Women’s Pure title match announced for ROH Supercard of Honor

Inaugural Ring of Honor Women’s Pure Champion Deonna Purrazzo will put her title on the line as part of next month’s ROH Supercard of Honor event.

Announced during Thursday’s ROH TV, Purrazzo will defend against Diamante as part of the Friday, May 15 streaming special from Salisbury, Maryland. Diamante is a member of Athena’s MIT group of which Purrazzo has been recently feuding with.

Purrazzo will be looking for her fourth successful title defense of the title she first won at December 2025’s Final Battle by defeating MIT member Billie Starkz. While they have squared off in recent tag matches, this will be their first-ever singles bout. Diamante is looking for her first title anywhere since 2022.

AEW/ROH wrestler Diamante gets engaged to girlfriend Kiera Hogan

New Year’s Eve was an extra special night for wrestling couple Diamante and Kiera Hogan.

The two announced their engagement on December 31 with Diamante (Priscilla Zuniga) showing off her new ring on social media. She and Hogan have been dating since 2019. They were formerly co-workers in both TNA and AEW. Diamante is still under contract with AEW and competes on the ROH brand, while Hogan departed the company in 2025.

TNA wrestler KC Navarro wrote that he was blessed to be there for the proposal.

“So blessed to be apart of this moment for my sister @diamantelax and @hoganknowsbest18,” Navarro posted to his Instagram stories.

AEW’s Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, Aubrey Edwards, Kevin Knight, and Skye Blue were among those to congratulate the couple on the news.

It was a busy night for Diamante with her engagement, but she still took a moment to send out a tweet celebrating Nightingale’s TBS Championship victory. Nightingale won the title from Mercedes Mone on the New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite.

Hogan was featured on the reality show Joseline’s Cabaret: California that aired on the Zeus Network last year. Some controversy was generated clip where she called wrestling a “stepping stone,” but Hogan clarified that wrestling has always been her first love. She just has other ambitions as well.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Athena teams with Diamante, CMLL stars in action

Reigning “forever” Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion Athena will team with Diamante as part of tonight’s ROH on HonorClub from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The show will also feature more CMLL stars in action as Atlantis Jr., Titan and Fuego take on Volador Jr., Rugido and Barbaro Cavernario in a trios bout while Dark Panther battles Okumura.

In the continuation of a feud dating back to February, ROH Tag Team Champions The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) will team with Willie Mack against MxM Collection (Mansoor & Madden) and Johnny TV. MxM recently stole the title belts and have been making them their own.

Premier Athletes (Arya Daivari & Tony Nese) will go heads-up against Dark Order’s Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds as both teams jockey for position for a future title shot.

Queen Aminata will look to rebound from her trilogy defeat to Julia Hart in AEW as she takes on Viva Van.

**********

The number 109 is a perfect triangular super-prime number and the number of stops in the pipe organ in Paris’ famed Notre-Dame Cathedral. It’s also the episode number for tonight’s Ring of Honor on Honorclub action!

-The show opened with ROH Women’s Champion Athena firing up her tag partner and seemingly new Minion, Diamante. Billie Starkz was there as well and Athena made it very clear that the MiT Program needed some new blood and that Starkz might not be around much longer.

Dark Panther defeated Okumura

I’m so excited for this match, I’m going to skip the usual jabbering and give you a few fun facts about the participants:

Dark Panther: “Approximately 36 or 35 years old in 2025,” 860+ career matches with a 53% win rate, lost a barn-burner of a match to ROH World Television Champion Komander last week.

Okomura: 52 years old, 2300+ career matches, 42% win rate. One-half of the current MLW Tag Team Champions.

Now let’s fight!

Panther tried to fire up the crowd off the top, but Okomura came charging out of the corner after the bell, laying him out with a clothesline. Okomura, a CMLL veteran wrestled a Japanese style, which kept the match speed low and Panther, confused.

Panther changed the course of the match with a big dropkick and tossed Okomura to the outside before following him with a springboard splash from the top rope. Panther knows a thing or two about hitting ahrd and he was able to match Okomura’s strength, blow for blow. It was only when the match slowed down that Panther seemed vulnerable.

Panther dropped his straps as “fight forever” chants broke out. After two suicide dives onto Okomura on the outside, Panther allowed the crowd to goad him into a third which drove Okomura into the barricade. Back in the ring, Okomura turned the tables with an attempted leg hold submission, but Panther was able to roll him onto his shoulders and pick up a quick victory!

Six Man Tag Team Match: The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) & Willie Mack defeated Johnny TV & MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden)

One third of the Six Man Tag Team Champions, Dustin Rhodes engages in this six-man match with his two-man Tag Team Champion partner Guevara and I assume the first guy they saw at catering this morning who turned out to be Willie Mack.  Johnny TV and The MxM Collection are natural partners and it was teased a few months ago that they’d be looking to join forces, but then TV had to deal with the LA fires and MxM had to deal with their emerging petty theft and belt-alteration business. Nice to see them back together now though.

Mack and TV kicked things off making me yearn for the days of Lucha Underground (which I do pretty much daily). Mack can move like he’s 100lbs lighter than he is so he hand TV were able to have a really fun exchange before Guevara tagged in. TV blocked a big chop and set Guevera on his butt to tag in Mansoor. Mdden went with him for a double team, but Guevara took them both out with a moonsault.

Rhodes tagged in and he and Guevara delivered double uppercuts to Mansoor. Madden hit Rhodes from behind though, giving Mansoor an opening for another double team. Madden and Mansoor put Rhodes’ head in between their butts and knocked him back and forth before TV tagged in. Rhodes, now isolated took punishment from all three in the corner.

Rhodes hit a snap powerslam on Mansoor and hot tags were landed on both sides of the ring, bringing Guevara in to face TV. Mack jumped in and took out Mansoor and Madden, but fell victim to TV’s kicking feet. Rhodes hit a Texas Destroyer and set up Mansoor for some Shattered Dreams.

Madden them tried to clean house, but Mack stopped him. Mack hit a standing moonsault on Madden and Guevara landed a GTH on TV to get the pin and the victory for his team.

After the match, Mansoor and Madden knocked the Tag Champs out of the ring and beat up Mack. TV joined the fun with a Starship Pain and then pretended to pin Mack. Mansoor counted three and madden stole one of the title belts again.

Athena & Diamante defeated Jordan Blu & Mazzerati

Athena has been ROH Women’s Champion for a staggering 836 days as of this writing. For context, when Athena won the title, ChatGPT was not a thing. Also during her (ongoing) reign: “Twitter” Became “X,” Elton John completed an EGOT andThe New England Patriots have had three head coaches. Not bad for the “Forever Champ.” During that same period, her partner tonight, Diamante had roughly 58 matches and won 29 of them. That doesn’t answer the standard wrestling tag team question of “CAN THEY COEXIST?!?!” but it’s interesting nonetheless. As for their opponents, Blu was making her ROH debut and Mazzerati’s last ROH win came in 2019. Yes, 2019.

Diamante started off against Mazzerati and then Blu. Every time she knocked down an opponent, she turned to Athena for approval and offered her the chance to come in and finish them off. Athena declined and instead shouted instructions from the corner. Mazzerati got in a little bit of offense, but Diamante easily deflected it. Diamante took on both women two-on-one before Athena tagged in.

