Christopher Daniels told The Young Bucks a joke and they slapped their legs while laughing. Matt Hardy pointed out a “no leg slapping while laughing” sign, poking fun at the WWE ban on leg slapping.
Dark Order —
Hangman Page finally bought his lawn mower. He then confronted Dark Order about some suspicious purchases on his credit card, including a leisure suit, flowers for Anna Jay, “a bunch of drugs,” a gimp suit, assorted meats and Japanese Rosetta Stone.
Maki Itoh insulted the group’s dancing.
Miscellaneous bits —
Matt Hardy and Private Party were celebrating their win on Dynamite. Butcher, Blade and Bunny were there and were celebrating in their own way. Hardy promised to crush The Dark Order.
Hangman talked to Private Party backstage. He told them that there is strength in numbers and that Private Party, Butcher and Blade outnumber Hardy and they should keep that in mind. Page then stole their “This Ain’t Water.”
There was an extended cinematic dream sequence. Alex Abrahantes and each member of The Dark Order went after Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz and Dasha.
The Vicious Vixens trio stole items from various talent backstage.

**********
Show opened with a recap of Matt Hardy and Private Party’s appearance, where the latter earned themselves a shot at the Impact Tag Team titles after AEW’s Jerry Lynn helped them defeat Chris Sabin and James Storm in the main event.
Impact is debuting a new intro video. Always worth paying attention on who they focus on.
– Rich Swann opened the show coming down to the ring. Swann cut a promo saying that all his life, he wanted to be a professional wrestler and he always knew that one day, hard work would lead him to becoming a World champion, which he was now. He now understood the target behind his back and he welcomed all challengers. Swann asked Tommy Dreamer out.
Swann mentioned that February 13th is not only No Surrender, but also Dreamer’s 50th birthday, and after everything that Dreamer has done for the industry, locker room, and Swann himself, he wants to offer Dreamer a shot at the title.
Sami Callihan interrupted the moment. He talked trash to both, saying Dreamer is once out there trying to politic his way to a main event, and Swann lost to Omega and embarrassed the company.
Chris Bey came out and said that February 13 is ALSO his birthday, and since he is the future of Impact, he should be the one getting a title shot. And finally, hopefully, out came Moose to claim the title shot that he already has pending.
Swann told them all off because he wanted Dreamer, and so the heels started to beat up the babyfaces until Willie Mack made his return, stunned everyone, and cleared the ring.
Suddenly, Shamrock appeared behind the babyfaces and once again, with the numbers advantage, the heels took out Swann, Mack, and Dreamer. I take it we got ourselves a 6-way at No Surrender.
Backstage, Gia Miller caught up with Swann, Dreamer, and Mack. They said they wanted a match against them. D’Amore told them they had the perfect 4th men for them.
– D’lo Brown and Matt Striker ran down tonight’s card.
Matt Cardona & Josh Alexander defeated Ace Austin & Madman Fulton
This match came about last week when Austin and Fulton were making fun of Alexander for his lack of success lately. When they came to blows, Cardona, who defeated Austin at Hard To Kill, came down for the save.
Story of the match was to showcase how well Alexander and Cardona worked together, even if this was their first tag match. Austin and Fulton, thanks to the power of the latter, managed to cut off Alexander and work over him for a couple of minutes.
Cardona got the hot tag and ran wild on Austin, but Fulton cut him off and pulled the dead Austin to the corner for the tag and regained some control of the match. Alexander helped Cardona by getting Fulton off him and giving him the space to hit radio silence for the win.
At this point, Alexander and Cardona are likely to become a unit.
– Rohit Raju asked someone behind the camera for help, so they could get the better of TJP in his upcoming match, and later on regain the X Division title.
– We got our weekly AEW commercial with Khan and Schiavone. Khan said that he was using Impact as his personal fantasy booking and that’s why he made sure he got the #1 contendership for the tag titles on Private Party. Khan is really pushing his cocky heel gimmick.
– Brian Myers and Matt Cardona met up backstage. Myers told him he had a chance to tag with him, but instead he went for a loser while Myers was out there wrestling with former World champions.
Brian Myers defeated Eddie Edwards by DQ
This match had the simplest, but most perfect set up. Myers interrupted Edwards while getting checked by the doctor, they trash talked each other, and decided to deal with it inside the ring.
Myers calling himself the “most professional wrestler” and referring to Edwards as a “garbage wrestler”, the story of the match was about how Edwards could easily out wrestle him until Myers had to rely on cheating to get the upper hand. Moreover, Edwards is still selling the injuries from Barbed Wire Massacre IV, from Hard To Kill, and so it was an easy target for Myers to focus on while getting heat.
Towards the end, when Myers was ready to finish off Edwards, he was caught with an eye rake from Edwards and a bite for the DQ after he wouldn’t let go. The match had been quite good until the end, I wouldn’t mind a rivalry between these two as long as they keep it inside the ring and weaponless.
Commentary sold it that Edwards had suddenly snapped and this was not normal from him, so it seems that Edwards will be heading into some sort of identity crisis or self control problem going forward.
– Backstage, Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan complained that everyone coming to the party were ugly, so they decided to make this a masquerade party. Oh no, this is the new comedy storyline isn’t it?
– Matt Hardy congratulated Private Party because he had led them to a title shot. Hardy wanted them to have both the Impact and AEW titles so they could get more money, so that HE could get more money.
Rosemary (w/Crazzy Steve) defeated Tenille Dashwood (w/Kaleb with a K)
Decay defeated the team of Dashwood and Kaleb at Hard To Kill in a tag team match. This time around, Rosemary and Dashwood go at it one-on-one, which is where this feud originally started, when Dashwood started teasing Rosemary of being Taya’s leftovers.
