Mercedes Mone loses WPW Women’s title in Canada

Just months after enjoying the run of her life, Mercedes Mone’s ongoing downfall seems to continue.

Once holding up to 12 to 13 title belts from across multiple promotions, Mone is now down to just one championship.

At Winnipeg Pro Wrestling‘s Fight at the Museum, Mone lost the WPW Women’s Title to Jody Threat after holding the title for 164 days. Mone is now down to two physical championship titles, the APAC Women’s Championship (Malaysia) and the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Championship (not defended regularly and often not considered as a real championship).

Even a few months ago, Mone held 13 titles, including the AEW TBS Championship, ROH Women’s TV Championship, CMLL World Women’s Championship, RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, Queen of Southside Championship (merged with the RevPro title), Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship, EWA Women’s Championship (Austria), PTW Women’s Championship (Poland), BestYa Women’s Championship (Italy), the Bodyslam Women’s Championship (Denmark), WPW Women’s Championship (Canada) at the same time.

Mone, 34, has also remained absent from AEW television since losing her TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale on AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash. While there have been no confirmed updates on Mone’s AEW return, her recent cryptic tweet suggested her coming back to AEW following her WPW title defense.

Knockouts title match added to next week’s live TNA Impact

TNA Wrestling has added two matches to the lineup for next week’s live episode of TNA Impact.

Knockouts World Champion Arianna Grace will defend her title against Jody Threat. Threat earned the title shot by winning the Knockouts Battle Royal at No Surrender.

Also added is a four-way tag team match with The Righteous vs. Sinner and Saint vs. Rich Swann & BDE vs. The System.

The show takes place Thursday, March 5 at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. TNA will return to the venue the following night for a set of television tapings.

Three matches are now advertised to air on next week’s show. Another two matches have been announced for the Atlanta TV tapings, but may not necessarily air on the live show.

Number one contender for Knockouts title set at TNA No Surrender

In the official first match of the night at TNA No Surrender, Jody Threat won the Knockouts Battle Royal to become the number one contender for the Knockouts title.

11 women competed for a chance at the future Knockouts World title, amongst which Threat last eliminated Tessa Blanchard to earn the shot. The final four of the match were Threat, Blanchard, Elayna Black, and Mara Sade.

The closing moments of the bout saw Sade eliminate Black and Blanchard eliminate Sade, before getting herself eliminated by Threat.

The order of the elimination is Rosemary, Tasha Steelz, Jada Stone, Harley Hudson, Myla Grace, Mila Moore, Victoria Crawford, Black, Sade, and Blanchard.

Threat will now face the TNA Knockouts Champion in a title match later at an unspecified date.

TNA announces re-signing of former Knockouts tag champion

TNA Wrestling has re-signed Jody Threat.

The former two-time Knockouts World Tag Team Champion first debuted with the promotion in March 2023. On Wednesday, Threat revealed during an interview with PWInsider that she had re-signed with the company. No details on the terms or length of the deal were disclosed.

Threat said:

“This year is really my opportunity to show everyone who Jody Threat is. So, I am excited to let you know that I have re-signed with TNA Wrestling to give myself the ability to move forward and prove what the Wild Child Jody Threat can do as a solo competitor.”

“I am so thankful that this was the place that I signed with, for my first TV contract, a big deal for someone like me as a female Canadian. It’s been such a learning opportunity and I just feel so blessed.”

TNA wrote of Threat’s re-signing:

“A two-time TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champion, the Toronto native has been a cornerstone of the TNA Knockouts division since 2023. She is now embarking on a singles career after splitting with her Spitfire tag team partner Dani Luna.”

Threat and Dani Luna previously teamed as Spitfire in TNA. They won the Knockouts World Tag Team titles for the first time at TNA Sacrifice on March 8, 2024, then dropped the belts to Masha Slamovich and Alisha Edwards two months later at Under Siege. They won the titles back in September 2024 at Victory Road, then lost them in March 2025 to The Elegance Brand at Sacrifice. They were later forced to disband in May due to a stipulation stemming from their loss at Under Siege.

In addition to her work in TNA, Threat dropped the Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Women’s title to Mercedes Moné in October at Rumble in the Bert. She is also the current Smash Wrestling Women’s Champion.

