Tonight’s AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash is the go-home show for Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view.

The Continental Classic Gold League finals are set for the show, with Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, and Jay White squaring off in a three-way to decide who will represent Gold League in the tournament finals at Worlds End.

The Continental Classic Blue League finals are also set for the show, with Bryan Danielson taking on Eddie Kingston with a spot in the tournament finals at stake.

Renee Paquette will interview Mariah May on tonight’s episode. May has been trying to align herself with Women’s World Champion Toni Storm ahead of Storm’s Worlds End title defense against Riho.

A Keith Lee appearance has also been advertised for the show.

AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as we go right to entrances for our opening contest.

Jon Moxley defeated Swerve Strickland & Switchblade Jay White in the Continental Classic Gold League Finals

(A hell of a way to end the Gold League, as these three delivered a PPV caliber battle in this one. White used the no DQ in regards to it being a three way to his advantage, but it wasn’t meant to be, as Moxley was able to get his win back and revenge from last week. This was also a smart finish to keep Strickland from taking a pin or submission loss.)

White was dispatched early, which allowed Strickland & Moxley to deck each other with strikes before Moxley was dumped outside as well. Moxley sent both Strickland & White into the crowd, where White was crotched on a guard rail. Strickland set up Moxley on a chair, got a running start and connected with a pump knee. The brawl continued up the steps before going back to ringside where White chop blocked the leg of Moxley that was softened up last week. With Moxley down on the floor, White zoned in on Strickland in the ring with multiple near falls. White went after Moxley once more, which allowed Strickland to try a dive, but White side stepped, only to eat a sliding knee on the apron by Strickland. The pace quickened when Strickland & Moxley were in the ring, as Strickland bit the middle finger being flipped at him by Moxley and followed with a lariat. White tried to pull Strickland to the floor, but got caught and had the fingers stomped on before Moxley was sent outside onto White. This led to Strickland connecting on a High Fly Flow cross body on both men into picture in picture.

Moxley flew in with a tope on Strickland when things returned, as back inside a stiff corner lariat, punches and biting at the head led to a stalling piledriver for two. Anvil elbows by Moxley with a transition to a key lock, which Strickland escaped into the corner, went up top, but dove right into a Paradigm Shift for two. Moxley cleared off the ring attendant table as White appeared with a chair shot to the back, as No DQ’s due to this being triple threat, as White cracked Moxley in the bad leg as well. Back inside, Strickland got a wildly close pin attempt before a striking battle ensued. Strickland kicked out the leg and connected on the House Call, which led to the powerbomb transition into the powerslam. Top rope 450 Splash connected, but Moxley flew in to break up the count before our second commercial break.

A three way slugfest welcomed us back from break before White laid out Strickland with a half and half until Moxley applied a rear naked choke on White. Once more, Strickland flew in with a House Call to break it up, but Moxley leveled him with a lariat, only to turn into Blade Runner for two in a great sequence. White again went to the chair and laid out both men before wedging the chair in the corner. To the surprise of no one, Strickland turned the table and sent White crashing into the chair. Strickland nearly stole the win off Moxley the same way Moxley won a few weeks ago, with a handful of trunks, but got two. Two big boots and discus lariat dropped Moxley, who fought off the JML Driver, but as Strickland went to the top for the Swerve Stomp, White sent him crashing to the floor. Moxley nearly beheaded White with a lariat and hit the Death Rider to get the win.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana, who is frustrated following the loss. Strickland said he wanted this so badly, as the Continental Classic was breathing life back into the wrestling business. Strickland brings up Keith Lee wanting to pay him a visit tonight and said he’s not busy on Saturday. Schiavone said Lee is there tonight, but in case he missed Strickland, there was a contract for him for a match at World’s End. Nana was furious this didn’t get his approval and Strickland calmed him down saying they’ll see if Lee shows up on Saturday. The match graphic is shown and I guess this match is official, even though Strickland never signed the contract. Also, Schiavone said Lee was there tonight, why couldn’t he just give Strickland the contract himself? Regardless, we’re most likely getting this match, one year in the making, this Saturday.

-Renee Paquette is on stage and welcomes Mariah May, asking her why she attacked Riho last week? May said she did so to support Toni Storm, which we all should be doing. May felt 2023 didn’t have enough Glamour, so the first Dynamite of 2024 will be her in ring debut. 2024 will be the year of Mariah, which got a few boos from the otherwise quiet crowd. Riho’s music hit, as the chase to the ring was on, as May begged off as Toni Storm ran to the ring and tried to attack with her AEW Women’s Title, but Riho dodged. Luther saved Storm from a Tiger Feint Kick, as Riho dropped them both with a cross body to the floor as May checked on Storm, who was distraught as being upstaged.

-Top Flight & Action Andretti are backstage and said they aren’t taking their loss to The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass to heart, but want to keep going. Before they could make their open challenge, Orange Cassidy saunters in with Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero and accepts the match for Rampage. Romero said don’t worry about Cassidy; he did the same thing to him last week. Andretti said they’ll be ready and randomly drank quickly a bottle of water for hydration. We got the Taz giggle on commentary as a result.

**********

-A video package for Miro was shown saying only once the Continental Classic was finished would he seek to fight Andrade. Miro doesn’t want to fight Andrade because he’s a client of his wife; he wants to fight because Andrade is an A-hole. The match will be happening at World’s End.

The Don Callis Family Boxing Week Celebration

Tony Schiavone introduces Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher to the ring. Callis said there’s been a lot of stuff going on outside of wrestling for him the last two weeks, which has been very difficult. Callis couldn’t have gotten through it without his Family, so to honor them, he got them all portraits. All of these were hilarious, with the Hobbs portrait having Callis throwing up a West side sign and the one with Fletcher was of them boxing kangaroos. There was a fourth portrait we didn’t see, as Sammy Guevara’s music hit and Callis was caught off guard by the return. Guevara cut off Callis and said long time no talk, as Callis asked if Guevara got his gift for his newborn? Callis revealed the fourth portrait was of the entire Family with Guevara holding his child in the middle. Guevara was upset and asked who the hell told Callis to put his baby in the picture? Callis said Guevara wasn’t mentally capable of being a parent, so they’re there for him. Guevara said Callis is making things about himself and never heard from Callis when he was out with a concussion.

Callis said he was disappointed Guevara dropped the ball, got hurt and left for five months to have babies. Callis put out the ultimatum to choose his other family or the Don Callis Family. If Guevara picks the wrong choice, he’ll be remembered as big of a disappointment as a wrestler as he will be as a parent. Guevara shoved down Callis before Hobbs and crew attacked Guevara from behind. Chris Jericho made the save with his baseball bat and smashed all the portraits but one, as Jericho handed off the bat to Guervara, who smashed his painting. Jericho & Guevara slowly teased shaking hands, but hugged before Big Bill & Ricky Starks appeared and attacked both men. The lights went out and Sting & Darby Allin showed up to make the save and drop the Tag Team champs with baseball bat shots. Sting, Allin, Guevara & Jericho all stared each other down. Jericho needed a partner now that Kenny Omega will be out for an extended time, so ending the Guevara heel run makes sense in this regard, even though I wish it went longer.

-Roderick Strong & The Kingdom are in the back showing off their bulletin board of who is and isn’t The Devil. All signs pointed to MJF as The Devil and Strong promises to expose Max. This board gave off Charlie from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia vibes with his Pepe Silvia scene.

Eddie Kingston defeated Bryan Danielson in the Continental Classic Blue League Finals

(The match these two had a few weeks ago was fantastic and I thought this was even better. The story they told of Danielson wanting Kingston to quit like he always does, just had the fans behind Kingston even more than before. The heart and drive of Kingston led him to defeated Danielson for the first time in his career. The post match back and forth was just excellent stuff between Moxley & Kingston.)

The crowd is loudly behind Kingston here and Danielson knows it, as Kingston connected on a Saito suplex and huge tope to the floor to follow. Loud chops around ringside from Kingston before heading back in the ring where Danielson got his revenge with chops of his own. Kingston exploded out of the corner with a double hand chop before going to the apron where Danielson punted out the leg and hit a DDT on the edge of the ring, followed by a flying knee on the floor.

Danielson controlled the entire break and dodged a Kingston comeback that led to trash talk, saying Kingston is just going to ultimately quit like always. The insults and kicks fired Kingston up, as Danielson was planted with an Exploder to give Kingston hope. Danielson countered a back fist, but Kingston countered a LeBell Lock into a DDT for the double down. Machine gun chops from Kingston, as Danielson spat at Kingston during the onslaught, which resulted in just more chops. Danielson countered another Exploder and sank in the LeBell Lock, but Kingston got the ropes. Both men fought up in the ropes, where Kingston found himself trapped in the Tree of Woe, as Danielson hit a running dropkick. To the ropes they went again, this time with Danielson hitting anvil elbows, but Kingston spun out of a back superplex, landing on Danielson’s face for the double down into commercial.

We come back to a chop battle until Danielson changed levels and put in kicks, but Kingston fired back with more super loud chops. Danielson’s chest is beat red, but still managed to block a chop into a bridging suplex for two. During the Yes kicks, Kingston spat at Danielson, avoided the corner dropkick and turned Danielson inside out with a lariat followed by a Northern Lights Bomb for two. Both traded pin attempts and home run shots, as Danielson connected with the Busaiku Knee, but Kingston barely kicked out. The facial expressions of Kingston when he ate a series of anvil elbows were a master class, as Danielson opted to kick in Kingston’s head and demanded referee Bryce stop it, but Kingston lifted one finger to flip off Danielson. Wanting the final shot, Danielson charged for another Busaiku Knee, but ran right into a backfist and half and half suplex. Another wild backfist led to a Kawada powerbomb high stack to give Kingston the pinfall win.

Post match, Jon Moxley came to the ring to check on Danielson before Kingston stared down his best friend. Moxley took the microphone and said all he’s ever asked from Kingston was 100% his best. For someone who thinks the whole world hates him, Kingston sure has a lot of people behind him. AEW fans love Eddie Kingston and they deserve his very best. The problem is, Moxley knows Kingston better than he knows himself and knows Kingston can’t beat him. Moxley said he’s done favors for Kingston in the past, but if Kingston wants the Triple Crown, he’s going to have to earn it.

Kingston said Moxley talked enough and said not to treat him like his young boy bitch, Wheeler Yuta. Kingston reminded Moxley he broke in before him. Kingston the King of the Bums is going to push Moxley on Saturday. Kingston reminded that Moxley said the company needs people like Kingston around to shape the younger guys. Kingston said Moxley needs to show his fighting spirit and he’s going to bust Moxley up and enjoy it before saying that was his out line.

**********

Lexy Nair is backstage with Christian Cage and Nick & Shayna Wayne, as Cage was furious that he was sitting here all night waiting for Adam Copeland, who ran in and attacked Nick Wayne and started brawling with Cage before security showed up. Copeland had no problem going through them, as the brawl with Cage spilled into the hall and other wrestlers had to separate the two, with Copeland breaking free from the group to get in a few more shots. Copeland yelled that Cage is his, with Cage saying Copeland was a coward.

Skye Blue defeated Kris Statlander

(This turned into a pretty solid match, with Blue picking up the biggest win in her AEW career as a result. The seeds are being planted by Hathaway for dissention between Statlander & Willow and I need more Stokely on commentary, his banter with Taz was hilarious.)

Stokely Hathaway joined commentary for this match, as Excalibur said Hathaway is trying to drive a wedge between Statlander & Willow Nightingale, as Hathaway was insulted at such an accusation. Statlander got an early takedown and no sold a shot from behind by Blue, who was rag dolled with multiple bodyslams. Blue tried a head scissors, but Statlander cart wheeled out and hit a dropkick for two. A delayed vertical suplex from Statlander, as Hathaway talked about the toughness of Statlander coming back from injuries while his cousin, Leon, works at Auto Zone, twisted his ankle and has been out for five years.

Blue gained control right before picture in picture until Statlander fired back with a series of clotheslines. Statlander connected with a Chaos Theory for two, but Blue answered with a Code Blue for a two count of her own. Blue wanted a second rope hurricanrana, but Statlander countered into a powerbomb. While going back and forth on commentary with Taz, I should point out Hathaway made a Tevin Campbell reference. Blue & Statlander fought in the corner, where Blue slid out of a superplex attempt and took the ref. This allowed Julia Hart to appear from under the ring and deck Statlander with the TBS Title. Blue connected on a Cheeky Nandos kick, followed by an Avalanche Code Blue for the victory.

Post match, Blue kept attacking Statlander with Hart delivering a sliding clothesline to the neck. Blue slapped on a Dragon Sleeper before Willow Nightingale ran to the ring and cleaned house. As Hart & Blue retreated, Abadon appeared on the stage and the duo high-tailed it.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Ruby Soho & Saraya, who interrupted to tell her she has a birthday present for Soho. Harley Cameron walked in and Saraya said she’s a good little helper who will do anything; she’s good with her hands. Soho said so she hears before getting a phone call from Angelo Parker. Soho walks off and Paquette asked how this partnership with Saraya & Cameron happened as Cameron brought out a butcher knife and Saraya had to calm her down. What an odd turn that took to end the segment.

The Devil’s Henchmen defeated MJF for the ROH Tag Team Titles

(While I’m not a fan of your World Champion taking a pin right before the PPV, at least we finally have those ROH Tag Titles off MJF. This was all storyline, as the match started at the top of the hour. The reveal that Joe has been in cahoots with The Devil was a nice little swerve before the main event this Saturday. I do think we still need a Devil reveal at World’s End, hopefully the reveal delivers.)

The two henchmen came in through the crowd and MJF walked out first, but Samoa Joe was shown screaming in pain backstage, clutching his leg. MJF told referee Bryce he’s doing this on his own, as his shoulder is heavily bandaged up. MJF rushed one of the henchmen at the bell and tried to unmask the man, but was hung up by the other, who was ultimately back dropped to the floor. MJF tried to unmask the man, but the ref was distracted by henchman 1, allowing a third henchmen to attack MJF with a pipe ringside. Back inside, MJF was dropped with the Heatseeker and pinned.

Post match, all three henchmen attacked MJF when Samoa Joe hobbled to the ring with a chair with the henchmen bailing. As Joe helped up MJF, The Devil appeared on the big screen with the words Pleasure Doing Business With You shown. Joe then laid out MJF with the chair, revealing he wasn’t injured and he’s been working with The Devil. Joe told MJF he did this to him and laid out MJF with the Muscle Buster, holding the AEW World Title high with his boot on MJF to end the show.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as we see footage of last week’s attack by masked men on The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass, as we’re told security has been beefed up tonight.

Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta defeated International Champion Orange Cassidy & FTW Champion HOOK

(This was easily the most competitive HOOK match in his AEW career I’d say. He held his own with the upper level of competition, as we are absolutely getting HOOK vs. Yuta for the FTW Title, but as of this moment, it’s not official for the PPV, yet. I like having Cassidy being forced to realize maybe one of the biggest moves in his arsenal might not work against Moxley this Saturday, thus really shaking his confidence going forward.)

Cassidy & HOOK went through the crowd to attack Moxley & Yuta before the bell, as there was an all out brawl before the match officially began. HOOK & Yuta went to the ring to start things off, as Moxley & Cassidy continued in the stands. HOOK connected on an El Camino and Judo throw on Yuta before Moxley made the tag and dared HOOK to fight him, as HOOK obliged with a release German. Moxley quickly fought back and made equally as fast tags with Yuta, keeping HOOK isolated. HOOK tried REDRUM on Moxley, but was pulled outside by Yuta, as Cassidy came flying in with a dive to save his partner. Cassidy made the hot tag and hit a diving top rope DDT on Moxley before unleashing the little kicks that ramped up in intensity. Moxley countered as tilt a whirl DDT and turned it into a Hart Attack with Yuta as the BCC were in control heading to commercial.

Moxley mocked the little kicks from Cassidy, but ate a kip up dropkick that led to the double down. Yuta & HOOK tagged in and slugged it out until HOOK hit a Northern Lights for two. Yuta was able to skin the cat low and hit a release German, but HOOK answered with one of his own. Yuta no sold into a rolling elbow and both collided with a double clothesline. Both slowly rose to their feet, but Moxley leveled HOOK from behind until Cassidy made the save. HOOK leveled Yuta with a lariat, but took too long to follow up and Moxley appeared with a Cutter out of nowhere. Cassidy popped in and leveled Cassidy with an Orange Punch, but Moxley no sold it and sent Cassidy packing. HOOK was planted with a Death Rider, as Yuta got the seatbelt pin for the victory.

Post match, Moxley said Cassidy is and will always be nothing and he’s going to grind him to dust and become the International Champion again. Excalibur talked about the confidence of Cassidy being shattered due to Moxley no selling the Orange Punch. HOOK briefly had REDRUM applied to Moxley and Taz said that seemed to have more an effect on him than the Punch did.

Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland Face To Face

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and informs us all that if there is any physicality tonight, the match Saturday will not only be called off, but each man will be suspended for the rest of 2023. Schiavone tried to ask Strickland how he justified going into a Page’s house when Strickland took the mic, but Page answered and said it’s because Strickland is a waste of life and a dumbass. Page said Strickland is dumber today than he was 2 years ago when he got fired. Page says Strickland doesn’t have it in him to be AEW Champion, he’s not man enough, and it’s the reason his fiancé left him and why his kids won’t talk to him. Strickland surrounds himself with yes men, as Prince Nana is just using him while doing his little dance.

Page said the money Nana makes Strickland he uses to buy weed from high school kids and after Page is done kicking Strickland’s ass, he’s kicking Nana’s ass and taking his weed. You can audibly hear Taz cracking at that line. Strickland should never have come into Page’s house, but they don’t need cops because Page is the judge, jury and executioner at the bottom of hell. Page said the stipulation was not to lay hands on Strickland, but they didn’t say sh*t about Nana, as Page decked Nana and security intervened. Page beat down security and laid one out with a Buckshot Lariat as Strickland & Nana bailed and looked on from the ramp. Strickland never said a word during this segment.

-Lexy Nair is backstage with Roderick Strong & The Kingdom, as Strong said he knows who The Devil is and they call Adam Cole, who appears on the TV. Strong said 100% Max is The Devil, but Cole said it’s not Max, maybe it’s Strong, which Strong denied. Cole quickly hangs up, leaving Cole and crew frustrated.

Skye Blue defeated Red Velvet in a TBS Title Eliminator Match

(This match had a few hiccups in the early going, but really picked up in intensity the second half, with the crowd very much into it. With this win, Blue advances to Full Gear in a triple threat match for the TBS Title against Julia Hart and champion Kris Statlander.)

Kris Statlander is shown watching backstage; as Velvet blocked an arm drag and it led to a delayed stare down. Velvet did her splits into a choke in the corner, as Blue bailed outside to regroup and it benefitted, as a DDT on the apron led to Blue smashing Velvet into the barricade and steps, controlling the action heading into break. Blue was visibly heeling it up during picture in picture, mocking Velvet.

Velvet was trapped head first in the corner, where Blue fired off a thrust kick, trying a follow up powerbomb, which Velvet rolled through and there was a series of one count pin attempts before both ladies connected on head kicks into a double down. Velvet was up first with a cazadora into a bulldog for two. Both ladies went for their home run shots, but Velvet went for another bulldog, only this time, Blue caught her with Skye Fall for two of her own. Velvet countered the step up knee in the ropes into a powerbomb with a high stack.

Velvet hit a wheelbarrow victory roll out of the corner ala Cassandro, tried Just Desserts, but Blue rolled out and both ladies traded thrust kicks. Blue blocked a merry go round kick, hit a knee lift and really had to work for a Code Blue to win it. Statlander was again shown watching, but Julia Hart was as well this time.

-A video package of Miro talking about his hot and flexible wife bringing in a storm to AEW. For years, he stood by and let her do whatever she wanted. CJ has a tendency to bring out the worst not only in herself, but Miro as well. Miro said he plans to show that to Daniel Garcia this week on Collision.

**********

-RJ City is backstage with Mariah May at a locker room that says Not Toni Storm, as Luther answers at first and slams the door shut, so RJ has to put in a good word. Luther opens the door and May told Storm how much of a fan she is, she’s come from Stardom, just like Storm did. Storm said she wasn’t doing autographs and didn’t catch a word of that. May said if she needed anything and left, as Storm told Luther to get Tony Khan to give her a tune up match on Friday and also a luffa.

Samoa Joe defeated Jon Cruz

(Well, I guarantee Serpentico was cheering for Cruz in this one, but it was just not mean to be. The missed cross body is absolutely gif worthy.)

Cruz tried to throw low kicks and Joe just checked them all and flattened him. Joe lit up Cruz with corner shots, ending in an enzugiri. Cruz tried to fight back and attempted a cross body off the top, which Joe side stepped and Cruz’s reaction mid air was priceless. Joe slapped on the Coquina Clutch for the quick win. Joe took the mic post match and again offered MJF his hand of friendship, but the time is running out. “I am Samoa Joe and I am inevitable.”

-A video package of Tony Khan’s Continental Classic announcement is recapped from Collision this past week. Bryan Danielson is the first participant in the 12 man G1 style field. If Danielson can’t get to New Japan for a G1 before his full time career wraps, might as well bring the G1 to him. I can’t wait to see who else will be involved in this.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated Penta el Zero Miedo & Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes)

(This match was phenomenal and filled with just as many high spots that you would expect from these four. As if there were any question The Bucks would be heels going into Saturday, this answered that, as they actually got the crowd to boo them for the finish. While I miss Rey Fenix, it’d be foolish to say Komander didn’t shine here, he was excellent, as were Penta & The Bucks as well.)

Nick and Komander started fast, but both men’s partners made blind tags and we get a wild series of missed moves before everyone collided with big boots and a quadruple kip up. The Bucks shook hands, but turned it into a Superkick Party and opted to shake hands with each other instead. The Bucks followed with double dives before back inside, Matt ran right into a superkick by Penta. An assisted rocket launcher cross body by Komander connected, but as he flipped into a cazadora, Nick was right there with a slingshot face buster heading into picture in picture.