Match wasn’t that good. Dashwood controlled from the get go when Kaleb distracted Rosemary and tossed his camera bag to Dashwood for her to use as a weapon. Even after catching Dashwood with the upside down, Rosemary wasn’t able to turn the match around.
It wasn’t until Dashwood went for a half Nelson that Rosemary used her power advantage to break loose and gather some momentum for a comeback and win with a butterfly bomb.
Backstage, Larry D made his return from prison. D wanted revenge on Rosemary and so he attacked Steve backstage. D and Rosemary got face to face and teased a match between the two teams.
– Somewhere else backstage, Bravo and Swinger are running a casino. Steelz and Hogan hired them all to work as staff for the Fire ‘n Flava Festival. Oh no.
– Deonna Purrazzo bragged to Kimber Lee and Susan how she defeated Taya and now she’s gone from the company. Jazz and Jordynne Grace walked up to them and said they were not done. Susan challenged Grace to a one-on-one match next week.
– Over in the ring, we have the Fire ‘n Flava Fest, hosted by MC Lishius, aka Alisha Edwards. She introduced Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz to the ring. This is gonna be bad.
Hogan and Steelz put each other over, but this being a play on Fyre Fest, it was a mess and so the invitees started to complain about the cheap food and drinks. It was all built to Nevaeh and Havok sneaking into the party, where they attacked Hogan and Stelz and sent them running.
This was obviously the overdone heel championship win celebration, on paper it wasn’t bad, especially ending with a new challenge, but the execution was embarrassing.
– Sabin and Storm met up for a drink to talk about Matt Hardy and Private Party. They agree to not be done with them or the Good Brothers. They said that they were gonna take some shots and go after the titles.
Joe Doering (w/Violent By Design) defeated Cousin Jake
Cousin Jake, now as a single unit, has been feuding with Eric Young, Doering, and now his former tag partner Cody Deaner, when Deaner betrayed him. Jake took the loss at Hard To Kill at the hands of EY, but he still wanted more, and he got Doering.
This was a squash. The story was similar to Hard To kIll, Doering is a dominating monster, not even Jake diving to the floor will take him off his feet. Doering destroyed Jake with a bunch of powermoves, ending with a big lariat for the pin.
After the match, VBD teased Pillmanizing Jake, but instead, EY offered Jake a spot in their stable and walked away.
– Brown and Striker ran down next week’s card, including Grace vs Susan, Josh Alexander vs Madman Fulton, Tasha Steelz vs Havok, and TJP vs Rohit Raju.
Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Tommy Dreamer, & Trey Miguel defeated Moose, Sami Callihan, Ken Shamrock, & Chris Bey
The fourth man to join Swann, Mack, and Dreamer turned out to be the returning Trey Miguel, who is now sporting a new look.
Match was your quintessential multi-wrestler match, with everyone pairing up to start the match, babyfaces with the advantage until the heel corner managed to cut off Mack. Callihan, Bey, Shamrock, and Moose all took turns on Mack, focusing on the leg. The heels were not exactly working perfectly together though, at one point Moose slapped Bey to tag him in, whipped him to the ropes and caught Bey with a pop-up powerbomb, only to drop him on Mack.
Trey Miguel would eventually get the hot tag from Mack, he seemed quire more aggressive than before, he took out Callihan. We got everyone taking turns to come in for their signature moves, ending with Miguel and Callihan, who got pin by Miguel when he reversed Callihan’s package piledriver. The match was quite good, just not long enough to showcase everyone involved. The right man took the win and on Callihan of all people. A Miguel vs Callihan feud would be quite interesting.
After the match, Shamrock attacked the referee and locked in the ankle lock. This is probably how he gets written off for a couple of weeks.
Final thoughts —
Ok show by Impact. It’s that awkward episode of Impact we get after pay per views where they start to build up feuds for both the next pay per view, but also the weekend specials in between, and so many things feel disconnected at this point. We did get a couple of good matches, a return, and some decent teases for next week.
Despite their current status with AEW, the next challengers to the Impact Tag Team Titles will be on this Tuesday’s show along with their manager.
Fresh off their surprise appearance and win over Chris Sabin and James Storm last Tuesday to earn the title shot at The Good Brothers, Private Party and Matt Hardy will be making an appearance Tuesday. The title match was announced for February 13th’s No Surrender on Impact Plus.
At the same time they were appearing on Impact, Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy also picked up a win on AEW Dark. Then on Dynamite the next night, the three picked up a victory over Top Flight and Matt Sydal.
The rest of Tuesday’s lineup:
Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Tommy Dreamer, Willie Mack and a mystery partner vs. Moose, Chris Bey, Sami Callihan and Ken Shamrock
Matt Cardona and Josh Alexander vs. Ace Austin and Madman Fulton
Impact Wrestling has revealed when AEW’s Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) will be getting their Impact Tag Team title shot.
It was announced today that Private Party (w/ Matt Hardy) will challenge The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) for the Impact Tag Team titles at No Surrender on Saturday, February 13. No Surrender is Impact Wrestling’s next Impact Plus special.
Private Party became the number one contenders to Anderson & Gallows’ titles by defeating Chris Sabin & the returning James Storm in the main event of this week’s Impact. AEW’s Tony Khan and Jerry Lynn appeared in the Impact Zone to scout the match. Hardy distracted the referee and Lynn interfered by holding onto Sabin’s leg as he was on the top rope. Private Party then hit Gin and Juice on Sabin to get the win.
