Adam Copeland & Christian Cage win Tag Team titles at AEW Double or Nothing

New AEW Tag Team Champions were crowned at Double or Nothing.

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage emerged victorious in the opening match of Sunday’s show, defeating FTR in an I Quit New York Street Fight. Towards the end of the match, Beth Copeland came out to even the odds, focusing on Stokely Hathaway. However she was shoved into the steel steps and was about to be put through a flaming table when, at the last minute, she grabbed Stokely and put him in harm’s way, sending both him and Cash Wheeler through the table.

With two of the three out of commission, Cope and Cage focused on Dax Harwood, with Cage putting him in a sharpshooter. Cope followed with a crossface, but Harwood refused to quit. Once Beth introduced a spiked board, Copeland used it and finally got Harwood to say I Quit, ending the match.

Cope & Cage won their initial match against FTR back at All Out, but took time off after FTR injured Beth during their match. They returned and faced FTR once again at AEW Dynasty in April, but failed to win the titles. It was then that Copeland challenged the champions to one final match saying if they didn’t win, they would never team again.

AEW World title match, Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly added to next AEW Dynamite

A match for the AEW World title and a new title eliminator match is set for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite & Collision three-hour special.

During Saturday’s AEW Collision, it was confirmed that Speedball Mike Bailey would challenge the winner between Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara. Allin emerged victorious, hitting the coffin drop for the win. As a result, he will add yet another challenging match to his grueling schedule just days before he is set to face MJF at Double or Nothing next weekend.

It was also announced on Collision that Jon Moxley will face Kyle O’Reilly in a title eliminator match where if O’Reilly wins, he will earn a future shot at Moxley’s Continental title. The show opened with Moxley cutting a promo hyping the the match, saying he won’t make excuses about losing twice to O’Reilly before, but he was not the same Jon Moxley he was six months ago. He warned O’Reilly that he better be prepared for a Moxley he’s never faced before.

O’Reilly later cut a promo promising to beat Moxley on Wednesday and take his Continental title.

Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong of the Conglomeration will also be in action on Wednesday, taking on FTR for the AEW Tag Team titles. Meanwhile, the match between Mark Briscoe and Tommaso Ciampa will now be an Anything Goes match. The two were seen brawling on Saturday and ended up in the ring. Mark went for the Jay Driller on top of a chair but Ciampa countered with a low blow. Cassidy and O’Reilly eventually came down for the save, with Briscoe getting on the mic and establishing the new stipulation for Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Will Ospreay will take on Kaysuyori Shibata, Divine Dominion will continue their 5-minute Women’s Tag team title eliminator series, and an eight-woman tag team match will take place where Triangle of Madness and Athena will team to take on Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, and the Brawling Birds.

Swerve Strickland will also appear for the first time on Dynamite in months, having returned at Supercard of Honor on Friday after taking out Bandido with a cop killer on a chair.

The Rascalz earn future AEW Tag Team title match on Collision

The Rascalz have earned a future AEW title match.

In the main event of Saturday’s Collision, The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier) defeated FTR to earn a shot at their Tag Team titles.. The Young Bucks played into the finish, coming out and distracting Harwood long enough for him to walk into a superkick. The Rascalz then hit the Hot Fire Flame for the surprise victory.

A big angle took place after the match when GOA ran down to attack The Young Bucks. FTR meanwhile turned their attention to the Jackson family at ringside. They proceeded to throw powder at The Young Bucks’ father while dragging their brother Malachi, a former wrestler, into the ring. They proceeded to give Malachi a stuff piledriver as Jack Perry attempted to make the save, only to be laid out by Ricochet who blindsided Perry from the crowd. The closing moments of Collision saw The Rascalz and The Young Bucks tend to Malachi.

FTR are currently set to defend the AEW Tag Team titles against The Young Bucks at Revolution after Nick & Matt Jackson defeated The Rascalz and the returning Private Party in a three-way number one contender’s match on a recent episode of Dynamite.

Future World Tag Team title match made on AEW Dynamite

AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR now have their next title challengers confirmed after Wednesday’s Maximum Carnage edition of Dynamite.

Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler will defend against the new Don Callis-led team of Jake Doyle & Mark Davis who won a four-way title eliminator to earn the shot.