15% friendly fire by The Bucks as things returned from break, as Komander hit a step up twisting hurricanrana on Nick off the ropes, followed by a tight rope walk hurricanrana sending Nick crashing onto his brother outside. Penta met The Bucks soon after with a dive, before one Sling Blade back inside on Matt and another dive on Nick. Penta started a Superkick Party of his own before Komander launched off his partner for a double spike DDT. Penta dropped Matt with Made in Japan for two, as Komander wants his rope walk Shooting Stat, but Matt caught him with rolling Nothern Lights. The Bucks tried a Meltzer Driver, but Komander cut things off, while Penta hit Fear Factor on Nick on the apron. Komander, meanwhile, hit a snap hurricanrana pin on Matt for two.

While Matt was in a fireman’s carry by Penta, Komander walked the ropes and sprung off his back to deliver a Destroyer onto Nick, as Penta hit his new fireman’s carry Jackhammer for two. Matt & Penta had a slugfest before trading superkicks and pump kicks. Matt held his leg and referee Rick Knox checked on him, allowing Nick to hit multiple low blows and Judas Effect on Komander. The Bucks connected on the BTE Trigger to win it.

**********

-Lexy Nair is backstage with The Young Bucks and asks them why they cheated to win tonight? Matt said sources told him The Bucks don’t give a damn anymore, as Kenny Omega walked in and talked about The Bucks of old. Nick said their heat isn’t with Omega; it’s with Jericho, someone he won’t have to team with anymore after they win on Saturday and can focus on The Elite again. Jericho walks in and tries to get Omega to leave with him, calling The Bucks “kids” as a pull apart happened between The Bucks & Jericho, as Omega was just stuck in the middle.

The Gunns (Austin & Colten w/Juice Robinson) defeated Peter Avalon & Jacoby Watts

Instantly The Gunns chucked Avalon outside and hit 3:10 to Yuma on Watts to win it. Post match, they told MJF this is what happens when it’s 2 on 2, imagine what it’ll be like 2 on 1 at Full Gear.

-A video package of Wardlow training is shown, who said he saw fear in the Devil’s eyes, as MJF’s time is running out. As God as his witness, Wardlow will make The Devil his bitch, as the camera cut to The Devil before quickly cutting away.

Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Kota Ibushi & Paul Wight defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher & Brian Cage in a Like a Dragon Gaiden Street Fight

(A whole heck of a lot happened in this match and I tried my best to cover it all, but there were some wild spots in this one. They did keep Paul Wight’s involvement in this to a minimum, but the one bump he took looked brutal. Speaking of brutal bumps, seeing someone take a brainbuster on a bicycle was wild, as was the superplex to the floor by Cage on Omega. This feud has to continue at least somehow, since the only unofficial Don Callis Family member took the loss here.)

Ibushi & Omega are in their ring gear, while Jericho & Wight are rocking suits. Immediately everyone starts brawling, as Jericho got a bat shot in on Fletcher, as Wight was there to choke slam him off the stage through a table before going backstage, leaving it three on three. Ibushi & Takeshita are in the ring slugging it out, as Ibushi absorbs the strikes before Omega joins and The Golden Lovers fire off their signature double team offense. Ibushi & Omega take a really long time, waiting for Cage & Takeshita to get into position to hit the double Golden Triangle moonsaults. We see Wight & Hobbs outside of the arena, with Wight slamming Hobbs on the hood of a car. Jericho & Omega take turns whacking Takeshita & Cage with signs before Omega tries to use a barbed wire bat, but Takeshita fights him off, as Cage launched Jericho into the ring attendant table. Ibushi rode a bicycle down the ramp, as Excalibur couldn’t help himself to do a Dusty Rhodes impression, as Ibushi had a pipe in hand and hit the lightest shots you’ll ever see on Takeshita & Fletcher before actually taking a neck bump off the bicycle by a Cage clothesline.

Outside, we cut to Hobbs, who actually has Wight up in a bodyslam position and tosses him off a stack of wood onto the hood of the car in a wild looking spot. Back to the ring, Takeshita has the bicycle in the ring and is using it as a weapon on everyone in his path before delivering a brainbuster on Ibushi onto the bicycle. We go to commercial and when things return, Jericho & Takeshita are backstage brawling, while Hobbs is trash talking Wight, who is still being attended to by doctors following his fall.

Cage set up tables ringside, as Fletcher has recovered and returned to the ring, as a pallet has been brought in the ring, where Omega was slammed on it via double suplex. Fletcher wanted a bottle shot on Omega, but Omega fought off both men and popped Cage with a V-Trigger. Fletcher charged and Omega blasted him with the bottle, possibly cutting his own hand in the process. Ibushi flew in to save his partner, while Takeshita & Jericho continue their brawl backstage, where Takeshita climbed the refrigerators, dove off and Jericho used a fire extinguisher before hitting a Judas Effect. The Golden Lovers wanted a home run shot on Cage, but Hobbs appeared and laid both out with World Strongest Slams. In an amazing spot, Cage hit a superplex from the ring to the floor through the set up tables before going to another commercial break.

Jericho appeared in the crowd and made his way to the ring to get revenge on Hobbs, who was there to meet and flatten Jericho with a spinebuster. Hobbs missed a corner splash and Jericho hit a Code Breaker, but Cage was there for a F5. Omega & Fletcher took turns with Snap Dragons, as Fletcher, bleeding from the bottle shot, brought Ibushi to the apron and hit a Tombstone through a sign set up on a stack of chairs. Omega & Jericho hit a V-Trigger and Judas Effect on Hobbs before duct taping him to the ropes and taping his mouth as week. Somehow, Ibushi is up before Fletcher and tosses chairs to Jericho & Omega. Cage was still alive, as he dropped Jericho with a pump handle slam, tried a Drill Claw on Omega, but Jericho hit a bat shot. After a few V-Triggers and One Winged Angel on Cage, Omega won it.

MJF walks to the ring and said no matter how hard he tries to out run his past, it’ll catch up to him, sometimes he feels cursed. MJF apologizes to The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass for getting caught up in the crossfire that is MJF and hopes they feel better. All MJF has ever wanted was to be a champion and he’s proud to say he’s made it to that mountain top. However, the air up on that mountain is thin and sees challengers trying to climb up at every direction. MJF is afraid he’s going to let the fans down, just like he did Adam Cole & The Acclaimed. The old MJF would’ve ran, but despite being afraid, he’s not willing to quit and you need to send an army to make him come down off the mountain. Jay White has been walking around with a title he hasn’t earned and this Saturday has a chance to knock MJF off the mountain, but he doesn’t think he can, nor will anyone else. MJF said whoever stole his Devil mask, he will find them and there will be hell to pay.

Switchblade Jay White appeared on stage and told MJF to cut the act and stop embarrassing himself. MJF is trying so hard to be the hero when he’s always been the villain. MJF isn’t fooling anyone with his Devil mask diversions, since MJF has said he’s the Devil on multiple occasions. White said MJF should know how quickly the fans will turn on him, but MJF knows that because he hasn’t changed. White said MJF’s days as champion are numbered and said all his catchphrases before saying he had two words for MJF…Get Him. Bullet Club Gold snuck in from behind and was laid out with a Left Hand of God by Juice Robinson and 3:10 to Yuma by The Gunns, as White hit a Blade Runner for good measure, covering MJF for a three count. Commentary talk about how MJF is all alone and he has no allies heading into Full Gear. The show ends with Bullet Club Gold standing tall over MJF, with Samoa Joe watching from backstage, Taz saying the offer still stands; MJF might want to take Joe up on it.

AEW Dynamite live results: WrestleDream go-home show

On the road to WrestleDream, AEW stops in Broomfield, Colorado for tonight’s go-home episode of Dynamite.

MJF & Adam Cole are scheduled to defend their ROH Tag Team titles against The Righteous at WrestleDream. But Cole’s status has been put into question after suffering an injury last week. Tonight, we’ll hear from MJF & Cole and should get an update on whether the tag title match is still happening.

The Lucha Bros, The Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy & Hook, and The Gunns are facing off at Sunday’s pay-per-view in a match where the winner receives a future AEW Tag Team title shot. Tonight, Penta El Zero Miedo, Matt Jackson, Cassidy, and Austin Gunn meet in a four-way singles match.

There will be a contract signing for Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland’s match at WrestleDream on tonight’s show. Plus, Jim Ross will conduct a sit-down interview with Christian Cage and Darby Allin. Christian is defending the TNT Championship against Allin in a two-out-of-three falls match on Sunday.

Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart is also set for tonight. Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as we go right to our opening title match

Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Jeff Jarrett (w/Karen Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh) to retain the AEW International Title

(Your standard Jarrett match that was filled with interference after interference, with the only time referee Aubrey doing anything was when she stopped Karen. Jarrett got his near fall, but ultimately Fenix was able to come out victorious, despite apparently tweaking his knee in the process.)

Fenix immediately hit a dive that wiped out Jarrett, Dutt & Lethal before the bell, as Jarrett answered with an eye poke and chair shot to the ribs. Fenix hit a huricanrana on Lethal that sent him face first into Singh’s crotch (right to the yambag, as Taz described it to us), while Dutt ate a superkick and Jarrett was caught with a double springboard moonsault back inside as the bell officially rang to start the match. Jarrett regained control and worked over the back of Fenix before hitting the Fargo Strut, mocking the Zero Mideo pose. All of this allowed Fenix to almost take control, but a distraction from Singh led to Jarrett countering a rolling cutter into a DDT heading to commercial.

The numbers game helped Jarrett throughout break, as Fenix is really hobbling on his left leg, spilling outside. Jarrett ordered his side to attack, but referee Aubrey jumped to the floor and shoved Karen down. Despite the bad leg, Fenix hit a springboard arm drag into a double stomp for two. A thrust kick landed flush, as Lethal jumped on the apron and ate a rope walk kick to the face. Dutt’s turn to run distraction, as Jarrett hit a low blow and small package for two. Jarrett planted Fenix with the Stroke, but a foot on the rope broke the pin. Jarrett ordered Singh to the apron, but Fenix hit a low dropkick and caught Jarrett with a small package of his own for the flash pin. Fenix was clutching his knee as Abrahantes celebrated post match. Excalibur informs us Nick Jackson, Brian Cage & Claudio Castagnoli will have a match later tonight with the winner facing Fenix next week on the 4 year anniversary of Dynamite.

-Footage of Long Island, New York last week is shown of Adam Cole, on crutches, being welcomed to MJF’s dad’s boat where the brochachos relaxed with some drinks while fishing. Cole thanked MJF for the invitation, as MJF brought up how Cole was too busy with Roderick Strong to come out to the ring with him. Cole said Roddy is like a brother, as MJF understood and went to grab a beer for Cole. MJF was seen in the background putting on the Dynamite Diamond Ring, as Cole asked if MJF brought him out there to knock him out and push him overboard. MJF said that was insane, as Cole said it’s healthy to have multiple best friends, something that’s not for MJF, who supports Cole. MJF said he almost got caught the last time he threw a dude overboard as they seemed to catch a huge fish. That catch turned out to be Paul Wight, decked out in his Captain Insane-O gear, who wound up having a beer and toasting to Better Than You BayBay. This was an insane ending, pun intended, to a pretty hilarious vignette.

-Don Callis was walking the streets of Tokyo with Konosuke Takeshita last Saturday night, as they are hunting Kota Ibushi. Callis said maybe Kenny Omega will have to find a new partner for WrestleDream if they find and get rid of Ibushi.

**********

-Renee Paquette is in the ring and welcomes Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita, who are met with huge boos. Callis introduces the newest family member to the ring, Sammy Guevara, who is met with equally loud boos. Callis threw it to footage of Takeshtia & himself at Kota Ibushi’s dojo, as Takeshita beats down a trainee before Ibushi shows up and takes Takeshita down. Pouring down strikes, Callis attacks from behind with an umbrella, as Ibushi stalked him down, but Takeshita blindsided him from behind with a kettle bell shot. Callis screamed at an unconscious Ibushi that he is never safe from the Don Callis Family, no matter where he is. Back to the ring, Callis said his family has never been stronger headed into WrestleDream.

Guevara said he’s painted as the bad guy, when he should be viewed as the hero. The crowd is drowning him out with “F You Sammy” chants, who said he was great on his own, but Jericho kept clipping his wings. He thought Jericho would one day pass him the torch, but Don Callis showed him that Chris Jericho is selfish and now it’s time for Guevara to be the star he’s born to be. Callis said they will take everything from Omega, Jericho & Ibushi until all that’s left is tears.

-Post match comments from Ricky Starks last Saturday is shown after his Texas Death Match with Bryan Danielson. Wheeler Yuta interrupted and said it was wrong he put his hands on Starks post match, but Starks is an entitled prick who always moans and complains. Yuta challenges Starks to a match at WrestleDream and we’re told Tony Khan has made that match official.

Nick Jackson defeated Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana) & Claudio Castagnoli to earn an AEW International Title shot next week

(My goodness, this felt like a PWG sprint if there ever was one. Each man got in all his signature offense and it really seemed like the match could end at any moment. The result means we get a rematch of one of the best singles matches in Dynamite history next week, with Nick Jackson earning an International Title match with Rey Fenix.)

Cage wasted no time in catching a superkick and gorilla pressing Jackson over the top to the floor. Cage & Castagnoli did a knuckle lock, before both took turns delivering vertical suplexes. Uppercuts from Castagnoli connected before Jackson hit a rope walk into a double takedown, sending Cage & Castagnoli to the floor, where Jackson followed with a springboard swanton. Back inside, Cage was caught in the corner, as a double stomp to Castagnoli led to a rolling backstabber on Cage by Jackson. As Jackson briefly posed, Castagnoli met him with a running boot as we went to picture in picture.

Back from break, Cage planted Castagnoli with a release German, but Jackson was there to meet him with a step up corner knee and bulldog. Jackson connected on a slingshot face buster, but as he came back through for a moonsault on Castagnoli, he was caught, but turned it into a swinging DDT. Jackson quickly hit a 450 Splash on Cage back inside for two. Castagnoli sent Jackson crashing to the floor and connected with the Giant Swing on Cage for ten impressive revolutions for a two count. Jackson sent Castagnoli outside, but a cross body off the top was caught by Cage who hit an F5 for two. Cage connected on his patented suplex from the apron back into the ring with ease on Castagnoli, as everyone traded near falls.

Jackson & Castagnoli took turns connecting with superkicks & uppercuts on Cage, until Castagnoli hit a pop up uppercut on Jackson. Anvil elbows on Cage led to a Ricola Bomb, but Jackson flew in with a springboard hurricanrana that sent Castagnoli to the floor, as Jackson stole the pin on Cage.

-A video package for The Righteous is shown, as they address MJF & Adam Cole ahead of WrestleDream. Karma has no deadline and they’ve done nothing wrong. It’s easier to forgive your enemies than it is to forgive your fake friends.

**********

-MJF & Adam Cole make their way to the ring, as Cole is on crutches and has a cast on his left foot. MJF set up a chair for Cole to sit in before hitting their signature pose. After a loud ovation it’s time for Story Time with Adam Cole and it’s a sad one, as Cole said last week his ankle exploded, broke in three places and tore ligaments. Cole said he has to go and get surgery, which is soul crushing. Cole apologizes to MJF and said unfortunately they have to relinquish the ROH Tag Titles, which MJF immediately cut off. MJF refuses to forfeit them to the freaky, deaky, douchebags, The Righteous. MJF said Cole wouldn’t be hurt if it wasn’t for being there for him, so he wants to make sure the ROH Tag Titles will be there for Cole when he returns. MJF will defend the titles against The Righteous in a handicap match.

The screaming of ADAM rings out, as Roderick Strong, in a hospital gown, is wheeled to the stage by Matt Taven & Mike Bennett, saying he needs Cole, it’s an emergency. MJF calls Strong a simp, but respects Cole has to do what he needs to do and will be there waiting for Cole when he gets back. Cole walks up the ramp on his crutches and leaves with The Kingdom & Strong. MJF was about to start talking when Bullet Club Gold music hits and Switchblade Jay White walks out with Juice Robinson, The Gunns and Cardblade until White sends them to the back and goes to the ring alone.

After dueling chants from the crowd, White told MJF & the crowd to shut up, as he’s here alone since 5 on 1 (including Cardblade) would be such a disadvantage. MJF said White must be smoking that Colorado grass and Excalibur tells us we’re 420 feet above sea level in an incredible line. MJF said if you mess with the king, you better not miss and insults the facial hair of White. MJF was never bothered by comparisons until he was compared to White, as MJF is a fine filet mignon, a generational talent, while White, despite being talented, is tofu. You need to trick yourself into thinking tofu has taste and while White has been given everything like big matches, huge entrances and music, keys to one of the greatest factions of all time, take that all away, he’s tofu. MJF said White is who someone in Japan thought was a top guy and if he doesn’t leave right now, the fans will always say White is good, but he’s no Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

White said MJF seems a bit distracted by his bromance and doesn’t think the crowd loves him as they do Adam Cole. Since he’s their scumbag, the crowd chanted for MJF and White silenced them. White said if he didn’t temporarily end Cole’s career after the first Forbidden Door, maybe MJF wouldn’t have had a soft spot for him and their story wouldn’t have happened, ending in Cole breaking his ankle, which is MJF’s fault. While White has been ruining MJF’s life from afar, he’s here to do it in the flesh. No one is on the level of the devil, there needs to be another level, as White is going to take the AEW World Title, the only grand slam champion that matters, who sold out MSG & the United Center. MJF will have the poors, they will have their scumbags and White will have the triple B title in the Switchblade Era, calling MJF soft. MJF wanted to start a fight, but White bailed, with MJF staring him down, holding the AEW Title up high. This was a fantastic, albeit long, back and forth segment for a World Title feud that hopefully builds and isn’t rushed.

-Jim Ross is having a sit down backstage with Christian Cage & Darby Allin. Ross talked about Cage winning the TNT Title, which confused Cage, who said he retained the title last Saturday on Collision. Cage said the times he has been pinned by Allin were flukes and no titles were on the line. Cage knows in his heart, Allin is nowhere near the man or wrestler that he is. Cage hopes Allin is prepared to let his family down at WrestleDream and asks if Allin’s uncle will be there on Sunday, remembering he’s no longer with us. Allin said everyone Cage talks trash about is dead, but Allin isn’t afraid of dying nor losing in his hometown. Cage told Allin to bring his whole family, bring Nick Wayne, his mother, who Cage said he’d call since he has her digits. Allin said he knows Cage wants Wayne to be there to get revenge, but that won’t happen and said Cage should leave Luchasaurus behind as well. Cage said Allin hides behind his face paint, which Allin wiped off with water, getting really intense as Cage doesn’t need Luchasaurus to show who Allin really is. Cage is the TNT Champion and Allin needs to get used to it. The audio was somewhat choppy at the end of this segment for me.

Orange Cassidy defeated Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes), Matt Jackson & Austin Gunn

(Once we got back from picture in picture, this turned into a fun party match that was filled with offense by everyone involved. Similar to the three way earlier in the show, this felt like it could’ve been won by anyone at anytime, which made the finish exciting.)

The story early on was Gunn was trying to steal the pin off anyone who hit a move, but was unsuccessful until being sent to the floor by Cassidy. Penta connected on a bounce back leg drop on Cassidy, teased a dive, but was met by Gunn, who had a prolonged pose off with Zero Miedo & Gunns Up hand signals until Penta finally chopped him down. Gunn managed to duck an Orange Punch and deliver Shake, Rattle & Roll to stand tall heading into commercial.

Back from break, Jackson connected on a dive off the top to the floor on Penta, as Gunn cut off Cassidy in the ropes, but was knocked down, teased a splash, but just fell off to the floor onto Jackson & Penta. Cassidy tried his dive on Gunn, who rolled through and hit the hip toss into a neckbreaker for two. Gunn teased a Pedigree on everyone, but after each attempt, another competitor would be taken out by a Destroyer leading to a quadruple down. Jackson launched off Cassidy to hit Penta with a Sliced Bread, countering a Cassidy DDT into hi locomotion Northern Lights. While Cassidy was rolled up, Jackson hit a double Northern Lights on Penta & Gunn for a triple near fall.

Penta blocked a BTE Trigger and had a series of counters with Jackson until Penta laid out Gunn with a Sling Blade. Cassidy put a stop to a Fear Factor with an Orange Punch, and took out Jackson with Beach Break, as Gunn took turns trying to pin everyone, getting a series of two counts. Gunn opted to pose and ate a triple superkick, as Jackson & Penta tried the same offense until Gunn tripped up Penta and Cassidy popped Jackson with the Orange Punch to get the win. All four men’s partners had a face off post match, as Excalibur said the momentum is on Cassidy & HOOK’s side heading into the WrestleDream four way.

**********

Julia Hart (w/Brody King) defeated Willow Nightingale

(I enjoyed the second half of this match quite a bit, as Nightingale got to take out her frustrations the first part, Hart controlled during break and we got an even back and forth finish. I think this was one of the stronger showings from Hart, who looks to avenge her last loss in AEW, which happened way back in April of 2022 on Elevation against, ironically enough, Kris Statlander.)

Nightingale walked out with one eye bandaged up to sell the black mist we’re told she was hit with by Hart before Collision last week. Nightingale poured on the offense early and decided to back off for some reason, which allowed Hart to capitalize. With the bad eye exposed, this almost fired up Nightingale, who again was relentless on her offense. Hart escaped to the floor and bailed under the ring, as distraction from King was long enough for Hart to sneak out and chop block Nightingale to take control during picture in picture. In a somewhat funny moment, Hart emerged from under the ring almost right in front of Nightingale and had to sort of slowly sneak back under to get behind her opponent.

