AAA Triplemania XXX Tijuana notes: Ruleta de la Muerte, Bandido, Taya, Chik Tormenta

Triplemania XXX in Tijuana tonight had the semifinals of the Ruleta de la Muerte tournament, Chik Tormenta losing her mask, Bandido suffering an injury, and Fenix winning the Latin American and Cruiserweight titles.

Tonight’s show had Penta el 0 M and Villano IV lose their tournament matches, meaning they advance to the finals of the tournament where their masks will be on the line. That will take place at the final Triplemania event of the year in Mexico City on October 15. Blue Demon defeated Penta after a hammer shot to the head and hit a top rope destroyer through a table. Psycho Clown defeated Villano IV after an air raid clash through thumbtacks.

Fenix won the Latin American and Cruiserweight titles in a five-way match, defeating Latin American Champion Taurus, Laredo Kid, Bandido, and Hijo del Vikingo. Fenix pinned Taurus with a double foot stomp.

After the match, Bandido was stretchered out following a tower of doom spot where Bandido landed on his head. On Twitter, Bandido wrote on Instagram that his neck was not fractured but it was time for his body to rest.

Chik Tormenta lost her mask on tonight’s show, losing to Flammer in a singles match after the two were the last ones left in a cage match earlier in the show. Tormenta revealed herself as Cristina Azpeitia Ramirez of Guadalajara, Jalisco who has been wrestling for sixteen years.

Taya Valkyrie appeared on tonight’s show cutting a promo, eventually challenging AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa. On Twitter, Rosa accepted the challenge.

Chik Tormenta to make MLW debut at Azteca Underground tapings

A debut is set for MLW’s Azteca Underground tapings in Dallas.

It was announced on Wednesday that Chik Tormenta will make her MLW debut against Holidead in a women’s featherweight division match at the Azteca Underground tapings. The show is being held at Gilley’s Dallas on April 1, which is the Friday of WrestleMania week.

Tormenta currently holds the Lucha Libre AAA World Mixed Tag Team titles with Arez.

Cesar Duran has signed a women’s featherweight division clash: Chik Tormenta vs. Holidead for Friday, April 1 at Cesar Duran’s MLW AZTECA UNDERGROUND hosted by Gilley’s in Downtown Dallas with a special 2pm matinee, featuring an MLW Fusion TV taping and interactive experience.

The current AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion, the masked Chik Tormenta is considered the preeminent luchadora in Mexico. With a breathtaking arsenal of air attacks, including a double knee from the top rope onto her adversary’s chest but look out for her array of suplexes: all devastating.

A member of the notorious Los Nuevos Vipers in Mexico, Chik now looks to make her mark in Cesar’s cathedral of violence on April 1 at MLW AZTECA Underground. The question: is she ready for Holidead?

It was announced earlier this month that MLW will soon be introducing a Women’s Featherweight Championship title. The women’s division was launched in September of last year.

MLW will have two events at Gilley’s Dallas during WrestleMania week. A regular set of MLW tapings is set for Thursday, March 31.

The updated lineup for the Azteca Underground tapings is listed below:

  • Azteca Apocalypto match: LA Park vs. Jacob Fatu
  • Aerostar, Microman & El Dragon vs. Arez, Mini Abismo Negro, and a mystery partner
  • Octagon Jr. vs. Matt Cross
  • Chik Tormenta vs. Holidead

Triple threat match, full card announced for NWA Empower

The NWA has added a triple threat match to their upcoming EmPower pay-per-view, revealing the full card for the show.

Mickie James took to her Instagram to run down the entire card for the all women’s pay-per-view. She revealed that Kylie Rae will face AAA’s Chik Tormenta and AEW’s Diamante in a triple threat battle of the brands match. This will be both Tormenta’s and Diamante’s debut for the promotion.

The show is scheduled to take place at The Chase Park Plaza in St Louis, MO on August 28th. The card will be followed by NWA 73 which will take place at The Chase as well the following day.

The full card for the show is as followed:

  • NWA World Women’s title: Kamille vs. Leyla Hirsch
  • Impact Knockouts title: Deonna Purrazzo vs. Melina
