Matt Hardy says TNA changing time of Slammiversary to avoid AEW Forbidden Door was the “right move”

TNA star Matt Hardy recently discussed the fact that TNA Slammiversary, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 and NXT Great American Bash 2026 will all be taking place on Sunday, June 28th.

Speaking on his podcast, Hardy would say that Slammiversary having to change start time was the “right move” for the company, rather than trying to go head to head with Forbidden Door:

“TNA announces Slammiversary, then Forbidden Door is announced…we move earlier in that day, which is the right move for us, no doubt, we’re going on at four. Then all of a sudden, there’s NXT. There’s going to be three premium live events, what a night!”

That 4 p.m. start time for the PPV now avoids a direct head-to-head with Forbidden Door, which AEW
has advertised as having a 7 p.m. start. 7pm was the original start time for Slammiversary, but as Hardy recognises, it makes sense to not try and go head-to-head and potentially lose out on viewers.

AEW vs NXT vs TNA

NXT Great American Bash 2026, however, WILL be starting at 7 PM EST on The CW. This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen an NXT show go head-to-head with AEW. As is usually the case in recent head-to-head situations, it’s an NXT show on television competing with an AEW PPV event, as opposed to the old ‘Wednesday Night Wars’ between NXT and Dynamite.

It should be an intriguing night, especially when it comes to viewing figures on all three shows, and we’ll be keeping track of all three right here on f4wonline.com.

Matt Hardy would not be shocked to see TNA star move to WWE

TNA and former WWE star Matt Hardy recently discussed Mike Santana and the rumors that he could be leaving TNA when his contract is up. Speaking on his Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy said that we would not be shocked if Santana heads to WWE:

“I mean that, that, that wouldn’t surprise me. I would guess that’s probably Mike Santana’s ultimate goal [is] to work for WWE. You know, most kids who grew up loving wrestling, their goal is to work for WWE at some point, have a WrestleMania moment, whatever else. That [him going to WWE] wouldn’t shock me at all.”

It was reported last week that Santana’s TNA contract is set to expire sometime this July. WrestleVotes also recently revealed that there is “interest from the WWE side” in acquiring Santana, who is said to be well-regarded for his professionalism along with his work in the ring. The report says, while it isn’t known which brand he would land on if he does sign, WWE would like him to be on the main roster before the end of 2026.

Matt Hardy on TNA vs NXT vs AEW and NJPW

Hardy also discussed the fact that AEW Forbidden Door, TNA Slammiversary and NXT Great American Bash 2026 will all be taking place on Sunday, June 28th:

“What about that? TNA announces Slammiversary, then Forbidden Door is announced, and then TNA, we move earlier in that day, which is the right move for us, no doubt. We’re going on at four. And then all of a sudden, there’s NXT… Holy sh*t. There’s going to be three premium live events, what a night.”

Matt Hardy teases final tag team showdown with Cage & Cope after AEW Double or Nothing

Matt Hardy celebrated Cage and Cope’s AEW Double or Nothing win while teasing one final chapter between the legendary tag teams someday.

Hardy congratulated the new AEW Tag Team Champions with a throwback photo with them, himself and Jeff Hardy. He teased that they had ‘one more night of magic’ left in them potentially indicating a collision along the way.

“Congrats to @Christian4Peeps & @RatedRCope on becoming @AEW Tag Team Champs. Great stuff! Not sure where, not sure when.. But we’ve got ONE more night of magic left in us.”

The Hardy Boyz and Cage & Cope were instrumental to WWE’s tag team division in the Attitude Era. They modified the division with intense and chaotic TLC and ladder matches, becoming must-see attractions for tag team gold. And their rivalries remain some of the most influential feuds in wrestling history.

The Hardy Boyz were reunited in AEW from 2020 to 2024 before returning to TNA where they are active competitors.

At AEW Double or Nothing on May 24, Cage and Cope defeated FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) in a New York Street Fight ‘I Quit’ match to win the titles. Had they lost, they would have been forced to retire as a tag team.