After the number one contender’s match, Anderson & Gallows confronted Private Party. The show then ended in a brawl between Private Party, Anderson & Gallows, and Sabin & Storm.
Anderson & Gallows teamed with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega to defeat Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Moose & Sabin in the main event of this past Saturday’s Impact Hard to Kill pay-per-view.
Anderson & Gallows vs. Private Party is the first match that’s been announced for No Surrender.
Matt Hardy and Private Party appeared on tonight’s Impact Wrestling, facing off against Chris Sabin and a returning James Storm.
Impact Tag Team champions The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) came out on tonight’s show to talk about their win at Hard to Kill. Sabin came out and said that his team wanted a rematch, as they never lost the titles. The Good Brothers mentioned that Alex Shelley was still out. Sabin then brought out Storm, who cut a promo putting over him and Sabin as a team.
This brought out Hardy and Private Party. Hardy said that his team came to Impact for a warm-up match, and wanted to face the Impact Tag Team champions. The Good Brothers suggested a match between Private Party and Sabin & Storm, with the winners becoming the number one contenders for the titles.
The two teams had their match in the main event. The finish had Sabin going to the top rope but Jerry Lynn, who was at ringside with AEW President Tony Khan, came to ringside and grabbed Sabin’s feet. This allowed Private Party to win the match with their Gin & Juice finisher. The show ended with Sabin & Storm, Private Party, and The Good Brothers brawling inside the ring.
Private Party will team with Matt Hardy tomorrow on Dynamite to face the team of Matt Sydal and Top Flight.
World Champion Kenny Omega will be in action in a no DQ match against Joey Janela on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
Omega and Janela were originally scheduled to face off in the first round of the AEW World title eliminator tournament in October. Janela ended up being pulled from the tournament due to contact tracing. Omega went on to win the tournament, beating Hangman Page at Full Gear in the finals.
Should Janela win, he will be granted a future title shot against Omega.
A 12-man tag is also scheduled for tonight’s show. Last week’s battle between MJF and Orange Cassidy for the Dynamite Diamond Ring saw involvement in, or interference from, all fourteen competitors. The match will be Chris Jericho, MJF, Santana, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara & Jake Hager vs. Best Friends, Top Flight & Varsity Blondes.
As The Dark Order continues to look to add to their ranks, Hangman Page agreed to team with Alex Reynolds and John Silver on tonight’s show. They will face Matt Hardy and Private Party in trios action.
Cody Rhodes will face Angelico this evening. SCU will also take on The Acclaimed. An appearance by Sting and promos by Dustin Rhodes and Eddie Kingston have also been advertised.
Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Show Report —
Matt Hardy & Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) defeated “Hangman” Adam Page & Dark Order (John Silver & Alex Reynolds)
Page and Quen started off, but they wrestled to a stalemate, so Hardy tagged in. Hardy forced Page into his corner, but Page escaped a triple team and his team dispatched Hardy and Private Party. Silver celebrated by jumping on Page’s back, so Page dropped him onto Kassidy and covered for two.
Reynolds made a blind tag and he and Silver nailed Kassidy with a double team. Page followed it up with a running Shooting Star Press for two. Kassidy escaped and reached Quen for a hot tag. Quen downed all three opponents and Private Party hit a double team sequence on Silver for two.
Hardy and Private Party maintained control by isolating Silver, who eventually countered a dive and hit a brainbuster, allowing him to reach Page. Kassidy also tagged in, but Page went on a roll with clotheslines and a fallaway slam before landing a plancha on Hardy.
Back in the ring, Page flattened Kassidy with a lariat for a near fall. Hardy made a blind tag and hit the Side Effect for two. Page fought out of the Twist of Fate and reached Reynolds for yet another hot tag. Reynolds ran wild with forearms and a neckbreaker, then he, Silver, and Page hit a nice combination of power moves. Reynolds had it won, but Hardy pulled him out of the ring before the three, and hit Silver with the Twist of Fate on the floor.
Reynolds was isolated in the ring as Private Party hit him with Gin ‘n’ Juice. Before they could cover, Hardy tagged in, and he covered for three.

The Inner Circle were interviewed about MJF’s New York Times Best Performance award for the Dinner Debonair. MJF began to speak, but Jericho emphasized that he created the Dinner Debonair and was the co-star. MJF said that the Times got one thing wrong: he couldn’t have done it without Jericho. MJF patronizingly said that he sees Jericho as a mentor, the GOAT, and his best friend. Through gritted teeth, all Jericho could say was “congratulations.”
**********
A video aired of Cody and Brandi Rhodes preparing for Christmas at home. A present arrived at their door, and inside the package was an ornament that read “We’re expecting a new baby, due 2021.”
**********
Cody was billed as a “future father” from Justin Roberts’ ring introduction.
Cody Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson) defeated Angélico (w/ Jack Evans)
They performed technical wrestling early on, but neither man could establish any sort of advantage. Angélico was able to match Cody move for move and taunted as Cody sold frustration. Cody took control with a dropkick after a lengthy rope-running sequence as we went to a break. During the break, Evans hopped up on the ring apron, but Arn pulled him off and shoved him down. Angélico controlled the whole way.
Back from break, Cody escaped out of a suplex and downed Angélico with a kick. Cody hit clotheslines and a powerslam for two. Angélico caught the Rhodes drop-down right hand and turned it into a grounded octopus. With his arms trapped, Cody had to use his teeth to get a rope break.