Hart slapped on a sleeper and Nightingale countered into a Death Valley Driver and follow up spinebuster. After a short arm lariat, Hart ducked another into a back heel trip and Hartless was applied, but Nightingale got the ropes. Hart tried a handspring corner strike, but Nightingale popped her with a Pounce in mid air and the Oklahoma Stampede followed. Nightingale barked at King, but took too long, as she missed a cannonball. Hart hit a picture perfect moonsault and got the victory. The crowd was loudly behind the finish of this match. Post match, Hart applied Hartless again on Nightingale until Kris Statlander hit the ring and Hart bailed, hiding behind King, who stood between the two ladies.

Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland Contract Signing

Renee Paquette welcomed both men to the ring and informed us The Elite & Mogul Embassy is banned from ringside, which explains the extra security. Strickland kicked his feet up on the table and asks if Page knows what he’s walking into on Sunday, he’s walking into Swerve’s House. Strickland will never be the same as Page, what’s a farmer to a mogul, what’s a buckshot to a killshot? Page said he’s glad that Strickland is ready and thanks Strickland for what he said a few weeks ago, it lit a fire under him. For a year and a half, Page felt there was a black cloud over his head he couldn’t get rid of. The sun would shine at times, like beating Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match and reuniting with The Elite, but every time he started to smile, that cloud came back and it started to rain. It annoyed, then pissed Page off, as he weathered the storm and he’s still standing. What Strickland said made this doubt wash away from Page, as the fans deserve the best of him, which is what Strickland will get at WrestleDream.

Strickland busted up laughing saying that was just as pathetic as Russell Wilson and the Broncos last week, thanking that Seattle got rid of Wilson to this dumpster in Denver. Strickland said his mental problems have led to having a new enemy every day. Strickland will take Page’s postion from him on Sunday and informs Hangman it rains an awful lot in Seattle. Page said they could go back and forth about the opportunities Page has had and Strickland hasn’t, but the truth is all those opportunities Page has knocked out of the park. Strickland should want Page’s spot and Page said he doesn’t have what it takes, as Strickland slapped Page in the face. Page stabbed the hand of Strickland with the pen and security jumped in to separate the two men.

We then go backstage to see Switchblade Jay White being beaten down by 4 masked men. After being thrown into the wall, a fifth masked man is shown to be wearing the familiar Devil mask that MJF has worn many times. That person pushes away the camera as the show ended.

Live from Nashville, Tennesee.

Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone are on commentary.

Orange Cassidy defeated Wheeler Yuta to retain the AEW International Title

Slugfest to start, and Cassidy got the advantage. They exchanged suplexes and kicks, and then a double boot put both guys down.

Yuta sent Cassidy to the floor and followed him out with a tope. Cassidy countered a vertical suplex from Yuta, and they fought up the ramp. Yuta gave Cassidy a stiff piledriver on the entrance ramp and referee Bryce Remsberg beckoned Yuta to bring the match back into the ring. Yuta mocked Cassidy’s “high impact” kicks with his hands stuffed in tights, “kicking” Cassidy down the ramp. When Yuta finally brought the fight back in the ring, Cassidy stunned him with the Beach Break for a near fall.

During the split-screen break, Yuta worked over Cassidy’s leg with an Indian Death Lock. After the break, Cassidy started to mount a comeback. He went to the top rope, but Yuta cut him off with a kick and dropped Cassidy with a top rope superplex. Then Yuta hit a top rope splash for a near fall. Yuta went to kick Cassidy’s head in, but Cassidy countered with a cradle for a near fall. Cassidy went for a spinning DDT, but Cassidy’s leg gave out on him. He caught Yuta with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall, then hit the spinning DDT on the second try. The way Cassidy sold the leg was fantastic

As Cassdiy set up the Orange Punch, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castignoli came out from the crowd. Casssidy hit a Paradigm shift and the Orange Punchm but was too beat up to make a cover. Yuta got a near fall with the seatbelt cradle. Cassidy countered a sunset flip attempt with a cradle and got the pinfall to retain.

Immediately after the finish, Moxley and Claudio jumped in the ring to attack Cassidy. The Best Friends tried to make the save, but were completely overwhelmed. The Lucha Bros then danced down to the ring (while Mox and Claudio were beating on The Best Friends) to even the odds. Moxley and Claudio got chairs, but Eddie Kingston’s music hit and he charged the ring to attack Claudio. The Blackpool Combat Club ran, and Kingston grabbed a mic and challenged The Blackpool Combat Club “and anyone they can find” to a STADIUM STAMPEDE MATCH.

JR Interviews Kenny Omega: The interview took place at Daily’s Place, where (as JR notes) Omega won his first World Title.  Omega wants to move on away from Callis. Footage was shown of Omega facing Konosuke Takeshita from DDT. Callis interrupted the interview to distract Omega, and Juice Robinson & Jay White jumped Omega. Takeshita jumped him as well and they beat him with pipes and other plunder. This “sent Kenny to the hospital.”

The show then cut to Adam Page, waiting “oustide the hospital in Jacksonville.” Page annoucned that he, Kota Ibushi and Omega will take on Robinson, White and Takeshita at Wembley. Page was then chastised by security for “drinking a beer” outside the “hospital.”

All In is shaping up nicely (and at the last minute).

Jericho Answers Don Callis: Back to the arena, where Callis calls out Chris Jericho to get his answer.

Jericho answers Callis with, “Chris Jericho doesn’t join factions, Chris Jericho creates them.” Jericho initially gives Callis a “Yes!” who was surprised, and wanted to get to the bar to celebrate. But, Jericho noticed a covered picture in the corner. Jericho wants to see the picture, which is a painting of Callis holding Jericho’s severed head. Jericho asked what’s that about? Callis thought Jericho’s ego would allow him to join “the Don Callis Family.” “Who the hell is Don Callis?” Nobody cares about Don Callis, who’s lost his family, lost Kenny Omega, lost his friends, all because Callis is a “a lowlife, a worm, a piece of trash and an a$$hole.” Callis slapped Jericho, and Jericho responded by choking Callis down in the corner. Konosuke Takshita and Will Ospreay ran in to save Callis. Opsreay hit Jericho with the Hidden Blade, then busted him open with a steel chair to the head. Callis then smashed the painting over Jericho’s head. Sammy Guevara ran in to run off Callis and his crew with Jericho’s bat, and got a a brief “Sammy!” chant from the crowd.

Darby Allin & Nicky Wayne defeated The Gates of Agony (6:23)

The Gates attacked Wayne and Allin as they made their entrance. Swerve Strickland and AR Fox made their entrance while The Gates dominated Wayne and Allin on the floor.

Fox and Stirckland watch the match from the ramp. The Gates worked over Nick Wayve during the split-screen break. After the break, Wayne got the hot tag. Allin and Wayne combined for a crucifix bomb/superkick combo for a near fall. The Gates of Agony hit a Demolition-style decapitation elbow for a near fall. Wayne caught Kaun with a springboard cutter. From the same top turnbuckle, Wayne hit Tanga Loa on the floor with a moonsault, and Allin hit Kaun with the Coffin Drop for the pinfall.

After the match, The Mogul Affiliates surrounded the ring, but Sting interrupted from the KhanTron. Sting has kidnapped Prince Nana! Sting told Strickland he needs eyes in the back of his head, and then scared Nana off.  “Nana! Nana! Come back! I need someone to talk too.” Sting was crazy (and hilarious) here.

– Adam Cole & MJF had some ideas to get ready for Aussie Open at Zero Hour. MJF took them to Outback Steakhouse, and Adam Cole bought “Crocodile Dundee I and II.” MJF found a video of kangaroos fighting on his phone, and thought they should adopt “the kangaroo kick” as an alternate finisher. They then double-clotheslined an inflatable crocodile, which raised the ire of Tony Khan, who called them into their office to yell at them. “People are trying to work here!”

Adam Cole and MJF then arrived at the arena in MJF’s fancy sports car. MJF headed to the bathroom (some Nashville Hot Chicken did not agree with him), Cole went to the ring, and Roderick Strong showed up to complain after Cole and MJF left. Strong hurt himself kicking MJF”s car.

– MJF and Adam Cole came to the ring to cut a promo. MJF did a little two-step for the crowd. MJF got a “Kangaroo Kick!” chant going, Cole cut a heartfelt promo about his comeback. Nine months ago it looked like Cole would never wrestle again, and now headlining the biggest pro wrestling show of all time, against his best friend and for the world title. Cole needs to win this match and will do “anything” to do it.

MJF told his story about putting 90,000 miles on his truck is 2018, trying to make a name for himself. MJF heard about the first All In, DM’d Cody Rhodes and got his shot. MJF lost the opener that night, but he caught the eye of Tony Khan, who signed MJF to AEW. In five years, MJF has gone from a nobody to one of the best that’s ever wrestled. And now, MJF is back at All In, “the biggest wrestling show of all time” (get ready to hear that a lot over the next few weeks). It means a lot for MJF to main event All In against his best friend and dream opponent, “but it doesn’t mean everything.” The “Triple B” means everything, and winning the main event at All In will make MJF legendary. MJF and Adam Cole then lead the crowd in their catchphrases. Aussie Open jumped Cole and MJF, but they quickly got the upper hand. Mark Davis avoided the double clothesline and saved Kyle Fletcher from the “kangaroo kick.” The crowd chanted “Kangaroo Kick!” MJF taunted Aussie Open, and from behind it looked Cole was setting up a for superkick on MJF. MJF turned around before Cole could nail him. Of course, Cole and MJF hugged it out. These promos were awesome, the crowd ate up everything Cole and MJF did with a spoon,  and I was legitmately ready to login to B/R live and buy All In.

– In the back, Renee Paquette interviewed a bloodied Chris Jericho. Jericho v. Ospreay would have happened in the Tokyo Dome in 2021 if not for the pandemic, but it will take a lot more than a pandemic to keep Jericho from Will Ospreay at All In.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Jeff Hardy in a Texas Chainsaw Death Match (10:02)

This match was mess from the jump. Hardy made his ring entrance, then walked through the crowd to the other side of the arena. Hardy was under the concourse and Jarrett jumped Hardy.  Karen Jarrett, Matt Hardy, Brother Zay, Sahtnam Singh, and Ethan Page all interfered a minute into the match. They were all fighting in a poorly lit area where you could barely make out what was going on. Matt Hardy dumped something on the Jarretts; I think it was supposed to be blood?

The fighting continued backstage during a long split-screen break.

After the split-screen break, Jeff Hardy jumped off some equipment in the back and hit the pile of wrestlers with a crossbody. They fought out of the backstage area and onto the entrance stage. As everyone fought to the ring, smoke started to come up from underneath the ring. This wound up meaning nothing.

Jarrett was alone with all the babyfaces in the ring, where tables had already been set up in the corners. Jeff Hardy hit a Twist of Fate on Jarrett, who helpfully placed himself on a table on the rebound. Hardy hit a Swanton Bomb through the table, but Jay Lethal made the same. Page and Matt Hardy went for their finishers, but were taking out by low blows from Sonjay Dutt and Karen Jarrett, respectively.

Then, Leatherface came out (to the sounds of a chainsaw playing in the arena) and chased Karen Jarrett away. I thought Letherface and Jarrett were on the same side? Back in the ring, Sahtnam Singh reappeared and chokeslammed Jeff Hardy, then put Jarrett on top for the pin. Jarrett then celebrated with a Leatherface title belt. Taz on commentary: “Well, that was something,” Yeah it was. Not something GOOD. But it was something.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. The Bunny (w/ Penelope Ford)

Baker wore her ring jacket from the first All In show. They shook hands to start, but that quickly turned into shoves and forearms. Bunny countered a lockjaw attempt with a cradle for a near fall. Bunny hit a clothesline and actually got a reaction from the crowd.

After a split-screen break, Baker hit a double underhook suplex for a near fall. Baker hit a forearm and a spinning neckbreaker for a near fall. After some failed interference from Ford, Baker hit a superkick and a stomp to get the pinfall.

All In Update: The Stadium Stampede match will be six-on-six. Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, The Best Friends & The Lucha Bros v. Claudio Castignoli, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and three as yet unnamed partners.

The Acclaimed vs. Two Enhancement Talents Never Happened

Before the match could start, the lights in the arena went out. When they came back up, the two enhancement talents were replaced with the House of Black. Buddy Murphy and Brody King pounced on the Acclaimed while Malakai Black and Julia Hart watched. Matthews really went after Caster hard, and Caster was busted open with a chain. With the Acclaimed laid out, King presented Billy Gunn’s boots to Malakai Black.

The Young Bucks defeated The Gunn Club (9:26)

The Bucks jumped the Gunns on the entrance stage. They fought to the ring where the match began with Nick and Colton. Quickly, all four men were in the ring. The Bucks are fired up because of Bullet Club attacking Omega earlier..

The Gunns double-teamed Matt through the split-screen break. Colton hit a great looking dropkick on Matt for a near fall. The Gunns clotheslined each other and Nick got the hot tag. Nick hit a superkick on Austin. He followed up with a springboard facebuster on Austin and a standing moonsault to the floor on Colton. Back in the ring. The Bucks set up Austin for the BTE Trigger, but Colton hit a flying clothesline to break it up. Colton broke up a Meltzer Driver attempt. The Gunns hit the 310 to Yuma on Matt. Nick broke up the cover with a double stomp off the top rope.

Austin went for an O’Conner role on Nick, with an assist from his brother, but Matt superkicked Colton. Nick then reversed the rollup, and Matt helped his brother hold down Austin for the three count. This felt pretty clunky at first, but came together pretty well after the break.

After the match, Juice Robinson and Jay White jumped the Bucks after the match. Kenny Omega and Adam Page were “at the hospital in Jacksonville,” so it was 4-on-2. The Bullet Club set up Matt Jackson to Pillmanize Matt’s previously-injured arm, but FTR. The Bullet Club all faced the entrance waiting for FTR, so naturally FTR came through the crowd from the other side to make the save. FTR hit the Shatter Machine on Robinson. Once the Bucks and FTR dispatched the Bullet Club, FTR looked like they were setting up behind Matt Jackson for a Shatter Machine. But when the Bucks turned around, FTR just picked up their title belts instead and stood eye to eye with The Young Bucks. The crowd was more behind FTR as the show ended.

Final Thoughts:

I felt like the show kind of fell apart after the Jarrett match, but the first hour had a couple of great angles that set up some big matches for All In. The Callis/Jericho angle was great, the Elite/Bullet Club angle was great, Kingston’s return (and the announcement of Stadium Stampede) was fantastic. On this night, the out of the ring stuff was stronger than the in ring.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz, as they throw it right to our opening title match of the evening.

Orange Cassidy defeated Kyle Fletcher to retain the AEW International Title

(I’ve nearly run out of things to say about how great this title reign has been for Orange Cassidy. Every week he manages to put on fantastic defenses, all while finding different ways to survive. Similar to the other challengers, Fletcher came very close, but ultimately couldn’t put a stop to the champion.)

Fletcher almost instantly hit a brainbuster for a quick near fall, as Cassidy tried to float over in the corner, but was dropkicked outside. Fletcher sprinted for a dive before turning Cassidy inside out with a lariat back in the ring. Fletcher wasted too much time when about to go for a dive off the ropes, as Cassidy shoved him off onto the apron hard. Cassidy followed with a DDT on the apron, as both men landed awkwardly. Cassidy hit a Beach Break on the floor and is trying for a count out win, but Fletcher beat the count. Cassidy tried his pocket offense, but Fletcher fired off a thrust kick and delayed vertical suplex heading to picture in picture.

It was mostly a game of catch me if you can during commercial, as Cassidy kept rolling away from Fletcher, who finally blocked a DDT into a half and half suplex. Right as they returned from break, Cassidy fired off a Stundog Millionaire and DDT for two. Cassidy tried to go to the ropes, but was booted to the apron. Fletcher wanted a superplex, but Cassidy avoided, got caught off a cross body into a Fletcher Michinoku Driver for two. After a series of counters, Fletcher wanted another brainbuster, but Cassidy countered into one of his own for a double down. Cassidy hit a Michinoku Driver of his own, but the roll up allowed Fletcher to hold on into a cradle and dropped Cassidy with two Tombstone piledrivers.

Fletcher went to the corner and despite Cassidy trying to avoid it, suffered an avalanche Michinoku Driver for a close near fall. Fletcher went for the Grim Stone, but Cassidy spiked him with a DDT. Cassidy wanted an Orange Punch, Fletcher countered, wanted Grim Stone, but Cassidy countered into a roll up for the win.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Ricky Starks and asks about his disqualification loss last week against Jay White. Starks was fully aware of his actions and took matters into his own hands. This Sunday, Starks will focus his energy on winning the Blackjack Battle Royal. Starks was attacked from behind by Juice Robinson & Jay White, who smacked a chair over his back. White said Bullet Club Gold is not done making Starks’ life a living hell just yet.

**********

-Jungle Boy Jack Perry is backstage and talks about making the drive to Vegas, remembering wrestling with his friends when younger down the street. Just a few years earlier, his world was turned upside down going into Double or Nothing. The ring gives him a purpose and allows him to be the man he wants to be, the life he chooses to live. Come Monday morning on his drive home, he’ll do it as the AEW World Champion.

FTR Address Their Double or Nothing Title Defense

Wheeler said it would be easy to say Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal got where they are by the politics in wrestling. The truth is they’ve outsmarted FTR every step of the way, but at Double or Nothing, their luck runs out. Harwood said Jarrett has broken a million guitars, but can’t stay relevant, so he attached his name to the greatest tag team in the world. If Jarrett thinks the head of the tag division will be two rejects from TNA, that’s not going to happen. After Double or Nothing, Jarrett will have to call the Queen of the Mountain for job security and Dax didn’t mean Karen Jarrett, instead Dixie Carter.

Mark Briscoe came out and Wheeler said he has every right to be made, but not to make Lethal & Jarrett make him look stupid. Wheeler said they went to hell and back with Mark & his brother three times. Briscoe asks Harwood what the piledriver meant a few weeks ago, as Harwood said it was a mistake and wanted a handshake. Briscoe slapped him in the face, as Wheeler tried to make peacemaker while Briscoe left the ring. As he headed up the ramp, he shoved Karen Jarrett & Sonjay Dutt out of his way, slapped Jeff Jarrett and told Jay Lethal he’s his boy, but he’s tired of this BS.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Sammy Guevara, as Paquette said MJF wanted to relay a message to him. The offer still stands for Guevara to lay down at Double or Nothing. Guevara said hell no and he’s not for sale, as his whole life people wanted to buy him out of his dreams. Guevara said MJF can shove the offer up his ass and he is the man who will take the AEW Title from Max.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews w/Julia Hart) defeated Blake Christian, Metalik & AR Fox to retain the AEW Trios Titles in an Open House Match

(This was an all out sprint, as the stipulation chosen by the challengers really allowed this to be super chaotic. Another dominating performance from the House of Black, there’s not a whole lot more to say.)

The stipulation the challenging team chose to go along with 20 counts and no rope breaks were that one man is in and one man is out, no tags need to necessarily be made. The lighting is much better than the first Open House match as Matthews & Christian had a quick exchange before Matthews hit a pump knee to send Christian outside. Metalik jumped in and dispatched of Matthews, only to have Black quickly do the same. Fox & King had a brief back and forth until Christian tried to use his speed on King, who overmatched him with his power. Christian tried to start a kick exchange with Black and was quickly laid out with a knee lift on the apron. Christian flipped out of a German suplex into his corner, as Metalik used his speed to fight back and send Black & Matthews to the floor. Christian & Metalik hit dueling dives on the floor, as Christian turned his into a spinning reverse DDT.

King & Fox were left in the ring, as King just absorbed the offense before King was dropkicked to the floor. With everyone on the floor, Fox connected with an Implosion Senton, as back inside, Fox tried an enzugiri on Matthews, who avoided into a Curb Stomp. Matthews locked in an Inverted Cloverleaf, but the Open House rules means no rope breaks. Black sank a knee bar in on Metalik, while Christian tried to break things up with thrust kicks. Matthews no sold, as King locked in his hangman’s choke off the apron with the House of Black getting double submissions to retain.

-After a video recap of The Elite reuniting last week, we go backstage to the Blackpool Combat Club, as Bryan Danielson tonight’s objective is to win the ROH Tag Team Titles. However, the objective on Sunday is to end The Elite. Jon Moxley said the BCC does the job the way it’s supposed to be done. There is no one in this business better than they are at stepping up to the plate when it counts. The BCC will deliver on Sunday, in a storm of violence; they will stay calm and show the world the difference between professionals and amateurs.

The Four Pillars Face Off One Final Time Ahead of Double or Nothing

MJF walked out and immediately went over to the commentary table, where he took a sip of Tony Schiavone’s drink and threw it in his face, which popped Taz huge. MJF went to the ring and said it’s funny, they call this Sin City, but it should be called Virgin Vegas. MJF said he wants Sammy Guevara’s tongue to get stuck in a light socket, Darby Allin to climb Mount Everest with his shoelaces untied, Jack Perry to get thrown into an echo chamber, have to listen to himself talk and bore himself to death. It doesn’t get more homegrown than the four of them though, as the four of them didn’t have the cheat code of already having the crowd know who they were when AEW started. The four pillars aren’t just a part of AEW, they are AEW. MJF doesn’t want to be part of it anymore, as he’s sick of competition and fans not showing him respect. MJF said Tony Khan knows that his contract is coming up, so it’s not a shock that he’s in a match where he doesn’t need to be pinned to lose his title. MJF said he might just take his ball and go home, since he’s earned it and no one else can keep up. While the other three men in the title match are talented, much like everyone in the back, no one is on the level of the Devil.

Darby Allin walked to the ring and MJF demanded his music be cut. Allin said he’s lost a lot in his life, but after he graduated high school and working at the 99 cent store, he realized that’s not what his life was supposed to be like. AEW allows him to be who he wants to be, AEW allows him to skateboard with Tony Hawk, crash cars with Travis Pastrana and climb Mount Everest. Allin said he needs to win the AEW Title and on Sunday he will, maybe even with a headlock takeover. MJF punted Allin low and was about to hit him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring when Sammy Guevara sprinted out to make the save with MJF bailing to the ramp. Jungle Boy Jack Perry came out, ducked a MJF belt shot and laid him out with a clothesline as Perry was left standing tall holding the AEW World Title.