Matt Hardy explains how pro wrestlers unionizing could put smaller companies out of business

The idea of pro wrestlers unionizing has been a hot topic in 2026, with a number of WWE names reportedly being asked to take pay cuts by TKO in recent months. Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast, former WWE star Matt Hardy explained why unionizing could actually cause smaller promotions to go out of business, despite it being a positive for performers at the bigger promotions:

“Wrestling is so different [to traditional acting]. Like with WWE and AEW, with the financial backing that those two companies havee, that is something that could be feasible [unionizing], it could be possible there and I could see where they could unionize to a degree. But, it would be hard for other companies to do that…some other companies would be just out of business because they wouldn’t be able to to handle that. They wouldn’t be able to cover all that…covering a certain amount of insurance.

Matt Hardy on pro wrestling unionization

Hardy would go on to say that getting unionization would be great for the performers at bigger companies, as it could also mean that the independent contractor status at smaller promotions might have to TRULY be independent contractor deals: “As far as being able to have some sort of unionization, where there was some sort of control and people were regulated, that would be great. The smaller companies, I feel like they would have to kind of carve out their own niche where you would have to be independent contractors, but you would truly be independent contractors. I feel like myself and Jeff, we are like the epitome of independent contractors right now at TNA. As long as we do their TV dates, we’re all good. We can do whatever we want.”

Matt Hardy shares details on TNA Dark Side of the Ring episode

On his podcast this week, Matt Hardy provided some information on the upcoming season seven premiere of Dark Side of the Ring.

Dark Side of the Ring will return to Vice TV on July 7 when the new season begins with a three-part documentary on TNA Wrestling and its founder Jeff Jarrett. Matt Hardy noted that he and his brother Jeff recorded long-form interviews for the project, which will be a redemption story covering the loss of Jarrett’s first wife Jill and tag team partner Owen Hart, as well as his successful battle against addiction.

“In speaking with Jeff Jarrett, had a great conversation with him a couple months ago, and he told me they were talking about doing this, and they’re doing a Dark Side of the Ring, which is kind of a redemption story, which is very cool,” Hardy said on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy.

“We were sold on it. While we were out in Vegas, Jeff and I both did very long-form interviews talking about everything from the very beginning. When we first met Jeff Jarrett, interacting with him, him and Owen asking if they could put the Tag Team titles on us when we were wearing tights back in the day with hope and faith and plaids, just for a few weeks to kind of build us and make us. Go into everything that Jeff Jarrett has been through, losing his friend Owen, losing his first wife, how his life has been.”

It sounds like the documentary could also take a redemptive tone toward TNA, with Hardy saying he discussed how the promotion is now “thriving” on AMC.

“Even up to that with TNA, whenever we left, whenever we returned to WrestleMania 33, WWE, just the whole to-do. And it felt great to be a part of something that did feel like a redemption story,” Hardy said. “Because not only did we talk about how Jeff Jarrett came out the other end in a much better place and how he has gained everyone’s respect from what he has done, we talked about the condition of TNA right now, how it is in a good place and it is actually thriving on AMC.”

Hardy said he thinks this could be the “biggest star power” episode Dark Side of the Ring has ever produced with how many people they interviewed for the project. He and Jeff were both interviewed for more than two hours each.

The first two parts of the documentary will air on July 7, with the third following the week after that. Here is the full list of topics that will be covered in the season:

Dark Side of the Ring season seven topics —

  • Three-part episode on TNA Wrestling and Jeff Jarrett
  • Paul Orndorff
  • Big Boss Man
  • Missy Hyatt
  • Samoa Joe vs. Necro Butcher indie match from IWA-MS in 2005 and the personal animosity the two had toward each other
  • Zach Gowen
  • The Renegade (Rick Wilson), “an exotic dancer who had a brief run as [an] Ultimate Warrior knockoff.”

Broken Matt Hardy makes his return on TNA Impact

Broken Matt Hardy has returned to TNA Wrestling.

Matt Hardy has officially brought back his popular broken gimmick. On the latest April 30 episode of TNA Impact, Broken Matt Hardy returned to help his brother Jeff Hardy win his match against Vincent of The Righteous.

