Lady Frost confirms AEW departure, thanks ‘incredibly kind and passionate’ Tony Khan

Update —

It’s being reported that Lady Frost has quickly signed with MLW after the end of her AEW contract.

**********

Lady Frost is entering free agency with a positive attitude following her departure from AEW.

At the start of April, Frost became a free agent when her AEW contract expired. She sent out a tweet today confirming that she is no longer with the company and thanking Tony Khan for being an “incredibly kind and passionate boss” during the time they worked together.

“As of today, I am a free agent,” Frost announced. “I want to thank @TonyKhan for being an incredibly kind and passionate boss. I had some of the most incredible moments with @AEW and I am so grateful for the years that I spent there. For now, I’m on the hunt. Onto the next…”

Frost’s last AEW match was a January 2026 bout against Mina Shirakawa on Collision. She had been under contract since 2023 and competed in both AEW and ROH. Frost also represented AEW while traveling to Mexico for CMLL dates.

Before signing with AEW, Frost had made some appearances for the NWA and TNA. She has not revealed what her next move in pro wrestling will be.

Willie Mack addresses AEW status: ‘I want to wrestle’

Despite sending out a tweet that made people think he had departed AEW, Willie Mack says he is still with the company.

Mack posted a tweet on Tuesday night saying that he was “about to become a homeless superhero” because AEW doesn’t think he’s worth the money. He then sent out a follow-up saying that, for two years straight, he’s been calling every week to see if the promotion has anything for him:

  • When ya boy is about to become a homeless superhero because the booker doesn’t think he’s worth the money. #WhereTheBestWrestle
  • It’s like for 2 years straight I’d call every week and ask if you got anything for me? You signed right? You still getting paid right? I want to Wrestle.

Those tweets led to it being reported that Mack had departed AEW. In response to an article covering the situation, Mack stated that he is still with the promotion:

  • Wrong still there.

Mack also indicated that a fan was “wrong” for saying that he was only on a per-appearance deal and not a full AEW contract.

During his time with AEW, Mack has only wrestled sporadically, mostly featuring on ROH in the matches he’s had. The most recent of those was an ROH match in December 2025 where he and Aaron Solo lost to Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia. Mack has worked outside dates while with AEW and is a regular for Juggalo Championship Wrestling.

Mack wrestled for PWG early in his career and has held championships for Lucha Underground, TNA, NWA, and JCW.

An AEW/ROH departure was confirmed at the start of April with Lady Frost entering into free agency upon the expiration of her contract.

Lee Moriarty felt ‘weird’ about breaking Nigel McGuinness ROH record

Despite being the longest-reigning champion in the title’s history, Lee Moriarty doesn’t consider himself the greatest ROH Pure Champion of all time.

Moriarty has now been ROH Pure Champion for more than 580 days. He blew past the previous record in 2025 when he surpassed Nigel McGuinness’ 350-day reign with the belt. Breaking that record was a “weird” feeling for Moriarty, who holds McGuinness in very high esteem.

“It’s one of those things where it means a lot, but I also kind of feel weird about it because of the respect I have for the people that came before me with the title,” Moriarty said on AEW Unrestricted. “So I always feel weird about breaking other records because I hold them in such high reverence.

“Yeah, I’ve held the title for so long and I’ve defended it, I think, 12 times now. And that’s really cool. Personally, I still consider Nigel to be the greatest Pure Champion of all time because while he’s held it in 350 days, he defended it 17 times. He was the first person to defend it internationally. There’s all these other great things that I’m trying to live up to that and still elevate it, even though I’ve already been breaking records myself where I’ve defended it in Australia and Mexico for the first time and breaking the record with the time.”

Moriarty and McGuiness faced off for the title at ROH Final Battle 2025 with Moriarty getting the victory. That was a special moment for Moriarty, and he considers it one of the top 5-10 highlights of his career so far.

“Hella thank yous,” Moriarty responded when asked what their conversation was like after the match. “Just like… in disbelief and shock.”

The ROH Pure Championship was established in 2004 with a ruleset geared toward technical wrestling. A women’s version of the belt was introduced recently with Deonna Purrazzo becoming the inaugural champion.

