Kevin Knight wins TNT title at AEW Dynasty

A new TNT Champion has been crowned.

Kevin Knight emerged as the surprise winner of the Casino Gauntlet match and the vacant TNT title during Sunday’s AEW Dynasty, scoring the pinfall over Daniel Garcia after hitting the UFO splash.

Knight’s win cements him as a singles champion 24 hours after he, Mistico, and Speedball Mike Bailey lost the Trios titles to The Dogs (David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, and Clark Connors) on AEW Collision.

After the match, Knight celebrated his title win while his tag team partner Mike Bailey appeared dejected at ringside, failing to win the title in his home country.

Former champion Tommaso Ciampa and Rush started the match Over time Bandido, Bailey, El Clon, PAC, Daniel Garcia, Anthony Bowens, Knight, and Wheeler Yuta emerged. Knight scored the win over Garcia while Bailey was on the apron.

The title was declared vacant after former champion Kyle Fletcher suffered an injury to his foot late last month on an episode of Collision. The TNT title was soon declared vacant and the Casino Gauntlet match was announced.

TNT title vacated as plan to crown new champion unveiled for AEW Dynasty

The reported meniscus injury to Kyle Fletcher has resulted in him officially being stripped of the TNT Championship.

However, it won’t be long before the new champion is crowned as it will take place this Sunday at AEW Dynasty in a Casino gauntlet match.

The news was announced shortly before Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite with a match between Tommaso Ciampa and Mascara Dorada taking place on the show to determine the first entrant. Ciampa, a former TNT Champion, won the match and will enter first.

The second entrant will be determined on Saturday’s Collision in a match between Rush and Anthony Bowens.

Fletcher injured himself on the March 28 episode of Collision as he and Mark Davis picked up a win over The Rascalz. Fightful reported this past week that Fletcher sustained a meniscus injury in addition to other undisclosed “additional injuries” that are expected to keep him out of action for some time.

Fletcher’s second run with the title began less than two months ago with his win over Ciampa. He had three successful title defenses with the last coming on March 18.

The end of this week’s Collision saw Tommaso Ciampa defend the TNT title in a three-way against Roderick Strong and Claudio Castagnoli. After the match, Kyle Fletcher came out and issued a challenge for the next episode of Dynamite, saying if Ciampa wanted to be where the best wrestle, he’d have to go through him. The two agreed to the new title match.

Fletcher was influenced by Kazuchika Okada earlier in the show to go after the TNT title, saying that they could both be champions in the Don Callis Family.

The stipulation for the AEW Women’s Championship match was also set. As Kris Statlander was being interviewed in the ring, Thekla and the Sisters of Sin came out and attacked the champion, with Thekla whipping the back of Statlander with a strap. Next week on the January 10th edition of AEW Collision, fans will witness Mark Briscoe defend his TNT Championship.

Tonight, on the January 3rd edition of Collision, Hechicero and Komander competed against each other for a chance to face Briscoe for the TNT title. Komander had almost secured the bout before Hechicero’s fellow Don Callis Family member and AEW’s latest debutant, El Clon, cost him the opportunity.

Following his help from El Clon, Hechicero won the match and secured himself an opportunity for the TNT Championship against Briscoe, next week on Collision. Earlier in the night, El Clon also made his official AEW debut.

43-days into his title reign, Briscoe defeated Kyle Fletcher at AEW Full Gear to win the Championship and has since then defended the title just once, against Daniel Garcia. Next week’s title defense against Hechicero will mark Briscoe’s second TNT title defense.

TNT title stipulation match set for Thursday’s AEW Collision

A match for the TNT Championship is now set for next week’s AEW Collision.

After Rhodes successfully defended the title against Lee Moriarty on Saturday, Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher came to the ring. Fletcher said he was owed a one-on-one title match and wouldn’t allow anyone else to challenge for the title. Rhodes agreed to the match, but said it would be under a Chicago street fight stipulation.

The match was later made official for the next episode of AEW Collision. It will air on Thursday as WWE is set to hold their SummerSlam PLE next Saturday and Sunday.

Rhodes won the title in a surprise at AEW All In earlier this month in a match he originally wasn’t scheduled to be in. Adam Cole was to defend the title against Fletcher, but was injured on the final Collision before the event and gave a speech at All In where he said he was unsure when, or if, he’ll be able to return. The title was vacated and a four-way match between Rhodes, Fletcher, Sammy Guevara, and Daniel Garcia was announced, with Rhodes winning.