For weeks now, the Hardy Boyz have teased going back to their broken state. And now with Broken Matt’s return, things seem to be set in motion. Jeff Hardy also showed signs of returning to his character of Brother Nero.

Several years ago, in 2016, Matt Hardy introduced his Broken gimmick in TNA, which soon became extremely popular among the fans. However, after Matt joined WWE in 2017, he still possessed a limited version of the Broken gimmick, without much creative liberty. He still faced the same limitations when he joined AEW in 2020.

However, upon his return to TNA in 2024, fans saw Matt Hardy re-channel his broken character in his world title match against Moose, which also saw Jeff Hardy’s return to the promotion.

Carlos Silva ‘compensated’ TNA talents pulled from TNA-AEW matches

Just days before WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada, multiple scheduled TNA vs. AEW talent matches were scrapped by TNA President Carlos Silva.

As Silva called back his wrestlers, the announced cards were later changed. Silva’s decision received widespread backlash on the internet from fans as well as a few wrestlers. Recently speaking to Ariel Helwani, TNA legend Matt Hardy revealed how Silva “compensated” the TNA talents he pulled from their scheduled matches.

“The thing that I can tell you is the guys who he pulled out of those matches, he compensated them and paid them their full fee. I know he talked to Mike at Highspots and compensated him for the plane ticket and everything else. He did everything he could to try and make it right,” Hardy said.

He also opened up in the same interview and revealed how these matches should not have been booked in the first place based on WWE’s partnership with TNA. “But what should have happened most likely is that because we are partners with WWE, and AEW is this own entity that is a competing force, these matches probably shouldn’t have ever been cleared in the beginning.”

Matt Hardy feels AEW-TNA matches ‘probably shouldn’t have ever been cleared’ due to WWE partnership

WWE veteran Matt Hardy has shared his ‘honest thoughts’ on the AEW-TNA situation.

Earlier this month, during the WWE WrestleMania 42 weekend, fans saw several AEW vs. TNA matches get booked. However, the matches were soon scrapped after TNA President Carlos Silva called back his talent, thus effectively pulling them out of competition.

Recently, speaking to Ariel Helwani, a WWE veteran, Hardy opened up and claimed that those matches should not have been cleared in the first place. Hardy, who has wrestled across WWE, TNA, and AEW claimed, “In my honest opinion, I think if we are partners with WWE, and WWE has kind of laid it out how ‘we’re working together with TNA,’ and AEW is kind of its own entity, we probably from that point on should’ve said, ‘If you’re doing any bookings, we probably shouldn’t do TNA, AEW things.’

“That would have been my guess. These things happen, and I think in these finishes, they had things that were going to work for both parties when it was all said and done. It probably should have never been set is what I would say from the beginning. I think going forward, that would be the case now,” he said.

“If these things could have happened and all parties could have been happy, it would have been great if it could have continued and just let it go, especially because it was advertised. But what should have happened most likely is that because we are partners with WWE, and AEW is this own entity that is a competing force, these matches probably shouldn’t have ever been cleared in the beginning.”

The matches were booked across different promotions, and once they were pulled, the card was improvised with other matches.

Matt Hardy says WrestleMania 42 felt ‘very prostituted’ due to advertising

Matt Hardy gave his thoughts on WrestleMania 42 during a recent interview.

Hardy was a guest on The Ariel Helwani Show on Wednesday. During the interview, Hardy commented on the amount of advertising present at the show this year, saying that it caused the event to feel “very prostituted.”

Hardy said:

“It feels very mainstream. They have all the advertisements and everything else. It feels very different from standard WWE.

I think it’s hard for a lot of people to kind of grasp that WWE changes. I can say this being older, I sometimes hate change.”

Hardy added:

“It is definitely so evolved and so different from what the initial concept of WrestleMania was as an event. It felt very prostituted because all the ads and everything else.”