Mercedes Mone wins 12th title belt in Canada

The belts keep coming for Mercedes Mone.

On Sunday, Mone defeated Jody Threat to capture the Winnipeg Professional Wrestling Women’s Championship. With the win, Mone is now holding twelve titles simultaneously, surpassing Ultimo Dragon’s ten titles. Mone’s win comes one day after she defeated Mina Shirakawa to win the interim ROH Women’s Television Championship at AEW WrestleDream, her eleventh title.

Mone has no plans of slowing down, either. After she won her eleventh title at WrestleDream, she was confronted by Kris Statlander, who she had dissed earlier in the night. Later in the night, she issued the challenge for Full Gear, making it clear she wanted the AEW Women’s Championship added to her collection.

The full list of titles Mone has won includes AEW’s TBS title, interim ROH Women’s TV title, CMLL Women’s title, BODYSLAM Women’s title, Discovery Wrestling Women’s title, EWA Women’s title, RevPro Undisputed British/Queen of Southside Women’s title, Prime Time Wrestling Women’s title, BestYa Women’s title, WPW Women’s title, and the AEW Owen Hart women’s tournament winner title.

Slamovich is the current TNA Knockouts World Champion and Luna & Threat are the Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They retained at Genesis with respective victories over their opponents for this six-woman tag match. Slamovich defeated Rosemary in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match, while Luna & Threat defeated Ash & Heather By Elegance.

A Knockouts title match between Slamovich and NXT star Cora Jade looks to be in the works but has not been confirmed yet. Jade made a surprise appearance at Genesis on Sunday night, confronting Slamovich.

Dani Luna on why TNA Wrestling is ‘exactly what I needed’ after WWE NXT UK run

At 24 years young, Dani Luna has been wrestling for nearly a decade but it feels like her career is truly just beginning.

After beginning at just 16, Luna got her first big break as part of the now-defunct WWE NXT UK when she was 19 — just three years after she began training.

Luna now finds herself as a full-time member of the TNA Wrestling roster with title aspirations on her goals for 2024.

In our 20-minute interview you can watch on YouTube above, Luna and I talked about her TNA pay-per-view debut in a high-risk match, her NXT UK run, and those aforementioned goals.

She believes being with TNA is “exactly what I needed at this point in my career.”

“It was terrifying more than anything.”

The England native signed with TNA Wrestling in December 2023 after working for the company during both their Canadian and UK tours earlier that year.

She made her PPV debut at January’s Hard to Kill in an Ultimate X match with five other women for a future Knockouts title shot.

While she said the opportunity was “cool,” she also said it was more “terrifying than anything” due to fear about falling off the structure — something she wished she had done earlier than later in the match to get it out of her system.

“…The fear of falling off of that thing is so much worse than actually falling off of it. But, it was it was so cool…the amount of things you can do in a match like that. If you think of all the things you can do in a match and then you add six other people and then you add this huge structure that you can all hang off of….there’s just so many ways to get around it.”

“And obviously I was sharing it with some incredible women too, lots of women that I had never even wrestled before. So that was a whole thing in itself. But yeah, it was crazy. It was it was a great time, but I reckon I’d like to do another one, but maybe not loads of them.”

The night was a big one for TNA as it was the first following their rebrand from Impact Wrestling back to their iconic naming convention. The match was also first on the PPV, something that wasn’t lost on Luna.

“It did really kind of throw me into the deep end a little bit. So many people that might not have even been watching TNA at the time who tuned in because this was the first PPV back, and then I’m one of the first people they see and they might not have even never heard of me. So, it was a really nice way and a really good showcase for me to show what I’m all about in a really exciting way.”

Luna is still early in her TNA run, but has already found a friend in Jody Threat. The two teamed up last month and Threat backed her up following her win over Killer Kelly on Thursday’s Impact. It’s a partnership she hopes has gold in its future.

“I think our goal for 2024 is to win the Knockouts Tag Team Championships and I don’t think that’s completely out of left field. I think is absolutely something we could do. I think we’re starting to build a really good tag division in TNA now and I would love to get there on a bigger stage with her. She’s one of my favorite people in the world so I would love to hold gold with her in TNA this year.”

