Three new matches added to AEW Collision

New matches are set for Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Jon Moxley will be wrestling on the card where he’ll team with PAC to take on The Infantry. Another Death Rider member, Daniel Garcia, will challenge new International Champion Konosuke Takeshita on the same show.

“Two dangerous teams will fight for the win, when The Infantry collide vs Death Riders, PAC + Continental Champion Jon Moxley on Saturday Collision, TOMORROW!,” Tony Khan wrote when announcing the match on social media.

Elsewhere, The Dogs will be taking on The Gunns, who recently made their AEW return. The Dogs made headlines on Wednesday after they jumped new AEW Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland & Christian Cage, who were about to bring back the long-dormant five second pose they were known for in WWE.

“After Colten was out 9 months, The Gunns won their comeback bout vs Dogs/Death Riders! After jumping the champs Cope & Cage, The Dogs collide vs Gunns TOMORROW!,” Khan wrote.

It was also announced that Lee Moriarty will be in action. He successfully defended the ROH Pure Championship at Supercard of Honor, defeating Ace Austin.

Three title matches part of ROH Supercard of Honor additions

AEW National Champion Mark Davis will continue his busy schedule at Friday’s Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor streaming special — one of three championship matches added Thursday.

Davis will defend the title against CMLL’s Xelhua who will be making his fifth ROH appearance and his first since late-January in a trios bout. This will be the first time they have shared the ring.

Davis defeated Jack Perry for the title last Saturday at AEW Fairway to Hell and was added to Team Ricochet for the Stadium Stampede match taking place at next Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing. He’s had a slew of matches in ROH since 2023 and has won his last six singles matches there.

Also added to the show is an ROH Pure title defense as Lee Moriarty puts the title up against Ace Austin who is coming off a loss to Will Ospreay Wednesday. Moriarty has held the title for 658 days with 15 successful title defenses.

After finally breaking through and defeating Nick Wayne for the ROH TV title Thursday, AR Fox will put the title on the line against Lio Rush who called his shot directly afterward.

In another development, Zayda Steel defeated Hyan to earn the final spot in the Survival of the Fittest match for Athena’s ROH Women’s World title.

As of this writing, the Zero Hour pre-show matches have yet to be announced.

Lee Moriarty felt ‘weird’ about breaking Nigel McGuinness ROH record

Despite being the longest-reigning champion in the title’s history, Lee Moriarty doesn’t consider himself the greatest ROH Pure Champion of all time.

Moriarty has now been ROH Pure Champion for more than 580 days. He blew past the previous record in 2025 when he surpassed Nigel McGuinness’ 350-day reign with the belt. Breaking that record was a “weird” feeling for Moriarty, who holds McGuinness in very high esteem.

“It’s one of those things where it means a lot, but I also kind of feel weird about it because of the respect I have for the people that came before me with the title,” Moriarty said on AEW Unrestricted. “So I always feel weird about breaking other records because I hold them in such high reverence.

“Yeah, I’ve held the title for so long and I’ve defended it, I think, 12 times now. And that’s really cool. Personally, I still consider Nigel to be the greatest Pure Champion of all time because while he’s held it in 350 days, he defended it 17 times. He was the first person to defend it internationally. There’s all these other great things that I’m trying to live up to that and still elevate it, even though I’ve already been breaking records myself where I’ve defended it in Australia and Mexico for the first time and breaking the record with the time.”

Moriarty and McGuiness faced off for the title at ROH Final Battle 2025 with Moriarty getting the victory. That was a special moment for Moriarty, and he considers it one of the top 5-10 highlights of his career so far.

“Hella thank yous,” Moriarty responded when asked what their conversation was like after the match. “Just like… in disbelief and shock.”

The ROH Pure Championship was established in 2004 with a ruleset geared toward technical wrestling. A women’s version of the belt was introduced recently with Deonna Purrazzo becoming the inaugural champion.

Moriarty told AEW Unrestricted that Samoa Joe and Kosei Fujita are two dream opponents he’d love to defend the Pure title against. His biggest ambition in wrestling is to leave the industry better than he found it, and Moriarty’s goal for his title reign is to help advance the cause of pure wrestling.

ROH television is entering a new era with standalone tapings held at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida. Moriarty had a title defense on the first taping. Spoilers can be found here.

**********

On the 13th day of Christmas, My true love gave to me:

13 Lios rushing, 12 Frathouses boozing, 11 Orders darkening, 10 Swirls swirling, 9 Doom’s Booming, 8 Tag Teams fighting, 7 Komanders a-leaping, 6 Shibata’s wrestling, 5 Eddie Kingston fights! 4 Shirakawas, 3 Premiere Athletes, 2 Grizzled Vets and a Pure Title Match with Lee Moriarty!

Eddie Kingston vs. James Drake (w/Zack Gibson)

Gibson was on the mic as the Vets entered, running down New York City (the show was from the Hammerstein). He referred to the city as a “post-apocalyptic third world country.” So clearly, these are the good guys. Fortunately, NYC’s own Eddie Kingston arrived and the fight was on.

Kingston jumped Gibson from behind with a chair and then laid out Drake. The ref grabbed the chair and Drake kicked Kingston into the corner where he and Gibson beat him down. Kingston got back up though and the bell rang officially starting the match.

Drake had the upper hand thanks to the previously mentioned jumping and threw everything he had a Kingston, knocking him from pillar to post. Kingston started giving as good as he was getting, dropping the straps and chopping Drake into next week.

Kingston got a sleeper on, but Gibson got involved to break it up. Drake raked Kingston’s eye, but that didn’t stop the Mad King who started throwing lariats with everything he had. The Maching Gun Chops rained down on Drake and Kingston managed to get a neckbreaker in.

Drake tried to steal one with a rollup, but Kingston wasn’t fooled. Drake hit a dropkick on Kingston, further working his neck in the corner. Kingston popped back in with an exploder and a DDT to get the pin.

Match Result: Eddie Kingston defeated James Drake

Gibson immediately jumped into the ring and he and Drake tried to take down Kingston. Gibson choked him with his scarf (*now available at AEW Shop) while Drake leapt from the top rope and crushed Kingston with a guillotine.

Mixed Six Person Tag Team Match: The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari, Stori Denali & Tony Nese) (w/Mark Sterling) vs. Ashley Vox, Jon Cruz & VSK

Off the top, Santa Claus was in the ring with announcer Bobby Cruz, but the Atheletes marched to the ring and made him say “Athletes…?” to which he responded “Suck!” So Stori Denai chokeslammed him. I’m pretty sure that makes them the bad guys, but who’s to day?

Nese and VSK started things off with Nese using his strength to keep VSK guessing. Nese sent him to the Athletes corner and tagged in Daivari. VSK ate a backdrop, but it gave him a chance to get a tag to Cruz.

Cruz and Daivari fought for a bit before Denali was tagged in. She threw Cruz to his teams corner and demanded Vox get in the ring. Vox tried as hard as she could but Denali just picked her up and threw her at the ground. Denali was about to chokeslam her, but Cruz got in and took a bounce off the ropes. Daivari grabbed his ankle though and Nese was back in only to tag Daivari again.

Vox jumped in a superkicked Daivari, which brought Denali back in for that chokeslam on Vox that ended the match.

Match Result: The Premier Athletes defeated Ashley Vox, Jon Cruz & VSK

-Backstage, Lexi Nair interviewed Komander about his Pure Title match against Lee Moriarty. It was all in Spanish unfortunately, so I have no idea what he said, but I assume it was something along the lines of “I’m going to win.”

Mina Shirakawa vs. Rebecca Scott

Shirakawa is the former Interim ROH Women’s Television Champion and absolutely adorable. Scott is also adorable, but hasn’t been an interim anything. Yet.

The two tied up and Shirakawa took control right away with her feet and fists. She picked up Scott and dropped her back to the ring. She tried to grapevine the legs, but Scott rolled her up for a two count. Shirikawa jumped right back up with a sling blade.

Shirakawa leapt from the top with another sling blade from that top turnbuckle. Scott kicked out at two though.

Scott caught a kick from Shirakawa but went off the ropes and right into Shirakawa’s right hand. Shirakawa put Scott in the figure four in the center of the ring and Scott was forced to tap out.

Match Result: Mina Shirakawa defeated Rebecca Scott

-Backstage, Jay Lethal had a conversation with ROH World Champion Bandido. Lethal brought up that both he and Bandido have had issues with the Swirl (the tag team). He suggested that they team against them next week. Bandido was all for it and the match was on for next week!

The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) vs. Alec Price & Jordan Oliver

Price and Oliver actually got an entrance with music and everything, so they must be doing something right! The Swirl swirled their way out in matching blue gear, still oblivious to how terrible their team name is.

The “middle-finger-of-honor” was adhered to and the bell rand with Christian immediately rolling Price up for a two count. They sped around the ring with Christian pausing only to strut to taunt jay Lethal.

Price pulled down the top rope sending Christian out, but Johnson was right there. Oliver tagged in and the two double teamed Johnson for a few minutes, actually gaining some momentum. Johnson dodged a charge in the corner and got the tag to Christian.

Christian and Johnson sent Oliver and Price to the outside and delivered their signature dives to them. The Swirl then started mugging for the camera before Christian brought Oliver back in to the ring so he could plant his knees in his back.

Christian snapmared Oliver into a headlock and taunted Bandido with some finger guns. Christian knocked Price off the apron and went back to Oliver, who countered a running start into a sidewalk slam. A diving tag brought in Price and a more subtle tag brought in Johnson.

Price dropkicked Christian and then hit a double springboard sling blade on Johnson. Johnson then turned him inside out with a lariat. Oliver tried to help, but Christian hit him with a springboard which allowed price to crush Christian with a DDT.

Oliver and Price hit a super brainbuster from the top rope, but Johnson broke up the pin before they could get Christian. That woke everyone up and Christian hit a springboard 450 on Oliver and then a Lethal Injection/Brain Buster combo with Johnson to pin Oliver and get the win.

