Amid his mysterious absence from the ring, Keith Lee is reassuring fans that he will return at some point.
It’s now been nearly two years since Lee last wrestled. An undisclosed injury forced him to be pulled from AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view at the end of 2023, and Lee said he would need to undergo double surgeries. Lee noted a couple of months ago that his health has been good “for quite some time.”
This week, Lee responded to a fan on social media and thanked them for their support. The 40-year-old Lee said an in-ring return “will certainly happen” for him, but he doesn’t know how or when that will be.
“You honor me. I appreciate you for that. All my gratitude. I’d like to take this moment to remind you, that you also, are boundless,” he tweeted to the fan. “Additionally, I’ll take a moment to reassure you that a return to the ring will certainly happen. Though I won’t posit how or when. Much love.”
Lee debuted for AEW in 2022 after having starred for WWE on the main roster and in NXT. He’s a one-time tag team champion during his AEW run.
The last match Lee had before this absence was a victory over Brian Cage on AEW Collision in December 2023.
Keith Lee is reassuring fans that his health is fine amid his ongoing absence from AEW programming.
“Again, I am quite fine,” Lee tweeted in response to a fan today. “It is not up to me when it comes to a return. But blessings to you as well.”
Lee also responded to someone who said they wanted to start a fan campaign to get him back on AEW TV.
“I’ve been good for quite some time, though I do appreciate the concern. But no campaign required,” he wrote. “Things happen the way they are suppose to, and eventually, the purpose will show itself.”
Lee did not wrestle for the entirety of 2024 and has not competed in 2025 so far. His most recent match took place on an episode of Collision in December 2023, defeating Brian Cage. He was supposed to wrestle at AEW’s World End pay-per-view at the end of 2023 before having to withdraw from the card due to an undisclosed injury. Lee said he had been dealing with the injury for more than a year and it had been “mostly well taken care of,” but the injury got worse leading into Worlds End. He noted in January 2024 that he would be undergoing double surgeries.
The 40-year-old Lee is a former AEW Tag Team Champion, holding the titles with Swerve Strickland in 2022. He previously held both the NXT Championship and NXT North American Championship during his WWE career. While with WWE, Lee navigated a scary health situation in 2021 when his heart became inflamed after battling COVID-19.
Stephanie McMahon and The Undertaker were among the attendees at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame.
During the Hall of Fame ceremony, McMahon was seen seated next to husband Triple H. She wore a hat with the ECW logo attached, similar to one worn when she became the in-storyline owner of ECW during the Invasion angle back in 2001. McMahon had not been seen on WWE television since she resigned as co-CEO of WWE in January of 2023 following Vince McMahon’s return to WWE as chairman.
The Undertaker made a surprise appearance during the ceremony, inducting Muhammad Ali into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Taylor Rotunda (Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy) and Mika Rotunda induced their father Mike Rotunda and uncle Barry Windham, the US Express.
Beautiful moment as the siblings of Bray Wyatt take a moment to remember him tonight before inducting their father and uncle into the WWE Hall of Fame. 🕊️🙏#WWEHOFpic.twitter.com/b3BN0HsAQE
When Paul Heyman came out for his Hall of Fame speech, former ECW stars Tommy Dreamer, The Dudley Boyz, and Rob Van Dam were seen in the audience.
Before the start of the show, AEW’s Keith Lee inadvertently appeared in the background during a CM Punk interview. He has been out of action since December with an undisclosed injury that kept him off AEW Worlds End, where he was set to face Swerve Strickland. He is married to current WWE star Mia Yim.
Shortly before the AEW Worlds End pay-per-view began on Saturday, Tony Khan announced that doctors would not be able to clear Keith Lee for Saturday’s match. Instead, Strickland will face Lee’s tag team partner Rhodes.
“Due to injury, AEW doctors can’t clear Keith Lee for his match tonight at Worlds End. His Naturally Limitless partner Dustin Rhodes has asked to step in to face Swerve TONIGHT,” Khan wrote on X.
Earlier on Saturday, Lee wrote on X that he has been dealing with an injury since Grand Slam 2022, but the injury has gotten worse since ROH Final Battle earlier this month.