Hardy also commented on some WrestleMania matches being shorter this year, saying:

“When you go to these pay-per-views like WrestleMania, if you have these big matches between big stars, like these matches need to be good. They need to have time. They may need to have a good payoff at that point because that’s what you’re building to.

“I feel like the TV is the vehicle that you build these matches and you tell stories. You don’t have to give everything there. But once you get to these pay-per-views and WrestleMania, that’s where you have to deliver the goods.”

Hardy was also asked about the current status of the TNA and WWE relationship. Hardy said that now that WrestleMania is out of the way, he believes the relationship between the two companies will heat back up.

Hardy said:

“Everything was focused on WrestleMania. Now that it has come and gone, and they’ve kind of cleaned house a little bit, I would imagine the TNA x WWE/NXT relationship will probably heat back up going forward.”

The Hardys continue to work with Vincent and Dutch, The Righteous, in TNA Wrestling at the moment. Jeff Hardy is scheduled to wrestle Vincent on this week’s episode of Impact. Matt Hardy is coming off a loss to Dutch on last week’s episode.

Dani Luna, Tables match for TNA titles and more part of next week’s Impact lineup

Following a successful and eventful April 2nd episode of TNA Impact, several new matches were announced for next week’s episode ahead of the upcoming TNA Rebellion event.

The next episode of TNA Wrestling’s Thursday Night Impact is set to air on April 9, 2026. It was recently announced that next week, Dani Luna will take on Jada Stone. Interestingly, Luna was recently granted her release by TNA after she had requested it.

The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) will also be putting the TNA World Tag Team titles on the line against The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch). BDE and Frankie Kazarian will also face each other in a singles match.

In a digital exclusive footage release on TNA’s social media, it was also announced that Elayna Black will take on Myla Grace next week on the April 9 episode of TNA Impact.

TNA Impact next week’s lineup

  • The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) (c) vs. The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) in a tables match for the TNA World Tag Team titles
  • Elayna Black vs. Myla Grace
  • BDE vs. Frankie Kazarian

Matt Hardy clarifies WWE ‘home’ comment: ‘Jeff & I have two homes’

Matt Hardy has clarified his recent comments where he referred to WWE as The Hardy Boys’ “home.”

Following Austin Theory and Logan Paul winning the tag team titles on WWE Raw this week, Hardy posted on social media:

“It’s a travesty to watch the @WWEUsos get beaten by @LoganPaul & @_Theory1 for the @WWE Tag Team Titles on #WWERAW. I bet the @WrestleMania 42 crowd would go CRAZY if The Hardy Boyz beat their ass & brought the titles back home to our home, the WWE.”

On Wednesday, Hardy clarified that he and his brother have two homes: WWE and TNA Wrestling.

Hardy wrote:

“Jeff & I have 2 homes – TNA & WWE WWE is our childhood home. It’s where we grew up, where we learned to become superstar pro wrestlers, where we both succeeded & failed in life & work. Without WWE, Jeff & I aren’t looked at as the GOATs. TNA is our adult home. TNA has allowed us to be men that bet on themselves & either sink or swim on their own. Without TNA, there’s no #BROKEN Matt, Brother Nero, Anti-Christ, Willow or Big Money Matt. We’re thrilled our homes are partners together, making anything a possibility for House Hardy.”

Matt and Jeff Hardy are set for their next defense of the TNA World Tag Team Championships. They will defend against Cedric Alexander and Bear Bronson of The System at TNA Rebellion on April 11, 2026, at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Matt Hardy reacts to WWE Raw Tag Team title change

Matt Hardy, a veteran of the tag team division, reacted to The Vision’s victory over The Usos on Raw.

Hardy commented on Logan Paul and Austin Theory’s WWE Tag Team Title win while teasing a return for WrestleMania 42. He cited the fans would go wild if The Hardy Boyz targeted their titles at the Premium Live Event next month.

“It’s a travesty to watch the @WWEUsos get beaten by @LoganPaul & @_Theory1 for the @WWE Tag Team Titles on #WWERAW. I bet the@WrestleMania 42 crowd would go CRAZY if The Hardy Boyz beat their ass & brought the titles back home to our home, the WWE.” tweeted Matt Hardy.