Match Result: The Swirl defeat Alec Price & Jordan Oliver

Zack Gibson (w/James Drake) vs. Bryce Donovan

After the earlier beatdown of Eddie Kingston, the Vets came back to the ring for Gibson’s match against Donovan, saying virtually the same things about NYC that Gibson said the first time. Gibson demanded that everyone in the crowd and in the back put some respect on the GYV name. No word on if they did.

Donovan put his hair up which probably enraged Gibson, who wrestled him right down to the mat. Gibson threw Donovan into the corner and splashed him, pulling him back to the center for a suplex. Donovan woke up and hit a scoop slam and big elbow.

Donovan carried on with a European Uppercut and went up top, but Gibson pulled him down by the ankle. Gibson tossed Donovan over the top rope where Drake was waiting to talk trash to him. Donovan climbed back into the ring and Gibson threw his head at the turnbuckle, repeatedly.

Gibson kicked Donovan in the face and started throwing elbows and forearms, picking Donovan apart. Gibson put a headlock on, but Donovan was able to get to his feet. Gibson put his knee into is kidney, but Donovan threw a lariat and picked him up on his shoulders. Gibson wiggled off and Donovan hit a Boss Man Slam, but only got a two count.

Gibson sidestepped an attack in the corner and hit a front-facing codebreaker. He threw a lariat to take Donovan’s head off, and that was it. Gibson made the pin and got the victory.

Match Result: Zack Gibson defeated Bryce Donovan

-Backstage, Dalton Castle and the Outrunners were interviewed. Before they could get much out though they were attacked by a very Grinchy-looking MxMxTV who challenged them to a trios match next week that would be a Fight Without Honor!

Boom And Doom (Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall) (w/ Aaron Solo & Big Justice) vs. The Frat House (Cole Karter & Griff Garrison) (w/ Jacked Jameson & Preston Vance)

On the way down to the ring, Vance attacked one of the pledges to show how… cool? he is? I guess? Anyway, they posed and did their thing. The audience was way behind Boom and Doom though, cheering as they boomed their way to the ring, saying hi to literally everyone in the crowd.

Marshall started off against Karter while everyone yelled at each other around the ring. Karter got cocky with Marshall who slapped the taste out of his mouth. Karter popped back up and directed Marshall to the Frat House corner for a double team with Garrison.

Marshall tagged in AJ and whipped him into Garrison in the corner. AJ then hit a big slam, but could only get a two-count. AJ started throwing punches in the corner, but Garrison responded with an uppercut. He stomped AJ, preventing him from making a tag.

Karter tagged in to take over the stomping and switched things up with some punching. He threw hands at AJ’s midsection before tagging in Garrison who brought some fists of his own. Jameson grabbed AJ and choked him on the ropes while the Ref was distracted.

The Frat House hit a double suplex on AJ but could only get a two count. AJ Reversed a lariat into a belly-to-belly suplex and got the tag to Marshall who cleared the ring and sent Garrison out with a backspring kick.

Marshall threw Karter out too and dove onto the whole Frat House, taking them out. He dragged Garrison back into the ring, but Vance got up on the apron to cause a distraction. That let Garrison dropkick Marshall out of the ring, but Solo and Justice were there to save him.

Garrision dragged Marshall back into the ring and worked his elbow. Karter tagged in and threw strikes in the corner. He dropkicked Marshall and bounced his head off the turnbuckle. Garrison tagged in and threw Marshall to the corner. Garrison leapt, but Marshall moved and Garrison hit the ring post.

Marshall crawled to his corner to make a tag, but Karter pulled AJ off the apron, preventing the tag. Garrison sent Marshall out, where Vance and Jameson tried to hit him with a chair, but Justice got in the way and Solo took the chair. They all yelled at each other and the confused Ref threw Solo and Justice out of the ringside area.

While all that was happening, Vance tried the chair thing again but this time got caught by the ref, who threw him and Jameson out too!

Back in the ring, Marshall caught Garrison with a flatliner and got the hot tag to AJ. Aj threw some Booms and then hit a big slam on both Garrison and Karter. He switched it up and hit them both with Full Nelson Slams. Garrision ate a cookie cutter from Marshall.

AJ got Karter with a powerbomb then tagged in Marshall. AJ and Marshall hit a super blockbuster from the top rope and pinned Garrison for the win.

Match Result: Boom And Doom defeated The Frat House

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Lio Rush

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love Lio Rush. I also love Shibata for personifying my N64 NWO World Tour make-a-wrestler, also named, “The Wrestler” (His moveset was all armbars).

Shibata showed some arrogance off the top, which is hard to do when Rush is in the ring. The two locked up Greco-Roman style with Shibata winning the test of strength and just missing Rush with a superkick.

Rush changed mometum on a couple of whips, looking for some Liger Rolling Heels but Shibata caught him and rolled him onto his back for a face stomp. Shibata took Rush out on the ring apron (the wrestlerest part of the ring!) where he suplexed him. He then hit one more on the outside for good measure.

Shibata threw Rush into the barricades before tossing him back into the ring. He clubbed Rush across the back and laid him our with some palm strikes. Shitbata turned his attention to Rush’s shoulder before throwing some big chops, sending Rush staggering.

Rush got his second wind though, taking Shibata out at the knees then hitting the Liger Heels before a big suicide dive onto Shibata on the outside. Rush went up top once he got Shibata back into the ring, but Shibata got his knees up and delivered a cannonball into Rush in the corner.

Rush fought back again hitting a suprise cutter, but only getting a two count. Rush went up top again, but Shibata was able to kick him and then suplex him off the top turnbuckle. Shibata then, seemingly for no reason at all, grabbed a handful of tights and hit a low blow into an arm bar. The ref shrugged and gave him the match.

Match Result: Katsuyori Shibata defeated Lio Rush

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty defends against Komander

And then, just like that, it was main event time! Komander earned this match by going the distance in a Proving Ground match. Moriarty earned it because he’s the champion and he has to.

The 60-minute timer began and the two locked up. They traded wristlocks and a cocky Moriarty started doing squats to break out of the hold. Moriarty put on a headlock and transitioned to an armbar. He got an early Border City Stretch on, forcing Komander to use his first rope break 90 seconds into the match.

Moriarty worked Komander to the mat, but he popped right back up. Moriarty wristlocked him back ro the mat, but prevented the rope break. Komander leapt up onto Moriarty’s shoulders, but Moriarty kept the lock on. Komander managed to break it with a gator roll, but Moriarty caught him with a paintbrish and put Komander in a waistlock.

Komander ran up the turnbuckles and leapt backwards over Moriarty, but Moriarty had it scouted and cut him off, dropping him to the mat. Moriarty put some knees in Komander’s gut and Komander started clutching his knee.

Moriarty gutwrenched Komander to the mat and wrapped him up in a pretzel hold. For added measure, Moriarty clawed Komander’s ribs. Komander got out of it, but Moriarty was right there to work him into an octopus stretch.

Komander forced himself out of it with a hip toss and threw hands at Moriarty. He hit a hurricanrana, but Moriarty turned it into an STF, forcing Komander to use his second rope break at 52:08.

Moriarty kept control though, working Komander into the corner for some strikes. Komander dodged a charge though and took the opening to hit a big DDT, planting Moriarty on his head.

Komander went for a suplex, but Moriarty blocked it and punched him, earning his warning for a closed fist. Komander walked into a back elbow, but kicked his way to the top rope and hit a walking crossbody on Moriarty.

Moriarty caught Komander in a flapjack near the ropes, forcing Komander to use his final rope break to break up the pin. Moriarty dragged him into a Border City Stretch and Komander tried to get a rope break, but had just exhausted them.

Komander hit a Spanish Fly followed by a thrust kick, sending Moriarty to the outside. Komander hit a spingboard moonsault onto Moriarty over the top rope. The clock ticked as Moriarty crawled towards the ring. Komander helped him in and hit a poisonrana. Moriarty kicked out at two.

Komander went for a cross arm breaker and Moriarty dragged them to the ropes, using his first break at 46:14. Komander hit a running thrust kick and went up top. He went for his running moonsault, but Moriarty got the knees up. He put Komander into a Gory Special around the ropes and Komander had to tap out at 45:23.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty defeated Komander

After the match, respect was shown as the two shook hands in the ring.

Iron Man match added to Ring of Honor Final Battle

With Komander being moved into a six-way Survival of the Fittest match for the Ring of Honor World title at next Friday’s Final Battle, there was an opening for a new challenger for Pure Champion Lee Moriarty.

Enter former ROH star and current AEW broadcaster Nigel McGuinness.

During Friday’s ROH broadcast, McGuinness appeared during a pre-taped promo, putting over Moriarty for defeating him once before while pointing out he defeated him as part of a four-way so he considers them 1-1. He admitted he doesn’t know how many matches he has left, but wanted one of them to be with Moriarty to settle the score.

He then challenged Moriarty to a 30-minute Iron Man match next Friday which was later made official. The Pure title will not be on the line.

The two first squared off at last year’s Final Battle where Moriarty successfully defended the gold. The aforementioned four-way was an IWGP World title eliminator for this past August’s Forbidden Door which included McGuinness, Moriarty, Daniel Garcia and Hechicero.

This week’s ROH on Honorclub is jam-packed with action like a jam-making factory getting it’s orders out! Bandido and Mascara Dorada went to war over the ROH World Title on Collison last week and the highlights opened up this week’s show.

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match: Shane Taylor Promotions (Carlie Bravo, Shane Taylor & Shawn Dean) (w/Anthony Ogogo) (c) vs BEEF & The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Shane Taylor Promotions are all over this week’s episode of Ring of Honor, but they are starting by defending their ROH World Six Man Titles against The Workhorsemen and second cousin BEEF.

Henry and Bravo kicked off the match with a fast collar and elbow exchange ending with Bravo workign the arm of Henry. Henry flipped it into an armdrag of his own and sent Bravo intot he Workhorsemen’s corner to get a tag from Drake.

Drake flipped over the rope to squash Bravo and then the two started throwing chops. BEEF tagged in and threw hands at Bravo, but Bravo pulled the ref into the line of fire so Dean could pull Beef to the ring apron. Taylor dropped a leg on him for good measure.

