James Storm almost shed happy tear seeing TNA World title at WWE WrestleMania

TNA legend James Storm got emotional seeing the company’s World Championship featured at WWE Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

When Joe Hendry was TNA World Champion, he made a surprise appearance as an entrant in the Rumble and later competed at Mania, losing to Randy Orton in a non-title match. WWE and TNA working together makes Storm feel like he’s in an alternate timeline, but he thinks the relationship is “really cool” for the wrestlers who are in TNA today.

Storm told Insight with Chris Van Vliet that he almost shed a tear of happiness seeing Hendry appear with the TNA World Championship on WWE’s biggest stage.

“I actually almost shed a tear,” Storm said. “Because I was happy for Joe, but I was really happy for TNA. And people can say whatever they want to say about, you know, ‘Oh, this was not a good look.’ No, it was a good look. It’s the biggest show of the year and they have another company’s belt like being [shown].”

The Hendry vs. Orton match was divisive with some fans being critical of the TNA World Champion losing in three minutes, but Storm believes Hendry represented the company well.

“I don’t understand what the big deal is,” he said. “You know, like I thought Joe went out there and did the company big time justice.”

Storm, who still wrestles on the indies, was part of the first-ever TNA show in 2002 and is one of the most decorated wrestlers in the history of the promotion, including a solo World Championship reign and Tag Team title runs with Chris Harris as America’s Most Wanted and Bobby Roode as Beer Money.

The TNA World Championship is still featured on WWE programming with NXT star Trick Williams now holding the title. In what was the first TNA World Championship match to ever take place in WWE, Williams won the belt from Hendry at NXT Battleground last month.

Big Cass appears at Impact Rebellion, replaces Eric Young

Big Cass appeared on tonight’s Impact Rebellion event under a new name, filling in for Eric Young.

Cass appeared at Rebellion under the name W. Morrissey. He replaced Eric Young in a match where he teamed up with the rest of Violent by Design (Joe Doering, Rhino, and Deaner) to take on James Storm, Chris Sabin, Willie Mack, and Eddie Edwards. Morrisey picked up the win for his team, pinning Mack after hitting the East River Crossing. After the match, Morrissey continued to attack Mack as the rest of Violent by Design posed on the entrance ramp.

Right before the match, Young said in a backstage segment he was injured and unable to compete tonight. He told someone off-camera that they were not ready for the truth, or to join Violent by Design, but they were ready for the opportunity to show who they are.

Cass has been making appearances in the independent scene since February. He had disappeared from pro wrestling following an altercation at a WrestlePro show in September 2019 where he was kicked out of the building after an altercation with Joey Janela backstage.

Chris Harris appears on Impact Wrestling

Chris Harris appeared on tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling, accompanying James Storm for his 1,000th match in the promotion.

Jake Something and Chris Sabin introduced Harris in a backstage promo early on tonight’s episode. The three accompanied Storm for his match against Eric Young in the main event. The finish had Young contronting Harris at ringside. Harris laid out Young with a punch and was thrown back into the ring, where Storm picked up the win with a superkick. The four celebrated the win as the show closed.

Together, Storm and Harris formed America’s Most Wanted, one of the more prolific teams in NWA-TNA during the promotion’s early years. The team held the NWA World Tag Team titles six times between 2002 and 2006, and also won the Wrestling Observer Award for Tag Team of the Year in 2005. The team disbanded in late 2006, with Storm turning on Harris.

Storm later formed another successful team in Impact Wrestling, Beer Money, with Bobby Roode.

Impact Wrestling live results: James Storm’s 1000th match

Preview by Josh Nason

James Storm’s long and winding wrestling road had led to the final Tuesday edition of Impact Wrestling as he will wrestle his 1000th match for the company, fittingly against a fellow Impact mainstay in Eric Young.

Storm started with then-TNA in 2002 with the promotion being a constant over his next 19 years with appearances for New Japan Pro Wrestling, ROH, MLW, NXT, and dozens of indie promotions sprinkled in.

In other action, Sami Callihan will take on Larry D (w/ Acey Romero) as a follow-up to Callihan sticking up for rival Trey Miguel against XXXL; X-Division Champion Ace Austin and Madman Fulton will take on Josh Alexander and former champion TJP; and Brian Myers will battle Suicide in one-on-one action.

Additionally, the build to Impact World Champion Rich Swann vs. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega at April’s Rebellion will continue.

On the Impact BTI preshow, Rohit Raju will team with Hernandez to take on Fallah Bahh and former ally Shera.

Our live coverage begins at 8 PM Eastern.

Rohit Raju & Hernandez defeated Fallah Bahh & Mahabali Shera on BTI

* * * * * * * * * *

Opening video recapped last week’s main event, where Karl Anderson defeated Eddie Edwards with help of Gallows. Also, AEW’s Kenny Omega and Rich Swann’s promos, as they build to their Rebellion match.

Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire ‘n Flava (Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz) defeated Havok & Nevaeh in a non-title match

This match came up after Hogan and Steelz offered a non-title match to Havok and Nevaeh, in order to prove that they had their number and couldn’t get a win over them.

Most of this match followed the usual layout of these team’s matches, with Havok and Nevaeh dominating early over Hogan with the power advantage, but quickly enough being cut off when Hogan and Steelz start using their tag team proficiency.

Havok was the babyface in peril until she finally used her power advantage to break out and tag in Nevaeh. Last couple of minutes saw all women hit their signature move before Hogan got the win over Havok after a frog splash from Steelz. Good match.

After the match, Nevaeh and Havok seemed to be on the same side, but Nevaeh finally snapped and took out Havok. Months of losses and frustration built up to today. Nevaeh kept saying that She thought she was the weak link and Havok made her doubt herself. All the writing was on the wall, this worked out as expected.

– D’lo Brown & Matt Striker ran down tonight’s card, including the announcements of Rebellion’s new date to April 25th, and Impact moving to Thursdays next week.

– Gia Miller interviewed James Storm, prior to his 1000th match on Impact Wrestling. Storm said that as much as this should be a celebration, this is about dedication. He talked about coming up with ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris and how Bob Ryder got him his first deal, and the rest is history. Sabin and Something bought out Harris as a special surprise for Storm. They hugged, America’s Most Wanted reunited for one night.

