Dirty Dango signs new deal with TNA Wrestling

Dirty Dango has re-signed with TNA Wrestling.

The 40-year-old returned to Impact/TNA for the first time since 2004 at Bound for Glory 2022 and signed a one-year deal with the company that January.

During an appearance on the Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz, Dango revealed he’s recently signed a new deal to remain in TNA.

“I signed a year deal in January of 2023, I think it was. So, about a year ago I signed a year deal and then I just signed another,” Dango said on the show.

The audio cuts out as Dango is revealing the length of the contract, but it sounds as though he’s agreed to another one-year deal.

“I kind of told myself I’d wrestle until 40 and then I was going to probably ease up a bit but like I tell everybody, it’s what I’ve done my whole life. I don’t know how to not be a wrestler,” he said.

“Just being around TNA has made me really fall back in love with wrestling,” he continued.

Dango is scheduled to wrestle PCO on Saturday’s TNA Hard to Kill pay-per-view.

PCO vs. Dirty Dango added to TNA Hard to Kill

A new match announcement has been made for TNA Wrestling Hard to Kill 2024.

PCO and Dirty Dango will face off in singles action at the Saturday, January 13 pay-per-view in Las Vegas. Dango will be accompanied by Oleg Prudius (the former Vladimir Kozlov) and Alpha Bravo for the match.

TNA Wrestling wrote:

At TNA Hard To Kill, PCO will rise once again. Stepping up to the ‘French-Canadian Frankenstein’ will be the brash and arrogant Dirty Dango, who will surely inform the world of his feelings towards the sport of pro wrestling. PCO scored a dominant victory on the final IMPACT-branded event, Final Resolution and one can only imagine just how horrific his actions will be when the new era begins on January 13th.

It was revealed in October that PCO has signed a new TNA Wrestling contract. He defeated Moose, Rhino, and Steve Maclin in a Monster’s Ball match at Bound for Glory.

Dango has an anti-pro wrestling gimmick in Impact Wrestling.

Impact Wrestling officially rebrands back to TNA Wrestling starting with Hard to Kill. The PPV is being held at the Palms Casino Resort.

Here’s the updated card:

  • Impact World Champion Alex Shelley defends against Moose
  • Knockouts Champion Trinity defends against Jordynne Grace

In the main event of Impact this week, Jake Something teamed with SANADA & Frankie Kazarian to defeat Moose, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards. Dango, who has been feuding with Something, was shown watching the match.

Impact notes: New Slammiversary match, Santino Marella vs. Dirty Dango signed

A new title match has been made for next Saturday’s Impact Slammiversary pay-per-view.

After several weeks of taunts between the two men, Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry will defend against Kenny King on the pre-show.

The event is set for Saturday, July 15th at Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

King has got into Hendry’s business on Impact’s weekly TV recently with the champion retorting by using his specific style of music videos to mock King.

King will be looking for his first Digital Media title while Hendry will attempt to make his 14th defense of the championship.

Here’s the current card:

  • Impact World Champion Alex Shelley defends against Nick Aldis
  • Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo defends against Trinity
  • X-Division Champion Chris Sabin defends against Lio Rush
  • Impact Tag Team Champions ABC (Chris Bey & Ace Austin) defend against Sami Callihan & Rich Swann, Brian Myers & Moose, and Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews) in a four-way match
  • Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Coven (Taylor Wilde & KiLynn King) defend against Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly
  • Steve Maclin & Bully Ray vs. PCO & Scott D’Amore with former NHL player Darren McCarty as special enforcer
  • Ultimate X match: Mike Bailey vs. Jonathan Gresham vs. Angels vs. Kevin Knight vs. KUSHIDA
  • Pre-show: Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry defends against Kenny King

The company also announced the first match for their post-Slammiversary fallout taping on Sunday after the PPV as Santino Marella will take on Dirty Dango.

Marella has been a target for Dango ever since the latter turned on Impact’s Director of Authority as part of his new attitude change. Marella surprised Dango recently on TV, thwarting a plan by giving him his Cobra strike.

It’s expected Impact will announce more matches for the Sunday taping next week.

Digital Media title match set for Impact Under Siege pre-show

A title match is set to go down on the pre-show for Impact Wrestling Under Siege.