Somehow, that made Taylor legal and he threw headbutts at BEEF, sending him into the STP corner for some open handed chops. BEEF tried to fight out of it, but the numbers game overtook him. Taylor started throwing Bravo at BEEF in the corner and Dean tagged in for a bronco buster. Bravo tagged in and he and Dean hit a double neckbreaker on BEEF.

Taylor tagged in and splashed BEEF from the second rope. He went for the cover, but Henry broke up the pin. BEEF came back to life with a dropkick and got a hot tag to Henry. Taylor tagged in Dean and Henry hit him with a pop up knee and german suplex. .

Drake Taged in and he and Henry hit a combination powerbomb and duelling knee strikes. Bravo jumped in to break up a pin, but Henry sent him out. Taylor tagged in and Drake caught him with a belly to belly suplex, which if you’ve seen those guys, was no laughing matter.

Dean lay prone in the ring and BEEF, the legal man started jawing with Agogo. Suddenly, Rush appeared behind BEEF and drilled him with the ROH Tag Title Belt. Bravo got dean back up and they hit a double stomp on BEEF, knocking him cold.

Dean made a quick pin and STP got the win to retain their titles.

Match Result: Shane Taylor Promotions defeated BEEF & The WorkHorsemen

After the match, STP laid a beating onto BEEF ending with Taylor going up top. Before he could execute, Sky Flight showed up and ran off STP. They also happened to be in the next match, so they stuck around.

Six Man Tag Team Match: SkyFlight (Dante Martin, Darius Martin & Scorpio Sky) (w/Christopher Daniels & Leila Grey) vst The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) & Matt Menard

Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni debated what team name the Kingdom and Menard should use, completely missing “Magic Kingdom.” Then again, the house of mouse is notoriously letigious, so maybe it was for the best.

Bennett and Darious started things off with Darious getting a facebuster on Bennett before Dante tagged in and went for the cover. Bennett kicked out and Taven tagged in. Dante hit a crazy parkour-style flip off the bottom rope and Darious tagged back in.

Darious threw Taven into the corner, but Taven ducked the charge and Menard tagged in. Darious went off the ropes, but Bennett grabbed the ankle, pulling him out. Dante dove after him and took out Taven and Bennett.

Darious got back into the ring and Menard instantly DDT’d him and threw him into the corner for some uppercuts. Bennett tagged in and added some chops to the mix. Darious battled back, but Bennett sent him into a kick from Taven. Bennett tried a pin, but only got a two count. He stomped Darious, then chopped him against the ropes.

Bennett threw a bunch of lariats in the corner on Darius, then sent him off the ropes. Darius saw it coming though and suplexed him. Dairus got a hot tag to Dante and Taven tagged in, taking out both Martin brothers. Taven hit a spinning DDT on Dante and went for a spingboard moonsault, but Dante rolled out of the way. That allowed Darious to hit an around the world DDT.

Dante got a tag to Sky who started clearing the ring. He eneded up with Bennett who he dropkicked. Taven came in and Sky hit a Sky High powerbomb, but Taven kicked out at two. Taven hit s superkick and tagged in Menard. Bennett grabbed Sky in a spiccoli driver and Taven hit him with Just The Tip.

Sky threw Bennett out and caught Menard with a cutter and that was it. Skyflight picked up the victory.

Match Result: SkyFlight defeated The Kingdom & Matt Menard

After the match, respect was show and everyone shook hands.

The Don Callis Family (Hechicero & Lance Archer) (w/Rocky Romero) vs Orion & The OXP

Archer and Hechicero entered individually, with Romero, but no Don Callis. OXP and Orion were already there, so Hechicero played to the crowd to draw things out as much as he could.

The bell rang and Hechicero faced off against OXP. Hechicero wasted no time in destroying the leg of OXP, wrenching and stomping it while he howled in pain. He set OXP up against the rope and whe OXP came off with a leapfrog, Hechicero caught him in a suplex.

Archer tagged in and continued the assualt. He thew a lariat, but Orion got a blind tag. So Archer threw OXP at Orion and flattened them both. Hechicero tagged back in, but OXP actually got a boot in before Hechicero hit a spinning facebuster.

Hechicero put OXP in a surfboard and Archer came off the ropes with a catalpult. Hechicero hit a high knee on Orion, and Archer chokeslammed OXP. Hechicero locked in a swinging cobra clutch and OXP tapped out.

Match Result: The Don Callis Family defeated Orion & The OXP

The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) vs Alex Zayne & Willie Mack

Jay Lethal was shown in the back watching the match at that odd angle that wrestlers watch tv at. He and Christian have had beef for a while now, so he was interested in seeing the Swirl rotate in a clockwise manner.

Mack started things off against Johnson, which was a good matchup because they both like crazy. A test of strength ensued and Johnson backed out of it. Mack put a headlock on, but Johnson forced him into the corner and threw a stiff kick. Mack punched out of that and hit a shoulder block sending Johnson to the mat.

A trios match featuring Dalton Castle & The Outrunners round out the card.

**********

It’s an extra Boy-ous occasion tonight on Ring of Honor as DALTON CASTLE makes his long-awated return to an ROH Ring! If that’s not cause for celebration, then I don’t know what is!

The show opened with a promo from The Swirl. Blake Christian was furious that Mascara Dorada has been in title contention and he hasn’t. Johnson stepped in and said that they would make sure Dorada didn’t make it to his next title shot (which is Saturday on Collision).

Six Man Tag Team Match: Dalton Castle & The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) vs Leeroy Shogun, Logan Cruz & Tyshaun Perez

The Outrunners are here! The Boys are here! Dalton Castle is here! Let’s go break some hearts!

Magnum started off against Perez, who’s team was going by the name “The Gifted.” Magnum easily overpowered him though, even when he had Magnum in a headlock. Floyd tagged in and backdropped Perez like a ton of bricks. Shogun tagged in and hit some open handed chops on Floyd, staggering him.

Perez came back in for a double team, but Floyd fought them off. He tagged in Magnum and they hit stereo bulldog clotheslines before giving the crowd what it wanted and tagging in Castle.

Castle immediately started throwing suplexes on Shogun, Cruz and Perez. The Outrunners sent Cruz and Shogun out, and hit their patendted double elbow on Perez. Castle followed that with a picture perfect Bangarang and that was it. Castle and the Outrunners were victorious.

Match Result: Dalton Castle & The Outrunners defeated Leeroy Shogun, Logan Cruz & Tyshaun Perez

Billie Starkz vs Aleah James

James and Starkz were tag partners last week and ended up losing the match. A rare loss for Starkz and she was looking to punish James for it.

The bell rang and the bratting began with Starkz making faces at the crowd, but falling victim to a wristlock from James. Starkz managed to reverse it, but James flipped away and sent Starkz to the mat.

Starkz drove an elbow into James’ ribs and threw her into the ropes. James turned it into a headscissor and Starkz wailed at the crowd in frustration. Starkz went for a lariat, but James ducked, knocking her down. Starkz lured her into the corner then drop toe-holded her into the turnbuckle.

Starkz sent James to the mat face-first and then peppered her with big strikes. She knocked James’ head against the turnbuckle again then charged in and hit a DDT. Starkz mugged for the crowd allowing James to get a shot in.

Starks sent onte back then climbed the turnbuckle for a swanton. She launched, but James got her knees up. The two started trading strikes, with James getting Starkz to her knees. She threw her into the corner and sent her back with a monkey flip and then a crossbody.

James hit a Fisherwoman’s suplex, but Starkz kicked out at two. James came in off the ropes, but Starkz got her in a sleeper, during which she raked the eyes. Starks hit a brainbuster, but James kicked out at two to the astonishment of her opponent.

Starkz got James up on her shoulders, but James rolled through for a two count. James hit a chinbreaker and charged, but Starkz grabbed her in a rollup and used the bottom rope for leverage to get the pin.

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Aleah James

Aaron Solo & QT Marshall vs. The Don Callis Family (Lance Archer & Rocky Romero) (w/Trent Beretta)

Two weeks ago, the Callis Family attacked Marshall and Solo during a QTV segment. I know what you’re thinking and don’t worry, Harley Cameron was ok.

Callis grabbed a mic before the introductions to address the crowd. Callis explained that he was disappointed in Marshall for being partners with the Costco Guys, AJ and Big Justice. Callis said that he wanted to “light Marshall on fire and leave him with the garbage.” Kind of extreme, but OK.

Romero, Archer and Beretta came down and Callis started talking again about what a loser Marshall was. That brought Marshall and Solo sprinting to the ring. Archer clotheslined Marshall and then Solo dropkicked him out of the ring.

The match officially started with Solo and Romero facing off. Romero laid in some stiff shots and sent Solo off the ropes. Solo hit a headscissor and dropkick before locking in an armbar. Marshall tagged in and they clotheslined Romero.

Romero sent Marshall into the ropes where Archer kicked himin the back. Marshall went to go off the ropes, but Beretta pulled down the top rope and he spilled over tot he outside. Archer sent Solo into the barricades while no one was looking and Romero threw Marshall back in.

Romero tagged in Archer who threw Marshall around the ring, hitting elbows in the corners. He threw Marshall out and while Romero distracted the ref, Callis stomped Marshall.

Back in the ring Archer taunted Marshall, no selling everything he threw at him before hitting a suplex and tagging in Romero. Romero thew a few strikes then tagged Archer back in. Archer went to clothesline Marshall, but he ducked it and got a hot tag to Solo.

Archer grabbed Solo for a choke slam, but Solo countered it into a face kick. Romero catapulted Solo into the corner, but Solo used the momentum for a double stomp. Solo superkicked Romero and thew an elbow in the corner. Solo tagged in Marshall, but that brought in Archer.

Solo and Marshall clotheslined Archer out for the ring and Romero took over, throwing running elbows at Solo and Marshall until they conuntered with an elbow and a superkick. Archer got back in and chokeslammed Solo. He went to so the same to Marshall, but Beretta hit him with his cast. Archer finished the chokeslam and Romero finished Marshall off with a stomp for the win.

