– It’s Saturday night and it’s time to Collide as we’re welcomed live to the show by Tony Schiavone, “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard and Nigel McGuinness. The commentary trio then ran down tonight’s matches before we got a recap of this past Wednesday’s two Blood and Guts matches.

Trios Match: The Death Riders (Daniel Garcia, PAC, Wheeler Yuta) vs. Jay Lethal, Adam Priest, and Tommy Billington

Prior to the match, Daniel Garcia got in Matt Menard’s face, which led to the two fighting it out at the commentary desk. PAC and Yuta had to pull Garcia off of Menard just to keep him focused on this upcoming trios match. Jon Moxley appeared and took over for Menard on commentary.

Once the match got underway, Billington, Priest, and Lethal got the upper hand on an unprepared Garcia, which forced him to tag PAC into the match. Lethal dropkicked PAC and went for a pin early on, to no success. As Yuta entered the match, he fell victim to a double team attack from Billington and Lethal. This was then followed by Priest and Lethal nailing a double back suplex on legal man Garcia.

On commentary, Moxley tried to brush off his team’s loss in Blood and Guts as he talked about wanting to bring some “positive energy” in the world, in his words.

Garcia was unable to get any sort of advantage as Billington had him trapped in a criss-cross rope run. An attempt at a dive to the outside from Billington to Yuta wasn’t able to connect fully as we went to a picture in picture break.

We continued from the break with PAC working over Billington to help give the Death Riders the momentum over their opponents. In the Death Riders corner, Billington was being picked apart by PAC, as Yuta entered the match and took a bite out of his foe. The Death Riders’ trio shelled Billington with repeated running attacks to him while he was stunned in the corner. PAC finished it off with a Tombstone Piledriver as he went for the cover. However, the other team broke up the pin.

On the top rope, Billington broke free of Yuta’s grip and then knocked him down with a shotgun dropkick. This tried to create some separation for Billington, but Garcia took out Lethal and Priest in the corner. Billington attempted a running crossbody that took himself out ouf the ring. Soon after, the hot tag was made to Lethal, who was on fire against the Death Riders. He locked PAC in the Figure Four, but Garcia broke that up. Things escalated as PAC forced Priest in the line of fire of Lethal’s patented Lethal Injection. This led to PAC picking up the submission win as Lethal submitted to the Brutalizer.

After the match, PAC took the microphone as he addressed how Darby Allin was not in the building tonight because of what he did to him at Blood and Guts a few days back. PAC said that setting Allin on fire was his “magnum opus”, but he knew that Allin would want some sort of petty revenge. That was no problem for PAC, as he laid down the challenge for next Saturday at AEW Full Gear for Allin to face him. He said that Allin was not in the conversation or the same league as a competitor like him. PAC concluded that he would be waiting for Allin’s answer.

The Death Riders def. Tommy Billington, Jay Lethal, and Adam Priest via submission

A solid trios match to kick off the night on Collision, and the Garcia/Menard confrontation was a hot way to start things. Jon Moxley on commentary was entertaining as well, and while there wasn’t much in the way of an direct aftermath of Blood and Guts just yet, Moxley trying to play off his team’s loss by preaching about positivity was hilarious.

– Lexy Nair was backstage with Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher ahead of their respective matches tonight. Fletcher said that he was tired of hearing about Mark Briscoe and that at Full Gear, he’d put him in his place for good. Davis interjected by talking how Briscoe would be nothing more but “dinner” for him later tonight. Fletcher then addressed his TNT Championship challenger Scorpio Sky, declaring that he’d end up saying Fletcher’s full name once all was said and done.

– We returned from the break with Nair interviewing “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa, who was not cleared for action tonight. Storm talked about how while they could come after her, if you went after the love her life (Shirakawa), it was time for a cinema verite, starring “five shitass sloptarts”, and that anytime, any place, the show must go on. Storm then concluded her promo with an incredble closer: “Don’t ask God for mercy, he’s a big fan of our work.”

Mark Briscoe vs. Mark Davis

Things got off to a hot start as Briscoe and Davis brawled at the ramp before the bell could even ring. As the bell finally rang, Briscoe flattened Davis with a Blockbuster from the apron to the outside. Davis regained the advantage with a clothesline, as he then threw Briscoe onto the hardest part of the ring. Davis then chucked Briscoe against a chair sat next to the barricade.

Once both men got into the ring, Davis chopped at Briscoe in the corner, but he couldn’t maintain the momentum. On the top rope, Briscoe was punched repeatedly by Davis, who then dropped him with a huge superplex for a near-fall. The action went to picture-in-picture with Davis in control of this Battle of the Marks.

Collision returned from the break as Davis dropped Briscoe with a hard lariat. He followed that up with repeated chops to the chest of Briscoe, who absorbed the last few strikes and got himself hyped up. Briscoe then answered back with some chops of his own, followed by a running forearm that knocked Davis down on the mat. As both men got back to their feet, Briscoe and Davis traded back and forth chops and back and forth charging attacks to one another.

Davis went for a suplex, but got rolled up by Briscoe for the near-fall. After a pump kick to the face of Davis, Briscoe lifted him up for a suplex of his own. Briscoe then headed up top for the Froggy Bow, but Davis got his feet up to block the attack. With Briscoe dazed, Davis hit a fierce running lariat for the close near-fall. Briscoe rolled to the and took a seat on a chair, but Davis ran into him with a running uppercut.

The Aussie threw a pair of chairs into the ring, but whatever he was planning did not come to fruition as Briscoe set up a chair in a seated position. Briscoe then leapt from the chair to the outside with a dive over the ropes on Davis. In the corner, Davis’ attempt at an attack was countered by Briscoe, who kept him down long enough for the Froggy Bow and the victory to prove himself the superior Mark of AEW.

Mark Briscoe def. Mark Davis via pinfall

I had fun watching this match. I enjoy seeing Briscoe in action and his fellow Mark in one-half of Aussie Open was a great opponent for him to have in this contest.

– Christopher Daniels was backstage with Scorpio Sky, as he tried to hype his former SCU partner up for his TNT Title match against Kyle Fletcher for later tonight.

– As we returned from break, we went backstage to see Josh Alexander attacking Michael Nakazawa. He said that he was the Don Callis Family’s instrument of destruction and it appeared he was challenging Kenny Omega for Dynamite in Boston. Alexander then took out Nakazawa in brutal fashion.

Taya Valkyrie (w/ MxMTV) vs. Tay Melo

Before the match, MxMTV’s Mansoor took the mic and told the crowd to shut up as this was MxMTV’s Open Casting Call and it was about to start.

As the bell rang, Melo caught Valkyrie by surprise with a jumping kick that left her stunned in the corner. Valykyrie got the advantage on the opposite corner as she hit a nice sliding German suplex on Melo, which had MxMTV’s men in awe. Outside the ring, Melo fought back and threw Valkyrie into the steel steps. As MxMTV checked up on the fallen Valkyrie, Melo leapt from the top rope and took out Mansoor and Johnny TV with a dive. In the end, Melo won by finishing off Valkyrie in short order.

After the match, Marina Shafir snuck up on Melo with a kick to the face, followed by locking in Mother’s Milk on her. “Timeless” Toni Storm then made the save as she ran through MxMTV outside the ring. Storm then took out Shafir with Storm Zero.

Tay Melo def. Taya Valkyrie

A short, but sweet match and it was nice to see Toni Storm get her hands dirty, so to speak, as she went after Marina Shafir in the post-match action.

– “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Powerhouse Hobbs from Dynamite was recapped, as well as the AEW Men’s World Championship Cage Match for Full Gear being made.

TNT Championship: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Scorpio Sky (w/ Christopher Daniels & Top Flight)

Sky offered a handshake as the bell rang, but Fletcher refused with a kick to his hands. The two then locked up as they engaged in a battle of strength. Sky tried to go after Fletcher’s arm, but found his own arm being the target of Fletcher’s attack instead. Sky and Fletcher once again tested their strength as TNT Champion found himself backed into the corner. Fletcher then retreated to ringside while Sky mocked his foe by putting on Fletcher’s entrance jacket in the ring.

Things picked up as Sky feigned a leg injury and tried to roll up Fletcher for the pin. Fletcher responded by punching away at Sky, but he was hit with a flying clothesline from the challenger. Outside the ring, Sky battered Fletcher with a punch against the barricade. Fletcher responded by throwing Sky onto the apron before he decked Christopher Daniels with a hard punch. An enraged Sky fought back and sent Fletcher right into the steel steps as the match headed to picture-in-picture.

Collision returned to live action with Fletcher working over Sky with a set of kicks to the chest. Sky beckoned his foe to hit him some more, which fired him up enough to a point where he had Fletcher in the ropes with the punches in the corner. Sky bit at Fletcher’s forehead as he then clotheslined him out of the ring. At ringisde, Fletcher attempted a powerbomb, but Sky countered by getting himself on the apron as he then floored the TNT Champion with a hurricanrana.

As Fletcher recovered on the outside, he was sent down to the ground by a dive over the ropes by Sky. Back in the ring, Sky got a near fall with the pop-up sitdown powerbomb on Fletcher. Sky lifted Fletcher on his shoulders, but the wily Australian escaped and countered into a snap German suplex. He then tried for his signature brainbuster, but Sky bit at Fletcher’s hand to get out of it.

On the apron, Fletcher kicked Sky in the face and attempted the brainbuster. Sky escaped in the nick of time and connected with a rough-looking leaping cutter onto the apron. Sky had Fletcher on the ropes, as he nailed the DDT from the middle rope. One, two… Fletcher managed to kick out in time. Both men struggled to get themselves to their feet as neither man could get the upper hand. Sky rolled under Fletcher’s attack and had the Lance Storm-style single leg crab locked in. Fletcher got his hand on the ropes to escape, however.

Fletcher recovered and hit the running kick in the corner, followed by his finishing sheer drop brainbuster on Sky for the three and the TNT Championship victory.