Impact Wrestling has announced that Joe Hendry will put his Digital Media Championship on the line against Dirty Dango (formerly known as Fandango in WWE) on Countdown to Under Siege. The pre-show streams live for free starting at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time next Friday (May 26).

The match was set up when Dango turned against Hendry on this week’s episode of Impact. Dango and Hendry had been working together to find Santino Marella’s mystery attacker, but it was revealed that Dango was the one who attacked Marella.

Hendry has held the Digital Media Championship since defeating Brian Myers in October 2022.

Under Siege is taking place in London, Ontario, Canada. The pre-show will be available on YouTube, Impact Plus, and Fite TV. The main card is airing on Impact Plus, Impact’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service, and Fite.

Impact notes: Dirty Dango signs contract, Tasha Steelz gets time off

Dirty Dango has found a new wrestling home for the time being.

PWInsider reported Tuesday that the former Fandango in WWE has signed with Impact Wrestling. No terms were disclosed.

Dango (Johnny Curtis) made his Impact debut at last October’s Bound for Glory also working several matches on the subsequent TV taping. He returned at the post-Hard to Kill TV taping in January and again at their recent TV tapings in Orlando.

Dango is a regular on the indie scene as well as in the NWA in the last year. It’s unknown if he’ll continue to work with the NWA given this new contract.

Twitter was buzzing last Thursday when former Knockouts Champion and Knockouts Tag Team Champion Tasha Steelz posted a cryptic tweet that seemed to indicate she was done with the company following her walking away from tag team partner and ally Savannah Evans on last week’s show:

Fightful reported on Tuesday that Steelz actually requested time off from Impact, hence the on-screen angle. She will be off TV for at least the next month as she was not at their recent Orlando TV tapings.

Steelz announced in November that she had signed a multi-year deal to remain with Impact.

Fightful also reported that NJPW wrestlers are “tentatively slated” to appear at next month’s No Surrender special in Las Vegas which could mean they will also appear at the company’s TV taping the next day.

Impact and NJPW had a strong relationship in 2022 that saw wrestlers like Jay White, Satoshi Kojima, Tomohiro Ishii, Aussie Open and others compete in the promotion.

NJPW’s weekly TV show airs on AXS TV following Impact.

NWA Hard Times 2 notes: Matt Cardona, Dirty Dango debut

Matt Cardona and Dirty Dango made their NWA debuts at tonight’s Hard Times 2 pay-per-view.

Following the Trevor Murdoch vs. Mike Knox NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match main event that saw Murdoch retain the title, Cardona entered and aligned with Knox. As Mick Foley appeared to chastise Cardona, The Pope rushed out to attack Cardona. Cardona and Knox left Murdoch and Pope laying, then Cardona posed with Murdoch’s title belt.

Earlier in the evening, Dirty Dango made his presence known and aligned with JTG following a World Tag Team title match between La Rebelion and The End. La Rebelion (Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf) retained the Tag titles, then Dango and JTG appeared to assert themselves as the next challengers for the NWA Tag belts.

Other notes from the show:

  • Regarding the sparse crowd, we were told that the capacity was restricted to 90 as a result of a Georgia government mandate. The show was held at GBS Studios, a public television facility funded by the state government.
  • Homicide and Austin Aries both won qualifying matches for the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship four-way match to be held at the next pay-per-view.

All the title holders retained in the night’s eight championship matches —

  • The Hex retained the Women’s Tag titles by defeating Kylie Rae & Tootie Lynn, Missa Kate & Natalia Markova, and Jennacide & Paulo Blaze.
  • Matt Taven and Mike Bennett retained the ROH Tag titles and will take on The Briscoes at ROH Final Battle.
  • Mickie James retained the Impact Knockouts Championship with a win over Kiera Hogan.
  • Tyrus retained the NWA Television title with a win over Cyon.
  • Chris Adonis defeated Judais to keep the NWA National Championship.
  • La Rebelion defeated The End to retain the NWA Tag titles.
  • Kamille defeated Melina to retain the NWA World Women’s Championship.
  • Trevor Murdoch defeated Mike Knox to retain the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