– Miller interviewed Deonna Purrazzo and Susan. Purrazzo said that she was unstoppable and had been beating everyone, but Susan interrupted her to start talking trash about Jazz, who happened to run and attacked Susan before she could continue.

Sami Callihan defeated Larry D (with Acey Romero)

Last week, as Trey Miguel was wrestling Acey Romero, Callihan surprisingly saved Miguel from a beat up at the hands of XXXL. D requested for a match against Callihan.

Match was a bit of a hoss fight, with a lot of striking, a lot of clotheslines, a lot of slamming each other, both in and outside the ring.

The match was mostly back and forward, Callihan gave a lot to D, even a great discus lariat that could have led to a good near fall if not for the splash he went for. Callihan got one with a DVD. Finish came after both men brawled on the apron, ending with Callihan dropping D with a piledriver.

After the match, Acey Romero attacked Callihan, and commentary made notice that Trey Miguel didn’t return the favor and save Callihan.

– We got a big video package of FinJuice’s run throughout the New Japan Cup, and all the mentions of the Impac tag titles during the tour.

Omega, Callis, and the Good Brothers were watching the commercial and making comments about how FinJuice got better, but Anderson and Gallows were not impressed.

– Backstage, Callihan approached Miguel about helping him last week, but Miguel didn’t return the favor. Callihan told Miguel that he lacked passion and that was the reason why he was pushing him to his limit. Callihan told him that he needed to capitalize on all that anger, and offered to help him do it. Callihan told Miguel that he is going to go to D’Amore and ask for a tag match against XXXL. Miguel was reluctant, but Callihan gave him time to think about it.

Brian Myers defeated Suicide

No story here between these two, but Myers has yet to answer Matt Cardona’s challenge to settle their differences.

Match saw an early advantage by Suicide, using his speed to dodge around, have several counters to Myers’ attempts to cut him up, btu eventually, Myers caught him with a reverse STO and his big lariat for the win. This was like a reverse squash if there is such a thing, with Suicide having control throughout the match, and the Myers winning with one shot.

After the match, Myers addressed Cardona, saying he was trying to get the rub by wrestling Myers. He told him that Myers was the face of Impact and so he declined Cardona’s challenge.

– Backstage, Jazz went to Tommy Dreamer, who is booking Hardcore Justice. Dreamer proposed an ultimate opportunity match, that Jazz can get a shot at Purrazzo, if Jazz puts something up for grabs. Jazz put her career on the line. Interesting since she was days away from retiring before coming to Impact, so she could definitely just end it there, but also, she could get the title and keep on going for a few more months.

– We got our weekly AEW commercial with Khan and Schiavone. They talked about tomorrow’s Dynamite card. Khan did a total heel promo about how he controls wrestling and Omega’s bookings, and so once he wins the Impact title, they’ll lose control of their title.

– Over at Swinger’s Paradise, Bravo and Swinger talked about making a lot of money by opening bookings for Rebellion. Omega and Callis walked in, wondering what the odds for Omega vs Swann were, which were 1:1 until Callis showed Swinger their One Winged Angel video. Callis put down a 20K bet on Omega.

X Division Champion Ace Austin & Madman Fulton defeated TJP & Josh Alexander

The feud between these men, around the X Division title, continues. Last week, TJP defeated Austin by DQ after Fulton attacked TJP, only to get saved by Alexander, and so TJP and Alexander got their chance to take on Austin.

Story of the match was that both Alexander and TJP wanted to get their hands on Austin, so they kept trying to steal the spotlight on each other, blind tag each other, and so Austin and Fulton were able to easily gain the upper hand. As the match went on, both men started to work better together in order to counter the power of Fulton. It wasn’t until the end that they started fighting each other to be the legal man, giving Austin the opening to roll TJP for the pin.

Overall good match, that saw Austin and Fulton cut off TJP for a couple of minutes. TJP made a comeback and tagged out, leading to a short striking exchange between Alexander and Fulton. At the end, the match broke down with everyone in it, building to TJP and Alexander having the win over Austin, but TJP stole the tag from Alexander, and as they distracted themselves, Austin for the pin.

– Don Callis approached Willie Mack and told him he liked Mack a lot and had big plans for him. Callis showed Mack the One Winged Angel video, only to get interrupted by Swann himself. Callis told Swann and he and Omega loved Swann’s finisher and was looking forward to kicking out of it.

Swann told Callis that he won’t get in his head and that he should come to his friends, he told Callis that if he wasn’t his boss, he’d slap him right there and now. Callis told him that for the next five minutes, he wasn’t the VP and picked up a fight with Swann. Omega and the Good Brothers jumped Swann and Mack until Edwards made the save.

– We got a tease vignette for something that looks punk, to debut in April.

– Backstage, Rohit Raju tried to talk tag team plans with Hernandez after their win on BTI, but Hernandez told him their relation was based on him getting paid and nothing else.

– We got a promo by VBD, with EY talking about his match with James Storm tonight. He said that this company was built on men like them, and tonight, he was going to show him that this world belonged to him. Ok promo.

– Tommy Dreamer had a meeting with the Knockouts to announce the plans for Hardcore Justice. Purrazzo cut a promo on how she’ll retire Jazz and how she is hoping to get some competition from the roster soon. Dreamer tried to bring out Su Yung out of Susan, but he was unsuccessful.

Dreamer announced a #1 Contender women’s scramble match with anything goes rules. Winner gets her shot at Rebellion. Havok, Grace, and Havok were into the idea, but Dashwood wasn’t that happy about it.

– Brown and Striker announced Omega & the Good Brothers vs Swann, Mack, and Edwards in Omega’s Impact Wrestling TV debut, taking place next week.

James Storm (with Chris Sabin, Jake Something, & ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris) defeated Eric Young (with Violent By Design)

Beyond celebrating Storm’s 1000th match on Impact Wrestling, this match is coming from the ongoing feud between Storm, Something, and Sabin against Violent By Design.

Really good match, but not as special as it could have been. Storm controlled the action early on, but after distracting himself, EY cut him off after ramming him head first into the ring post. EY worked over Storm’s head, but it wasn’t long for Storm to make a comeback.