Athena laid out Mazzerati with a big ol’ punch to the face and pinned her to get the victory without having to break a sweat thanks to Diamante.

-Next, Footage was shown from AEW Collision where ROH World Champion Chris Jericho taunted and enraged Bandito, setting up a title match between the two. Jericho cut a promo and declared that he wants Bandito’s mask, so their match will be Title For Mask at AEW Dynasty.

The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese) defeated The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & Evil Uno)

The Premier Athletes and the Dark Order both share something in common: They are currently kind of lost in the shuffle in a red-hot ROH Tag Team Division. Both are entertaining in their own right, but seem to serve as stepping stones for other teams to move up a rung. Facing each other here kind of seems like putting a hat on a hat, but since both the Athletes and the Order know how to work a crowd, this match had the potential to be very, very fun.

As the Premier Athletes did their schtick in the ring, The Frat House (Cole Karter, Griff Garrison, Preston Vance and Jakked Jameson) were shown watching from the crowd at ringside. Daivari went over and “cheers’ed” the Frat House who chanted “Dark Order Sucks!”

Nese and Daivari jumped Uno and Reynolds off the bell, but The Dark Order got the best of them with double running splashes in the corner. I mean, corners. Things settled down briefly after that, with Reynolds and Nese battling in the ring. Nese sent Reynolds to the outside where Daivari and Sterling stomped him.

Nese and Daivari tagged in and out, beating on Reynolds until he was finally able to battle back, but Nese took out Uno on the outside, so there was no one there to take the tag. The Frat House cheered loudly at ringside, leading duelling “Athletes Rule! Athletes Suck!” chants with the crowd.

Finally, Uno was able to tag in and began clearing house, hitting a double DDT on Nese and Daivari. Reynolds came back in for a Gory Special, but Nese broke up the pin. Daivari and Reynolds traded blows in the ring, with Reynolds sending Daivari to the outside and hitting both him and Nese with a dive.

Then, the Frat House threw a drink on Reynolds, hoping to cause a distraction. Reynolds didn’t fall for it though and tossed Nese at them as revenge. Back in the ring, Reynolds had Daivari pinned, but Sterling caused a distraction and the ref didn’t see it. Vance hopped the rail and knocked out Reynolds, allowing Daivari to get the pin and the stolen victory for the Premier Athletes. The Frat House then joined them in the ring, shaking hands with Sterling. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new supergroup?

-Up next, Renee Paquette talked to QT Marshall. Marshall threw a drink on Paul Walter Hauser at the AEW Revolution pre-show and Hauser, who has been sober for three years, was not impressed. He wants a match. Marshall said that Hauser is way overblowing it and doesn’t deserve a match until Hauser has the guts to ask him personally.

Queen Aminata defeated Viva Van

Still struggling to get her first ROH singles win, Van, fresh off a loss to La Catalina last week, seems to have drawn the short straw again and therefore has to take on her polar opposite in Aminata. Aminata has not lost in ROH since July of 2024 and in that process chalked up wins over Alysin Kaye, Lady Frost and Harley Cameron, just to name a few. Well, three, but you get it.

Aminata, rocking her best Beyonce hair, exchanged wristlocks with Van until finally twisting her into an armbar. After getting out, Van ran the ropes and got Aminata into an armbar of her own. Aminata was able to get a leg on the ropes though and it was broken up.

Aminata then brought the strikes, hitting and kicking Van until she didn’t know which way was up. Aminata then threw her into the ropes, but Van bounced back with a spinning heel kick and half-crab submission hold.

The two then traded chops in the middle of the ring. Aminata came out on top and set up Van for a huge knee that knocked her through the ropes. Aminata dragged her back in and pinned Van for the victory.

-Backstage, the Premier Athletes cut a promo. Sterling assured everyone they are the best Tag Team in the industry and everyone knows it. They will be future Tag Team Champions because “Athletes Rule.” So there.

Atlantis Jr., Fuego & Titan defeated Barbaro Cavernario, Rugido & Volador Jr.

This week’s Crisis of Infinite Luchadores match features ROH mainstay Atlantis Jr, Titan and Fuego taking on Cavernario, Rudigo and Volador Jr. But you probably already knew that because you read the headline. Anyways, these Luchardore matches have been absolutely unreal and as someone who has only a passing familiarity with CMLL and the Luchadore scene, it’s been awesome seeing these performers every week.

All six men started off in the ring. Superkicks were flying and when the dust settled it was Fuego and Cavernario in the ring. Cavernario bailed early and Volador jumped in against Titan. That was no fun, so Rugio came in to take on Titan, but Atlantis preferred it would be him, so he jumped in. Suddenly Cavernario was in the ring too, but Atlantis dispatched him and danced with Fuego.

Whew.

These luchadore matches are amazing, but sometimes so fast paced that these North American eyes can barely keep up!

Titan found himself alone in the ring facing a triple team while Fuego and Atlantis recovered on the outside. Volador and Rugido worked cohesively, but Cavernario landed the real hard hits on the prone Titan. Atlantis tried to save him, but inadvertently took his place in the three-on-one mayhem. Not to be left out, Fuego jumped in and met a similar fate.

Fuego, Atlantis and Titan all tagged in and out, but Cavernario, Rugido and Volador just stayed in the ring the whole time, triple teaming whoever tagged in. Why one team used tags and the others didn’t was beyond me, but that was their strategy and they stuck with it.

Cavernario tried to take Atlantis’ mask off with his teeth, but was unsuccessful. Atlantis hit a backbreaker on Cavernario and Fuego and Titan jumped in to handle Volador and Rugido. They were successful until Caverario took them both out. Atlantis then dispatched him and Fuego and Titan went for a double pin, that got a two-count.

Back and forth, back and forth, the match was still up for grabs with neither team able to get the high ground on the other. Titan and Volador ended up the legal men and traded blows in the middle of the ring. Titan hit a big hurricanrana then dove to the outside with Fuego taking his place. He took Volador to the outside and Atlantis and Cavernario battled in the ring. Atlantis hit a massive Mexican Destroyer on Cavernario followed by a frog splash to get the pin and the victory for his team!

That was amazing, incredible and exhausting! I need a nap, but a happy nap nonetheless thanks to great night of wrestling!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Red Velvet vs. Diamante street fight

This week’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will be highlighted by a street fight for the ROH Women’s TV title as Red Velvet defends against Diamante.

This will be a rematch of their early-October clash that Velvet won by DQ in the champion’s first title defense.

ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara will be in action as will future challengers The Righteous.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will hold another emergency meeting with Billie Starkz and Lexy Nair. Abadon, whom Athena defended the title against last month, will return to action against Viva Van.

After defeating The Butcher last week, former ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata will take on Aaron Solo.

Komander will look to rebound from losses to Kyle Fletcher and Lio Rush as he challenges former Pure Champion Josh Woods.

Griff Garrison & Preston Vance will team up for the first time against Northeast U.S. indie regulars Waves ‘n’ Curls.

**********

ROH on Honorclub episode 90 hit the airwaves (streamwaves?) with such force that it knocked not one, not two, but FOUR tag teams into the ring!

