Former Divas Champion Kaitlyn open to WWE return

Former WWE star Kaitlyn is open to considering a wrestling return.

Kaitlyn told TMZ’s Inside The Ring that she is open to a WWE comeback. She expressed being comfortable and in great shape that is suitable for an in-ring return. While it is not a primary goal, she would not rule out stepping back in a wrestling ring.

“Yeah. So it’s interesting. You know I’m 39. I’ll be 40 in a few months and I’m at the top of my game. I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in. My body feels great. I’m more confident in who I am, my voice than ever before, right? And so I’m open to it. It’s not like okay, this is my number one goal to get back in the WWE ring, but I think that it would make sense.”

Kaitlyn further talked about being emotionally and mentally prepared for what it takes to compete in the ring. Unlike earlier, when she wasn’t matured and evolved to take on the challenges that came along with being a wrestler.

“So, I’m open to it. And in the past, to be honest, when I would be asked in interviews ‘would you ever go back? Do you want to make a comeback?’ I would be like, you know, maybe. But there was always this trepidation internally because I felt like I hadn’t truly processed my WWE experience emotionally, mentally like I think there was this maturation that needed to happen within myself because when I was there again like I was brand new. I debuted without ever having wrestled before and so I was just like a deer in the headlights constantly and I felt like I was just barely hanging on and anytime that I was on television or I had a big match.”

“And so now I just I’m such an evolved person versus who I was then and I just have such a deeper understanding of what pro wrestling is and the artistry of it and the connection with the fans and so I think it would make a lot of sense and I feel like I would do great. I haven’t been in the ring in a while, but you know, some of that stuff comes back pretty easy. And I’m also just smarter with how I would wrestle and who I would be on the show.”

Kaitlyn was associated with WWE from 2010 to 2014. She is best remembered for her feud with AJ Lee in 2013 which centered on their fractured friendship. During her tenure, she also captured the Divas Championship. She returned to compete in the 2018 Mae Young Classic where she was eliminated in the second round.

AJ Lee, Paige and The Bella Twins listed as free agents on WWE roster

AJ Lee, Paige and The Bella Twins have officially been moved to the free agents on the WWE website.

They join Danhausen, Oba Femi and Omos in the free agents section on the WWE roster

Lee returned to WWE in September 2025 after nearly a decade away. She feuded with Becky Lynch and won the Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber this year. The title reign was short-lived when Lynch won back the title at WrestleMania. Following which, Lee cited she was taking time away from WWE but would be back soon.

Nikki Bella made her comeback last year, while Brie officially signed a new deal with the company this year. Nikki’s foot injury omitted her from the fatal four way Women’s Tag Team title match at WrestleMania, which led to Paige stepping up as her replacement.

It also marked Paige’s first WWE match since 2017 after the neck injury that forced her into early retirement. At AEW Full Gear 2023, she competed in the ring for the first time after being medically cleared and stepped back in the ring as a full-time competitor.

Update on AJ Lee’s WWE future after WrestleMania 42

AJ Lee competed in her first WrestleMania match eleven years after being away from WWE.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE has no plans for Lee in the near future as she is done with her current run. Her return is not officially ruled out but Lee will be away from the ring for quite some time. There is no confirmation on the exact duration of the period. However, she could potentially be involved at SummerSlam and other WWE programs later in the year.

At the WrestleMania post-show, Lee got emotional in an interview with Jackie Redmond and cited that she was stepping away from wrestling for a while but would be back soon. She did not cite the reason behind the decision. A couple of days ago, Lee posted a lengthy note on social media, thanking Becky Lynch for the assistance during their feud, and showcased gratitude to the fans who stood by her throughout her career.

Lee returned in September last year after nearly a decade away from WWE and wrestling. Her first match back was a tag team with CM Punk against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. This further escalated into a singles rivalry with Lynch for the Intercontinental Title which she eventually won at Elimination Chamber.

The two had a rematch for the title at WrestleMania 42 where Lynch walked away with the victory.

AJ Lee thanks WWE women’s locker room & fans: ‘See you soon’

Just days after WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada, AJ Lee dropped a parting message for her fans and the WWE locker room.

Following her in-ring return at WrestlePalooza, AJ Lee went on to compete at the women’s WarGames match and later won the Women’s Intercontinental title. However, Lee later lost it to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42.