The NXT UK years

Luna first became a fan of wrestling when she was 14 after her brother introduced her to it. Two years later, she was in wrestling school at just 16. Three years after that, she was signed to a WWE deal for the NXT UK brand where she made her home from 2019 through 2022.

She went on to say that while she learned a lot in NXT UK, she was too young to be on a stage of that level and that it was a lot to handle.

“I don’t think I was necessarily ready for that sort of stage at my age and my experience level, but it gave me so many tools that I think now I can bring to somewhere like TNA where I’m a bit more grown up, a bit more experienced, and a lot more prepared for it.”

Trinity vs. Savannah Evans announced for Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling has announced four matches for this week’s show.

Trinity will look to go 3-0 as she takes on Savannah Evans in singles competition. Evans got involved in Trinity’s match at Under Siege on Friday, providing interference on behalf of her opponent, Gisele Shaw.

Sami Callihan will team with Jake Crist to face Decay’s Crazzy Steve & Taurus. Also, Dani Luna will make her Impact in-ring debut against Jody Threat. Eddie Edwards vs. Yuya Uemura is also scheduled for Thursday.

Crist, a former X-Division Champion and teammate of Callihan’s in OVE, returned to the promotion at Under Siege. He teamed with Callihan and Rich Swann in a win over The Design’s Deaner, Kon, and Angels.

24-year-old Dani Luna is part of the Subculture team along with Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster. She accompanied them to the ring at Under Siege. Her opponent, Jody Threat, has gone 4-0 in Impact since debuting in March. She’s defeated Tara Rising, Seleziya Sparx, Alisha Edwards, and Sierra in that time.

All three matches were filmed this weekend from London, Ontario’s Western Fair District Agriplex. Impact taped two weeks’ worth of television from the venue on Saturday. Spoilers from the show are available here

 Impact Wrestling 6/1 lineup:

‘Major surprise,’ three matches set for next Impact Wrestling

The road to Under Siege continues on next Thursday’s Impact on AXS TV.

As was revealed earlier this week, Impact Wrestling is promoting a “major surprise” for next week’s show that no one is going to see coming. A yet-to-be denied report emerged this week that the surprise will be the Impact debut of the former Naomi in WWE.

The show will be taped this weekend in Chicago, Illinois, as part of two days of tapings.

After the events of Thursday night, Impact World Champion Steve Maclin will team with Champagne Singh and Shera against PCO and two partners of his choosing.

Shera and Singh attacked PCO as he came out to confront Maclin Thursday, leading to an impromptu match where PCO defeated Singh.

Jody Threat will look to remain unbeaten in her early Impact run as she takes on Alisha while Moose and Brian Myers battle Yuya Uemura and Bhupinder Gujjar.

Part two of Frankie Kazarian’s sit-down interview with Gia Miller is also on tap.

Here’s a look at the current lineup:

  • Major surprise debut
  • Steve Maclin, Champagne Singh & Shera vs. PCO and two partners of his choosing
  • Jody Threat vs. Alisha
  • Moose & Brian Myers vs. Yuya Uemura & Bhupinder Gujjar

Impact Wrestling live results: Jonathan Gresham vs. Mike Bailey 3

Thursday’s Impact on AXS TV has a little bit of everything on the road to next Sunday’s Rebellion pay-per-view.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey and Jonathan Gresham will battle in a trilogy match with the winner earning a shot at X-Division Champion Trey Miguel at Rebellion.

Impact World Champion Josh Alexander will relinquish his title due to a torn triceps.

Former Impact Tag Team Champions the Motor City Machine Guns will take on TMDK (Shane Haste & Bad Dude Tito) in a non-title match while new signee Jody Threat will make her Impact in-ring debut.

In a trios match, Tommy Dreamer, Yuya Uemura and former NHL enforcer Darren McCarty will take on Bully Ray and The Good Hands. Dreamer and Ray will be on opposite sides of a team Hardcore War match at the PPV.

A grudge may finally be settled in a feud that has been raging for several months as PCO takes on Eddie Edwards.

Former Impact Tag Team Champions Heath & Rhino vs. Shera & Champagne Singh will be on the pre-show.