Four Way Tag Team Match: The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) and Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) and The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

So, there was a lot of people in this match. A lot. Lets bring you up to speed:

The Undisputed Kingdom wanted to prove they’ve still got it after losing the titles back in September. Gates of Agony really wanted to hurt people. Grizzled Young Veterans appeared to be making their ROH on Honorclub debut, and The Dark Order, well, they just usually want to pose and cause as much chaos as possible. One thing that every team wanted though was to move up a notch to get into contention for the ROH Tag Team Titles.

Taven and Kaun kicked things off which was pretty fun. They are both big guys who can move really well. Eventually, Silver and Gibson locked up and it’s always fun to see Silver in the ring because even though he’s a Short King, he has the strength and agility of a much bigger man. The Veterans really shone here too, keeping everyone on their toes.

The Gates were the first to start the double teaming, but were dragged to the outside by the Kingdom and Veterans respectively. That left Silver in the ring to face Taven who dodged a big splash that set up Bennett to grab Silver for a spiked piledriver. As one can imagine, that got them the pin and the victory.

After the match, Taven and Bennett approached Gates of Agony and shared a tentative but respectful handshake. Odd behaviour between heels, but an interesting match up for a later day.

Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara defeated Love Doug & TJ Crawford

Now going by “The Sons of Texas”, The ROH Tag champions have been holding firmly onto those belts the last few weeks while the Righteous stalk them from every corner. Rhodes and Guevara got one up on Vincent and Dutch last week, jumping them on the ramp before their alleged match took place. Doug and Crawford have been teaming on the indies since 2021 with questionable team names like “Love In The City” and their current name “Shot Through The Heart.” No matter what they call themselves, this would be their ROH debut.

As imagined, Doug was in way over his head when he started the match opposite Rhodes. I mean that literally, he was a good foot shorter than Rhodes. What he did have was speed though and that caught Rhodes unawares. Crawford tagged in just in time to take a big splash from Guevara. Doug wanted a piece of that action, and jumped in to take a Sammy Superkick for his troubles.

Crawford was a better matchup against the champions, but Rhodes and Guevara have been firing on all cylinders and landed dual GTH’s on both of their opponents to get the win.

Immediately, The Righteous arrived and blindsided Rhodes to give a double team to Guevara. Dutch hit a side slam on Rhodes, and Vincent held him while Dutch smashed a large cowbell into his face. The RIghteous snapped their way out of the ring, leaving the champs lying.

-ROH World Champion Chris Jericho and The Learning Tree cut a promo in the back. Big Bill said that they are up to any challenge. Jericho talked about how he’s known Tomohiro Ishii for thirty years, when he was a “Young Boy” in Japan. Jericho accepted Ishii’s challenge to defend the ROH title against him in two weeks, in Chicago. Thanks guys!!

Griff Garrison & Preston Vance defeated Waves And Curls (Jaylen Brandyn & Traevon Jordan)

The tremendously named Waves and Curls have been together on the indies since 2020. They’ve done some grunt work in AEW, but as far as I can tell this was their ROH debut and they got a big hometown pop. Vance and Garrison would be teaming together for the first time, while Garrison’s usual partner, Cole Karter recovers from injury. Vance, for his part, is sitting at a 4-5 singles record in 2024, including a loss to Sammy Guevara last week, so maybe tag teaming is a better fit.

Garrison and Vance (who I am calling Team Purple Pants) seemed pretty cohesive for two guys who;ve never teamed together. Vance started things off against Jordan who made a mistake by dancing mid-move. That gave Vance an opening to crush him with a lariat.

Brandyn tagged in a looked like a literal child against Vance. Vance threw him around for a while and then tagged in Garrison. Garrison attempted to mock his opponent by, yep, dancing. It worked out ok for him though since Brandyn weighed about 75lbs and was easy to slam, even mid-dance.

Vance tagged in and hit a stalling (20 second) suplex on Brandyn. Garrison tagged in and Vance ran around to take out Jordan on the outside. Brandyn tried a suicide dive onto Vance on the outside, but Vance caught him with one hand and dragged him back into the ring. Vance and Garrison hit dual rolling elbows and got the pin, 1-2-3. Team Purple Pants looked good here, but they really weren’t up against tough opponents.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Aaron Solo

Solo is a wrestler, but Shibata is THE Wrestler. Shibata has not lost a singles match in ROH in 2024, and holds wins over Brandon Cutler, The Butcher and 2/3rds of the Premier Athletes in just the last few months. Solo on the other hand, has not won a singles match in ROH since April. He’s also probably still hearing bells after the beating that Tomohio Ishii laid on him last week.

Solo jumped Shibata as soon as he got in the ring, beating him up and tossing him out of the ring. Solo’s strategy seemed to be to take away the “wrestler” skills from Shibata and force him to brawl on the outside. He threw Shibata into barricades, stairs, chairs, whatever he could find. But he got cocky and Shibata showed him that he knows a thing or two about brawling as well. He beat up Solo and tossed him back into the ring.

Shibata laid some hard chops into Solo in the corner and then stomped him in the center of the ring. Solo hit a surprise exploder suplex to even things out. Shibata came back with a Cobra Twist into a Octopus hold and that was it for Solo. He tapped and Shibata’s win streak continued.

Komander defeated Josh Woods

Komander is a fun, high-flying luchador and Woods is a large, technical and brutal brawler. Having defeated Woods’ stablemate Ariya Daivari in October, Komander would love to add Wood’s name to is beaten list. Woods for his part has suffered losses to Tomohiro Ishii, AR Fox (of all people) and then-ROH Champion Mark Briscoe. Despite this, Mark Sterling declared that the Premier Athletes are “winners!”

For some reason here during Komander’s entrance, they showed two people in the crowd cosplaying as Meg and Peter Griffin from Family Guy. No one acknowledged it, but it was weird enough I thought I should mention it.

Woods immediately went to his amateur background, trying to keep Komander on the mat and take away his speed. Komander was able to take advantage of what little space he had though and bring the momentum firmly into his corner.

Woods then realized that he is bigger than Komander, so he picked him up and threw him outside the ring where Sterling delivered a few stomps for good luck. Back in the ring, Woods started feeding elbows to Komander. He made a mistake though and gave Komander some space which the luchadore jumped on, literally and figuratively.

Komander used the ropes for a springboard splash on to Woods. He tried it again, but Woods got his knee up, surprising Komander. Komander tried setting up for a big dive, but Sterling tripped him up. Komander’s Hype Man jumped in and delivered a spear to Sterling. Komander then hit a rope-walk head butt on a prone Woods and got the win.

Abadon defeated Viva Van

Abadon failed to win the ROH Women’s title from Athena a couple of weeks ago in a “Ring of Horror Match” and as such, was in an awesome mood. They screamed, grunted and smashed everything Viva Van-shaped in the ring. Van attempted a few soft flurries of offense, but Abadon, a literal zombie, wasn’t really having any of it.

Van resorted to a hair-lock(?) on Abadon, trying anything she could to put Abadon away. It didn’t work though and Abadon no-sold it with screams and hit a surprise cutter on Van. They followed that up with a Black Dahlia and got the win, squash complete.

-Backstage an emergency MeM broke out with Lexy Nair demanding that Billie Starkz apologize to Athena. Athena was unimpressed with Starkz’ outfit and blew her off. Suddenly, Leila Grey appeared to let everyone know that Top Flight was the best. That was literally what she showed up to say. Athena laughed and said she could have a Proving Ground match next week.

