International title match announced for AEW Collision

On AEW Collision this Saturday night, Konosuke Takeshita will make the first defense of his International Championship reign.

Takeshita became a two-time International Champion when he defeated Kazuchika Okada for the belt at Double or Nothing. Less than a week into his reign, Takeshita is set to defend against Daniel Garcia on Collision. The match was announced by Tony Khan on social media today.

“After The Alpha regained the International belt at #AEWDoN, Takeshita will collide vs former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia in a big title fight TOMORROW!,” Khan wrote.

Though Garcia is his first challenger, Takeshita is locked into a feud with Kyle Fletcher after the returning Fletcher targeted him at Double or Nothing. Takeshita, now a babyface, has linked up with The Conglomeration against his former faction mates in the Don Callis Family.

A Trios Championship match with The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) defending against Don Callis Family’s Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta & Lance Archer is among the other matches set for Saturday’s Collision. The show is being held at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

AEW’s Daniel Garcia & El Clon to appear on upcoming CMLL shows

Members of warring factions on AEW, Daniel Garcia and El Clon are scheduled to appear on two CMLL shows this month.

On the latest edition of CMLL Informa, it was announced that Garcia and Clon will appear on CMLL’s shows this Saturday and this Sunday.

A member of the Death Riders, Garcia was in action on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite alongside Clark Connors in a loss to Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong. Garcia made his CMLL debut last November, appearing on two shows. In one, he and Wheeler Yuta unsuccessfully challenged for the CMLL Tag Team titles and on the other, he, Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli picked up a trios victory.

For the 34-year-old Don Callis Family member, the appearance has added significance as it will mark his CMLL debut. The longtime luchador, formerly known as Arez, worked for AAA in 2015 and again consistently from 2018 through January 2024.

TNT Championship match announced for AEW Collision Winter is Coming

All Elite Wrestling has officially announced an upcoming TNT title match for Collision Winter is Coming.

A couple of weeks ago, Mark Briscoe defeated Kyle Fletcher to crown himself the new TNT Champion. Just days into his title reign, he is now scheduled to defend the title against Daniel Garcia. Tonight, on the December 3rd episode of Dynamite, Mark Briscoe appeared in a backstage segment and reflected on his history with Garcia, before announcing his upcoming title defense.

Briscoe revealed that he spoke with AEW President Tony Khan and arranged a TNT Title match against Daniel Garcia for the December 13th edition of Collision: Winter Is Coming. Next week’s special episode will take place in Cardiff, Wales, as part of AEW’s upcoming UK tour.

Next week, Samoa Joe is also set to defend his World Championship against Eddie Kingston on Dynamite Winter is Coming.

With little over a week left for next week’s Collision Winter is Coming, All Elite Wrestling has not yet updated the full lineup for the show. Here are the two confirmed matches set to take place at Collision Winter is Coming on December 13th in Cardiff, Wales.

  • Jamie Hayter & Kris Statlander vs. Sisters Of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue)

Daniel Garcia shares video of fan reaction after CMLL event

The Death Riders have CMLL fans all worked up.

Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli wrestled on both Friday’s show at Arena Mexico and Saturday’s at Arena Coliseo. Following Saturday’s event, Garcia posted a video of what appears to be a group of fans mobbing him as he is attempting to leave the venue.

Castagnoli defeated Ultimo Guerrero for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship on Friday’s show. Yuta and Garcia lost a CMLL Tag Team Title match that night to Los Hermanos Chavez. On Saturday’s show, Castagnoli, Garcia, and Yuta defeated Guerrero, Difunto, and Esfinge in the main event.

The Death Riders’ weekend in CMLL was discussed by our own Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer said of Castagnoli’s match against Guerrero, “It was really something to see. If you like old school wrestling, and old school crowds, and the old territory days world champion match, like a Harley Race match, this was it. It was really a throwback, really fun for me to watch.”

Trios match added to AEW Collision lineup

The Death Riders will be in action on Saturday’s AEW Collision with new member Daniel Garcia ready to make a splash.

In a match announced Friday night, former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley teams with Garcia and Claudio Castagnoli against Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong along with Matt Menard. “Daddy Magic” is a former partner of Garcia’s and isn’t happy with the direction his now-former friend has taken.

The Moxley-led group was run off by Darby Allin and his flamethrower on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite after AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander emphatically denied their offer to join the group.

Moxley, Garcia and Castagnoli will face AEW World Champion Hangman Page, Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

New matches added to AEW All Out Tailgate Brawl pre-show

Two new matches have been added to the Tailgate Brawl pre-show airing prior to Saturday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view on HBO Max/TNT.

Announced during Wednesday’s September to Remember edition of Dynamite, Daniel Garcia will take on Katsuyori Shibata for the third time.

It came about via separate backstage promos from reigning AEW Trios Champions The Opps and former champions The Death Riders accompanied by Garcia. Samoa Joe, Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs took umbrage with Garcia’s move to the Jon Moxley-led group with Garcia saying if they had an issue, they could come see him Saturday.

The two squared off at 2023’s ROH Death Before Dishonor with Shibata successfully defending his then-Pure title. They rematched in AEW this past January on Collision with Garcia successfully defending his then-TNT title.

Also announced were Joe and Hobbs taking on The Workhorsemen’s JD Drake and Anthony Henry.

The show begins at 2 PM Eastern with the PPV kicking off at 3 PM Eastern from Toronto, Canada. A separate Zero Hour show with no matches will air per usual on YouTube and other outlets.

AEW Collision live results: Unified title tournament begins, MJF appearance

A mini-tournament to determine a three-way Unified title match at next Saturday’s AEW All Out begins on tonight’s Collision from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

Reigning Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada will defend against Michael Oku who is making his AEW TV debut. Okada must win in order to move on to All Out.

Fellow Don Callis Family member Konosuke Takeshita will take on Anthony Bowens in another qualifier.

Mark Briscoe will be on the show to issue his stipulations to MJF for their All Out clash. MJF will also be in attendance to respond.

After Daniel Garcia appeared to join the Death Riders, he and Jon Moxley will take on Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong.

In another $500,000 ten-person tag team match, Jamie Hayter, Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander will take on Skye Blue, Megan Bayne, Penelope Ford, Thekla and Julia Hart.

FTR will battle Tommy Billington and Adam Priest in a rematch from last Saturday.

Ian Riccaboni was in the ring, and introduced MJF. MJF said that since Briscoe cost him his world title at Forbidden Door, MJF cost Briscoe his title shot last week on Collision. MJF claimed that he was born superior to Briscoe, who was mediocre from birth, and that was why he had no trouble letting Briscoe pick the stipulation, because no matter how hard it works, it won’t change anything, and the white-collar MJF will beat the blue-collar Mark Briscoe.

Briscoe responded on the screen, thanking MJF, because Briscoe was just as excited as he was waiting for Santa as a kid, because he got to pick the stipulations for their match. Briscoe said he wanted tables and thumbtacks in their match, a TNT match, at All Out. Briscoe said he had a wedding present for MJF, and told him to turn around, and Briscoe attacked from behind as it was a pretaped promo. Briscoe poured thumbtacks in the middle of the ring and went for the Jay Driller, but MJF escaped. Briscoe blew his nose on MJF’s scarf as the segment ended.

I think there was a missed chance to have the contract for a world title shot on the line in this match, since MJF offered him a stipulation of his choosing. Maybe they will add that later, but I would prefer this match have some stakes rather than just a grudge match, and MJF can afford to lose that title shot.

–A recap video aired of Daniel Garcia joining the Death Riders on Dynamite.

–Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Hologram were conglomerating backstage, and O’Reilly commented that he got a call from Adam Cole, and Cole said that he was disgusted that he ever called Garcia a friend. Strong seemed upset that O’Reilly got a call from Cole, but said since Garcia made his best friend angry, he was going to beat Garcia up, and beat Moxley up for fun.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) vs. Anthony Bowens

Bowens hit some chops, but Takeshita raked the eyes and hit a flying European uppercut. Bowens responded with a unique neckbreaker that looked really cool. Bowens hit a dragon screw in the ropes, forcing Takeshita to the apron. Takeshita got sent into the ring post by Bowens, and he flew to the floor. Bowens hit a flying crossbody off the top ropes to the floor on Takeshita.

Bowens hit some strikes as they came back from the break, but Takeshita hit a poisonrana and Bowens popped up and hit a fameasser for a 2-count. Bowens went to the top rope and Takeshita cut him off, but Bowens slipped out, kicked the legs out from under Takeshita and hit a swinging DDT from the middle ropes on Takeshita for a 2-count.

Takeshita hit a uranage, but Bowens got up, superkicked the arms, and hit a slam of his own, followed by a Mollywhop that sent Takeshita to the ground. As Bowens brought Takeshita back into the ring, Takeshita hit a blue thunder bomb, a running knee, and the Raging Fire for the pinfall.

Result: Konosuke Takeshita

Excellent opening match tonight between these two. One of the best matches of Bowens career, at least when it comes to singles matches.

–Mascara Dorada had a promo video where he talked about how he was going to be the one that represents CMLL and lucha libre at AEW All Out when he beats the Beast Mortos and advances to face Takeshita and the winner of Kazuchika Okada and Michael Oku.