After the match, Fletcher’s Aussie Open partner Mark Davis attacked Sky for a bit before Mark Briscoe and Top Flight chased them off. Briscoe took the mic and talked about how not even an ambush before Blood and Guts or Mark Davis could slow him down. He said that the next time Don Callis shined up Fletcher’s shiny bald head, he should shine up that TNT Championship because that championship was coming for him.

Fletcher responded by saying he wasn’t responsible for Briscoe getting attacked, and that he was one defense away from breaking the record for most TNT Championship defenses. He said that one week from tonight at Full Gear, he’d break that record and Briscoe would be left with no choice but to join the Don Callis Family, which meant Briscoe would have no choice but to say Fletcher’s full name.

Kyle Fletcher def. Scorpio Sky via pinfall to retain the TNT Championship

A solid “veteran versus young gun” match with Sky using his veteran wits to try and pry the TNT Title away, but Fletcher just being a bit better in the end. The upcoming Fletcher vs. Briscoe match at Full Gear should be a great one and the added stakes of Briscoe being forced to join the Don Callis Family should he lose does add a lot of drama to it.

– A promo package hyping a $200k Tailgate Brawl for next week’s pre-Full Gear show featuring The Acclaimed vs. the Bang Bang Gang vs. Big Bill & Bryan Keith vs. The Outrunners was shown, with the teams mentioining what they’d do for the match.

– A Renee Paquette-narrated video talking about Mercedes Mone vs. Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Full Gear was shown.

Riho & Alex Windsor vs. Maya World & Hyan

Riho and Hyan got the match going with a chain wrestling battle, as the latter swiftly avoided a pin with a nice dodge. After a rollup pin, Hyan hit Riho with a nice boot to the face as Maya World tagged herself in. Windsor made the tag for herself as she and Riho showed an inspired and elevated effort as a team. On the apron, Windsor leapt at Maya and Hyan to take them out, as Riho followed up with a dive from the top rope as the action went to picture-in-picture.

This tag match continued from picture-in-picture with Riho battling her way out of Maya’s submission hold successfully. Windsor entered the match a house o’fire as she used her speed to take down Maya with a shoulder charge. Windsor connected with a swinging powerbomb as Hyan broke up the pin. Riho and Windsor once again showed their team acumen by taking out Hyan with a pair of kicks. Maya ran at Riho, but found herself flattened by a snapdragon suplex. In the end, Riho had Maya in a crucifix position as Windsor struck with a hard lariat. The pin by Riho, and this one’s done.

After the match, Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa addressed Windsor & Riho on the big screen. Storm said that they would have a “bloody good” time as they were lovers on a path of revenge.

Riho & Alex Windsor def. Maya World & Hyan via pinfall

A nice showcase match for Riho and Windsor, and a great effort from Maya World and Hyan as they got to look like they belong in the ring against a team of Riho and Windsor’s status. Just a nice bit of business here and a solid little match.

– Remarks from Wednesday’s Dynamite from Kyle O’Reilly and The Conglomeration were shown after their big victory from Blood & Guts. O’Reilly said that he had a submission victory over Moxley and that if there was another time he wanted to prove him wrong, he was up for it.

After the video package, Moxley was angry as he left commentary and addressed O’Reilly’s comments. The fans chanted “you tapped out” to further add to Moxley’s frustrations. The Death Riders’ leader said that O’Reilly was not like him, and he was not built like him. Moxley said that O’Reilly could not beat him again. If O’Reilly and the Conglomeration wanted another match, Moxley said they knew where to find him and the Death Riders. Moxley then left the ringside area.

– Tay Melo was interviewed about what happened earlier tonight for her. She said that she’d kick Toni Storm’s head off for the AEW Women’s Tag Titles, as she then turned her attention to Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne. Melo stated that what Shafir and Bayne started, TayJay would finish it.

All-Star Eight-Man Tag: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) & La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush & Sammy Guevara) vs. Bandido, JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) & Juice Robinson

Bandido and Harwood got our main event going with a lockup. Harwood had Bandido in the corner as he struck him and hit a snap suplex osoon after. Wheeler tagged in and continued to work away on Bandido with a chop in the corner. However, Bandido escaped and quickened the pace with a dive from the top, followed by a superkick. Bailey tagged in and immediately pummelled Wheeler with his signature kicks. Wheeler broke the momentum with a slam as Guevara tagged in.

Guevara feigned a dive from the top rope as he instead dropped down and hit Bailey with a kick to the head. Knight entered the match, but soon found himself being attacked by Rush and Guevara with a not-so-tranquilo double team assault. Harwood tagged in and attacked Knight, but was dropped with a nice leaping clothesline from one-half of JetSpeed. Robinson got the tag from his team as he singlehandledly made short work of FTR and LFI. In the ring, Harwood and Wheeler were being beaten with consecutive punches from Robinson, as they then fell victim to a double noggin-knocker. Rush stopped Robinson’s fun with an elbow to the face.

Things began to brake down a bit as all eight men got inovlved and the action was fast and furious. On opposite ends of the ring, Bandido and Bailey hit stereo Asai Moonsaults on their foes at ringside to briefly take them out of the equation. Back in the ring, Knight hit Harwood with a huge DDT, as Robinson went for the cover. That wasn’t enough to end this one, as the match went to one final picture-in-picture break.

Collision’s hot main event resumed as FTR pulled Bandido and Knight out from the apron before Bailey could get a tag. In the ring, Guevara levelled Bailey with a facebuster for the near-fall. Bailey struggled to fight free of Wheeler’s piledriver, and eventually hit a knee-first moonsault on Wheeler’s ribcage, as Bandido got the hot tag.

Bandido was a force as he held his own against all four men before he hit leaping frog splash on Rush for the close two. Rush responded as he pulled Bandido from the apron for a superplex for the near-fall. FTR and LFI had Bandido surrounded, as one half of the AEW Tag Champions stood his ground against the odds. The odds were evened by Bandido’s partners as we got a staredown between Bandido and Rush inside the ring.

Rush threw Bandido overhead with a belly-to-belly throw as he had him in sight for The Horns, but Bandido escaped that fate. Rush did manage to take Bandido out with a hard headbutt as he also went down in the process. On the apron, Guevara leapt at Robinson for the moonsault. Things intensified as Knight took out Guevara with a leaping bunch, as Wheeler dropped him face-first onto the apron with a Gory Special. Afterwards, Bailey attempted another Ultima Weapon moonsault, but Harwood moved out of the way at the last second, as Bailey ended up hitting the apron instead.

Rush rolled up Bandido, but he was sent onto FTR on the Apron, this left him at the mercy of Bandido’s 21-Plex for the three and the victory in our Collision main event.

Collision wrapped with commentary running down the matches for the three-hour Dynamite/Collision special on Wednesday and the babyface team celebrating their victory.

Bandido, Juice Robinson, & JetSpeed def. FTR & La Faccion Ingobernable via pinfall

**********

A very fun main event to end a solid episode of Collision. These All-Star tag matches always manage to live up to their name and this one was no exception. Just a treat to watch from start to finish.

This was a great episode that gave us some really nice TV matches and a bit of story development with regards to the situation with the Death Riders post-Blood and Guts. Collision has found a nice groove as a show where the best wrestle, to coin a particular phrase and offering storyline development when needed. Just a nice and breezy way on Saturday nights to enjoy some wrestling, just like old times.

New title match with stipulations set for AEW Full Gear

The sixth meeting between TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe is official for this month’s AEW Full Gear but with two stipulations added.

Revealed on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in a backstage segment, Briscoe offered up a no DQ stipulation in order to get the match which Fletcher seemed to like. However, Don Callis wanted to up the stakes and suggested that if Briscoe loses, he most leave The Conglomeration forever and join the Callis Family. Briscoe eventually agreed.

The two last squared off at October’s WrestleDream with Fletcher picking up a win and successful title defense. After Briscoe won the first two matches in their feud, Fletcher now has three straight victories.

Mark Briscoe ‘starting to feel better all the time’ with AEW singles matches

Mark Briscoe is growing more and more comfortable as a singles performer in AEW.

Since his brother’s tragic passing in January 2023, Mark has adapted to singles competition while incorporating parts of Jay Briscoe into his performances. After being primarily focused on tag team matches for so long, there was a learning curve for Mark in the ring. He is now starting to feel like he has a better understanding of what it takes to achieve singles success.

“Man, I’m really starting to feel like I’m starting to get a better grasp of what it takes to be successful as a singles guy. It’s almost like the pacing — where in a tag match, I go in completely guns blazing at a reckless pace,” Briscoe said on a new episode of AEW Unrestricted. “In a tag match, you tag out and you get your breath and here comes your boy and he does the same thing.

“In a singles match, if you try to do that, you’re going to wear yourself out real quick. And you don’t have the option of tagging out and getting your breath. So I think that was one of the aspects of it. But I’m starting to feel better all the time with my singles performances.”

Briscoe had a reign as ROH World Champion in 2024, becoming champion 11 years to the day after his late brother first won the belt. He is now focused on capturing his first AEW gold.

“I’m looking for gold. I’m looking for singles gold,” he said. “I’ve been smelling gold in them there hills here in AEW since I got here. Hey, six-man tag titles sounds real good too. Now that we’re conglomerating hard again, now that [Orange Cassidy] is back, I would love to get a shot at the Trios titles.”

The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs) are the current AEW Trios Champions.

Stipulation set for MJF vs. Mark Briscoe match at AEW All Out

Mark Briscoe has named his stipulation for All Out.

The start of Saturday’s Collision saw MJF come to the ring to hear what Mark Briscoe had to say regarding the stipulation for their match next Saturday in Toronto. Briscoe, in a backstage promo, said he had a lot of ideas in his head. But he came down to two: he wanted tables in the match, and also wanted thumbtacks. He made it official that at All Out, the two would compete in a Tables ‘n’ Tacks match.