Sharing a parting and gratitude message on social media, Lee wrote, “Wrestlemania and assorted cuteness from the past eight months part two. Allow me to be sappy and then forget this ever happened. Rebecca, you’re selfless, hilarious, and pure joy to spar with. Thank you for keeping me safe and making me better. Jess, thank you for being a true partner in our matches and always calming my anxiety. Carla and Aoife, I fell in love with wrestling again by seeing it through your eyes,” Lee wrote.

I’m so proud to be a teeny part of your journey. You’re way cooler and more talented than I ever was. But I still have to kick your asses one day. Pam, you’re the undisputed GOAT. Thank you for going out of your way to help me train, to make every show so f’ing fun, and for healing my jaded heart. To all the women in the locker room, I admire and respect you so damn much. You are my wildest dreams for women’s wrestling come true. Thank you for making me feel so welcome and supported and dealing with my obnoxiously loud laugh.”

To my AJ Leegion, my mania entrance was a love letter to you, and to every girl who will become her own superhero. Thank you for supporting me for two decades, selling out my merchandise, giving me record-setting views, and making Converse a small fortune with your AJ cosplay. Your passion kept me coming back. Stay weird, see you soon,” she finished.

Without breaking character, Lynch also joined in and commented, “Flattery will get you everything except an intercontinental title rematch.”

Following her loss at WrestleMania 42, Lee teased moving away from the locker room, and there is currently no confirmed timeline for her comeback.

AJ Lee opens up on her future after WWE WrestleMania 42

AJ Lee has opened up on her WWE future after title loss at WrestleMania 42.

On April 18, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, AJ Lee defended her Women’s Intercontinental title against Becky Lynch. However, thanks to Lynch’s shrewd tactics, Lee lost both the match and her title.

Later, at the WWE WrestleMania 42 post-show, while speaking to Jackie Redmond, Lee opened up about her WrestleMania special entrance and match.

“It’s been my favorite WrestleMania experience so far. Maybe my favorite match so far. Even though I lost it, I got to have my family here. For a lot of them, it was the first time ever, and what I wanted to do with that entrance was represent all the fans who have been with me from day one, who have been wearing my outfits, my shirts, my shorts, and my shoes, and skipping along with me the whole way. That was for you. I love you,” she said.

Lee also opened up about her future. Despite not confirming any upcoming hiatus, Lee left with a “I’ll see you soon” message.

“I never got to say goodbye last time, and I felt bad about that. So this is not goodbye. But I’ll see you soon. I hope.”

She had previously captured the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 and held it for around 49-days, before losing it to Lynch.

WWE WrestleMania 42 notes: Attendance number, Bianca Belair, Gunnar Eudy

Notes from the first night of WrestleMania 42.

Prior to the main event, John Cena announced the official attendance number, noting there was a lot of speculation ahead of the announcement. He announced the number at 50,816. After Biana Belair announced her pregnancy, Cena upped it to 50,817. The attendance numbers for this year’s WrestleMania have been a source of speculation as ticket sales have stalled compared to last year’s number, enough for it to become a focal point in WWE’s WrestleMania build.

Bianca Belair wrote following her announcement: “This means the world to me.”

Rhea Ripley wrote: “I’m in f’n tears!! Congratulations @BiancaBelairWWE & @MontezFordWWE selfishly I don’t wanna lose you for another year… but this is also the sweetest most heart warming news ever!! Love you guys!!!”

AJ Lee lost the Women’s Intercontinental title on Saturday, losing to Becky Lynch after being shoved face first into a thunbuckle. After the match, social media footage showed CM Punk handing Lee flowers.

WWE held their usual Hall of Fame roll call during the show. Notably, the families of Legacy inductees Bad News Brown and Psycho Sid were part of the roll call. Gunnar Eudy, who was critical of the way his father was presented earlier on Saturday in a social media message, was there in attendance.

Eudy had called the ceremony “straight up disappointing” and “disrespectful as hell.”

Ted DiBiase Jr. was in attendance at WrestleMania, joined by his lead defense attorney Scott Gilbert. He credited Gilbert as “saving his life,” referring to his trial regarding misuse of Mississippi welfare funds where he was recently found not guilty. DiBiase noted that Gilbert is now running for judge in Rankin & Madison County, Mississippi.

WWE’s AJ Lee does not want celebrities in wrestling

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee does not want to see celebrities in wrestling.

For years now, celebrities have been a part of WWE and WrestleMania. From Mr.T headlining the first WrestleMania to Snoop Dogg, Johnny Knoxville, Rob Gronkowski, Mike Tyson, and many others appearing in the later editions.

Recently speaking on Complex’s GOAT Talk, AJ Lee was asked about the celebrity she wanted to see in the ring. However, dismissing the question, Lee joked and answered, “No one!