–A hype video for Riho and Mercedes Mone aired, with Mone doing the voice over for the video, saying that while Riho was the first ever AEW Women’s World Champion, she would not be the next TBS Champion.

–While the entrances were happening for the babyfaces, Tay Melo and Anna Jay said they did not trust Statlander because they wanted nothing to do with the Death Riders. Statlander insisted that she was not a member of the Death Riders, and Hayter claimed that she was there to fight tonight, but at AEW All Out she was talking the AEW Women’s World Championship from Toni Storm.

The Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue, & Thekla) & Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay), Kris Statlander (w/ Wheeler Yuta), Harley Cameron, & Jamie Hayter

Yuta was visibly in the corner of Statlander in this match, but Statlander did not seem happy about it, trying to get him to leave. Toni Storm was on commentary, bobbing her head to Jamie Hatyer’s theme, which is a fair response. Harley Cameron hit a head scissors on Megan Bayne that sent Bayne back into her corner, and she tagged out to Ford. Anna Jay tagged in and hit a kick on Ford, and it broke down into all the babyfaces hitting ten punches on each corner on all the heels, but then the heels pulled them all from the corner and started stomping a mudhole, as Steve Austin would say.

Toni Storm sent them to break, and Nigel McGuinness said that Toni looked absolutely fabulous, but it helped that she was sitting next to a Toad. Toady Schiavone. Nigel couldn’t even finish saying it and he and Toni were both cackling, so someone finally succeeded in getting Toni Storm to break. They then cut to a break on the international feed as well.

When they came back, Jamie Hatyer was hitting a spinebuster on Skye Blue. Bayne attacked Hayter from behind, and Ford came in and hit a stunner on Statlander, who did make the save for Hayter. Blue and hart hit a front suplex on Tay Melo. Harley Cameron and Statlander hit a double team move that sent Hart crashing face first to the mat. Every woma ngot in there and hit a series of big moves ending with Anna Jay hitting a flatliner on Julia Hart. Jamie Hayter and Megan Bayne started brawling, ending with a double lariat. Thekla ducked under a lariat from Anna Jay and hit a spear for the win.

Result: The Triangle of Madness, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford

–The heels started beating on the babyfaces and Mina Shirakawa and Queen Aminata ran out with some BBQing instruments. Shirakawa started hitting people with a cooler, and Aminata started hitting people with a metal spatula. I cannot say I expected that. Toni Storm stood up and told everyone to brawl, and dived onto a group of people. Hayter and Statlander hit double crossbodies on each other, and then Thekla went for a spear but Storm hit a Storm Zero as she went for it.

Toni Storm standing tall doesn’t exactly make me think she is losing the title at All Out, but they have another week to add some legitimacy to the other contenders. It seems the build up they did of Thekla holding the AEW Women’s World title was undone here though, so that is not how I would have booked this angle.

Max Caster vs. Big Bill (w/ Bryan Keith)

Max Caster was very upset when he found out who his opponent was for this match. Bill crushed Caster in the corner while screaming that he wanted Eddie Kingston. Bill looked directly in the camera and continued to call out Kingston, while the announcers showed Kingston’s response on social media saying he signed the contract, and all he needed was a location. Caster dodged a corner charge and hit the ropes, but Bill turned immediately around and hit a black hole slam for the pinfall.

Result: Big Bill

–Bill grabbed a mic and said that at least Max Caster had the guts to show up. The fans chanted loudly for Kingston as Bill said that the fans didn’t believe he was worthy of facing Kingston, but Kingston was only liked by the people because he looked like they did, and Bill, however, looked like a star, something Kingston would never understand. Bill named All Out as the location, and said he would face Kingston Toronto. Bill said Kingston was a loud mouth fraud, and he was going to beat him at All Out.

–Lexy Nair was with Jerry Lynn and Anthony Bowens, and Lynn said that he should have been clearer last week, saying that he needed to look in the mirror and ask “who’s missing” rather than what is missing. Just as he said this, Max Caster came through the curtain and shoved Bowens into Lynn. Bowens responded by attacking Caster and beating him around ringside. Caster responded with a lariat in the ring and the fans exploded with cheers. Bowens turned it around and started beating on Caster.

Jerry Lynn came into the ring and pulled them apart, and reminded Caster and Bowens that he was in the office when Tony Khan said that they had something as a tag team. Lynn said that Caster has not won a match since they broke up, and Bowens was floundering in the midcard. Bowens walked away, and Lynn said that Bowens couldn’t take the heat.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson came out and Christian said that Jerry Lynn was wasting his time trying to get those two back together, but since he was missing their clear talent, they were going to show him now. Christian and Johnson started beating on Jerry Lynn, and Max Caster stepped into try and defend him. Bowens struggled with what to do, but ultimately ran in and made the save, letting Lynn hit a lariat on Johnson, and then Caster and Bowens hit a double clothesline to send Johnson to the floor. The fans erupted as Lynn raised the hands of both men, and Bowens and Caster rolled out of the ring, not willing to accept they were better as a team.

–Mistico was with Lexy Nair and she asked him about his match with MJF at an upcoming CMLL show. MJF walked up with a man in a top hat and tuxedo, who translated what MJF said. MJF promised to take the mask from Mistico and retire him, and then promised he would destroy Mark Briscoe in Winnipeg, which is the wrong Canadian city. Mistico slapped the translator and promised to see MJF at Arena Mexico.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) vs. Tommy Billington & Adam Priest

Billington and Priest were given another shot at FTR, given the quality of the match last week. Wheeler and Billington started the match exchanging holds, and Wheeler tagged out at the first sign of Billington out wrestling him to Harwood, who came in and started chopping. Jinder Mahal would be proud. Priest tagged in and hit some hard European uppercuts, and ducked a chop on the floor as Harwood chopped the post. Nigel McGuinness noted that Priest was a lot like James Gibson, so I feel very validated in thinking that last week.

Billington tagged in and Harwood hit a massive top rope back superplex as they went to break. When they came back from break, Adam Priest was hitting forearms and hit a German suplex on Dax Harwood before hitting some hard European uppercuts. Wheeler low bridged Priest and he crashed to the floor. Wheeler drove Priest into the apron and tagged out to Harwood, who hung Priest over the middle ropes and started beating on them. Harwood hit a picture perfect Tully Blanchard sling shot suplex for a two count.

Wheeler spit gum into the face of Billington, who remained surprisingly composed. Wheeler yelled that Priest was a nobody, and shoved him back into the corner, but Priest kept fighting, and hit a back suplex on Wheeler. Harwood tried to stop the tag, but Billington hit a strike. Harwood hit a back body drop on Billington on the apron. Priest hit a forearm to the leg of Wheeler and locked on a half crab, but Harwood punched Priest right in the face to break it. Priest sent Harwood into the ring post, tagged out, and Billington hit a dropkick that sent Harwood into the post again. Billington hit an elbow drop on Harwood’s hurt hand from earlier and went to the top rope.

Harwood cut him off and hit a hard chop, but Billington hit a several headbutts and chops that sent Harwood to the mat. Priest sent Harwood to the floor and after as series of dives to the floor, Priest and Billington came very close to winning. There were so many near falls here, and it was excellent. The match ended when FTR managed to finally hit a spike piledriver on Billington after giving them absolutely everything to put them over before beating them.

Result: FTR

This match was awesome. An incredible tag team match that put over Priest and Billington a lot in losing, even more so than last week. Priest and Billington got something as a team, and I’d like to see AEW start to elevate them.

–A hype video aired for the 4-way ladder match at AEW All Out for the #1 Contendership to the AEW World Tag Team Championship, featuring The Young Bucks, Josh Alexander & Hechicero, The Bang Bang Gang, and The Matriarchy.

Michael Oku (w/ Amira Blair) vs. Kazuchika Okada (w/ Don Callis) for the AEW Unified Championship

Okada mocked Oku early on, but Oku was not the kind of wrestler that would take that, and he slapped Okada after the mocking break. Oku hit a hurricanrana and sent Okada to the apron. Oku hit a dropkick that sent Okada to the floor. Oku seems to be trying to make the most of his appearance here and hit a great Fosbury Flop on Okada. Oku went to the top rope and got dropkicked by Okada, sending Oku flying off the ropes and crashing into the barricade back first on the floor. The crowd screamed in horror, as it was a brutal looking spot.

Okada draped Oku on the guardrail and hit a DDT on the floor. Okada hit some forearms in the ring, as Callis claimed on commentary that he made Hechicero was so handsome without the mask that they made him wear one so no one would get distracted. Okada slammed Oku and hit an elbow off the top rope. Okada went for the Rainmaker, but Oku blocked it and hit a Pele kick. Oku ducked another attempt at the Rainmaker and hit a superkick. Oku went for a half crab on Okada, but Okada fought it off, and Oku hit a PK and a lionsault for a 2-count.

Oku called for another half crab and locked it in this time. Okada made it to the ropes quickly to break the submission. Okada dodged a corner charge, but Oku hit a series of kicks, ending with another superkick. Oku went for a flying crossbody and Okad astood up and hit a dropkick that sent Oku to the mat. Okada went for the Rainmaker, but Oku cradled him for a 2-count. Oku missed another corner charge, and Okada went for the Rainmaker again, but Oku tried to cradle him again, and Okada blocked it, pulled him up into a tombstone, and then hit a Rainmaker for the pinfall. This match was awesome.