ROH Classic Match: Hyan vs ROH Women’s Champion Athena (Orlando 26.02.2023)

The Classic ROH Content this week was Athena’s first Proving Ground match as champion against Hyan, who was all over the indies at the time. It was a decent match (guess who won!) that we all enjoyed and then moved on.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeated Jimmy Diaz & Matt Raven

Diaz and Raven had no chance here. Vincent and Dutch are a team that doesn’t care about pesky things like rules and such. They are into violence and lately, the ROH Tag Team Championships around the waists of Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara. The champs were jumped by the Righteous earlier in the show, so it was easy to see that they were in a good mood, which is even scarier when talking about the Righteous. They were looking to take it out on Diaz and Raven, who according to my research, are not only making their ROH debut, but possibly having their first match ever. Hell of a way to start.

Vincent started things off against whichever one was in Blue tights (Raven, as it turns out. Though he had “magnum” on his tights). Vincent toyed with him and then tagged in Dutch for a Side Effect and dual dropkicks. Diaz tagged in and didn’t fare any better, taking an Orange Sunshine and then a big double team similar to what took out Sammy Guevara earlier. Vincent pinned him and it was all over but the shouting.

By shouting, I mean the dulcet tones of Vincent as he grabbed a mic for a promo. He said that the Righteous are forcing their way into the tag title picture. He said they should have been champions a long time ago and Sammy and Dustin will not have those belts for long. Dutch agreed and mocked Rhodes with the cowbell he hit him with earlier. It was Rhodes’ childhood cow bell (which is a thing in Texas I presume). Dutch talked about Dusty Rhodes, saying that Dusty wanted him to be his son instead of Dustin. That’s why Dutch got the cow bell.

ROH Women’s World Television Title Street Fight: Red Velvet (c) defeated Diamante

Diamante is at her craziest when there are no rules and Red Velvet has been up to whatever challenge comes across her plate while holding the ROH Women’s TV Title. Velvet has been spending a lot of time in CMLL in the last month or so, which means it’s possible she had a few tricks up her sleeve that Diamante wouldn’t see coming. Diamante survived the Texas Death Match against Leyla Hirsch at Death Before Dishonor, so she knows how to handle herself when the rules are out the window.

Diamante brought a trash can full of weapons to the ring and got the jump on Velvet off the top. She tried to set up a shot with the belt, but Velvet reversed it and followed up with a trash can shot to Diamante. Diamante responded by putting Velvet in the trash can and drop kicking it. She then sent Velvet’s face into a steel chair several times. Next, she tried to choke Velvet with a big ol’ chain.

Velvet managed to get a sneaky stunner on Diamante to turn the tide. She bulldogged Diamante onto that chair and threw her into the garbage can face-first. Velvet pulled a ladder from under the ring and introduced it to Diamante via hip-toss. Propping the ladder against the ropes, Velvet laid out Diamante on top of it. Velvet went for a top rope leg drop, but Diamante rolled off the ladder.

The two brawled around the ladder, with Velvet ending up on it this time. Diamante climbed the ropes and hit a big splash through Velvet and the ladder. Diamante then brought at table into the ring. She set it up in the corner, but Velvet got her with a chair before she could use it. Velvet put Diamante on the table and went to the top rope. Diamante slid off though, knocking Velvet off balance. She gabbed Velvet and superplexed her through the table from the top rope.

Velvet got to her feet first and hit a Mama’s Kitchen on Diamante, driving her head into the TV Title belt. That did it and Velvet picked up the win, retaining her title. Super fun matchm and a great way to end the show!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Red Velvet & Gabe Kidd title defenses

ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet will put her title on the line against Diamante in the featured bout of this week’s ROH on HonorClub.

It will be Velvet’s first title defense while her opponent is still looking for her first ROH or AEW gold.

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe will be in non-title action as he faces former Pure Champion Josh Woods. If Woods can beat or take the champion to a draw, he earns a future title shot.

NJPW Strong Champion Gabe Kidd will make a special appearance and has issued an open challenge for his title.

New Don Callis Family member Lance Archer will be in action as will former Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz.

Shane Taylor Promotions’ namesake and Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will take on The Infantry in tag team action.

**********

As a certain Big Poppa Pump once said “I legally can punch someone in the face and not get arrested for it, which most human beings can’t do.” Flying in the face of that though is ROH on Honorclub episode 85 which hit the airwaves (streamwaves?) running with Lexy Nair and Billie Starkz!

The pair were setting up a big party for Athena who happened to arrive mid conversation. Athena handcuffed herself to Lexy in order to “keep her safe” from Abadon because she’s too important. Starkz took issue with this and Athena assured her that she can take care of herself, but Lexy can’t. This is for her protection only. With that, Starkz stormed out., and Lady Frost stormed in.

Athena said that Frost was afraid of her and Frost countered with a match challenge for next week! Athena had no choice but to accept, and the show kicked off proper with a NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship match!

NJPW STRONG Openweight Title Match: Gabe Kidd (c) defeated Anthony Henry (w/Beef)

It was a surprise to see a NJPW Title defense on ROH, but it was a welcome addition to the card. Gabe Kidd has held the NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion for 151 days since defeating Eddie Kingston at NJPW STRONG RESURGENCE 2024.  That was a No Rope Last Man Standing match and it put Kingston on the shelf for the better part of a year. Kidd laid out an Open Challenge that was answered by none other than Beef’s second cousin, Anthony Henry! With his Workhorsemen partner JD Drake’s return imminent, this was a great chance for Henry to have some new gold to show off when he arrived.

Henry came out with guns blazing, sending Kidd to the outside and driving him into the barricades with high knees. Kidd recovered though and brought the fight back into the ring. Henry kept up the speed, with seemed to throw Kidd off guard. Henry didn’t count on Kidd’s strength though, and Kidd picked him up and tossed him out of the ring. Literally. He threw him.

Kidd grabbed a mic and started running down the American crowd, mid-match. That fired up Henry and the two traded chops. Kidd went to the outside to grab a weapon and this offended Beef. He stepped up to Kidd, who knocked him out allowing Henry to get an opening for a suicide dive.

Henry went to the top rope, but Kidd joined him up there and hit a second rope suplex. Kidd hit a massive piledriver and managed to get the pin to retain his title. We know now that Henry was injured in this match, but he did an amazing job carrying through to make it a really good opening bout.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Brandon Cutler

Cutler came out to no music, raving about the excellence of the AEW EVPS, the Young Bucks. He issued an open challenge for “any former ROH champion” in the back. The challenge was answered by former ROH PURE Champion Katsuyori Shibata!

Shibata is having a hell of a year. He has had an 80% win rate across AEW, ROH and Japan.  In ROH specifically, he’s won every match (singles and multi-person) since May. Cutler on the other hand has lost to Preston Vance, Colt Cabana and even Jacoby Watts.

The match began with chops. Lots and lots of chops, with Cutler on the losing end of most of them. A back elbow got the momentum back on Cutler’s side, and he worked Shibata in the corner. Shibata fought back though, and delivered a big dropkick in the corner. A snap suplex followed and Shibata locked Cutler in a sleeper hold to soften him up for a shining wizard and the pin.