Match Result: The Don Callis Family defeated Aaron Solo & QT Marshall

After the match, The Callis Family beat down Marshall and Solo, but who should come to their rescue? Big Boom AJ. He sent Archer into the stairs then took out Romero with a bit clothesline. Baretta snuck up on him and kicked AJ in the gut. Marshall avenged that with a big boot. AJ and Marshall stood tall in the ring, not sure if they were friendly at first, but Marshall threw him a giant hug and the two celebrated as the Callis Family slunk up the ramp.

-Backstage, Dalton Castle and The Outrunners celebrated their win. Castle got startled by a statue of the Jacksonville Jaguar, but the Outrunners assured him that they were the “muscle beneath his wings.” Castle charged up and they continued celebrating through the hallways.

ROH Pure Title Proving Ground Match: Lee Moriarty [c] vs Alex Zayne

So, Zayne has been impressive but has gone 0-5 since July in ROH. For some reason that means he gets a chance to get a chance at Moriarty and the Pure title. So it goes.

They two locked up off the top with Moriarty putting on a waistlock. Zayne reversed it into an ankle hold, but Moriarty twisted out of it. Moriarty rolled him into a pink attempt, but only got a one count. The two chain wrestled and Moriarty put on the Border City Stretch. Zayne used his first rope break at 8:42.

Moriarty twisted Zayne to the mat in a wristlock, but Zayne bounced up and reversed it with one of his own. The two chain wrestled until Zayne dropped a double knee to Moriarty’s back. Moriarty rolled out of the ring and Zayne hopped up on the ropes, but Moriarty pulled him off and hit a crossbody.

Moriarty pushed Zayne down while holding his arms back, stretching him. Zayne worked it around and Moriarty put on an Octopus stretch. Zayne powered towards the ropes, but Moriarty held him back. Zayne pushed throught and used his second rope break at 6:02.

Zayne managed to get a suplex in to stop Moriarty in his tracks. Zayne started throwing strikes and hit a flipping bulldog before working Moriarty’s leg into an ankle lock. Moriarty kicked him off, saving a rope break. Zayne hit an inside out moonsault on Moriarty and went back to the Ankle Lock.

Moriarty dragged himself to the ropes, but Zayne pulled him back. Moriarty used the momentum to roll him out, but Zayne kicked out and went right back to that ankle lock. He hit a face buster, but Moriarty stuck his foot under the rope to avoid the pin, using his first break at 3:24.

Zayne tried a pumphandle slam, but Moriarty reversed it into a headlock. He dragged Zayne to the corner, and Zayne set him up for a headscissor. Moriarty reversed it into a Border CIty Stretch/STF combo and Zane tapped out, giving Moriarty the win.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty defeated Alex Zayne

Mixed Six Person Tag Team Match: The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari, Stori Denali & Tony Nese) (w/Mark Sterling) vs Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) & Isla Dawn

The Athletes have been feuding with Dawn and the Vets for almost a week now. Dawn debuted last week in a six-person match and this week, she’ll be up against Stori Denali who’s really, really tall.

The crowd gritted their teeth and made sure we knew that the Athletes did not rule and the match was on. Nese and Gibson started off and Nese immediately started posing. Gibson charged and Nese got him in a headlock. Nese started playing mind games, doing push ups next to Gibson.

Nese ran the ropes and Gibson just couldn’t catch him. Finally, during some of Nese’s mugging, Gibson poked him in the eye and tagged in Drake. Daivari tagged in and Drake knocked him to the mat. Daivari thew a hip at him, but Dawn tagged in. That brought in Denali, but not before Dawn managed to suplex Daivari.

Dawn managed to stay out of Denali’s reach for a minute, but Denali started throwing elbows at her face. Denali caught her with a big boot and tagged in Nese who shook his finger at Dawn who started biting it. That brought in Gibson to bite Nese’s other hand.

Drake came in and the Vets cleaned house. Drake went after Nese on the outside, but Sterling got in the way. Then Denali gave him a shot and Nese threw Drake back into the ring where Daivari hit a Flying Carpet while the ref was distracted. It only got a two count though.

Daivari and Nese started double teaming Drake, isolating him in the corner and throwing punches. Nese put a headlock on Drake, but Drake reversed it in to a suplex and got a hot tag to Gibson. Daivari came in and Gibson threw a bunch of lariats. Nese tried to helpl, but Gibson just stacked them up and kept punching.

Gibson and Daviari fought in the ring and Gibson hit a back suplex. Drake came over and they set up for a Doomsday maching, but Nese interfered. Drake sent him out and hit a face buster on Daivari. Drake climbed the turnbuckle, but Daivari knocked him off the ropes, which brought in Denali who gave him a shot.

Dawn charged in throwing hands, but Denali fought back until Dawn got a Dragon Sleeper on. Denali fought out and chokeslammed her, getting the 1-2-3 and the win for the Premier Athletes.

Match Result: The Premier Athletes defeated Grizzled Young Veterans & Isla Dawn

Komander & Mascara Dorada (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson)

I still don’t understand why Christian and Johnson insist on being called the Swirl, but they have matching gear for it now, so I guess it’s not going anywhere. Komander arrived in blue and Dorada entered to a big ovation.

Christian offered a Code of Honor to Dorada, but then flipped him off, like you do. Dorada charged and Christian ducked. The two ran the ropes, flipping over each other until Christian caught Dorada with a headscissor. Dorada wasn’t done though and the two traded pin attempts until Johnson tagged in and flattened Dorada.

Johnson hit a huge suplex and then a big back drop on Dorada. He went for another one, but Dorada shoved him into Christian causing a tag, and tagging in Komander as well. Komander flipped and flew around the ring impressing even Christian, who caught him with a punch off the ropes.

Christian and Johnson double teamed Komander on the ring apron (the doublest part of the ring!) and Johnson dove over the top rope onto him. Johnson hung Komander up on the barricade and Christian dove onto Dorada when he tried to help. They laid them both out on the railing and Christian hit a guillotine on both luchadores.

Johnson threw Komander back in and whipped him into the corner. Christian tagged in and choked Komander with the top rope. Christian went for the mask of Komander, raking the eyes in the process.

Johnson tagged in an laid Komander out with a big kick. He went for a powerbomb, but Komander reversed it into a bulldog. He got a hot tag to Dorada and the two double teamed Christian with a buch of knees and hurricanranas.

The luchardoes went for stereo dives to the outside, but both had their ankles grabbed. Johnson and Christian then ate dual hurricanranas that sent them to the outside. Dorada and Komander did a stereo top rope dive onto both.

Dorada put Johnson back in the ring and Dorada went up top. He leapt, but Johnson kicked him. Dorada hit a superkick and went for a springboard, but Johnson shoved him out of the ring and Christian hit a suicide dive.

Back int he ring, Johnson put Dorada up for a stalling suplex that turned into a Brainbuster for a two count. Johnson got Dorada up on his shoulders, but Dorada wiggled out and tagged in Komander who spammed superkicks. Dorada hoisted Christian up for an electric chair neckbreaker, Johnson hit a spiccoli driver on Dorada, Komander hit a DDT on Johnson, then Christian hit a Lethal injection on Komander.

Whew.

Dorada and Johnson ended up legal, but Christian was in the ring as well. He and Johnson threw knees and elbows and Johnson hoisted him up for their double stomp. Knomander knocked Christian off the ropes though and hit a poisonrana.

Johnson lay in the ring and Dorada went up for a shooting star press. He landed it on Johnson and sent the Swirl packing.

Match Result: Komander & Mascara Dorada defeated The Swirl

Rasmussen was the founder of Death Valley Driver Video Review, an early wrestling message board that brought exposure to international stars and bizarre matches before such things became easily accesible on YouTube and the like. By all accounts, he was a wonderful guy who brought a lot of joy to wrestling fans everywhere, including a guy with some big ideas named Tony Khan. Best Two Out Of Three Falls Submissions Only Six Man Tag Team Match: Blue Panther, El Pantera & Virus vs. Dr. Cerebro, Hechicero & Xelhua

And a pretty big one to kick it off with! Hechicero just fought Bandido for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dushonor and Xelhua went to war with Lee Moriarty for the Pure Championship. Blue Panther, as has been previously established, is very, very old. This match was a submission-ONLY two out of three match, so no pins, just submissions.

Pantera and Cerebro (Magneto?) kicked things off with a more technical exchange than was expected in this lucadore match, buty it was pretty awesome none the less with Pantera working the wrist of Cerebro. Cerebro fought back and tagged in Xelhua, which summoned Blue Panther.

Panther had the much, much younger Xelhua in a headscissor but Xelhua flipped out. Panther responded with a brutal looking ankle stretch and then tagged in Virus, who went one on one with Hechicero. These two put a bit more speed into things, until Hechicero wrapped up Virus’ legs. Virus got out of it though and the two locked up again.

Hechicero kept trying to pin Virus, buyt the ref quickly reminded him that it was submissions only. Pantera tagged in and Hechicero slipped out and a brawl began at ringside. In the ring, Xelhua managed to get Virus to submit to a leg hold, getting the first submission for Team Hechicero.

Xelhua stayed in to face Pantera and was thrown around a bit before slipping out. That brought in Cerebro and Virus who again, kept trying to pin each other. Virus tagged in Panther and Hechicero entered to face the lucha legend.

Panther started a Bryan Danielson “yes” chant (which I’m sure geeked Danielson out big time) and Hechicero tried to get a lock on, but Panter reveresed it and Cerebro broke it up. Panther hit an arm drag and sent Hechicero out which brought Cerebro back in. Pantera took over and then Virus double teamed Cerebro with him.

Xelhua hit a crossbody from the top rope on both Pantera and Virus and the schmozz afterwards let to Panther putting Xelhua in a leg lock, forcing him to submit. That tied things up at 1-1, meaning the next submission would win the match.

Xelhua whiffed on a dropkick giving Virus a chance to get som offence in. Hechicero jumped in to beat up, well, everyone, and that left Hechicero and Virus as legal. They rolled around until Hechicero got a hold on but Pantera broke it up. Cerebro slapped an arm lock on him, but Panther clotheslined him out of it.