Here is the updated lineup for next week’s Collision:

In a four-way match to crown a new champion, Rhodes countered Daniel Garcia’s dragon tamer submission into a flash pin, scoring the pinfall and his first AEW title in a match that also featured Rhodes’ tag team partner Sammy Guevara and Kyle Fletcher.

After the match, an emotional Rhodes took his time before eventually getting to his feet and taking the championship from the referee. Nephews Wyatt and Wayne Rhodes came to the ring to celebrate along with Ross & Marshall Von Erich. Guevara at first was upset about how the match went down, but eventually shook hands with Rhodes as the new champion continued to celebrate his title victory.

Shortly before All In began on Saturday, it was announced that Adam Cole would have to vacate the TNT Championship that he was set to defend on the show against Fletcher. In a promo that took place right before the match, an emotional Cole announced that he was out of action due to injury and wasn’t sure if he would be able to return to wrestling.

Rhodes is one third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions with The Von Erichs and also holds the ROH Tag Team titles with Guevara.

Daniel Garcia vs. Adam Cole TNT title rematch set for AEW Dynasty

A third match for the TNT title is set for AEW Dynasty.

During Saturday’s Collision, it was confirmed that TNT Champion Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole will meet once again next Sunday. This time around, there will be no interference and no time limit, ensuring that there will be a winner.

Cole and Garcia met each other in the ring on Saturday, upset about their last two matches that ended up without a winner. Cole said that he didn’t want to end their issues with a draw. Garcia admitted that it was eating him up that he couldn’t beat Cole. Matt Menard, who accompanied Garcia, told him that Cole didn’t need any more shots at the title. Garcia agreed that he didn’t have to give Cole another match, but said he needed to, telling Cole that the better man will win and it will be him.

Their first match on March 1 ended in a no contest when Shane Taylor Promotions ran out and attacked both men. The two then faced off in a rematch on Collision Slam Dunk Saturday last weekend that ended in a time limit draw.

Here’s the updated lineup for Sunday, April 6th in Philadelphia, PA:

TNT Championship rematch announced for AEW Collision Slam Dunk

Two matches are set for next week’s editions of AEW Collision.

It was announced on Saturday that Daniel Garcia will defend the TNT Championship against Adam Cole on Collision Slam Dunk Saturday in a match where everyone will be banned from ringside. Meanwhile, a match pitting Dralistico & The Beast Mortos against Hologram & Komander will take place the following day on Collision Slam Dunk Sunday.

After Garcia retained his title the first time around due to a no contest, Adam Cole met with Garcia last week and said he wanted a rematch, though first he wanted to see how Garcia did against Lee Moriarty. In the main event of last week’s Collision, Garcia defeated Moriarty to retain the title.

Komander & Hologram have formed a team in recent weeks setting their sights on LFI, who have jumped the two on multiple occasions. During a vignette highlighting the team on Collision, Alex Abrahantes issued the challenge to LFI on behalf of the Lucha Stars.

Collision will be split into two one-hour shows next week as they will air coast-to-coast at 11 pm ET immediately following coverage of the second round of the men’s March Madness college basketball tournament.

Here are the lineups for next weekend’s shows:

Slam Dunk Saturday:

  • TNT Championship, everyone banned from ringside: Daniel Garcia defends against Adam Cole

Slam Dunk Sunday:

  • Hologram & Komander vs. LFI (Dralistico & The Beast Mortos)

Daniel Garcia wins TNT Championship at AEW Full Gear

Image: JJ Williams

A new TNT Champion has been crowned.

Daniel Garcia defeated Jack Perry at AEW Full Gear to win the championship for the first time. The finish of the match had Garcia chopping the chest of Perry, who reacted with a smile. Garcia responded with a piledriver then sank in the dragon tamer sharpshooter. Perry attempted to make it to the ropes, but Garcia dragged him back to the center of the ring and wrenched it in, eventually giving him the submission win.

Garcia celebrated his title victory, his first in AEW, by grabbing an AEW flag and wrapping it around him as he exited the ringside area. This ends Perry’s run with the title after 146 days, originally winning the TNT title in a ladder match at Forbidden Door back in June.