Result: Kazuchika Okada

Two things really helped make this match great, and it was Michael Oku trying to steal the show and make a name for himself, and Okada giving him every opportunity to do so. Oku could be a top guy in AEW with the way he wrestles, and its only a matter of time before AEW signs him full time.

–Takeshita came out and pointed at Okada and his title, indicating he wanted to take it from his teammate in the Don Callis family.

–An excellent video aired for Hangman Adam Page and Kyle Fletcher.

The Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia) (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. The Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly)

Garcia and Kyle O’Reilly started the match, exchanging some great mat wrestling. Strong tagged in and he decided he wanted to beat on the young man, hitting some hard strikes and chops before he and O’Reilly hit chops and kicks together. Moxley tried to make the save, and O’Reilly ran across the apron and hit a flying knee on Moxley before resuming his assault on Garcia. O’Reilly hit a beautiful brainbuster before transitioning into an armbar that Moxley broke up.

Strong tried to hit a Sick Kick from the ring to the floor on Moxley, but Shafir pulled Moxley out of the way and Moxley laid Strong out on the floor. O’Reilly tried to help Strong, but Garcia hit a chop block on O’Reilly and did a figure four around the ring post, before getting helped up by Shafir. Moxley and Garcia continued the assault of O’Reilly. Daddy Magic on commentary was clearly upset about this turn of Garcia, and Garcia himself seemed indecisive, but Moxley quickly took him aside and directed him to continue attacking the knee of O’Reilly.

Moxley chopped O’Reilly and kicked his leg out of his leg. Moxley tagged out to Garcia and Garcia tried to elbow the knee, but O’Reilly caught him and went for an armbar. Moxley nailed O’Reilly to break it up and Garcia forearmed Strong from the apron. O’Reilly and Garcia exchanged forearms in the middle of the ring until O’Reilly hit a PK with his bad leg, but he limped over and tagged out to Strong, who hit a back breaker on Garcia and an Olympic slam on Moxley. Strong hit a gutbuster on Garcia and a series of running elbows on Moxley before hitting a Tiger Driver for a 2-count. Moxley finally countered strong and locked on a D’Arce Choke, but O’Reilly broke it up. O’Reilly ate a lariat from Moxley, and Strong hit a Sick Kick on Moxley and everyone was down.

Moxley pulled Strong into a bulldog choke and Garcia locked a kneebar on O’Reilly, who started kicking Moxley in the face while in the submission to try and save Strong. Strong hit a flying knee on Moxley, and Garcia flew in for the save. O’Reilly tagged in, limped to the apron, and hit a running dropkick off the apron onto Moxley. O’Reilly hit a flying armbar on Garcia back in the ring, but Moxley ran in and hit a curb stomp on O’Reilly breaking it up. Garcia put the Dragon Tamer on O’Reilly to get the submission win.

Result: The Death Riders

I loved this match so much. Garcia looked refreshed, and Moxley was great, as always. Garcia is a perfect fit for this group and it has revitalized his energy already.

–Daddy Magic got in the face of Garcia, asking what he was doing, and Garcia ignored him and walked away with Moxley to end the show.

Final Thoughts

While the early part of the show had a few questionable booking moments (I am thinking of Toni Storm laying out Thekla), overall this was a tremendous episode of Collision, especially with the FTR vs. Priest & Billington match, Okada/Oku, and the main event. Garcia has already been elevated by joining the Death Riders, and I’m very excited to see what Moxley can bring out of him, as he has a knack for making everyone around him better, in kayfabe and in reality.

Death Riders add new member on AEW Dynamite

AEW’s Death Riders group have added to their ranks.

In the show-closing angle on Wednesday’s Dynamite, Daniel Garcia attacked Darby Allin and aligned with Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir in the aftermath of the episode’s main event.

Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta of The Death Riders teamed with The Young Bucks in the $500,000 10-man tag main event, defeating Brodido and The Opps. After the bout, The Death Riders continued attacking The Opps as the Bucks and Brodido fought off. Darby Allin ran in to make the save for The Opps, momentarily neutralizing Moxley, his All Out opponent in a Coffin Match.

Allin’s aid was short-lived, as a hooded Garcia ran in and attacked, eventually leaving Allin laying after a curb stomp on a chair.

AEW Collision live results: Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia rematch

The intrigue between former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia continues on tonight’s live AEW Collision from Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.

Moxley defeated Garcia in a recent clash on Dynamite, but took an interest in Garcia afterward with speculation he may be trying to recruit him for the Death Riders. This will be their fourth-ever singles match with Moxley a perfect 3-0.

Mark Briscoe battles Konosuke Takeshita where if Briscoe wins, he earns a TNT title shot against Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher and Don Callis will also be heard from on the broadcast.

In another billed all-star eight-woman tag team match, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm teams with Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander against Thekla, Skye Blue, Julia Hart and Megan Bayne.

FTR takes on Adam Priest and the new “Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington to round out the show.

Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia

Collision starting off with a big match, as Daniel Garcia tries to finally get a win over Jon Moxley. Moxley fled to the ropes after a lock up, trying to bait Garcia into making a mistake. Both men exchanged some technical segments, with Garcia locking on a modified STF, transitioning into a pinfall attempt for 1. Moxley hit a snapmare and a kick to the back, and Garcia fired up and hit some hard forearms on Moxley, but Moxley responded with a hard lariat, getting what he wanted and putting Garcia on the defence.

Moxley started taking Garcia apart at this point with punches and chops in the corner. Garcia did not stay on the defence for too long, as Garcia attacked the knee of Moxley with dragon screws, submissions, and smashing Moxley’s knee into the ring post before locking on a figure four around the ring post. As they went back to the ring, Moxley hit a shotgun dropkick that sent Garcia flying from the apron into the announce table. Moxley stretched his knee out on the guardrail as they went to break on TNT.

Moxley continued to beat Garcia around the ringside area, including throwing him into the steps during the break. Moxley hit a spike piledriver in the middle of the ring for a 2-count and transitioned into an armbar. Garcia managed to roll into the ropes as they came back from the break on TNT. Moxley went for a Death Valley Driver on the apron, but Garcia fought out with repeated elbows to Moxley’s head, stunning him, and Garcia hit a piledriver on the apron to a huge pop from the crowd.

Garcia countered a bulldog choke with a stalling back suplex, and hit some face scraping kicks in the corner. Moxley went for a lariat out of the corner but Garcia ducked, and Moxley went for a sharpshooter, but Garcia countered into a very close 2-count. Garcia hit a superplex out of the corner for a 2-count and did a bulldog choke on Moxley, but Moxley fought out and hit a Paradigm Shift. Garcia kicked out at 2, so Moxley hit a running knee to the face for another 2-count and a locked on the bulldog choke, but Garcia rolled through and locked on the Dragon Tamer.

Moxley barely made the ropes to escape the hold. Both men struggled to their feat and Moxley invited Garcia to keep hitting him with hard forearms and stomps. Garcia countered out of a Death Rider, and them Moxley suplexed them both over the top rope and to the floor. This match is awesome. Garcia and Moxley hit a series of hard forearms, and Garcia went for the rebound lariat, but Moxley countered into a rear naked choke that Garcia countered into a roll up, but Moxley sat down on it and pinned Garcia. Tremendous match.

Result: Jon Moxley

If you are someone that thinks Jon Moxley can’t work, you need to watch this match. Moxley was tremendous in this match, giving everything he could to Garcia before winning. An excellent match that in different times would be considered one of the better TV matches of the year, but this is pretty much standard fare for AEW. Nonetheless, an awesome match.

–Daniel Garcia shoved Daddy Magic away and talked to Tony Schiavone saying that he was tired of having a tremendous match, but still losing, and while he keeps getting back up, having a good 5-years just isn’t good enough. It seems like Garcia is going to be making some changes, and might be joining those Death Riders soon, I think.

–A recap aired of Kyle Fletcher hitting a brainbuster on a chair on Hangman Page and a brainbuster off the apron through a table on Kenny Omega on Dynamite.

–Big Bill was backstage with Bryan Keith, and Bill called out Philadelphia saying that this was the city that mocked him as he hit rock bottom, but he is now in the best shape of his life, and he was a real tough guy that came from New York City. Bill called out the tough guy from New York City that he hasn’t seen in a long time, calling out Eddie Kingston. The fans reacted with chants for Kingston, so it seems we’ll be seeing him back soon, which brings joy to my heart.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokely Hathaway) vs. Adam Priest & Tommy Billington

Adam Priest reminds me a lot of 2005 James Gibson (Jamie Knoble), from his size, to the toughness he exudes in the ring. It’s clear that FTR really like Priest, as they were happy to sell for him in this match. Cash and Priest exchanged some holds, then Billington and Harwood tagged in and continued doing the same. Billington hit a monkey flip and a Ricky Steamboat armdrag before tagging out to Priest. Harwood immediately drove Priest back to his corner and tagged out to Wheeler as they double teamed Priest.