BTI pre-show:

Heath & Rhino defeated Champagne Singh & Shera

After a good back and forth match, Rhino eventually nailed Shera with the Gore to get the 1-2-3.

Main show:

The opening video focused on Josh Alexander’s torn triceps, forcing him to undergo surgery and ultimately relinquishing the Impact World title later tonight in the Impact Zone.

Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) defeated TMDK (Bad Dude Tito & Shane Haste)

Haste and Shelley began the match but before the two could lock up, Tito interfered and it was all four men in the ring. MCMG managed to land some offense on the outside but it wouldn’t gain them any momentum as the pure power of Tito began dominating the legal man Shelley.

It was quick tags by TMDK and they dominated the match for the next few moments before Shelley was finally able to land the tag to a hot Sabin. Sabin began to school Haste and as Tito attempted to interfere, Shelley stepped up and it was all MCMG at this point.

TMDK attempted to regain momentum but MCMG was simply too much and after isolating Tito, Sabin was able to roll-up Haste for the victory.

– Backstage, Impact Tag Team Champions Chris Bey & Ace Austin confronted the Machine Guns. Chris Sabin stated that at Rebellion for their rematch, why not make it an Ultimate X match for the titles? Bey stated that if they could make that happen, then it’s on.

– Backstage, Eddie Edwards was with Kenny King. Edwards asked if he could rely on King for backup tonight, but King questioned him and walked away.

– Backstage, Scott D’Amore was confronted by Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer wanted D’Amore to step up for Rebellion and the Hardcore War but D’Amore downplayed his in-ring career and walked away.

In a X-Division no. 1 contender’s match, Mike Bailey & Jonathan Gresham went to a no contest

As you would expect, it was quick back and forth stalemate action by both men in the beginning as current X-Division champion Trey Miguel shared his thoughts on commentary.

Gresham was able to nearly score a victory before Bailey was nearly able to score a victory as well before Gresham was able to lock Bailey in a figure-four leglock. Bailey reversed it followed by a Gresham reverse and as you would once again expect several moments into the match, we were still at a stalemate.

The match spilled to the outside and as Bailey almost nailed Miguel accidentally, Miguel decided to take matters into his own hands. As Bailey and Gresham re-entered the ring, Miguel attacked both men causing the match to get thrown out.

– Backstage, Deaner (with The Design) scolded Callihan for losing his last couple of matches. Callihan took exception and told Deaner he wanted Step 7 in his initiation. Deaner challenged him and Callihan said he was ready before walking away from The Design.

– Backstage, Mike Bailey and Jonathan Gresham confronted Santino Marella as Trey Miguel and Dirty Dango interrupted. Marella stated that due to Miguel’s actions tonight, the X-Division title would be defended in a three-way elimination match at Rebellion against Bailey and Gresham.

Jody Threat defeated Tara Rising

Impact was treated to the debut of the one and only “Wild Child.” Threat has been one of the most gifted and rising stars on the Canadian independent wrestling scene in the past several years.

Threat dominated the match in its entirety and after a slew of powerful moves, Threat finished Rising with the F416 for the victory.

– Backstage, Santino Marella was seen recovering from an attack at the hands of The Design. Dirty Dango and Scott D’Amore tended to Marella and Dango told D’Amore he wanted The Design. Marella then made it official that Dango, Joe Hendry and himself would face The Design at Rebellion.

– Backstage, Gia Miller was with Tasha Steelz. Before Steelz could say too much, she was interrupted by Gisele Shaw, Jai Vidal & Savannah Evans. Steelz challenged Shaw to a match next week but before we got an answer, Shaw and company walked off.

Tommy Dreamer, Yuya Uemura & Darren McCarty defeated Bully Ray & The Good Hands (Jason Hotch & John Skyler)

What a sight to see four-time Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty competing in a match.

Dreamer and Skyler began the match and Dreamer was able to gain quick momentum before making the tag to Uemura. Quick tags were made by both men before Hotch was able to capitalize with a cheap shot and Dreamer was now in no man’s land.

Bully was tagged in and after some Dusty Rhodes tributes, Dreamer was able to land a DDT and we finally got to see McCarty tagged into the match.