“Today… I keep it very real with you guys,” he wrote. “I have been working through an injury since Arthur Ashe Stadium 2022. It has been mostly well taken care of. Things have been worse since Final Battle. I am trying to get through today for you guys, but I cannot promise anything.”

More matches have been announced for Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Keith Lee will face Swerve Strickland. In a backstage interview on Dynamite, Tony Schivone told Strickland that while Lee was at Dynamite, he had a contract for Strickland to sign in case he didn’t see Lee. Prince Nana was upset at the thought of the match, but Strickland said we’ll see if Lee shows up on Saturday.
A match between Andrade El Idolo and Miro was also made for the pay-per-view. Miro has been waiting to face Idolo ever since he agreed to be managed by CJ Perry. Miro, however, has said he doesn’t want to face Idolo because his wife is managing him, but because Idolo was “an a**hole”.
An eight-man tag team match was confirmed, as Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Sting, and Darby Allin will team together to take on the Don Callis Family of Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Kyle Fletcher. Guevara turned on Callis and reunited with Jericho on Wednesday after Callis gave him an ultimatum between his new family or the Don Callis family.
A new Zero Hour match has also been made, where a 20-person battle royale will take place. The winner of that match will get a TNT title match anywhere at any time. The FTW rules match for the FTW title between champion Hook and challenger Wheeler Yuta has also been confirmed for Zero Hour.
Here is the updated lineup for Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view:

Keith Lee is heading to Dynamite with one person in mind.
On Saturday’s Collision, Lee defeated Brian Cage, part of the Mogul Embassy, despite Prince Nana pulling out a cinder block towards the end of the match. After the match, Lee brought up the incident from last year in which Lee was taken out with a cinder block by Strickland, without mentioning Strickland’s name. Lee said he had been trying to send a message for weeks, but “he” wouldn’t listen, so at Dynamite he promised to tear down a house brick by brick.
Strickland will be in the Continental Classic Blue League finals, facing Jon Moxley and Jay White in a three-way match.
In recent weeks, Lee has been alluding to “him” in regards to a future opponent. After he defeated Shane Taylor at Final Battle, he revealed that “he” wasn’t Taylor. On last week’s Collision, he confronted Cage and Nana, telling them to tell “him” that he was tired of waiting.
Here’s the current lineup for the New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite from Orlando, Florida:
Continental Classic Gold League finals: Jon Moxley vs. Jay White vs. Swerve Strickland
Continental Classic Blue League finals: Bryan Danielson vs. Eddie Kingston
ROH Tag Team Champions MJF & Samoa Joe defend against The Devil’s Henchmen
Shane Taylor and Keith Lee will meet at Final Battle.
Lexi Nair asked Lee on Saturday’s Collision who he was referring to last week when mentioning wanting to face “him”. As Lee was about to speak, Shane Taylor walked up and said their tag match last year didn’t solve anything. He challenged Lee to a match for Final Battle, with Lee accepting. Final Battle is set to take place on December 15 in Garland, Texas.
At last year’s Final Battle, the former tag team partners in ROH squared off in a tag match. Lee and Swerve Strickland, who were teaming at the time, were successful in defeating Taylor and JD Griffey. In the last year, Lee and Strickland split as a team after Strickland turned on Lee, though they never had a match against one another. Taylor has continued to wrestle in ROH, recently accepting Lee Moriarty as the newest member of Shane Taylor Promotions.
Here is the updated card for ROH Final Battle, which will air exclusively on ROH HonorClub:
ROH Women’s Champion Athena defends against Billie Starkz
Survival of the Fittest finals for the ROH Television Championship: Dalton Castle vs. Komander vs. 4 others
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) and House of Black (Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews) vs. Komander & Gravity have also been added to the card for tonight’s Collision. Plus, we’ll hear from Adam Copeland on the show and Tony Schiavone will interview Ricky Starks & Big Bill.

A Ring of Honor TV title match between Samoa Joe and Keith Lee is official for this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite along with several other new additions.
Lee issued the challenge on Saturday’s AEW Collision in a backstage segment where Joe was recognized for being the longest-reigning ROH TV Champion ever. Joe said he had beaten everyone to which Lee retorted that he hadn’t beat him.
This will be the first time the two have squared off. They have shared the ring only once, that being in 2020 WWE Royal Rumble match.
