Mercedes Mone makes surprise return on AEW Dynamite

Former TNT Champion Mercedes Mone made her surprise return to AEW during Wednesday’s Dynamite as the wild card in the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament — her first appearance in five months.

Mone squared off against Alex Windsor, getting her to tap out to the Mone Maker and advance to the semifinals against the winner of Saturday’s Persephone vs. Hazuki match on AEW Collision. It was a measure of revenge for Mone after Windsor defeated her for the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s title in mid-December.

It was Mone’s first appearance since early-January when after getting her face smashed into cake during Willow Nightingale’s TBS Championship celebration, she did a backstage promo saying she was leaving but would return.

Nightingale defeated Mone for the title on the December 31 New Year’s Smash Dynamite, ending her record reign. Coincidentally, Mone took the spot vacated by Nightingale after injuring her shoulder in mid-May, forcing her to also vacate the TBS title.

It was Mone’s first match since March 31 as she lost her final indie title in a loss to former champion Jody Threat.

Mone was the winner of last year’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament, but was unsuccessful in defeating then-AEW World Champion Toni Storm at All In: Texas.

Leila Grey provides ACL injury update, shares Mercedes Mone’s role in recovery

Months after suffering a severe ACL injury, AEW/ROH wrestler Leila Grey has dropped an update on it.

During an appearance on a virtual signing for East Coast Autograph Auctions, Grey provided an update on her recovery and recent surgery. (H/T Fightful)

I’m actually healing up pretty well so, keeping up with my therapy and yeah, we’re gonna come back strong,” she said.

It’s a long process, but I’m trying to stay positive. Doing what I gotta do… to come back strong, make a big comeback because I miss all you guys so much. I miss going to work, I miss wrestling, I miss being in the ring.

It’s gonna be a long recovery. That is for sure, but I am definitely doing good on my physical therapy, and I’m healing up, and I’m going even a little faster than the healing timeline by my doctor, so it’s going good, but it’s definitely gonna be a while,” Grey continued.

A few months ago, in December 2025, Grey injured her ACL during her TBS Championship match against Mercedes Mone. She underwent successful surgery for it last month and has now opened up on Mone’s role in her recovery.

Of course, of course she did. Yes, and she was with me the whole time afterward. She did not leave my side. Mercedes has been great.”

The injury took place during the December 6, 2025, episode of AEW Collision at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Grey was previously a part of the SkyFlight faction, and there is currently no confirmed timeline for her return.

APAC Wrestling founder responds to Mercedes Mone vacating title

APAC Wrestling founder Ayez Shaukat has responded to Mercedes Mone vacating the APAC Wrestling Women’s Championship.

Earlier today, the news of Mone vacating her APAC Wrestling Women’s title went viral after she shared her side of the story in her Mone Mag. The AEW wrestler noted that APAC Wrestling was unable to fly her out to Malaysia to wrestle there and was not willing to work with other international promotions in order to find a solution.

However, this did not sit well with Shaukat, who responded to it on social media. In a lengthy post, he clarified his side of the story as well as addressed the allegations.

I woke up on 3 hours of sleep to a flood of texts, tags, and questions, so let me say this clearly. I have nothing but respect for Mercedes Moné. She is a global star, in high demand, and I understand that her schedule and travel limitations are real,” he wrote.

I do not blame her for this situation, and I appreciate the opportunity we had to work together. But the public narrative being pushed does not fully reflect what actually happened. We did try. We did explore working with other promotions, because that was what was asked of us. I personally reached out, followed up, and tried to make multiple scenarios work.

I also need to correct this clearly: I did not ask other promotions to fly my wrestler in for us. I have the text and email receipts to back that up, and I am prepared to stand on that truth if necessary. I have chosen not to post private communications lightly because I still believe in handling business professionally, but I will protect my name when needed,” he continued.

For more context, I was even willing to go beyond our limits on my side. I openly said I would take on extra work and secure sponsors to try and bring Mercedes to Malaysia. That ultimately was not workable, which I understand, so we were pushed to explore solutions abroad instead.

I would have genuinely loved to make something work with Arek in Poland and Hal in France. Both were respectful, professional, and tried to find real solutions. I appreciate both of them for that. But when we looked at the full picture, it simply did not make business sense financially for us.