Briscoe ended the promo by telling MJF that he never gave him his wedding present, and asked him to turn around. He did and promptly got taken down by Briscoe, who quickly introduced thumbtacks. He was about to spike MJF with the Jay Driller when MJF managed to escape, fleeing to the back.

MJF and Briscoe have spent most of the summer feuding. After MJF attempted to light Briscoe on fire in order to get Hangman to acquiesce to his demands for Forbidden Door, Briscoe retaliated by coming out during the title match, angering MJF. After the two brawled following the main event of last week’s Collision, MJF threw out the challenge for All Out, telling Briscoe to name the time and the place. Briscoe said he needed more time to figure out the match, but told MJF he’d see him at All Out.

Updated AEW All Out card | Toronto, Canada | Saturday, September 20

  • AEW World Champion Hangman Page defends against Kyle Fletcher
  • Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Riho
  • AEW Unified Championship three-way: competitors TBA

  • AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm defends against Thekla, Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander in a four-way
  • Tables ‘n’ Tacks match: MJF vs. Mark Briscoe

AEW Collision live results: Unified title tournament begins, MJF appearance

A mini-tournament to determine a three-way Unified title match at next Saturday’s AEW All Out begins on tonight’s Collision from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

Reigning Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada will defend against Michael Oku who is making his AEW TV debut. Okada must win in order to move on to All Out.

Fellow Don Callis Family member Konosuke Takeshita will take on Anthony Bowens in another qualifier.

Mark Briscoe will be on the show to issue his stipulations to MJF for their All Out clash. MJF will also be in attendance to respond.

After Daniel Garcia appeared to join the Death Riders, he and Jon Moxley will take on Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong.

In another $500,000 ten-person tag team match, Jamie Hayter, Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander will take on Skye Blue, Megan Bayne, Penelope Ford, Thekla and Julia Hart.

FTR will battle Tommy Billington and Adam Priest in a rematch from last Saturday.

**********

Ian Riccaboni was in the ring, and introduced MJF. MJF said that since Briscoe cost him his world title at Forbidden Door, MJF cost Briscoe his title shot last week on Collision. MJF claimed that he was born superior to Briscoe, who was mediocre from birth, and that was why he had no trouble letting Briscoe pick the stipulation, because no matter how hard it works, it won’t change anything, and the white-collar MJF will beat the blue-collar Mark Briscoe.

Briscoe responded on the screen, thanking MJF, because Briscoe was just as excited as he was waiting for Santa as a kid, because he got to pick the stipulations for their match. Briscoe said he wanted tables and thumbtacks in their match, a TNT match, at All Out. Briscoe said he had a wedding present for MJF, and told him to turn around, and Briscoe attacked from behind as it was a pretaped promo. Briscoe poured thumbtacks in the middle of the ring and went for the Jay Driller, but MJF escaped. Briscoe blew his nose on MJF’s scarf as the segment ended.

I think there was a missed chance to have the contract for a world title shot on the line in this match, since MJF offered him a stipulation of his choosing. Maybe they will add that later, but I would prefer this match have some stakes rather than just a grudge match, and MJF can afford to lose that title shot.

–A recap video aired of Daniel Garcia joining the Death Riders on Dynamite.

–Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Hologram were conglomerating backstage, and O’Reilly commented that he got a call from Adam Cole, and Cole said that he was disgusted that he ever called Garcia a friend. Strong seemed upset that O’Reilly got a call from Cole, but said since Garcia made his best friend angry, he was going to beat Garcia up, and beat Moxley up for fun.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) vs. Anthony Bowens

Bowens hit some chops, but Takeshita raked the eyes and hit a flying European uppercut. Bowens responded with a unique neckbreaker that looked really cool. Bowens hit a dragon screw in the ropes, forcing Takeshita to the apron. Takeshita got sent into the ring post by Bowens, and he flew to the floor. Bowens hit a flying crossbody off the top ropes to the floor on Takeshita.

Bowens hit some strikes as they came back from the break, but Takeshita hit a poisonrana and Bowens popped up and hit a fameasser for a 2-count. Bowens went to the top rope and Takeshita cut him off, but Bowens slipped out, kicked the legs out from under Takeshita and hit a swinging DDT from the middle ropes on Takeshita for a 2-count.

Takeshita hit a uranage, but Bowens got up, superkicked the arms, and hit a slam of his own, followed by a Mollywhop that sent Takeshita to the ground. As Bowens brought Takeshita back into the ring, Takeshita hit a blue thunder bomb, a running knee, and the Raging Fire for the pinfall.

Result: Konosuke Takeshita

Excellent opening match tonight between these two. One of the best matches of Bowens career, at least when it comes to singles matches.

–Mascara Dorada had a promo video where he talked about how he was going to be the one that represents CMLL and lucha libre at AEW All Out when he beats the Beast Mortos and advances to face Takeshita and the winner of Kazuchika Okada and Michael Oku.

–A hype video for Riho and Mercedes Mone aired, with Mone doing the voice over for the video, saying that while Riho was the first ever AEW Women’s World Champion, she would not be the next TBS Champion.

–While the entrances were happening for the babyfaces, Tay Melo and Anna Jay said they did not trust Statlander because they wanted nothing to do with the Death Riders. Statlander insisted that she was not a member of the Death Riders, and Hayter claimed that she was there to fight tonight, but at AEW All Out she was talking the AEW Women’s World Championship from Toni Storm.

The Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue, & Thekla) & Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay), Kris Statlander (w/ Wheeler Yuta), Harley Cameron, & Jamie Hayter

Yuta was visibly in the corner of Statlander in this match, but Statlander did not seem happy about it, trying to get him to leave. Toni Storm was on commentary, bobbing her head to Jamie Hatyer’s theme, which is a fair response. Harley Cameron hit a head scissors on Megan Bayne that sent Bayne back into her corner, and she tagged out to Ford. Anna Jay tagged in and hit a kick on Ford, and it broke down into all the babyfaces hitting ten punches on each corner on all the heels, but then the heels pulled them all from the corner and started stomping a mudhole, as Steve Austin would say.

Toni Storm sent them to break, and Nigel McGuinness said that Toni looked absolutely fabulous, but it helped that she was sitting next to a Toad. Toady Schiavone. Nigel couldn’t even finish saying it and he and Toni were both cackling, so someone finally succeeded in getting Toni Storm to break. They then cut to a break on the international feed as well.

When they came back, Jamie Hatyer was hitting a spinebuster on Skye Blue. Bayne attacked Hayter from behind, and Ford came in and hit a stunner on Statlander, who did make the save for Hayter. Blue and hart hit a front suplex on Tay Melo. Harley Cameron and Statlander hit a double team move that sent Hart crashing face first to the mat. Every woma ngot in there and hit a series of big moves ending with Anna Jay hitting a flatliner on Julia Hart. Jamie Hayter and Megan Bayne started brawling, ending with a double lariat. Thekla ducked under a lariat from Anna Jay and hit a spear for the win.

Result: The Triangle of Madness, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford

–The heels started beating on the babyfaces and Mina Shirakawa and Queen Aminata ran out with some BBQing instruments. Shirakawa started hitting people with a cooler, and Aminata started hitting people with a metal spatula. I cannot say I expected that. Toni Storm stood up and told everyone to brawl, and dived onto a group of people. Hayter and Statlander hit double crossbodies on each other, and then Thekla went for a spear but Storm hit a Storm Zero as she went for it.

Toni Storm standing tall doesn’t exactly make me think she is losing the title at All Out, but they have another week to add some legitimacy to the other contenders. It seems the build up they did of Thekla holding the AEW Women’s World title was undone here though, so that is not how I would have booked this angle.

Max Caster vs. Big Bill (w/ Bryan Keith)

Max Caster was very upset when he found out who his opponent was for this match. Bill crushed Caster in the corner while screaming that he wanted Eddie Kingston. Bill looked directly in the camera and continued to call out Kingston, while the announcers showed Kingston’s response on social media saying he signed the contract, and all he needed was a location. Caster dodged a corner charge and hit the ropes, but Bill turned immediately around and hit a black hole slam for the pinfall.

Result: Big Bill

–Bill grabbed a mic and said that at least Max Caster had the guts to show up. The fans chanted loudly for Kingston as Bill said that the fans didn’t believe he was worthy of facing Kingston, but Kingston was only liked by the people because he looked like they did, and Bill, however, looked like a star, something Kingston would never understand. Bill named All Out as the location, and said he would face Kingston Toronto. Bill said Kingston was a loud mouth fraud, and he was going to beat him at All Out.

–Lexy Nair was with Jerry Lynn and Anthony Bowens, and Lynn said that he should have been clearer last week, saying that he needed to look in the mirror and ask “who’s missing” rather than what is missing. Just as he said this, Max Caster came through the curtain and shoved Bowens into Lynn. Bowens responded by attacking Caster and beating him around ringside. Caster responded with a lariat in the ring and the fans exploded with cheers. Bowens turned it around and started beating on Caster.

Jerry Lynn came into the ring and pulled them apart, and reminded Caster and Bowens that he was in the office when Tony Khan said that they had something as a tag team. Lynn said that Caster has not won a match since they broke up, and Bowens was floundering in the midcard. Bowens walked away, and Lynn said that Bowens couldn’t take the heat.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson came out and Christian said that Jerry Lynn was wasting his time trying to get those two back together, but since he was missing their clear talent, they were going to show him now. Christian and Johnson started beating on Jerry Lynn, and Max Caster stepped into try and defend him. Bowens struggled with what to do, but ultimately ran in and made the save, letting Lynn hit a lariat on Johnson, and then Caster and Bowens hit a double clothesline to send Johnson to the floor. The fans erupted as Lynn raised the hands of both men, and Bowens and Caster rolled out of the ring, not willing to accept they were better as a team.