-A vignette of Wardlow talking about how he knows Christian has a history with ladders, but so does Wardlow in AEW. Arn Anderson asks Christian if he can imagine the damage that can be done when Wardlow has a ladder in his hands, as they’ll find out in four days.

Taya Valkyrie defeated Lady Frost

(Valkyrie looked strong ahead of her TBS Title match this Sunday, a match where she can use her finisher this time. Credit to Lady Frost, who put up a good fight in her Dynamite debut.)

Prior to the match there were highlights of Frost from her matches on ROH TV in recent weeks. After an early back and forth sequence, Frost hit a head scissors, but Valkyrie answered with an arm drag into the corner. Valkyrie followed with a stiff sliding lariat and hard corner chop. Valkyrie missed a charge, but as Frost used her gymnastics, Valkyrie knocked her right to the mat. Jade Cargill, Leila Grey & Mark Sterling made their way to the ramp right as things went to picture in picture.

It was all Valkyrie during commercial until Frost cut her off with a spin kick and somersault senton. Frost went up top and connected with a Tornillo, but Valkyrie popped right up with a Spear into the double down. A forearm battle ensued with Valkyrie winning that with a sit out slam. A vicious double arm trapped stomp to the back of the head lead to Valkyrie turning her attention to Cargill, as she cut off Frost with a back breaker, knee strike and Road to Valhalla for the win.

Tony Khan’s AEW Collision Announcement

Tony Khan is backstage and said it’s great to be back in the MGM Grand, where it all began for AEW. Khan said Collision starts a new beginning for AEW and runs down the dates he listed last week for the Canadian tour. The first episode of Collision will happen June 17 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Right when he said the arena, the crowd immediately started chanting for CM Punk.

**********

-Alex Marvez is backstage with Hangman Adam Page and asks about his status of his friendship with Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks. Page said his relationship with The Bucks was always best of friends, while he & Omega were different. He said he views them as family and they find themselves at Anarchy in the Arena, they’ve tried to take his eye, hurt Matt’s arm, Nick’s shoulder and somehow cost Omega Don Callis. At Double or Nothing, The BCC will pay in blood.

Adam Cole & Chris Jericho Contract Signing

(The year is 2023 and I can’t believe the last sentence I just typed about this segment. To say this was unexpected would be a massive understatement.)

Roderick Strong joined Cole to the ring, while Jericho was accompanied by all the Jericho Appreciation Society. Schiavone said everyone agreed to no physicality tonight, as Jericho propped his feet up on the table with Cole immediately signing the contract without looking at it. Cole said for weeks he wondered why Jericho handcuffed him, forced to watch Britt Baker beaten with a kendo stick by The Outcasts. Cole said it could be because Jericho is a scum bag, but it’s because he believes he is invincible. They will find out Sunday how invincible Jericho truly is, as the blood will be on Cole’s hands. Cole said he can’t beat up Jericho tonight, but on Sunday, he’ll break both Jericho’s legs, shatter his jaw, break his hands, so hurry up and sign the paper, b*tch.

Jericho said he’s not a b*tch, he’s not from Vegas. Before Jericho signed the contract, he threw it to the big screen to show Baker being beaten weeks ago by Saraya and the kendo stick. Jericho questions what kind of man Cole is to allow that to happen? Jericho said on Sunday he’ll knock Cole’s teeth down his throat, as Cole knows he can’t beat The Ocho. Jericho signed the contract and says there is five of them against only Cole & Strong. Cole said he realizes that, so he made a phone call to someone who is crazy and Jericho questions who’s crazier than he is? Cole said he called the Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal Sabu. Taz couldn’t believe it, as Sabu walked to the ring. Cole tossed a chair to Sabu, who chucked it right at Matt Menard as the J.A.S. bailed with Cole, Strong & Sabu standing tall.

-A video package is shown highlighting the upcoming AEW Women’s Title match at Double or Nothing. Toni Storm the only reason Jamie Hayter won the Women’s Title in the first place was because of help from Britt Baker. This time, Storm has backup and she will take the title from Hayter on Sunday.

Roderick Strong defeated Daniel Garcia

(Every week a match suffers from picture in picture and unfortunately this was that match. I was really hoping these two would get more time, but maybe a potential rematch down the line that could happen. I very much enjoyed this match for how long it went though, as Garcia & Strong really beat the crap out of each other. Strong picked up his second win over the J.A.S. in as many weeks.)

Everyone from the last segment went backstage prior to this match, as Strong won an early chop battle. Excalibur informs us that Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher have officially put pen to paper and Aussie Open is All Elite. Strong connected with a backbreaker and controlled the action before he missed a baseball slide and was tossed into the steps by Garcia. Opting to do a dance for the fans was a mistake of Garcia, who got chopped viciously by Strong until Garcia was able to hang up Strong on the ropes to take over.

Garcia continued to dance as Taz made a perfect Alex Wright name drop. Strong fired back with a dropkick, charging knee and slam for two. A leg captured back breaker by Strong led to Garcia responding with overhand chops and Rock Bottom for a near fall of his own. Garcia sank in the Dragon Tamer, but Strong turned through, kicked free, hit Death By Roderick and End of Heartache for the victory.

-A video is shown of Willow Nightingale winning the NJPW Strong Women’s Title this week, defeating Mercedes Mone in the Finals. Nightingale said it’s time to show the world just how Strong she is. I really hope AEW showcases Willow following her title win.

Lucha Bros (Penta el Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated ROH Champion Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles

(A phenomenal, action packed main event with The Elite getting their last minute shots in ahead of Anarchy in the Arena. If they so choose, Castagnoli & Yuta have an out if they’d like a rematch down the line.)

Bryan Danielson joined commentary, channeled William Regal, thanking the Man in the Mask for having him. A chaotic start has Castagnoli & Yuta eat thrust kicks to the floor as the Lucha Bros followed with double dives. Fenix did his double springboard dive, as Yuta was rolled inside and planted with Made in Penta for two. Danielson said this is the best he’s ever seen Fenix & Penta, as Castagnoli made the save with uppercuts aplenty to create some space. Penta hit a sling blade, while Fenix followed with a rope walk kick. Yuta broke up the Fear Factor, but ate a kick, as Fenix tried a springboard, only to get popped with an uppercut into commercial break.

Fenix remained isolated until Yuta was hit with a high back drop. Castagnoli cut off Fenix, hit a Giant Swing with Yuta doing a dropkick mid move like Tyson Kidd used to do with Castagnoli. Fenix was able to get free and make the hot tag to Penta, who cleaned house with a series of thrust kicks and a gnarly powerbomb into a lung blower on Yuta. Penta was about to snap the arm of Yuta until Castagnoli made the save. Fenix made the tag, delivered a spin kick to Castagnoli and roll through uppercut to Yuta. Fenix was slammed onto Yuta, as Penta used his brother as a launch pad to his Castagnoli with a Destroyer. Fenix planted Yuta with a crazy piledriver for two as Danielson screamed about what William Regal told them, to tuck their necks.

The Lucha Bros played to the crowd too long, as Penta was knocked off the ropes and Fenix was sent into a brutal Castagnoli uppercut. Yuta & Castagnoli hit a Rocket Launcher, but Fenix kicked out. Alex Abrahantes took the referee, the Lucha Bros hit the Fear Factor on Yuta and before Castagnoli could break it up, The Young Bucks appeared from under the ring and held onto his legs as Yuta was pinned. The Bucks bailed into the crowd as Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson ran to the ring.

Moxley took the microphone and said The Bucks can laugh while they still can because at Double or Nothing, they are going to get plastered on the pavement. Anarchy in the Arena will be the wildest, most violent match in AEW history and The BCC will accept nothing less. If people are squeamish at the sight of blood, then buckle you’re seatbelts because you’ve seen nothing yet.

Show Report —

There were two rings set up for Blood & Guts.

Orange Cassidy got a new theme — it’s “Jane” by Jefferson Starship.

Before the match, Dan Lambert, bottle of orange juice in hand, spoke. He said Orange couldn’t match up to a heavyweight like Page before accusing the Best Friends of not having managers’ licenses. The official ejected them before the match started.

Orange Cassidy (w/ Best Friends) defeated Ethan Page (w/ Dan Lambert)

Orange immediately did the hands-in-pockets schtick and landed a tope suicida. Back in, Orange hit a diving crossbody but only got one. Page eventually cut him off with a big shoulder block. He mocked Orange and beat him down with slams and suplexes.

After a commercial, Orange took a high kick and a twisting brainbuster for two. Page went for Ego’s Edge, but Orange countered it by reaching into his pockets. He reversed a second attempt into a hurricanrana and climbed the ropes, but Lambert distracted Orange, allowing Page to turn it into a powerslam for two.

Page flipped off a kid in the crowd, but Orange countered a brainbuster attempt into the stunner before nailing a spinning DDT for a near fall. Orange called for the Orange Punch, but Lambert hopped on the apron, and Orange gave him his light strikes. He took Lambert’s orange juice and spit in his face before hitting two Orange Punches and a body slam (which he had fought hard for in the match) for the win.

Christian Cage speaks

Tony Schiavone introduced him and brought him out. Christian was asked what he had to say but was drowned out by boos. He was asked by management to come out and apologize for his comments last week, specifically about Jungle Boy’s father. Christian said “Jungle Boy, I’m sorry… your entire family isn’t dead.” He corrected himself to say everyone *except* Jungle Boy’s mother.

Christian said the only good thing about Detroit is that it’s close to Canada. He may have requested a match this week, but it’s not for him.

Luchasaurus came out with new music, gear, and entrance gimmicks.

Luchasaurus (w/ Christian Cage) defeated Serpentico

Serpentico ran right into a headbutt and a German suplex. Luchasaurus planted Serpentico with a facebuster and locked on a nerve hold Snare Trap for the win in under a minute.

– After the match, Christian told Luchasaurus to continue the attack, and he obliged with a chokeslam on the floor.

***********

Scorpio Sky and Wardlow were backstage for a face to face. Sky said he was the champion for a reason. Wardlow said he didn’t care about American Top Team, he’d beat everyone’s ass, and he’d take home the title. Sky challenged him for the match next week — in a Street Fight.

**********

Max Caster called Danhausen a “Juggalo” and mocked Flint, MI’s drinking water.

This was billed as Danhausen alongside two mystery partners, and they turned out to be FTR.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) & Danhausen defeated Max Caster & The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) (w/ Billy Gunn & Anthony Bowens)

Austin and Cash started off. Dax and then Danhausen entered the match; when the latter tagged in, the Gunn Club and Caster isolated him in the corner through a commercial. Danhausen eventually escaped to reach Dax. FTR hit stereo rolling Germans to the Gunn Club. Austin hit kind of a neckbreaker, forcing Dax to tag in Danhausen.

The demon waif landed a pump kick on Austin and went for a Go To Sleep. Billy distracted the official and Bowens ran in with the crutch, revealing he’s healed from his injury, but Danhausen avoided the crutch strike which struck Austin. Danhausen covered for the win.

– After the match, Austin shoved Bowens, but Billy defended the Acclaimed and shoved his son back.

**********

Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh cut a video promo. Dutt and Lethal demanded Joe sign the contract to defend the title at ROH Death Before Dishonor, and Satnam said “Jay’s gonna kill you.”

**********

TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (w/ Stokely Hathaway & Kiera Hogan) (c) defeated Leila Grey

Jade manhandled Grey right from the start, hitting a fallaway slam and kipping up. Grey fired up with a rising knee, but Jade leveled her with a pump kick before hitting Jaded for the win in just a couple minutes.

– After the match, Hathaway was about to speak, but Jade grabbed the mic and said she was tired of everyone in the back bitching and moaning. She demanded that Hathaway give her some real real competition.

Hathaway said only someone who didn’t even work for AEW had the wherewithal to step up. He called Athena “lazy.” Athena and Kris Statlander ran out and attacked Jade and Hogan, but then Grey surprised them by stopping Athena from hitting the O-Face. Jade and company stood tall.

**********

The Young Bucks were backstage. They said Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI want a shot at their AEW World Tag Team Championships, but they’ll have to beat them in an Eliminator match first.

**********

AEW Rampage (6/29) lineup:

  • Young Bucks vs. CHAOS (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI)
  • Toni Storm vs. Nyla Rose
  • The Royal Rampage: 20-man battle royal for an Interim AEW World Championship match

**********

Jim Ross joined commentary as they lowered the cage. William Regal joined commentary during Claudio’s entrance.

Jericho Appreciation Society came out in preposterous matching red outfits.

Kingston had a kendo stick, Santana had a barbed wire bat, and Ortiz had some sick face paint.

It’s classic WarGames rules — staggered entrants, no disqualification, and the match can only be won once everyone has entered the match.

BLOOD & GUTS: Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Wheeler YUTA), Eddie Kingston, Santana, & Ortiz defeated Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, & Angelo Parker) (w/ Tay Conti)

This was a great WarGames-style match — I’d say about the quality of last year’s. Moxley and Claudio were the real lifeblood of the match, but I have to shout out 2point0 as they were unbelievably consistent glue guys who did everything possible to put their opponents over. Guevara’s stunt was spectacular as expected.

Guevara and Claudio started things off — the bell rang at ten past the hour. Claudio manhandled Guevara and laid in running uppercuts. He continued a gnarly beatdown of Guevara until Guevara climbed to try and escape; Claudio pursued and pulled him down onto the ropes. Guevara sprung on the ropes to escape Claudio and returned fire with a pop-up cutter. Guevara celebrated, allowing Claudio to go for the giant swing, but Garcia was the next entrant and cut Claudio off before a commercial.

Once back, YUTA evened the odds and entered. He crushed Garcia with repeated Germans before doing the same to Guevara. Hager was next in for J.A.S., and he took out YUTA with a slam. The two big men (Claudio and Hager) took out smaller opponents with throws, then faced off in the ring in a rematch of the 2014 Survivor Series kickoff show. Claudio got the upper hand, but the man advantage allowed Garcia to get involved and J.A.S. to take over.

J.A.S. continued to dominate until Moxley came in for his side. He hit the ex-plex on Guevara and took out Garcia. Claudio bulldogged Hager onto a chair. Moxley produced a fork and carved up Garcia’s forehead. Claudio beat down Guevara right in front of Conti. Moxley and YUTA hit a Hart Attack on Garcia, who had a gushing cut on his forehead.

Parker was in next for J.A.S., but his opponents were firmly in control, and he just ran away until they finally cornered him. Claudio crushed him with a gutwrench suplex. Finally, the other J.A.S. members recovered and attacked their opponents with weapons, with Hager smashing Claudio’s ankle with a chair.

Ortiz evened things for his team and ran wild ahead of a break. During said break, Moxley hit a piledriver on Parker onto broken glass, busting him open. Upon return, however, Menard entered the match and smashed his opponents with a chair. Moxley was busted open as well.

There was an obnoxious “we want tables!” chant; thankfully, Santana obliged upon entering the match (in addition to bringing in his barbed wire bat). Santana ran wild but when he hit a uranage on an opponent, he appeared to hurt his leg legitimately. Moxley grabbed skewers and stabbed them into Menard’s forehead, but Menard stopped the attack with a low blow. YUTA and Garcia peppered each other with stiff slaps.

Jericho was his team’s final entrant, and he came in with Floyd the Bat. Ortiz immediately took him out with a DDT and choked him with a chair. There was essentially a parade of big moves, concluded with Cesaro running wild, but Jericho eventually cut him off with a Codebreaker.

The official start of the match occurred when Kingston entered. He casually beat down the J.A.S. with kendo stick shots. Jericho tried to escape the cage but was cornered by Kingston, who smashed him repeatedly with the stick. Kingston produced what appeared to be rubbing alcohol, but was cut off before he could use it. I have to note that Parker had an absolutely disgusting crimson mask at this point.

Blackpool Combat Club’s team was in control, and they powerbombed Hager through a table. Santana was still injured, practically immobile — it looked like a legitimate knee injury. YUTA and Moxley produced multiple bags of thumbtacks as Claudio and Ortiz exposed the ring boards. Moxley suplexed Menard onto the tacks, and Parker was practically strung up by the ankles in a nasty spot. BCC and company were firmly in control ahead of another commercial break.

Once back, Kingston and Jericho were going at it. Kingston got the upper hand, but Jericho took him out with a fire extinguisher. Conti got involved and took out the official, leading to Ruby Soho coming out and brawling with her.

Jericho escaped the structure and climbed on top of it. Kingston pursued him to the top. They fought, leading to Kingston nailing him with the Uraken. Guevara climbed up top too, cutting off Kingston’s attack on Jericho. They were a little aimless for a while; Jericho could audibly be heard calling spots.

In a preposterous and spectacular moment, Kingston hit Guevara with a low blow and tossed him off the top of Blood & Guts through a something like a table at ringside.

After one final commercial, Jericho put Kingston in the Walls on top of the structure. Claudio climbed and booted Jericho to break up the submission. He gave Jericho the giant swing on top of the cage and went for the Sharpshooter, but Menard climbed up and cut him off. Kingston locked Jericho in the Stretch Plum and Claudio applied the Sharpshooter. Menard tapped out, giving BCC’s team the win.

– After the match, Kingston was frustrated because he wanted to tap out Jericho, but Claudio won the match before he could. He also looked like he might be injured as he didn’t really move from a seated position on top of the cage until the very end.

All of BCC’s team except Santana came to the top of the structure to celebrate.

AEW Dynamite live results: Double or Nothing fallout

AEW makes their Los Angeles debut with tonight’s live Dynamite from the Kia Forum.

New AEW World Champion CM Punk will team with FTR against Max Caster and The Gunn Club in a trios match tonight. Punk defeated Hangman Page to win the title in the main event of Double or Nothing this past weekend.

Johnny Elite will return to the show, facing a mystery opponent. The former John Morrison debuted for the company as a Joker in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament last month.

After being stretchered out after a loss to Wardlow at Double or Nothing Sunday, MJF speaking has been advertised for Dynamite.

A 10-man tag with Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, Christian Cage, Darby Allin, and Matt Hardy facing Young Bucks, reDRagon, and NJPW’s Hikuleo is scheduled.

Jon Moxley will face Jericho Appreciation Society’s Daniel Garcia in a singles bout. A JAS celebration has also been teased on social media.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Jamie Hayter will team against Toni Storm and Ruby Soho in a rematch from an episode of Rampage last month.

Wardlow vs. JD Drake has also been announced for the show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Show Report —

“Cult of Personality” opened the show. I should note that Anthony Bowens is an unbelievable hype man for his team and the live crowd.

CM Punk & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) defeated Max Caster & The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) (w/ Billy Gunn & Anthony Bowens)

Dax and Austin started off, and the former got the advantage before tagging in his FTR partner. Colten tagged in as well before being taken down by Cash. Finally, Caster and Punk tagged in. Punk and FTR were able to isolate Caster as Cash came in with a second-rope powerslam for two.

The Gunn Club used a two-on-one attack on Dax to regain control. Billy got involved with a right hand while the official was distracted. Dax made a one-man comeback on everyone, but his partners were pulled off the apron before he could make a tag.

During a commercial break, there was an excellent and heartfelt promo from Bowens about Pride Month. Once back, Punk was given the hot tag — he slipped on the springboard in the way in but was able to take down the Gunn Club on his own before assisting Cash on a dive.

Punk landed the top rope elbow drop and called for the GTS, but Billy hopped on the apron to distract him. Austin rolled Punk up for two, but then Punk powerbombed Austin into Billy. A GTS and then the Big Rig from FTR gave Punk’s team the win.

– After the match, Punk said he’s never done drugs in his life, but he imagines this is what it feels like. He said there’s still lots to do, and he has to keep getting better. You can call him a lot of things, but you have to call him “the champ.”

Dax said that professional wrestling means the world to him, and his family (in attendance) is the only thing that means more. These ROH tag titles are everything, and it doesn’t matter if anyone from this company — or any other company — wants them.

Punk turned his attention to Forbidden Door, demanding that whoever he’s got for the show come on out.

“Go Ace!” sounded and the all-time great Hiroshi Tanahashi of New Japan Pro Wrestling made his entrance. He pointed at Punk, who posed with the AEW World Championship.

MJF speaks

This reviewer’s thoughts: There’s a lot to talk about here. Obviously the MJF-TK “issues” have been turned into a work. MJF was sensational in this segment, getting the crowd behind him after no-showing a fan-sign last week. But the part about being the only “safe” wrestler and talking about how he’s “good in the ring” was awful WCW-level “it’s a work” stuff that completely undermines the structure of a wrestling show. If they keep this up and drop that, this could be an all-time angle.

MJF came out and said he was in a lot of pain after Sunday. He said he’s here to talk, but as “Max Friedman.” He teased embarrassing Tony Khan and AEW in front of Warner Media executives and said he wouldn’t sit down and meet with TK.

When AEW started, it was “All Friends Wrestling.” Everyone was invited but MJF, even though everything he touches turns to gold. He said nobody’s capable of carrying the company on his back like he has for months. He insulted the fans, essentially calling them “fickle.” He said the boys in the back are part of the problem too.

MJF called the fans “uneducated marks” and said “you don’t know shit.” He said he’s the only “safe” wrestler, which doesn’t make sense, because wrestling is fake. He’s the “best.” He called himself the top minute-to-minute draw in AEW, and yet TK won’t open his pocketbook to pay the guy who’s been there since day one.

He asked if he were an ex-WWE guy, whether he’d get the big payday. He demanded that Tony Khan fire him and cursed loudly (it was beeped) before the screen went black and it cut to commercial, as if it was unscripted.

**********

This was billed as Johnny issuing an open challenge to anyone in the AEW locker room. A Miro video promo aired, saying he’d come after everyone who separated him from his gold. “The Redeemer is back.”