Billington and Priest hit stereo snap suplexes that sent FTR to the floor, while a confused Stokley Hathaway looked on. Nigel McGuinness stated that he was surprised Stokely Hathaway wasn’t in a wheelchair after taking a killswitch from Christian Cage, which made me laugh. FTR hit a double clothesline on Priest as they went to ad break. Wheeler suplexed Priest across the top rope and started working him over for the heat. Wheeler distracted the referee while Harwood fishhooked Priest.

Wheeler and Priest started brawling on the floor, and Priest got the better of it. Priest threw Wheeler into the pillar near the crowd, then went back into the ring with Wheeler and hit a clothesline that sent him back to the floor, followed by a dive, while Billington locked on a crossface on Harwood, and hit a wheelbarrow suplex off the top rope for a 2-count. Billington missed a top rope headbutt, and Harwood tried to hit a superplex for Power & Glory, but Priest knocked Wheeler off the top rope and Billington knocked Harwood off the ropes before they hit a double flying headbutt for a 2-count that Wheeler broke up.

Harwood hit a Hansen lariat on Priest and FTR hit stereo German suplexes on Billington and Priest for a 2-count. Priest and Billington did roll up FTR for a near fall, but FTR quickly got back up and hit hard strikes before finally hitting Power & Glory on Priest for the pinfall.

Result: FTR

It seems FTR was determined to give these young guys a chance to look great, just like Moxley was with Garcia. Excellent match.

–Harwood locked Priest in a crossface and Billington made the save, but Hathaway made them stop the beat down, blaming Copeland and Christian Cage for the violence committed in the match, and wanted them to know that it was only 2-weeks before they ended their careers.

–An ad played with Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum as they were hanging out in brother nature, while they suddenly heard the cry of a peacock. They looked around and found several of the Boys, and they turned around and saw Dalton Castle there. Dalton Castle joined them and said that they were going to break some hearts. Dalton Castle is back!

–Jon Moxley talked backstage about what all the young guys wanted as they kept chasing after him, and it couldn’t be his God given talent, as he had none, or his people skills, as he doesn’t have those, and it wasn’t his belts, but it was because he is the guy that has the will to keep doing what needs to be done. Moxley made it clear that he wanted nothing more than to have Darby Allin by his side, fighting with him, but since he keeps coming back to fight for more, he is going to take Darby Allin out and make room for someone next to him that wants to be a master of the craft, as that is why people keep coming for him. Excellent promo.

The Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue, & Thekla) & Megan Bayne vs. Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Mina Shirakawa, & Toni Storm

Wheeler Yuta came to ringside to talk to Statlander before being sent to the back. Thekla and Toni Storm started the match, with a battle of two different generations of Stardom stars. Cameron came in and hit a Russian legsweep on Julia Hart, while Statlander came in and did a tilt-a-whirl on Cameron to send her into Hart for a 2-count. Shirakawa hit a slingblade on Hart for another near fall, but to stop Shirakawa from tagging out to continue the offence, the heels ran around the ring and pulled all the babyfaces from the apron. Hart tagged out to Bayne, who hit a clothesline on Shirakawa, as they went to ad break.

Blue continued to get the heat on Shirakawa throughout the ad break, leading to the fans to chant loudly for Shirakawa. Hart hit a standing moonsault on Shirakawa for a 2-count as they came back from the break. Shirakawa figure foured the legs of Skye Blue while hitting a DDT on Hart. Toni Storm came in and ran wild, but was pulled from the ring by Megan Bayne. Statlander held the hand on Mina Shirakawa, allowing her to run up the ropes and hit a dive onto Bayne on the floor. Statlander and Cameron hit a double team move on Blue. The rest of the women all hit big moves, ending with Statlander hitting a big lariat on Bayne, but Bayne responded with her own, and then both women tumbled to the floor.

Cameron and Blue were left in the ring and they crashed into each other and were left laying in the middle of the ring. Hart and Statlander exchanged strikes, but Hart locked on an octopus stretch on Statlander in the middle of the ring. Cameron sent Bayne flying into the ring post, but Bayne drove Cameron into a ringside pillar. Statlander hit an electric chair on Julia Hart before wrapping Hart up with a seatbelt pinfall, stealing Wheeler Yuta’s move.

Result: Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Mina Shirakawa, & Toni Storm

In the post match, the Triangle of Madness attacked Statlander, while also laying out Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm before Jamie Hayter made the save and drove them away, while Hayter and Storm were left in the ring. Hayter offered to help Storm up, and Storm was suspicious, but Statlander tried to make peace between the two of them, as the fans chanted “Hug it out!”

Storm grabbed a microphone and asked if they wanted to get nuts and appear to challenge the Triangle of Madness to a six-woman tag with Statlander and Hayter for AEW All Out. All parties agreed…except it was actually a four-way Women’s World title match featuring Storm, Thekla, Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter.

–An Ace Austin hype video aired, showing his run with Chris Bey in New Japan and as a member of Bullet Club, and highlights of matches he had there and in ROH over the years. Austin is great, so I can’t wait to see what he will do in AEW.

–Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn were backstage, and that was a nice transition to Bullet Club Gold from the last video, and they talked about needing to figure out what was next. They put away Card Blade and Card Colten, saying they needed to take this seriously, and left the interview with Lexy Nair.

–A recap of Riho returning to attack Mercedes Mone aired, and Mercedes Mone challenged her and Alex Windsor to a match for Dynamite when she teams with Emi Sakura, the trainer of Riho.

–Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, & Kyle Fletcher came out to discuss what happened with Hangman Page and Kenny Omega last week, while also talking about Mark Briscoe and Konosuke Takeshita later in the night with Tony Schiavone. Callis cut Schiavone off and claimed that Fletcher has put Kenny Omega out forever, and how Alexander had the other team exactly where he wanted them last week.

Alexander talked about how when he debuted in AEW he fought Hangman Page and lost, but he is not the same guy that debuted earlier this year, and he was going to run through Hangman Page for the sake of the Callis family. Fletcher talked about how he has taken out all his contenders, so in the meantime, he had plans, and he was the man to fill the shoes of Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, and Will Ospreay, he was going to challenge Hangman Adam Page to a world title match at AEW All Out.

Fletcher said that All Out was the show where Hangman Page got his first chance at the AEW World Championship, but unlike Page, he was not going to take 3 years to win it, and will not fail like Page did in his first title match. Nor would it take him 6 years to become the top guy in AEW, and if Hangman Page didn’t accept, he had no problem putting Page on the injured list and taking the vacant title from his hands. This was an excellent promo.

–Kyle O’Reilly was backstage with Ishii, Roderick Strong, and Hologram, and he said that it was weird, because they successfully cloned a luchadore (Clon, the evil Hologram, apparently). O’Reilly said that Ishii was going back to Japan for a few weeks, and Strong said he would fine if Ishii never came back. O’Reilly said he could tell Ishii was emotional, as Ishii stared on, emotionless, which was funny. O’Reilly claimed that everything was great in Conglomalamaland, and they just needed to cool off.

–Lexy Nair was with Anthony Bowens backstage, and Bowens said he was happy there was no Billy Gunn or Max Caster nearby, and he was busy doing media for AEW with a ton of WBD events, and Jerry Lynn walked up and said Bowens needed to take a long, hard look in the mirror to find out what was missing.

Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Josh Alexander & Don Callis) vs. Mark Briscoe

Briscoe and Takeshita started the match relatively calm, exchanging holds, until Takeshita raked the eyes of Briscoe. They started exchanging strikes at this moment as they went to break on TNT. Briscoe hit ten punches in the corner to the delight of the fans. Briscoe has a remarkable way of getting the fans into everything he does, and eliciting sympathy in ways few can. Takeshita took out the leg of Briscoe as he went for the Cactus Elbow, and hit a DDT to the floor off the apron.

Briscoe was not one to take that laying down though, hitting some hard chops once he was back on his feat, and hitting a Fisherman’s Buster for a 2-count. Briscoe flipped over a back body drop, landing on his feet, but turned into a Blue Thunder Bomb from Takeshita for a 2-count. Takeshita sent Briscoe to the floor and hit a tope con giro in front of the announce desk. Briscoe low bridged Takeshita and hit a dropkick before hitting a block buster off the apron to the floor.

Briscoe hit a running lariat for a 2-count. Both men hit lariats and were left down in the middle of the ring. Takeshita went for a superplex, but Briscoe responded with a sunset powerbomb off the ropes and went for the Froggy Bow, but Takeshita got the knees up. Takeshita hit a helluva kick in the corner and a German suplex, but Briscoe fired up and nailed Takeshita with a lariat for a 2-count. Briscoe went for the Jay Driller, but Takeshita countered into an inverted piledriver and a wheelbarrow into a German suplex for a 2-count.

Briscoe hit a palm strike and climbed the ropes, and Takeshita cut him off. Takeshita went for a suplex or falcon arrow, but Briscoe blocked it and bit the head of Takeshtia before hitting a headbutt and going for a Froggy Bow, but Don Callis got on the apron, and MJF ran out and shoved Briscoe off the ropes, letting Takeshita hit a running knee and a falcon arrow for the pinfall.

Result: Konosuke Takeshita

This was an incredible match. Briscoe and Takeshita steal the show on a show where it was hard to steal it after the opener.

–MJF started beating on Briscoe in the post match, but Takeshita shoved MJF, indicating that he didn’t need help. Callis tried to make peace between the two, taking Takeshita from the ring. MJF and Briscoe started brawling and security ran out to pull them apart.