After nine months on the injured list, Red Velvet will make her return to action as she faces Julia Hart. Velvet’s last match was in February when she lost to then-TBS Champion Jade Cargill while Hart’s recent long winning streak came to an end against current champion Kris Statlander at last month’s WrestleDream.
Also made Saturday was Jay White vs. Mark Briscoe. White is looking to continue his undefeated streak in AEW on his path to a shot at AEW World Champion MJF at this month’s Full Gear. Briscoe returned to action on Collision in a tag team match — his first in-ring action since late-June when took time off with a knee injury.
Swerve Strickland will go one-on-one with Penta El Zero Miedo after a backstage confrontation on Collision with Strickland, Prince Nana and Alex Abrahantes. The two have shared the ring several times dating back as far as 2015 in Lucha Underground. This will be their first-ever singles match in AEW and their first since a December 2018 indie.
After a win over AR Fox on Collision, Strickland is preparing for a rematch with Hangman Page at Full Gear while Penta is coming off a three-way victory over El Hijo del Vikingo and Komander on Friday’s Rampage.
The four new additions join the previously announced World title match between champion MJF and Daniel Garcia.
Here’s the current lineup for Portland, Oregon:
AEW World Champion MJF defends against Daniel Garcia
ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defends against Keith Lee
Carmelo Hayes’ challenger for Heatwave is set to be determined tonight on NXT.
Wes Lee battles Dijak in an NXT Championship number one contender’s match on tonight’s show. The winner will get their shot against Hayes on the special Heatwave edition of NXT next Tuesday.
Gold will be up for grabs as The Dyad challenge Tony D’Angelo & Stacks for the NXT Tag Team titles in tonight’s opening match. It’s the first defense for D’Angelo & Stacks since they won the championships from Gallus at Great American Bash.
Mustafa Ali is on a campaign to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship. Tonight, Ali has stated that he has an important announcement to make.
Ahead of facing Ilja Dragunov at Heatwave, Trick Williams will be in action against Drew Gulak tonight. Dana Brooke vs. Blair Davenport and Tyler Bate vs. Joe Coffey have also been announced.
Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
A tag team title match opens the show live from a soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando.
NXT Tag Team Champions The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) defeated The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler with Joe Gacy, Ava and The Schism) to retain their titles
D’Angelo pinned Fowler after outside interference by masked assailants presumed to be the Creeds.
Joining The Dyad at ringside were Joe Gacy and Ava as usual, but they are also joined by a bunch of Schism members wearing masks that surround the ring like de facto lumberjacks. That would play into the finish.
Stacks got to shine a lot in the early portion of the match, including him doing a swan dive over the ropes. He was later cut off and sent crashing into the announce desk, just before the show cuts to its first commercial break.
The match goes through the split-screen break, with Stacks being worked over throughout. The heels continue to work over Stacks when the show returns from the break. Stacks gets a visual pin in a hope spot, but the referee is distracted by Tony D.
They build to a hot tag that brings in “The Don” to clean house. The Dyad bump and feed. Tony D is cut off after a blind tag by The Dyad. Suddenly, out comes Ivy Nile. The Schism lumberjacks form a line to block Nile from getting into the ring. Meanwhile, two other masked men hop the barricade, and they jump The Dyad. They appear to be the Creed Brothers, judging by the suplex they did and context clues. The Don then covers Fowler for a pinfall.
Eddy Thorpe is the focus of a great vignette that plays to his Native American heritage. Thorpe also cuts a promo about Dijak, who is he is currently feuding with in storyline.
Wes Lee interrupts an autograph signing with NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Lee remains a subtle heel as they banter back-and-forth.
Tension within Chase U continues with a skit. Once the most enthusiastic student, Thea Hail is still bitter with Andre Chase. She complains to him, and Duke Hudson somewhat agrees with her. Chase says he only wants Hail to be happy, and she shoots back by telling him to not throw in the towel next time.
Blair Davenport defeated Dana Brooke (with Kelani Jordan)
Davenport pinned Brooke the win the match. Jordan got involved at one point, trying to keep Brooke honest.
Brooke grabbed the ring bell shortly before the finish to seemingly use as a weapon. Jordan takes the bell away from Brooke, and Jordan seems shocked Brooke would stoop to such tactics.