Miro defeated Johnny Elite

Miro immediately took it to Johnny, beating him down in the corner. He continued to dominate through a break. Once back, Johnny avoided a pump kick and landed a high kick. He kept up the offense with a springboard kick and a running shooting star press, but Miro kicked out at one.

Johnny hit a shining wizard and climbed the ropes, but Miro avoided the dive and hit his signature kick. Game Over followed for the submission.

Jericho Appreciation Society promo

A great video package recapped Anarchy in the Arena.

The live crowd got a near-full rendition of “Judas” before Jericho cut it off. He was out there with Hager and 2point0, but Garcia was absent ahead of his match with Jon Moxley.

Parker spoke first, saying they dominated Anarchy in the Arena and demanded that the crowd appreciate them. Menard, forehead full of stitches, said nobody does it better. Jericho said the crowd didn’t deserve to sing “Judas” tonight — they deserve the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Jericho said winning that match wasn’t without a price, going through and listing all his trials and tribulations throughout the match. He questioned Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson’s humanity for their actions. He said sports entertainers always win against pro wrestlers.

Eddie Kingston interrupted with William Regal behind him. None of his friends are there, but he’s fine with fighting them all right here. He offered Regal a chance to say where he wants to fight them, and Regal obliged: “Blood & Guts!”

Kingston ran down to the ring but was immediately beaten down by the J.A.S. Ortiz appeared behind Jericho and beat him down with a sack before cutting off some of Jericho’s hair.

Jericho was livid about his hair and accepted Kingston’s challenge for Blood & Guts, on one condition: Jericho vs. Ortiz, Hair vs. Hair. Jericho’s going to beat Ortiz, shave Ortiz, and burn Ortiz, because he’s a wizard.

At Double or Nothing, Samoa Joe was interviewed backstage, but Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh showed up and wrapped a chair around his already-injured shoulder before sending him into a steel structure.

The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson), reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish), & Hikuleo (w/ Brandon Cutler) defeated Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, Christian Cage, Darby Allin, & Matt Hardy

This was a super fun all-action tag match that sets up a tag title match.

Jungle Boy and O’Reilly started off, then Fish and Christian tagged in. Just about everyone in the match got a brief moment to tag in towards the start of the contest. Jungle Boy took Fish down to the floor with a great hurricanrana, then Christian landed a top-rope headbutt for two. The match broke down into a brawl; Darby hit his insane suicide dive and Luchasaurus landed an Orihara moonsault. Nick dove onto everyone ahead of the break.

The Undisputed Elite beat down Christian through commercial, but a double reverse DDT allowed him to reach Luchasaurus for the hot tag. The dinosaur ran wild on everyone. Jungle Boy hopped off his back for a running destroyer, then Luchasaurus hit a standing moonsault for two.

Hikuleo tagged in for the first time for a cool face-off with Luchasaurus. They hit simultaneous clotheslines, leading to Darby and O’Reilly tagging in. He gave Coffin Splashes to both O’Reilly and Fish before hitting the float-over stunner. Darby went for the Coffin Drop on Hikuleo on the outside, but the big man caught him, and reDRagon hit the assisted brainbuster on the floor.

Hardy tagged in and drove everyone’s faces into the turnbuckles. He hit the Twist of Fate on Hikuleo, then Christian took the big man out with a running spear. We got a parade of big moves finished off with a superkick party from the Bucks. reDRagon hit the High Low on Christian as the Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver on Jungle Boy for the win.

**********

Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee were backstage. Swerve had an entourage of people with him, saying he was “on his mogul stuff” right now. Lee said gold would be theirs soon.

**********

Athena speaks

Schiavone welcomed her to AEW. Athena talked about confronting Jade Cargill. Even though Jade’s undefeated, all streaks were meant to be broken, and she plans on breaking hers. Athena started going through her nicknames but was interrupted by Jade, the Baddies, and Stokely Hathaway.

Hathaway said it was a shame that Athena interrupted them at Double or Nothing. She said Jade is a “queen” and a “goddess,” as well as the TBS champion. Jade said the title shot wasn’t happening.

Kiera Hogan stepped up and exchanged words with Athena as Anna Jay and Kris Statlander stepped up to back her up. Hathaway demanded security separate them.

**********

Wardlow came out with no security detail per the stipulation from Double or Nothing. He also has a remixed theme.

Wardlow defeated JD Drake

Wardlow leveled Drake with a lariat before planting him on a slam. The Powerbomb Symphony (only two powerbombs this week) followed for the squash win.

– After the match, Schiavone was about to interview Wardlow, but Smart Mark Sterling came out flanked by security. He served Wardlow with a class action lawsuit on behalf of the security workers. Wardlow powerbombed one anyway.

**********

Dan Lambert and American Top Team were backstage. They said Dante Martin has potential, but it won’t be enough for him to win the TNT Championship. Dante walked up and challenged Sky for Rampage.

**********

Ruby Soho & Toni Storm defeated Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. & Jamie Hayter

Storm and Baker started off, and Storm was a house of fire, forcing Baker to tag out to Hayter. Soho came in as well, and Hayter and Baker worked together to establish control, with Baker giving her a neckbreaker on the floor ahead of the commercial.

Once back, Soho hit a back suplex and reached Storm for the hot tag. She ran wild on both opponents until Hayter countered a tornado DDT with a DDT of her own on the floor. Soho took out Hayter with a diving crossbody, then Baker came in with a sling blade on Soho.

Back inside the ring, Storm took out Baker with a German, but Hayter smashed Soho with a backbreaker. Baker hit a butterfly suplex on Soho but was rolled up for two. Soho hit No Future for a near fall. Baker hung on after the kickout and put on her glove for the Lockjaw. She tried to cradle out of it, but an assist from Hayter gave Baker a cradle attempt for a near fall.

Baker hit a swinging neckbreaker on Soho. Miscommunication between Hayter and Baker led to Soho hitting Destination Unknown for the win, pinning Baker.

– Hayter attacked Soho with the Owen Hart Cup belt after the match.

Jon Moxley defeated Daniel Garcia

This was an excellent hard-hitting affair, better than their first match at the First Dance last year.

Moxley had the upper hand early on, beating Garcia down. Garcia would try to fire back with strikes, but Moxley had the power and stamina advantage. Moxley went for the Paradigm Shift, but Garcia drove him out of the ring and sent him into the steel steps and kicked them into Moxley’s leg. Moxley’s forehead was opened up after being cut on Sunday.

After a commercial, Garcia hit an avalanche back suplex for two. Moxley countered a Sharpshooter attempt, then hit the ex-plex on Garcia onto the steel steps. Back in the ring, Moxley hit a top-rope butterfly suplex for a near fall. He laid in anvil elbows and went for a rear naked choke, but Garcia rolled out of it and laid in elbows of his own.

Garcia applied a rear naked choke, but Moxley rolled through and applied an armbar. Garcia wrestled out of it and forced Moxley to the ropes with a submission. Out of nowhere, Moxley got a cradle for a near fall and hit a German. Garcia returned fire with one of his own and hit a straight piledriver for a near fall.

Moxley fought out of a Sharpshooter attempt and they traded strikes in the ring. Out on the outside, Garcia hopped on Moxley’s back and they fell backward over the timekeeper’s table.

Jericho ran down to the ring to distract Moxley, but Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift and applied the Bulldog Choke for the win as Eddie Kingston ran out to take care of Jericho.

– After the match, Moxley said he wanted Blood and Guts. Jericho vs. Ortiz was announced for AEW Road Rager in two weeks, and Blood and Guts was confirmed for four weeks away on June 29. The show signed off four minutes past the hour.

AEW Dynamite live results: Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale

AEW returns to New York tonight for a live Dynamite from the UBS Arena on Long Island.

The third annual Dynamite Diamond battle royale will take place. The event has only known one winner in MJF, and he will look to keep that streak going here. Lio Rush, Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks are the other announced participants in the 15-man field. The two finalists in tonight’s battle royale advance to a singles match next week at Winter is Coming to determine the winner.

A week before he challenges Hangman Page for the AEW World title, Bryan Danielson will take on Dark Order’s John Silver tonight. Danielson has been running through Dark Order members in singles matches before he gets his shot at the group’s friend, Page.

The Young Bucks will return to in-ring action for the first time since last month’s Full Gear pay-per-view when they take on Chuck Taylor and Rocky Romero of CHAOS.

Jamie Hayter will face the top contender to Britt Baker’s AEW Women’s title, Riho.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Show Report —

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz were on commentary.

CM Punk promo

MJF’s music played to start the show, but CM Punk walked out instead. He got a rather mixed reaction in MJF’s hometown and proceeded to taunt the hometown fans. He revealed a “four pillars” shirt and called MJF an “incel” before reminding the fans that MJF ran away the last time they squared up.

Next week, Punk will have his eyes on the AEW World Championship match between Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson. Before that happens, he and MJF need to settle things. He said his dog Larry has more balls than MJF — and he’s neutered. Punk wants MJF to stand up and fight, and if that’s who the fans back, they’re all “chickensh*t.”

**********

MJF got a detailed entrance video vignette. He pulled up to his old high school in a Ferrari as a voice-over hailed him as a Long Island hero and listed his accomplishments. He was the only wrestler to get a full entrance for the battle royale.

MJF and Dante Martin were the final two participants in the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale

The participants were MJF, Wardlow, Matt Hardy, Frankie Kazarian, Jay Lethal, Powerhouse Hobbs, Dante Martin, Lio Rush, Ricky Starks, Lee Moriarty, Matt Sydal, and Lee Johnson.

Wardlow quickly eliminated Moriarty and saved MJF from elimination at the hands of Jay Lethal. The Bunny passed brass knuckles to Hardy, and he eliminated Lethal after striking him, but Dante immediately eliminated Hardy. Dante and Lio Rush faced off but were knocked down by Wardlow and Hobbs, who had a power battle. Wardlow nearly eliminated Hobbs before a front flip kick from Rush sealed the deal. Starks and Rush battled it out before commercial.

Once back, Wardlow and MJF were swarmed by the other competitors in the match. Rush and Johnson tried to eliminate Wardlow, but MJF came up and eliminated all three. Kazarian tried to eliminate MJF, but MJF bridged the ropes and Kazarian went flying.

The final were MJF, Dante Martin, and Ricky Starks. It appeared that Team Taz had a two-on-one advantage, but Dante turned on Starks and eliminated him.

It will be MJF vs. Dante Martin next week for the Dynamite diamond ring.

– After the match, MJF raised Dante’s hand. Starks ran back in and attacked Dante. MJF looked on conflicted on the stage, but then he ran to the ring to run interference. He and Starks faced off, but then MJF attacked Dante. CM Punk ran down and MJF bailed out of the ring. Dante hit Starks with an enziguiri and Punk hit the GTS to stand tall to end the segment.

Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) and the Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison) (w/ Christian Cage & Julia Hart) defeated The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) and 2point0 (Jeff Parker & Matt Lee) (w/ Daniel Garcia)

Bowens started off with Jungle Boy, who fought off all four or his opponents. The Blonds tagged in as Pillman landed a diving dropkick and then Garrison hit a wild dive on everyone. A dropkick Hart Attack on Caster got two. 2point0 distracted the official, allowing Bowens to interfere as the illegal man. The Acclaimed and 2point0 isolated Pillman in their corner of the ring. This was a long beatdown.

Pillman finally broke through after double knees, reaching Luchasaurus for the hot tag. The big man ran wild on everyone, including chokeslamming Bowens onto Caster. Jungle Boy tagged in with the rebound lariat, but then we got a parade of big moves from everyone. Jungle Boy went for the Snare Trap, but Garcia hopped on the apron to distract the official. Eddie Kingston ran out and pulled Garcia off the apron.

Caster missed the Mic Drop and Jungle Boy locked on the Snare Trap for the submission victory.

– After the match, Kingston brought a camera backstage and called for a fight. Ortiz tried to talk him down, but 2point0 and Garcia attacked them and left them laying.

**********

FTR and Tully Blanchard were backstage. Tully talked up FTR’s accomplishments, and Cash said the Lucha Brothers’ one victory over them was a mistake. Dax said this Friday’s tag title match is the biggest match of their career.

**********

The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/ Adam Cole & Brandon Cutler) defeated CHAOS (Chuck Taylor & Rocky Romero) (w/ Orange Cassidy)

This was a stellar tag team match, the first pure Bucks match we’ve seen in a while, and the post-match was hot.

Rocky and Nick started off. They had a nice choreographed exchange until Rocky took control with an arm drag. Chuck and Matt tagged in, with Chuck rolling Matt up for two. The Bucks dropkicked Chuck off the apron, but Rocky dispatched Nick and took him out with a tope suicida. Matt immediately came back with a dropkick to the floor. The Bucks isolated Rocky in their corner and beat him down with frequent tags until Rocky escaped to Chuck for a hot tag.

Chuck came in with a DDT and flatliner combination. He then landed a tope con giro onto both Bucks but immediately turned around into double superkicks. Rocky took a superkick as well, then the Bucks did their rope-run kiss with Cole on the floor. Nick hit a soccer kick on Chuck followed by a flipping senton, sending Chuck to the floor. The Bucks did the senton again in the ring as they dominated into the commercial.

Once back, Cole leveled Orange with a pump kick. Chuck had put his cool-guy shades on and tossed Nick overhead into Matt. Rocky tagged in and went for the Forever Clotheslines before hitting a double hurricanrana and then a step-up hurricanrana on Nick. Back in the ring, Rocky hit Sliced Bread on Matt for two.

Nick attacked Rocky with an X-factor but ran into Soul Food from Chuck. Matt went for multiple Northern Lights suplexes but Rocky turned it into a DDT. Cutler distracted the official and Cole tried to get involve, but Orange cut him off with his weak strikes. Nick crushed him with a superkick, but Cutler inadvertently cold sprayed Matt in the face. Rocky jackknifed Matt, but Nick broke up the pin in the nick of time.

Matt countered Sliced Bread into Tombstone position, but Rocky cradled out of it for a fantastic backslide near fall. Matt pumphandled Romero into perfect Meltzer Driver position and the Bucks hit it for the win.

– SuperKliq and Cutler beat down the others after the match. Wheeler YUTA ran down but was immediately knocked down by Cole. Cole then hit the Panama Sunrise on Orange. SuperKliq set up for a three-way BTE Trigger, but Best Friends’ music played and Sue drove up in her minivan with Trent in tow. Trent had a shaved head making his return after spinal surgery.

Trent speared Cutler on the ramp and took out Matt and Cole with lariats before dispatching Nick with a half-and-half suplex. The Best Friends all hugged to end the segment as Rocky’s “Roppongi Vice” theme played.

**********

Ruby Soho was interviewed backstage but was immediately interrupted by Bunny and Penelope Ford. They said that Nyla Rose had promised them title shots when she wins the TBS Championship. Soho attacked them but was surprised by Rose. Anna Jay and Tay Conti chased them off.

**********

Sammy Guevara was about to be interviewed on the ramp but was immediately interrupted by Cody Rhodes, who announced Guevara would defend the TNT Championship against him. Cody walked off, but Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky interrupted from the stands. Page was frustrated by the “open challenge” aspect of things, accusing Cody of nepotism. He thanked Dan Lambert for getting him his title match and announced that he would return.

Sky said Guevara would face anyone — except guys ranked in the top 5. He told Guevara to prove he’s a champion, and Guevara was ready for a match.

A Thunder Rosa vs. Jade Cargill TBS Tournament hype video played.

Riho defeated Jamie Hayter (w/ Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. & Rebel)

These two matched up really well. Riho’s a star.

Hayter tried to overpower Riho early on with a scoop slam for two. She targeted Riho’s midsection and distracted the official, allowing Baker to land a cheap shot. Riho came back with a tijeras and a tiger feint kick. She climbed the ropes and landed a diving crossbody for two. She then dove off the top again towards Hayter, who sort of caught her and drove her back into the ring post.

Back in the ring, Hayter continued the beatdown on Riho’s torso leading into the break. Riho started a comeback with a cazadora takeover and a standing double stomp. She rolled Hayter up for two, but Hayter powered out of a dragon suplex. Riho turned it around and hit the dragon suplex for two. Hayter turned a Northern Lights suplex into a nasty brainbuster for a near fall.

Hayter crushed Riho with a backbreaker for another two. She locked on a single-leg crab, but Riho rolled through and cradled Hayter for two. Riho landed a rising knee and hit a Yoshi Tonic for a good near fall. She then climbed the ropes and hit the top-rope double stomp for another good near fall.

Riho climbed the ropes again, but Hayter met her at the top. Riho fought her off, but Rebel interfered with the official distracted, allowing Hayter to go for a top-rope Samoan drop. Riho turned it into an avalanche crucifix bomb, then the Somato finished Hayter off for three.

– After the match, Baker attacked Riho and beat her down.

Bryan Danielson defeated John Silver

Silver took down Danielson early on with impressive power. Danielson quickly regained control and landed a diving knee drop to the back of Silver’s head as the latter was draped over the apron. Danielson dominated through a commercial break.

Upon return, Danielson was nailing Silver in the corner with stiff strikes. Silver started his comeback by reversing a missile dropkick into a powerbomb. He peppered Danielson with kicks and rolled through into a heel hook. Danielson tried to fight out, but Silver wouldn’t let go, so Danielson desperately fought to force a break.

Silver landed a cannonball senton out on the floor. Danielson landed on his feet on a German attempt and crushed Silver with a buzzsaw kick. Silver countered the Busaiku Knee and hit a German suplex bridge for two. He went for the spin doctor throw, but Danielson raked the eyes and trapped Silver’s head against his knee, raining down elbow strikes.

Danielson then hit a Gotch-style piledriver and locked on some submission (the camera angle made it hard to see) for the win.

– After the match, Danielson listed all the Dark Order members whose head he kicked in, saying he’d do the same to Page next week. He beat down Silver until Page ran out and attacked him, sending him packing. Page grabbed a mic and said “Next week, I’m gonna stomp the cowboy sh*t outta you.”

AEW Dynamite live results: Cody Rhodes vs. Andrade El Idolo

An Atlanta Street Fight headlines tonight’s live AEW Dynamite from Duluth, Georgia.

Cody Rhodes will face Andrade El Idolo in the match. Rhodes has been feuding with the loosely-aligned Malakai Black and Andrade since both debuted in the company this past summer.

The TBS Championship tournament will continue with the last quarterfinals matchup, as Ruby Soho takes on Kris Statlander to decide who will join Nyla Rose, Jade Cargill and Thunder Rosa in the semifinals. The winner of Soho-Statlander will take on Rose at a later date.

CM Punk will face Lee Moriarty tonight in a first-time matchup. Punk remains undefeated in his AEW career, going a perfect 7-0.

Sting and Darby Allin will tag against Gunn Club’s Billy Gunn and Colten Gunn. AEW World title number one contender Bryan Danielson will also be in action on the show, facing Dark Order’s Alan Angels.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Show Report —

Excalibur and Tony Schiavone were on commentary without Jim Ross, who is taking time off for treatment on his skin cancer diagnosis. Best wishes, JR!

AEW World Champion Hangman Page joined commentary for the opener.

Bryan Danielson defeated Alan “5” Angels

Danielson toyed with Angels early on. Angels came back with kicks, chops and five (ha!) punches in the corner until he was cut off by strikes from Danielson. Angels surprised Danielson with a backslide, but Danielson suplexed him into a cross armbreaker, forcing Angels to reach the ropes for a break. Angels sent Danielson to the floor and landed a tope suicida followed by an Orihara moonsault.

Back in the ring, Angels went up top again but had to adjust to hit a Spanish Fly for two. Danielson avoided a moonsault press and immediately crushed Angels with the Busaiku Knee before kicking Angels’ head in. It was elementary from there as Danielson locked on a knee bar for the quick submission.

– After the match, Danielson was interviewed by Schiavone in the ring, who asked if Danielson was ready. Danielson said he didn’t think that was the best Atlanta’s got, because he kicked his head in and probably snapped his MCL. Last week, he took out Colt Cabana’s tooth, and next week, he’ll stomp in another Dark Order member’s head. In two weeks, Danielson will take the AEW World Championship at the home of the (Dallas) Cowboys.

Page, who was on commentary, got hot and was about to run down to the ring, but John Silver ran out and cut him off, saying he’d get Danielson instead. Danielson fled, saying that was beneath him. If Page or Danielson touched each other, they’d be suspended. Danielson would slap Page right now, but the fans don’t deserve to see it.

CM Punk defeated Lee Moriarty

They performed chain wrestling to start until Punk took Moriarty down with a dropkick followed by a diving clothesline. After a break, Moriarty made a comeback concluded with a running uppercut and a belly-to-belly suplex for two. Punk hit a springboard crossbody, but Moriarty rolled through for two. The latter immediately locked on an over-the-shoulder crossface, but Punk fought out.

Up top, Punk hit a Frankensteiner. They traded repeated cradles until Punk landed a high kick, dropping Moriarty. Moriarty came back with a Pepsi Twist for a near fall, but then Punk powered Punk into the GTS for the win.

– After the match, MJF grabbed a mic and said he was proud of Punk. The only thing he’s good at nowadays is trying to get in Britt Baker’s pants.

Punk said that MJF was wearing Larry David’s pajamas, and QT Marshall and Lee Moriarty are better than MJF and he knows it. He shut MJF and told him to bring his “needle d*ck” into the ring right now.

MJF said that Punk needs him more than he needs Punk, giving him a spark he hasn’t had since 2011. Next week, MJF’s going to win the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale in Long Island, where he will be better than Bret Hart in Canada and Punk in Chicago. He insulted Punk’s dog, saying if he brought him around again, he’d put him to sleep.

Punk stormed up the ramp to confront MJF, but Wardlow walked out and stepped in between.

AEW women’s world champion Britt Baker was backstage with Rebel and Jamie Hayter. Baker complained about having to wrestle Riho. Hayter said she had one of the best matches in the TBS tournament, but Baker pointed out that she lost. Hayter will take on Riho next week.