MJF grabbed a mic and said that he was tired of Briscoe, and he could name the place and the stipulation, because it was time to end this. Briscoe said that MJF made a huge mistake, and the place was All Out in Toronto, while the stipulation was something he would come up with later.

Final Thoughts

This was a tremendous episode of Collision. Some major angles to setup matches for AEW All Out, great wrestling, and great promos. You can’t ask for a better show than this to hype up a PPV, while also being great in a self contained way with the quality of the matches. AEW hit it out of the park this week.

Jon Moxley match set for next AEW Collision

Jon Moxley is in action next week.

After Daniel Garcia defeated Blake Christian in the opening match of this week’s show at the 2300 Arena, Tony Schiavone asked Garcia about what Jon Moxley told him prior to the start of the match. Garcia refused to give an answer and instead chose to challenge Moxley to a match. Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta emerged from the crowd and accepted the match on Moxley’s behalf. The match was later made official for next week’s program.

Garcia wrestled Moxley on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. Although Garcia came close to scoring the win several times, it was Moxley who ended up getting the win. As Garcia recovered on the outside, Moxley met him there and attempted to talk to him while Wheeler Yuta cut a promo.

Prior to the start of his match on Collision, Moxley came out and talked to Garcia on the apron as Menard looked on confused.

Gabe Kidd also issued a challenge to Darby Allin for next week. He cut a promo saying he didn’t want a referee or any rules for their proposed match, he just wanted to take Allin’s soul. The match wasn’t made official and it wasn’t clear which show it would take place on.

AEW Collision live results: IWGP World title eliminator, Ace Austin debuts

Tonight’s AEW Collision from Cincinnati, Ohio, will feature a four-way title eliminator match for Forbidden Door in addition to the debut of former TNA star Ace Austin.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty, former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Nigel McGuinness and Hechicero will do battle with the winner moving on to face IWGP World Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at this month’s Forbidden Door.

Months after moving on from TNA, former X-Division and Tag Team Champion Ace Austin will make his debut as he battles Ricochet.

The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta will take on JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) while Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) faces Blake Christian & Lee Johnson.

In a four-way, it will be Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart vs. Anna Jay vs. Penelope Ford for $100,000 on the line.

The card is rounded out by Juice Robinson vs. Bryan Keith, and an appearance by AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm.

Let the colliding begin as Collision begins with the one and only AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm!

Storm addressed the crowd as only she can, calling Athena “annoying.” Storm mocked Athena’s many nicknames and her bullying of Billie Starkz. Storm got on her knees and prayed to the “Fallen Goddess” when suddenly, the ROH Forever Champion herself arrived to attack her. Starkz joined Athena and the two beat down storm. Athena grabbed the mic and said that Storm better pray that Athena doesn’t expose her as the fraud she is.

Starkz dragged Storm to the ring and Athena assured Storm that her days were numbered. She then claimed Storm’s spotlight but suddenly Mina Shirakawa arrived and sent Athena reeling. In the ring, Storm hit a suplex on Starkz, leaving Athena caught in between Shirakawa and Storm. She dove off the ring ramp and was taken away by security. Storm and Shirakawa celebrated on the ramp.

JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) vs. Death Riders’ Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta

Knight and Speedball have both had singles matches with Jon Moxley. Now, they are going to try the tag team thing and take on Mox and Yuta, while Marina Shafir prowls around the ring.

JetSpeed dove over the top rope and took out Yuta and Moxley before the bell had even rung. Bailey tossed Yuta into the ring and the match started, officially. Knight tagged right in and the two hit a bunch of double team plants and kicks.

Yuta and Knight carried on while Moxley sauntered his way to the corner. Yuta tagged him in and Moxley went right to Bailey in the corner, knocking him off. He then sent Knight over the top rope to the outside, bouncing his head off the announce table multiple times. Bailey tried to help, but Moxley bounced his head off the table for good measure.

Back in the ring, Moxley tagged in Yuta who hit a bridge suplex for a two-count. Yuta tagged Moxley back in and he proceeded to punch Knight in the stomach for a few minutes before tagging Yuta back in. The Death Riders plan seemed to be to keep both members off JetSpeed off their feet so that they couldn’t build momentum.

Bailey tagged in and hit a few quick kicks on Yuta followed by a standing Shooting Star cover for two. Bailey resorted to a Karate Kid crane kick that knocked Yuta off his feet. He tagged in Moxley who was able to get in just in time to eat a double dropkick.

Moxley grabbed Bailey and hit a German suplex on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) before tossing him back in to Yuta. The two double teamed Bailey with Moxley working over his arm. Moxley sent Bailey out of the ring where Shafir added her two cents. Mox bounced Bailey off the barricade and tossed him back in for a backbreaker.

Yuta tagged in and Baliey began a comeback. Moxley tagged back in and put an end to that with a suplex attempt that Baily reversed into a pin attempt. Yuta tagged in before Bailey could make a tag to Knight, but after a bit of a back and forth, the tag was made and a fresh Knight leapt in to slam and splash Yuta.

Yuta tagged in Moxley and Knight tagged in Bailey and the two started trading forearms. Yuta and Knight tried to get involved, but it ended up with all four men brawling in the ring. Moxley dodged a high kick from Baliey and turned it into a cutter and a two count. Knight came in and took out Mox, leaving Bailey and Yuta as the legal men.

Bailey and Knight hit an amazing double team hurricanrana into a power bomb, but it only got a two count. Bailey went up for a springboard splash but again, only two. Knight took his turn next, going for a splash, but Yuta rolled out of the way. Knight had Yuta in a backslide, but Shafir pulled Knight out. Bailey tried to help, but sent Shafir into the stairs by mistake.

Back in the ring, Yuta was covered by Knight, but Shafir pulled the ref out. Then Mox pulled out Bailey for a ddt on the outside. Yuta took the opportunity to low-blow Baliey and get a three count.

Match Result: Death Riders defeated JetSpeed

Great match to kick things off! The brawling style vs the high flying was a joy to watch. Jon Moxley is the grumpiest man on the planet and I’d pay just to watch him stomp around about stuff.

-Back from break, The Outrunners were shown in the music video for “Brother Nature” which one can only assume was produced in 1988. Good TV.

Ricochet vs. Ace Austin

This is Austin’s big AEW debut and doing it against Ricochet promises to make it memorable. The two had a confrontation on Wednesday, so there’s already some bad feelings in the mix. Also, I love Ricochet’s entrance music.

Austin made a pretty big splash as he entered. He looks like he’s about 17 years old though, so I’ll assume he had to put down his Switch 2 to get into the match.

Speaking of, Austin had control off the top. He and Ricochet had a lighting fast exchange, with Austin sending Ricochet out of the ring. Austin then wouldn’t let him get back in the ring, stopping him with some big kicks.

When Ricochet finally made it back in, he managed to hang Austin up on the ropes and then stood on his hair, clearly out of jealousy. Ricochet dropped elbows and knees on Austin, keeping him off his feet and sending him into the corner for a 619 and then a big elbow drop.

Back from break, Austin was headed up to the top turnbuckle, when Gates of Agony appeared at the top of the ramp. That allowed Ricochet to get a brainbuster followed by a shooting star press off the distraction. Ricochet hit a big samoan drop, but only got a two count.

Ricochet tried to position Austin for a big move, but Austin wormed out only to eat a bit kick. Ricochet went up top, but Austin returned the favor from earlier and knocked him off the ropes. Austin then hit a lalriat sending Ricochet out. Austin followed with a dive, but before he could get back in the ring, Kaun got ahold of him. Austin sent Kaun into a ring post and jumped back in.

Austin and Ricochet exchanged pin attempts until Ricochet hit a Spirit Gun and that was too much for the younger star and Ricochet got the pin.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Ace Austin

-Backstage the Hurt Syndicate were interviewed and stated that they don’t care who wins the finals of the Tag Team Tournament because they will beat whoever it is.

Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

After saying so in an interview with Rene Paquette, O’Reilly and Strong are looking to re-forge some undisputed links in their new group, Paragon. A win over Christian and Johnson would be a good step forward in that, but personally I think they should go the Dark Order route and get some matching jackets. Those Dark Order jackets are sweet.

Strong and Christian kicked things off with a speedy exchange. Christian cartwheeled his way into into a double team though as O’Reilly tagged in. Johnson tried to save his partner, but Strong sent him packing.

Strong and O’Reilly double teamed Johnson in the ring, isolating him from Christian, who flew in and knocked Strong off the ring apron. Johnson claimed the momentum in the ring with a flurry of kicks on O’Reilly, blocking a hot tag to Strong by tagging in and out with Christian.

Strong and Johnson tagged in respectively and Strong hit a big shoulder slam. Strong hit a bunch of forearms and then O’Reilly joined him for some tandem knees. Christian and Johnson absoltuely flew around the ring ring until Strong and O’Reilly hit a high/low and picked up the win.

Match Result: Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong defeated Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

That match was wild! Johnson and Christian are so fast and athletic that it’s hard to keep up with them. I couldn’t tell who was legal half the time because everyone was always hitting someone. Strong and O’Reilly are great at this pro wrestling thing and I’m loving all the friendship angles. Great Stuff.