Cody hit a pump kick and went for a backslide for two, but Angélico countered the Disaster Kick into a dragon screw. Angélico locked on the Navarro Death Roll, but Cody was able to reach the ropes. Cody hit the drop down right hand and went for Cross Rhodes, but Angélico fought out. Cody then hit a step-up Cody Cutter from the top rope for the pin.
After the match, Team Taz came out to “congratulate” Cody on he and Brandi’s pregnancy. Starks asked where this congratulations was when he and Cage made Cody and Darby Allin, who was watching from above, their sons. Taz said that Cage would whoop Allin’s ass. Team Taz walked to the ring to attack Cody, but the lights went out and Sting made his entrance, bat in hand. He stared down Team Taz and then the segment just ended.
They advertised Sting’s appearance tonight as “Sting Speaks,” so unless that happens later, that segment will come across as treading water from prior weeks.

Miro was interviewed. It was revealed that Miro injured three AEW staff members and that he is being fined $75,000. Miro said that his problem with Orange Cassidy is that he doesn’t care about all the important things like subscribers and ratings. He said that he’d face Sonny Kiss on AEW Dark next week, and Kip and Penelope would announce their wedding date on next week’s Dynamite.
**********
Eddie Kingston came out to the ring and said he doesn’t care about anyone in attendance. He’s here to address his enemies. Kingston’s first enemy is God, because he’s still living. His second enemy is PAC, who he said went back home to nurse his injuries and that his career is done. He was about to talk about Lance Archer, but Archer immediately ran out to beat him down.
Butcher, Blade, and Bunny ran out to stop Archer’s attack, but then the Lucha Bros arrived alongside PAC. They all beat down Kingston, Butcher, and Blade. Fenix took out Butcher and Blade with a tornillo. Archer was about to chokeslam Kingston, but PAC kicked Kingston out of his grip, and they exchanged words, but they and the Lucha Bros stood tall.
**********
Dustin Rhodes was inteviewed by Dasha. Regarding Evil Uno’s offer from last week, Dustin said that “7” is still a bad idea. He said that every single member of Dark Order will fall, and next week, he’ll face Uno.
**********
Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, MJF, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana, & Ortiz) defeated Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?), Top Flight (Darius Martin & Daunte Martin), & Varsity Blondes (Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr.)
This was originally a 14-man tag with Wardlow and Brandon Cutler added, but Wardlow couldn’t make the show due to a family conflict. Orange Cassidy joined commentary for the match, but he didn’t say much.
Trent and Jericho started off, but Pillman wanted in. Pillman surprised Jericho after a strong lockup, so Jericho beat him down with strikes. Pillman fought back with chops and springboard moves. A springboard dropkick sent Jericho to the floor. Pillman dove with a rotating plancha, which nearly missed.
Garrison tagged in and landed a slingshot legdrop for two. Jericho was able to push Pillman into the Inner Circle’s corner and Guevara tagged in. Garrison tagged in Daunte as two of the best athletes in the company faced off. Guevara flipped him off and downed him with a dropkick. Daunte surprised Guevara with a leg lariat and Top Flight tried a double team which didn’t really land like they intended.
Guevara dropped Daunte with a right hand, leading to Trent and Santana tagging in. Taylor and Ortiz faced off as well as the Best Friends interacted with Santana and Ortiz for the first time since their parking lot brawl. Everyone entered the fray, but the face team sent the Inner Circle packing, and they all came together for a six-way hug.
Back in the ring, Santana hit the Three Amigos suplexes, with Ortiz joining for the third. MJF tagged in with a dive onto Trent’s arm. The Inner Circle beat Trent down on the floor as their team complained to the official, and maintained their advantage through a commercial break.
Guevara cockily went for a Shooting Star Press, but Trent rolled out of the way and hit a bicycle knee, allowing him to tag in Darius. Darius sent the Inner Circle off the apron and hit a Spanish Fly on Ortiz. He went for a dive, but was cut off, so Daunte made a blind tag and immediately dove onto the pile after.
Best Friends hit their half-and-half Soul Food combination and Garrison tagged in. Garrison cleared the ring but was cut off by a bat strike from Jericho. Hager tagged in and hit an awkward-looking F10 in a reference to Wardlow, then MJF tagged in to get the pin.
The teams brawled after the match, but Top Flight were the only ones left standing in the ring when it was all said and done.
**********
Thunder Rosa was interviewed about Dr. Britt Baker. Rosa said that she’s wrestled all over the world, and that it was Baker’s fault that she lost her NWA Women’s Championship match with Serena Deeb. She laughed at the idea that Baker said Rosa “doesn’t belong.” Rebel arrived and said that Rosa’s laugh is terrible, and Baker attacked from behind. They poured water on Rosa’s face, smearing her face paint, and Baker called Rosa ugly.
**********
The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) defeated SCU (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian)
The Acclaimed made their Dynamite debuts in this match. Caster’s schtick is that he raps about his opponents before their matches in a very similar manner to Thuganomics-era John Cena, and he did the same to SCU. Kazarian grabbed a mic and returned the favor. I’ll just say he’s a better wrester than rapper.
Kazarian and Bowens started off. A Northern Lights suplex got Kazarian a quick two count. Daniels tagged in, and a double team got another two. Bowens powered out of a move and tagged in Caster, who was met with a diving dropkick from Daniels.
Bowens tagged in but was again met with an attack from Kazarian until Caster knocked Kazarian off the apron, allowing The Acclaimed to beat him down on the floor. The Acclaimed maintained their advantage for a long time, until Kazarian hit a slingshot DDT and tagged in Daniels.