–Mistico was with Lexy Nair and she asked him about his match with MJF at an upcoming CMLL show. MJF walked up with a man in a top hat and tuxedo, who translated what MJF said. MJF promised to take the mask from Mistico and retire him, and then promised he would destroy Mark Briscoe in Winnipeg, which is the wrong Canadian city. Mistico slapped the translator and promised to see MJF at Arena Mexico.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) vs. Tommy Billington & Adam Priest

Billington and Priest were given another shot at FTR, given the quality of the match last week. Wheeler and Billington started the match exchanging holds, and Wheeler tagged out at the first sign of Billington out wrestling him to Harwood, who came in and started chopping. Jinder Mahal would be proud. Priest tagged in and hit some hard European uppercuts, and ducked a chop on the floor as Harwood chopped the post. Nigel McGuinness noted that Priest was a lot like James Gibson, so I feel very validated in thinking that last week.

Billington tagged in and Harwood hit a massive top rope back superplex as they went to break. When they came back from break, Adam Priest was hitting forearms and hit a German suplex on Dax Harwood before hitting some hard European uppercuts. Wheeler low bridged Priest and he crashed to the floor. Wheeler drove Priest into the apron and tagged out to Harwood, who hung Priest over the middle ropes and started beating on them. Harwood hit a picture perfect Tully Blanchard sling shot suplex for a two count.

Wheeler spit gum into the face of Billington, who remained surprisingly composed. Wheeler yelled that Priest was a nobody, and shoved him back into the corner, but Priest kept fighting, and hit a back suplex on Wheeler. Harwood tried to stop the tag, but Billington hit a strike. Harwood hit a back body drop on Billington on the apron. Priest hit a forearm to the leg of Wheeler and locked on a half crab, but Harwood punched Priest right in the face to break it. Priest sent Harwood into the ring post, tagged out, and Billington hit a dropkick that sent Harwood into the post again. Billington hit an elbow drop on Harwood’s hurt hand from earlier and went to the top rope.

Harwood cut him off and hit a hard chop, but Billington hit a several headbutts and chops that sent Harwood to the mat. Priest sent Harwood to the floor and after as series of dives to the floor, Priest and Billington came very close to winning. There were so many near falls here, and it was excellent. The match ended when FTR managed to finally hit a spike piledriver on Billington after giving them absolutely everything to put them over before beating them.

Result: FTR

This match was awesome. An incredible tag team match that put over Priest and Billington a lot in losing, even more so than last week. Priest and Billington got something as a team, and I’d like to see AEW start to elevate them.

–A hype video aired for the 4-way ladder match at AEW All Out for the #1 Contendership to the AEW World Tag Team Championship, featuring The Young Bucks, Josh Alexander & Hechicero, The Bang Bang Gang, and The Matriarchy.

Michael Oku (w/ Amira Blair) vs. Kazuchika Okada (w/ Don Callis) for the AEW Unified Championship

Okada mocked Oku early on, but Oku was not the kind of wrestler that would take that, and he slapped Okada after the mocking break. Oku hit a hurricanrana and sent Okada to the apron. Oku hit a dropkick that sent Okada to the floor. Oku seems to be trying to make the most of his appearance here and hit a great Fosbury Flop on Okada. Oku went to the top rope and got dropkicked by Okada, sending Oku flying off the ropes and crashing into the barricade back first on the floor. The crowd screamed in horror, as it was a brutal looking spot.

Okada draped Oku on the guardrail and hit a DDT on the floor. Okada hit some forearms in the ring, as Callis claimed on commentary that he made Hechicero was so handsome without the mask that they made him wear one so no one would get distracted. Okada slammed Oku and hit an elbow off the top rope. Okada went for the Rainmaker, but Oku blocked it and hit a Pele kick. Oku ducked another attempt at the Rainmaker and hit a superkick. Oku went for a half crab on Okada, but Okada fought it off, and Oku hit a PK and a lionsault for a 2-count.

Oku called for another half crab and locked it in this time. Okada made it to the ropes quickly to break the submission. Okada dodged a corner charge, but Oku hit a series of kicks, ending with another superkick. Oku went for a flying crossbody and Okad astood up and hit a dropkick that sent Oku to the mat. Okada went for the Rainmaker, but Oku cradled him for a 2-count. Oku missed another corner charge, and Okada went for the Rainmaker again, but Oku tried to cradle him again, and Okada blocked it, pulled him up into a tombstone, and then hit a Rainmaker for the pinfall. This match was awesome.

Result: Kazuchika Okada

Two things really helped make this match great, and it was Michael Oku trying to steal the show and make a name for himself, and Okada giving him every opportunity to do so. Oku could be a top guy in AEW with the way he wrestles, and its only a matter of time before AEW signs him full time.

–Takeshita came out and pointed at Okada and his title, indicating he wanted to take it from his teammate in the Don Callis family.

–An excellent video aired for Hangman Adam Page and Kyle Fletcher.

The Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia) (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. The Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly)

Garcia and Kyle O’Reilly started the match, exchanging some great mat wrestling. Strong tagged in and he decided he wanted to beat on the young man, hitting some hard strikes and chops before he and O’Reilly hit chops and kicks together. Moxley tried to make the save, and O’Reilly ran across the apron and hit a flying knee on Moxley before resuming his assault on Garcia. O’Reilly hit a beautiful brainbuster before transitioning into an armbar that Moxley broke up.

Strong tried to hit a Sick Kick from the ring to the floor on Moxley, but Shafir pulled Moxley out of the way and Moxley laid Strong out on the floor. O’Reilly tried to help Strong, but Garcia hit a chop block on O’Reilly and did a figure four around the ring post, before getting helped up by Shafir. Moxley and Garcia continued the assault of O’Reilly. Daddy Magic on commentary was clearly upset about this turn of Garcia, and Garcia himself seemed indecisive, but Moxley quickly took him aside and directed him to continue attacking the knee of O’Reilly.

Moxley chopped O’Reilly and kicked his leg out of his leg. Moxley tagged out to Garcia and Garcia tried to elbow the knee, but O’Reilly caught him and went for an armbar. Moxley nailed O’Reilly to break it up and Garcia forearmed Strong from the apron. O’Reilly and Garcia exchanged forearms in the middle of the ring until O’Reilly hit a PK with his bad leg, but he limped over and tagged out to Strong, who hit a back breaker on Garcia and an Olympic slam on Moxley. Strong hit a gutbuster on Garcia and a series of running elbows on Moxley before hitting a Tiger Driver for a 2-count. Moxley finally countered strong and locked on a D’Arce Choke, but O’Reilly broke it up. O’Reilly ate a lariat from Moxley, and Strong hit a Sick Kick on Moxley and everyone was down.

Moxley pulled Strong into a bulldog choke and Garcia locked a kneebar on O’Reilly, who started kicking Moxley in the face while in the submission to try and save Strong. Strong hit a flying knee on Moxley, and Garcia flew in for the save. O’Reilly tagged in, limped to the apron, and hit a running dropkick off the apron onto Moxley. O’Reilly hit a flying armbar on Garcia back in the ring, but Moxley ran in and hit a curb stomp on O’Reilly breaking it up. Garcia put the Dragon Tamer on O’Reilly to get the submission win.

Result: The Death Riders

I loved this match so much. Garcia looked refreshed, and Moxley was great, as always. Garcia is a perfect fit for this group and it has revitalized his energy already.

–Daddy Magic got in the face of Garcia, asking what he was doing, and Garcia ignored him and walked away with Moxley to end the show.

Final Thoughts

While the early part of the show had a few questionable booking moments (I am thinking of Toni Storm laying out Thekla), overall this was a tremendous episode of Collision, especially with the FTR vs. Priest & Billington match, Okada/Oku, and the main event. Garcia has already been elevated by joining the Death Riders, and I’m very excited to see what Moxley can bring out of him, as he has a knack for making everyone around him better, in kayfabe and in reality.

Two matches official, challenges made for AEW All Out

One match is official for All Out, while challenges have been made for three more.

On this week’s Collision, Jon Moxley defeated Daniel Garcia in a closely-fought contest after getting the win with a roll-up. Later, in a backstage promo, Moxley said he wanted nothing more than to have Darby Allin by his side but since he keeps coming back to fight him, he will take Allin out and make room for someone who wants to be a master of the craft. He said he would put Allin in the ground at All Out.

Three challenges were also made for September 20 in Toronto. After Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Mina Shirakawa, and Toni Storm defeated The Triangle of Madness and Megan Bayne, the heels immediately went back in for the attack before Jamie Hayter came out for the save. Hayter tried to help Storm back to her feet, but Storm rejected the offer and instead challenged her, Statlander, and Thekla to a four-way match for the AEW Women’s title at All Out.

The Women’s title match was later made official following Collision.

Another challenge took place when TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher came to the ring with Don Callis and Josh Alexander and called out AEW World Champion Hangman Page, who he took out at the end of Wednesday’s Dynamite. He said it would not take him six years to be the top guy in AEW and if Hangman Page didn’t accept his challenge, he’d have no problem putting Page out of action and taking the title away from him.

The end of Collision saw MJF make an appearance just one day after his wedding, shoving Mark Briscoe off the top rope and allowing Konosuke Takeshita to pick up the victory. After a confrontation with Takeshita, MJF and Briscoe got into a brawl and had to be separated by security. MJF dared Briscoe to name the time, place, and stipulation of their match. Briscoe told MJF that he had a lot of ideas and wouldn’t reveal the stipulation yet, but called the match for All Out.

Updated AEW All Out card | Toronto, Canada | Saturday, September 20

  • AEW World Championship: Hangman Page defends against Kyle Fletcher (challenge issued)
  • Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Riho
  • The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, MVP & Bobby Lashley) vs. Ricochet and the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
  • Coffin match: Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin
  • Four-way for AEW Women’s title: Toni Storm defends against Thekla, Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander
  • MJF vs. Mark Briscoe, stipulation to be determined (challenge issued)

AEW Collision live results: Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia rematch

The intrigue between former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia continues on tonight’s live AEW Collision from Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.