CM Punk soon opened up and claimed, “Bad Bunny was a spectacular pro wrestler. This is the biggest, most recognized global pop star in the world, and he’s a fan, and he doesn’t want to just come and goof around. He took it seriously and did it.

Sharing a similar answer to her husband, Lee also displayed her support for Bad Bunny. “I have to support Bad Bunny, but other than Bad Bunny, my answer remains no one.”

A few years ago, Bad Bunny made his WWE debut at WrestleMania 37 in a tag team match with Damian Priest, and later also competed in the 2022 Royal Rumble and a San Juan Street Fight against Priest in 2023.

This year’s WrestleMania feud between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton saw Pat McAfee get involved and attract major criticism toward it.

AJ Lee opens up about ‘very surreal’ WWE return

AJ Lee recalls the role fans played in her decision to return to WWE and wrestling, while opening up on working with the generation of talents she inspired during her career.

In an exclusive interview on The Takedown on SI, Lee discussed the fans’ appreciation and support that fueled her WWE return. When meet-and-greets were hosted as part of her other ventures, the long queues made her realize the impact she had on the wrestling community.

“I knew that coming back was the right decision because of my fans,” stated Lee.

“I was getting these lines that were legitimately seven hours long and that’s when I realized, ‘oh, they’re still here’. There’s still this hunger here. This support that only comes with wrestling. It only comes with this really loyal fanbase who watched me from day one, were a part of the mission statement of underdogs for the win and stuck with me, and were waiting for me to come back. And… to be able to give them a title run and a Mania match, has been incredibly meaningful.”

Lee also talked about the impact she left behind on the women’s division following her exit in 2015. She emphasized its importance to her while competing alongside them on the roster today.

“It’s kind of like being at your own funeral a little bit,” Lee said with a laugh. “Everyone has something really nice to say about how I helped them in their career, and it’s just meaningful and very surreal and cool.”

“I know who I am. I know what I’ve done. I can walk into this place with a new kind of confidence and a calmness of just being a grown-ass woman. And there is a different level to performing that way, with that mindset of, yeah, I know what I can do. And so it makes it a little bit more fun. I get to really just enjoy and soak up the moments versus feeling like you were scrapping every day back then.”

Lee joined her husband CM Punk in his rivalry against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch in September 2025. That led to a feud with Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Lee defeated Lynch to capture her first singles WWE title in over a decade at Elimination Chamber.

On the March 23 edition of Raw, Lee issued a challenge for a rematch on Night One of WrestleMania 42. Lynch happily accepted citing it was a part of her masterplan to provoke the move. The bout will also mark Lee’s first WrestleMania match since the 31st edition of the PLE.

AJ Lee ‘unhealthily invested’ in WWE women’s division feud

AJ Lee has her sights set on multiple talents from the women’s division who have cemented their spot during her time away. The latest rivalry that has caught her attention is between The Kabuki Warriors and IYO SKY.

Lee took to social media that she had been fangirling over their feud for months.

“been fangirling for @WWEAsuka @KAIRI_official @Iyo_SkyWWE for months and I am unhealthily invested in this now,” posted Lee.

The rift between The Kabuki Warriors and IYO SKY grew wider in the second half of 2025. Asuka snapped on a September edition of Raw when Sky assisted Rhea Ripley, who was her original target. Asuka and Kairi Sane attacked Sky too. In the months that followed, the two tag teams clashed repeatedly in the ring. Asuka frequently reminded SKY of her sacrifices and efforts in their friendship.

With their rivalry brewing for a long while now and WrestleMania 42 around the corner, their match has reached a conundrum. Earlier this week we reported the reason for the delay in WWE announcing Asuka vs. SKY for the Premium Live Event. It is directly linked to the Women’s Tag Team Championship match.

Nia Jax & Lash Legend are set to defend the titles against Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, and The Bella Twins. However, Nikki Bella suffered a foot injury on SmackDown last month. If she is not cleared to compete at WrestleMania 42, WWE intends to add The Kabuki Warriors as replacement.

Meanwhile, Lee will compete in her first WrestleMania match in a decade as she defends the Intercontinental Title in a rematch against Becky Lynch.

AJ Lee details WWE backstage dynamic with CM Punk

Being able to work with her husband is a “very comforting” experience for AJ Lee.

After a decade away, Lee came out of retirement last year and is now set to compete in her first WrestleMania since 2015. She and her husband CM Punk are both entering the show as champions, with Lee holding the Women’s Intercontinental title and Punk being World Heavyweight Champion.