Daniels hit clotheslines and right hands on Bowens. He hit an STO on Caster and a Blue Thunder Bomb on Bowens for two. Daniels set up for the Best Moonsault Ever, but The Acclaimed cut him off. Bowens and Daniels fought on the top rope, but Daniels pushed Bowens down and landed a diving crossbody for two.
Bowens kicked out of an O’Connor roll, allowing Caster to hit Daniels with their boombox. Bowens followed it up with something similar to a Final Cut for the win, their eighth straight.
After the match, Caster took a mic and rapped about the Young Bucks, who were ringside, saying he and Bowens want the tag titles. Bowens grabbed the mic and laid down the challenge, saying that The Acclaimed have arrived.
**********
Top Flight were interviewed about why they made the save against MJF and Chris Jericho after the match. Darius said that MJF was the hottest young star until Top Flight arrived. They’re the coldest team in AEW, and they challenged MJF and Jericho to a match next week.
**********
Big Swole & Serena Deeb defeated Ivelisse & Diamante
Ivelisse & Deeb started off. Deeb downed Ivelisse with a clothesline. Swole and Diamante tagged in, and Diamante was able to hit a German suplex. Ivelisse and Diamante kept up their beatdown on Swole through the break.
Deeb got the hot tag and hit a rope-hang neckbreaker on Ivelisse. She applied a figure-four leglock, but Ivelisse rolled to tag in Diamante. Ivelisse and Diamante flattened Deeb with a combination sidewalk slam for two.
Swole tagged in and laid in chops on Diamante, but missed Dirty Dancing. Ivelisse grabbed Swole’s hair, but Swole was able to fight out of a Sliced Bread and hit a Tiger Driver. She followed it up with the Clearwater Cloverleaf, Deeb controlled Ivelisse, and Diamante tapped out.
Nyla Rose attacked after the match with Vickie Guerrero. They and Ivelisse and Diamante continued their beatdown, but Red Velvet ran out with a steel chair, sending the heels packing.
**********
After the commercial break that occurred during the previous match, a video aired promoting AEW’s new partnership with Rooster Teeth, headlined by Scorpio Sky.
**********
The Best Friends and Orange Cassidy addressed Miro outside. They said they’d make an appearance at Kip and Penelope’s wedding.
**********
A video aired highlighting Jurassic Express, who will face “5” and “10” of the Dark Order next week. FTR and Tully Blanchard came out to commentary to complain, calling Jurassic Express a sideshow. They’re offended that as the greatest tag team in the world, time is being sent on a gimmick like Jurassic Express.
**********
Lineup for next week’s Dynamite:
Young Bucks (c) vs. The Acclaimed for the AEW Tag Team Championships
Chris Jericho & MJF vs. Top Flight
Dustin Rhodes vs. Evil Uno
Jurassic Express vs. Colt Cabana, “5”, and “10
PAC vs. The Butcher
Hikaru Shida in action
Also, Chris Jericho will be on commentary. Dynamite will air either at its normal time or immediately following the end of NBA on TNT.

No Disqualification match: Kenny Omega (w/ Don Callis) defeated Joey Janela (w/ Sonny Kiss)
Janela tossed a garbage can in Omega’s face during his entrance as Callis told Schiavone to get out of commentary so Callis could speak. Schiavone told Callis “kiss my ass.”
Janela landed a tope suicida and set up a chair, but Omega turned it into a Kotaro Crusher onto the chair. Omega hit a baseball slide and his Terminator dive as Callis called the match with a house microphone, calling it “personal commentary.” Omega attacked Janela with a cookie sheet.
Callis handed Omega a microphone and Omega used it to amplify his attack as he and Callis bantered. Omega then landed a moonsault through a trash can. He continued his attack with chops and strikes with the cookie sheet before hitting a springboard stomp through the trash can. Omega set up for the One-Winged Angel, but Janela countered out with a reverse hurricanrana.
Kiss set up a table on the outside as Janela looked for weapons. Janela set up Omega on the table and put him through it with a diving leg drop. Back in the ring, Omega rolled out of the way of a top-rope moonsault and landed two V-Triggers. The One-Winged Angel followed for the win in about six minutes.
After the match, Callis said that there are no more unanswered questions after the AEW Title eliminator tournament. The Death Triangle came out and PAC said that there was unfinished business, as Fenix never lost to Omega because he couldn’t compete due to injury.
Callis said that wrestlers don’t tell the world champion what to do, but PAC had already spoken to Tony Khan, and on December 30, Omega will defend the AEW Championship against Fenix. Callis and Omega berated them as the show closed.

Archer revealed a positive COVID-19 test, so now Moxley will defend his AEW World title against Eddie Kingston.
Kingston was technically never eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale at All Out and has been mentioning that fact in his promos ever since. So tonight, he gets the World title shot he’s been clamoring for.
Lee will be making his second defense of the title since winning it from Cody on August 22. Lee brings an AEW career singles mark of 7-1 into the contest. Cassidy is 8-4 in AEW singles matches in 2020 and is coming off wins over Chris Jericho and Angelico.
Miro and Kip Sabian will team against Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss in Miro’s AEW in-ring debut.
AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida and NWA World Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa will team against Ivelisse and Diamante. Rosa defeated Ivelisse on last week’s Dynamite. Diamante and Ivelisse attacked Rosa after her win and Shida made the save.
An appearance by Chris Jericho and an appearance by Matt Hardy and Private Party have also been advertised.
Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team.
This was a mixed bag. I thought they used Miro smartly and he played to his strengths, mostly tagging in for a few power spots.
I thought that any talk of Miro having a new physique was overblown last week but I was wrong. He’s gigantic.