Moriarty told AEW Unrestricted that Samoa Joe and Kosei Fujita are two dream opponents he’d love to defend the Pure title against. His biggest ambition in wrestling is to leave the industry better than he found it, and Moriarty’s goal for his title reign is to help advance the cause of pure wrestling.

ROH television is entering a new era with standalone tapings held at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida. Moriarty had a title defense on the first taping. Spoilers can be found here.

Mauro Ranallo to call ROH/MLP Global Wars event

For the first time ever, Mauro Ranallo is set to call an AEW/ROH-associated event.

It was announced today that Ranallo will be part of the broadcast team for Global Wars Canada, working with Ian Riccaboni and Don Callis on the commentary team. The show is being co-promoted by ROH and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and will take place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Friday, March 27.

A joint press release announcing Ranallo’s inclusion on the commentary team includes quotes from both Tony Khan and Scott D’Amore.

“Ring of Honor has always been defined by excellence both in the ring and on the microphone,” Khan said. “Mauro Ranallo’s return alongside Ian Riccaboni and Don Callis brings together three of the best voices in professional wrestling today. Global Wars represents a major moment in the continued partnership between Ring of Honor and Maple Leaf Pro, and we’re proud to present this event to fans around the world on WatchROH.com.”

“Having Mauro Ranallo return to Maple Leaf Pro is a tremendous moment for our company,” D’Amore said. “Mauro is one of the great broadcast voices in combat sports. Pairing Mauro with Ian Riccaboni and All Elite Wrestling star Don Callis creates an all-star booth worthy of the Global Wars stage and reflects the strength and international scope of our partnership with Ring of Honor.”

Ranallo is a combat sports announcer who has previously worked for WWE and NJPW. He was the subject of the 2018 Showtime documentary “Bipolar Rock ‘N Roller,” where he opened up about his struggle with bipolar disorder.

St. Clair College in Windsor is hosting Global Wars on March 27 and then MLP’s Uprising event on March 28. Ranallo will not be on commentary for Uprising due to a prior commitment with Premier Boxing Champions. Riccaboni and Callis will be handling commentary that night.

Maple Leaf Pro is a classic Canadian wrestling brand that was revived by D’Amore in 2024 following his departure from TNA Wrestling.

ROH to hold standalone TV taping in Jacksonville

This coming weekend, Ring of Honor will hold a standalone television taping in Jacksonville, Florida.

AEW’s website lists that WJCT Studios in Jacksonville will host an afternoon of ROH tapings on Sunday, March 1. The matches will air on future episodes of ROH TV on Honor Club. Tickets to the show are free, with everyone who pre-registers eligible to receive up to four tickets. All tickets are general admission, and it’s noted that space is limited. Once the venue reaches capacity, guests will be held until seating becomes available.

“On Sunday March 1st, Ring of Honor storms into WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, FL for a special afternoon of HonorClub tapings and you can be there live, for FREE!,” AEW’s website says. “Fill out your registration form for up to four free tickets and have the stars of ROH bring you out of your seat with incredible action that only they can deliver!”

ROH TV matches have usually been taped before or after AEW events since Tony Khan acquired the promotion, though there were some standalone ROH tapings early on. Whether these type of tapings will become more commonplace in the future remains to be seen.

WJCT is the PBS affiliate in Jacksonville.

Episodes of ROH TV air every Thursday on the Honor Club streaming service.

AEW/ROH wrestler Diamante gets engaged to girlfriend Kiera Hogan

New Year’s Eve was an extra special night for wrestling couple Diamante and Kiera Hogan.

The two announced their engagement on December 31 with Diamante (Priscilla Zuniga) showing off her new ring on social media. She and Hogan have been dating since 2019. They were formerly co-workers in both TNA and AEW. Diamante is still under contract with AEW and competes on the ROH brand, while Hogan departed the company in 2025.

TNA wrestler KC Navarro wrote that he was blessed to be there for the proposal.

“So blessed to be apart of this moment for my sister @diamantelax and @hoganknowsbest18,” Navarro posted to his Instagram stories.

AEW’s Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, Aubrey Edwards, Kevin Knight, and Skye Blue were among those to congratulate the couple on the news.