Moxley defeated Garcia in a recent clash on Dynamite, but took an interest in Garcia afterward with speculation he may be trying to recruit him for the Death Riders. This will be their fourth-ever singles match with Moxley a perfect 3-0.

Mark Briscoe battles Konosuke Takeshita where if Briscoe wins, he earns a TNT title shot against Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher and Don Callis will also be heard from on the broadcast.

In another billed all-star eight-woman tag team match, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm teams with Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander against Thekla, Skye Blue, Julia Hart and Megan Bayne.

FTR takes on Adam Priest and the new “Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington to round out the show.

**********

Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia

Collision starting off with a big match, as Daniel Garcia tries to finally get a win over Jon Moxley. Moxley fled to the ropes after a lock up, trying to bait Garcia into making a mistake. Both men exchanged some technical segments, with Garcia locking on a modified STF, transitioning into a pinfall attempt for 1. Moxley hit a snapmare and a kick to the back, and Garcia fired up and hit some hard forearms on Moxley, but Moxley responded with a hard lariat, getting what he wanted and putting Garcia on the defence.

Moxley started taking Garcia apart at this point with punches and chops in the corner. Garcia did not stay on the defence for too long, as Garcia attacked the knee of Moxley with dragon screws, submissions, and smashing Moxley’s knee into the ring post before locking on a figure four around the ring post. As they went back to the ring, Moxley hit a shotgun dropkick that sent Garcia flying from the apron into the announce table. Moxley stretched his knee out on the guardrail as they went to break on TNT.

Moxley continued to beat Garcia around the ringside area, including throwing him into the steps during the break. Moxley hit a spike piledriver in the middle of the ring for a 2-count and transitioned into an armbar. Garcia managed to roll into the ropes as they came back from the break on TNT. Moxley went for a Death Valley Driver on the apron, but Garcia fought out with repeated elbows to Moxley’s head, stunning him, and Garcia hit a piledriver on the apron to a huge pop from the crowd.

Garcia countered a bulldog choke with a stalling back suplex, and hit some face scraping kicks in the corner. Moxley went for a lariat out of the corner but Garcia ducked, and Moxley went for a sharpshooter, but Garcia countered into a very close 2-count. Garcia hit a superplex out of the corner for a 2-count and did a bulldog choke on Moxley, but Moxley fought out and hit a Paradigm Shift. Garcia kicked out at 2, so Moxley hit a running knee to the face for another 2-count and a locked on the bulldog choke, but Garcia rolled through and locked on the Dragon Tamer.

Moxley barely made the ropes to escape the hold. Both men struggled to their feat and Moxley invited Garcia to keep hitting him with hard forearms and stomps. Garcia countered out of a Death Rider, and them Moxley suplexed them both over the top rope and to the floor. This match is awesome. Garcia and Moxley hit a series of hard forearms, and Garcia went for the rebound lariat, but Moxley countered into a rear naked choke that Garcia countered into a roll up, but Moxley sat down on it and pinned Garcia. Tremendous match.

Result: Jon Moxley

If you are someone that thinks Jon Moxley can’t work, you need to watch this match. Moxley was tremendous in this match, giving everything he could to Garcia before winning. An excellent match that in different times would be considered one of the better TV matches of the year, but this is pretty much standard fare for AEW. Nonetheless, an awesome match.

–Daniel Garcia shoved Daddy Magic away and talked to Tony Schiavone saying that he was tired of having a tremendous match, but still losing, and while he keeps getting back up, having a good 5-years just isn’t good enough. It seems like Garcia is going to be making some changes, and might be joining those Death Riders soon, I think.

–A recap aired of Kyle Fletcher hitting a brainbuster on a chair on Hangman Page and a brainbuster off the apron through a table on Kenny Omega on Dynamite.

–Big Bill was backstage with Bryan Keith, and Bill called out Philadelphia saying that this was the city that mocked him as he hit rock bottom, but he is now in the best shape of his life, and he was a real tough guy that came from New York City. Bill called out the tough guy from New York City that he hasn’t seen in a long time, calling out Eddie Kingston. The fans reacted with chants for Kingston, so it seems we’ll be seeing him back soon, which brings joy to my heart.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokely Hathaway) vs. Adam Priest & Tommy Billington

Adam Priest reminds me a lot of 2005 James Gibson (Jamie Knoble), from his size, to the toughness he exudes in the ring. It’s clear that FTR really like Priest, as they were happy to sell for him in this match. Cash and Priest exchanged some holds, then Billington and Harwood tagged in and continued doing the same. Billington hit a monkey flip and a Ricky Steamboat armdrag before tagging out to Priest. Harwood immediately drove Priest back to his corner and tagged out to Wheeler as they double teamed Priest.

Billington and Priest hit stereo snap suplexes that sent FTR to the floor, while a confused Stokley Hathaway looked on. Nigel McGuinness stated that he was surprised Stokely Hathaway wasn’t in a wheelchair after taking a killswitch from Christian Cage, which made me laugh. FTR hit a double clothesline on Priest as they went to ad break. Wheeler suplexed Priest across the top rope and started working him over for the heat. Wheeler distracted the referee while Harwood fishhooked Priest.

Wheeler and Priest started brawling on the floor, and Priest got the better of it. Priest threw Wheeler into the pillar near the crowd, then went back into the ring with Wheeler and hit a clothesline that sent him back to the floor, followed by a dive, while Billington locked on a crossface on Harwood, and hit a wheelbarrow suplex off the top rope for a 2-count. Billington missed a top rope headbutt, and Harwood tried to hit a superplex for Power & Glory, but Priest knocked Wheeler off the top rope and Billington knocked Harwood off the ropes before they hit a double flying headbutt for a 2-count that Wheeler broke up.

Harwood hit a Hansen lariat on Priest and FTR hit stereo German suplexes on Billington and Priest for a 2-count. Priest and Billington did roll up FTR for a near fall, but FTR quickly got back up and hit hard strikes before finally hitting Power & Glory on Priest for the pinfall.

Result: FTR

It seems FTR was determined to give these young guys a chance to look great, just like Moxley was with Garcia. Excellent match.

–Harwood locked Priest in a crossface and Billington made the save, but Hathaway made them stop the beat down, blaming Copeland and Christian Cage for the violence committed in the match, and wanted them to know that it was only 2-weeks before they ended their careers.

–An ad played with Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum as they were hanging out in brother nature, while they suddenly heard the cry of a peacock. They looked around and found several of the Boys, and they turned around and saw Dalton Castle there. Dalton Castle joined them and said that they were going to break some hearts. Dalton Castle is back!

–Jon Moxley talked backstage about what all the young guys wanted as they kept chasing after him, and it couldn’t be his God given talent, as he had none, or his people skills, as he doesn’t have those, and it wasn’t his belts, but it was because he is the guy that has the will to keep doing what needs to be done. Moxley made it clear that he wanted nothing more than to have Darby Allin by his side, fighting with him, but since he keeps coming back to fight for more, he is going to take Darby Allin out and make room for someone next to him that wants to be a master of the craft, as that is why people keep coming for him. Excellent promo.

The Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue, & Thekla) & Megan Bayne vs. Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Mina Shirakawa, & Toni Storm

Wheeler Yuta came to ringside to talk to Statlander before being sent to the back. Thekla and Toni Storm started the match, with a battle of two different generations of Stardom stars. Cameron came in and hit a Russian legsweep on Julia Hart, while Statlander came in and did a tilt-a-whirl on Cameron to send her into Hart for a 2-count. Shirakawa hit a slingblade on Hart for another near fall, but to stop Shirakawa from tagging out to continue the offence, the heels ran around the ring and pulled all the babyfaces from the apron. Hart tagged out to Bayne, who hit a clothesline on Shirakawa, as they went to ad break.

Blue continued to get the heat on Shirakawa throughout the ad break, leading to the fans to chant loudly for Shirakawa. Hart hit a standing moonsault on Shirakawa for a 2-count as they came back from the break. Shirakawa figure foured the legs of Skye Blue while hitting a DDT on Hart. Toni Storm came in and ran wild, but was pulled from the ring by Megan Bayne. Statlander held the hand on Mina Shirakawa, allowing her to run up the ropes and hit a dive onto Bayne on the floor. Statlander and Cameron hit a double team move on Blue. The rest of the women all hit big moves, ending with Statlander hitting a big lariat on Bayne, but Bayne responded with her own, and then both women tumbled to the floor.

Cameron and Blue were left in the ring and they crashed into each other and were left laying in the middle of the ring. Hart and Statlander exchanged strikes, but Hart locked on an octopus stretch on Statlander in the middle of the ring. Cameron sent Bayne flying into the ring post, but Bayne drove Cameron into a ringside pillar. Statlander hit an electric chair on Julia Hart before wrapping Hart up with a seatbelt pinfall, stealing Wheeler Yuta’s move.

Result: Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Mina Shirakawa, & Toni Storm

In the post match, the Triangle of Madness attacked Statlander, while also laying out Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm before Jamie Hayter made the save and drove them away, while Hayter and Storm were left in the ring. Hayter offered to help Storm up, and Storm was suspicious, but Statlander tried to make peace between the two of them, as the fans chanted “Hug it out!”

Storm grabbed a microphone and asked if they wanted to get nuts and appear to challenge the Triangle of Madness to a six-woman tag with Statlander and Hayter for AEW All Out. All parties agreed…except it was actually a four-way Women’s World title match featuring Storm, Thekla, Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter.

–An Ace Austin hype video aired, showing his run with Chris Bey in New Japan and as a member of Bullet Club, and highlights of matches he had there and in ROH over the years. Austin is great, so I can’t wait to see what he will do in AEW.

–Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn were backstage, and that was a nice transition to Bullet Club Gold from the last video, and they talked about needing to figure out what was next. They put away Card Blade and Card Colten, saying they needed to take this seriously, and left the interview with Lexy Nair.