Lee spoke with US Weekly ahead of Mania and detailed what it’s been like to be on the road with Punk.

“It’s interesting because we weren’t married the last time,” Lee said. “It’s just bizarre. I was wrestling for maybe a year during the marriage. So this is the first time on the road as a married couple. It is so nice to be able to bring home with you. It’s all very calm. I can always find him at catering or see him in the halls. That’s very, very comforting to me.

“A wonderful thing is to be able to admire your spouse. I get to admire how well he’s doing and how respected he is and how much fun he’s having. That’s a blast.”

Lee has been feuding with Becky Lynch since returning last year. Their Women’s Intercontinental Championship match will take place on night one of WrestleMania on Saturday, April 18. Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship will then headline night two.

When Lee returned to WWE in September 2025, her first match back was a mixed tag bout with Punk. Teaming together with his wife is something Punk hopes to do more of in the future.

Maxxine Dupri pitches her ‘dream’ addition to WWE WrestleMania 42 title match

Maxxine Dupri wants to be added to the Women’s Intercontinental title match between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch at WWE WrestleMania 42, something she said is her dream.

In an interview with Brad Gilmore on The Collection podcast, Dupri cited that if given the opportunity, she would make the title match at triple threat at next month’s two night event in Las Vegas.

“If I could write it right now, I would turn that Women’s Intercontinental championship match between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch into a triple threat. That would be my dream.”

Since her WWE return in 2025, Lee mentored and guided Dupri.

“To share the ring with AJ Lee would be unbelievable. She’s been such a wonderful mentor to me since returning to our locker room. It’s been so special. And, I have got a few hits I’d like to lay on Becky. I’ve got some pent-up aggression that I would like to unleash.”

Dupri defeated Lynch in November last year to win the Women’s Intercontinental title, but that wasn’t without help from Lee whose appearance was a distraction for Lynch.

Lynch was the focal point for Lee’s return in September 2025, nearly a decade after her exit. At Elimination Chamber, Lee ended Lynch’s second reign as champion.

On the March 23 edition of Raw, Lee challenged for a rematch for the title at WrestleMania 42 as Lynch confessed it to be a part of her plan all along.

Women’s Intercontinental title match set for WWE WrestleMania 42

A match for the Women’s Intercontinental title has been made for WrestleMania.

Becky Lynch and AJ Lee agreed to square off at WrestleMania 42 following a segment on Raw that saw them exchange their latest war of words. Lynch opened the segment by blaming the fans for getting tired of seeing her succeed. She explained that she went home and came back and made the Intercontineal title the most interesting title in all of wrestling. She then began taking shots at AJ, saying her greatest claim to fame was mastering the Divas era

“Well, I murdered the Diva’s era,” Lynch decalred.

Lee came out as Lynch bailed to the crowd. The Women’s Intercontinental Champion said that she figured Lynch wanted to get embarassed again and challenged her to a match at WrestleMania, with Lee saying she wanted to tap Lynch out on the biggest stage of them all. Lynch responded by saying Lee fell right into her trap. Eleven years ago, Lee walked into the office the day after WrestleMania and handed in her resignation. At WrestleMania, she’ll save her the trouble by ending her.

The two have been feuding since last fall, with Lee winning every major match the two were in. She defeated Lynch at Elimination Chamber last month to win the Intercontinental title for the first time.

Indie wrestler reacts to AJ Lee saying she should be in WWE

Jazmin Allure recently reacted to AJ Lee’s comments saying she should be in WWE.

Lee, who previously mentored Allure in Women of Wrestling (WOW), praised her work ethic in a recent interview. Speaking with Simply Reliable Studios, Allure said she appreciated the Women’s Intercontinental Champion taking the time to acknowledge her in-ring skills.

“That was so incredible. Like I said, she didn’t have to do that. She’s champion right now, she’s killing it on TV. She has so many projects going on, and the fact that she took a little bit of her time to put me over and talk so good about me and say that I should be in WWE is incredible.

“She really is like a godmother to me. I love that, even throughout the years, I can reach out to her and talk to her. I just saw her this past weekend, it was so good to catch up. She’s incredible, she’s such a nice person. You know, whenever they say, ‘Don’t meet your idols’. She’s truly one of the most amazing people in this business. And it’s just so incredible.”

Allure previously competed on AEW and Women of Wrestling (WOW). Lee mentored Allure at WOW when she worked with the promotion from 2021 to 2023 as executive producer and commentator.