After some clunky exchanges between Brooke and Davenport, Brooke is rocked by a knee strike. Davenport then delivers a second knee strike, and Davenport covers Brooke for a three count.
NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is still signing autographs when he is interrupted again. This time it was Dijak interrupting Hayes, and they have words.
Trick Willaims defeated Drew Gulak (with Charlie Dempsey & Damon Kemp)
Williams pinned Gulak after a windmill kick. Dempsey and Kemp interfered during the match, but Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen run down to even the odds.
Kemp distracted the referee at one point, allowing Dempsey to interfere. Dempsey gives Williams a German suplex on the floor. Gulak then goes on to work over Williams.
Comeback by Williams, and Dempsey tries to interfere again. That backfires as Williams drops both Dempsey and Kemp on the floor. They try to attack Williams, but out runs Briggs and Jensen. The country boy babyfaces make a save by neutralizing Dempsey and Kemp. The two teams brawl at ringside as Williams and Gulak go home in the ring.
Dabbo-Kato is the focus of a vignette. He fought his way out of the shadows, and he vows to cast his own shadow when he soon returns to NXT. It was indeed soon, as he actually returns this week for a run-in later in the show.
Von Wagner challenges Baron Corbin to a match at Heatwave
Baron Corbin is heading to the ring for a monologue. Oh joy. Corbin brags about running an Olympic gold medalist out of NXT (referring to Gable Steveson). Corbin then refers to the rest of the locker room as “soft ass little bitches.” Is he doing a CM Punk gimmick?
Corbin says he is ushering in a new era of himself. He places is place “back into the main event” where he claims to belong. Out comes Mr. Stone and Von Wagner to interrupt and confront Corbin.
Corbin tries to make fun of Stone, but Stone turns that around on Corbin. Stone then puts over Wagner. Corbin wants Wagner to talk instead of Stone. Corbin then tries to make fun of Wagner.
Corbin tells Wagner he needs to learn how to “talk on the stick.” Corbin cuts a promo on Wagner about his lack of speaking ability. Wagner responds by saying Corbin talks too much, which guarantees the two a spot on an upcoming episode of Botchamania. If you know, you know.
Wagner cuts a promo making fun of Corbin’s various gimmicks. Wagner then challenges Corbin to a match next week at Heatwave, and Wagner vows to table Corbin. Corbin goes to cheap shot Wagner, but Wagner clotheslined Corbin over the ropes on the side of the ring with the announce desk.
Wagner teases putting Corbin through the announce desk, and they have a pull-apart brawl. Looks like a grudge match is now set for next Tuesday.
WWE World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and her main squeeze, NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio, are in a locker room for a promo. Ripley challenges Dragon Lee and Lyra Valkyria to a mixed tag match at Heatwave.
Mustafa Ali in a vignette gives a stump speech like he is campaigning for the North American title. Ali delivers a speech that plays on populism and patriotism. Where have a seen that before?
Wes Lee defeated Dijak in a number one contender’s match
Lee pinned Dijak, which makes Lee the next contender for Hayes’ NXT Championship. Good match. Eddy Thorpe got involved at one point, although he never physically interfered.
Cat-and-mouse game early on, with Lee floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee. Lee targets Dijak’s leg with kicks and holds. Dijak cuts off Lee, and Dijak works an arm. Hope spot dashed by Dijak, and he posts Lee. Back to work on the arm.
Dijak dashes another hope spot when he catches Lee on an attempted tope. Dijak lawn darts Lee into a ring post, just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break. Dijak continues to work over Lee during the break, still targeting the arm.
After the show returns from the break, Lee counters Dijak to deliver a tornado DDT that spikes Dijak. Moments later, and Lee powerbombs Dijak. Lee then gets a near fall.
Lee crumples to the mat when his injured shoulder gives out. Dijak looks to capitalize with his finisher, but Dijak injured leg buckles. Lee then deliver a pump kick, but Dijak answers back with a chokeslam into a sit-out powerbomb for another near fall.