After taking out Hotch and Skyler, McCarty wanted Ray. Ray entered the ring and quickly exited as quick as he entered. McCarty soon found himself in the ring with Skyler as Hotch was taken out by Uemura on the outside. McCarty then landed the stunner on Skyler for the 1-2-3.

– After the match, Kenny King hit the ring to attack McCarty as Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly also joined the melee. Before King and Slamovich could do much damage, Dreamer and Uemura alongside Kelly were able to send them running.

– A video promo aired on the legacy of Josh Alexander’s Impact World championship reign and his upcoming relinquishing of the title due to injury.

– A clip of Deonna Purrazzo was shown winning the four-way match last Thursday at Multiverse United earning her a shot at the Impact Knockouts championship at Rebellion. Purrazzo stated that no matter if it was a one on one match or a three-way match, she would become a three time champion.

Eddie Edwards defeated PCO

As the match started with both men beating on one another, the words “technical classic” definitely weren’t going to apply to this match. With that being said, PCO hit a frankensteiner from the top rope as we headed to a commercial break.

We were back from commercial and the match has now taken to the outside and Edwards was not faring much better as PCO was still on the attack.

Back on the ring apron and Edwards was finally able to ground PCO with a superplex but unfortunately for Edwards, it wasn’t able to ground him for long.

PCO recovered and after a huge chop fest, PCO sent Edwards to the outside and followed up with a PCO-sault through the ropes. If that wasn’t bad enough for Edwards, PCO then landed a chokeslam to the ring apron as we headed to another commercial break.

We were back from commercial and both men were back in the ring and PCO nailed Edwards with a ddt before further punishing him with a Deanimator. PCO attempted to squash Edwards in the corner but Edwards pulled the referee in the way and PCO squashed the referee instead.

PCO thought about going for the PCO-sault from the top but Alisha Edwards ran down to the ring to confront the French-Canadian Frankenstein. Alisha nailed PCO with “Kenny” and Eddie seized the opportunity. Eddie followed up the illegal tactics of his wife by nailing PCO with a buckle bomb followed by the Boston Knee Party to finally gain a much needed victory over the monster.

After the match, as Eddie and Alisha celebrated, PCO came “back to life” and chased the couple from the building and into the parking lot.

Josh Alexander relinquished the Impact World title

Impact Wrestling president Scott D’Amore and KUSHIDA were already in the ring as an aggressive Steve Maclin entered the ring.

D’Amore stated that while there was an ending with the historic run of Josh Alexander, there will be a new champion crowned at Rebellion between KUSHIDA and Maclin. D’Amore then called Alexander to the ring.

Alexander, in a sling, came down to the ring with his wife and son. Alexander stated that he has been one of the most decorated champions in the company’s history while the fans followed up with a “Best World Champ” chant.

Alexander stated that he had a torn tricep and that he would go back to where he first started. Alexander stated he would be watching who watching who would become the next world champion as he praised both KUSHIDA and Maclin.

Alexander warned both men to watch out for him when he was cleared again. Alexander then attempted to give D’Amore the title but Alexander’s son intercepted. D’Amore was finally given the title and Maclin grabbed the mic and stated that this was Alexander’s “way out” before putting down his family.

Before Maclin could continue, D’Amore grabbed the mic and defended Alexander and his family and called Maclin a coward. D’Amore reminded Maclin that he recently tapped out to KUSHIDA and Maclin responded that he chose to tap out as nothing was on the line.

KUSHIDA stepped up to Maclin and as the two went face to face, Maclin was sent to the outside. KUSHIDA followed up with a somersault over the top rope to the outside before grabbing the world championship and posing with the title as the show came to a close.

Final Thoughts:

This was an excellent Impact Wrestling setting up for Rebellion in just ten days. As a Canadian, it was sad to see Alexander officially relinquish the title but I was proud to see Threat make her debut and let the pro wrestling world know what she’s all about.

Next week will be the go-home edition going into Rebellion and it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Mickie James is announced in being involved in the Knockouts championship match and if they push the KUSHIDA vs. Maclin feud even further. Both matches are going to worth the cost of the PPV alone.

Happy Easter weekend, everyone!