-Back from break, we saw a beat up Bandido with Stokely and FTR standing over them. Brody King showed up to avenge his partner and King and FTR fought their way out to the ring. King manhandled FTR, until Stokely hit King in the face with a fistfull of powder. FTR stole the mask of Bandido and hit a Shatter Machine on King.

-SkyFlight joined us from backstage offering Don Callis any match that he wants. Tag, singles, anything. Then they left to train.

$100K 4-Way Collision: Julia Hart vs. Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay

Straight up, I have no idea why $100,000 is on the line in this match. Considering they just had a $50K challenge before Supercard of Honor (won by AR Fox) this might be a sign that Tony Khan has too much money. Also, just so everyone’s clear, I will fight myself in a match for $25K.

The rules of the match weren’t really made clear, but all four women started brawling off the top. It seems that it’s no DQ and whoever gets a pinfall first wins. That said, Jay and Statlander sent HArt and Ford out early and battled each other in the ring. Statlander went for a pin, but Hart broke it up and replaced Jay in the ring.

Hart walked the ropes into a hurricanrana (do that, Undertaker!), but Ford stacked her and Statlander in the corner. Before she could do much though, Jay came back and stacked all three for a big roundhouse kick.

Hart and Ford seemed to form a loose alliance to beat up Jay. They traded moves on here, but anytime one went for a pin, the other would break it up. Statlander re-arrived and clotheslined, well, everyone, following it up with a big suplex to Jay.

Hart and Ford tried to suplex Statlander, but but she reversed it and ht a double suplex on them both. Jay sent Statlander to the outside and then Hart did the same to Jay, leaving her and Ford to fight in the ring. Ford hung Hart up on the ropes then whipped her backwards for a stomp or three.

Jay and Ford fought to the top turnbuckle, but Statlander grabbed Ford for a suplex, but left herself open to a blockbuster from Jay. Jay began spamming leg lariats and hit a backstabber on Statlander for a two-count.

Statlander got Jay and Hart on her back, but Ford dropkicked everyone into the corner. Statlander picked up Ford, but she reversed it into a poisonrana. Hart took Ford into the corner with a lariat and then a kick for Jay. Hart set Jay up in the corner and she and Ford hit stereo moonsaults that both missed.

Hart and Jay fought back and forth with Jay hitting a Gory special, but Ford broke up the pin. Ford dragged Jay to the outside, but Statlander caught Hart in the ring with a scissor choke on her forcing her to tap out and giving Statlander the win and $100k for some reason.

Match Result: Kris Statlander defeated Penelope Ford, Anna Jay and Julia Hart

After the match, every woman on the roster arrived for some reason and a melee broke out. Suddenly though, Harley Cameron and that broke it all up.

That was an amazing match but for two things: 1) there was no need for the gigantic run-in and 2) I still don’t know why $100K was on the line. Great fun though.

-SkyFlight’s challenge was answered in the back by Hechicero, Kyle Fletcher and Lance Archer. They will see Skyflight in Glasgow (because everybody dies, and so on) and seem very confident they will beat them in the match that they will surely tell us about before next Wednesday. Right?

-Backstage, Kris Statlander was interviewed about her big win. Harley Cameron arrived to celebrate with her and so did the Death Riders. Yuta and Moxley were very friendly (which was unsettling) and congratulated Statlander before leaving. The worst part was that Harley Cameron didn’t get to talk more.

Bryan Keith vs. Juice Robinson

Keith and Big Bill were knocked out of the AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament by the Bang Bang Gang. So the interfered with Robinson’s match against Ricochet. So tonight, they can hopefully settle the beef.

Keith and Robinson kicked things off with a perfectly cromulent chain. Things picked up during the break as Keith wrapped Robinson’s leg around the ringpost and nearly broke it in half. Back in the ring, Keith kept working the leg until Robinson threw a few elbows. Keith just wrenched his knee harder and put him in a modified Boston crab.

Back from break, Robinson reversed a Keith charge with an elbow. Keith grabbed his leg and Robinson punched him in the face a lot about it. He grabbed Keith and hit a spinebuster, but seemed to hurt his knee more than Keith.

Big Bill hopped up on the ring, so Austin Gunn got in his face. Bill threw him into the barricade, while Robinson hit a big slam in the ring, pinning Keith clean.

Match Result: Juice Robinson defeated Bryan Keith

-Backstage Rene Paquette interviewed Anthony Bowens. Bowens is tired of hearing about Max Caster. He represents the company and the fans better than anyone. Bowens was mad that Caster is going to Scotland and he isn’t. Bowens stomped off with nothing really resolved.

Technical Spectacle: Hechicero vs. Nigel McGuinness vs ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty vs Daniel Garcia

My goodness! Someone has been reading my dream journal, Mr Khan! This match is going to be insane. For those with a love of the technical aspects of wrestling, this isn’t a fantasy match, it’s a literal fantasy and I am so stoked for it! The winner of this will face off against IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door on Sunday, August 24 in London.

After a feeling out, McGuinness and Moriarty paried off as did Garcia and Hechicero. It was like two matches were happening at once, with McGuinness stomping the hand of Moriarty and Garcia trying to work Hechicero into a surfboard.

Moriarty hit a sunset flip on McGuinness and Garcia worked the ankle of Hechicero. Hechicero wrapped Garcia’s arm around the ropes while McGuinness sent Moriarty to the outside. Hechicero and Garcia followed them and Moriarty sent McGuinness into the barricade.

Garcia and Hechicero began chopping in the ring with Garcia sending Hechicero to the corner for some punches. Moriarty tried to break it up, but Garcia sent him packing. Hechicero grabbed Garcia and the two rolled around the ring hitting pin attempts.

On the outside, Moriarty put a full nelson on McGuinness, then flew back into the ring to try to pin Hechicero. Garcia sent Hechicero packing and turned his attention to Moriarty. McGuinness broke it all up with a stomp, leaving the other three on their backs.

Moriarty and Garcia exchanged opponents for a second before attacking each other. Moriarty got Garcia on his back, McGuinness locked around Moriarty’s leg and Hechicero went for his ankle. This lasted for a few minutes before everyone collapsed in a heap.

During the commercial, Moriarty and McGuinness fought in the ring while Garcia and Hechicero took things to the outside. Hechicero put a stretch on Garcia while McGuinness found himself in a Border City Stretch in the ring. Hechicero left Garcia and put an ankle lock on Moriarty. Then Garcia jumped back in and put an arm bar on Hechicero. The four men writhed in pain until everyone broke it up.

Hechicero wrenched McGuinness’ leg around the rope before moving on to Garcia. Hechicero went up top, but McGuninness pulled him down with a Tower of London and went for a pin. Garcia broke it up though and began chopping McGuinness. Garcia almost had him pinned, but Hechicero broke it up with a kick.

Hechicero put a sleeper on McGuinness and Garcia and Moriarty fought across the ring. McGuinness wrapped his leg around Hechicero’s ankle forcing him to break the hold. Moriarty Had Garcia on his back and Garcia wiggled free and hit a crossface on McGuinness. Hechicero had Moariarty wrapped up and McGuinness rolled through.

McGuinness had Garcia’s arm locked and Moriarty had Hechicero in a figure four, but he got a rope break. Moriarty started throwing strikes at Hechicero who got him a an absolutely brutal headscissor. McGuinness locked in an arm hold on Hechicero while Garcia worked the legs of Moriarty. No one gave up so McGuinness hit Garcia in the head and wrapped up Moriarty’s arm in a London Dungeon.

After Moriarty broke free, Garcia began slapping Hechicero, slugging it out with the luchadore. Garcia put a dragon tamer on Hechicero, while McGuinness locked in another London Dungeon on Moriarty.

Hechicero was about to tap, but Moriarty prevented it. McGuinness pulled back on the arm of Moriarty and that was it, the ROH Pure Champion was forced to tap out. McGuinness gets the victory and the shot at Zack Sabre Jr at Forbidden Door.

Match Result: Nigel McGuinness defeated Lee Moriarty, Daniel Garcia and Hechicero.

After the match, McGuinness was asked by Rene Paquette if he felt ready and McGuinness said that it was a dream match for everyone. McGuinness then took a moment to congratulate Garcia in particular, saying he gave his all. A somber Garcia went to leave the ring, but McGuinness asked him to corner for him in London. Garcia shook his hand and said that he would. FRIENDSHIP!!

Wow, that was INCREDIBLE. If they put it on Youtube or somewhere, take a few moments to check it out. I feel like I was only able to recap about 2/3rds of what was going on. It was like two matches were happening at the same time. Absolutely phenomenal, possible match of the year in my humble opinion.

AEW Collision 100 live results: Daniel Garcia vs. Kyle Fletcher

Tonight’s 100th episode of AEW Collision from Ontario, California, will feature former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR taking on The Outrunners as a featured bout.

In another featured match, former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia battles Kyle Fletcher in a rematch from last year’s Continental Classic. Current champion Adam Cole will also be on the show, celebrating his birthday.

In another eight-woman tag, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena teams with Megan Bayne, Thekla and Julia Hart to take on Thunder Rosa, Tay Melo, Anna Jay and Queen Aminata.

In a singles challenge turned three-way, Shelton Benjamin will take on Kevin Knight and ROH TV Champion Nick Wayne.