The fighting spills outside, where Dijak throws Lee over the barricade. Dijak looks to use the steps as a weapon, but out comes Eddy Thorpe. Dijak is distracted by Thorpe, and they face off. Thorpe ducks a lariat, and Lee leaps off the barricade to give Dijak a Frankensteiner. It was not pretty, but Dijak crashes into the ring steps. Lee acts like he pops his shoulder back into place, and Lee then jumps back into the ring to deliver a Cardiac Kick. Lee follows up with a twisting corkscrew senton, and Lee covers Dijak for a pinfall.
Dragon Lee and Lyra Valkyria in a backstage skit accept the challenge from Rhea Ripley. So, Ripey and “Dirty Dom” against Dragon Lee and Valkyria in a mixed tag match at Heatwave.
Ilja Dragunov cuts a promo on Trick Williams in a video package hyping their match next Tuesday.
Tyler Bate vs. Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) ends in a no-contest
The match was going pretty well, as the two work really well together. They do some British style spots and such, and things were just beginning to heat up when in runs Dabbo-Kato. He boots Bate with a high kick and he attempts to guzzle Coffey. The rest of Gallus drag Coffey out of the ring. So, Dabbo-Kato sets his sights back on Bate. Sit-out tree slam by Dabbo-Kato, as he leaves Bate laying in the ring.
Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker have a confrontation in the parking lot. Breakker says he will be watching Corbin’s match next week against Wagner (who Breakker has recently feuded with). Corbin tells Breakker he is not intimidated by him.
Hard Hitting Home Truths with Nathan Frazier is a wacky skit where Frazier’s talk show is interrupted by Meta-Four. They are on video chat, and Noam Dar bickers with Frazier over the Heritage Cup. Frazier is the rightful holder of the trophy, but Dar has a replica. They will apparently have a match at Heatwave to decide the real Heritage Cup Champion.
Jacy Jayne defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)
Jayne pinned Hail, after Andre Chase tries to save Hail. Dissension remains within Chase U, as Hail is upset by her loss. She is also still very upset with Andre Chase.
The match itself goes through a commercial break. Hail was in control before the break, but Jayne is working over Hail when the show returns.
A turnbuckle cover comes off to expose the metal turnbuckle. Chase jumps on the apron to save Hail from smashing into the exposed buckle. Instead of gratitude for Chase, Hail yells at him to get off the apron. Hail then turns around, and she is cradled by Jayne in a small package for a pinfall.
Hail yells at Chase again after the match. Hails blames Chase for the loss, and she storms off afterwards.
Angel Garza and Humberto Carillo are the focus of a great video package that plays on their family history.
NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is almost done with his autograph signing when in walks Wes Lee, who has a contract in hand for Hayes to sign. Hayes congratulates Lee on winning his match earlier, but Hayes gives Lee back the contract before saying he will see him next Tuesday.
Lee does not like being blown off by Hayes, and Lee flings a bunch of 8×10 photos off the table. Lee gets into Hayes’ face, and Lee tells him that he is not waiting until next week. Lee then drags a table off screen, seemingly heading for the ring. Looks like an impromptu contract signing is closing the show.
Before the closing angle, Tiffany Stratton is featured in a hype video. She returns to the show next Tuesday at Heatwave.
Lee is in the ring standing behind a table he dragged out earlier. Out comes Hayes. Notably missing is Trick Williams, as he is getting a singles push of his own.
Hayes and Lee begin to bicker. Lee makes some cracks about Hayes’ luxurious lifestyle as champion. Hayes admits being champ comes with perks, but it also comes with responsibility. Hayes says Lee has not walked in his shoes, so Lee cannot talk to him about how easy it is.
Hayes says that Lee takes a few losses and he “starts to fold like a chair on an Alabama boardwalk.” That is a great pop culture reference based a recent events in Montgomery.
Hayes is not convinced Lee can be him. Lee scoffs, remarking how he was told many times he could not do something. Lee talks about his time in the military, where he was called crazy for wanting to be a pro wrestler. Fast forward to now, and here comes more doubters telling Lee he cannot do something.
Lee talks about how to came to NXT and “set up shop,” before he eventually lost his tag team partner (who was released from WWE). Lee runs down all the reasons he was told he could not accomplish his goals. Lee says he became the greatest North American champ ever.