Storm hit the eye of the storm of a near fall, EY hit the top rope elbow for one himself. Finish came down to both teams brawling outside after Storm had been tossed to the floor, Harris made sure EY couldn’t get his hands on his mask, setting him up for Storm to take him out with the last call for the win. No big celebration, Storm and his guys just posed on the ramp as the show went off the air.

I can see these two teams having a big match soon, it could be perfect for a Lethal Lockdown if and when Lockdown takes place.

Storm vs. Young, Omega appearance announced for Impact Wrestling

James Storm is set to face Eric Young next week while Kenny Omega will make another appearance.

It was announced tonight that Omega would be appearing next week following his return to the promotion this week. In tonight’s promo, Don Callis listed a number of champions that he considered inferior to Omega, including Lou Thesz, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Jon Moxley, among others. Omega also made sure to mention Kota Ibushi’s name. Both men spoke about the upcoming title for title match at Rebellion on April 24, where Omega will put the AEW World title on the line against Impact World champion Rich Swann.

James Storm will also be having his 1,000th match in Impact next week. In a backstage promo, Scott D’Amore walked up to Storm and announced that he would be facing Eric Young in a singles match. Storm has wrestled for the company off and on since 2002, right around the launch of NWA-TNA.

Also announced for next week is a Knockouts Tag Team title match, where Fire ‘n Flava (Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan) will defend against Havok and Nevaeh. Ace Austin and Madman Fulton are also set for tag team action, as they will face Josh Alexander and TJP.

Impact Wrestling live results: Good Brothers vs. Sabin & Storm

Preview by Josh Nason

Ahead of this Saturday’s No Surrender, the tag team titles will be on the line on tonight’s edition of Impact Wrestling.

The Good Brothers will defend the belts against Chris Sabin and James Storm with Private Party awaiting the winner this Saturday on Impact Plus. Sabin and Storm made the challenge last week to Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson which got accepted for tonight.

Tonight’s show will also feature the contract signing for Impact World Champion Rich Swann vs. Tommy Dreamer ahead of their match Saturday.

Also in action Tuesday: Trey Miguel, Josh Alexander, Willie Mack & Suicide vs. Chris Bey, Ace Austin, Blake Christian & Daivari ahead of the first-ever triple threat revolver match Saturday; the returning ODB vs. Kimber Lee; Kiera Hogan vs. Nevaeh; and Cousin Jake giving an answer to Eric Young’s invitation to join his Violent By Design group.

Our coverage kicks off at 8 PM Eastern.

* * * * * * * * * *

Opening video recapped the ongoing feuds between VBD and Cousin Jake, Sami Callihan and Trey Miguel, and last week’s main event where Moose and Chris Bey defeated Tommy Dreamer and Rich Swann.

Josh Alexander, Suicide, Willie Mack, & Trey Miguel defeated Shawn Daivari, Chris Bey, Blake Christian, & Ace Austin (with Madman Fulton)

This match is a preview of No Surrender’s triple threat revolver match, where these eight men will be participating.

Match saw Josh Alexander and company dominate early on, pairing up, one-by-one with someone from the other team. It wasn’t until it came down to Daivari and Mack, that the former cut off Mack and the heel team got control of the ring. Mack was an interesting choice for babyface in peril, having Suicide there.

Trey Miguel got the hot tag against Christian for a great fast paced sequence. Every man started to take turns on doing spots, leading to Alexander locking in an ankle lock on Austin, with Christian breaking it up with a springboard 450, but causing dissension in the team after Austin accused him of going for his leg. After a couple of spots from Suicide, taking out Bey and Austin, it came down to Miguel and Christian again, with the latter getting a good near fall, but Miguel recovered and locked in what Striker called an hour glass submission for the win.

After the match, Callihan interrupted with a video on the screen. Callihan said that he looks great when everything goes his way, but it’s just a matter of time before he fails again and flakes on the company again.

Trey Miguel has the momentum to win the revolver match, but the Callihan factor is likely to cost him the match on Saturday.

– We got a video of present and past wrestlers wishing the best for Dreamer on his 50th birthday. Weird to see this here, but it was a nice video.

– D’lo Brown and Matt Striker ran down tonight’s card.

Kimber Lee (with Deonna Purrazzo & Susan) defeated ODB

ODB returned last week to aid Jazz and Jordynne Grace as they were being ganged up by Purrazzo and company. ODB said that she’d be sticking around for a while.

ODB dominated from the get go with a chop exchange. Lee did at one point cut off ODB’s momentum, but she was never in full control, ODB kept blocking and getting shots in on Lee. It was a matter of minutes that ODB made a full comeback, hit the bronco buster, the dirty 12, and a chest press for a near fall.

Finish saw Purrazzo and Susan interfere, and so Jazz and Grace ran down for the save, but throughout the distraction, Kimber Lee recovered, played possum, and got ODB with a small package for the win.

ODB looked good, this wasn’t a match that would have exposed her, Lee is quite good at working any level of pace, and thus made ODB look good. This seems to be headed to a 6-woman match.

– Over at Swinger’s Paradise, Fallah Bahh is trying to play blackjack by betting a cookie. Finally, it was revealed that Swinger had Hernandez’ money roll, right before Bahh got kicked out and Swinger did some comedy with Alisha Edwards. This was bad as usual.

– Backstage, Susan complained to Purrazzo and Lee about the chaos out there. Purrazzo and Lee were happy for the win, telling Susan to not worry about them, but Susan was angry and wanted to talk to the manager, she said he’d go ask D’Amore for a 6-Knockouts match for No Surrender. Purrazzo expressed that she was getting tired of Susan.

– Cousin Jake came out to the ring to address Eric Young’s invitation to join Violent By Design. Jake said when he got here, he thought he had it all right, but now everything had been turned around on him and he had to make a choice.

EY, Joe Doering, and Cody Deaner walked out to join Jake in the ring. EY told Jake that he had time to think and that it seemed he was finally understanding what was going on here.

Jake teased joining by getting rid of his vest, but then threw EY’s invitation, said he’d stand for something, he stood for Jake Something, and attacked Deaner.