He also opened up about his interaction with Winnipeg Pro Wrestling, “I also want to address Winnipeg Pro Wrestling. Our interaction was minimal. I reached, was initially ignored, and only received a single response declining based on budget and their story direction, which I respected. That was the extent of it. So the public version being pushed does not reflect my actual communication with them. Again, I have receipts for that. I am not here to tear anyone down or create more drama.”

He also shared a message for Mone and apologized to her for the trouble, “To Mercedes, I sincerely apologize for any public discomfort this has caused. I still have respect for you, and I understand you are likely speaking from what was communicated to you.”

He also explained the financial realities behind the situation, explaining that APAC Wrestling operates without major funding or sponsorships and often runs its shows at a loss, making the costs of international travel and logistics very difficult. Shaukat added that these constraints ultimately prevented them from bringing Mone to Malaysia, which in turn affected their plans for Nor Phoenix Diana, who was left without the in-ring closure they had originally intended for her.

Woke up to a flood of tags, so here’s the truth. We tried. We reached out to other promotions. We did NOT ask anyone to fly our talent in — I have receipts. I even tried to make Malaysia work. End result: Nor Phoenix Diana didn’t get closure. Just truth,” Shaukat wrote.

Once known for holding 13 titles together, Mone currently finds herself with zero physical championships. A former APAC Women’s Champion, she defeated Nor Phoenix Diana to hold the title for 140 days before vacating it on April 4, 2026.

Mercedes Mone vacates final title due to promotion’s budget issues

No belts Mone.

The now former champion wrote in her Mone Mag (h/t Fightful) that she had to vacate the APAC Women’s title due to issues with the promotion, saying that they were unable to fly her out to Malaysia to wrestle there and were not willing to work with other promotions in order to find a solution.

“While I was in London, I had to make a tough call. I sent the Malaysia Championship back. My team and I really tried to make things work—we put in the effort, had the conversations, and explored every option. But at the end of the day, they told us they didn’t have the budget to fly me out and weren’t open to working with other promotions,” she wrote. “For me? That just didn’t align with the vision. So I made the decision to vacate the title.”

With the vacancy Mone is officially out of titles as the only one remaining, the Owen Hart Foundation tournament title, is only defended annually.

At her peak Mone held thirteen titles at once including the TBS Championship, the CMLL Women’s Championship, the ROH Women’s Television Championship, and the RevPro Undisputed Women’s Championship among others. Her slide started at the end of last year with the most prominent loss being to Willow Nightingale for the TBS title on the final AEW Dynamite of 2025. Mone took a break from AEW television following the loss but resurfaced in March, dropping all of her other titles including recently losing the Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Women’s title to Jody Threat.

Mercedes Mone loses WPW Women’s title in Canada

Just months after enjoying the run of her life, Mercedes Mone’s ongoing downfall seems to continue.

Once holding up to 12 to 13 title belts from across multiple promotions, Mone is now down to just one championship.

At Winnipeg Pro Wrestling‘s Fight at the Museum, Mone lost the WPW Women’s Title to Jody Threat after holding the title for 164 days. Mone is now down to two physical championship titles, the APAC Women’s Championship (Malaysia) and the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Championship (not defended regularly and often not considered as a real championship).

Even a few months ago, Mone held 13 titles, including the AEW TBS Championship, ROH Women’s TV Championship, CMLL World Women’s Championship, RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, Queen of Southside Championship (merged with the RevPro title), Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship, EWA Women’s Championship (Austria), PTW Women’s Championship (Poland), BestYa Women’s Championship (Italy), the Bodyslam Women’s Championship (Denmark), WPW Women’s Championship (Canada) at the same time.

Mone, 34, has also remained absent from AEW television since losing her TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale on AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash. While there have been no confirmed updates on Mone’s AEW return, her recent cryptic tweet suggested her coming back to AEW following her WPW title defense.

Mercedes Mone drops another championship in Poland

Mercedes Mone has lost another championship.

She dropped the Prime Time Wrestling Women’s title on Saturday at PTW More Mone More Problems in Poland to Diana Strong. Mone had won the title from Strong at a show on July 27, 2025, in Kozlow, Poland.

Mone is now down to just three of the title belts she held during her run as “Ultimo Mone.” She still holds the Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Women’s title, which she is set to defend against Jody Threat on Tuesday. AEW will present Dynamite from Winnipeg the following night.