Janela and Kiss got some shine on Sabian early. Sabian and Miro cut Kiss off and worked him over. This was formulaic but the work was very good at this stage.
Janela got a hot tag and things got sloppy. Miro, Janela and Sabian brawled to the floor. Miro sold his ankle and was limping for a bit.
Miro tried to launch Sabian over the barricade to Janela. Janela was supposed to hit something mid-air but the camera crew didn’t get a good shot of it and it looked like they botched it anyway.
Miro used the former Accolade, now possibly called Game Over, for the submission win on Kiss.

Eddie Kingston entered and demanded the hard camera be focused on him. He said he and Mox used to be cut from the same cloth but then Mox sold out and became a sports entertainer, selling his soul to the devil.
He demanded that Moxley face him. Moxley entered and faced off with Kingston. A security team kept them apart.
This was an excellent segment. Give me a Kingston promo every week.

The announcers previewed the card. Kenny Omega joined the commentary desk for the next match.
**********
Hangman Page defeated Evil Uno (w/Dark Order)
This was exactly the same thing they did last week, there was no storyline advancement with Omega and Page. Omega was better on commentary this week than last week but still managed to talk under Page’s ring introduction.
JR tried to help Omega get over the storyline here and asked if he was going to help Page out. Omega said he was staying put because he’s a singles guy now.
Page is still getting his legs under him as a singles guy and his matches aren’t clicking on all cylinders yet.
They had a back and forth brawl before an ad break. Uno worked Page over in a picture-in-picture ad break.
Page made a comeback. Uno tossed him to the stage. Uno asked Dark Order to go to the back rather than interfere.
Page made another comeback and hit a standing shooting star for a two count. Uno hit a senton atomico for a two count.
Page hit a powerbomb with a stack cover for a near fall, then followed with a Buckshot Lariat for the pin.

Schiavone interviewed Matt Jackson backstage. Matt said fans may have noticed that he and Nick have been acting out of character lately.
He broke Tony’s phone and continued to act like a jerk.

TNT Championship match: Mr. Brodie Lee defeated Orange Cassidy to retain the title
Not much to the match here but it was more a backdrop for the post-match angle.
Cassidy did his comedy kicks and pockets spot.
Cassidy tried a suicide dive but the Dark Order lackies caught him and allowed Lee to take over. Lee beat on Cassidy through an ad break.
Cassidy made a comeback and ran wild with suicide dives. JR went on his weekly crusade to undermine talent by ripping on dives. Cassidy hit a pair of tornado DDTs for near falls.
John Silver jumped in. Cassidy hit him with an Orange Punch. Lee used the distraction to hit a powerbomb and a discus lariat for the pin.
**********
After the match, Cody’s music hit.
Cody entered. He has dark hair now.
Cody beat up some Dark Order lackies while Lee escaped.
**********
After a commercial, Lee cut a promo. He asked what kind of man Cody was for sending Dustin and Brandi to do his work for him while he was in a bubble somewhere.
Lee asked what kind of man Cody was that his wife was posting thirst traps and calling Lee “Daddy.”
Lee pulled out a dog collar and challenged Cody to a dog collar match. He gave Cody a week to respond.
This was another strong promo. The high point of this show tonight is the promos by a wide margin.
**********
Matt Hardy and Private Party made their way to the ring. Hardy said it was his birthday.
Hardy said he was attacked from behind last week. He used a lot of words to say that someone with a mask attacked him with a pipe or bat and noted that right after he was laid out, Jericho and Hager entered with a bat.
Hardy said he has a lot of enemies but was pointing the finger at Jericho.
Jericho and The Inner Circle entered. Sammy Guevara is back. Jericho said he didn’t attack Hardy. Jericho was carrying a baseball bat.
Hardy wanted to fight the whole Inner Circle. Quen and Kassidy talked sense to him and reminded him he’s not cleared yet.
Quen said he is cleared and laid out Jericho last week. Kassidy said he’s ready to make Le Champion his bitch next week.
**********
FTR and Tully Blanchard came to the ring for a promo. Tully said that Tag title matches on TV will now have a 20 minute time limit and he and FTR get to pick the opponents.
FTR are branding this as a weekly “brush with greatness.” They mentioned Best Friends as potential opponents.
Best Friends entered. FTR acted like they were ready to defend the titles right away. A referee came out and was about to ring the bell when Dax stopped him.
Cash said it wouldn’t be fair to Best Friends if they wrestled tonight and advised them to take a couple weeks to heal up and then maybe call Tully and they’ll set something up.
This was an effective segment.
**********
Thunder Rosa & Hikaru Shida defeated Ivelisse & Diamante
Rosa is great, Shida is great, this match was laid out really well, there’s just only so much Ivelisse and Diamante are capable of.
Rosa’s facepaint was a tribute to Road Warrior Animal.
Shida and Rosa were attacked during Shida’s intro.
Diamante and Ivelisse cut Rosa off. It’s kind of like when Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss are in together when Rosa and Ivelisse are in there at the same time in that it feels like a fight could break out at any time.
Shida got a hot tag during a commercial break. The match broke down.
Shida pinned Diamante after a falcon arrow and a shining wizard.
**********
Dasha Gonzalez was backstage with Chris Jericho.
Jericho said Isiah Kassidy is going to be a big star one day but not next week. He said next week he’s going down when he faces Le Champion.
MJF entered. Jericho and MJF continued to do their mutual appreciation society gimmick. It was very good.
**********
Jericho vs. Kassidy, Britt Baker in action, Ricky Starks vs. Darby Allin, FTR vs. SCU and a Jon Moxley appearance were advertised for next week’s Dynamite.