The end came when Davis hit a pull-up piledriver on Kevin Knight for the pin. That was after Doyle countered a Mike Bailey hurricanrana attempt by blocking it and throwing Bailey over the top rope onto both the Young Bucks and the Gates of Agony on the floor.

After the match, Doyle and Davis were confronted by Harwood and Wheeler in the ring and had to be pulled apart. A date was not announced for when the match will take place.

Doyle, the former Jake Something, made his Dynamite debut last week after signing with the company. Davis will be looking for his first AEW title of any kind while he is a former ROH Tag Team Champion.

FTR is in their third run with the titles after defeating Bandido at last November’s Full Gear. They have two successful title defenses since then, both against the Bang Bang Gang.

FTR win Tag Team titles at AEW Full Gear

New AEW Tag Team Champions have been crowned.

FTR are now three-time AEW Tag Team Champions, defeating Brodido at Saturday’s Full Gear event. In a wild back and forth match, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler managed to isolate Bandido after hitting Brody King with a piledriver on the apron. Bandido attempted to fight back, but eventually found himself outnumbered and accepted his fate as he took the shatter machine, giving FTR the win and tying with the Young Bucks for most AEW Tag Team title reigns.

In the weeks leading to Full Gear, FTR and Stokely Hathaway had focused on Bandido and his family, insulting his grandmother and Bandido’s brother Gravity during shows. At one point, FTR attacked Gravity while the champions were stuck in a locked room, with Stokely guarding. Eventually Brody King burst through the door and managed to escape.

Brodido had held the titles for 90 days, originally winning them from The Hurt Syndicate in a three-way match at Forbidden Door that also involved FTR. During their time as champions, they defended against the likes of Kazuchika Okada & Konosuke Takeshita and also defended the titles in CMLL. Bandido remains the ROH World Champion.

Young Bucks advance in AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament

Image: AEW

While they have been down on their luck since this month’s defeat at AEW All In, The Young Bucks still got it when they need to.

The former three-time AEW Tag Team Champions picked up an important win during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, defeating The Outrunners in the AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament to advance to the semifinals.

The Jackson brothers picked up the win after a TK/Meltzer Driver to Turbo Floyd for the pin.

In the semifinals, they will face the winners of Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) vs. The Gates of Agony which takes place on Thursday’s live Collision. On the other side of the bracket, FTR will take on The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson) in a semifinal.

The winners of the tournament will challenge AEW Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate at next month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view in London, England. Of the remaining teams, only FTR and the Bucks have previously held the titles. Matt & Nick Jackson haven’t held them since October 2024.

AEW tag team advances in Title Eliminator tournament

Another team advanced in the AEW Tag Team Title Eliminator tournament on Saturday.

Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson) advanced on Collision, defeating Big Bill and Bryan Keith to make it to the semifinals. The finish had Keith attempt a sunset flip after Robinson went for a frankensteiner, but Gunn came in and reversed the sunset flip, giving the Bang Bang Gang the win. They will now face FTR, who were the first team to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday by defeating JetSpeed.

In an interview online, Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn said they dedicated the match to Colten Gunn, who suffered an injury recently and will be out of action. They then talked about their future opponents, FTR:

A tournament to crown new number one contenders for the Tag Team titles began on Wednesday, but when brackets were shown, only FTR and JetSpeed’s names were shown. That was rectified on Saturday shortly before the show as Tony Khan released the full bracket. The winners of the tournament will go on to challenge The Hurt Syndicate for the AEW Tag Team titles at Forbidden Door on August 24.

The next match in the tournament takes place on Wednesday when The Young Bucks battle with The Outrunners.

AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament kicks off, first team advances

A new AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament will determine who challenges reigning champions The Hurt Syndicate (seen above) at next month’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Announced at the onset of Dynamite, eight teams will compete in the tournament but only two actual teams were revealed: FTR and JetSpeed who squared off on tonight’s show. As of this writing, none of the dates for the other matches have been revealed, but the commentary team said it will continue on Saturday’s Collision.

FTR won the competitive match to advance as Dax Harwood rolled up Kevin Knight with the assistance of Stokely Hathaway’s crutch. Harwood and Cash Wheeler are looking for their first Tag Team title shot since August 2024.

Afterward, Adam Copeland came out and said while he can’t touch FTR, he found two guys who could. Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin (with MVP) then came out and brawled with FTR before officials eventually pulled them off.