Mone also still holds the APAC Women’s title, which she won from Nor Phoenix Diana at a House of Glory show on November 15. She also still holds the ceremonial title belt from winning the Owen Hart Cup in 2025.

Mone returned to the ring after a two-month absence on March 6, 2026, and lost the CMLL World Women’s title at Arena Mexico to Persephone. Two days later, she dropped the Bestia Women’s title to Swan in Italy. She also dropped the EWA Women’s title on a show in France on March 14 and dropped both the Body Slam Women’s title and the Discovery Wrestling Women’s title on March 21.

Charlotte Flair names the Four Horsewomen as her Mount Rushmore

Charlotte Flair considers WWE’s Four Horsewomen her Mount Rushmore of wrestlers.

Flair was part of the group during her NXT tenure. On Episode 4 of the Complex Graps Wrestling Podcast, Flair cited that without the Four Horsewomen she would not have the same passion for wrestling. They inspired each other to level up their game in the ring.

“I always say the Four Horsewomen just because they’re who and why I fell in love with wrestling. Not that I didn’t respect or love or look up to the women before me, had I not, we all have kind of gone our separate paths, but had I not been with that core when I started, I don’t know where I’d be today. They’re the reason why I fell in love with wrestling, got good at wrestling, and we all took it to the next level together. So, that’s my four.”

The Four Horsewomen of NXT comprised of Flair, Bayley, Becky Lynch and Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks in WWE). Their time on NXT led to the evolution of the women’s division on the main roster by 2015.

Flair talked about the rushed tag team with Alexa Bliss on SmackDown last year. She cited the transition from a singles competitor to a tag team did not budge her stance on wrestling.

“It’s not that I never thought it would be successful, but I mean I like wrestling. I like being in there. I like being in there the whole time and I like being able, you know, to dance with my opponent. So, in any tag team situation that I’ve been in since I started, not that it hasn’t gelled, but it hasn’t been like I maybe, I mean it didn’t have the chemistry or it wasn’t given the time to get the chemistry or whatever that looks like. But with Lexi, it just seems like one of those, you know, the best things are the ones that you don’t plan. And this wasn’t planned and it was out of nowhere. So, I think that’s why it’s doing so well.”

Flair and Bliss’unlikely pairing happened last year despite their contrasting personalities. The duo won the Women’s Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam 2025. However, this was not Flair’s first time winning tag team gold. In 2020, she won the title with Asuka.

Barring Mone, who is signed to AEW, the other three ‘horsewomen’ remaining in WWE are vying for gold this WrestleMania.

Bliss & Flair and Bayley’s tag team with Lyra Valkyria are headed for a potential tag team bout. Meanwhile, Lynch’s mindgames were successful to get AJ Lee to issue a rematch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 42.

Mercedes Mone loses two more titles at RevPro High Stakes 2026

Mercedes Mone has lost more gold.

She dropped two titles at RevPro High Stakes 2026 on Saturday in Wolverhampton. Mone was defeated by Alexxis Falcon in a match where both the Bodyslam Scandinavian Women’s and Discovery Wrestling Women’s titles were on the line.

Mone had defeated Aliss Ink for the Bodyslam title in Greve, Denmark on October 10, 2025. Discovery Wrestling is based out of Scotland, but Mone beat Emersyn Jayne for the promotion’s women’s title at RevPro’s 13th Anniversary show in London, England on August 22, 2025.

Mone is down to three promotions’ women’s titles and the commemorative belt from winning the 2025 Owen Hart Cup. She is scheduled to defend the WPW Women’s title against former champion Jody Threat in Winnipeg on March 31, the night before AEW presents Dynamite in the city.

Mone also still holds the APAC Women’s title, which she won at a HOG show last November, and the PTW Women’s title (based out of Poland).

The former TBS Champion has now lost four straight title matches in 2026. She dropped the EWA Women’s Championship to Mila Smidt in France on Saturday, March 14. She dropped the BestYa Women’s title to Swan in Italy on March 8. Mone also lost the CMLL World Women’s Championship to Persephone at Arena Mexico on March 6.