It was a busy night for Diamante with her engagement, but she still took a moment to send out a tweet celebrating Nightingale’s TBS Championship victory. Nightingale won the title from Mercedes Mone on the New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite.

Hogan was featured on the reality show Joseline’s Cabaret: California that aired on the Zeus Network last year. Some controversy was generated clip where she called wrestling a “stepping stone,” but Hogan clarified that wrestling has always been her first love. She just has other ambitions as well.

Deonna Purrazzo hoping to bring ROH Women’s Pure title to AEW programming

One of Deonna Purrazzo’s goals for the new year is to have her ROH Women’s Pure Championship featured on AEW programming.

While appearing on Gabby AF, Purrazzo was asked about potentially bringing her title to Dynamite to face off against some of the top stars in the AEW women’s division. Purrazzo said getting back on AEW television has long been a goal of hers — and she’s determined to put her Pure title on the map in 2026.

“Oh my gosh, absolutely. I mean, it was a goal before I was the champion, right? To get back on Dynamite,” Purrazzo responded. “And I’ve talked endlessly about, I’ve never wrestled Kris Statlander ever, so that would be a first-time match up. I’ve never wrestled Mercedes [Mone], and I think that we’ve both established our careers on submission finishes. And how great would it be to wrestle Mercedes in a Pure Rules match where we can rely heavily on those submissions?

“And so, absolutely, that’s something that I look forward to doing in 2026 is putting this Women’s Pure Championship on the map and saying there will be space for Deonna Purrazzo and Pure Rules on Dynamite. There will be space for me on Collision in a Pure Rules contest. And I know that I could get there. It’s just going to take some time, but I’m confident in that.”

Purrazzo became the inaugural Women’s Pure Champion by defeating Billie Starkz in a tournament final at ROH Final Battle 2025. For Purrazzo, it was the perfect way to end a year that was “really crappy.” She questioned herself a lot in 2025 and didn’t know if there was a place for her in wrestling anymore. There were times where Purrazzo wasn’t getting reps in the ring. And when she was getting reps, she wasn’t confident in herself. Purrazzo went back to her roots by taking more indie bookings in addition to her AEW/ROH work. This title win made all of the trials and tribulations she went through worth it.

ROH is a brand that Purrazzo has a strong connection with, going back to the days when the promotion was owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. She’s proud to see how far the ROH women’s division has come.

“We couldn’t even imagine a Women’s World Championship 10 years ago,” Purrazzo told Gabby AF. “And now we have a World Championship, a TV Championship, and a Pure Rules Championship. If you asked 20-year-old Deonna, like, her mind is blown, right? Like, no one believed in women in Ring of Honor that much. And to see that Athena has held the championship for over 1,000 days. She’s on Dynamite, on Collision, on pay-per-views now. She’s worked her way up to television with this championship and is putting women on the map. I want to do the same thing.”

The men’s and women’s Pure titles in ROH are both geared toward technical wrestlers, with a unique ruleset that includes each competitor having a limited number of rope breaks. Lee Moriarty is the current men’s champion.

Along with her title win, a highlight for Purrazzo in 2025 was launching her Boots to Boots podcast with husband Steve Maclin.

Athena on AEW women’s division: ‘We actually do have the best roster in the world’

While other promotions claim to have the best women’s division in the world, Athena does not believe anyone can match up to AEW/ROH.

In an interview with WFAA News in Texas, Athena was asked about the possibility of AEW holding an all-women’s event in the future. She said Tony Khan has absolutely thought about the idea, and it’s just a matter of getting the timing right. Talent is not an issue, Athena believes, with her saying AEW/ROH has a stacked roster with eager women.

“I know TK has absolutely thought about that. I think it’s just about timing when it comes to those things,” she said about the potential all-women’s event. “And he’s been very open about it. We have the best roster in the world. I know everyone says it, but we actually do have the best roster in the world. We have Mercedes Mone, Toni Storm, myself — the Minion Overlord and Forever ROH Champion.

“But we have a very stacked roster and we have a lot of eager women. I like to say Ring of Honor is the girl show, because we have women’s wrestling across the board. From Leila Grey to Billy Starkz to that hussy Sareee who showed up out of nowhere when I was on vacation. Don’t know what’s up with that, don’t want to know. We have Alex Windsor. We have a beautiful platform where we get to see these women grow on Ring of Honor and then see them progress through AEW.