Xelhua and Pantera faced off, but at this point any time someone got a lock in, one of their teammates would break it up. Hechicero flew from the top rope onto Pantera and then sent Panther around the world. Hechicero locked in a reverse figure four on Virus, but Pantera broke it up.

Pantera and Cerebro locked up and Pantera had to get to the ropes to stay alive. Virus and Xelhua exchanged arm drags in and out of the ring, leaving Hechicero and Pantera in the ring to duke it out. Hechicero locked in a reverse cloverleaf on Pantera and moved it into a surfboard. Pantera held on as long as he could, but had to tap, giving the win to Team Hechicero.

Match Result: Dr. Cerebro, Hechicero & Xelhua defeated Blue Panther, El Pantera & Virus

Nicole Matthews vs. Billie Starkz

Nicole Matthews is Canadian which means I legally have to root for her, but how can anyone not see Starkz pulling out a win here. Starkz arrived alone, looking much happier to not be invovled in Athena-related drama for the moment.

Matthews relied on her technical skills to get the early advantage with a double knee to the back death lock variation. Matthews switched to a front face lock and Starkz managed to created some space. Starkz started playing mind games, but Matthews put a stop to it. Starkz slapped her and the chops began.

Matthews had a bit more power than Starkz and tossed her into the corner for a few big kicks to the throat followed by a kneelift that left Starkz dazed and staggering. Starkz reversed a powerbomb attempt and flung Matthews head first into the turnbuckle.

Starkz took a little too long soaking in her sucess and Matthews came back with some big punches that were only stopped by and eye poke from Starkz. Matthews went up top for a missile dropkick that sent Starkz flying.

Matthews hit a brainbuster in the middle of the ring, but only got a two-count. Matthews went for a moonsault, but Starkz dodged it and hit a n electric chair-style driver, putting Matthews right on her head and getting the pin.

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Nicole Matthews

-Backstage, Sammy Guevara and Rush, the ROH Tag Team Champions were interviewed. Guevara said that LFI are here to stay and if anyone has a problem with it, too bad. Rush agreed.

Wheeler Yuta vs. Matt Mako

Yuta was sadly not participating in the Hair-Vs-Hair match later in the show, but did arrive with Marina Shafir who I assume is allowed to take anything from the fridge while babysitting him. Mako calls himself “Weapon X” but do NOT tell Brian Cage.

Yuta started with a very technical slap to the face, causing Mako to wrap him up in a calf crusher. Yuta got the the ropes though and Mako went for an elbow lock. The two wrestled around (imagine that) until Mako caight Yuta with a spinning heel kick.

Yuta resorted to biting, taking a chunk out of Mako’s ear before sending him out of the ring. Shafir threw him judo style and Yuta dove through the ropes, sending Mako into the barricade. Back in the ring, Yuta hut a senton, but only got a two count.

Yuta dropped an elbow from the top rope, but it was another two count. Mako tried to power back, chopping Yuta from the ground. The two then exchanged a flurry of kicks, with Yuta starting to favour his leg. Shafir, with some very aggressive eyeliner watched with concern from ringside.

Mako tried to pivot to power moves, suplexing and throwing Yuta around the ring. Yuta exposed the steel holding the turnbuckle to the ring post and bounced Mako’s head off if it. Mako fell out of the ring and when Yuta followed, he put a sleeper on him.

Shafir got involved, but not enough to stop Mako from hitting a cannonball on Yuta. Mako tossed him back into the ring and put on an armbreaker. Yuta wormed his way out of it and hit an Angle Slam for a two count.

Mako put Yuta on the top turnbuckle and the two traded blows. Mako hit a superplex followed by a blue thunder bomb, but only got the traditional blue thunder two count. Mako started throwing hands until Yuta hit a back elbow. Yuta put him in a waist lock and suplexed Mako to another two count.

Yuta went up top, but Mako followed. Mako flipped Yuta from the top rope and landed in a cross armbreaker. Shafir got up on the ring apron and Yuta raked the eyes behind the refs back. Yuta then hit a high knee and got the pin.

Match Result: Wheeler Yuta defeated Matt Mako

After the match, Yuta started jawing at Dean Rassmusen’s son, Eric. Eric didn’t back down and Yuta pulled him over the barricaade for a beatdown. Security pulled Yuta off of him and the segment ended.

Sammy Guevara, The Beast Mortos and Dralistico w/ Rush vs Cheeseburger, Eli Isom and Rhett Titus

Guevara and Titus started things off with Guevara giving up about 10 inches in vert to Titus. Dralistic decided he’d rather be in the match and tagged in, stomping Titus in the corner. Mortos then tagged in against Cheeseburger and as was appropriate, ate him.

In reality, he powerbombed him into next month, but it didn’t matter becuase a brawl with all six broke out with the LFI guys making short work of their opponents. Guevara stopped for a moment to pose and then Mortos and Isom fought.

Mortos hit a samoan drop on Isom and Guevara hit a shooting star press for the 1-2-3.

Match Result: Sammy Guevara, The Beast Mortos and Dralistico defeated Cheeseburger, Eli Isom and Rhett Titus

After the match, Mortos and Dralistico piled their opponents in the ring and Guevara grabbed a mic. He assured the crowd that Philadelphia sucks and Orlando is far superior. Guevara said that Dean’s favourite wrestlers were the members of LFI. Guevara put everyone on the back on notice that they were coming for all the titles. Then they beat up Titus, Isom and Cheeseburger some more.

-In the parking lot, Lee Johnson and Blake Christian assured everyone that The Swirl (ugh) are undefeated and undefeatable. Christian said that Bandido is an old chapter in a book that needs to be closed.

Hair Vs. Hair Match: Demus vs. Mad Dog Connelly

So if it’s not obvious, the winner of this match gets to cut the hair of the loser. Connelly looked like Dr Death Steve Williams in terms of his hair style and Demus was rocking a side-shaved mullet. So no matter who wins, someone’s hair is getting an improvement.

These two are pretty much what anyone would think of when the term “bruiser” came up. They immediately began throwing hamhocks with Connelly trying and early cover. He only got a two count though and ripped Demus’ shirt about it.

Connelly choked Demus with his own shirt, causing Demus to rake the eyes. The two battled on the outside with Demus being the first to introduce biting to the match. Connelly then used his own face as a weapon and head butted Demus into the steep steps (yes, you read that right). Connelly then drove him into the steps again, but on the third one, Demus reversed it giving Connelly a taste of his own medicine (spoiler, it tasted like steel).

Back in the ring, Connelly sent Demus into the corner for a splash, but Demus reversed it and raked the eye, followed by a crossbody from the top turnbuckle. Demus bent Connelly in half with a back chin lock and then chopped him in the corner. Demus then bit Connelly’s nipples. Again, you read that right.

Connelly hit a gutwrench slam, but it only got a two count. Connelly rolled out of the ring to get his thoughts together and grab a chair from under the ring. He pounded Demus across the back with it and then set up the chair in the center of the ring. Sitting Demus down in it, he went for a cannon ball, but Demus moved and Connelly hit the chair.

Demus then returned the favour from earlier and hit Connelly with the chair. Demus got Connelly up for a power slam and climbed to the second turnbuckle. Demus hit a senton, but Connelly moved and laid Demus out with a piledriver.

Connelly went up top, but Demus grabbed him for a shoulderbreaker driver and tried a pin for a two-count. Demus went under the ring and grabbed a chain with two collars that they had previously used in a match. Demus got the collar on Connelly and Demus used the chain to literally hang him from the ropes.

Connelly tried to fight back, but it was too much and he passed out on the ring apron (the hariest part of the ring!).

Match Result: Demus defeated Mad Dog Connelly

After the match, Demus called for some clippers and tried to shave Connelly’s head. Connelly had recovered at this point and pushed him away, grabbing the clippers. Connelly began screaming and shaving his own head, not giving Demus the pleasure. Demus grabbed a handful of shaved hair as a trophy and celebrated.

ROH Pure Title Match: Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Josh Woods

Josh Woods held the ROH Pure title for 201 days, but Moriarty has been champion for more than double that, at 413 days, the longest reign ever. Moriarty arrived with the ROH Trios Champions, Shane Taylor Promotions.

To get everyone up to speed, in Pure Rules matches, each competitor gets three rope breaks, then they can be pinned or submitted under the ropes. Each gets one closed-fist warning and any outside interference results in an automatic DQ. Also, the title can change hands on a DQ. If there’s no winner at the time limit (in this case, one hour), a panel of judges will decide the outcome.

Woods and Moriarty worked around the ring, neither one getting a solid hold on the other. Woods sent Moriarty to ther corner, but Moriarty bounced out and pulled him over with an arm drag. Moriarty began working Woods arm and looked for a border city strech early. Woods rolled him into the ropes, causing the ref to decide Woods used a rope break at 57:40.

Woods responded with a gorilla lock, forcing Moriarty to use a rope break at 56:47, evening things up. Moriarty went back to the arm of Woods and the two struggled to lock in an armbar. Woods sent Moriarty into the corner and hung him up on the ropes. He then hit a gutwrench stuplex for a to count.

Woods’ strategy seemed to be the work the midsection of Moriarty, wrapping him in the ropes and peppered him with strikes. He then tried to get Moriarty in a submission, but he was already on the ropes, so Moriarty was docked a second rope break at 54:49.

Moriarty tried the same tactic on Woods and forced him to use a rope break at 52:53. Moriarty then started working to put him away with some big slams, forearms and pinning combinations. Moriarty put a cross armbreaker on Woods in the center of the ring. Woods tried to power out, but Moriarty switched to a triangle.

Woods stood up while still in the triangle and dropped Moriarty to the floor with a powerbomb. He then hit a twisting suplex and went for a pin 1-2-3!