Matt and Jeff Hardy’s surprise return at WrestleMania 33 is considered one of the best fan-favorite moments in WWE. They were a mystery tag team added at the last minute to the Raw Tag Team Championship ladder match.

The brothers competed on NXT last year amid the brand’s partnership with TNA. They are in their fourth reign as TNA World Tag Team Champions.

In WWE, The Vision were persistent in their pursuit of tag team gold backed by Paul Heyman. LA Knight was ringside at commentary during the Raw title match.

Chaos erupted when Logan Paul’s mother handed him brass knuckles to use in the match but Knight prompted to stop him. IShowSpeed got involved when he fell over the barricade and accidentally knocked out Knight with the brass knuckles. Paul used the weapon against The Usos. And ultimately leading Theory to pin Jimmy Uso.

New number one contenders determined for TNA World Tag Team titles

TNA World Tag Team Champions Jeff and Matt Hardy now have a new challenge ahead of them.

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, episode of TNA Impact, The System (Brian Myers & Bear Bronson) faced off against the Righteous (Vincent & Dutch), Sinner and Saint(Judas Icarus & Travis Williams), and Rich Swann and BDE in a Four-Way tag team number one contenders match for the TNA World Tag Team titles.

In the final moments, Myers and Bronson teamed up on BDE to keep him down for the three-count pinfall. Myers and Bronson of The System are now the number one contenders for Jeff and Matt Hardy’s TNA World Tag Team titles.

Despite the win tonight, it is currently not confirmed when Myers and Bronson of The System will face Jeff and Matt Hardy for the TNA World Tag Team titles.

Jeff & Matt Hardy confirm their WWE 2K26 addition

After years away from WWE 2K video games, Jeff and Matt Hardy are set to be back.

Hours before the early access launch, WWE 2K26 uploaded a video on their social media announcing the return of The Hardys to the video game franchise.

“Jeff and I [Matt Hardy] are very excited to announce that the goats, Matt and Jeff, The Hardys, The Hardy Boyz are officially in WWE’s 2K26.”

“We are joining the roster with season 4 Ringside Pass, coming in July,” Jeff Hardy added. Matt Hardy was last seen in WWE 2K20 while Jeff Hardy was last part of WWE 2K22.

While exact dates have not been confirmed, WWE 2K26 Ringside Pass Season 4 is scheduled to release in July 2026. This year’s game also includes a variety of new wrestlers from AAA, who are set to be a part of the Ringside Pass, including Psycho Clown, Mr.Iguana, Lady Flammer, and more.

WWE veteran Kelly Kelly and Torrie Wilson are also set to be part of the Ringside Pass Season 2 and 3. WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella has also been announced as a part of the Ringside Pass Season 5. Typhoon and Earthquake are also joining 2K26 via Ringside Pass Season 6.

Reby Hardy calls out fans for trespassing, revealing family’s address in TikTok video

Image: Reby Hardy

Reby Hardy, former wrestler and wife of TNA star Matt Hardy, has publicly condemned fans for trespassing on their private property after a TikTok video surfaced revealing their home address.

Responding in the video, she addressed the fans as the incident has renewed concerns about wrestler safety and fan boundaries:

“Don’t do this. Everybody here has said this so many times: nobody likes this, nobody wants this. Don’t do this. Hardy Boyz are not gonna come outside and talk to you. Actually, they’re gonna call me every time. They’re gonna call me, and I’m gonna fight people, and I’m tired of doing it.”

“Would you wanna be on high alert every single time you stepped outside your front door, like, ‘oh, is there people here?’ Like, that’s crazy. This is not like we live in Hollywood, and there’s like bus tours. Like, ‘come see where these famous people live.’ We live in the middle of nowhere. Don’t do this, don’t encourage this. Nobody wants this. Don’t do this.”

Wrestlers have become more vocal about inappropriate fan interactions at airports, conventions, social media and other places in recent years with Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Saraya and Asuka all making comments in 2025.