**********

Adam Cole joined commentary for… something. Orange Cassidy made his entrance and faced off with Cole. The Young Bucks tried a sneak attack, but Orange had it scouted. After landing some stiff kicks, Cole low blowed Orange and the Bucks landed double superkicks. Chuck Taylor and Wheeler YUTA ran out with chairs to chase off the SuperKliq.

That was baffling. Why did Cole or Orange make their entrances? Was there a match or something scheduled? Didn’t make one lick of sense.

**********

Tony Nese cut a video promo. He will challenge Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship on Friday, and he will target the champ’s ribs.

**********

Wardlow (w/ Shawn Spears) defeated AC Adams

Wardlow squashed this poor man with four powerbombs.

– After the match, Spears attacked Adams with chair shots.

**********

Penta El Zero M and PAC were backstage. Due to an injury to Rey Fénix, PAC will replace him in this Friday’s match against FTR. PAC had an eye patch on, but he’d be a formidable opponent no matter what.

**********

Taz with Powerhouse Hobbs and HOOK, joined commentary for this match.

Darby Allin & Sting defeated The Gunn Club (Billy Gunn & Colten Gunn) (w/ Austin Gunn)

Allin and Colten wrestled around briefly to start, but then it was time for Sting and Billy to face off. Sting hit repeated backfists and an atomic drop, but Billy avoided a Stinger Splash. Allin tagged in and went for a Coffin splash, but Billy caught him and planted him with a uranage. The Gunn Club isolated Allin in their corner.

Upon return from break, Colten had a Scorpion Deathlock applied on Allin, who escaped and reach Sting for the hot tag. Sting landed Stinger Splashes on both opponents and a spinebuster on Colten for good measure. The Scorpion Deathlock followed, but with the official distracted, Austin broke up the hold. Allin took him out with a tope suicida.

Billy hit a Fame-asser on Sting, but he kicked out at two. Allin took out Billy with another awesome tope, then hit the float-over stunner on Colten. Sting followed with the Scorpion Deathdrop for the win.

**********

Chris Jericho was interviewed backstage. He said he didn’t come to Eddie Kingston’s aid last week, but he was out there to take out 2point0. Garcia and co. then attacked Jericho from behind, with Parker smacking Jericho with a chair.

After a break, we were informed that Jericho was receiving medical attention.

**********

Taz talked about how 25% of the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale were Team Taz members.

Lio Rush interrupted, saying Taz should know he’s had the odds stacked against him his entire career. He’s going to win the Dynamite Dozen. These people know that he is a fighter.

Taz said that Rush should just retire, and Dante Martin and Ricky Starks came out to taunt Rush and protect Taz.

**********

Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling were backstage. They said that Cargill would face off against Thunder Rosa’s student Janai Kai on Rampage. Rosa interrupted, saying she’d be on commentary.

**********

TBS Championship Tournament: Ruby Soho defeated Kris Statlander

This started slow but got really good at the end. Love seeing AEW showcase their women’s division in this tournament.

Neither woman could establish an advantage early on as both had the other scouted. Soho hit a flatliner to take control ahead of the break. Once back, Soho landed a top-rope senton for two, then a buzzsaw kick for another two. Statlander countered a cazadora into a Blue Thunder bomb for a near fall of her own.

Statlander went for the spider crab, but instead opted for a buckle bomb and almost like a Michinoku driver for a near fall. Soho came back with elbows and more strikes. Statlander blocked a turnbuckle attack, but Soho turned it into a poisonrana and a spike rana for a good near fall.

Soho went for No Future, but Statlander blocked it. Soho reversed the Big Bang Theory into a victory roll cradle for the win.

– After the match, Nyla Rose, Soho’s semifinal round opponent, attacked Soho. Statlander chased her off.

Atlanta Street Fight: Cody Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson) defeated Andrade El Idolo (w/ José the Assistant)

Andrade attacked during Cody’s entrance. Arn and José fought on the stage as Cody and Andrade brawled into the stands. Cody landed a twisting crossbody off a barricade. As they moved back towards the ring, Cody was sent face-first into the steel steps.

They made it back into the ring, where Cody hit a snap powerslam. He continued to be met with boos. Andrade low-blowed him and whipped him with his weight belt. He then pulled out José’s laptop and smashed it over Cody’s face before doing the same with a chair. Andrade produced a chain, but Cody avoided a shot, forcing Andrade to hit a split-leg moonsault onto Cody through a chair for two.

Cody fought out of a suplex and kicked Andrade low. He went for the Cody Cutter, but Andrade countered it by pushing Cody to the floor ahead of a commercial. Once back, Andrade went for another chair moonsault, but Cody tossed the chair into him. Cody grabbed the chain and punched Andrade with it. He went for a tope suicida, but Andrade cut him off with a chair shot.

Andrade ripped up the padding at ringside. He went for the Shadow DDT on the exposed floor, but Cody, who had been busted open, powered out of it. Cody grabbed a kendo stick, teased a sledgehammer, then opted for a golden shovel.

José ran out with a taser but was smacked by Cody’s shovel. Andrade then splashed Cody over the corner to the floor. Back in the ring, Andrade hit the corner double knees through a chair into Cody’s face for a near fall. Andrade then produced a table and put it in the ring, but Cody landed the drop-down right hand. He charged at Andrade and was hip tossed through the table for his trouble.

Andrade brought in another table and perched Cody on top of it. He climbed the ropes, but Cody rolled off and met Andrade up top. Cody crotched Andrade on the ropes, then Brandi made her return and doused lighter fluid on the table. She then lit the whole thing on fire. Cody hit the reverse DDT through the flaming table, burning himself, for the win.

Show Report —

Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Adam Cole were backstage. Omega said he was disgusted, saying there’s things he has to fix and change, and he can’t do it here. He asked the Bucks to hold it down while he’s gone, and Cole said “Cleaner, I got this.” Omega told Cole he was only referring to the Bucks, and Nick told Cutler to stop filming.

Hangman Page championship celebration

This was a home run of a segment. Page is AEW’s top star and Danielson has never been better.

It’s National Cowboy Sh*t Day. The Dark Order were already in the ring, and John Silver introduced Page, who made his entrance. The fans chanted “You deserve it,” and Page corrected them, saying “I earned it.” The crowd obliged with a chant. Page said he’s usually pretty shy, but now he’s the AEW world champion, so he’s going to do what he wants: celebrate National Cowboy Sh*t Day with everyone.

Page said that the AEW world championship means a lot of responsibility, and his first responsibility is taking on Bryan Danielson. Danielson’s music played and he walked out. He congratulated Page, but he’s a little surprised and disappointed that it’s not Kenny Omega standing across from him. Page came back saying he beat Omega at Full Gear — in less than 30 minutes.

Danielson said he didn’t come here to start something, but he’s going to kick Page’s ass. Danielson cares about wrestling, unlike Page, who just flaps his gums. When he won the title at WrestleMania, he wrestled the very next day. Page suggested they fight right now, and the crowd chanted “Yes!”, but Danielson didn’t think Page was ready. He doesn’t want Page to use that as an excuse when he beats him.

They got in each other’s face and exchanged shoves, and the Dark Order kept them apart. The crowd chanted “Let them fight!”, but Danielson said they wouldn’t do that. Page broke free and attacked, but Danielson escaped to the floor.

Bryan Danielson defeated Evil Uno

Uno got the advantage early on, so Danielson just slapped him across the face and laid in kicks and chops. Danielson dominated and Uno fired up with a corner attack and a hurricanrana. The hanging neckbreaker followed for two. Danielson starched Uno with slaps, jawing with him the whole time, before landing corner dropkicks. Uno cut off a third and wen for a senton atomico, but Danielson got the knees up.

Danielson landed the Busaiku knee and laid in repeated stomps before locking on the triangle for the referee stoppage.

– After the match, Tony Schiavone asked Danielson about the mixed fan reception. Danielson said he came out to congratulate Page, but because of Page’s behavior, he ended up kicking Uno’s head in. He’s going to take every member of the Dark Order and kick all their heads in. Next week, they’re in Chicago, so he’s going to kick Colt Cabana’s head in.

**********

An MJF video promo aired from after his match with Darby Allin. MJF said he wasn’t covered in paint, he’s covered in shame. Everyone said MJF couldn’t wrestle, that he was only good on the microphone, but he proved that he could wrestle. Even though everyone hates his guts, they have no choice to admit just how good he is. He beat Allin with a headlock takeover, and gesturing as if he was wearing a belt, he asked “who knows what’s next for MJF?”

**********

Eddie Kingston was about to be interviewed by Schiavone, but 2point0 and Daniel Garcia interrupted. They said Kingston didn’t last as long against Punk as Garcia did. Kingston said he doesn’t respect Garcia and shoved him.

**********

CHAOS (Orange Cassidy & Tomohiro Ishii) (w/ Best Friends & Rocky Romero) defeated The Butcher & The Blade (w/ Matt Hardy & The Bunny)

Ishii won NJPW’s NEVER Openweight Championship this weekend. He and Butcher started off, but Blade immediately tagged himself in. He laid in forearms, but Ishii wouldn’t give any ground and dropped Blade with one shot. Orange tagged in and did his hands-in-pockets schtick until Butcher blind tagged himself in and crushed Orange with a tackle. Bunny and Hardy attacked Orange on the floor ahead of the break.

Orange made his comeback upon return from commercial and reached Ishii for the hot tag. Ishii took out Blade with a shoulder tackle and laid in chops. A backdrop suplex got two. Butcher tagged in and they traded forearms in the center of the ring. Butcher laid in chops in the corner, but Ishii snapped and began to lean into them. Ishii placed Butcher on the top rope and landed a big-time superplex.

Butcher and Blade got the advantage after Orange tagged in, but the latter quickly countered with a DDT on Blade for a near fall. Hardy distracted Orange and Butcher and Blade hit a combo suplex, but Ishii broke up the pin and tagged himself in. Ishii laid in his combination in the corner. Hardy and Bunny distracted him, and the Blade got the brass knuckles, but Romero pulled him out of the ring and Orange landed a dive on H.F.O.

Ishii then crushed Blade with a lariat and the vertical drop brainbuster for the win.

**********

Andrade El Idolo and FTR were interviewed backstage. Andrade said that he proved he’s a better wrestler than PAC and Cody. Cash said he was frustrated and that he and Dax were robbed. They suggested getting Malakai Black and making it an eight-man tag. Tully addressed Arn and said he’s got one more in him.

**********

Tay Conti cut a promo saying she didn’t fail on Saturday: she learned. The next time she gets a title shot, she will become champion.

**********

Britt Baker, flanked by Hayter and Rebel, was interviewed. Baker said she’d direct the conversation to the inaugural TBS Champion: Hayter. They didn’t want to hear about Hayter’s opponent, Thunder Rosa. Baker promised Hayter would win.

**********

Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Hikaru Shida in the TBS Championship tournament

Neither woman could establish much of an advantage early on. Shida sent Rose to the floor, but Rose cut Shida off upon re-entry to the ring. She targeted Shida’s knee. Vickie choked Shida with a kendo stick when the official wasn’t looking. Shida started a bit of a comeback by sending Rose into the barricade. She picked up a chair and teased her step-up knee, but Rose leveled her with a lariat. Rose perched Shida on the chair and went for a cannonball senton, but Shida rolled out of the way and Rose went crashing through the chair.

Shida caught a kendo stick shot from Vickie and whacked her with it. Rose attacked Shida’s knee ahead of the break. Once back, Serena Deeb showed up and attacked Shida’s knee herself. Rose perched Shida over the top rope and landed her diving knee for two. She went for the Beast Bomb, but Shida turned it into a triangle. Rose powered out with a powerbomb.

Rose went for a top-rope senton but Shida rolled out of the way and cradled Rose for two. Rose caught a kick and applied a cool standing stretch muffler for the submission victory.

**********

Malakai Black talked about the definition of a nightmare. He said his team in the eight-man tag would haunt his four opponents. He told his opponents to take deep breaths while oxygen is still on their side.

**********

MJF promo

MJF walked out flanked by Wardlow and Shawn Spears. He asked Spears to shut the crowd up, and Spears failed. MJF told the crowd they’re looking at the guy who checks all the boxes, the most complete pro wrestler on this planet. He’s the past, the present, and the future of professional wrestling, and could take a “big old cowboy sh*t” right on Hangman Page’s title reign. MJF deserves to be the next AEW world champion, because nobody in that locker room is on his level.

CM Punk’s music played and he walked out. There were lots of chants. MJF introduced himself and offered a handshake, but Punk just turned around and walked off.

**********

Darby Allin was interviewed backstage. Allin said MJF didn’t break him mentally, and they would have a rematch at some point. He’s not taking time off, and he wants the best and baddest of AEW. The Gunn Club walked up and Billy challenged Allin to a match.

**********

SuperKliq were backstage. They said Full Gear was one of the worst nights of their lives. Neither of the Young Bucks are even cleared anymore. SuperKliq will come back stronger than ever, and Rampage will be Adam Cole & Bobby Fish against the Jurassic Express. Fish walked up and promised to put an end to the Jurassic joke. They teased dissension at the end.

**********

Lio Rush & Dante Martin defeated The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens)

Caster did his rapping gimmick before the match, so Rush and Dante took them out with dives. They worked seamlessly as a team to take out Bowens with a double team for two and kept up the advantage until Caster tripped Dante without being the legal man. The Acclaimed beat Dante down with repeated tags through the commercial.

Back from break, Rush got the hot tag and took out both members of the Acclaimed. An axe kick got two. Bowens rolled out of the way of the frog splash and Dante missed his double springboard moonsault. Bowens took out Rush with kicks, but Dante came back with a springboard dropkick on Bowens.

The Acclaimed regrouped and hit the Mic Drop into Acclaim To Fame on Rush, but Dante broke up the pin. Dante hit his double springboard moonsault, then Rush hit the frog splash for the win.

– After the match, Team Taz walked out and congratulated Rush and Dante. Taz offered condolences to Rush and his family. He talked about offering Dante a contract last week in Rush’s absence. Starks said they’d be patient and brought up that they were patient with Hobbs. The choice between Team Taz and Rush is the choice between a hall of fame career and a mediocre one.

**********

Christian Cage and Jurassic Express were backstage. Christian said it was one of the best nights of their careers. Jungle Boy said the change inside him is here to stay. They’re better now than they’ve ever been, and they’d see Cole and Fish on Friday.

Before the match, Lethal told Guevara to get ready for the toughest fight of his life.

TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara (c) defeated Jay Lethal

Great main event.

This is Lethal’s first AEW match, while Guevara had taped-up ribs. Tony Nese was shown in the crowd. Guevara countered a quick Lethal Injection attempt into a GTH hold, but Lethal fought out and they exchanged cradles until a stalemate. Lethal got control and hit the Lethal Combination, but Guevara sent Lethal to the floor and landed a major dive. Back in the ring, Guevara attempted a shooting star press, but Lethal got his knees up, leading to the commercial break.

During the commercial, officials checked on Guevara, who may have legitimately injured his midsection in some way. He stood up really gingerly. Once back, Guevara fired back into the ring and was flapjacked by Lethal, so yeah, Guevara appears to be fine. Guevara countered the Lethal Injection into a Spanish Fly. Lethal sent Guevara to the outside and went for a tope suicida, but Guevara stopped it and landed a brainbuster on the floor.

Guevara landed a bicycle knee on the outside. Lethal fell backwards onto a table, so Guevara went for a senton atomico, but Lethal moved out of the way and Guevara crashed through. Lethal went for the top-rope elbow drop but Guevara turned it into a cradle for a near fall. Guevara flipped out of a lariat attempt, but Lethal turned him inside out with an inverted suplex for two.

Lethal locked on the Figure Four in the center of the ring. Guevara had to fight to reach the ropes. He kneed Lethal in the face and went for the GTH, but his midsection was too hurt. Guevara landed multiple rising knees and hit the GTH for the win.

Earlier today, Kazuchika Okada invited the Best Friends (including Orange Cassidy) to join/re-join his CHAOS stable, of which Romero is also a member.

Bryan Danielson defeated Rocky Romero (w/ Best Friends)

They shook hands to start. An extended technical exchange led to a stalemate until Romero baited Danielson to the floor, frustrating him. Orange taunted Danielson by putting his hands in his pockets, and Romero used the distraction to take out Danielson with a tope suicida. Romero continued to target Danielson’s upper body and shoulder.

Danielson turned it around in the corner and laid in the Yes kicks. He then locked on the Romero special before modifying into a dragon sleeper variation, which Romero fought off by going for a double wristlock. Danielson was sent to the floor again, where Romero hit a jumping hurricanrana. Back in the ring, Romero hit Sliced Bread #2 for two.

They fought up top, where Danielson went for a back superplex, but Romero turned it into a crossbody for two. He immediately applied an armbar upon Danielson’s kickout, but Danielson reversed it with a powerbomb. They traded holds once more, with Romero targeting the arm and Danielson with his sights set on Romero’s leg.

Danielson cradled Romero out of a triangle and crushed him with a buzzsaw kick. He countered Sliced Bread into the repeated armlock stomps before applying an omoplata crab (almost a Tequila Sunrise) for the submission.

Inner Circle & America’s Top Team brawl

The Inner Circle were introduced by Tony Schiavone, but America’s Top Team attacked during “Judas.” Dos Santos laid in a hard body shot on Guevara. They sent Santana into the ring steps. Dos Santos repeatedly hit Jericho with a kendo stick as Arlovski attacked Ortiz with a trash can.

In the ring, Sky and Page set up a table and assisted Lambert in powerbombing Jericho through it. Sky and Page grabbed a mic and said they wouldn’t just win at Full Gear, they’d ensure that Lambert pinned Jericho. Lambert put Jericho in the Walls and screamed “it’s called a Boston crab!”

**********

Tay Conti, Thunder Rosa, & Anna Jay defeated Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, & Rebel

Hayter and Rosa got into it before the bell. Once everyone regrouped, it was Rosa and Baker. Baker quickly fled to tag in Rebel, who was easily taken care of by Rosa. Rebel’s partners interfered, allowing the heels to take control before commercial.

Once back, Conti got the hot tag. She ran wild on her opponents with clotheslines, but was overwhelmed with the numbers advantage. Rosa and Hayter faced off, and then we got a parade of big moves, leading to everyone down. Rosa landed a top-rope crossbody all the way to Hayter on the floor. Rebel was left alone in the ring, where Conti hit the hammerlock DDT for the win.

A video promo aired hyping Kris Statlander vs. Ruby Soho in the TBS Championship tournament.

Jungle Boy defeated Anthony Bowens (w/ Max Caster)

Bowens established a brief advantage, but taunting allowed Jungle Boy to fire up and beat him down. Jungle Boy held the advantage for a long time, playing the hits like the springboard arm drag, until Caster interfered and allowed Bowens to take control leading into the break.

Upon return, Jungle Boy made his comeback with the rebound lariat. Bowens came back with a thrust kick for two. Jungle Boy looked for the Snare Trap, but Caster hopped on the apron. Jungle Boy took Caster out with a dive, but Bowens hit a hangman’s DDT for two. Jungle Boy countered yet again to lock on the Snare Trap, flipping off Caster and forcing Bowens to tap.

– After the match, Bobby Fish ran out and took out Jungle Boy, hitting a pretty nasty exploder suplex into the ropes. Christian Cage and Luchasaurus ran out to make the save.

When the show came back from break, CM Punk and Eddie Kingston had to be separated in the parking garage. Various wrestlers and backstage personnel were keeping them apart.

**********

Lio Rush & Dante Martin defeated Matt Sydal & Lee Moriarty

Rush’s grandmother passed away this week — he dedicated this match to her memory on social media, and he absolutely lived up to that high standard with a phenomenal performance. This was such a fun television tag.

Moriarty and Dante performed a nice choreographed sequence at the start of the match. Their partners tagged in, with a shot from Moriarty allowing Sydal to take Rush down with a kick. Rush came back with a step-up hurricanrana. It broke down into a four-way ahead of the commercial.

Dante hit a springboard dropkick upon return from the break, allowing him to reach Rush, but Moriarty immediately took him down with a big boot and a running uppercut. Rush fought off both opponents, hitting a cyclone kick on Sydal and an enziguiri on Moriarty. He then hit the handspring double elbow and kipped up, landing dives on both opponents.

We got a train wreck spot on the top rope, with Moriarty popping up to the top and taking Dante down with a throw for a near fall. Rush dispatched Sydal and Dante hit the double springboard moonsault on Moriarty for the win.

**********

Miro addressed Bryan Danielson. He asked if Danielson could comprehend his God. Miro needs to win this tournament and put the world championship over his shoulder.

**********

PAC vs. Dax Harwood (w/ Tully Blanchard)

Both performed a technical wrestling exchange, but neither could establish control early on. They traded forearms in the center of the ring. PAC hit a snap German and sent Dax to the floor, landing a Fosbury Flop before the break. That was a bit of a car crash — PAC splatted on the floor and Dax was busted open on his chest.

They were fighting on the top rope upon return from commercial. PAC hit a nasty top-rope brainbuster for two. He then hit a missile dropkick as Tully implored Dax to get back up. Dax rolled out of the way of the Black Arrow and a quick distraction from Tully allowed Dax to hit the sheer drop brainbuster for a good near fall.

PAC climbed the ropes once more, but Dax popped up and hit an avalanche back suplex. He turned PAC inside out with a lariat and then hit a rebound Liger bomb for a near fall. They traded strikes before a backslide allowed PAC to apply the Brutalizer for the submission victory.

– After the match, the lights went out and Cash Wheeler, Malakai Black, and Andrade El Idolo appeared to beat down PAC. The Lucha Bros and Cody Rhodes ran out and everyone brawled.

Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page contract signing

They sat across from each other at either end of a long table. Page, as the challenger, went to sign first. He said that the sooner he signs the contract, the sooner he gets to Full Gear and beats Omega. “Cowboy sh*t” chant.

Omega said that if it wasn’t for Page’s insecurity and failures, he could have the world championship and the backing of the Elite. Omega saw a bit of himself in Page — how wrong he was. “What a disappointment.”