Lashley and Benjamin have held the titles since January and have six successful defenses. The last came in a three-way at this month’s All In.

The title match is the second bout announced for the London-based pay-per-view at the O2 Arena on Sunday, August 24th.

AEW Tag Team title eliminator match taking place next week

The next contenders to the AEW Tag Team titles will be determined on AEW TV next week.

During Saturday’s AEW Collision, The Outrunners were cutting a backstage promo when they saw reigning titleholders The Hurt Syndicate walk in. They stopped the champions and MVP and said they heard if the Murder Machines beat a real team, they get a title shot.

MVP then said he had good news and bad news. The good: if they beat the Machines, the shot is theirs. The bad: they have to face the Hurt Syndicate.

It was later said the match would take place “next week” but didn’t indicate if it was on this Wednesday’s Dynamite from Oceanside, California, or this Saturday’s Collision from Oakland, California.

Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin just wrapped up their first month as champions and successfully defended their titles against The Gunns earlier this month.

Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum have had one previous shot at the titles in a four-way against then-champions Private Party at last November’s Full Gear. If Brian Cage and Lance Archer pick up the win, it will be their first shot at the titles as a team.

Ospreay & Omega face-to-face, Tag Team title match added to AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega and WIll Ospreay will meet face-to-face this Wednesday.

During an interview that took place after Dynamite, Will Ospreay said that his battles with Omega were legendary, and were linked through one man, Don Callis. He said it was time he has a chat with Omega, and wanted to do it on the next AEW Dynamite in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Since returning from injury, Omega has been targeted by the Don Callis family, who are not done with him. Despite defeating Brian Cage on Dynamite, Omega was jumped by the rest of the Callis family until Ospreay made the save, helping clear the ring.

Also on Wednesday we will see Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin go for the AEW Tag Team titles against current champions Private Party. After Lashley, Benjamin, and MVP defeated Private Party & Mark Briscoe on Wednesday, MVP considered themselves the new number one contenders to the titles and issued the challenge.

Also announced is Samoa Joe taking on Nick Wayne after Joe made his return on the last Dynamite, taking out members of The Patriarchy. Jamie Hayter will also look to score a measure of revenge by facing Julia Hart following her loss in their last match on January 1.

Here’s the current lineup for next Wednesday in Knoxville, Tennessee:

  • Will Ospreay & Kenny Omega meet face-to-face
  • Cope vs. PAC
  • AEW Tag Team titles: Private Party defend against The Hurt Business (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin)
  • Samoa Joe vs. Nick Wayne
  • Julia Hart vs. Jamie Hayter

Four-way Tag Team title match announced for AEW Full Gear

A four-way match for the AEW Tag Team titles is official for Full Gear.

It was announced on this week’s Collision that Private Party will be defending the Tag Team titles at Full Gear in a four-way match. Contenders will be determined via a Full Gear 4-Way Contenders Series that will begin on next Saturday’s Collision. The series will include the following matches:

The winners of these three matches will advance to Full Gear on November 23, where they will face Private Party for the titles.

Two new matches set for AEW WrestleDream

Image: AEW

After calling out the Young Bucks on this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Private Party will get their shot to defeat the Jackson brothers for the AEW Tag Team titles at this month’s WrestleDream.

Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy earned their shot by defeating both House of Black and Top Flight in a three-way main event on Saturday’s Collision.

Quen and Kassidy have never held the titles while the Bucks will be looking for the fifth defense of the titles they won at April’s Dynasty.

The two teams have shared a history since the creation of AEW in 2019 that began in the inaugural Tag Team title tournament when Private Party defeated the Bucks on the second-ever episode of Dynamite. Since they, they have faced each other twice in traditional tag team action with the Bucks winning both of them.

**********

In another new bout confirmed for the show, Darby Allin will take on rival Brody King.

After Allin defeated Johnny TV to open the show, Allin took to the microphone to reiterate his open challenge for WrestleDream and how no one had answered it. As he walked to the back, the House of Black member emerged from the back and attacked Allin, choking him against the ring post while saying he accepted.

The two also have an extensive AEW history that includes a 2022 coffin match Allin won and key interactions to close out both the 2022 and 2024 Royal Rampage matches.

Here’s the updated lineup for next Saturday’s pay-per-view from Tacoma, Washington:

  • AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson defends against Jon Moxley
  • AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) defend against Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)
  • TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Katsuyori Shibata