But! Moriarty’s foot was under the ropes, so it did not count. It did cost Moriarty his last rope break though, so when Woods put him in an ankle lock, Moriarty grabbing the ropes did nothing. Moriarty rolled Woods up into a bridge pin and managed to hold him long enough to get the pin.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty defeated Josh Woods

After the match, STP came down to the ring to celebrate with Moriarty. Woods shook his hand and bowed out as Shane Taylor grabbed a mic. He said that all of STP should have been on the card tonight. As a “problem solver” Taylor said he wasn’t leaving until ACTION sent him someone to beat up.

With that, AR Fox arrived and I guess it was time for a match!

Shane Taylor vs AR Fox

Fox got the drop on Taylor off the top, sending him out of the ring. Fox then hit two big dives on him and went for a kick flip moonsault. Taylor caught him in midair though and threw Fox into the barricade repeatedly.

Taylor threw Fox back into the ring and Fox tried to throw som jabs. Taylor responded with a lariat that sent Fox back in time. Taylor then threw him across the ring and stalked over to him. Fox tried to bring the fight back, but Taylor grabbed him an hit a massive chokeslam. Taylor went for a leg drop, but Fox rolled out of the way.

They started trading punches, with Taylor coming out on top. Taylor went for another lariat, but Fox matrix’ed out of it. Fox hit a splash on Taylor in the corner and knocked him down with some elbows. Taylor crawled back up and Fox walked right into some hard chops.

Fox used the barricade as a launching point and hit a stunner on the ring apron. He pushed taylor back into the ring and went for a pin, but only got a two count. Fox went up for a 450, but Taylor rolled out of the way and puched him with a knockout blow, getting the pin and the victory.

Match Result: Shane Taylor defeated AR Fox

AEW Collision live results: IWGP World title eliminator, Ace Austin debuts

Tonight’s AEW Collision from Cincinnati, Ohio, will feature a four-way title eliminator match for Forbidden Door in addition to the debut of former TNA star Ace Austin.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty, former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Nigel McGuinness and Hechicero will do battle with the winner moving on to face IWGP World Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at this month’s Forbidden Door.

Months after moving on from TNA, former X-Division and Tag Team Champion Ace Austin will make his debut as he battles Ricochet.

The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta will take on JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) while Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) faces Blake Christian & Lee Johnson.

In a four-way, it will be Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart vs. Anna Jay vs. Penelope Ford for $100,000 on the line.

The card is rounded out by Juice Robinson vs. Bryan Keith, and an appearance by AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm.

**********

Let the colliding begin as Collision begins with the one and only AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm!

Storm addressed the crowd as only she can, calling Athena “annoying.” Storm mocked Athena’s many nicknames and her bullying of Billie Starkz. Storm got on her knees and prayed to the “Fallen Goddess” when suddenly, the ROH Forever Champion herself arrived to attack her. Starkz joined Athena and the two beat down storm. Athena grabbed the mic and said that Storm better pray that Athena doesn’t expose her as the fraud she is.

Starkz dragged Storm to the ring and Athena assured Storm that her days were numbered. She then claimed Storm’s spotlight but suddenly Mina Shirakawa arrived and sent Athena reeling. In the ring, Storm hit a suplex on Starkz, leaving Athena caught in between Shirakawa and Storm. She dove off the ring ramp and was taken away by security. Storm and Shirakawa celebrated on the ramp.

JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) vs. Death Riders’ Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta

Knight and Speedball have both had singles matches with Jon Moxley. Now, they are going to try the tag team thing and take on Mox and Yuta, while Marina Shafir prowls around the ring.

JetSpeed dove over the top rope and took out Yuta and Moxley before the bell had even rung. Bailey tossed Yuta into the ring and the match started, officially. Knight tagged right in and the two hit a bunch of double team plants and kicks.

Yuta and Knight carried on while Moxley sauntered his way to the corner. Yuta tagged him in and Moxley went right to Bailey in the corner, knocking him off. He then sent Knight over the top rope to the outside, bouncing his head off the announce table multiple times. Bailey tried to help, but Moxley bounced his head off the table for good measure.

Back in the ring, Moxley tagged in Yuta who hit a bridge suplex for a two-count. Yuta tagged Moxley back in and he proceeded to punch Knight in the stomach for a few minutes before tagging Yuta back in. The Death Riders plan seemed to be to keep both members off JetSpeed off their feet so that they couldn’t build momentum.

Bailey tagged in and hit a few quick kicks on Yuta followed by a standing Shooting Star cover for two. Bailey resorted to a Karate Kid crane kick that knocked Yuta off his feet. He tagged in Moxley who was able to get in just in time to eat a double dropkick.

Moxley grabbed Bailey and hit a German suplex on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) before tossing him back in to Yuta. The two double teamed Bailey with Moxley working over his arm. Moxley sent Bailey out of the ring where Shafir added her two cents. Mox bounced Bailey off the barricade and tossed him back in for a backbreaker.

Yuta tagged in and Baliey began a comeback. Moxley tagged back in and put an end to that with a suplex attempt that Baily reversed into a pin attempt. Yuta tagged in before Bailey could make a tag to Knight, but after a bit of a back and forth, the tag was made and a fresh Knight leapt in to slam and splash Yuta.

Yuta tagged in Moxley and Knight tagged in Bailey and the two started trading forearms. Yuta and Knight tried to get involved, but it ended up with all four men brawling in the ring. Moxley dodged a high kick from Baliey and turned it into a cutter and a two count. Knight came in and took out Mox, leaving Bailey and Yuta as the legal men.

Bailey and Knight hit an amazing double team hurricanrana into a power bomb, but it only got a two count. Bailey went up for a springboard splash but again, only two. Knight took his turn next, going for a splash, but Yuta rolled out of the way. Knight had Yuta in a backslide, but Shafir pulled Knight out. Bailey tried to help, but sent Shafir into the stairs by mistake.

Back in the ring, Yuta was covered by Knight, but Shafir pulled the ref out. Then Mox pulled out Bailey for a ddt on the outside. Yuta took the opportunity to low-blow Baliey and get a three count.

Match Result: Death Riders defeated JetSpeed

Great match to kick things off! The brawling style vs the high flying was a joy to watch. Jon Moxley is the grumpiest man on the planet and I’d pay just to watch him stomp around about stuff.

-Back from break, The Outrunners were shown in the music video for “Brother Nature” which one can only assume was produced in 1988. Good TV.

Ricochet vs. Ace Austin

This is Austin’s big AEW debut and doing it against Ricochet promises to make it memorable. The two had a confrontation on Wednesday, so there’s already some bad feelings in the mix. Also, I love Ricochet’s entrance music.

Austin made a pretty big splash as he entered. He looks like he’s about 17 years old though, so I’ll assume he had to put down his Switch 2 to get into the match.

Speaking of, Austin had control off the top. He and Ricochet had a lighting fast exchange, with Austin sending Ricochet out of the ring. Austin then wouldn’t let him get back in the ring, stopping him with some big kicks.

When Ricochet finally made it back in, he managed to hang Austin up on the ropes and then stood on his hair, clearly out of jealousy. Ricochet dropped elbows and knees on Austin, keeping him off his feet and sending him into the corner for a 619 and then a big elbow drop.

Back from break, Austin was headed up to the top turnbuckle, when Gates of Agony appeared at the top of the ramp. That allowed Ricochet to get a brainbuster followed by a shooting star press off the distraction. Ricochet hit a big samoan drop, but only got a two count.

Ricochet tried to position Austin for a big move, but Austin wormed out only to eat a bit kick. Ricochet went up top, but Austin returned the favor from earlier and knocked him off the ropes. Austin then hit a lalriat sending Ricochet out. Austin followed with a dive, but before he could get back in the ring, Kaun got ahold of him. Austin sent Kaun into a ring post and jumped back in.

Austin and Ricochet exchanged pin attempts until Ricochet hit a Spirit Gun and that was too much for the younger star and Ricochet got the pin.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Ace Austin

-Backstage the Hurt Syndicate were interviewed and stated that they don’t care who wins the finals of the Tag Team Tournament because they will beat whoever it is.

Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

After saying so in an interview with Rene Paquette, O’Reilly and Strong are looking to re-forge some undisputed links in their new group, Paragon. A win over Christian and Johnson would be a good step forward in that, but personally I think they should go the Dark Order route and get some matching jackets. Those Dark Order jackets are sweet.

Strong and Christian kicked things off with a speedy exchange. Christian cartwheeled his way into into a double team though as O’Reilly tagged in. Johnson tried to save his partner, but Strong sent him packing.

Strong and O’Reilly double teamed Johnson in the ring, isolating him from Christian, who flew in and knocked Strong off the ring apron. Johnson claimed the momentum in the ring with a flurry of kicks on O’Reilly, blocking a hot tag to Strong by tagging in and out with Christian.

Strong and Johnson tagged in respectively and Strong hit a big shoulder slam. Strong hit a bunch of forearms and then O’Reilly joined him for some tandem knees. Christian and Johnson absoltuely flew around the ring ring until Strong and O’Reilly hit a high/low and picked up the win.

Match Result: Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong defeated Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

That match was wild! Johnson and Christian are so fast and athletic that it’s hard to keep up with them. I couldn’t tell who was legal half the time because everyone was always hitting someone. Strong and O’Reilly are great at this pro wrestling thing and I’m loving all the friendship angles. Great Stuff.

-Back from break, we saw a beat up Bandido with Stokely and FTR standing over them. Brody King showed up to avenge his partner and King and FTR fought their way out to the ring. King manhandled FTR, until Stokely hit King in the face with a fistfull of powder. FTR stole the mask of Bandido and hit a Shatter Machine on King.

-SkyFlight joined us from backstage offering Don Callis any match that he wants. Tag, singles, anything. Then they left to train.

$100K 4-Way Collision: Julia Hart vs. Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay

Straight up, I have no idea why $100,000 is on the line in this match. Considering they just had a $50K challenge before Supercard of Honor (won by AR Fox) this might be a sign that Tony Khan has too much money. Also, just so everyone’s clear, I will fight myself in a match for $25K.