“So, yes, absolutely. I know it’s something that TK has in mind, especially with the tag team tournament. I just think we have to have baby steps and establish people more to get there. But, yes, I do know that that is on his brain, and it has been on his brain since I have been in AEW. So I know it’s just about timing.”

Athena has been ROH Women’s World Champion for nearly three years now. She is partnering with Mercedes Mone in the tournament to crown the first-ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Outside of AEW/ROH, Athena’s indie promotion Metroplex Wrestling is presenting its second all-women’s event — titled “Who Runs The World? 2” — in Irving, Texas this Saturday. She told WFAA that her goal with this passion project is to showcase the power of women’s wrestling.

Sammy Guevara to have mystery partner for ROH Death Before Dishonor title match

With Dustin Rhodes out of action for a while, Sammy Guevara will have a new partner starting with ROH Death Before Dishonor.

Tony Khan has announced that Guevara and a yet-to-be-revealed partner will defend the ROH Tag Team titles against The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) at Friday night’s event in Philadelphia. This won’t be the only title defense for Guevara that night, though, with Khan also confirming that Guevara will join Ross & Marshall Von Erich for an ROH Six-Man Tag Team title defense against Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo).

Rhodes — who has not wrestled since the end of July — underwent a double knee replacement last week. He was a double champion in ROH, holding the promotion’s Tag Team titles with Guevara and the Six-Man belts with The Von Erichs.

Despite the injury, the 56-year-old Rhodes has promised that this will not be the end of his in-ring career.

Death Before Dishonor is taking place at the 2300 Arena in Philly amid AEW’s ongoing residency at the venue. The show will stream live for Honor Club subscribers starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.

ROH Death Before Dishonor 2025 —

  • ROH World Champion Bandido defends against Hechicero
  • ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defends against Mina Shirakawa
  • ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty defends against Xelhua
  • Fight Without Honor: QT Marshall vs. Paul Walter Hauser

Scotty 2 Hotty on competing with son at AEW taping: That was ‘special’

Scott Garland — the former Scotty 2 Hotty — had a special experience this week competing alongside his son at an AEW taping.

At Wednesday’s Dynamite in Scotland, Garland teamed up with his son Keagan on the ROH TV taping portion of the show. They took on Jon Cruz & Bret Levi in a tag team match.

In a tweet, Garland thanked everyone at AEW who made this moment possible for him.

“Last night was special!,” he wrote on Thursday. “My son, @KeaganGarland and I were able to team up in a match before the cameras started rolling for AEW Dynamite at the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow, Scotland. Thank you to @AEW and everyone that played a part in making this moment happen for us.”

Garland started working as a coach and producer for AEW on a tryout basis in 2023 after previously working behind the scenes in WWE. He then took on the role full-time at the beginning of 2024.

This was Garland’s second time ever competing at an AEW event. The former WWE Tag Team and Light Heavyweight Champion first wrestled for AEW in a dark match in December 2023.

Keagan Garland is an indie wrestler who recently became the first graduate of Ace Steel’s Foundation of Wrestling school after starting in the program as a beginner.

AEW reveals location for Final Battle 2025, December Collision

This December, AEW will be in Columbus, Ohio for back-to-back events.

It was announced today that, for the second straight year, AEW will be part of the GalaxyCon Columbus convention. ROH will present its Final Battle 2025 pay-per-view at Battelle Grand on Friday, December. The venue — which is a ballroom at the Columbus Convention Center — will also host AEW Collision live on Saturday, December 6.

Tickets for the shows are set to go on sale to the general public next Monday (August 18) at 10 a.m. Eastern time.

AEW was first part of GalaxyCon Columbus in December 2024, putting on an episode of Collision that featured matches from last year’s Continental Classic tournament.

Final Battle has been ROH’s year-end PPV since the event was first introduced in 2002. Last year’s edition was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City with Athena vs. Billie Starkz and Chris Jericho vs. Matt Cardona as the top two matches.

GalaxyCon calls itself a “festival of fandom” that celebrates comic books, pop culture, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, gaming, cosplay, and more with events across the United States. The Columbus convention is happening from December 5-7.