–A recap of Riho returning to attack Mercedes Mone aired, and Mercedes Mone challenged her and Alex Windsor to a match for Dynamite when she teams with Emi Sakura, the trainer of Riho.

–Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, & Kyle Fletcher came out to discuss what happened with Hangman Page and Kenny Omega last week, while also talking about Mark Briscoe and Konosuke Takeshita later in the night with Tony Schiavone. Callis cut Schiavone off and claimed that Fletcher has put Kenny Omega out forever, and how Alexander had the other team exactly where he wanted them last week.

Alexander talked about how when he debuted in AEW he fought Hangman Page and lost, but he is not the same guy that debuted earlier this year, and he was going to run through Hangman Page for the sake of the Callis family. Fletcher talked about how he has taken out all his contenders, so in the meantime, he had plans, and he was the man to fill the shoes of Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, and Will Ospreay, he was going to challenge Hangman Adam Page to a world title match at AEW All Out.

Fletcher said that All Out was the show where Hangman Page got his first chance at the AEW World Championship, but unlike Page, he was not going to take 3 years to win it, and will not fail like Page did in his first title match. Nor would it take him 6 years to become the top guy in AEW, and if Hangman Page didn’t accept, he had no problem putting Page on the injured list and taking the vacant title from his hands. This was an excellent promo.

–Kyle O’Reilly was backstage with Ishii, Roderick Strong, and Hologram, and he said that it was weird, because they successfully cloned a luchadore (Clon, the evil Hologram, apparently). O’Reilly said that Ishii was going back to Japan for a few weeks, and Strong said he would fine if Ishii never came back. O’Reilly said he could tell Ishii was emotional, as Ishii stared on, emotionless, which was funny. O’Reilly claimed that everything was great in Conglomalamaland, and they just needed to cool off.

–Lexy Nair was with Anthony Bowens backstage, and Bowens said he was happy there was no Billy Gunn or Max Caster nearby, and he was busy doing media for AEW with a ton of WBD events, and Jerry Lynn walked up and said Bowens needed to take a long, hard look in the mirror to find out what was missing.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Josh Alexander & Don Callis) vs. Mark Briscoe

Briscoe and Takeshita started the match relatively calm, exchanging holds, until Takeshita raked the eyes of Briscoe. They started exchanging strikes at this moment as they went to break on TNT. Briscoe hit ten punches in the corner to the delight of the fans. Briscoe has a remarkable way of getting the fans into everything he does, and eliciting sympathy in ways few can. Takeshita took out the leg of Briscoe as he went for the Cactus Elbow, and hit a DDT to the floor off the apron.

Briscoe was not one to take that laying down though, hitting some hard chops once he was back on his feat, and hitting a Fisherman’s Buster for a 2-count. Briscoe flipped over a back body drop, landing on his feet, but turned into a Blue Thunder Bomb from Takeshita for a 2-count. Takeshita sent Briscoe to the floor and hit a tope con giro in front of the announce desk. Briscoe low bridged Takeshita and hit a dropkick before hitting a block buster off the apron to the floor.

Briscoe hit a running lariat for a 2-count. Both men hit lariats and were left down in the middle of the ring. Takeshita went for a superplex, but Briscoe responded with a sunset powerbomb off the ropes and went for the Froggy Bow, but Takeshita got the knees up. Takeshita hit a helluva kick in the corner and a German suplex, but Briscoe fired up and nailed Takeshita with a lariat for a 2-count. Briscoe went for the Jay Driller, but Takeshita countered into an inverted piledriver and a wheelbarrow into a German suplex for a 2-count.

Briscoe hit a palm strike and climbed the ropes, and Takeshita cut him off. Takeshita went for a suplex or falcon arrow, but Briscoe blocked it and bit the head of Takeshtia before hitting a headbutt and going for a Froggy Bow, but Don Callis got on the apron, and MJF ran out and shoved Briscoe off the ropes, letting Takeshita hit a running knee and a falcon arrow for the pinfall.

Result: Konosuke Takeshita

This was an incredible match. Briscoe and Takeshita steal the show on a show where it was hard to steal it after the opener.

–MJF started beating on Briscoe in the post match, but Takeshita shoved MJF, indicating that he didn’t need help. Callis tried to make peace between the two, taking Takeshita from the ring. MJF and Briscoe started brawling and security ran out to pull them apart.

MJF grabbed a mic and said that he was tired of Briscoe, and he could name the place and the stipulation, because it was time to end this. Briscoe said that MJF made a huge mistake, and the place was All Out in Toronto, while the stipulation was something he would come up with later.

Final Thoughts

This was a tremendous episode of Collision. Some major angles to setup matches for AEW All Out, great wrestling, and great promos. You can’t ask for a better show than this to hype up a PPV, while also being great in a self contained way with the quality of the matches. AEW hit it out of the park this week.

AEW Dynamite – 9/10/25

  • Hangman Adam Page vs. Josh Alexander

Two challenges issued on AEW Dynamite

A pair of challenges were made during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite from Philadelphia, neither of which were accepted — as of now, anyway.

In a vignette, Darby Allin issued a bloody challenge to Jon Moxley for next month’s All Out from Toronto, using the blood from his maimed ear at Forbidden Door to spell it out on a white backdrop. Allin has been in pursuit of Moxley and the Death Riders since he returned at July’s All In after they threw Allin down a flight of stairs in December (writing him off TV ahead of his climb of Mt. Everest).

Moxley chose not to answer the challenge himself, instead instructing Wheeler Yuta to tell Allin “no” following Moxley’s match with Daniel Garcia that opened the show. Allin defeated Claudio Castagnoli in a falls count anywhere match to close the show, eventually escaping an attack by Moxley, Castagnoli and the returning Gabe Kidd after the match.

**********

Later in the show, former Ring of Honor World Champion Mark Briscoe did a pre-taped promo with his newest child in which he issued a challenge to rival and reigning TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher.

Briscoe was calling out MJF after their latest altercation at Forbidden Door before turning his attention to Fletcher who he said mentioned his name recently. He said they have competed against each other four times in AEW and are at 2-2 and feels Fletcher is unsure if he can beat Briscoe. He then said they should do it in Philadelphia.

The champion was not on Dynamite to answer the challenger, but no matches were announced for Saturday’s live Collision so it’s possible it could be set for that show. Briscoe is very familiar with the city given he and the late Jay Briscoe’s past in ROH and other regional indies.

The second AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament semifinals matchup is also set for tonight’s show, with The Young Bucks facing Brodido’s Brody King and Bandido. The winners will advance to the tournament finals to face FTR. The eventual tournament winner will challenge The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin for the AEW Tag Team Championship at Forbidden Door on August 24.

Another match with Forbidden Door implications is set for tonight’s episode. A four-way between Queen Aminata, Skye Blue, Alex Windsor, and Billie Starkz will determine the AEW representative in the TBS title match at Forbidden Door. Stardom and CMLL will also send representatives to Forbidden Door for a four-way title match against TBS Champion Mercedes Mone.

Mone also makes her return to AEW TV for the first time since All In on tonight’s episode.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz before talking up tonight’s main event, Mark Briscoe vs. MJF, who is backstage holding his World Title contract and newly won CMLL Light Heavyweight Title (which he calls the CMLL World Title) saying since Hangman Page refused to give him a World Title match, one of his friends is going to pay. Mark Briscoe is looking in the eyes of the Devil and he has no problem sending you back to hell or worse, Dumpster Delaware where he’ll be stuck being a chicken farmer and blue-collar b*tch. He’s not championship material, he’s not a real man, he’s white trash that got lucky, which is why the fans cheer for Briscoe, they pity him. Tonight, MJF said Briscoe’s luck will run out.

Jon Moxley (w/Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey (w/Kevin Knight)

(Very solid opener, with Bailey getting a lot of offense in this, with Moxley’s mind clearly being on Darby Allin popping up to haunt him over the past few weeks. A needed win for Moxley though, who gets back to his winning ways, as we would learn after the commercial break that a challenge has officially been made for Forbidden Door.)

Bell sounded and Bailey exploded out with offense while Moxley was scanning the crowd, potentially for Darby Allin. Corner punches connect, but Moxley raked the eyes and dished out punches of his own. Moxley kept Bailey grounded, but while Moxley dodged a handspring, Bailey responded with a dropkick. Bailey floated over in the corner, went for his moonsault, but Moxley simply poked the eyes, while Yuta took the ref, allowing Shafir to sweep out Bailey’s leg. Shafir got in the face of Knight, while Moxley slapped him in the face. That brief hesitation allowed Bailey to hit his Triangle Moonsault, drape Moxley over the barricade, where he hit a wild standing moonsault double knees heading into break.

Moxley regained control during commercial, hitting an avalanche butterfly suplex and wrench away at the fingers. Bailey battled back with kicks and missile dropkick that landed flush off the second. More kicks lit up Moxley until a running Shooting Star got a near fall. Moxley tried a Rear Naked Choke, but Bailey spun out with an arm breaker before going up top for a huge Shooting Star Press for two, but quickly transitioned into a cross-arm breaker, then triangle choke. Moxley powered up, Bailey got a hurricanrana back to the arm breaker, as both traded a series of near falls until Bailey popped up into another moonsault double knees.

Knight & Shafir again started arguing outside, allowing Yuta to trip up Bailey with the ref distracted. Moxley hit a suplex slam, but Bailey kicked out, as Darby Allin appeared behind Yuta, put a rag on his face and dragged him to the back. Moxley was distracted and Bailey got a flash roll-up for two. Time Adventure popped Moxley in the face, as Bailey went back to the arm breaker. Moxley spun out and sank in a choke before spiking Bailey with a Death Rider for the win.

Post-match, Moxley & Shafir scrambled through the crowd to presumably go and save Yuta, as Knight checked on Bailey.