Page said that Omega’s also had a tag partner that he perhaps didn’t measure up to, referencing Kota Ibushi. When Omega beat Page at Full Gear last year, he told Page “good job, Hanger.” But Omega wasn’t proud of Page, he was scared of him. Page will become that fear when Page wins the world championship this Saturday.

Omega said that wanted to be the guy to see Page reach his potential. He offered to shake Page’s hand, saying “let’s kill it at the pay-per-view.” They shook hands, and Omega said “Good job Hangman, I’m proud of you.”

The cameraman then decked Page with his camera. He unmasked as Don Callis. Page was busted open. Omega smeared Page’s blood all over the contract as the show ended.

AEW Dynamite live results: CM Punk vs. Bobby Fish

The AEW World title eliminator tournament will continue on Dynamite. Jon Moxley takes on Preston “10” Vance of The Dark Order.

The TBS Championship tournament also continues tonight. Hikaru Shida will face Serena Deeb in a first round matchup.

The Elite team of Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Adam Cole will face Dark Order’s John Silver, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson in an eight-man tag.

MJF will also be in action on tonight’s episode.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

CM Punk defeated Bobby Fish

This was probably Punk’s weakest match since his return. It was fairly methodical and slow-paced, even more than previous Punk AEW matches. The finish was odd as well.

The early portion of the match featured a lot of stalling from Fish. Neither man could establish an advantage as they wore each other down with holds. Punk used a series of body slams and then soaked up adulation from the crowd. He teased an early GTS, but Fish grabbed the ropes to fight out. Punk clotheslined Fish out of the ring and landed a tope suicida, driving Fish into the barricade.

Punk looked for the top-rope elbow drop, but Fish rolled to the floor and tripped Punk, sending him crashing to the apron. This allowed Fish to target Punk’s left knee and dominate with strikes and holds. Fish maintained control for a long time.

They fought on the top rope, where Punk was able to send Fish back to the mat. He landed a one-footed elbow drop and got the better of a strike exchange to start his comeback. Punk hit a neckbreaker and his rising corner knee short-arm clothesline combination. Fish countered a GTS with a dragon screw.

Punk cradled Fish, who bridged out of it, but Punk then hit the GTS out of nowhere to win. Fish kicked out late as the finish appeared to have some miscommunication.

A Malakai Black video played. He addressed Cody, saying he turned his family against him and made the crowd hate him. “The house always wins.”

**********

MJF (w/ Wardlow & Shawn Spears) defeated Bryce Donovan

MJF whipped Donovan into the corner and hit the Heatseeker for the squash win.

– After the match, MJF cut a promo. He insulted Boston a lot. A “Darby” chant interrupted. He turned his attention to Allin and said he broke him mentally. Now that Allin’s out of his hair, there’s nothing stopping MJF from his destiny. After Full Gear, it doesn’t matter who wins between Omega or Page, because MJF is the future world champion.

Sting’s music played, but it stopped after a moment, and MJF cracked himself up at the ruse. The lights went out again, and this time, a video played of Allin beating up someone dressed like MJF. I believe it was rapper JPEGMAFIA but I could be mistaken.

When the lights came back on, Sting was in the ring and whacked Wardlow and Spears with the bat. Allin appeared in the crowd and sent MJF running up the ramp. He then produced the thumbtack-addled skateboard and smacked it over Wardlow’s back. He had just two words for MJF: “Full Gear.”

**********

Britt Baker, Rebel, and Jamie Hayter were backstage with Tony Schiavone. This Friday, Baker will have a Trick or Treat match (no disqualification) with Abadon for the AEW Women’s Title. Baker said she had a couple of tricks of her own.

**********

TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara (c) defeated Ethan Page

If Guevara wins, the Inner Circle get to choose who they face at Full Gear. If Page wins, Guevara must leave the Inner Circle.

Guevara bolted down the ramp and attacked before the bell. He sent Page to the floor and landed a great flipping dive before tossing Page over the timekeeper’s table. Once back in the ring, the match finally started. Early on, Guevara had an answer for everything Page threw at him until Page crotched Guevara over the top turnbuckle and sent him to the floor.

Once back from commercial, Guevara fought out of Ego’s Edge and made his comeback with clotheslines and an enziguiri. He landed a nice double springboard cutter and a standing Spanish Fly for two. A top-rope shooting star press to a standing Page on the floor followed.

Page countered the GTH and hit an iconoclasm followed by an inside-out slam for two. Page slammed Guevara off the top rope and a running shoulder tackle followed for two more. Page went for a top-rope Ego’s Edge, but Guevara reversed it into a hurricanrana and cradled Page to win and retain.

– After the match, Scorpio Sky came out and he and Page beat down Guevara. The Inner Circle ran out to make the save.

Jericho cut a promo. He respects that Sky has beaten him twice, but Page only beats… himself… in his hotel room. Guevara won, so there will be a five-on-five Full Gear tag team match between America’s Top Team and the Inner Circle. It will be a Minneapolis Street Fight. Next week, the Inner Circle will decide which members of America’s Top Team to face.

**********

Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingston were backstage with Tony Schiavone. They will face off in the AEW world title eliminator tournament. Kingston was insulted by Danielson’s prior comments, accusing Danielson of not walking a mile in his shoes. Danielson said that’s the Kingston he wants to see. He’s been through it too, but he doesn’t complain about it. Some of the best wrestlers in the world are in this tournament, but on Friday night, Danielson will prove that he’s the best.

The Lucha Bros were backstage with Tony Schiavone. Penta laid down the challenge to FTR in Spanish, then Fénix did the same thing in English.

TBS Championship Tournament: Hikaru Shida defeated Serena Deeb

Wow! This was the best AEW women’s match in forever, maybe since Riho vs. Deeb at Double or Nothing back in May.

Shida landed a big inside-out suplex early on leading to the break. Upon return, Shida hit a running knee and a sliding forearm. A missile dropkick followed by a delayed vertical suplex got two. They had a nice striking counter exchange, leading to a spider German and an inverted slam from Shida for two. A sliding knee from Shida got yet another near fall.

Deeb took control and looked to lock on a cradle, but Shida kicked out of it and sent Deeb to the floor. Shida set up her chair, Deeb had it scouted, but Shida improvised by stepping up the stairs and landing a running dropkick. Deeb tripped Shida up and locked her in a Figure Four over the ring post.

Back in the ring, Deeb went for the Figure Four again, but Shida cradled out of it for two. Shida then hit a question mark kick and a knee strike, but Deeb rolled backwards into a half crab. She then rolled Shida back into the ring for an inverted Figure Four. Shida eventually reached the ropes.

Deeb grabbed Shida’s 50-win plaque, but Shida had it scouted. Shida considered hitting Deeb with the plaque, but when the official took it away, Deeb poked Shida’s eye and cradled her for a great near fall. Another cradle exchange finally led to Shida picking up the win.

– After the match, Deeb grabbed a chair and repeatedly smashed it over Shida’s leg. She continue to dismantle Shida’s knee until the officials came out to restore order.

**********

Lio Rush and Dante Martin were backstage with Schiavone. The proposed tag match between Rush/Martin and the Sydals is off due to Mike’s injury, so it will be a Martin vs. Matt Sydal singles match. Rush implied that the Sydals were ducking him, saying his in-ring debut would come at another time. Unlike Matt Sydal, Rush cares about teaching Dante about this business.

**********

AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament: Jon Moxley defeated Preston “10” Vance

Moxley immediately landed a German suplex and stomped 10 down in the corner. He sent 10 into the ring steps and ripped at his mask. 10 was busted open badly as Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift for the squash win in a couple minutes.

**********

FTR and Tully Blanchard were backstage. They’ve waited almost a year to get back their championships. Come Full Gear, the Lucha Bros will have to do something they’ve never done before: fight.

Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo promo

This was tons of fun. Definitely more complex than your average wrestling storyline.

Cody came to the ring with Arn Anderson and was met with heavy boos. “Whether you believe it or not, I hear you.” He hit the Tiger Driver ’98 to win against Malakai Black, but for a brief moment, he thought about hitting a different move (a Pedigree). He didn’t do that, because that’s too easy. He asked the fans to not forget the person who built this place.

He tossed his shoes to the crowd and asked them to take a moment in them. Cody debuted at 20, his wife is too hot for him, and his brother’s better than him. He will never leave behind the cultural legacy of his father Dusty. “I will not turn, because I love you guys very much.” He turned to Arn and said it was an honor to stand in the ring with him before shaking his hand.

Andrade El Idolo interrupted. He said that the people don’t like him or Cody, but the difference is, Andrade doesn’t care. Cody makes stupid choices, like getting in Andrade’s business. If Cody wants, Andrade can make him his “little b*tch.”

The lights went out and Malakai Black appeared, spraying mist in Cody’s face. He and Andrade beat down Cody and Arn. PAC ran out and sent the heels packing.

Dark Order came out in Halloween costumes. The Elite came out as the Ghostbusters, remixed theme song and all.

Dark Order (Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, John Silver, and Colt Cabana) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson)

My review won’t do this justice. This was ridiculous and just eminently entertaining. AEW isn’t perfect, but no wrestling in the world can match its pure fun factor.

Silver got the advantage against Cole early on and mocked his “Boom!” chant. Omega and Uno tagged in, and the Elite distracted the official, allowing things to break down and the Elite to take control. Both teams took turn mocking each other before the break.

Dark Order made a comeback upon return. Grayson hit backflipping knee strikes and reached Cabana for the hot tag. He landed a springboard moonsault press followed by a bionic elbow. The Superman pin nearly got the win but was broken up by Cole.

Cabana’s run was cut off by a superkick from Nick. Silver went on his ridiculous run of offense, concluding with a German on Nick. He ran into more superkicks, though, and Omega crushed him with a snap dragon suplex. A superkick ushigoroshi combination had its pin attempt broken up by Grayson.

Uno came in and hit the official-assisted neckbreaker. We got a parade of big moves concluded by Matt superkicking the official. Grayson wanted Nightfall, but Matt low blowed him before every member of the Dark Order took low blows of their own. The Elite crushed the Dark Order with their Ghostbusters proton packs before hitting a triple powerbomb on Cabana through the proton packs.

The other Dark Order members came out to get involved. A member was dressed as a horse and the Elite low blowed him and hit the BTE Trigger. He was unmasked as Brandon Cutler. The guy who they thought was Cutler, the marshmallow man, unmasked as Hangman Page.

Page hit the Buckshot Lariat on Matt before Grayson landed an Orihara moonsault on the pile. The Deadeye followed, then Silver hit the Spin Doctor for the win, pinning Matt.

AEW Dynamite live results: Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black III

Cody Rhodes and Malakai Black will square off for the third time in an AEW ring on tonight’s special Saturday episode of Dynamite.

Black defeated Rhodes at Dynamite Homecoming in August, then beat him again at Dynamite Grand Slam in September.

The AEW World title eliminator tournament continues with a pair of first round matches. Bryan Danielson will be in action against Dustin Rhodes in a tournament bout. Lance Archer will take on Eddie Kingston in the other first round matchup tonight. The tournament will culminate at November’s Full Gear show, with the winner receiving an AEW World Championship match.

The TBS Championship tournament will begin with a first round battle between Ruby Soho and Penelope Ford. Ford attacked Soho with a set of brass knuckles on Rampage last week to set up the bout.

Bobby Fish will take on Anthony Greene. Dan Lambert will also reveal American Top Team’s stipulations for accepting a challenge from The Inner Circle for a five-on-five match.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Show Report —

Bryan Danielson defeated Dustin Rhodes in the first round of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament

This was great!

A deathlock and then a bow-and-arrow stretch allowed Danielson to attack Dustin’s legs early on. Dustin hit the drop-down right hand but was met with a tope suicida in return. Dustin popped up and landed a flipping senton off the apron for two. Danielson cut off Dustin’s attack by targeting his legs once more. Dustin used his power advantage to regain control with a German suplex.

Danielson turned his attention to Dustin’s arm with a key lock attempt. He pinned Dustin’s hand to the mat and stomped on the exposed elbow. They fought on the top rope, where Dustin hit a superplex. They then traded right hands until Danielson ran the ropes and was cut off with the snap powerslam. The Curtain Call followed for a near fall.

Dustin landed ten punches in the corner, flipping Danielson off in the process. Danielson countered the running bulldog and stiffed Dustin with a corner dropkick before laying in hard strikes. Dustin fought out with a flying clothesline for two, but Danielson transitioned out of the cover into a LeBell Lock attempt. Dustin got his foot on the rope before it could be locked on.

Danielson laid in the Yes kicks, but Dustin fired up and they traded strikes once more. Danielson countered the drop-down right hand into a backslide for a near fall, then dropped him with an enziguiri. He laid in repeated curb stomps and looked for the Busaiku knee, but Dustin surprised him with a lariat and a straight piledriver for a good near fall.

After another exchange, Danielson flew in for the jumping guillotine. After forcing on a body scissors, Dustin collapsed and the referee stopped the match.

**********

The Elite were backstage. Next week, they will face the Dark Order. Omega addressed Hangman Page, saying he was always championship material, but Page was just cosplaying as a cowboy. Omega knows Page’s insecurities: he’s afraid of failure. If the people knew Page the way Omega knows him, they’d be chanting “coward sh*t” instead of “cowboy sh*t.”

**********

FTR and Tully Blanchard cut a promo on the Lucha Bros. They need the AEW World Tag Team Championships to cement their legacy as the top tag team of all time. They’ve been waiting for a year for their next opportunity. Penta responded, then Alex Abrahantes said “revenge is coming.”

Sting/MJF promo segment

This was also excellent. MJF is one of the only examples of legitimately entertaining “heat” in professional wrestling in 2021.

Sting was brought out by Tony Schiavone and asked about Darby Allin’s condition. Before he could speak, MJF’s music played and he interrupted. He said he wasn’t here to embarrass the Icon; he wants a gentleman’s chat. The truth is that Allin’s not coming back. He was drowned out by a “shut the f*ck up!” chant.

MJF said that he’s trying to fool the fans with his face paint and attitude, but they’re easy to fool because they’re fat and products of incest. He said that Allin’s currently in the same spot as Sting’s old friend Lex Luger: in a wheelchair. Sting decked him, but the Pinnacle ran out. While Sting was able to fight them off for a moment, Spears and Wardlow overwhelmed Sting as the former laid in chair shots.

We got a loud “Darby” chant, then an “asshole” chant. MJF addressed Allin and asked if they had broken him mentally. He demanded that Allin look at the incapacitated Sting. The fans can chant Allin’s name all they want, but he will always be second best compared to MJF. “I am the past, the present, and the future of professional wrestling.” MJF decked Sting with the Dynamite diamond ring to close the segment.

**********

Britt Baker was backstage. She addressed Tay Conti, who was confirmed as Baker’s Full Gear opponent for the women’s title. She said all Conti’s done since coming to AEW was show her ass, and she’d beat it at Full Gear.

**********

Ruby Soho defeated Penelope Ford in the TBS Championship tournament

Ford attacked before the bell. She dominated for a moment before Soho cut her off with kicks for two. Bunny skipped down to the ring to watch and took a swipe at Soho, allowing Ford to take her down ahead of the break. Once back, Soho landed a big backdrop suplex to start her comeback.

Soho countered Ford’s back-bend and they kind of got lost until Ford hit a cutter out of nowhere for two. Soho cut Ford off with a leg sweep, but Ford hit a back heel kick and a double-knee gutbuster for a near fall. Ford got a hold of the brass knuckles, but the official saw it and tossed them as Soho rolled Ford up for the win.

– After the match, Bunny and Ford cornered Soho, but Red Velvet ran out and they chased the heels out of the ring.

Soho will face Kris Statlander next in the tournament.

**********

MJF was backstage with Spears. Wardlow walked up and confronted MJF about leaving him in the ring last week. MJF complimented Wardlow on his hard work, but said he needs an “accountabili-buddy,” who is Spears.

**********

Bobby Fish defeated Anthony Greene

Fish decked Greene right away, but Greene came back with a rope-walk crossbody. Fish landed kicks and a slingshot senton for two. Fish landed more impactful offense, administered the last rites, and landed a hard buzzsaw kick for the quick win.

– After the match, Fish continued to beat down Greene. He laid in ground and pound. CM Punk ran out to make the save.

**********

Dante Martin and Lio Rush were backstage. Rush is trying to take Dante to the highest heights possible. He has already set up their first match as a tag team — they will take on the Sydals next week on Rampage.

**********

Eddie Kingston defeated Lance Archer in the first round of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament

Archer got knocked silly after landing on his head on a moonsault attempt, forcing this one to end early.

Kingston attacked during Archer’s entrance. They brawled at ringside, where Archer body-slammed a planted fan onto Kingston before chokeslamming him. They finally made it into the ring to kick off the match, and Archer continued to dominate until Kingston fought out of a Blackout attempt and locked on a dragon sleeper. Archer leveled Kingston with a lariat ahead of the commercial.

Archer continued to dominate until Kingston avoided a moonsault. Archer landed on his head on the moonsault attempt. Former WWE talent Tony Nese was shown in the crowd. Kingston rolled Archer up for three.

– Kingston will face Bryan Danielson in the next round of the tournament this Friday.

**********

Dan Lambert, Men of the Year, and Sammy Guevara promo

Dan Lambert and the Men of the Year were in the ring. Page said “the Inner Circle sucks.” He ran down each member, comparing them to themselves. He and Sky are the future of this company, not the “PR nightmare” Sammy Guevara.

Guevara came out and had had enough. “Will you please shut the hell up?” He worked hard to become TNT champion. The only person who cares about what Page has done since coming here is Page. Guevara called Lambert a “fat-faced dipsh*t,” and the fans obliged with a chant.

Lambert said he was proud of Guevara for killing it on the mic. Maybe that will put to bed all the backstage rumors about him being a bad talker. At Full Gear, they will have the ten-man tag match — if and only if Guevara puts the TNT championship on the line against Page. If Guevara loses, he has to lose the Inner Circle forever. Guevara accepted, on the condition that if he wins, the Inner Circle gets to chose the members of America’s Top Team to face.

Sky and Page walked up the ramp to fight, but the Inner Circle (sans Jericho) ran out to chase the Men of the Year away.

**********

Jon Moxley was backstage. He’s supposed to be yelling and screaming about the tournament, but he’s thinking about his daughter. When he’s with his daughter, he realizes he doesn’t care about any of this — the ratings, the championships, anything. What he cares about is getting home in one piece. For that to happen, other people have to get hurt. This is what Moxley does. His message to everybody else in this tournament: “I’ll get you before you get me.”

**********

The Dark Order was backstage. They said a single loss wouldn’t stop them. Hangman Page walked up and apologized for everything that happened after he left.

**********

Jungle Boy defeated Brandon Cutler

Jungle Boy immediately sent Cutler to the floor and landed a wild tope. Cutler wanted Panama Sunrise, but Jungle Boy countered. Cutler landed a slap and was met with slaps from Jungle Boy before being powerbombed. The Snare Trap made it elementary from there.

– After the match, Jungle Boy called that match a warmup. He’s still feeling good, and he’s ready to go again. He invited anyone from the Elite to come out here and fight. Nobody came, so Jungle Boy locked Cutler in the Snare Trap.

Adam Cole came out and called Jungle Boy an embarrassment. He suggested that he and Jungle Boy fight right here and right now. Jungle Boy decked Cole but was blindsided by superkicks from the Young Bucks. They then hit the BTE Trigger on the ramp before letting Cole hit the knee to the back of the head. Finally, they mocked the SuperKliq kiss and tossed him off the stage through a ringside table.

Cody Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson) defeated Malakai Black

This was wild and supremely entertaining.

They briefly exchanged holds before moving into strikes. Black went for a quick knee bar. Cody stood up and stomped his way out of it. Black regained control with a back elbow. Cody went for the figure four, but Black gouged at Cody’s eyes and rolled to the floor. He grabbed a chair and threw it into the ring as Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson came out to ringside. The match then went to commercial.

During the break, Cody landed a Cross Rhodes through a table at ringside. Black was busted open, as was Cody. They took a really long time to recover, minutes even. Andrade El Idolo came out as his assistant José got involved. Arn hit José with a spinebuster but took black mist from Black. PAC ran out and he and Andrade brawled to the back.

Black hit a springboard moonsault, but Cody popped up and hit Cross Rhodes for a near fall. The crowd was 100% behind Black at this point. Black climbed the ropes and landed a top-rope double stomp, a rising knee, and a German suplex bridge for a good near fall. He then hit the spinning heel kick, but Cody collapsed in the ropes.

Cody was sent to the floor, avoiding a moonsault and landing a tope suicida. Back in the ring, Cody hit the Cody Cutter and the Cross Rhodes. The Tiger Driver ’98 finished it.

Show Report —

CM Punk made his entrance to start the show and joined commentary.

Malakai Black defeated Dante Martin (w/ Lio Rush)

This was an odd match. There were spectacular moments to be sure, but Dante isn’t all the way there as a wrestler. Black either had a stinger or is a really good seller, although his selling didn’t really make sense for the story of the matach.

After a chain wrestling exchange, Dante forced Black to the floor with a dropkick but was taken down right away with a back elbow. A big moment early on was Black countering a springboard straight into a powerbomb and locking on a deep single-leg crab, forcing Dante into the ropes to break. Black showed more unorthodox offense with some tripping takedowns and continued to target Dante’s knee.

No commercial break interruption in this one. Dante’s comeback started with a reverse hurricanrana. He hit a crazy dive that wasn’t perfect where he sprung up to the top rope without pulling himself up. A nice strike exchange led to a German suplex bridge from Black for the first major near fall.

Dante landed a top-rope hurricanrana for the match’s big high spot, but he sold his knee on the impact. He hit the double jump moonsault, but it wasn’t enough to put Black away. Black immediately popped up into the single leg crab, but a midsection injury forced him to relinquish the hold. Black avoided yet another dive and hit the spinning heel kick for the win.