VBD teased Pillmanizing Something’s neck again, but Deaner stopped him because he wanted a match with him first. Deaner vs Something at No Surrender! Good angle, Jake Something, even in defeat, looked like a great babyface.

– Rohit Raju and Mahabali Shera cut a promo. Raju said that TJP couldn’t beat him and had to rely on his monster, Manik, and thus Raju had done the same, and called upon his own monster, Shera.

– We got our weekly AEW commercial with Khan and Schiavone. They talked about KENTA’s debut attacking Jon Moxley. Khan talked about himself being the forbidden door and thanked IMPACT because it was them that made him realize he has the power to do whatever he wants if he opened his mind to it. Khan thanked Callis and Omega for opening his mind, and teased coming back to Nashville.

– Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows cut a promo backstage on Chris Sabin and James Storm, their challengers for tonight’s main event. They put them over as great wrestlers, but they were not as good as them. AMW, Beer Money, and the MCMGs had been great teams until the Good Brothers showed up. Good promos.

Neveah (with Havok) defeated Kiera Hogan (with Tasha Steelz) via DQ

Ever since Fire n Flava won the titles, Havok and Nevaeh have been following and looking to get a rematch for the titles. Last week, Havok defeated Steelz, and now Neveah tries to make it 2 wins for the team.

Match was a similar formula as last week, with Neveah having some power advantage and control until the smaller Hogan cut her off with the aid of Steelz from the outside. Neveaeh quickly  made a comeback, with quite an ugly looking slam, Hogan seemed like she landed on her side. She seemed ok.

Last couple of minutes, they traded some near falls, but to change things for once, the referee got distracted with Havok, giving Steelz the opening to attack Neveah, except the referee was able to see Steelz on his peripheral vision, and so he DQ’d her.

With two singles wins over the champions, we’re either headed for the non-title tag match at No Surrender, or straight into the championship bout.

– We got more videos for Tommy Dreamer’s 50th birthday, but now from the wrestlers from AEW, including a great one from MJF and Jericho. Actually, most of them were about how old he was and some were surprised he had made it to 50.

– Hogan and Steelz complained to D’Amore about referee Tolle. Since they brought up that both of them lost, they’ll be defending the titles at No Surrender, but to make it fair, Tolle won’t be the referee during the match, and even if he was, it won’t matter, because it will be a No DQs match.

– XXXL, Tenille Dashwood, and Kaleb with a K came out to the ring to call out Decay about their match at No Surrender. Larry D and Romero explained that they wouldn’t hit a woman and so Dashwood was out to join them.

Dashwood cut a great promo talking trash to Decay and that there is no way “Tooth Decay” will find a third member. Kaleb then challenged anyone in Decay for a match tonight.

Out came Rosemary and Crazzy Steve. Rosemary said they did indeed find a third member for the team, and so she introduced Black Taurus!

Black Taurus defeated Kaleb with a K

This was a hell of a squash, Taurus just ran over Kaleb like a freight train. Kaleb tried to cheat, to run, to counter, but Taurus just destroyed him in about 2 minutes with a spinning slam. Black Taurus is the perfect fit for Decay, I love the addition!

It’ll be Rosemary, Crazzy Steve, and Black Taurus vs XXXL & Tenille Dahwood at No Surrender.

– Backstage, Brian Myers paid off Hernandez for last week’s bounty. Hernandez wanted more money since his singles match at No Surrender was now a tag team. After Myers walked away, we saw Fallah Bahh eye Hernandez and his newly earned money.

Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) defeated Chris Sabin & James Storm via DQ to retain the titles.

After Alex Shelley wasn’t able to make it to Hard To Kill, Chris Sabin recluted the help of his former rival, now friend, James Storm. They made their intentions clear, that they wanted to chase the tag titles, that the MCMGs hadn’t directly lost. The Good Brothers are scheduled to defend the titles against AEW’s Private Party at No Surrender, who were not happy that Sabin and Storm sneaked in a title shot before their shot, and have threatened to get involved tonight.

Match was your quintessential tag match, with the babyface having some opening momentum early on. They managed to cut off Anderson for a couple of minutes before Anderson had to rely on an eye rake on Sabin to finally change the momentum and cut the ring in half on Sabin.

As Sabin was in peril, Matt Hardy and Private Party walked out to watch the match from the ramp. The distraction ended up aiding Sabin, as he got away from Gallow’s hands and tag in Storm. After he ran wild for a bit, Storm and Sabin went for a pin, but Private Party ran in, nonchalantly in front of the referee and broke up the pin, with the intention of getting Sabin and Storm DQ’d.

– Backstage, Hardy congratulated Private Party for showing who they are and not letting anyone step before them in line. Hardy hyped them for No Surrender. Scott D’Amore confronted them and told them they crossed the line, and because he now needs to make sure that Sabin and Storm don’t interfere on Saturday, he’s adding them to the match to make it a 3-way tag team dance for the Impact tag titles. Matt Hardy was furious about the decision.

– Brown and Striker ran down the card for No Surrender. Including the 5 newly matches signed throughout this show.

– It was now time for the contract singing for the Dreamer vs Swann title match at No Surrender. Scott D’Amore officiated the process. Swann thanked quietly. Dreamer thanked Swann before signing because he was given the opportunity, even if he is the last man to deserve it in the locker room, he said he truly appreciated this because title matches didn’t come often in his career. He put over Swann, but told him that he has a bad leg and he will go after it and will not hold back.

Before Dreamer could sign, Moose interrupted the contract signing, looking like a total badass. Moose said that the fact that the match was taking place had pissed him off because he had been promised a title shot. D’Amore threatened to suspend Moose if he interfered, but Moose explained that he doesn’t care who wins, he’ll beat whoever wins.

Finally, Dreamer got tired of being ignored and cut saying that he’ll keep fighting for the industry and the locker room and being the champion will give him more power to do so, and that was the motivation to win the title. He signed the contract and shaked Swann’s hand. Moose just kinda walked away, but eyed Swann with a malicious smile on him.

AEW’s Private Party & Matt Hardy appear on Impact Wrestling

Matt Hardy and Private Party appeared on tonight’s Impact Wrestling, facing off against Chris Sabin and a returning James Storm.

