Josh Alexander to relinquish World title on next Impact Wrestling

Impact World Champion Josh Alexander will officially relinquish the title on next Thursday’s Impact on AXS TV.

It was revealed last week that Alexander had suffered a torn triceps, putting him out of action for a considerable amount of time.

The title will be put up for grabs at next month’s Rebellion pay-per-view between no. 1 contender Steve Maclin and NJPW star KUSHIDA.

Also announced for next week’s show is the promotional in-ring debut of Jody Threat who was announced as joining the women’s division last week.

A frequent indie wrestler, Threat made her AEW debut last year and had a notable match with Athena that got publicity due to the level of physicality.

The new additions join the previously announced trios bout featuring Tommy Dreamer, Yuya Uemura and former NHL player Darren McCarty vs. Bully Ray and The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch).

Here’s the lineup:

  • Tommy Dreamer, Yuya Uemura & Darren McCarty vs. Bully Ray & The Good Hands
  • Jody Threat vs. TBA
  • Josh Alexander relinquishes the Impact World title

Impact Wrestling TV taping spoilers: Former NHL player makes in-ring debut

The following are spoilers from Saturday’s Impact Wrestling TV taping in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, which featured the fallout from Friday’s Sacrifice as the company looks ahead to next month’s Rebellion.

As this Thursday’s show is a live preview special for that evening’s Multiverse United PPV, these matches will begin airing on Thursday, April 6th.

It featured former NHL enforcer Darren McCarty in action after the events of Sacrifice as he joined Tommy Dreamer and Yuya Uemura in a trios match. That match was already announced for the April 6th broadcast.

McCarty got physically involved during the Dreamer vs. Bully Ray Busted Open match and was eventually put through a table.

The taping also featured the promotional debut of Jody Threat in addition to the promotional return of Laredo Kid after suffering ruptured intestines late last year.

Impact Sacrifice notes: Slammiversary, Tasha Steelz, Jody Threat

Here are notes from Friday’s Impact Sacrifice event in Windsor.

Friday’s broadcast revealed the date and location for this year’s Slammiversary event. Like Friday’s Sacrifice, it will take place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada at St. Clair College on July 15. The fallout television tapings will take place the following day in the same venue.

Tasha Steelz made her return to the company on Friday, confronting former associate Savannah Evans, who accompanied Gisele Shaw in her match against Deonna Purrazzo. Steelz at first acted like the two were still friends, but then turned on Evans and laid her and Jay Vidal out.

A vignette during Sacrifice showed Jody Threat, who is coming to the promotion soon. Threat is a regular in the Canadian independent scene but is best known for her match on AEW Dark: Elevation that aired on October 10, 2022. She faced Athena in a match where Athena was shown to be very stiff, which ended up being the catalyst for an eventual heel turn.