A 30 years of Jericho celebration was announced for the October 7 Dynamite.
The main event is next.

AEW World Championship match: Jon Moxley defeated Eddie Kingston to retain the title
Kingston is 38 and has worked a hard style for a long time. He’s at the top of his game as a promo and a character and that makes up for whatever physical limitations he has.
They had a brawl. It was intense and very good.
They traded a couple of cursory holds right awy but things quickly became the brawl that you would expect. They lit each other up with chops and strikes.
Kingston was in control before a commercial break and beat Moxley around ringside.
Moxley made a comeback with a tope and a piledriver for a near fall. Kingston hit a powerbomb for a two count. Kingston sold like he might have a stinger.
Moxley avoided two backfists and used a bulldog choke for the submission win.
A key point in the finish here is that Kingston never tapped, the referee called for the bell after Kingston appeared to be out.
**********
After the bell, Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix ran in to attack Moxley.
Will Hobbs ran in for the save. Penta and Fenix recovered and laid out Hobbs.
Darby Allin ran in to join the brawl. Allin sent Fenix and Penta outside wth skateboard shots.
Ricky Starks ran in and attacked Allin. Starks hit a big spear and hit Allin with the skateboard.
AEW has announced a change to the lineup for this Saturday’s All Out pay-per-view.
The “Tooth & Nail match” between Britt Baker and Big Swole has been moved to the All Out card. A tag match has been announced to take its place on the pre-show, with Private Party facing The Dark Order’s 3 & 4 (Alex Reynolds & John Silver).
Baker vs. Swole being moved to the main card was announced via a tweet from AEW president and CEO Tony Khan: “Hey let’s just make All Out tomorrow night the best wrestling ppv we can possibly do. Now on the main ppv card: Dr. Britt Baker v. Big Swole in the 1st ever Tooth & Nail Match emanating from Dr. Baker’s dental office, anything goes, no DQ + falls count anywhere. See you tomorrow!”
Baker vs. Swole will be a cinematic match.
The All Out pre-show will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday. The main card will then start at 8 p.m. Eastern. Here’s the updated list of announced matches for the show:

The Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy)
Broken Rules match: Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara
Tooth & Nail match: Britt Baker vs. Big Swole
Casino Battle Royale
Private Party vs. Alex Reynolds & John Silver (pre-show)
This week’s packed show started off with Taz and Excalibur running down the card.
FTR defeated The Initiative (Peter Avalon & Brandon Cutler)
Tully Blanchard was in the audience, scouting FTR once again. Could we be seeing a stable form before our eyes with FTR, Hangman Page & Shawn Spears? Cash and Dax dominated the first few minutes, but Cutler hit a flying forearm and the two hit a combo flapjack to start to get the heat on Cash. However, FTR hit a double front suplex across the top rope for a two count soon thereafter.
FTR DDT’d Cutler’s legs, slingshotting him into the middle rope for good measure. Dax cut off a tag attempt and they continued to beat on Cutler. Leva Bates distracted Dax, but he hit a back suplex anyway. Cash went for a dropkick, but Cutler dodged and made the hot tag to Avalon. Avalon hit a chop, enziguri, and a split-legged moonsault for a two count. Dax countered an Irish whip with a clothesline, leading to a combo spike piledriver for the pin and win to finish off a solid tag match.
The Young Bucks were at ringside and shook the winners’ hands after the match, impressed by their performance. Taz then threatened to sell FTR’s jackets on eBay if they forgot them at ringside.
Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss defeated Pineapple Pete & Michael Nakazawa
Nakazawa ate a dropkick from Kiss as the match started and took some Kiss offense, getting locked in the Kiss My Sass in the corner. He tried to escape with his baby oil, but Janela grabbed the oil and sprayed it on Kiss instead. Kiss slipped on the mat after Pete sprayed some oil on the mat. Pete later sprayed his partner’s back with oil and ran from one corner to the other, sliding off Nakazawa’s back into Rose in the corner. Later, after some mat wrestling, Pete tagged Janela which I think was a botch.
Excalibur kept referring to “Mike” and Taz was incredibly confused, not realizing that he was talking about Nakazawa which was hilarious. Janela hit a splash off the top rope on Pete for two. Nakazawa did his underwear spot but ate a superkick instead, and Kiss hit a legdrop on Pete for the pinfall.
Abadon defeated Skyler Moore
Abadon did a double leg and hit some ground and pound. Moore later hit a DDT, but Abadon sat up and scared her. Moore still managed to hit a front slam, but only got a two count. Abadon hit a Widow’s Peak for the win.
A good promo aired for Shawn Spears in which he talked about how the glove Tully Blanchard gave him was his protector.
The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) defeated Shawn Dean & Will Hobbs
Excalibur noted that the Dark Order of Evil Uno and Stu Grayson were in line for a tag title shot before the pandemic, slid down the rankings because of it, but are now back in line for another shot for tomorrow’s Dynamite. This was a good recap of their work in 2020 so far, and a reminder that AEW’s booking plans are largely planned well in advance.
Evil Uno hit a back suplex on Dean as they tried to isolate him in the ring because Hobbs is so big. Grayson shoved Hobbs and Uno dropkicked him off the apron. Dean hit a dropkick that knocked Grayson to the floor, and Dean hit a tope con giro and tagged out to Hobbs who hit a big spinebuster on Uno and an Oklahoma Stampede on Grayson for a two.
Grayson hit Knightfall on Hobbs and then Fatality on Dean for the pin and win.