The rules of the match weren’t really made clear, but all four women started brawling off the top. It seems that it’s no DQ and whoever gets a pinfall first wins. That said, Jay and Statlander sent HArt and Ford out early and battled each other in the ring. Statlander went for a pin, but Hart broke it up and replaced Jay in the ring.

Hart walked the ropes into a hurricanrana (do that, Undertaker!), but Ford stacked her and Statlander in the corner. Before she could do much though, Jay came back and stacked all three for a big roundhouse kick.

Hart and Ford seemed to form a loose alliance to beat up Jay. They traded moves on here, but anytime one went for a pin, the other would break it up. Statlander re-arrived and clotheslined, well, everyone, following it up with a big suplex to Jay.

Hart and Ford tried to suplex Statlander, but but she reversed it and ht a double suplex on them both. Jay sent Statlander to the outside and then Hart did the same to Jay, leaving her and Ford to fight in the ring. Ford hung Hart up on the ropes then whipped her backwards for a stomp or three.

Jay and Ford fought to the top turnbuckle, but Statlander grabbed Ford for a suplex, but left herself open to a blockbuster from Jay. Jay began spamming leg lariats and hit a backstabber on Statlander for a two-count.

Statlander got Jay and Hart on her back, but Ford dropkicked everyone into the corner. Statlander picked up Ford, but she reversed it into a poisonrana. Hart took Ford into the corner with a lariat and then a kick for Jay. Hart set Jay up in the corner and she and Ford hit stereo moonsaults that both missed.

Hart and Jay fought back and forth with Jay hitting a Gory special, but Ford broke up the pin. Ford dragged Jay to the outside, but Statlander caught Hart in the ring with a scissor choke on her forcing her to tap out and giving Statlander the win and $100k for some reason.

Match Result: Kris Statlander defeated Penelope Ford, Anna Jay and Julia Hart

After the match, every woman on the roster arrived for some reason and a melee broke out. Suddenly though, Harley Cameron and that broke it all up.

That was an amazing match but for two things: 1) there was no need for the gigantic run-in and 2) I still don’t know why $100K was on the line. Great fun though.

-SkyFlight’s challenge was answered in the back by Hechicero, Kyle Fletcher and Lance Archer. They will see Skyflight in Glasgow (because everybody dies, and so on) and seem very confident they will beat them in the match that they will surely tell us about before next Wednesday. Right?

-Backstage, Kris Statlander was interviewed about her big win. Harley Cameron arrived to celebrate with her and so did the Death Riders. Yuta and Moxley were very friendly (which was unsettling) and congratulated Statlander before leaving. The worst part was that Harley Cameron didn’t get to talk more.

Bryan Keith vs. Juice Robinson

Keith and Big Bill were knocked out of the AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament by the Bang Bang Gang. So the interfered with Robinson’s match against Ricochet. So tonight, they can hopefully settle the beef.

Keith and Robinson kicked things off with a perfectly cromulent chain. Things picked up during the break as Keith wrapped Robinson’s leg around the ringpost and nearly broke it in half. Back in the ring, Keith kept working the leg until Robinson threw a few elbows. Keith just wrenched his knee harder and put him in a modified Boston crab.

Back from break, Robinson reversed a Keith charge with an elbow. Keith grabbed his leg and Robinson punched him in the face a lot about it. He grabbed Keith and hit a spinebuster, but seemed to hurt his knee more than Keith.

Big Bill hopped up on the ring, so Austin Gunn got in his face. Bill threw him into the barricade, while Robinson hit a big slam in the ring, pinning Keith clean.

Match Result: Juice Robinson defeated Bryan Keith

-Backstage Rene Paquette interviewed Anthony Bowens. Bowens is tired of hearing about Max Caster. He represents the company and the fans better than anyone. Bowens was mad that Caster is going to Scotland and he isn’t. Bowens stomped off with nothing really resolved.

Technical Spectacle: Hechicero vs. Nigel McGuinness vs ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty vs Daniel Garcia

My goodness! Someone has been reading my dream journal, Mr Khan! This match is going to be insane. For those with a love of the technical aspects of wrestling, this isn’t a fantasy match, it’s a literal fantasy and I am so stoked for it! The winner of this will face off against IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door on Sunday, August 24 in London.

After a feeling out, McGuinness and Moriarty paried off as did Garcia and Hechicero. It was like two matches were happening at once, with McGuinness stomping the hand of Moriarty and Garcia trying to work Hechicero into a surfboard.

Moriarty hit a sunset flip on McGuinness and Garcia worked the ankle of Hechicero. Hechicero wrapped Garcia’s arm around the ropes while McGuinness sent Moriarty to the outside. Hechicero and Garcia followed them and Moriarty sent McGuinness into the barricade.

Garcia and Hechicero began chopping in the ring with Garcia sending Hechicero to the corner for some punches. Moriarty tried to break it up, but Garcia sent him packing. Hechicero grabbed Garcia and the two rolled around the ring hitting pin attempts.

On the outside, Moriarty put a full nelson on McGuinness, then flew back into the ring to try to pin Hechicero. Garcia sent Hechicero packing and turned his attention to Moriarty. McGuinness broke it all up with a stomp, leaving the other three on their backs.

Moriarty and Garcia exchanged opponents for a second before attacking each other. Moriarty got Garcia on his back, McGuinness locked around Moriarty’s leg and Hechicero went for his ankle. This lasted for a few minutes before everyone collapsed in a heap.

During the commercial, Moriarty and McGuinness fought in the ring while Garcia and Hechicero took things to the outside. Hechicero put a stretch on Garcia while McGuinness found himself in a Border City Stretch in the ring. Hechicero left Garcia and put an ankle lock on Moriarty. Then Garcia jumped back in and put an arm bar on Hechicero. The four men writhed in pain until everyone broke it up.

Hechicero wrenched McGuinness’ leg around the rope before moving on to Garcia. Hechicero went up top, but McGuninness pulled him down with a Tower of London and went for a pin. Garcia broke it up though and began chopping McGuinness. Garcia almost had him pinned, but Hechicero broke it up with a kick.

Hechicero put a sleeper on McGuinness and Garcia and Moriarty fought across the ring. McGuinness wrapped his leg around Hechicero’s ankle forcing him to break the hold. Moriarty Had Garcia on his back and Garcia wiggled free and hit a crossface on McGuinness. Hechicero had Moariarty wrapped up and McGuinness rolled through.

McGuinness had Garcia’s arm locked and Moriarty had Hechicero in a figure four, but he got a rope break. Moriarty started throwing strikes at Hechicero who got him a an absolutely brutal headscissor. McGuinness locked in an arm hold on Hechicero while Garcia worked the legs of Moriarty. No one gave up so McGuinness hit Garcia in the head and wrapped up Moriarty’s arm in a London Dungeon.

After Moriarty broke free, Garcia began slapping Hechicero, slugging it out with the luchadore. Garcia put a dragon tamer on Hechicero, while McGuinness locked in another London Dungeon on Moriarty.

Hechicero was about to tap, but Moriarty prevented it. McGuinness pulled back on the arm of Moriarty and that was it, the ROH Pure Champion was forced to tap out. McGuinness gets the victory and the shot at Zack Sabre Jr at Forbidden Door.

Match Result: Nigel McGuinness defeated Lee Moriarty, Daniel Garcia and Hechicero.

After the match, McGuinness was asked by Rene Paquette if he felt ready and McGuinness said that it was a dream match for everyone. McGuinness then took a moment to congratulate Garcia in particular, saying he gave his all. A somber Garcia went to leave the ring, but McGuinness asked him to corner for him in London. Garcia shook his hand and said that he would. FRIENDSHIP!!

Wow, that was INCREDIBLE. If they put it on Youtube or somewhere, take a few moments to check it out. I feel like I was only able to recap about 2/3rds of what was going on. It was like two matches were happening at the same time. Absolutely phenomenal, possible match of the year in my humble opinion.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Former Oro Mensah debuts, Lee Moriarty in action

The former Oro Mensah in WWE NXT makes his debut in Ring of Honor tonight as part of this week’s HonorClub show.

The 29-year-old now going by “The Main Man” Oro will have tough competition as he takes on Tomohiro Ishii.

Ring of Honor Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will battle CMLL’s Xelhua in a Proving Ground match where if the challenger beats or draws the champion, they earn a future title shot.

In an eight-man tag team match, Team CMLL (the debuting Difunto, Volador Jr., The Beast Mortos & Hechicero) will take on AR Fox, Serpentico, Angelico, and Alex Zayne.

Leila Grey takes on Taya Valkyrie while Gringo Loco takes on Willie Mack in a rematch from 2023.

The card is rounded out by Lance Archer in action against an opponent(s) to be named.

**********

Thursday night is here and that means it’s time for more hot, saucy Ring of Honor Action!

Alex Zayne, AR Fox & Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs. Difunto, Hechicero, The Beast Mortos & Volador Jr.

And what better way to kick off a show than with Luchadores and plenty of ’em! Hechicero has a date with Bandido for the ROH world title at the end of the month, Mortos is mor-tastic and SAP are everlasting favorites. This should be fun!

Angelico and Hechicero started things off. Angelico’s agility was a nice offset to Hechicero’s power, which was on display through a flurry of technical chain wrestling. Respect was shown as the two traded dance moves as well.

Difunto tagged in to face Fox and if you haven’t seen Difunto, it’s worth a google. He’s kind of a caveman/skeleton/sasquach and he’s got a really unique luchadore style. It threw Fox off and he tagged in Zayne. To meet him though was Mortos, who you never want to see staring you down.

Zayne stacked Mortos up in the corner for a hurricanrana, followed by some knees to the back and a senton. Mortos actually showed some vulnerability and tagged in Volador to face Serpentico. Volador looked a little sluggish as Serpentico bounced around him, but all he was able to get out of it was a two count.

Serpentico went for a dive through the ropes, but Lance Archer, who had accompanied Hechicero tot he ring, tripped him up, sparking an all hands on deck brawl. Angelico was the only one left standing and Difunto sent him into the corner with a dropkick. Angelico got quadruple teamed, until a dropkick sent him out of the ring.