-Brian Cage cut a promo from the back. If you didn’t know, he’s a machine. One that’s been programmed to become the best wrestler on the planet. He wants Atlantis Jr’s ROH Television Title, and he will take it from him at Wrestledream. This continues the strange thing that ROH does where people cut promos about matches that are not happening on their show.

Billie Starkz defeated Ella Elizabeth

As we saw off the top, Starkz has been in a nasty mood ever since Athena demoted her to Minion-In-Training. Starkz and the Forever Champion haven’t been getting along recently, with Starkz’; work to help Athena being over looked and credited to Lexy Nair. Starkz would be looking to take out some of that aggression on Ella Elizabeth, a product of Al Snow’s OVW, making her ROH debut.

Starkz seemed to cheer up a bit while kocking Elizabeth around the ring. But her mind definitely wasn’t on the match, letting Elizabeth get a few flurries of offense in. Starkz got cocky and almost got caught in a suplex by Elizabeth. That got Starkz’ focus back, but she moved to end the match quickly.

Elizabeth screamed in Starkz’ face, and Billie returned the favour, followed by a swan dive headbutt. She pinned Elizabeth and got the win, but seemed distracted and “over it” as she left.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor) defeated The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

This was a renewing of a long-standing rivalry dating all the way back to before ROH on Honorclub Episode 33. Having lost to The Outrunners last week, Dean and Bravo looked to finally get a win over STP in this match. Taylor and Moriarty are 5-0 in tag team matches, with three of those victories coming over the Infantry!

Taylor and Bravo started things off and circled each other like two men who know the other very well. Taylors powerful style was a great matchup for Bravo’s faster and more agile moves. Of course, you know what happens when an agile wrestler runs into Shane Taylor? Same thing that happens to everyone else, causing Dean to jump in for a double team.

Taylor socked Dean right in the kisser, dazing him and allowing Moriarty to tag in. On the outside, Bravo and Taylor continued getting in each other’s faces until it was broken up by Trish Adora. Dean got isolated in the STP corner and Taylor and Moriarty worked him over. Dean managed a hot tag to Bravo who took Moriarty to the cleaners.

Dean went to the top rope, but Morairty shoved Bravo into him, knocking him down. off of that, Moriarty rolled up Bravo and got the 1-2-3.

-Backstage, the Iron Savages said a lot of words, some of which made sense. The Dark Order was there too, and the Savages and Jameson challenged them to a trios match. I think they accepted? It was hard to tell with all the slogans.

ROH Women’s World Television Title Match: Red Velvet (c) defeated Diamante by DQ

Even though they have some pretty hard feelings about one another, Velvet and Diamante haven’t actually faced off since 2021 on an episode of AEW Dark. In spite of that, the ROH Women’s World TV Championship would be on the line in this match. Surprisingly, this would be Red Velvet’s first defense of the title since defeating Billie Starkz for it at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024.

Velvet had control off the top, keeping Diamante off her feet with an arm scissor. Velvet hit a “leg lariat” (aka a kick) and knocked Diamante back down. Diamante wouldn’t quit though, slamming Velvet’s face into each turnbuckle in succession, like so many strap matches.

Diamante was confident throughout the match, laying in lots of big slams and whips. At one point, she raked Velvet’s eye along the ropes in a particularly nasty move. It looked like Diamante had the match and title won a few times, but Velvet wouldn’t let Diamante put her down. Velvet kicked out of everything thrown at her, but took a beating in the process. Every time Velvet managed a reversal or kickout, Diamante answered back with more violence.

Diamante lost control though, and despite repeated warnings from the Ref, she smashed Velvet in the face with the ROH Women’s TV Title. The Ref called for the bell, and Velvet was awarded the win (and title retention) via DQ. Diamante realized that she had just cost herself the title, and stomped out of the arena.

Lance Archer defeated Sam Beale

Lance Archer is not only a brutally hard-hitting monster in the ring and new member of the Don Callis Family, he’s also best friends with The Righteous. That doesn’t mean much in this match, but I think it’s nice to mention. Beale on the other hand, has 3000+ X followers and was making his ROH debut.

Archer offered his hand to Beale for the Code of Honor, but Beale saw betrayal coming and actually hit Archer in the face. That upset the Murderhawk, and he proceeded to beat the ever loving life out of hometown hero Beale. Suplexes, stomps, big punches. It was a textbook squash. The match ended with a big Blackout and that was that.

-Backstage, the Infantry broke down their match against STP…. who just happened to wander in and tell them that they are the most impressive team in ROH. Taylor told them to stop trying to prove they can wrestle, and learn how to rumble. Also, Taylor and Adora seemed to have a side thing going on, which weirded out the Infantry.

ROH Classic Match: Bryan Danielson vs KENTA (Sept 16, 2006, NYC)

Last week, ROH aired the classic match between Samoa Joe and Kenta Kobashi from 2005. They heard that I really liked that, so this week they showed another classic match. This time it was the ROH Champion Bryan Danielson taking on the one and only KENTA.

It was an amazing match, which should come as no surprise. If you thought the 2010’s KENTA and Danielson were amazing, you should see them in 2006. Tons of hard hitting, amazing slams and splashes, and a ton of down-to-the-second submission attempts. I won’t spoil who wins, but you should check out this match as soon as you can. Hey, you can even watch it, and just about all of ROH on Honorclub.

This was another great move by ROH, I love seeing these classic matches in amongst the current stuff.

ROH World Title Proving Groud Match: Mark Briscoe (c) defeated Josh Woods (w/ The Premier Athletes)

Mark Briscoe’s dance card is pretty full these days, especially with an upcoming match against Chris Jericho at Wrestledream. That wouldn’t stop him from mixing it up with the Premier Athlete’s Josh Woods though, as the two competed in a Proving ground match. If Woods was able to pin Briscoe or last to the 10-minute time limit, he’d get a shot at whoever the ROH Champion might be after the aforementioned Wrestledream.

Mark Sterling ran down the hometown crowd (and pretty much everyone in ROH and AEW). Briscoe entered to a hero’s ovation and the match was on. Woods jumped Briscoe right off the bat, knocking him to the outside. Briscoe’s chaotic style was definitely at odds with Woods’ more technical and brawling style, but Red Neck Kung Fu was a pretty good counter.

Briscoe introduced a chair to the proceedings and used it as a launching point for a big flip onto Woods on the outside. Briscoe resorted to wrestling moves, hitting Woods with suplexes and rolling drivers. Woods for his part wasn’t going down easily, catching Briscoe’s Froggy Bow with an armbar. Sterling got involved off of a Ref distraction, but Biscoe is the will-not-lay-downiest of all wrestlers, and he would not lay down.

Briscoe went for a Jay Driller, buy his shoulder wouldn’t co-operate and Woods got a chance to get him on the top rope. Briscoe bit Woods and delivered some big head butts before launching himself with a Froggy Bow. Woods was out of it this time, and Briscoe landed it to get the pin and the win. Bring on Jericho!

Darby Allin vs. Christian Cage announced for AEW Collision Fight for the Fallen

Darby Allin will be in action on next week’s Collision.

On Saturday’s show, Allin did a run-in and attacked Luchasaurus after Luchasaurus successfully defended the TNT title against Brock Anderson. After Luchasaurus and Christian Cage retreated, Allin challenged Cage to a match for next week. Cage accepted.