Last month, Garcia made his return to AEW and announced he had re-signed with the promotion, saying he was here to win gold. He focused on Jack Perry and the TNT Championship. Perry eventually agreed to a title match, but told Garcia that he wasn’t ready.

Jack Perry vs. Daniel Garcia TNT title match official for AEW Full Gear

The TNT title will be on the line at Full Gear.

It was confirmed during Collision that Jack Perry would be defending the TNT title against Daniel Garcia on November 23. After Perry defeated Action Andretti to retain the title, Garcia came out and officially challenged Perry, calling him an entitled nepo baby. Perry responded by saying he accepted the challenge but told Garcia that he wasn’t ready.

Later backstage, Daddy Magic was shown talking to Garcia, telling him that everyone knows he’s ready, Garcia just needs to prove them right. Garcia promised that he would.

Garcia announced back at WrestleDream that he had officially re-signed with AEW, and was looking to go for some gold. In the weeks since, he has confronted Perry backstage, making it clear he wanted a shot at his title.

Here’s the current card for Saturday, November 23rd in Newark, New Jersey:

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defends against Orange Cassidy
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Kris Statlander
  • TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Daniel Garcia
  • Jay White vs. Hangman Page
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Swerve Strickland

Jack Perry reveals new AEW TNT Championship belt design

Jack Perry has a new TNT Championship belt.

On Collision, Perry quickly defeated his opponent Danny Orion. After the match, he put Orion in a bodybag, making reference to his upcoming coffin match against Darby Allin at All In on August 25. He also threw his TNT Championship in the bodybag. After doing so, he revealed a new TNT Championship belt, which appeared to be blackened with red streaks in the center plate.

Perry won the title back at Forbidden Door in a ladder match. Weeks later, Darby Allin made his return, becoming one of the five men to challenge The Elite in a Blood and Guts match on the July 24 edition of Dynamite. Allin got Matthew Jackson to surrender the match after threatening to attack Jack Perry, who was handcuffed to the steel cage, with a steel chair. That was also where he managed to get the TNT title match for All In.

On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Allin was jumped by Perry as they brawled to the back. Perry managed to pin Allin’s shoulders after placing a retractable door on top of him. Perry was about to use a storage case to attack Allin’s prone head when he was stopped by security.

TNT Championship match added to AEW All In

A TNT Championship match has been added to the AEW All In lineup.

TNT title holder Jack Perry will defend against Darby Allin in London at Wembley Stadium at AEW All In on Sunday, August 25 as announced during Wednesday’s Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite.

Allin handcuffed Perry to the cage wall during the Team AEW vs. Team Elite Blood & Guts match on Wednesday’s episode, then doused the champion with gasoline.

Allin extorted both an All In title bout and the submission victory for Team AEW from EVP Matthew Jackson of Team Elite by threatening to set Perry on fire.

Allin previously set Perry on fire with a flamethrower during the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing in May.

Four bouts, all title matches, are set for All In to this point. The current pay-per-view lineup:

AEW All In, Sunday, August 25 —

  • AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland defends against Bryan Danielson
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm defends against Mariah May
  • AEW American Champion MJF defends against Will Ospreay
  • TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Darby Allin

Jack Perry wins vacant TNT Championship at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Jack Perry is the new TNT Champion.

Perry grabbed the title in a ladder match that took place at Sunday’s Forbidden Door. In a match full of wild bumps and crazy ladder spots, Perry got the win after striking Mark Briscoe with a ladder, stepping over him in order to climb up the ladder and grab the title, winning the championship for the first time.

The title had been declared vacant after Adam Copeland broke his leg after jumping off the steel cage at Double or Nothing. Soon after, The Elite stripped Copeland of the title and was set to declare Perry the champion when Christopher Daniels came out on behalf of Tony Khan. Daniels instead announced that qualifying matches would take place across AEW programming to determine the six people to enter the match. Perry defeated Dustin Rhodes to qualify.

Since returning to AEW at April’s Dynasty pay-per-view, Perry has aligned himself with The Elite and took part in laying out Tony Khan. Despite being lit on fire, he pinned Bryan Danielson in the Anarchy in the Arena match that took place at Double or Nothing.