Lee returned to WWE in September 2025 after 10 years. She teamed up with husband, CM Punk to take on Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. This escalated into a singles feud with Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, a title she eventually won at Elimination Chamber last month.

Bayley reflects on WWE Raw match with AJ Lee

Bayley is reflecting on her match with AJ Lee.

On social media, the former Women’s Champion shared her thoughts on Lee and the match itself, writing that Lee has a special impact on the industry because of who she is outside of it.

“But if I never had the conversation with AJ back in 2013 where she told me to stay true to who I am, I don’t know if I would’ve made it this far. I don’t even know if I would’ve made it past my first month in NXT. So, losing the match sucks. But sharing the ring again with someone who saw me for who I was, uplifted me, believed in me, and has supported me ever since, that was the magic,” she wrote.

“@theajmendez, you are NEVER….and I want you to read this carefully and really focus…..you are never allowed to leave,” she continued. “We must giggle together at the monitor til we have to really break out our walkers.”

The two wrestled for the first time in over a decade on Monday, with Lee defeating Bayley to retain the Women’s Intercontinental title. It continued a story of Bayley coming up short as WrestleMania draws near, leaving her without many avenues to take in order to get to Las Vegas. Following the loss her tag team partner Lyra Valkyria consoled her, saying they would find a way to get there together.

WWE Raw live results: Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar appear

Date: March 16, 2026
Location: Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX

The Big Takeaway —

For the third straight week, Raw concluded with a talking segment to build the CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns match. Feuds are meant to build as they go, but this was the least interesting segment so far.

On the positive side, Oba Femi laid out Brock Lesnar, and the two men will face off at WrestleMania.

Show Recap —

CM Punk and AJ Lee, Maxxine Dupri (with Alpha Academy), Judgment Day, and Stephanie Vaquer were shown at the arena earlier today.

Lucky us, over a dozen masked men swarmed ringside, led by Seth Rollins, who entered the ring. (Even Michael Cole stated, “Not this again.”) Rollins initially wore a mask, but removed it once he entered.

Rollins said he created the Vision, and he would be the one to kill it. He didn’t care if you were on the shelf like Bron Breakker, or a hanger-on like Austin Theory and Logan Paul—if you stood next to Paul Heyman, you should consider yourself marked for death. (That was a hint for what was coming.)

Rollins mentioned that he had the satisfaction of wrapping a chair around Heyman and stomping his fat head on the mat. At that point, a very dishevelled Heyman walked on to the stage.

The San Antonio crowd chanted, “F—k you, Heyman.” Rollins said he made a lot of mistakes in his life, but letting Heyman into his inner circle was the worst one. Rollins would make Heyman pay for his betrayal every day until he was gone from the business. Rollins would cut him out like the cancer he was.

Heyman said Rollins F’d with him, so he would F with Rollins. He repeated, “F.A.F.O.” until he ended with “F5.”

Brock Lesnar entered. Five masked men entered the ring to protect the babyface Rollins, while the others guarded ringside. Lesnar suplexed a bunch of them and shrieked at a handful of others who all ran to safety. Lesnar suplexed and F5’d the remaining masked men who greeted him in the ring. After Lesnar disposed of them, he faced off with Rollins.

However, the lights went out, and Oba Femi entered. Lesnar backed into a corner with his guard up as Rollins gleefully watched on. After Femi entered the ring, Rollins slowly walked up beside Lesnar, but he bailed from the ring when Lesnar turned his attention to him.

With Rollins out of the ring, Lesnar turned to Femi, but Femi hoisted him up and nailed him with a sit-out powerbomb. The crowd went nuts for this spot, and Cole yelled, “Holy sh-t!” (which was censored). Femi put his boot on Lesnar’s chest and pointed at the sign.

(Femi came across great here. He was cheered in his entrance, when he laid out Lesnar, and when he pointed at the sign. Veteran viewers would know that Lesnar is more than happy to sell for people when necessary, and he sold big time here for Femi.

However, everything else with Rollins was so stupid. I don’t know why he’s hiding in the shadows if he isn’t fired or suspended. He could just come out to his music like a normal person. He also hid behind all the masked men and bailed from the ring when confronted by Lesnar. Maybe we’ll find out Femi’s involvement here was all part of Rollins’ master plan, but he still comes across like a coward.)

There was a replay of El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) winning the Rey del Reyes fatal four-way match, thanks in part to interference by Rayo and Bravo, who handcuffed Original Americano (Chad Gable) to a railing in the crowd. Kaiser was wildly cheered when he won. They would not get that kind of reaction tonight.