Match Result: Jon Moxley defeated Speedball Mike Bailey

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Timeless Toni Storm & Alex Windsor to talk about both the 4-Way TBS Title Qualifier tonight and AEW Women’s Title match at Forbidden Door with Athena. Storm said tonight is a menagerie of bruising brawling bitches, something she used to dream of. If there’s anything she knows about this non sexual friendship with Windsor, it’s you can beat us down, but not beat us off. Windsor had to calm Storm down before saying you can’t give her any lick without her giving any lick back and was shocked she’s starting to talk in inuendoes like Storm, who said if Athena wants to whip out her John Hancock and wet the ink, they can do it tonight, tape up your tits and tango. Storm & Windsor danced out of frame, leaving Paquette baffled.

-Jon Moxley & Marina Shafir caught up with Wheeler Yuta, who appeared to be in a body bag, as they pulled him to safety just as Darby Allin sped in on his truck, stared down Moxley before peeling out. They unzipped the body bag and Yuta had a sign on his forehead that read Forbidden Door.

**********

-Earlier today, Renee Paquette was out back for the arrival of the TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, who stepped out with all her titles and chomping on a watermelon slice before tossing it aside. Paquette complimented continuously the All In Title match with Mone & Toni Storm before Mone told Paquette not to be such a mark and walked off laughing.

Queen Aminata vs. Skye Blue vs. Alex Windsor vs. Billie Starkz (w/Athena) in a Forbidden Door TBS Title 4-Way Qualifier

(For the most part, I’d say this was an ok 4-way, but there were a lot of moving parts, resulting in some seriously clunky moments down the stretch. The highlights were Windsor & Aminata absolutely clobbering each other with their strike exchange and the wild Starkz Swanton onto Blue. Windsor certainly seemed like the favorite heading into this and it was her first major win in AEW, as I’ve really liked the brief pairing of her & Storm for the time being.)

While Athena came out last with Starkz, Timeless Toni Storm made her entrance to be in Windsor’s corner. Blue found herself being ping ponged between Aminata & Windsor, resulting in Blue screaming for them to stop, which she was unsuccessful at, as they sent her & Starkz to the outside. Chocolate Kisses from Aminata to Windsor, as Excalibur said she learned that at the Team Taz Dojo, which absolutely broke Taz on commentary. Aminata was pulled outside by Blue, who sent her into the steps, as back inside, Blue hit a snap hurricanrana on Windsor and step up knee in the ropes, but Aminata was there to deck Blue with a pump kick while on the apron. Blue swept out Aminata’s legs and hit a spinning neckbreaker off the apron, Windsor flew in with a somersault senton, got the crowd going, only to miss Starkz flying off the top onto the pile into picture in picture.

Back from break, Aminata & Blue slugged it out in the ring, as Blue threw a thrust kick, tried Code Blue, but Windsor cut it off with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Starkz broke up the cover with a face buster, only to run into a pop-up powerbomb by Windsor for two. Sharpshooter applied on Starkz, but Aminata slowly booted Windsor to break, as both started ramping up the forearms until Blue & Starkz cut them both off and trade high kicks on one another until Windsor & Aminata dropped both with stereo German Suplexes and headbutts before throwing one at each other, causing the reset.

Windsor cut off Blue in the corner with an uppercut headbutt, looked for a superplex, but Blue countered into an Avalanche Code Blue. Aminata broke the count with a huge reverse DDT, but Starkz flew in with a Swanton, just flattening poor Skye Blue in the process. Aminata popped up and hit a rolling suplex for two of her own. Blue set a chair up ringside, wanting a Code Blue onto it, but Aminata blocked, leaving Blue to just smash her own face awkwardly into the chair. Back in the ring, Windsor hit a discus lariat on Starkz, as Athena went to get in the ring, but Storm pulled her to the floor. Starkz wanted a brainbuster, but Windsor countered into a Toni Storm Big Package for the flash pin.

Post-match, Mercedes Mone strutted to the ring, as Excalibur said her appearance is the headline here. Mone had to have help getting in the ring, as she’s wearing all of her belts, handing off one at a time to referee Aubrey before holding up the one on the line at Forbidden Door in the face of Windsor, that being the TBS Title. As Storm got in the ring to join Windsor, she was blindsided by an O-Face from Athena, while Mone hit a Backstabber on Windsor. Mone & Athena stared each other down, seemingly having a truce, as Athena tended to her Minion, Starkz.

Match Result: Alex Windsor defeated Billie Starkz, Queen Aminata & Skye Blue pinning Starkz to advance to the TBS Title 4-Way at Forbidden Door

-Renee Paquette earlier today was backstage with The Young Bucks, asking if they’ve seen Brodido and the success they’ve had? Nick said there’s some serious disrespect, as Matt grabbed stagehand Charlie and yelled at him for the lackluster entrance given to them last week, handing him notes to give to Justin Roberts after such a disrespectful introduction.

Kyle Fletcher’s TNT Title Celebration

Renee Paquette is in the ring and officially introduces the new TNT Champion, Kyle Fletcher, with the Don Callis Family by his side, as a table of titles the faction holds is set up ringside. Paquette said it was a hard fought, gruesome battle against Dustin Rhodes on Collision, when she’s cut off by Callis, who was booed out of the building. Callis said why is he building the largest numerical faction in all wrestling? Power. If you want power in this business, you cast your eyes on the gold and when you have gold, you control destiny. Callis brings up Kazuchika Okada’s three titles and now Fletcher’s TNT Title. Much like Okada put Kenny Omega on the shelf, Fletcher might have ended Dustin Rhodes’ career entirely. Fletcher said Rhodes got exactly what he deserved for stealing his moment at All In. A 60-year-old man doesn’t deserve to be in the ring with The Protostar, as it’s not the only favorite he’s put on the shelf, who knows if we’ll see Adam Cole ever again.

Fletcher fulfilled his destiny by winning the TNT Title, but now it’s about legacy. Callis said he knows Fletcher will be the greatest TNT Champion of all time and he’s spent the last 2 days slaving away, he can still feel the paint under his fingers, as Fletcher wants to see it badly. Callis unveils a painting of Fletcher & himself super ripped, much like he had with Kenny Omega years ago as World Champion. Fletcher said it’s the greatest gift he’s ever received and knows he owes all of this success to Callis, while wanting to do The Family proud. Fletcher’s very first defense of the TNT Title will be Saturday on Collision, as Fletcher will be the TNT Champion for a very, very, very, very long time.

-Alicia Atout is backstage with Adam Copeland, who said he didn’t know how to take Christian Cage’s non-apology last week, as it’s clear that Cage has learned nothing. Cope said he has his hands full with Nick, Kip & Shayna, while Cope has his hands full with FTR & Stokely as well, so he got ahold of Tony Khan and next week, it’ll be for the first time ever, Cope vs. Stokely. Cope said it’ll be up to FTR if they want to break their order of protection from him and save Stokely, or stand in the back and watch him get slaughtered, the choice is theirs.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Brodido (ROH Champion Bandido & Brody King) in an AEW Tag Team Title Eliminator Semifinal

(This was absolutely a PPV caliber tag team showdown, as both teams knocked it out of the park and the fans were on fire throughout. While the jokes at the expense of The Bucks (or Generation Me tonight) have been hilarious backstage and their intros, I’m glad it hasn’t bled over much into their actual in ring work. Brodido continue to impress as a duo and I’m glad they got the victory and will face FTR, in which should be another excellent tag match to see who faces The Hurt Syndicate at Forbidden Door.)

The Bucks were looking to get their entrance, when the big screen that usually raises only lifted to their feet, causing Matt & Nick to crawl under it. Roberts read the intro like he was sending a text, literally saying exclamation mark, comma and question marks before one huge boom set off and almost made The Bucks deaf until one poof of smoke went off. A keyboard theme played, as the name read Max & Jeremy, which Taz & Excalibur said was some inside baseball. Max & Jeremy or Matt & Nick, rushed King on the apron, but Bandido met both with a Tornillo as the crowd chanted Jobbers at The Bucks. King tagged in, quickly mowed over The Bucks before assisting Bandido with a huge moonsault onto both outside. Both Bucks were sat down on a chair against the barricade, where King squished them with a cross body as things went to break.

Back from commercial, Nick flew in with a springboard hurricanrana on King before sending Bandido crashing outside. Risky Business on King, who kicked out, as Nick continued to keep the big man down in the corner. Assisted Slice Bread into a running boot got a near fall, as Matt wanted More Bang for Your Buck, but collapsed with the weight of King on his back. King fired off a forearm to flatten Nick in mid-air, as Bandido made the tag. Nick hit his slingshot facebuster on Bandido and comeback moonsault to the floor onto King, as The Bucks followed it up with the assisted Swanton for two. King was low bridged after making the save and Matt hit a Blockbuster off the apron, while Nick connected on an Escalera onto Bandido going into a second break.

The Bucks couldn’t decide on what to call their former EVP/BTE Trigger, causing enough of a delay for Bandido to dodge and make the hot tag to King, who was a house of fire. Huge double corner cannonball, until King floated over in the corner and hit a somersault senton off the apron onto both Bucks. A wild double team saw King use the ropes to add extra height to a springboarding Bandido, who wiped out The Bucks with a somersault plancha. Back inside, Bandido connected on a huge Frog Splash on Nick for two before a Cazadora Slam was blocked, as Nick got the knees up. Matt took advantage with a Cazadora Facebuster on Bandido, but was crotched in the corner by King, who hit a huge superplex. Brodido tried the double team catapult monkey flip, but Bandido crashed and burned. Sueprkick Party from The Bucks, who hit their bounce back double stomp on Bandido, sandwiching King in the process. TK Driver connected, but King just broke the count.

Matt scaled the ropes and spiked Bandido with a DDT on the apron, as he tried the same on King, who caught him in mid-air, powered him up with a Death Valley Driver on the apron. Nick was there to save his brother with a Tornado DDT off the apron, as Nick & Bandido fought while both stood on the barricade. Nick hit a Superkick, charged, only for Bandido to Press Slam him onto his brother, all while standing on the barricade. Back inside, X-Knee on Matt, as Bandido followed with a 21-Plex, but Nick broke it up. King wiped out Nick with a Tope Suicida, as Bandido flattened Matt with an Avalanche Fall Away Slam for two. Senton from King, as this time Brodido was successful hitting the Monkey Flip 450 Splash for the victory.