Impact Tag Team champions The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) came out on tonight’s show to talk about their win at Hard to Kill. Sabin came out and said that his team wanted a rematch, as they never lost the titles. The Good Brothers mentioned that Alex Shelley was still out. Sabin then brought out Storm, who cut a promo putting over him and Sabin as a team.

This brought out Hardy and Private Party. Hardy said that his team came to Impact for a warm-up match, and wanted to face the Impact Tag Team champions. The Good Brothers suggested a match between Private Party and Sabin & Storm, with the winners becoming the number one contenders for the titles.

The two teams had their match in the main event. The finish had Sabin going to the top rope but Jerry Lynn, who was at ringside with AEW President Tony Khan, came to ringside and grabbed Sabin’s feet. This allowed Private Party to win the match with their Gin & Juice finisher. The show ended with Sabin & Storm, Private Party, and The Good Brothers brawling inside the ring.

Private Party will team with Matt Hardy tomorrow on Dynamite to face the team of Matt Sydal and Top Flight.

New NWA Tag Team Champions crowned on UWN Primetime Live

New NWA Tag Team Champions were crowned on this week’s edition of UWN Primetime Live.

Aron Stevens & JR Kratos defeated James Storm & Eli Drake on Primetime Live last night to win the NWA Tag Team titles. The match was originally announced as Storm & Drake vs. Stevens & The Question Mark, but Stevens came out for the match alone. Kratos attacked Storm & Drake, then Stevens said no one could prove Kratos isn’t The Question Mark.

Stevens & Kratos got the win after Kratos low blowed Storm.

Prior to losing the titles last night, Storm & Drake had been NWA Tag Team Champions since defeating The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) and The Wild Cards (Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs) in a triple threat match at the NWA’s Hard Times pay-per-view this January.

This is the fourth NWA title change to take place on Primetime Live since the weekly PPV series debuted this September. Trevor Murdoch defeated Stevens for the NWA National Championship in September. Last month, The Pope (Elijah Burke) defeated Zicky Dice for the NWA Television title and Serena Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa for the NWA Women’s Championship.

Three former Impact stars appear at Bound for Glory

Three former Impact stars made an appearance at Bound for Glory.

All three made an appearance during the 20 person Call Your Shot gauntlet match. The first to return was Daivari, who previously worked for the company under the name Sheik Abdul Bashir.

He was eliminated by the next return, Swoggle, who teamed up with Brian Myers to dump Daivari to the floor. Swoggle was then betrayed by Myers and eliminated soon after. However, before he left, he helped Tommy Dreamer (who wore Road Warrior Animal face paint as a tribute) deliver a Doomsday Device to Myers.

The big surprise of the night was James Storm, who entered at #15. He made it to the final four, but was eliminated by Sami Callihan, who eliminated both Storm and Heath from the match. With Heath’s elimination, he still remains without an Impact contract.

Callihan and Rhyno were the final two entrants in the gauntlet match, setting up a singles match. Rhyno pinned Callihan with a Gore, meaning he will soon get a championship match of his choosing.

James Storm says pandemic derailed post-WrestleMania WWE debut

In a new interview, James Storm said he was supposed to debut for WWE following WrestleMania, but plans were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Storm told Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin that he was first approached by the company in January during Royal Rumble weekend. While Storm was a part of the NWA at the time, Dave Lagana and Billy Corgan allowed Storm to be let out of his NWA contract early, not exercising a rollover clause in his deal.

“I told them I would work the weekend of WrestleMania shows with Eli [Drake] to drop the NWA belts to whoever they wanted to drop it to,” Storm told Satin. “Just go out on good terms. Good business, ya know? Then that show got cancelled for the NWA, and then it kept snowballing.”

During the months following WrestleMania, Storm prepared for WWE’s pre-signing physical and bought new gear. He also told Satin that the deal had been done, and he had signed. But eventually, he was told that things were being put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Storm competed on NXT briefly in 2015, wrestling two matches. However, he opted to sign with Impact Wrestling. He continued to wrestle for Impact until leaving in 2018.

New champions crowned at NWA Hard Times

New champions were crowned tonight at NWA Hard Times.

Ricky Starks defeated Trevor Murdoch in the main event of tonight’s show to become the new NWA World Television champion. Starks defeated Murdoch with the stroke. Starks won a one-night tournament to win the championship, also defeating Tim Storm and Matt Cross.

It was announced on December 14 that the NWA would be reintroducing the Television title, with the first champion being crowned at Hard Times. The design is similar to the NWA World Television title used in Jim Crockett Promotions during the 1980s.

The Women’s championship also changed hands. Thunder Rosa defeated Allysin Kay after countering Kay’s escape from an armbar with a Thunder Driver. This ends Kay’s run as champion after 273 days, defeating Santana Garrett back on April 29.

New NWA Tag Team champions were also crowned on the show, with James Storm and Eli Drake defeating The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to win the titles. This ends Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson’s fifth run with the titles after 115 days, originally winning them back on October 1.

NWA Into the Fire live results: Nick Aldis vs. James Storm

The NWA’s first pay-per-view since the debut of NWA Power takes place tonight as GPB Studios in Atlanta hosts Into the Fire.

The PPV will be headlined by NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis defending his title against James Storm in a two-out-of-three falls match. In storyline, Storm has chosen Brian Hebner as the referee for one of the falls and Aldis has chosen former NWA Champion Tim Storm for another. After speculation about what she whispered in James Storm’s ear on an NWA Power episode, Aldis has also said that his manager Kamille has the night off tonight.

Two other title matches are set for the show. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express will defend their Tag Team titles against Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs, while Colt Cabana will defend his National Championship against Aron Stevens and Ricky Starks in a triple threat match.

NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay & Ashley Vox vs. Melina & Marti Belle, Eli Drake vs. Ken Anderson, Thunder Rosa vs. Tasha Steelz, and Trevor Murdoch vs. The Question Mark round out the card for Into the Fire. The PPV is available via Fite TV and will begin at 6:05 p.m. Eastern time.