The segment had started with Cage and Luchasaurus coming out out for a promo and ran down Allin, who had earned a TNT Championship match at All Out several weeks ago after winning the Royal Rampage battle royal. This brought out Arn and Brock Anderson. Cage ended up challenging Arn, but Arn instead send out his son, who was eventually pinned by Luchasaurus. After Luchasaurus had successfully defended the title against Anderson, it was confirmed Allin would be facing Luchasaurus at All Out.

Diamante will also take on Willow Nightingale next Saturday. Diamante teamed with Mercedes Martinez on Saturday’s show to take on Nightingale and TBS Champion Kris Statlander. Martinez picked up the victory after Diamante helped Martinez pin Nightingale.

Here is the card so far for next week’s Collision:

  • Darby Allin vs. Christian Cage
  • Willow Nightingale vs. Diamante

Ring of Honor TV live results: Pure & Women’s title defenses

Two titles will be on the line as part of tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub.

After accepting the challenge last week, ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata will defend against former Pure Champion Josh Woods.

ROH Women’s Champion Athena will look to extend her hard-hitting run as she defends against Diamante who is looking for her first ROH title run of any kind.

The next ROH TV title eliminator tournament will kick off with four men vying for a title shot against current champion Samoa Joe. Gravity will take on Tony Nese while Shane Taylor will go one-on-one with Christopher Daniels.

After failing to wrest the ROH Tag Team titles from Aussie Open last night, El Hijo del Vikingo & Komander will take on The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake).

Other matches include Dalton Castle vs. Zack Clayton; the Gates of Agony vs. The Boys, and both Leyla Hirsch and Robyn Renegade in singles matches.

**********

Ian Ricabonni and Caprice Coleman welcome us to the show, running down the big card tonight featuring two title matches and the semifinals of the TV Title Eliminator tournament. One of those semifinals kicked off the show here.

ROH World Television Title Eliminator Tournament Semi-Final Match –Shane Taylor defeated Christopher Daniels

Daniels tried to bring down Taylor with wrestling moves, but Taylor used his size to block them before dropping Daniels with a left hand. Taylor dropped Daniels with a barge attack, then dropped Daniels with a lariat for a nearfall.

Taylor clubbered on Daniels before Daniels caught him with a neckbreaker. Daniels dodged a corner charge and hit a hurricanrana on Taylor, following up with a rabbit lariat for a nearfall. Taylor caught Daniels with a uranage, then followed it with a splash for a nearfall. Taylor went to the second rope and hit a crossbody, then hit the Marcus Garvey Driver for the win and the spot in the finals.

Earlier today, Lexy Nair was with the Iron Savages. They challenged Aussie Open for a title match, which they are getting right now.

ROH World Tag Team Title Match – Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) defeated The Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson)

Aussie Open handed the title belts off to Stokely Hathaway and Tony Khan in the back before walking out. I appreciate the attention to detail, as this was taped before their title defense against Komander and El Hijo Del Vikingo on Dynamite last night.

Fletcher and Bronson started by trading elbows before Fletcher dropped Bronson with a bodyslam. Their partners tagged in, with Davis having trouble with the stronger Boulder. The Savages got the better of Aussie Open before Aussie Open sent them to the apron and dumped them to the floor. They picked up Bronson and tossed him into Boulder on the floor to take control.

Aussie Open clubbered on Bronson for a while before Bronson got the tag out to Boulder. Boulder ran wild, tossing both Davis and Fletcher around before hitting a tilt-a-whirl powerslam on Fletcher for a nearfall. Boulder went for a moonsault, but Fletcher moved out of the way and got the tag to Davis. Bronson entered the match and hit a Rikishi Driver on Fletcher on top of Davis. The Savages hit a double main event spinebuster for a nearfall.

The Savages went for their elevator slam, but Davis rolled into the Aussie Open corner, leading to Fletcher hitting a Doomsday Device on Bronson. Aussie Open hit the Dental Plan and Coreolis on Boulder to win the match and retain the titles.

Backstage, Aussie Open collected their titles from Tony Khan, bragging all the while.

Elsewhere backstage, Lexy Nair was with Stokely Hathaway. He thanked people for the praise for the TV Title #1 Contender Tournament before being interrupted by a miffed Dalton Castle. Castle blamed Hathaway for not winning the TV Title at Death Before Dishonor and being left out of the #1 Contender Tournament. They argue for a while until Samoa Joe entered the scene. Joe said that he would give Castle what he wanted. In two weeks, it will be…The Boys vs. Samoa Joe & Stokely Hathaway. Hathaway looked shocked, and Castle was still unhappy.

ROH Pure Title Match – Katsuyori Shibata (c) defeated Josh Woods (w/ Smart Mark Sterling)

The judges for this match were Jimmy Jacobs, Jerry Lynn, and former Pure Champion John Walters.

The men traded position before trading armbar and kneebar attempts. Both men were evenly matched on the mat, with Woods and his national championship pedigree matching Shibata’s New Japan dojo training and experience. They rolled to the floor in matching leg bars before Woods ducked a Penalty Kick on the floor. They locked horns with a collar and elbow tie-up on the floor to a 16-count before getting back into the ring and immediately re-engaging in the collar and elbow.

Woods blocked an O’Connor Roll attempt, with Sterling getting on the apron to argue that it shouldn’t count as a rope break. Woods used the distraction to gain control with a shoulder block and go to work on Shibata’s arm. Shibata sent Woods to the floor, but Woods baited Shibata into a chase and caught him with a short-arm scissors. Shibata rolled Woods up to escape, but Woods kicked out and hit an arm trap gutwrench suplex for a nearfall.

Woods hit a gutwrench powerbomb for a nearfall, then hit the Penalty Kick on Shibata. This woke Shibata up, who fired up with strikes. Shibata hit the hesitation dropkick and a suplex for a nearfall before drilling Woods with a mid-kick for another nearfall. Shibata locked on a sleeper hold, with Woods grabbing the ropes to escape. They traded suplexes before trading forearms, with Woods hitting forearms into the shoulder of Shibata. They hit matching pump kicks, with both men going down.

They traded more strikes before Woods booted Shibata’s arm. Woods went for a TKO, but Shibata landed on his feet and locked on the sleeper hold. Shibata hit the Penalty Kick to win and retain the title.

Dalton Castle defeated Zack Clayton

Clayton got a lot of offense to start, clubbering on Castle before sending him flying with an overhead suplex. Castle fought his way back, sending Clayton flying with suplexes of his own before hitting the Bangarang for the win.

Backstage, Lexy Nair was with Josh Woods, who had something to say. He ran down the opportunities he’s had so far in the new era of ROH, noting his losses in three title matches. He says that something has to change.

The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) defeated Jora Johl & Nick Comoroto

The Infantry controlled Johl to start the match until Comoroto got involved on the apron and tagged in. They beat up on Bravo until Johl accidentally superkicked Comoroto, allowing Dean to tag in. Dean took care of Johl and sent Comoroto to the floor. They dropped Johl with a boot into a side Russian Leg Sweep for the win.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Miranda Vionette

Vionette fought out of a Gator Roll to get a pair of flash pins, but Hirsch hit a dropkick to the knee to cut her off. Maria Kanellis-Bennett came out to watch. Hirsch clubbered on Vionette before hitting a boot to the face. Hirsch pulled Vionette into a side suplex. Vionette had a short flurry of offense before Hirsch caught her in a cross armbreaker for the win.