Mistico will team with Hologram and Mark Briscoe against Rocky Romero, Hechicero and Trent Beretta of the Don Callis Family.

Willow Nightingale will take on Vipress while Max Caster will host another open challenge to round out the broadcast.

Our coverage begins at 8 PM Eastern.

Adam Cole opened the show, making his way down to the ring to hype up the crowd. Cole introduced the 100th episode of Collision and he thanked the fans for their support, saying he is proud to represent TNT as the TNT Champion, and that he is optimistic for the future of AEW. Cole promised to hold onto the championship for the future into 2026, and he was interrupted by Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher claimed that the future of the company belonged to him, and said he was going to take the TNT title from Cole. Fletcher reminded Cole that he and MJF beat Aussie Open at All In 2023 when they won the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Fletcher said that he was not the same wrestler he was back then, and this time, when they faced off at All In, he wanted a match with Cole, and he was going to win the TNT Championship.

Daniel Garcia came out and pointed out that he is the future of AEW, not Fletcher, and that when he sees Adam Cole in the ring, he is distracted and tempted to look past Fletcher, because he wants the TNT Championship back.

Cole responded that he would give Garcia a chance anytime he wanted, and that Fletcher needed the help of the Don Callis family to survive the last time they were in the ring. Cole said that as he was a fighting champion and he would fight them both. Fletcher protested, pointing out that he beat Garcia in the Continental Classic last year when Garcia was TNT Champion and never got a shot, so he deserves the shot one-on-one. Garcia responded that he didn’t want the title shot as a reward, but that he wanted to earn it, while reminding people that he may lose, but he always gets back up, so he wanted to make his match with Fletcher tonight a chance at a title shot. Cole agreed.

–A hype video aired for Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone that was incredible. Storm talked about how not everything in life was worth fighting over, but sometimes you find that one thing that is worth losing blood over, and for Storm, it is the AEW Women’s World Championship. She said that the match at All In would not be pretty, and it would be a fight that might discourage girls from becoming wrestlers because it was so violent. She also said that there were two types of people in wrestling – the egotistical, greedy, selfish people that want it all, and the people that take them down. Excellent video.

Shelton Benjamin (w/ MVP) vs. Nick Wayne (w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian) vs. Kevin Knight (w/ Mike Bailey)

Benjamin spent the early part of the match throwing Wayne and Knight around the ring until Knight cradled Benjamin as he ran at him, but he kicked out. Wayne and Knight dropkicked Benjamin from the ring, and Wayne hit a flying uppercut on Knight before going after the ribs in the corner. Wayne walked backwards into Benjamin and realized he was in trouble, as Benjamin suplexed him and then tossed Wayne to the floor.

Benjamin slammed Wayne on the floor, as Mother Wayne looked on concerned. Wayne escaped Benjamin and locked Knight in a chinlock back in the ring. Knight hit the ropes, Wayne dropped down, and Benjamin came in and popped Knight up into the air for him to crash down to the mat. Benjamin hit a tilt-a-whirl slam on Wayne, and Knight flew off the ropes into a sunset flip on Benjamin, but Wayne broke it with a crucifix on Knight and Knight kicked out. Both Wayne and Knight then superkicked Benjamin, sending him back into the corner.

Knight sent Wayne across the ring into the arms of Benjamin who powerbombed Wayne into Knight, hit a German suplex on Wayne, and another on Knight. Benjamin then started several German suplexes on both men, throwing people around like they weighed nothing, hitting flying knees on both men. Knight low bridged Benjamin and Wayne flew over Knight with a tope con giro onto Benjamin which Knight followed with a springboard clothesline on both men.

Wayne bit a code red back in the ring on Knight for a 2-count. Knight hit a dropkick on Wayne for a 2-count. Benjamin ducked under a Knight attack, locking on an ankle lock. Nick Wayne hit a superkick on Benjamin, then Wayne’s World. As he went for the pin, Knight flew off the ropes with a UFO splash onto Wayne and Benjamin to pin Benjamin for the win.

Match Result: Kevin Knight

Excellent match from these guys, though the heat was not very high for it. Of course, it wouldn’t be given the beating Knight and Bailey took on Dynamite making people believe that they did not stand a chance here. Thankfully, they gave Knight the win, clean as a sheet, which adds at least a little doubt about the Hurt Syndicate winning at All In.

–The Death Riders were walking out of the building after Dynamite, refusing an interview until Claudio Castagnoli stopped and turned to the camera, saying he was getting sick of the Opps, and how he, Yuta, and a partner were coming for their AEW Trios Championships at All In. Solid promo. Who will their partner be, given PAC is out injured?

The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe & Hologram) & Mistico vs. Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) & Hechicero

Mistico got a superstar reaction coming out, which always makes me smile. Mistico and Romero started the match, with Mistico hitting a lucha arm drag on Romero before tagging out to Briscoe, who hit a series of chops and strikes with his redneck kung fu. Hologram handed Briscoe a chair and Briscoe went for a dive to the floor off the chair, but Beretta shoved the chair out of the way and then hit a drop toe hold onto the chair on Briscoe as the referee’s back was turned.

The heels got the heat on Briscoe for the next few minutes. When they came back from the break Hologram was hitting a headscissors takedown on Hechicero. RPG Vice tried to hit a double team move but only succeeded in swinging Hologram backwards around Beretta leading into a poisonrana of sorts. It took all three men of the Don Callis Family to stop Hologram, with Romero hitting a flying knee on Hologram who was draped on the ropes, and a running knee from Beretta. Hechicero flipped Hologram into the air into an armbar, but Briscoe broke it up.

Romero celebrated hitting a kick on Mistico, but ate a monkey flip from Hologram. Beretta floored Hologram, and it left Briscoe in the ring with Beretta, who was quickly dumped to the floor. Briscoe hit a flip dive off the apron on Romero before setting up two chairs with Hologram and hitting stereo tope con giro as Mistico hit La Mistica on Romero for the finish.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe, Hologram, & Mistico

–MJF and MVP appeared on the screen, and MVP said that while Briscoe wanted to chat one-on-one, MJF doesn’t chat without his crew with him, and that Mistico has no chance of coming up for the Casino Gauntlet Match as MJF was going to beat Briscoe before anyone else could make their entrance.

–Swerve Stricktland, Anna Jay, and AEW were present for a NASCAR race, and showed the stars hanging out with the pit crews and drivers, promoting the event, while they also promoted AEW. This was cool! AEW stars are frequently at sports events and almost never show it, so this was a win. Show this stuff more often, as it makes the wrestlers look like huge stars.

–Max Caster was in the ring for his open challenge, and they started to chant his chant. Caster claimed they were making funny of him, so they should chant “This crowd sucks!” The crowd then chanted “This crowd sucks!” which was hilarious. They put a 5 minute timer on the video awaiting the challenger. They showed Scorpio Sky training with Christopher Daniels as his coach, and Top Flight as his trainees, to a great reaction from his hometown crowd.

Max Caster vs. Scorpio Sky (w/ Christopher Daniels)

Caster jumped Sky to start the match, but it was less than 15 seconds before Sky turned it around, hit a TKO, and pinned Caster as the fans were chanting “Welcome back!” at him.

It is really great to see Scorpio Sky back. I had been wondering where he was, and he looked in incredible shape here.

–Ricochet was with Lexy Nair and he refused to expose what he was talking about with the Gates of Agony last week, saying that actions speak louder than words, and led the camera back to a laid out Blake Christian and Lee Johnson, who were destroyed by the Gates of Agony. It seems Ricochet has found his crew, and it wasn’t Christian and Johnson, but Ricochet did say they have to earn his respect.

Willow Nightingale vs. Viperess

Nigel McGuinness said that it is impossible to hate Nightingale, saying he tried his best, but failed. That was a great line. Kris Statlander was shown watching the match backstage while Wheeler Yuta walked up, and Statlander insisted that she did not need Yuta’s help as Nightingale hit a pounce on Viperess and a powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale

–Renee Paquette walked up to Anthony Bowens backstage, saying that his match did not go as he wanted, and before he could talk, Billy Gunn walked up and said that he wasn’t out there because he believed that Bowens didn’t want him there. The division between them seemingly mended when Bowens said he wanted results now, and Gunn said that he just needed to trust in him, and they would get through this.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

McGuinness claimed Turbo Floyd was one of the Garbage Pail Kids, with another gem of a line. The Outrunners and FTR broke down into a brawl early on, with The Outrunners sending FTR to the floor. Hathaway started shouting at Tony Schiavone in response to this, which caused Schiavone to exclaim, “You’re trouble!” I love Tony Schiavone. Truth Magnum hit an old school headscissors takedown on Cash Wheeler before Wheeler tagged out to Harwood.

As Harwood beat on Floyd, FTR pulled some old school tag team tactics with the abdominal stretch and holding each other’s hands, and switching partners behind the referee’s back. As the referee turned around, he saw Wheeler in the ring, who is noticeably not bald, so twin magic did not work here, and the referee demanded Wheeler leave the ring. That was hilarious. Floyd managed to tag out after reversing a suplex by Wheeler. Wheeler stopped the SOB Elbow and they took Floyd to the floor, smashing his leg between the ring steps and the post.