Prior to taking two months off at the start of 2026, Mone had also dropped the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale at New Year’s Smash, the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship to Alex Windsor at the December 17 Collision taping in Manchester, and the ROH Women’s TV title to Red Velvet at Final Battle.

Mercedes Mone hints at impending AEW return date & location

Former TBS Champion Mercedes Mone is on her way back to AEW and it may be in less than two weeks.

The multi-promotional champion hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since a vignette on the January 10 Collision which was preceded by her being embarrassed with a faceful of cake on the prior Dynamite during Willow Nightingale’s TBS Championship celebration.

After saying in that vignette that she was returning for more than titles, there is now a hint of when that return could be.

Mone appeared on Wrestling Time on Italian TV station IL61 when she was asked for a message to her fans (seen below):

“I’m returning (to AEW) really, really soon. But right now, I am on my Mone Madness Tour all over Europe. First, it started in Mexico, now here in Italy, next stop is Paris, then London, then Poland, then Winnipeg. After that, Mama is gonna return home,” she said.

The Winnipeg mention is relevant as Mone will defend the WPW Women’s title at WPW Fight at the Museum on Tuesday, March 31. AEW Dynamite will be held in Winnipeg the next night.

As of this writing, Mone still holds five indie titles but has been on a stretch of dropping them during this tour and 0-5 in her last five title matches.

Mercedes Mone calls out YouTube channel over video, urges fans to report it

Mercedes Mone has called out a YouTube channel and is asking others to report it over a video about her.

Responding to a post on social media on Wednesday, Mone wrote that she was “honestly disgusted” by the content, calling it disrespectful and exploitative.

Mone wrote:

“I’m honestly disgusted by this. The level of disrespect, exploitation, and straight-up false narrative being pushed here is beyond unacceptable. No one should have to deal with content like this being made about them.”

She also encouraged people to take action against the channel.

“I need everyone who sees this to please flag and report this channel immediately. This kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated or given a platform.”

The video in question featured a thumbnail and title making a sexual comment about Mone. The channel hosts similar videos about other wrestling personalities.

A similar incident took place in November 2025, when AJ Lee called out a fan for creating an AI video of her, writing, “This is inappropriate and it is harassment. Please delete.”

Mercedes Mone loses EWA Women’s Championship in France

Mercedes Mone has lost another championship.

On Saturday, Mone lost the EWA Women’s Championship to Mila Smidt at a BZW x Rixe APOGEE event in France, her third championship loss in a row this month. After the match, the two held up a sign that said “MORE WOMEN IN THE RING!” in a show of unity.

Mone has been away from AEW since losing the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale on the final AEW Dynamite of 2025, declaring shortly after that she was going to take a break. While remaining off AEW TV, she’s made a return to wrestling outside of the promotion at the beginning of March. Most notably, Mone lost the CMLL Women’s Championship to Persephone last Friday. The following day, Swan defeated Mone to win the BestYa Wrestling Women’s Championship in Italy.

Although her belt collection is dwindling down, Mone still has upcoming title defenses. RevPro recently announced that she will defend both the Bodyslam Women’s Championship and Discovery Wrestling Women’s Championship against Alexxis Falcon at their High Stakes event on March 21.

Mercedes Mone hosts training session for aspiring wrestlers

Mercedes Mone held a training session for aspiring wrestlers.

While in Italy for a March 8 show with BestYa Wrestling, Mone posted photos from the session showing her working with a group of wrestlers in the ring. According to a post by Ibou of the Self Made podcast, Mone did not charge a fee to attend.

In December 2025, Bayley conducted the Lodestone Wrestling Seminar which welcomed aspiring wrestlers to hone their craft free of charge. Its success was acknowledged by the world for the efforts put into the development of upcoming talent and encouraging accessibility within the industry.

Mercedes Mone is widely known for her WWE tenure and contributions to being an integral part of the women’s revolution in wrestling in 2015. Her then-colleague Bayley also played a significant role in the transition of how women were portrayed in WWE and the industry. The two real-life friends continue to extend support despite being on separate promotions.

Mone’s WWE run was abruptly disrupted in May 2022 after a walkout from an edition of Raw, with Naomi by her side. The move ended her decade-long association with the company. However, that did not stop her from refining her in-ring skills. While working on other non-wrestling ventures, Mone soon began competing in NJPW and other independent promotions before eventually signing with AEW in 2024.