Match Result: Brodido defeated The Young Bucks when Bandido pinned Matt to advance to the Tag Team Title Eliminator Finals

-Highlight video of MJF & Mark Briscoe’s rivalry is recapped ahead of tonight’s main event before Renee Paquette is backstage with The Hurt Syndicate. MVP extends a congratulations to Brodido for winning their match and they will be more than happy to hurt either them or FTR at Forbidden Door. MJF walks in and Lashley & Benjamin walk out, as he said MVP has known him since he was 18 years old, they don’t need Shelton & Bob, they can win the AEW World Title together. MVP said MJF just doesn’t get it, THEY hurt people, but ever since MJF joined them, it’s all been about me, me, me and his ego and that’s coming from MVP, who gave a thumbs down (seemingly officially booting MJF from The Hurt Syndicate). MVP said out of respect, they’ll leave him healthy so MJF can challenge for the World Title, but he hopes MJF loses his title match. If he wins, that means Bobby Lashley will be coming after him and MVP doesn’t want that. MVP walks off, as MJF, for another week, tells the camera to get out of his face.

**********

-Alicia Atout is backstage with Stokely & FTR, as Dax Harwood said they know what Adam Copeland is doing, but they did this for his expense and his family. Wheeler said they told Stokely he didn’t have to be there next week, but now, they can’t be held responsible for what Stokely does to him. Stokely said he’s injured and calls Copeland a bully and while he’s short, bald and can’t get any hoes, he’s been fighting his whole life. The fight next week in Cincinnati will see Copeland head back home to his wife, who has a head of Micro Brawler (that line had Harwood covering his mouth from laughing, it was a hilarious line) and future juvenile delinquent kids and tell them that Big Stoke pinned him in the ring, just like that, top guys, out.

-Video package on Kazuchika Okada vs. Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door for the Unified Title is shown. Strickland said he needs to have a little conversation, but Okada said talking isn’t necessary and Don Callis said this doesn’t need to be a Street Fight, they’ll keep it between the ropes to show why he’s the best in the world. Okada said this is his house, bitch.

Swerve Strickland Addresses Kazuchika Okada & Forbidden Door

Renee Paquette then welcomed Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana to the stage to talk about Forbidden Door. Strickland said he’s not concerned about the Don Callis Family, as Unified Title rules mean there’s no outside interference. Last year, Strickland put down a good friend at Forbidden Door in Will Ospreay, so what does Okada think Strickland will do to him? All of Okada’s accolades are true, but while some say Okada is a once in a generation talent, there will never be another Swerve Strickland. When Okada stared Strickland in his eye, he saw nothing, while Strickland saw death, as he put the fear of God into Okada. This isn’t a big match for AEW or wrestling world, it’s one for Okada, who has to face the most dangerous man in AEW. It’s also about redemption for Strickland, who has lost twice in London, so it’s time to defeat the Japanese legend, standing over the defeated body of Kazuchika Okada, while Don Callis cries like a little bitch. Everyone will scream and chant as Strickland holds up his new title, Whose House? Swerve’s House.

-Alicia Atout is with Mark Briscoe backstage and said the time for words is behind us, as the day of atonement for MJF is here and it’s time to pay for your sins. Atout said if he wins tonight, it’ll mark his fourth straight main event win and could put him in line for a shot at the AEW World Title. Hangman Adam Page walks in and said they’ve known each other in PWX, ROH, New Japan and AEW and said while he’s always admired Briscoe, it’s what he’s done over the past few years that’s made that respect even stronger. Page hopes that if Briscoe wins, that means he gets a World Title shot, wishes him luck and shakes Briscoe’s hand.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Queen Aminata, who was disappointed she didn’t win the 4-Way tonight when Willow Nightingale came in and gave her a hug. She said they’ll handle business this weekend against with Tay Melo to take on The Triangle of Madness. Kris Statlander came in to hug them all saying it was so great Nightingale showed up for her last week and asked for a speech. Nightingale said Statlander has moved on, but has done everything but that. Nightingale shows up, smiles and straightens up anyone in her way, once Statlander is able to do that, then they can talk. Statlander threw confetti in Nightingale’s face (she’s Randy Savage in Memphis apparently) and ran away. I have no idea if or when the Statlander/Nightingale frenemies thing will resolve, but it’s been a little over a year now, so they need to soon. As convoluted and long as this has been going, they’re still my favorites to win the Women’s Tag Titles, whenever those become a thing.

MJF vs. Mark Briscoe

(You can never cheer against Mark Briscoe and the fans knew that very well, they wanted to see not only him win, but MJF to lose just as much. Unfortunately, neither of those happened and while the finish seemed pretty weak, it does give Briscoe an out for a future rematch, the only person that looked foolish was Bryce Remsberg and of course, MJF would find a way to steal it. I was in the camp of wanting a shock Briscoe win and would’ve loved to see an unexpected Briscoe/Page title match, but they’ve been building MJF/Page, so I wasn’t surprised.)

MJF avoided a Jay Driller, Froggy Bow and dive early, as he went into the crowd and chucked a fans hat until Briscoe brawled with MJF deep into the stands. Back to ringside, Briscoe connected with a neck breaker off the barricade before Briscoe set up a table. Back inside, Briscoe wanted a Froggy Bow, but MJF rolled and pulled referee Bryce in front of him as a shield, allowing him to get an eye poke on Briscoe to gain control and choke away in the corner.

When things return from break, Bryce caught MJF using the ropes during an abdominal stretch and kicked it free, allowing a Briscoe hip toss and for him to fire up. Flying forearm connects, as does an Exploder, while the charging corner boot landed flush, but for the third time, MJF avoided the Froggy Bow, but as he rolled to the floor, Briscoe met him with the Cactus Elbow. Quickly back inside, four times now, MJF avoided Froggy Bow, this time Briscoe flew in with a somersault dive. Briscoe placed MJF on the table, but MJF bailed back to the ring and hit a superkick and Alabama Slam before sinking in a Boston Crab. MJF wanted a Heat Seeker, but Briscoe avoided, tried for a Froggy Bow for the fifth time, but MJF crotched him. MJF wanted the Avalanche Tombstone, but Briscoe thankfully fought free, bit the forehead, sent MJF crashing to the mat and sixth time is the charm, connects with the Froggy Bow for two.

Both battle back out to the floor, where MJF was again placed on the table, but this time, moved, as Briscoe crashed and burned, exploding through the table. MJF demanded Bryce put the count on Briscoe, who was about to break the count, but MJF cut him off with a Heat Seeker. Bryce counted the three, but completely missed the foot on the rope and MJF quickly took it off.

Post-match, MJF continued to beat down Briscoe and put on the Dynamite Diamond Ring, decking Briscoe with it. Hangman Adam Page power walked to the stage and the fight was on, as MJF met him and both had to be pulled apart by security. MJF bailed through the crowd as Page tended to a bloodied Briscoe as MJF was staring them down from the crowd, saying it was Page’s fault. Page bolted into the crowd and the fight picked back up, with Page dropping security as well. Page managed to chuck MJF back to ringside and into the ring and was about to hit a Buckshot, when MJF bailed to end the show.

Match Result: MJF defeated Mark Briscoe

Main event set for next AEW Dynamite

Image: AEW

In a clash that has been building for weeks, former AEW World Champion MJF will take on former ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe in the main event of next Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite from Cleveland, Ohio.

After Briscoe defeated Ricochet in this week’s Dynamite main event, he called out MJF once again who eventually appeared via video. MJF said he talked to Tony Khan and the match would be the main event of next week’s show.

MJF then delivered a sneak attack to Briscoe in the ring before current champion Hangman Page came out for the save. Earlier in the night, MJF was apparently kicked out of The Hurt Syndicate by Shelton Benjamin.

Briscoe and MJF have had their issues for weeks, including at this month’s All In when they were number one and two in the Casino Gauntlet match MJF eventually won to earn an anytime, anywhere World title match.

The two have never squared off in a singles match and have only shared the ring once during that gauntlet match.

The match is the first announced for next Wednesday.

Mark Briscoe: I’ll never have anything I cherish like The Briscoe Brothers

Mark Briscoe recently appeared on Wrestling Observer Radio, where he spoke about the legacy of The Briscoe Brothers.

During his discussion with Dave Meltzer and Garrett Gonzales, Briscoe said that he wants to perform at a high level so fans will seek out his past matches with his brother Jay.

“I never will in my life have anything that I cherish like our tag team career together, me and Jay as The Briscoe Brothers. I could have, whatever, a thousand five star matches and win all the awards. Nothing I could do at this point can scratch the surface of the legacy of the Briscoe Brothers.”

“Part of my mission at this point is to perform at a level where people enjoy what I’m doing and what I’m presenting, and they’ll search out some old Briscoe Brothers stuff because that was the gold.”

Briscoe also discussed the documentary Two in One: The Briscoe Story about him and his brother, and how it addresses the inspiring rehabilitation stories of Jay’s daughters.

“They’re my heroes from now on,” Mark said of Jayleigh and Gracie Pugh. “From now until I head to the grave myself, those two are my heroes.”

“Some people will tell me, ‘Good job, Mark, you’re carrying on for The Briscoes’ and whatever. They are carrying on (for The Briscoes).”

He spoke about how, when doctors told the family that Gracie would never walk again, he was confident they were underestimating her because, of anyone in the family, she is the most like Jay.

“When they passed that news along to all of us, I thought to myself, y’all don’t know Gracie Pugh. Like, y’all do not know Gracie Pugh cause she is Jamin Pugh, aka little Jay Briscoe. That’s just her personality.”

Briscoe added that Gracie is now “back doing back handsprings and tumbling.”