Harwood punched Truth Magnum right between the eyes, and he started bleeding just above the bridge of his nose. Wheeler hit a knee breaker on the ring steps on Floyd as Magnum was bleeding everywhere in the ring thanks to Harwood. Harwood hit a brainbuster and tagged out to Wheeler. Magnum dodged a dropkick in the corner from Wheeler, kicked Harwood as he went for back body drop, and almost made the tag, but Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron preventing the tag.

FTR hit a double team DDT on Magnum, and Wheeler put his foot on Magnum’s chest for a pinfall attempt, but Magnum kicked out and fought off a superplex attempt in the corner. Harwood blocked him from a tag, and both men hit clotheslines as Magnum fought out of the corner and were down. Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron again, but Floyd hit a strike on Harwood, letting Magnum roll him up for a 2-count. FTR then hit a powerbomb into a neckbreaker for a 2-count, and Harwood missed a Harley Race style headbutt and Magnum finally got the tag.

Floyd came in and had trouble bodyslaming Harwood, but hit a lariat and a bodyslam after great effort. The SOB elbow saw them both able to stand and they hit it on Wheeler for a 2-count as the fans started to go nuts. Wheeler hit a dragon screw leg whip on Floyd, leading to Floyd being on the apron. Floyd hit a sunset flip on Wheeler, but Wheeler kicked out. The Outrunners hit the Shatter Machine and almost got the win, but Harwood barely made the save. Wheeler floated over the back of Floyd and Floyd turned into a Shatter Machine for the pinfall, as the camera showed Hathaway holding the foot of Magnum, preventing him from making the save.

Match Result: FTR

This was an incredible tag team match. Both teams work together well, and just know what to do to tell a compelling story throughout the match. All 4 guys worked very hard, and FTR gave The Outrunners everything before beating them, including an excuse for the loss. While I think it might have been a good call to have The Outrunners go over here, I don’t think this loss hurt them. That said, being the team that comes close and always loses is no way for them to stay over long term. They need to do something with these guys, and it felt like they were heating back up here in this match, so I hope AEW takes advantage of it.

TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Melo), Queen Aminata, & Thunder Rosa vs. Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, Athena, & Thekla (w/ Penelope Ford)

Thekla started the match with Aminata, hitting a headscissors and a strike. Aminata hit a slap that rocked Thekla, who smiled and tagged out to Julia Hart. Hart did not last long before Rosa and Bayne ended up in the ring, with Rosa hitting a dropkick that didn’t even move Bayne. Bayne dumped Rosa into the corner, hit a chop, and missed a corner charge. Rosa hit a dropkick from the top rope that dropped Bayne.

Aminata hit a flying double stomp on Bayne, but Bayne stood up and Aminata tagged back out to Rosa to begin to double team Bayne, who hit a flying clothesline that dropped both wrestlers. Bayne hit a running helluva kick in the corner and tagged out to Thekla. Rosa and Thekla exchanged hard shots in the middle of the ring until Thekla locked her version of the tarantula in the corner on Rosa. Anna Jay saved Rosa from a submission, and Thekla squared off with Jay as Hart had Rosa in the opposite corner, with Hart and Thekla both suplexing their opponents, then Hart moonsaulting into the feet of Thunder Rosa.

Tay Melo tagged in and hit a black hole slam and three helluva kicks in the corner on Thekla. Anna Jay came in and hit a gory bomb into a knee from Tay Melo, but the heels broke up the pinfall. The match broke down into everyone hitting big moves, including Athena sending Jay into a headlock from Melo, elbowing Melo, and forcing Melo to accidentally DDT her own partner. Rosa and Athena then brawled all around ringside, setting up their match for Friday’s ROH PPV.

Anna Jay hit a DDT on Bayne, but Penelope Ford distracted the referee and Skye Blue sent Melo into the guardrail behind the referee’s back. Bayne missed a spear attempt on Jay, hitting the ring post, but Ford distracted her and Bayne hit a flying clothesline and huge powerbomb for the win. I like that running powerbomb as her finish more than the F5.

Match Result: Megan Bayne, Julia Hart, Thekla, & Athena

–Another Alex Windsor hype video aired, as she discussed her torn ACL, and how she refused to give up, wanting to show her son that she can win gold. This was very good.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. Daniel Garcia (w/ Matt Menard)

Fletcher and Garcia started the match exchanging holds and a brief dance off. There was a very loud piped in “This is awesome!” chant that the crowd was clearly not chanting. I imagine they were chanting something very rude about Don Callis, as Callis was upset, and Garcia flipped off Callis. Garcia sent Fletcher to the floor, but he ate a pump kick from Fletcher. Callis stood up and hugged Fletcher, which proved to be a distraction that allowed Garcia to drop Fletcher.

Garcia and Cole bumped fists, but Fletcher sprung back up and sent Garcia into the guardrail like a lawn dart and he came up covered in blood. When the came back from the break, a bloody Garcia was fighting on the apron over a suplex, and Garcia hit a German suplex on the apron before hitting a shotgun dropkick as Fletcher was sitting on a chair against the guardrail. Garcia hit a superplex and rolled over into a pinfall attempt, but only got a 2-count. Fletcher hit a superkick on Garcia and a Last Ride powerbomb for a 2-count.

Fletcher went for a corner charge, but Garcia took the leg and locked on the dragon tamer, but Fletcher reached back as Garcia leaned back and put him in a headlock, forcing the break of the whole. Garcia stood up and tried to suplex Fletcher, and both men spilled over the top rope to the floor. Fletcher hit a half nelson suplex on the floor on Garcia, who seemed to be in a daze as Fletcher picked him up. Fletcher picked Garcia up and powerbombed him into the apron, and Cole got flashbacks to when Fletcher did that to him. Cole stood up and started encouraging Garcia to get up, but Flechter ran in with a helluva kick and hit a vertical drop brainbuster on Garcia for the win.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher

This was an awesome match, start to finish. Fletcher and Garcia have excellent chemistry, and Fletcher continues to be one of the hottest rising stars in the company. I think Fletcher should probably win the TNT title from Adam Cole at All In, and then go from there. He should absolutely be factored into the main event scene when Ospreay finally wins the title, presumably next year, and I would have Fletcher beat him for the title after Ospreay’s run is over. We shall see if that is what will happen over the next few years, but it seems Fletcher is destined to be a big time main eventer for AEW.

Final Thoughts

While none of the very top stars were on this show, this was nonetheless an excellent edition of AEW Collision, with several matches being setup for All In. Even though it is a B-show, it was a B-show that advanced many of the midcard stories leading into the PPV, which is exactly what they should be doing with Collision every week (with the occasional A-level episode). This week’s show is definitely worth a watch for the FTR/Outrunners match and Fletcher/Garcia alone.

Three matches officially added to AEW Double or Nothing

Three new matches are official for Double or Nothing.

During AEW Collision, it was confirmed that Nigel McGuiness will team with Daniel Garcia to take on FTR. On the most recent episode of Dynamite, Garcia told McGuiness he was going to go after FTR with or without him, but it would be an honor to fight by his side. Stokley Hathaway came out and distracted the duo long enough into getting sneak attacked from behind by FTR. Daddy Magic came out for the save with a crowbar.

On Collision, McGuiness announced he would team with Garcia at Double or Nothing.

It was also announced that Ricochet will face Mark Briscoe in a stretcher match. On Dynamite, Ricochet was about to lay out Zach Gowen with another spirit gun when Mark Briscoe came to the ring to make the save. In a segment that aired after Dynamite, Briscoe issued the challenge for a stretcher match, which was made official Saturday.

After both teams made it clear they wanted to go after the Hurt Syndicate, Cru and Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes battled on Collision, with Guevara & Rhodes picking up the win to become the new number one contenders. It was soon announced the match would take place next Sunday.

Adam Cole wins TNT title at AEW Dynasty

It took a match with no time limit and no outside interference, but Adam Cole finally bested Daniel Garcia to win the TNT title at Sunday’s AEW Dynasty.

Garcia was firmly in control of the first half of the match, but Cole later hit a nasty looking suplex on the ringside steps following by a Panama Sunrise on the floor to take things over. He later picked up the win after hitting back-to-back Panama Sunrises on the inside of the ring and then his running Boom knee strike for the victory.

It’s the first AEW title of any kind for Cole who held the Ring of Honor Tag Team titles with MJF in 2023. It’s his first singles title since losing the WWE NXT title in July 2020 after a year-plus run.

As noted on commentary, the win came 17 years to the day the 35-year-old began his career.

The two went to a no contest on an early-March Collision followed by a 20-minute draw later in the month, also on Collision. Those situations led to Sunday’s stipulations.

The loss ends the 26-year-old Garcia’s first AEW title run that began at last November’s Full Gear with his win over Jack Perry. He successfully defended the title seven times heading into Sunday.

Adam Cole, Daniel Garcia segment added to AEW Collision

A sit-down interview segment has been announced for tonight’s taped episode of AEW Collision.

The show was filmed Wednesday in Peoria following Dynamite, but one recently announced segment did not take place in front of the live crowd. A sit-down interview with Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole is now scheduled for the show, airing just one night before their TNT Championship match at AEW Dynasty.

Also added to the lineup is another Max Caster open challenge. The self-proclaimed “Best Wrestler Alive” has yet to score a victory in any of these bouts.