ROH World Television Title Eliminator Tournament Semi-Final Match – Gravity defeated Tony Nese (w/Mark Sterling)

Nese did his usual leading group training before Gravity came out. Gravity came out with speed, sending Nese up and over with a lucha armdrag before gorilla pressing Nese. Sterling cut off a dive, allowing Nese to take control and send Gravity to the floor, where Sterling put the boots to him.

Gravity fought back with chops and sent Nese to the floor. Sterling went to cut him off again, but Gravity went to the corner and hit a double-jump dive to the floor. Gravity hung Nese in the ropes and hit a splash for a nearfall. Gravity elevated himself to the top rope, but Nese cut him off with a big uppercut. Nese hit the roll-through spin kick for a nearfall. Gravity hit a single-arm powerbomb out of a roll-up attempt, then followed it with a top-rope splash for the win. The tournament finals will be Gravity vs. Shane Taylor.

ROH Women’s World Title Match – Athena (c) defeated Diamante

Athena kept countering Diamante’s offense, with the crowd chanting her name. Diamante hit a set of dropkicks that sent Athena to the apron, where Diamante dropkicked her to the floor. Diamante tried to follow with a crossbody, but Athena caught her and slammed her to the floor. Athena picked Diamante up and flung her into the barricade.

Athena clubbered on Diamante, focusing on her midsection and back. Athena brought Diamante to the apron, where Diamante tried to reverse her into a suplex. Instead, Athena ran Diamante into the turnbuckle before hitting a back suplex on the apron.

Back in the ring, Diamante ducked some big strikes before firing up. She hit a monkey flip and a sliding lariat for a nearfall. Athena countered an around-the-world DDT with a backbreaker. Athena went to the top rope for the O Face, but Diamante caught her and hit the Chaos Theory for a nearfall. Diamante went to the second rope, but Athena booted her down and locked on a crossface. Athena rolled Diamante to the middle of the ring, but Diamante rolled her into a pin for a nearfall. Athena hit a superkick and rolled Diamante up to win and retain the title.

Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) (w/Prince Nana) defeated The Boys (Brandon & Brent)

Kaun started with Brent, sending him inside out with a lariat. The Gates clubbered on Brent, with Nana joining in while the referee was distracted. Brent evaded his way to the corner to make a tag out to Brandon, who ran wild until Liona wouldn’t budge on an Irish whip. Kaun pulled Brent to the floor, allowing Liona to send Brandon through the mat with a Samoan Drop. The Gates hit their tag team facebuster for the win.

Backstage, Lexy Nair was with Diamante. Lexy asked why Athena didn’t beat her up after the match. Athena entered the scene and told Diamante that she had talent but was missing something to reach the champ’s level. She told Diamante to stay away from her and figure it out.

Cole Karter defeated LSG

Karter got a jump start on LSG to start the match, ringing him up on the ropes and hitting a lariat. Karter controlled the match as Maria Kanellis-Bennett watched on the ramp. LSG slipped out of a powerbomb and fired up, but Karter cut him off on a springboard attempt with a jumping knee. Karter hit a DDT for the win.

In video from Death Before Dishonor, The Righteous began to speak before The Dark Order came in. Evil Uno shook hands with Stu Grayson, with Vincent only saying, “Finally.”

Robyn Renegade (w/ Charlette Renegade) defeated Christina Marie

Marie controlled the match early on, hitting bodyslams until Renegade rolled to the floor. Marie avoided an elbow drop back in the ring, but Charlette sent Marie into the post to get her sister in control. Renegade hit a shotgun dropkick and a low dropkick for a nearfall. Marie caught Renegade with a roll-up for a nearfall, but Renegade hit her with a lariat. Marie fired up with strikes, but Renegade locked on a seated Octopus Stretch for the win.

El Hijo del Vikingo & Komander defeated The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Henry and Komander started off, with Komander sending Henry flying with an armdrag. Drake tagged in, but Komander dropped him with a dropkick. Vikingo tagged in, hitting dual dives with Komander to the WorkHorsemen on the floor. Vikingo hit a frog splash on Drake for a nearfall. Vikingo hit a tornado headscissors on Drake, but Henry cut him off with an STO on the apron.

The WorkHorsemen kept control of Vikingo with tandem offense. Drake hit a boot that sent Vikingo into a Henry side Russian leg sweep for a nearfall. Vikingo hit a hurricane kick to Henry, but Henry knocked Komander off the apron. Drake hit a shining wizard on Vikingo for a nearfall. Vikingo rolled through a powerbomb into a Code Red before making the tag out to Komander.

Komander ran wild, sending both WorkHorsemen to the floor. Vikingo tagged back in, but Henry cut off a dive attempt. The WorkHorsemen hit combo offense on Vikingo, but Komander broke up the pin. They sent the WorkHorsemen to the floor, then both hit ropewalk moonsaults to the floor. Vikingo and Komander then hit dual 450 splashes to Drake, with Vikingo getting the pin and the win.

Women’s title match announced for Ring of Honor TV lineup

The Ring of Honor Women’s Championship will be on the line when Athena defends against Diamante on Thursday’s ROH on HonorClub.

Athena defeated Christina Marie in a Proving Ground match last week before cutting a promo backstage where she told Lexy Nair that she wants the women in the ROH locker room to step up because she’s getting bored.

On a two-match winning streak, Diamante last appeared on ROH TV in June when she beat Vanessa Kraven.

The ROH Pure Title will also be on the line this week as Katsuyori Shibata will put his belt on the line against Josh Woods in a Pure Rules match in a previously announced match. Woods defeated Eli Isom last week while Shibata is coming off a successful title defense against Daniel Garcia at Death Before Dishonor.

Thursday will also see two ROH TV Title Eliminator Tournament matches. The first will be between Gravity and Tony Nese. Gravity looks to get back on the winning side of things after he lost to ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe Saturday on AEW Collision.

The second will feature Christopher Daniels and Shane Taylor squaring off. Taylor earned his spot in the semifinal by beating Serpentico last week while Daniels got there by defeating JD Drake.

Leyla Hirsch will also be in action.

AEW Dynamite live results: Moxley vs. Kingston World title match

A positive COVID-19 test result has resulted in a major change to tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Mr. Brodie Lee vs. Orange Cassidy for the TNT Championship was set to headline the show, while Jon Moxley, Will Hobbs & Darby Allin were going to face Lance Archer, Brian Cage & Ricky Starks in a six-man tag. Archer revealed a positive COVID-19 test, so now Moxley will defend his AEW World title against Eddie Kingston.

Kingston was technically never eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale at All Out and has been mentioning that fact in his promos ever since. So tonight, he gets the World title shot he’s been clamoring for.

Lee will be making his second defense of the title since winning it from Cody on August 22. Lee brings an AEW career singles mark of 7-1 into the contest. Cassidy is 8-4 in AEW singles matches in 2020 and is coming off wins over Chris Jericho and Angelico.

Miro and Kip Sabian will team against Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss in Miro’s AEW in-ring debut.

AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida and NWA World Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa will team against Ivelisse and Diamante. Rosa defeated Ivelisse on last week’s Dynamite. Diamante and Ivelisse attacked Rosa after her win and Shida made the save.