NWA Into the Fire opene with a voice over from Nick Aldis as highlights are shown from NWA Power leading into the PPV. Stu Bennett and Joe Galli ran down the card, and then the music hit for Eli Drake, who walked through the crowd down to the ring. Ken Anderson then made his entrance, high fiving the fans, ready for this grudge match with Drake.

Eli Drake defeated Ken Anderson

Anderson faked out a fan with giving out his t-shirt, which was weird, given that he’s the babyface based on how this is booked. Both men excahnged some basics in the ring, with Anderson getting the best of a hammerlock exchange, keeping Drake grounded. Anderson hit a clothesline and a slame, and sent Drake into the opposite corner before hitting another clothesline. Anderson facewashed Drake, and drake rolled to the floor. Anderson followed Drake back into the ring and hit an elbow. Anderson hit the ropes but Drake countered with a stun gun and then a neckbreaker for a 2 count.

Drake hit a running powerslam and an elboow for a 2 count, before knocking Anderson into the middle rope with a drop toe hold. Drake hit a kick and then a slingshot shoulder block. Drake countered a roll through and hit a swinging neckbreaker on Anderson in a nice spot. Anderson kicked out at 2 and Drake locked on a chinlock. Anderson fought out and both men exchanged strikes until Anderson hit the steamroller and scored a 2 count. Anderson reversed the Gravy Train into a schoolboy for a 2 count.

Anderson went to the top rope, but Drake jumped from the ring to the top rope and went for a suplex, but Anderson fought it off and went for a sunset flip powerbomb on Anderson. Drake countered into a pinfall and just managed to score the 3 count.

Very solid opening match here. Both guys worked a basic match, but it worked for the audience, and neither did anything they couldn’t do, which is always a win. This was quite good.

Nick Aldis came out and cut a promo about how that the NWA used to be a name for the past, but there was one voice that called the NWA his mountain top, speaking about Tim Storm. Aldis then said that voice became two, with him, and now it is thousands with over 40 countries watching from around the world. He then spoke about James Storm and how he was going to retain his title. Aldis then said he gave Kamille the night off.

James Storm came out to a series of boos. Storm said that at the end of tonight, Aldis would know that he was in the ring with one of the toughest SOBs ever. He promised that he was going to wint the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship tonight, and left with Aldis staring at him and walking backstage. This was excellent. As always, the NWA seems to have the best promos going today.

A video aired for Melina’s debut in the NWA.

Tasha Steelz came out and asked for David Marquez and talked about how she was adding flavour to the NWA. She said that the show was named Into the Fire appropriately because she would be bringing the latina heat. This was very, very good. Thunder Rosa then came out to a huge reaction. The way her career has changed since Lucha Underground is absolutely incredible.

Thunder Rosa defeated Tasha Steelz

Thunder Rosa got a go behind on Tasha, pulled her hair, then chopped her several times. Tasha hit one of her own and then went for a lucha armdrag, but Thunder Rosa countered and hit a clothesline. Thunder Rosa put Steelz into a tree of woe and hit a dropkick to the body for a 2 count. Despite being a heel, Thunder Rosa got a massive babyface reaction, except for when she was cheating in the match. Steelz hit a few chops, but Thunder Rosa counterd with a drop toe hold into a Gory Special.

Steelz dodged a double stomp and hit a pump kick. Tasha hit a series of strikes in the corner and hit a cutter for a 2 count. Steelz went for another cutter, but Thunder Rosa countered and hit a running knee before hitting her double stomp for a the 3 count.

This was a perfectly acceptable match. Thunder Rosa was fantastic here, but Tasha is green. Tasha has a ton of charisma and I’m quite sure she will be a star in the future. There is money in Thunder Rosa, and I hope they are able to push her sooner rather than later.

Thunder Rosa continued her attack after the bell, getting into mounted position and beating on Tasha. Ashley Vox ran down to make the save, but Thunder Rosa hit her with a shoulder breaker and then appeared to dislocate Vox’s elbow. What does this mean for Cox’s tag match later in the evening?

The Question Mark came out with Aron Stevens and performed the Mongrovian Flag Ceremony, and sung the Mongrovian national anthem. This has to be seen to be believed, and I loved it. Trevor Murdoch interrupted the anthem. We were also informed that Stevens became a 3rd degree blackbelt in Mongrovian Karate, which I thought was hilarious.

?The Question Mark? defeated Trevor Murdoch

Question Mark started the match, hitting a chop to Murdoch’s stomach. Murdoch didn’t take kindly to this, hitting a big boot and a big slam. Murdoch called for one more, and Question Mark crashed to the mat a second time. The fans chanted “one more time” so he did, and Question Mark went to the apron.

Murdoch tried to remove Question Mark’s mask, but he fought out and hit a drop toe hold on Question Mark before hitting a series of hard strikes to the back of Question Mark’s head. Question Mark ducked under a shot and hit a Karate chop to Murdoch’s throat. Quesiton mark got a 2 count. Question then hit the ropes and hit two stomps to Murdoch’s face.

Mark hit a dropkick from the middle rope, but Trevor Murdoch got his foot on the ropes. After a few moves, Murdoch went to the top rope and tried to grab the Mongrovian flag. This infuriated Question Mark, who hit a double Mongrovian Spike to the throat of Murdoch for the pinfall victory.

This was fun. Question Mark is ridiculously over, and I love it.

A hype video aired for the Rock n’ Roll Express, and they then came down to the ring to a massive reaction. Ricky Morton cut an amazing promo in the hype video about how they were the 9-time champions now.

The Rock n’ Roll Express w/ Eddie Kingston and Homicide defeated The Wild Cards w/ The Dawsons to retain the NWA World Tag Team Championship

Ricky Morton started the match with Latimer and both men locked up. Morton used a little agility, as he is the smaller man, and sent Latimer into the corner. Latimer shoved Morton into the corner, but Morton slipped out. Morton drew Isaacs to the RnR corner, and Robert tagged in and they hit a double elbow on Issacs.

Gibson tricked Isaacs into running into Latimer, and then Ricky Morton hit a suicide dive on both men!  Isaacs and Latimer started to get the heat on Morton soon thereafter, but it didn’t last long as Morton dodged a splash in the corner from Isaacs and rolled into the tag to Gibson. Gibson ran wild and then locked a sleeper on Latimer.