Zayne jumped in but met the same fate, getting stacked in the corner. Difunto went coast to coast from the top turnbuckle and dropkicked him. Hechicero continued the assault until Zayne rolled out and was replaced by Fox. Clearly one team has seen too many Segal movies as they keep trying to attack one at a time.

Fox found his footing though, delivering elbows to Difunto and Mortos in the corners, followed by a cutter to Mortos. Fox and Zanye hit sentons from the top rope on Hechicero one after the other, but just a two count.

SAP cleared the ring, leaving Zayne and Hechicero in the ring. Hechicero climbed the ladder and hit a big knee on Zayne’s face. The two rolled through a bunch of pinning combinations with Hechicero finally able to nail Zayne’s shoulders to the mat and pick up the win.

Match Result: Difunto, Hechicero, The Beast Mortos & Volador Jr. defeated Alex Zayne, AR Fox & Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico)

A beat down began after the match, but the music of Bandido hit and the Champion came to the ring with back up. Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii and more came down and cleared out the bad guys.

-Next, the Premier Athletes were in the back trying to cut promos in spanish regarding their upcoming CMLL match. Daivari got frustrated until Sterling pointed out that the Athletes are undefeated in Lucha Rules matches. Which, I supposed, technically is true.

Willie Mack vs Gringo Loco

Then, it was time for my favorite part of any wrestling show: the big guys hitting each other bigly match! Mack and Loco almost seem like they could be alternate dimension versions of each other as they are both big men who move with crazy agility.

The crowd was hot as they locked up with Loco putting on a wristlock. Mack flipped it around and seemed to threaten Loco’s junk, causing the luchadore to back off. The two exchanged a really fun chain ending with a slam attempt from Mack that Loco reversed mid air and landed on his feet.

“It’s kind of like that movie, The Parent Trap” interjected Ian Riccaboni as Loco and Mack found themselves at another stalemate. This time, Loco asked Mack to turn this into a dance contest and the two gyrated their hips, with the winner being, I dunno, Loco I guess.

Mack sent Loco to the outside and went for a dive, but Loco moved, stopping Mack short and leading to him casually humping the ring. Buy it dinner first, Mack!

Eventually the wrestling started with Loco going up top and hitting a swichfoot moonsault, but took too much time and Mack rolled out of the way. He hopped to his feet and delivered a shoulder block to Loco. Mack went up top but Loco followed him, dragging him down with a tightrope spanish fly!

Loco leapt off the rope, but Mack grabbed him and hit a stunner followed by shining wizard. Mack then went up top for a frog splash and that put Loco down for good (as it would any human).

Match Result: Willie Mack defeated Gringo Loco

That was a cool match, but man was it ever slow. Both these guys can move fast when they need to so it really stands out when they slow it down. Still great though.

Lance Archer vs Ren Jones

Archer appeared with his music, dragging Jones down the entrance ramp, bouncing his head off of pretty much anything he could find. Jones tried to fight back, but Archer chopped him against the barricade again and again.

Finally, Archer threw Jones in the ring and the bell rang, just in time for Archer to deliver half a dozen big elbows in the corner. Archer lifted Jones from the top rope and hit a blackout in the middle of the ring, ending the match before it began, kind of.

Match Result: Lance Archer defeated Ren Jones

Leila Grey (w/Christopher Daniels) vs. Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV, Mansoor & Mason Madden)

I understand Grey’s instinct to bring Daniels with her as backup, but they are still outnumbered 2-to-1 so maybe bring a few more friends next time? SkyFlight came out on the entrance ramp, but not down to the ring. Which seemed weird.

Grey and Valkyrie kicked things off like you’d expect, with a posedown followed by some hard chops from Grey. Grey sent Valkyrie into the corner and delivered a hard lariat for a two count. TV and Daniels shouted encouragement from ringside.

TV grabbed Grey’s ankle under the ropes, giving Valkyrie an opening to take control. She stopmed Grey’s leg, working it over. Valkyrie sent Grey to the outside, giving her a chance to make out with TV. Valkyrie then threw Grey back into the ring, locking in a wristlock-based abdominal stretch.

Grey fought out of it though, sending Valkyrie to the mat with a clothesline, and then the two hit simultaneous head slams, knocking themselves both down. The two traded punches with Grey hitting a surprise cutter, but only getting a two count.

TV jumped up on the ring apron to cause a distraction, but Daniels ran around and pulled him down. That gave Grey an opening for another cutter into a dragon sleeper. Valkyrie held on as long as she could, but ended up being forced to tap out.

Match result: Leila Grey defeated Taya Valkyrie

-Backstage, Willie Mack mused that since he was back on ROH TV, maybe he should go for that TV title? That summoned Nick Wayne, who dared Mack to try and take it from him. This seemed to confuse Mack, but I assume it means a match at some point. Or maybe not. You never know.

Tomohiro Ishii vs Oro

Oro is making his ROH debut here after a spell in NXT. The bad news is that he clearly drew the short straw and has to face the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion and turtleneck enthusiast, Ishii in said debut.

Ishii refused a code of honor, choosing instead to send Oro into the ropes. Oro was looking to make an impression here, but Ishii was having none of it, absorbing offense and dishing out punishment. Oro went up top for a splash but Ishii caught him on the way down.

Oro picked up the speed, trying to out-pace Ishii with some backflip kicks and a chop that seemed to actually hurt Ishii, which is rare. Oro’s strikes were just as hard as Ishii, causing the NJPW star to stagger as Oro hit a suplex. This is impressive as I feel that Ishii has way more density and atomic weight than the average human.

Ishii delivered a suplex of his own as it was Ishii’s turn to chop in the corner. Ishii planted Oro with a big lariat, but couldn’t land the brainbuster. Oro hit a springboard moonsault and dragon suplex, but only got a two count.

The two traded headbutts and shots in the center of the ring with Oro coming out on top to deliver a springboard thrust kick. Oro tried a hammerlock, but Ishii lariated him into next week and hit that brain buster. Oro was out and Ishii picked up the victory.

Match Result: Tomohiro Ishii defeated Oro

I gotta say, a solid debut for Oro. He kept pace with Ishii and it was in no way a one-sided affair. He flew a little too close to the sun, but looked good doing it.

ROH Pure Title Proving Ground Match: Lee Moriarty [c] vs. Xelhua

Main Event, Pure Rules and Proving Ground time! Moriarty has held that Pure title for well over a year at this point, defeating some pretty impressive challengers. For those that need a reminder, both men get three rope breaks, one closed fist and a 10 minute time limit. If the challenger can win or last the 10 minutes they earn a future title shot.

The match started with Moriarty keeping things slow, looking to work the clock. Xelhua hit a standing frog splash though and the speed picked up. Moriarty lured him in for an ankle takedown and the two became an entanglement of limbs.

Moriarty came out on top as the two tried to overpower each other with roll throughs. Moriarty slapped on a cobra lock and Xelhua had to use a rope break at 6:44. Xelhua tied up Moriarty in a crazy pretzel, but Moriarty was able to get his foot on the rope for a break at 5:25.

Xelhua wrenched Moriarty’s knee, working the leg. Moriarty hit a springbaord forearm, but it was only a two count. Moriarty put a modified facelock figure four on Xelhua, but was too close to the ropes and at 3:54, Xelhua used his second rope break.

Things picked up with a series of arm drags into a backbreaker from Xelhua. He hit an inside cloverleaf next, forcing a second rope break from Moriarty at 2:34. Time was definitely ticking away and Moriarty hit a straightjacket into a Border City Strech. Xelhua managed to worm out of it, and locked in a crazy waist surfboard hold.

With barely 90 seconds left, the two started trading shots with Moriarty ending it with a flurry of forearms and a second Border City Stretch. Xelhua had nowhere to go, but wiggled free, locking Moriarty in a hold as the clock ticked down to 15 seconds.

Moriarty was trapped, but held on until the time expired. That means that Xelhua has earned a future shot at the ROH Pure Title.

Match Result: Lee Moriary vs Xelhua went to a time limit draw

You don’t see Moriarty on the losing end of a proving ground match very often! Cool way to end the show!

AEW & ROH star to hold solo art exhibition in Los Angeles

Lee Moriarty is holding his own art exhibit next month.

It was announced via press release on Wednesday that the ROH Pure Champion will be holding an exhibit titled Balance. It will run at Night Gallery in Los Angeles, opening on September 27 and running through October 18. The exhibition is curated by Adam Abdalla, the founder of Orange Crush: The Journal of Art & Wrestling.

“Moriarty’s portraits reveal a different side of luchadors, known for their elaborate masks and larger-than-life personas typically seen in the ring,” the press release reads. “Here, they’re shown in quiet, everyday moments: one lounges in a beach chair beneath the sun; another builds a snowman on a quiet winter afternoon; a third peers through binoculars, birdwatching in a peaceful clearing.”

Moriarty previously showed his work at NADA Miami last year. The press release notes that one of Moriarty’s works was later acquired by the Perez Art Museum in Miami.

On this week’s Collision, Moriarty will be in action to take on Daniel Garcia, Nigel McGuiness, and Hechicero in a four-way bout with the winner facing Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Championship at Forbidden Door.

Champion vs. champion match added to AEW Collision

AEW has a second official match added to Saturday’s live Collision from Chicago and like the first, it’s also for a championship.

Announced Thursday during Ring of Honor’s weekly TV show, TNT Champion Dustin Rhodes will have his first title defense since winning the gold at All In as he faces reigning Ring of Honor TV Champion Lee Moriarty whose title will not be on the line.

Rhodes won a four-way at All In for the vacant title, downing Kyle Fletcher, Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia. The title was vacated due to Adam Cole’s concussion suffered earlier that week.

Rhodes and Moriarty have never had a singles match, but were on opposite ends of an eight-man tag team match on the All In pre-show.

The 56-year-old is also one half of the ROH Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the ROH Six-Man Champions with Marshall & Ross Von Erich.

The next match or matches for the AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament are also expected for the show, but have yet to be announced.

Current AEW Collision lineup | Saturday, July 26 | Chicago, Illinois

  • ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defends against Alex Windsor