An appearance by Chris Jericho and an appearance by Matt Hardy and Private Party have also been advertised.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team.

**********

Miro & Kip Sabian (w/Penelope Ford) defeated Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss

This was a mixed bag. I thought they used Miro smartly and he played to his strengths, mostly tagging in for a few power spots.

I thought that any talk of Miro having a new physique was overblown last week but I was wrong. He’s gigantic.

Janela and Kiss got some shine on Sabian early. Sabian and Miro cut Kiss off and worked him over. This was formulaic but the work was very good at this stage.

Janela got a hot tag and things got sloppy. Miro, Janela and Sabian brawled to the floor. Miro sold his ankle and was limping for a bit.

Miro tried to launch Sabian over the barricade to Janela. Janela was supposed to hit something mid-air but the camera crew didn’t get a good shot of it and it looked like they botched it anyway.

Miro used the former Accolade, now possibly called Game Over, for the submission win on Kiss.

**********

Eddie Kingston entered and demanded the hard camera be focused on him. He said he and Mox used to be cut from the same cloth but then Mox sold out and became a sports entertainer, selling his soul to the devil.

He demanded that Moxley face him. Moxley entered and faced off with Kingston. A security team kept them apart.

This was an excellent segment. Give me a Kingston promo every week.

**********

The announcers previewed the card. Kenny Omega joined the commentary desk for the next match.

**********

Hangman Page defeated Evil Uno (w/Dark Order)

This was exactly the same thing they did last week, there was no storyline advancement with Omega and Page. Omega was better on commentary this week than last week but still managed to talk under Page’s ring introduction.

JR tried to help Omega get over the storyline here and asked if he was going to help Page out. Omega said he was staying put because he’s a singles guy now.

Page is still getting his legs under him as a singles guy and his matches aren’t clicking on all cylinders yet.

They had a back and forth brawl before an ad break. Uno worked Page over in a picture-in-picture ad break.

Page made a comeback. Uno tossed him to the stage. Uno asked Dark Order to go to the back rather than interfere.

Page made another comeback and hit a standing shooting star for a two count. Uno hit a senton atomico for a two count.

Page hit a powerbomb with a stack cover for a near fall, then followed with a Buckshot Lariat for the pin.

**********

Schiavone interviewed Matt Jackson backstage. Matt said fans may have noticed that he and Nick have been acting out of character lately.

He broke Tony’s phone and continued to act like a jerk.

TNT Championship match: Mr. Brodie Lee defeated Orange Cassidy to retain the title

Not much to the match here but it was more a backdrop for the post-match angle.

Cassidy did his comedy kicks and pockets spot.

Cassidy tried a suicide dive but the Dark Order lackies caught him and allowed Lee to take over. Lee beat on Cassidy through an ad break.

Cassidy made a comeback and ran wild with suicide dives. JR went on his weekly crusade to undermine talent by ripping on dives. Cassidy hit a pair of tornado DDTs for near falls.

John Silver jumped in. Cassidy hit him with an Orange Punch. Lee used the distraction to hit a powerbomb and a discus lariat for the pin.

After the match, Cody’s music hit.

Cody entered. He has dark hair now.

Cody beat up some Dark Order lackies while Lee escaped.

**********

After a commercial, Lee cut a promo. He asked what kind of man Cody was for sending Dustin and Brandi to do his work for him while he was in a bubble somewhere.

Lee asked what kind of man Cody was that his wife was posting thirst traps and calling Lee “Daddy.”

Lee pulled out a dog collar and challenged Cody to a dog collar match. He gave Cody a week to respond.

This was another strong promo. The high point of this show tonight is the promos by a wide margin.

Matt Hardy and Private Party made their way to the ring. Hardy said it was his birthday.

Hardy said he was attacked from behind last week. He used a lot of words to say that someone with a mask attacked him with a pipe or bat and noted that right after he was laid out, Jericho and Hager entered with a bat.

Hardy said he has a lot of enemies but was pointing the finger at Jericho.

Jericho and The Inner Circle entered. Sammy Guevara is back. Jericho said he didn’t attack Hardy. Jericho was carrying a baseball bat.

Hardy wanted to fight the whole Inner Circle. Quen and Kassidy talked sense to him and reminded him he’s not cleared yet.

Quen said he is cleared and laid out Jericho last week. Kassidy said he’s ready to make Le Champion his bitch next week.

FTR and Tully Blanchard came to the ring for a promo. Tully said that Tag title matches on TV will now have a 20 minute time limit and he and FTR get to pick the opponents.

FTR are branding this as a weekly “brush with greatness.” They mentioned Best Friends as potential  opponents.

Best Friends entered. FTR acted like they were ready to defend the titles right away. A referee came out and was about to ring the bell when Dax stopped him.

Cash said it wouldn’t be fair to Best Friends if they wrestled tonight and advised them to take a couple weeks to heal up and then maybe call Tully and they’ll set something up.

This was an effective segment.

Thunder Rosa & Hikaru Shida defeated Ivelisse & Diamante

Rosa is great, Shida is great, this match was laid out really well, there’s just only so much Ivelisse and Diamante are capable of.

Rosa’s facepaint was a tribute to Road Warrior Animal.

Shida and Rosa were attacked during Shida’s intro.

Diamante and Ivelisse cut Rosa off. It’s kind of like when Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss are in together when Rosa and Ivelisse are in there at the same time in that it feels like a fight could break out at any time.

Shida got a hot tag during a commercial break. The match broke down.

Shida pinned Diamante after a falcon arrow and a shining wizard.

Dasha Gonzalez was backstage with Chris Jericho.

Jericho said Isiah Kassidy is going to be a big star one day but not next week. He said next week he’s going down when he faces Le Champion.

MJF entered. Jericho and MJF continued to do their mutual appreciation society gimmick. It was very good.

Jericho vs. Kassidy, Britt Baker in action, Ricky Starks vs. Darby Allin, FTR vs. SCU and a Jon Moxley appearance were advertised for next week’s Dynamite.

A 30 years of Jericho celebration was announced for the October 7 Dynamite.

The main event is next.

AEW World Championship match: Jon Moxley defeated Eddie Kingston to retain the title

Kingston is 38 and has worked a hard style for a long time. He’s at the top of his game as a promo and a character and that makes up for whatever physical limitations he has.

They had a brawl. It was intense and very good.

They traded a couple of cursory holds right awy but things quickly became the brawl that you would expect. They lit each other up with chops and strikes.

Kingston was in control before a commercial break and beat Moxley around ringside.

Moxley made a comeback with a tope and a piledriver for a near fall. Kingston hit a powerbomb for a two count. Kingston sold like he might have a stinger.

Moxley avoided two backfists and used a bulldog choke for the submission win.

A key point in the finish here is that Kingston never tapped, the referee called for the bell after Kingston appeared to be out.

**********

After the bell, Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix ran in to attack Moxley.

Will Hobbs ran in for the save. Penta and Fenix recovered and laid out Hobbs.

Darby Allin ran in to join the brawl. Allin sent Fenix and Penta outside wth skateboard shots.

Ricky Starks ran in and attacked Allin. Starks hit a big spear and hit Allin with the skateboard.

Kingston went back after Moxley.

The heels stood tall to close the show.