El Grande Americano (w/ Bravo & Rayo Americano) vs. Original El Grande Americano

Cole said this was their first singles match, which isn’t true when you consider their actual identities.

This followed the usual pattern. After a break, Gable had the match won, but Bravo and Rayo distracted the referee. As Gable dealt with Rayo outside the ring, Bravo placed a metal plate in Kaiser’s mask while the ref was distracted. Gable hit a diving headbutt, but he hit Kaiser’s loaded mask and was knocked out, so Kaiser rolled into a cover for the win.

They used a close-up angle when Gable executed the headbutt, and it showed that he completely missed, so the finish stunk. This whole thing stinks.

Match result: El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) defeated Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) (9:55)

********

Today is 3:16 Day, so Cole announced that WrestleMania tickets are 31.6% off today.

Roman Reigns arrived, and he was approached by Jimmy and Jey Uso. Reigns was happy about how they handled Punk last week. Reigns looked into the camera and told his whole family that they all should be offended by what Punk said about his father. He invited the family and cousins to deal with Punk before and after Mania, but on that weekend, Punk belonged to him.

********

Danhausen handed out t-shirts during a break. Cole announced a sold-out crowd of 15,236.

Liv Morgan promo

There was a video package of Judgment Day turning on Finn Bálor. They censored the word “prick” again.

Liv Morgan cut a pre-taped promo on Bálor. She said this was her plan since she joined Judgment Day. Bálor was never in charge. He was on borrowed time and just didn’t know it. Morgan knew when Bálor was lying and scheming, and it was a pleasure watching him fall from grace.

Bálor couldn’t hang with them anymore because he got soft. He was a pathetic, washed-up loser. They took a page right out of his playbook when they laid him out. JD McDonagh was finally free from Bálor holding him back. Daddy Dom was still AAA Mega Champion and would regain his Intercontinental Championship.

Raquel Rodriguez was a future champion, and at WrestleMania, Morgan would be the new Women’s World Champion. Morgan didn’t hide behind her family’s back like Vaquer claimed—they had her back. Without Finn, they were better than ever.

********

The Usos were with Reigns in the locker room. Jey was surprised that Reigns didn’t drop Punk after he said what he said. Jimmy brought up Punk’s comment about Reigns being a part-timer.

Reigns said that none of them saw their fathers much when they were kids. But with his kids, it would be different. The whole world could call him a part-timer if they wanted, he didn’t care. As long as his wife and kids knew he was a full-time father. That was his legacy. That was the biggest flex any superstar could ever say.

Jimmy was happy to hear this, but Jey still wanted an apology from Punk. Reigns said he didn’t need an apology, but thought the Usos did, so he said he would go get them one. Reigns said, “I mean, what’s the worst that can happen, CM Punk beat me up?” They all laughed at this, and Reigns left.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Bayley

After a break, Lee hit a bulldog counter and a standing sliced bread, but Bayley responded with a single leg crab and knee strike. Bayley yanked Lee off the top rope and hit a Bayley-to-belly for a nearfall. They traded strikes until Lee hit a shining wizard. Bayley countered a Black Widow with a side slam and went for a flying elbow drop, but Lee moved out of the way. Lee applied the Black Widow, and Bayley tapped out.

— Bayley hugged Lee during commercials.

Match result: AJ Lee defeated Bayley to retain the Women’s Intercontinental Championship (10:40)

This was ok. It was laid out well enough, and the crowd got into Lee prevailing in the end.

*******

In the back, McDonagh yelled at Adam Pearce for giving away Dom’s IC title match. Pearce said he didn’t give it away—Dom wasn’t cleared. As they argued, Penta appeared, and the production team suddenly cut the background crowd noise. Penta did his pose in McDonagh’s face and thanked Pearce. Penta walked away, and they turned the crowd noise back on. That was weird.

Becky Lynch attacks AJ Lee

AJ Lee continued to celebrate during commercials. As they returned from break, Becky Lynch attacked her from behind. Lynch tossed her into the barricades and booted her repeatedly. The highlight of this was a young fan trying to reason with Lynch, and Lynch screaming at her in response. The little girl held her hand up as if to tell Lynch to calm down. As officials checked on Lee, Lynch decked her with the IC title belt.

********

Penta entered to a good response. He wanted to be a fighting champion and told Pearce to pick anyone, because he would always be ready. Penta continued in Spanish, and fans chanted his name. He advised his opponent to be ready.

Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Dragon Lee

They started with a handshake. They went back-and-forth early on until Dragon Lee hit a flip dive, but Penta came right back with one of his own. After a break, they traded chops and strikes until Penta planted Dragon with a superkick. Dragon hit a superkick of his own and a Styles Clash for a two count. Penta followed with a Penta Driver for two.

With Dragon on the apron, Penta tried a leaping spearingboard move, but Dragon caught him with a mid-air superkick. With Penta seated on the announce table, Dragon hit an awesome-looking suicide flip dive, knocking them both over the table. Dragon followed with Operation Dragon in the ring for a nearfall.

Dragon went for a hidden blade, but Penta ducked and hit a crazy Canadian Destroyer for the pinfall win. (They went so fast on the Destroyer, Dragon popped to his feet, bounced off the ropes and collapsed.)

Match result: Penta defeated Dragon Lee to retain the Intercontinental Championship (12:40)

This was fun, and the last few minutes were particularly great.

********

Theory and Paul approached Heyman backstage. Theory said Lesnar would take care of Femi, while they would take care of Rollins. Heyman said that was the worst thing they could do. Rollins’ game plan was divide and conquer. It was the art of distraction.

Heyman said Rollins hit him with a chair and curb-stomped him, but Rollins received no punishment because the Vision had no more power. They needed titles (championships). He said they needed to win the tag titles from The Usos, and then he could position them to get singles titles. Their focus should be The Usos.

Theory and Paul were on board with this. Paul also planned on getting LA Knight.

********

Maxxine Dupri vs. Nattie

Dupri hit a fireman’s suplex and showed aggression by dropping her straps and hitting an elevated leg drop. Nattie kicked out, and Dupri acted shocked that a leg drop would only yield a two count. Nattie came back with a discus clothesline and a Sharpshooter for the submission win.

Match result: Nattie defeated Maxxine Dupri (4:17)

This was nothing, and the fans did not care.

Randy Orton interview

They advertised throughout the night that Cole would interview Randy Orton. They cut to the announcers, and Cole introduced Orton, who appeared on the screen via a very grainy, low-quality video.

Orton was on the phone with someone, so Cole and the audience had to wait. Orton told this mystery person he was happy to see them a couple of weeks ago, and agreed with them that it was about time for him to do what he did (turn heel). He told the person he appreciated what they were doing, but told them he had to get to the interview.

Orton told Cole that he had changed his mind. He wasn’t doing an interview tonight. Orton said he had a conversation with someone who had a brain. They said something profound to him. Something that made him think about his life. Something that made him think about who he was and what he was. They made him understand why he did what he did to Cody Rhodes.

Orton told Cole, “I’m a killer,” and “wrestling has more than one royal family.” The feed cut.

Orton will be on Friday’s SmackDown.

Je’Von Evan approached Dragon Lee backstage. Evans was excited about Dragon’s performance earlier, but they were interrupted by Kofi Kingston. Kingston was less friendly than he was last week. He said there were people on this roster who could lift Evans up, while others were “Dragon” (dragging) him down. Evans gave Kingston an answer: “No.” Evans left.

Grayson Waller told Kingston he didn’t know what he saw in Evans. Kingston heard people say that about Waller.

Kingston and Waller were accosted by Danhausen, who proposed the idea of him replacing Xavier Woods. Danhausen mentioned Booty O’s, and they reminded him that Booty O’s were from ten years ago. They declined.

Danhausen didn’t appreciate being turned down, so he put his curse. He was about to point at Kingston, but Kingston quickly dodged behind Waller, so Waller wound up cursed. Danhausen vanished.

(Evans, by the way, has not wrestled since Elimination Chamber last month. That’s if you exclude one Main Event match against Dragon Lee. Incidentally, they hinted at Evans and Lee becoming a team.)

Non-title match: Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer vs. Raquel Rodriguez (w/ Liv Morgan)

Vaquer went on offence, but distracted herself by peering at Morgan, who was just standing there. That allowed Rodriguez to grab her and lawn-dart her into the ring post. Vaquer fought back after a break and hit Devil’s Kiss.

Morgan leaped onto the apron, so Iyo Sky ran out to her music to chase away Morgan. Sky’s help went for naught as Rodriguez tackled her over the announce table. (That was all for Sky tonight.) Vaquer dove off the apron to wipe out Rodriguez before chucking Morgan into the timekeeper’s area.

Back in the ring, Rodriguez went for a Tejana Bomb, but Vaquer countered into a cradle for the pinfall win.

Match result: Stephanie Vaquer defeated Raquel Rodriguez (10:10)

I would have liked to see a more decisive win from Vaquer here. Rodriguez has improved a lot, and they clearly want to protect her, but that wasn’t necessary here against the world champion.