Isaacs cut him off, but the RnR made the Wild Cards look like fools as they crashed into each other. Morton then hit the Canadian Destroyer on Latimer! The Dawsons started brawling with Homicde and Kingston, which distracted Isaacs. The Rock n’ Roll express hit the double dropkick on Isaacs for the pinfall!

Stu Bennet and Joe Galli announced the next NWA PPV for January, and announced that the NWA was bringing back the NWA Worlds Television Championship

Eli Drake came out and insulted David Marquez and then cut a promo against Aldis. Drake said that he was in James Storm’s camp, but that it really didn’t matter who came out on top, as he wanted the next title shot. Drake talked about how the NWA is the hottest thing going today, and how he was the hottest thing in it.

Drake said that he was the man that shines in the NWA, and he doesn’t care who the champion is. He called Ken Anderson a speedbump, and as he did that, Ken Anderson came out and attacked Drake. Anderson grabbed a chair and wrapped it around Drake’s head before sending him crashing into the ring post. The referees came out and pulled Anderson away.

Anderson fought away from security and then hit the Mic Check face first into the standing steel chair. The referees rushed the ring to check on Drake, and it the crowd booed Anderson. Was this a heel turn? It’s a little hard to keep track of who the heels and babyfaces are in this feud. Drake did win clean, and Anderson is showing that he is a sore loser, so it could have been a double turn. I suppose we will find out more later.

This was a very good angle.

Allysin Kay came out without a partner for her match with Melina and Marti Belle, and after they made their entrance, Kay’s replacement partner was announced: ODB!

Melina & Marti Belle defeated Allysin Kay and ODB

Kay started the match with Marti Belle, and Kay took this chance to beat the crap out of Belle for turning on her a few weeks back. Kay hit a huge chop and then 10 punches in the corner to the roar of the crowd. Kay got disctarted by Melina, and Belle rolled her up for a 2 count. Kay hit a neckbreaker on Belle for a 2 count. Kay then pulled Melina into the ring and went for the Dude Buster, but Melina rolled through into a sunset flip and then Marti Belle hit Kay wit ha running knee.

Marti Belle then tagged out to Melina who came in and started working over Kay. Despite her babyface style promos on Power, Melina was clearly working like a heel here. Melina went for a DDT, and botched it, falling way before Kay did. Belle hit a Russian legsweep on Kay for a 2 count. It’s probably best that Belle do the wrestling in this tag team, as Melina isn’t very good at all, and she hasn’t wrestled for a long time. Melina went for a kick, but Kay dodged and tagged out to ODB, who ran all over the ring hitting power moves on Belle.

Kay went for the Dude Buster on Melina, but she fought out. Marti hit the pedigree on Kay, but ODB then hit the BAM on Belle for the pinfall.

This match was perfectly fine with Marti Belle and Kay in there. Melina did not look good at all. The best usage of Melina might be having her cut promos and let Belle and Thunder Rosa do the wrestling. ODB was fine. Nothing spectacular. I still think the money for them is in Kay vs. Thudner Rosa long term, and I do believe they will go towards that.

Aron Stevens (w/ ?The Question Mark?) defeated Colt Cabana & Ricky Starks for the NWA National Championship

Ricky Starks went right after Stevens and Cabana and Starks hit double bionic elbows on Stevens. Cabana went for a pinfall but Starks broke it up. As he argued with Cabana, Cabana blocked a kick from Stevens and threw his foot into Starks and kicked Stevens’ leg. Starks hit a dropkick on Stevens, which sent him to the floor. Stevens then went and hid behind the Christmas tree by the announce desk. Cabana and Starks then exchanged holds for the next few minutes, trying to best one another.

Cabana hit a shoulder block, but after a few go overs, Starks hit a shoulder block of his own and then a crossbody off the middle ropes. Cabana rolled through for a 2 count. Stevens ran back into the ring, did several Mongrovian Karate poses, and was dropped by Starks and Cabana who proceeded to chop the crap out of him in the corner. Cabana then threw Starks to the floor. Stevens was sent to the apron, but Cabana dodged an attack by Starks.

The Question Mark went onto the apron and distracted Cabana so that Stevens could hit a low blow on Cabana. Stevens then hit a rolling elbow and got a 2 count on Starks. Stevens hit a wacky elbow and then kneed Starks in the face and hit a headbutt on Cabana. Stevens was attacking Starks in the corner, and Question Mark laid Cabana out on the floor. Stevens told the crowd to shut up as he hit a suplex on Starks for a two count.

Stevens knocked Cabana off the apron and then continued his assault on Stevens. Stevens hit a lariat on Starks and got a 2 count. Stevens tried to knock Cabana off the apron again, but Cabana fought out and got back into the ring, only to have Stevens manage to throw him out again. Starks hot back to his feet and hit a sling blade on Stevens. Cabana and Starks hit a series of atomic drops, killing Stevens’ crotch, and then both men did the wishbone split. Starks hit a dropkick on Cabana and fell into a senton on Stevens for a 2 count.

Starks hit an elbow on Cabana and went for a tornado DDT, but Cabana pushed him off before it hit. Starks managed to lock on an abdominal stretch, but Cabana fought out and locked on the Billy Goat’s Curse on Starks. Starks crawled to the ropes and bit the ropes to break it. Aron Stevens hid himself under the sheet beneath the Christmas tree. Starks and Cabana exchanged several pinfall attempts, but after the Superman Pin attempt by Cabana, The Question Mark hit Cabana with the Mongrovian Spike. Question Mark held Starks outside the ring, and Stevens ran into the ring and pinned Colt Cabana!

This was actually a very fun match. The finish was something they built to from the very start of the match, and it was a classic heel win, as I don’t think Stevens hit one offensive move in the match.

**********

Tim Storm came out and cut a promo about the main event, as Aldis picked him to be the referee. Storm talked about how much it meant for him to be a part of the PPV. He promised that he was going to do his best to call it down the middle, and that both men were going to battle for the NWA Worlds Championship, which is his heart and soul. The title means so much to him that he was going to do his best to represent the NWA. Excellent promo from Storm here.