Lee goes on ask who he won the North American title from (referring to Hayes). Hayes responds by admitting that Lee won that title, but Hayes reminds Lee that he did not actually beat Hayes himself to win the title.
Hayes claims he put the North American title on the map with his reign with banger matches across two reigns as champ. But Hayes says this is not about that title. This is about the NXT Championship. Hayes says he agrees with 90% of what Lee is saying, but Hayes claims Lee “can’t” defeat him.
Lee chimes in by saying there goes the “can’t” again. Someone telling him he cannot do this or that. Lee has turned doubters into believers before, and Lee admits he is his own biggest doubter. But no more, as Lee vows to win the NXT title. Lee signs the contract, and he tells Hayes to do that same.
Hayes quotes a lyric from a classic R&B song by TLC about not chasing waterfalls. Hayes says next is not “Melo don’t miss.” Hayes says “Melo can’t miss.” Hayes signs the contract and poses with his NXT title belt.
Lee responds by leaping into the air and breaking the table with a stomp. Lee then tells Hayes he will see him at Heatwave.
Dustin Rhodes and Keith Lee will tag together on next week’s Rampage.
On Rampage Saturday, Lee said that he would have beaten Chris Jericho on last week’s Dynamite if it wasn’t for Swerve Strickland’s interference. Rhodes said they were back teaming together and they were the best duo since John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, and next week Naturally Limitless will descend on Florida.
Lee and Jericho were wrestling on last week’s Dynamite when Swerve attacked Lee, leading Jericho to score the win. The two have been feuding for months, dating back to December when Swerve turned on his former partner and put him on the shelf for months. Lee made his return in February and has yet to face Swerve in a singles match.
During Lee’s absence, Strickland also began a feud with Dustin Rhodes, leading to a match in February that ended in a DQ. On the March 3 edition of Rampage, Lee and Rhodes defeated Swerve Strickland and Parker Boudreaux in a tag team match.
Keith Lee has issued a challenge to Chris Jericho to face him on the April 12 AEW Dynamite.
In a backstage segment on this week’s Dynamite, Lee interrupted a backstage interview between Jericho and Tony Schiavone, issuing a challenge for next week.
Jericho was speaking on Adam Cole’s interaction with Daniel Garcia following Cole’s return match on last week’s Dynamite, where Cole defeated Garcia. Jericho made his way to the ring and helped Garcia to the back following the contest, and Jericho spoke of the disrespect shown by Cole. Lee then interrupted and said that Jericho had disrespected many people in AEW, then made the challenge.
Jericho backed down from Lee, not officially answering the gauntlet that had been thrown down for next week.
Lee has wrestled just twice this year, both in tag team matches with Dustin Rhodes as his partner. His last singles match came on an October 2022 episode of Rampage.
Jericho’s most recent match came on the March 15 Dynamite, where he teamed with Garcia and Sammy Guevara in a three-way trios match against The Elite and The House of Black.
It’s Monday night and you know what that means: AEW Dark Elevation from Winnipeg’s Canada Life Centre with Matt Menard and Paul Wight on the call.
Skye Blue defeated TFA
TFA attacked Blue before the match started, which seems to happen to her a lot. If you were wondering what TFA stands for, it’s Taryn From Accounting.
TFA had some of the crowd behind her, being from Canada and all, and went for a couple of quick pins that Blue kicked out of. Blue rolled her up and then hit a few elbows and followed with a high crossbody for a two count. Blue kicked out of a side slam-esque move out of a shoulder carry, landed a kick, and hit her running sunset flip bomb for the win. She moves on to take on Toni Storm Wednesday on Dynamite.
Jake Hager defeated Adam Knight
Hager was joined by Angelo Parker and, of course, had his purple hat on. Hager made sure to connect on a belly-to-back suplex before he took it off. Knight hit a wraparound on Hager and a lariat off the ropes that stunned him. Hager came back with his own lariat followed by his running middle rope splash for the win.