Scorpio Sky defeated Corey Hollis
Both men exchanged hammerlocks to start the match, ending with a pinfall attempt for a quick one count. Sky hit a Manhattan Drop and then a russian leg sweep for a two count. Hollis pulled Sky’s leg, sending him crashing into the apron, and then hit a flying knee for two. Hollis hit a dropkick from behind and then stomped on Sky.
Sky reversed an Irish whip, but Hollis hit a kick off the middle rope for a two. Sky hit a big boot on Hollis for a two. Sky went for a cradle, but Hollis reversed it into a stunner. But, Sky put his feet up as Hollis went for a splash, leading to the TKO for the win in a great little squash match.
Penelope Ford (w/ Kip Sabian) defeated Kenzie Paige
Ford hit a clothesline to Paige’s back after an irish whip into the corner. Ford sent Paige to the opposite corner, but Kenzie clotheslined her and hit some mounted punches. Ford countered a corner run by directing her face into the middle turnbuckle. Excalibur and Taz had some golden commentary here as they tried to figure out a part of Ford’s gear, leading to Excalibur quoting “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” theme song.
Penelope hit a gutbuster and then a stunner. Kenzie fired back, but Ford hit a hard forearm of her own. Kenzie hit a superkick, but Ford responded with a pump kick, a handspring cutter, and a fisherman’s suplex for the win. The match was sloppy in parts, but there were moments that showed both women have the potential to be great.
Wardlow defeated Aaron Solow
Wardlow dominated this match early on, crushing Solow with power moves. Wardlow charged the corner, but Solow hit a few kicks. Wardlow caught him in midair and just threw him. Wardlow hit a lariat and put Solow on the top rope before kicking him in the face. The ref then stopped the match due to knockout.
Wardlow picked Solow up after and hit the F10 twice for good measure.
Best Friends defeated Alex Reynolds & John Silver of the Dark Order
Silver and Reynolds attacked Best Friends from behind. Trent came off the barricade and hit a spear on Reynolds and while Chuck Taylor hit a double stomp on Silver. They went for Strong Zero right away, but Silver cut them off and Dark Order hit a series of double team moves for a near fall on Trent. They got the heat on Trent for the next few minutes.
Silver hit a running slam for two and Reynolds hit a running cutter on Trent for two. They threw Taylor to the outside and continued to work over Trent. Trent ate some kicks and hit some hard forearms. Both men exchanged forearms but Trent took Silver’s head off with a clothesline. Reynolds took Taylor off the apron and hit a suplex before continuing to work over Trent.
Trent hit a backdrop driver on Silver and finally tagged out to Taylor who ran wild. Taylor avoided Reynolds and suplexed Silver into his own partner. Trent hit a release german off the top rope on Reynolds, and then Taylor hit the Awful Waffle on Silver for the win to finish a great tag match.
It’s interesting to see the development of Reynolds and Silver as they get closer and closer to a big win.
Lance Archer defeated Frankie Thomas
Archer won this match very quickly. he hit a pounce and then a suplex. Archer killed a guy at ringside and then continued to destroy Thomas. Archer then went for Blackout, but Thomas escaped. It was for naught though as Archer hit a chokeslam and the EVD Claw for the pinfall.
Orange Cassidy defeated Serpentico
Cassidy went for the superman punch early, but Serpentico went to the floor to avoid it. Serpentico hit a superkick and a quick DDT on Cassidy for two. Cassidy hit a suicide dive but got hit with a superplex. Serpentico went for a russian leg sweep, but Cassidy countered with a crucifix of sorts for the win.
Sammy Guevara defeated Fuego Del Sol
Fuego and the returning Guevara exchanged some lucha moves on the onset, but Guevara had the clear size advantage. Del Sol hit a northern lights suplex for two. Fuego went for a springboard, but Guevara hit him with a flying knee that got a two count. Guevara hit a vertical suplex for a two count and flipped Fuego over the top rope and to the floor in a pretty spectacular spot. Guevara threw him back into the ring but ate a superkick and a few other high flying moves before he dodged a top rope dive and hit the GTH for the pinfall.
Santana & Ortiz defeated SCU & Private Party (w/ Big Money Matt)
The early part of the match saw SCU and the Inner Circle members exchange most of the offense. Marq Quen tagged in and hit a hurricanrana on Daniels. Daniels later cradled Kassidy for a two count and Ortiz blind tagged in to assault Daniels. Santana & Ortiz got the heat on Daniels for the next few minutes before Kassidy broke up a pinfall attempt to save the match.
Daniels was forced to tag out to Quen as Kazarian was pulled off the apron, and he hit a tope con giro on Santana and Ortiz. Kassidy hit a moonsault on Ortiz but only got two. Private Party managed to hit the Silly String on Ortiz, but Kazarian came in and broke it up. Kaz got sent to the floor as Kassidy tagged out to Quen and they hit a combo splash and legdrop, right out of the Hardy Boys playbook.
Santana hit a rolling cutter on Quen, but ate a blue thunder bomb from Daniels. Ortiz hit Daniels wit ha stunner, but Kazarian hit a DDT on Ortiz. Kassidy landed a flatliner on Kazarian, but then Ortiz threw the slapjack at Quen and claimed they were going to us it. As the ref took it away, Ortiz punted Quen between the legs and rolled him up for a pinfall.
This was a solid tag main event to close the show, but one thing stood out to me about Dark this week: it was too long. A show that goes nearly two hours with mostly squash matches is a bit much to watch. With that being said, nothing on the show was bad and each match, in a vacuum, had a lot to offer.
Tony Khan has announced twelve matches for next week’s AEW Dark.