A hype video aired for Aldis and James Storm, with James Storm saying that when what Kamille said to him comes out, it’s going to change everything. Aldis said that this is why he gave her the night off. The crowd went nuts when we came back live, and they are ready for the NWA Worlds Championship match. James Storm got a huge amount of boos coming out, while Nick Aldis got an incredible reaction as he came down to the ring. There is no question that the fans think he is the man in wrestling, and Aldis does a great job carrying himself as such.

Nick Aldis vs. James Storm for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match

Brian Hebner was the referee for the first fall. Storm and Aldis locked up and chain wrestled with both men displaying good technique in the early portions of the match. James Storm talked about having a surprise for Aldis, and Kamille walked out. Aldis tried to send her to the back, but as he turned around, James Storm hit a superkick and pinned Aldis right away! Kamille walked away and disappeared after the pinfall. What does this mean for her relationship with Aldis?

Second Fall: Referee Tim Storm

Storm continued the attack on the outside, sending Nick Aldis into the stairs at ringside. Storm took Aldis into the crowd and up the stairs, dropping Aldis about halfway up. James Storm hit Aldis with a drink and Aldis staggered down the stairs until Storm grabbed him and smashed his head into the interview podium. James Storm then suplexed Aldis on the floor and did a Fargo Strut as the crowd said “Wooooo!” Nick Aldis managed to roll into the ring at the count of nine, but Storm threw him to the floor again.

James Storm tried to Irish whip Aldis into the Christmas Tree, but Aldis countered and sent storm crashing into the Mongrovian tree (according to Bennett, this is where they got it). The fans chanted “Merry Christmas” as James Storm managed to recover and hit a baseball slide dropkick on Aldis. Aldis still hadn’t fully recovered from the suplex on the floor, so Storm was able to go right back into an advantage after being thrown into the tree.

Storm continued to beat on Aldis in the middle of the ring before going to the middle rope. Storm went for an axe handle, but Aldis caught him and hit a belly-to-belly suplex. Both men got to their feet and Aldis hit two clotheslines, but Storm countered and hit Eye of the Storm for a 2 count. James Storm rolled to the floor and grabbed a steel chair. Tim Storm told him that he would DQ James Storm if he used it. James Storm gave the chair to Tim Storm, who removed it from the ring.

Nick Aldis countered an attack from James Storm and after a few pinfall counters, Nick Aldis was able to score the flash pinfall! A coin was flipped and Brian Hebner won the toss.

Third Fall: Brian Hebner

Both men stated brawling, but Aldis managed to hit a Michinoku Driver for a 2 count. Storm hit a jawbreaker and Aldis was able to counter the Back Stabber twice, but Storm was finally able to hit it on the third try, but Aldis kicked out. Storm ended up on the apron, dodging an Aldis charge, and hit an enziguri before going to the top rope. Aldis cut him off and then hit a superplex off the middle rope for the 2 count.

Aldis put Storm on the top rope and went for another superplex, but Storm fought out with a series of heabutts and then hit a huge flying elbow on Aldis for a 2 count. Both men ended up on their feet, but as James Storm went for a superkick, Aldis was able to catch it and went for the Figure Four. Storm rolled Aldis up to counter, but only got a 2. Storm recovered and locked on a Figure Four Leglock of his own. After a struggle, Aldis was able to reverse the preassure but James Storm made the ropes.

James Storm went for a float over in the corner, but Aldis caught him and hit a tombstone in the middle of the ring before going onto the top rope. Aldis bit a flying elbow dropw for a 2. No count, as Granny would say. Aldis hit a big chop on Storm and sent him to the ropes. Storm ducked a clothesline, but Aldis managed to clothesline the crap out of Brian Hebner by accident. Hebner took a flip bump, which was awesome. Tim Storm came down to the ring to check on Hebner as Aldis hit a DDT on James Storm.

James Storm countered an Aldis sunset flip for a 2 count. Storm hit a superkick and Aldis fell back into the corner. As Storm rolled Aldis up, Aldis pulled the turnbuckle pad off and kicked out at 2. As Aldis kicked out, James Storm flew headfirst into the exposed turnbuckle! Nick Aldis then picked up the legs of James Storm and locked on the Texas Cloverleaf! Tim Storm reluctantly called for the bell, as the crowd booed Aldis. Was Tim Storm in on this with Aldis, or is Tim Storm going to go after the title again after seeing this injustice?

A series of officials ran out to check on James Storm as Tim Storm raised Nick Aldis’ hand. This was an excellent match, and the finish was just the right combo of clever while putting heat on Aldis. Stu Bennet was pointing out that Nick Aldis should have been DQ’d for striking the referee, and had questions about the turnbuckle pad being so easily removed. Aldis went back to David Marquez to cut a promo after the match.

Nick Aldis said that the ring belonged to him and the fans. He said that men like him and James Storm find purpose in that rin, and that the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship is how he tells the world who he is. Aldis then said “There is not a man alive that can take this from me!” The lights went out, and Marty Scurll’s music hit! Marty Scurll is in the NWA! The crowd went insane for Marty as he walked down to the ring and faced off with Nick Aldis as the show went off the air.

Well, I can’t say I was expecting that. The crowd went absolutely insane for Scurll, and it appears he’s in the NWA, at least for now. What an excellent PPV from the NWA. I am definitely intrigued about where this is going.

Nick Aldis vs. James Storm to headline NWA Into the Fire PPV

James Storm is getting a World title shot in the main event of the NWA’s Into the Fire pay-per-view.

On tonight’s episode of NWA Power, it was announced that NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis will defend his title against former National Champion James Storm in the main event of Into the Fire. The PPV is taking place at GPB Studios in Atlanta on Saturday, December 14 and will be available via Fite TV.

Aldis’ current NWA title reign began by winning a two-out-of-three falls match. He defeated Cody Rhodes at the NWA’s 70th Anniversary Show in October 2018 to become a two-time champion.

This is the NWA’s first PPV since April’s Crockett Cup event. Three other matches have also been confirmed for the show. Eli Drake will take on Mr. Anderson, Allysin Kay will team with Ashley Vox against two members of Melina’s stable (Melina, Thunder Rosa & Marti Belle), and The Question Mark will face Trevor Murdoch.