Emi Sakura defeated Zoe Sager
Fun fact: Sager is the LPW Grand Champion out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She was taking on the queen here tonight and it didn’t go very well. Sakura toyed with Sager early on with hair pulls, back rakes and chops, but Sager still kicked out of a pin attempt. Sakura quickly got her up for a tiger driver, but Sager fought out. After absorbing a dropkick off the top rope, Sakura kicked out and then hit a neckbreaker off a counter. She followed it up with a crossbody in the corner and a submission hold you have to see to believe:
Cutler got a big reaction from the Canadian crowd, probably because he is miraculously undefeated on Dark Elevation this year. (He may be 1-0 but still undefeated.) Geiger showed off some technical wrestling early with a vertical suplex and a kneebar, but Cutler found the ropes. Cutler was in the corner trying to fix his shoes as Menard and Wight suggested that he might be pumping them up. Impossible since he’s wearing Jordan 1’s, but I digress.
Cutler hit a couple of elbows, some dance moves, and an airplane spin that made him dizzier than Geiger. When he hit a second airplane spin, they both fell onto each other. Geiger turned the pin into a rear naked choke, but Cutler flipped over into a pinning combination for the win to extend his winning streak to 2-0 on Elevation.
The Firm (Ethan Page, Isiah Kassidy & Matt Hardy) (w/ Stokely Hathaway) defeated Massive Damage, Mo Jabari & Sebastian Wolfe
Man, I love The Firm. The music hit for a big pop, but Page had to shut it off, as always. He tried to get the crowd on his side with his Canadian gear. Somebody yelled shut up, so Page called him an assh*le and handed the mic over to Kassidy. Menard sounded like he feared for his life thinking Kassidy was about to moan. He led the crowd in some moans and they went to the ring.
Kassidy got things going with Jabari and some great wrestling. Hardy then got to deal with Wolfe, who actually got the upper hand on Hardy until the Three Courses of Deletion started in the turnbuckles. Next, both Page and Hardy hit elbows off the middle rope. Damage distracted Kassidy while he was hitting shots in the corner, so Page got the hot tag and ran wild on all three men. After Jabari kicked out at two, each team was in the ring and The Firm hit a triple Side Effect followed up by an Ego’s Edge for the win.
Hathaway was out there the whole time but looked miserable, nervous and out of it. After the match, he got in the ring and locked in a rear naked choke on Jabari. He takes on Hook in a no DQ match on Wednesday.
Top Flight defeated Michael Allen Richard Clark & Shaun Moore
Yeah, you read that right. This guy has four names which is very unique if you ask me. Turns out Wight was bleeding at the desk at the start of this match, so I’m not sure what happened there. But for the actual wrestling, Darius Martin took most of the match like usual and looked good. Clark and Moore double-teamed Darius but he moved under for the hot tag to Dante who ran wild with help from his brother, ending the match with his between-the-legs frog splash.
ROH Women’s Champion Athena defeated Taylor Rising in a Proving Ground match
Athena headbutted Rising immediately take her out. She disposed Rising to the outside and threw her into the new, harder barricade but Rising threw Athena into the steel steps. Athena was not happy, so she hit Rising with an Alabama Slam on the concrete floor. Back in the ring, Rising actually hit Athena with a few kicks and a pedigree for a near fall that actually got me. But, Athena quickly hit her double knees and then locked in the crossface for the win. After the match, Athena threw Rising over the top rope and then threw her face straight into the belt.
Dustin Rhodes & Keith Lee defeated Jessie V & Levi Night
This is the new team’s second match together after beating Parker Boudreaux & Swerve Strickland on Rampage a few weeks back. They showed off some great teamwork early on. Both V and Night got the worst of it from both men. Lee never even left his feet, not even on a belly-to-belly suplex. They finished off Night quickly for the win.
Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) defeated Varsity Athletes (Ari Daivari & Tony Nese) (w/ Mark Sterling)
Daivari and Nese got UFC-style comedic entrances from Sterling. He used the mic time to make fun of the Winnipeg Jets and their absence of retired numbers. He pointed out that Nese is a better athlete than Jets winger Blake Wheeler. No offense to Wheeler, but he’s probably right.
Nese and Daivari attacked Dark Order before the bell rang. Silver fought out early, but referee Rick Knox was easily distracted by Sterling. The athletes used the opportunity to lay their boots to Silver. Silver fought back and tagged Reynolds who hit both men on the outside and tried to pin Daivari before Nese broke it up. After Dark Order disposed of Daivari, they connected on their stunner/German suplex/float-over combo onto Nese for the win.