Bayley loudly complained to Lyra Valkyria backstage, so Valkyria loudly told her to stop yelling at her. Valkyria said she wanted to see Bayley get to WrestleMania more than anything, and that they would do it together. They were approached by Asuka and Kairi Sane. Asuka blamed them for costing her a shot at the IC title, and she would never forget. She left.

(Theory checked on Dupri in the background of this segment.)

Official for WrestleMania: Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar.

Next week on Raw in Boston:

  • Brock Lesnar appears
  • The Usos vs. Austin Theory & Logan Paul

(I don’t think they said if next week’s match would be for the tag titles or not.)

LA Knight approached Jimmy and Jey backstage. Knight asked about them getting cozy with Roman Reigns again. Jimmy said it was family business. Jey told him to mind his business.

Knight said no. He could appreciate family business, but he could not appreciate the Bloodline coming back. The three of them were on the same page regarding the Vision, but he could not be on the same page if that meant the return of the Bloodline. Knight bumped fists with Jimmy, but Jey did not return the favour.

Roman Reigns and CM Punk main event segment

Reigns told San Antonio to acknowledge him. They did. They chanted “OTC,” and Reigns said “they” could hear that backstage. They (Punk) knew whose show this was. Reigns was in the beginning, the middle, and the end. Reigns said the fans should forgive Phil for getting confused and thinking this was his show.

Reigns invited Phil to the ring. Punk entered. Reigns greeted him by saying, “Welcome to my ring. Welcome to my main event.”

Punk said Reigns kept using his government name like it was meant to be an insult. His friends and family were allowed to Phil. Maybe Punk would call Reigns ‘Titty Tiaki’ or whatever his real name was, but Punk didn’t obsess over him or read his Wikipedia page. Punk certainly wouldn’t call him “Joe” because that would be insulting to a real Samoan, whom he loved very much. Reigns suggested he call Joe, who would remind him who his Tribal Chief was.

Punk heard Reigns earlier say he was sending all the Samoans after him. Reigns said he was only telling them to do what they gotta do. Punk said the only thing they would do is high-five him. Just like everyone in San Antonio was. Punk said it felt great to be alive on a Monday Night in San Antonio, and the fans chanted his name, but they followed soon after by signing Reigns’ name.

Punk was surprised that Reigns hadn’t taken a swing at him yet. Reigns said he wasn’t surprised to hear that, because he was on everyone’s mind all the time. They were in the main event, but the truth was, Punk on his own hasn’t main evented anything all year, not even the European tour.

Punk said he called for Reigns last week, but he was too chickenshit to show up, so he sent his cousins instead. Punk was a habitual line stepper, which is why the fans loved him, and Reigns didn’t. Jimmy and Jey handled their business last week. Punk admitted he deserved it. It was the right message, but the wrong messenger. Punk wondered who the real Tribal Chief was.

Reigns wasn’t impressed and asked the fans if this (Punk’s promo) was really what they cheer for. Reigns has heard these Tribal Chief accusations for five years. Reigns called Punk trite and redundant. He mentioned Punk calling him a part-timer, but Reigns advised him to talk to the real top players about that, including his wife. Reigns told him to stop wasting his time until he came up with something that actually fazed him.

Reigns went to leave the ring, but Punk blocked him. Reigns tried to go around him, so Punk left the ring to cut him off. Punk said it was his show, and it wasn’t time to go yet. Punk said WrestleMania would be Reigns’ last main event. Punk would hoist him up over his beautiful head of hair, bring him crashing back down to earth, drop him on his knee and split his ego in two on the grandest stage of them all.

Reigns called him delusional. Punk was great on the mic and at the mental games, but he couldn’t faze him. Reigns was the most successful superstar Punk has ever faced. When the talking was done, Punk couldn’t do the walking. Punk wasn’t stronger than him or faster than him. The title around Punk’s waist was an embarrassment. Punk was a try-hard who made the rest of them look terrible, “because at the end of the day, you’re old.”

That was enough to set off Punk, who dropped Reigns with a right hand. Officials ran down to settle down Punk, as Reigns looked up and laughed at him. They got Punk out of the ring as the show ended.

(As mentioned above, this wasn’t terribly interesting. Not all of these segments need to be home runs, but they kind of do when they insist on main-eventing the show with it. Reigns went on about Punk being trite and redundant, but Reigns himself repeatedly said the same stuff about being the real reason they were in the main event, and used the trite “your wife” remark.)