**********

Jurassic Express were asked about their health status. Kenny Omega and Adam Cole interrupted, but then the Young Bucks blindsided the Express with superkicks before Omega powerbombed Luchasaurus through a table.

**********

The Inner Circle Reunites

The original five all came out to “Judas” before soaking in the adulation. Santana hyped up the crowd before addressing America’s Top Team, who interrupted. Dan Lambert called the Inner Circle a “circle jerk” before admonishing the crowd for booing them.

Jericho tried to accuse Paige Van Zant of trying to “slide into his DMs.” He said there would be no more unmatched beatdowns. He wants a five-on-five tag team match. Lambert said the Men of the Year have bigger plans, and those plans involve championships. He ran down the Inner Circle one-by-one before saying he’d give Guevara his terms next week.

Sky interrupted and reminded us he has pinned Jericho twice. Guevara said he’d beat both of the Men of the Year right now.

AAA Tag Team Championships: Las Super Ranas (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/ Andrade El Idolo) defeated Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero M & Rey Fénix) (c) to win the titles

This was indescribably bad and nonsensical. What a pathetic way to treat internationally recognized championships that just had a classic match last weekend. At least the Lucha Bros hit a couple dives.

“Ranas” means “frogs” in Spanish. It was FTR in wacky lucha libre outfits. They performed a caricaturized version of lucha libre, going after the Lucha Bros’ masks. The Lucha Bros were able to unmask them before the break.

Fénix made his comeback with an assisted dive, allowing Penta to land his diving dropkick to the posterior. They then landed simultaneous dives to the outside. Wheeler tried to use the AAA belt. Penta avoided it, but was sent into the timekeeper’s table. Dax got a good rope-assisted roll-up.

Tully Blanchard ran out and distracted the official as Dax hit a belt shot and the brainbuster to win the AAA tag championships.

**********

Dante Martin and Lio Rush were backstage. Rush said that Dante failed because of his own doing. He’s trying to take Dante to new heights. From this day forward, Rush will be Dante’s new tag team partner.

**********

Schiavone caught up to FTR and Andrade celebrating backstage. MJF walked up, and Andrade handed him payment. MJF said using FTR was a “one night thing.”

**********

Jon Moxley defeated Wheeler YUTA (w/ Orange Cassidy)

Moxley went right after YUTA before the bell. He hit a release suplex, ground and pound, and the Paradigm Shift for the squash win.

– The officials and Cassidy checked on YUTA after the match.

**********

Deeb was interviewed about her victory over Hikaru Shida. She said she finally brought the AEW women’s division to her level. Shida attacked and they brawled.

**********

SuperKliq (Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson) defeated Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, & John Silver)

This was a fun trios match as expected. Jungle Boy came across like a killer in the post-match.

SuperKliq attacked before the bell and went for an assisted powerbomb on the ramp, but Silver reversed it and Reynolds took out everyone with a dive. The bell finally rang and the Dark Order kept up the attack with triple team offense. Silver had a great run of offense going before Matt cut him off with a superkick. Cole stopped a Reynolds dive with a kick before hitting an assisted ushigoroshi. SuperKliq continued to dominate through a commercial.

A double suplex allowed Silver to reach Uno for the hot tag. Uno pulled out a sock and went for a Mandible Claw, but Cole broke it up. Silver and Reynolds mocked the Bucks kissing Cole and sent him crashing onto the Bucks outside. Uno hit Something Evil for a near fall, but the Bucks broke up the pin.

The Bucks took out Uno and Silver as Cole and Reynolds were the only ones left in the ring. Reynolds rolled Cole up for a good near fall but ran into superkicks from the Bucks followed by the Panama Sunrise. The BTE Trigger and then the running knee from Cole got SuperKliq the win.

– After the match, Jungle Boy immediately ran out but was quickly dispatched by the SuperKliq. He produced a chair and cracked it across Brandon Cutler’s back as the SuperKliq fled. He then locked in the Snare Trap while spraying cold spray in Cutler’s eyes.

**********

Another Cody Rhodes/Arn Anderson vignette played. Dustin Rhodes let them into the Rhodes Wrestling Academy, where Red Velvet slapped Cody. Arn made Cody do basic drills against all five trainees at once, including Lee Johnson and Brock Anderson. KiLynn King slapped Cody and he began bleeding from the mouth. Arn motivated Cody using a memory of the past, saying “Malakai Black has it coming.”

**********

MJF promo

MJF came out and mocked the crowd using Spanish. He came out in his ring gear and introduced himself as if he was about to wrestle a match against Darby Allin, but Allin wasn’t cleared after the Pinnacle’s attack last week. He played coy about the attack before bringing out Wardlow, who had referee Bryce Remsburg in tow. MJF demanded that Remsburg count to ten to force a forfeit.

Remsburg counted, but before he could get to ten, Sting made his entrance, bat in hand. MJF threw Wardlow in the way and Sting hit Wardlow with the bat. Sting dropped the bat and wanted a fight, but MJF stormed off.

**********

Anna Jay was asked about the Dark Order’s loss but was immediately interrupted by Britt Baker, who called them losers. Jay’s a loser and a follower herself. Jay punched her and they had to be broken up by officials.

**********

Penelope Ford defeataed Kiera Hogan

This was a bit of a struggle, although both showed flashes.

They got lost immediately, but Ford was able to recover with a quick hip toss. The match went to commercial early on with Ford firmly in control. They fought on the top rope upon return, leading to a Hogan superplex. Hogan made a comeback with clotheslines and a running dropkick for two. Ford hit a handspring cutter and then applied the Muta lock for the submission.

– Ruby Soho immediately ran out and attacked. Bunny ran out and saved Ford. Soho wanted to keep fighting, but Ford and Bunny retreated.

**********

Miro’s faith was being tested after losing the TNT Championship. “Why have you forsaken me?” He’s done pleading. Everyone else will know pain until he becomes God’s favorite champion once again.

**********

Hangman Page promo

Awesome, simple, pure babyface promo from AEW’s top star.

Hangman Page was brought out for an interview with Tony Schiavone. He said he was excited for Full Gear. The original vision of AEW was to change the world, but it feels like the world changed him. He failed to be the first AEW world champion and went on a losing streak, losing his confidence and friends along the way. The one thing that brought him back was people chanting “Cowboy sh*t.”

“Cowboy sh*t,” to Page, meant lots of things, including going back home to be there for the birth of a beautiful baby boy. When you fall off the horse, you get back up and keep going. He knows the fans still believe in him, and for the first time in his life, he does too. At Full Gear, Page will give us everything, his blood, sweat, and tears, and “cowboy sh*t.”

Bryan Danielson defeated Bobby Fish

This was a really fun battle of two wrestlers with similar styles.

Fish took control with kicks early on, but Danielson maneuvered out of a cover and tried to pick Fish apart. Danielson used evasive movement on his corner backflip but was cut off with another kick from Fish. Danielson sent Fish to the floor and landed a tope suicida. Fish kicked out Danielson’s legs on the apron and regained control through the break.

Once back, Fish continued with his MMA-styled offense. A sliding lariat got two. Danielson started his comeback by countering a crab into an ankle lock and then a German suplex. He laid in kicks and multiple dragon screw leg whips, turning the target of his attack to Fish’s knee. Fish caught a kick and hit a sick backdrop driver for two.

Fish landed an avalanche falcon arrow and immediately locked on a knee bar. Danielson transitioned into a 50/50 position with simultaneous heel kicks and knee bars. Danielson won the exchange and locked on a heel hook for the submission.

First-round matches for the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament:

  • Jon Moxley vs. 10
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Powerhouse Hobbs (Rampage next week)
  • Bryan Danielson vs. Dustin Rhodes (Dynamite next week)
  • Eddie Kingston vs. Lance Archer (Dynamite next week)

(That’s a mildly disappointing bracket. AEW an insanely stacked roster, but some of these names are either not portrayed as world title contenders or have challenged for the championship already. 10’s inclusion in particular sticks out; unless the plan is to just squash him, I don’t know why you don’t go with someone else in the Dark Order or on the roster in general.)

AEW Dynamite live results: Second anniversary show

AEW Dynamite celebrates its second anniversary tonight in Philadelphia.

Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus will face AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Adam Cole in an eight-man tag team contest. Cole beat Jungle Boy on last week’s Dynamite, while Danielson defeated Nick Jackson on last week’s Rampage.

A casino ladder match for a future AEW World title shot will take place. Jon Moxley, PAC, Andrade El Idolo, Orange Cassidy, Matt Hardy and a mystery participant will compete for the future title opportunity.

New TNT Champion Sammy Guevara will look to make his first defense of the title. He takes on NXT and ROH veteran Bobby Fish, who will make his AEW debut. Guevara defeated Miro for the TNT title on last week’s Dynamite.

In the women’s division, Hikaru Shida will face Serena Deeb. Shida will be going for her 50th career AEW win.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The Super Elite (Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson) defeated Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage, & Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus)

This was an absolutely stellar wrestling match. Pretty much as good as TV spotfests can get.

Jungle Boy and Nick had a pretty thrilling exchange to start things off. Cole tagged in but was chopped in the corner by Jungle Boy. Christian made a quick tag in and out to Jungle Boy before re-entering with his drop-down right hand. He went for an early Killswitch but instead opted to hit the reverse DDT, following it up with a flapjack on Matt. An attack from Nick on the apron allowed the Elite to isolate Jungle Boy, leading to Omega’s first action of the match.

The Young Bucks went for a double team on Jungle Boy, but he fought them both off with his backflip arm drag. Danielson tagged in for the first time and laid in the Yes kicks on Matt. He tagged in Luchasaurus, who flattened Matt with a frying pan chop. Matt was isolated in the ring and attacked by all four babyfaces, and a double team from Jurassic Express got two. With the official distracted, Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler attacked Christian on the outside. The Young Bucks used the interference to hit an Indytaker on the ramp.

Officials checked on Christian on the ramp as the match moved forward as a four-on-three handicap match. The Super Elite beat down Jungle Boy with repeated tags. Jungle Boy fought back with a brainbuster and the comeback lariat. It looked like he was about to reach a hot tag, but Nakazawa got involved again. Jungle Boy finally fought off both Bucks with a double DDT, reaching Danielson for the hot tag.

Danielson and Omega tagged in. They squared off in the center of the ring, trading forearm shots. Danielson took control with a running clothesline and the corner dropkick. He laid in Yes kicks and propped Omega on the top rope, hitting a top-rope hurricanrana. Danielson landed the diving headbutt, but the Bucks broke up the pin.

Luchasaurus took out both Bucks. We got a parade of big moves concluded by Danielson hitting a tiger suplex bridge for a near fall. He locked on Cattle Mutilation, but Nick broke it up with a senton bomb. Luchasaurus manhandled the Super Elite, fighting them all off until he ate a superkick from Cole. Luchasaurus countered the Panama Sunrise and chokeslammed Cole onto Omega. He then hit the Tail Whip on Nick, a roundhouse on Matt, and a moonsault on Cole and Omega on the floor. Jungle Boy landed a hurricanrana that sent Nick to the floor, but then Omega cut off a Danielson dive and hit the Terminator tope.

Cole feinted on a dive and called for “Adam Cole, baby!” He turned around into a chokeslam and moonsault from Luchasaurus for two. Jurassic Express wanted their finisher, but a distraction allowed the Super Elite to land a low blow on Luchasaurus. They botched some kind of powerbomb attempt, then Jungle Boy got involved and was killed by a snap dragon suplex and the Panama Sunrise. Danielson broke up the pin.

Danielson fought off everyone and was the lone man standing. He laid in Yes kicks, but Omega caught the buzzsaw and Danielson ate three superkicks. The Super Elite hit a four-way BTE Trigger on Jungle Boy to win.

**********

Jon Moxley was backstage. He said he’s lost patience for anything that takes patience. There is no man in AEW who can pin or submit him, so now we have to try a ladder match. “I have a three-month-old at home, and she’s insane!” AEW is his company, and that’s his belt.

**********

CM Punk promo

Deafening “CM Punk!” chants to start as always. Punk started by thanking the fans. He actually lived in Philadelphia for three years. While here, he ate, breathed, and slept pro wrestling. Philly gave him so much: because of the money he made, he bought an iPod and a computer. But he wasn’t rich because of the money; he was spiritually rich, immersing himself in this community.

He gave the crowd a choice: should he wrestle for them tonight, or buy everyone cheesesteaks? They of course wanted to see him wrestle. Punk called out Daniel Garcia for this week’s Rampage.

**********

Arn Anderson talked about splitting up from Cody Rhodes. He started a fire in Cody’s backyard, dumping a suit in it, and Cody came down to confront him. Arn demanded that Cody give him his tie. Cody didn’t want him to throw it away, so Arn slapped him. Cody threw the tie in the fire himself.

**********

A video package introduced Bobby Fish to AEW. He was shown training in an MMA cage and said Sammy Guevara would be the shortest-reigning TNT Champion in history.

Guevara was shown giving a new truck to Fuego Del Sol. Sol wished him luck, and Guevara said he’d beat Fish right now.

TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara (c) defeated Bobby Fish

This was a strong if somewhat brief title match. Fish’s offense looked really good.

They traded big strikes right away. Fish went for a high roundhouse kick, which looks to be his finish, but Guevara grabbed the ropes to counter. Guevara hit a dropkick and a gamenguiri, but Fish kicked out his legs on a springboard attempt, sending Guevara crashing to the mat. They established Fish’s combat sports background with hard strikes ahead of a commercial.

Once back, Fish went for a slingshot senton, but Guevara countered by getting his knees up. He took Fish down with a back elbow and a clothesline. Fish countered another springboard but was met with a jumping knee. Fish hit a high kick and a backdrop driver for two. A standing Spanish Fly bought Guevara a moment of reprieve.

Guevara climbed the ropes and looked for the 630, but Fish popped up and kicked Guevara down. Fish landed an avalanche falcon arrow for a near fall. He then hit a corner exploder for another near fall. Guevara avoided a buzzsaw kick and hit the GTH out of nowhere for the win.

– Immediately once the bell rang, the Men of the Year and America’s Top Team swarmed the ring. They surrounded Guevara. Paige Van Zant distracted Guevara, allowing Scorpio Sky to land a cheap shot. Junior Dos Santos laid in ground and pound. Fuego Del Sol ran out but was immediately taken down and beaten.

Chris Jericho’s music played and he ran out with Jake Hager. Jericho sent Dos Santos packing as they were left standing in the ring. The fans sung the rest of “Judas” as Dan Lambert implored them to stop. Lambert said Jorge Masvidal was the king of Miami, which is where AEW is headed next week. He wanted a match: Inner Circle vs. Men of the Year and Junior Dos Santos.

Jericho said they would beat the living sh*t out of Lambert and his dipsh*t team.

**********

The Acclaimed were backstage. Max Caster rapped badly about the Lucha Bros. They have a tag title match this Friday on Rampage.

TBS Championship announcement

Schiavone was in the ring with Aubrey Edwards. They revealed the TBS Championship, a TNT Championship equivalent for the AEW women’s division. The winner will be crowned via tournament. Aubrey unveiled the belt. Looks nice!

**********

Darby Allin sat down with Jim Ross. JR was uncomfortable with what happened last week between Allin and MJF. Allin wanted to elaborate on why he paints his face. MJF talked about his experience with his uncle that was referenced last week. He paints half his face because 50% of him feels dead inside. His respect and trust for people is low. Allin faced death that day, but he’s still here. MJF can say whatever he wants, but Allin’s going to win this war. He’s never met somebody like Darby Allin.

Darby Allin (w/ Sting) defeated Nick Comoroto (w/ Aaron Solo)

Allin landed a dive on Comoroto and Solo right away. In the ring, he hit a short Coffin Drop and went for the up-and-over stunner. Comoroto turned it into a powerslam ahead of a break. Once back, Allin flipped out of a suplex and hit the stunner. He landed a Coffin Drop to Comoroto’s back for the win.

– After the match, QT Marshall hit a Diamond Cutter on Sting. Sting immediately popped up, kicked QT low, and hit the Scorpion Death Drop.

**********

The Dark Order were backstage. Evil Uno admitted he had made some mistakes, and he said it was up to everyone else to make decisions. Alex Reynolds suggested they all vote on things. They started bickering about stuff again, so Anna Jay got them all on the same page.

**********

Dante Martin was in the ring with Schiavone. He said that for the last couple months, he’s been a problem for AEW. He issued a challenge for the AEW locker room, saying he’d fight anyone. The lights went out and Malakai Black appeared in the ring. He shot black mist in Dante’s face, hit the spinning heel kick, and the lights went out again. When they came back on, Black was alone in the ring. Black grabbed a mic and said “The House of Black accepts.”

**********

Ricky Starks was in the ring with his FTW Championship. He said this was the same FTW title that was built in South Philadelphia. He’s champion because he has the same mindset that Taz had. Starks was going to challenge Cage to a Philly Street Fight, but it wasn’t going to happen.

Cage’s music played and he ran out and attacked Starks. Powerhouse Hobbs and HOOK ran out to pull Starks out of the ring for the save.

**********

Various roster members including Thunder Rosa, Skye Blue, Ruby Soho, and Jade Cargill talked about the TBS Championship. Cargill said she’d win the tournament.

**********

If Shida wins, it would be her 50th victory in AEW. They have a little trophy and everything.

Serena Deeb defeated Hikaru Shida

They performed chain wrestling to start. They wrestled to a stalemate. Shida wanted a handshake, but Deeb slapped her. Shida attacked in the corner before hitting the running knee lift over the ring apron. Shida wanted her chair attack, but Deeb just popped up and folded the chair back up. Deeb caught Shida upon re-entry to the ring and hit a neckbreaker over the ropes before the show suddenly cut to commercial.

Upon return, Shida used a front facelock grip to achieve an airplane spin. She followed it up with a missile dropkick for two. Deeb countered into an octopus hold and went for the Deeb-tox, but Shida fought out. Deeb locked on a Gedo Clutch for a good near fall, but Shida came back with a big knee strike to the face.

Deeb chopped out Shida’s knee and hit a dragon screw over the ropes. She followed it with a swinging neckbreaker for two. Shida came back with another knee strike, avoided a chop block, and hit an inverted powerslam for two. A running elbow was next followed by the Falcon Arrow for a good near fall.

Shida laid in repeated knees. Deeb caught one and raked Shida’s eyes, following it with an inverted dragon screw. Deeb then hit the Deeb-tox for a near fall. She locked on the Serenity Lock and forced Shida to tap out.

– After the match, Deeb grabbed the 50 victories trophy and broke it over Shida’s head.

**********

Darby Allin was informed that MJF challenged him to a match next week. Allin accepted. The Pinnacle limousine rolled up and Allin prepared for a fight, but he was blindsided by a chair shot from Shawn Spears. The Pinnacle were all dressed in dark gear. They lawn-darted Allin into a couple railings before Wardlow dropped Allin over them with an F10 in a just brutal bump. MJF choked Allin with his skateboard.

Britt Baker, Rebel, and Jamie Hayter were interviewed by Schiavone about the TBS Championship. Baker was excited because now everyone can stop obsessing over her position at the top. She’ll be watching the tournament.

The winner of this match becomes the #1 contender to the AEW World Championship. Two entrants start, and entrants join the match every two minutes. The poker chip can be grabbed at any time.

Hangman Page won the Casino Ladder Match to become the #1 Contender to the AEW World Championship

This was probably the second-best ladder match in AEW history after the Escalera de la Muerte match.

The participants were Jon Moxley, Lance Archer, PAC, Andrade El Idolo, Orange Cassidy, Matt Hardy, and a returning Hangman Page.

Orange Cassidy and PAC were the first two. PAC immediately overpowered Orange with amateur wrestling. He wouldn’t play along with Orange’s hijinks. Orange rolled to the floor and tried to bait PAC back into the ring, but PAC crushed him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. PAC then brought a ladder into the ring. He blocked a tornado DDT from Orange and flattened him with a brainbuster.

Andrade El Idolo was third. He immediately tried to bring in a ladder, but PAC dropkicked the ladder into Andrade’s face. PAC set up a ladder and climbed, but Andrade springboarded onto it and met PAC at the top. Andrade then hit a sunset flip powerbomb over the ladder onto the canvas. Orange re-entered the fray and hit his hands-in-pocket kicks. Andrade starched him with a right hand for his trouble.

Matt Hardy was fourth. Orange went for the Orange Punch, but Hardy then hit the Side Effect ahead of a commercial. During the break, Lance Archer made his entrance and just killed everyone. I really wish that had been on the full broadcast, it was pretty great.

Once back, Archer set up a ladder. As he did so, Jon Moxley entered the match. Archer met him halfway in the crowd. Moxley tossed a chair at Archer and brought the fight back to the ring. Archer returned fire with a chair toss of his own. Orange hit two Orange Punches on Archer in the ring, but Moxley stopped him from climbing the ladder. Moxley dropkicked the ladder into Archer.

Hangman Page returned from a three-month absence as the Joker in the match. He and Moxley traded forearms as a massive “cowboy sh*t” chant broke out. Page caught a dive from Cassidy and slammed him into a ladder. He landed a plancha on Hardy on the floor. PAC finally stopped Page’s rampage and set up another ladder and then a table.

PAC rolled Page onto the table and climbed the ladder. Andrade got involved and he and PAC fought. PAC headbutted Andrade off the ladder onto a ladder bridge. Page popped up and met PAC on top of the ladder, hitting just an insanely ridiculous Deadeye from the top of the ladder through a table.

Moxley surprised Page with a Paradigm Shift. He and Orange climbed the ladder, but Hardy came in to push them both down. Hardy rolled Orange onto a ladder and hit a leg drop through Orange to the floor. Archer took out Moxley and re-adjusted the ladder but was immediately leveled by a Buckshot Lariat from Page. Moxley stopped Page’s ascent with a chair shot. He reached for the top, but Page laid in right hands and Moxley collapsed to the mat.

Page climbed the last few rungs and pulled down the poker chip to win the match and the #1 contendership.
