Hangman Page to face Jon Moxley in AEW Dynamite trios match

Four days after headlining All In, Hangman Page and Jon Moxley will meet in the ring again.

A trios match with Page, Powerhouse Hobbs & Mark Briscoe facing the Death Riders (Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) will take place this Wednesday on the All In fallout edition of AEW Dynamite. The match was announced by Tony Khan in a social media post this afternoon.

Page triumphed over Moxley in a Texas death match at All In, kicking off the second AEW World Championship reign of his career and freeing the title from the Death Riders. Moxley had kept the championship belt hidden away during his nine months as champion.

Following his title win, Page sent out a thank you to the AEW fans and indicated that he will speak on Dynamite this week.

“Thank you for everything,” Page wrote. “I dont have the words to do the feeling justice because i havent slept in four days but ill try to find them by wednesday.”

Wednesday’s Dynamite is being held at Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and marks the beginning of a six-show AEW residency at the venue. This is the first match announced for the episode.

First entrants for men’s & women’s Casino Gauntlet matches locked for AEW All In

Image: AEW

The first entrants for both the men’s and women’s Casino Gauntlet matches at next month’s AEW All In Texas are now confirmed following Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

In a four-way, Mark Briscoe earned the right to enter the men’s gauntlet first, outlasting Konosuke Takeshita, Roderick Strong and ROH World Champion Bandido. The end came when Briscoe pinned Strong with the Froggy Bow elbow after Strong had just hit Bandido with the End of Heartache and was vulnerable.

Earlier in the night, MJF revealed that he will be in a Casino Gauntlet qualifier on next week’s Dynamite and then was confronted by Briscoe because he was taking up so much time. MJF then ran him down verbally before Briscoe said he had empathy for him based on his past, leading him to make a penis/”kosher pickle” joke.

On the women’s side, Kris Statlander nabbed the first spot in the women’s gauntlet by pinning friend/foe Willow Nightingale in a bout that also included Thunder Rosa and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.

Nightingale looked to have the match won when Marina Shafir of the Death Riders came out to distract her. Wheeler Yuta then appeared behind her but got pounced for his trouble. Statlander then took advantage, hitting Nightingale with Staturday Night Fever for the pin and win. Statlander has been recently courted by the Death Riders, but she has yet to accept.

The winners of each match earn future World title matches in their respective divisions. The advantage of having an early spot is that the match can end at any time.

Kazuchika Okada vs. Mark Briscoe added to AEW Grand Slam Mexico

Mark Briscoe wants Okada.

In a promo that was put up on AEW social media, Mark Briscoe talked about the events of AEW Summer Blockbuster which saw Kazuchika Okada viciously attack Kenny Omega. He said he considered Omega a friend and even teamed with him recently, saying he had his back. He said he thought Okada was better than that and in the name of fairness, he was challenging him right then and there for a match at Grand Slam Mexico. He promised to cause Okada pain.

Soon after, Tony Khan made the match for Arena Mexico official:

Okada and Omega had their All In contract signing on Wednesday at AEW Summer Blockbuster. At first everything appeared to be fine between the two future opponents, but when Don Callis arrived it was revealed everything was a setup. The distraction by Callis allowed Okada to attack, targeting his stomach area where he recently had diverticulitis surgery. As Omega was being stretchered out, Okada hit an elbow off the top rope onto the stretcher, causing further injury to Omega.

Here is the updated lineup for Grand Slam Mexico:

AEW Grand Slam Mexico card | Wednesday, June 18

  • CMLL World Women’s Champion Zeuxis defends against Mercedes Mone

Mark Briscoe challenges Ricochet to AEW Double or Nothing stretcher match

Mark Briscoe and Ricochet will continue their rivalry with a stipulation match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Following Dynamite this week, AEW uploaded a promo with Briscoe challenging Ricochet to face him in a stretcher match at the Sunday, May 25 pay-per-view. The match has not been officially announced yet with Ricochet still needing to respond to the challenge.

“Ricochet, you have been the perpetual thorn in my side, the proverbial chap of my ass for the better part of two months,” Briscoe said. “So it’s about time we ended this. I’m tired of looking at you, you bald-headed bully.”

On the Beach Break edition of Dynamite this week, Ricochet defeated Zach Gowen but was chased away by Briscoe when he tried to continue bullying Gowen after the match. Briscoe said he wants to send Ricochet to the hospital as revenge for what he did to Gowen.

Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona will be the venue for Double or Nothing. There is still one Dynamite episode and two Collisions remaining before the PPV.

All Star eight-man tag match booked for next AEW Dynamite

An All-Star eight-man tag featuring some of AEW’s top stars is set for the next episode of Dynamite.

Kenny Omega will team with Speedball Mike Bailey, Mark Briscoe, and Kevin Knight to take on The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Ricochet. The match was made official on this week’s episode of Collision. In his tweet making the announcement, Tony Khan noted this would be the first time Omega and Okada have met in the ring since 2018.

After Swerve Strickland defeated Blake Christian in the opening match of this week’s Collision, The Young Bucks jumped him, laying out Swerve with the EVP trigger. They went for the Meltzer Driver but were interrupted by Omega, who made the save by laying out Nicholas with a snap dragon suplex. He attempted the v-trigger, but Matthew pulled Nicholas from the ring before Omega could lay him out.

It was also announced that both The Hurt Syndicate and MJF will be appearing on next week’s program. MJF in recent weeks has attempted to align himself with the group, but Bobby Lashley is the lone holdout that doesn’t trust whatever MJF has up his sleeve.

The AEW Dynamite lineup for April 30:

AEW Dynamite, Wednesday, April 30 —

  • Owen Hart Foundation men’s tournament semifinals: Hangman Adam Page vs. Kyle Fletcher
  • All-Star 8-man tag: Kenny Omega, Speedball Mike Bailey, Mark Briscoe, and Kevin Knight vs. The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Ricochet
  • The Hurt Syndicate will appear live
  • MJF will appear live

AEW Collision live results: International title eliminator tournament continues

The eight-man tournament to determine who faces AEW International Champion Kenny Omega at April’s Dynasty continues on tonight’s live AEW Collision from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The featured bout will pit former Ring of Honor Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata against Ricochet. The latter was defeated by Swerve Strickland at last Sunday’s Revolution while Shibata has been teaming with The Opps as of late.

The other bout will see former Ring of Honor World Champion Mark Briscoe against Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family. Davis was involved heavily in the Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher cage match last Sunday while Briscoe was in tag team action on the pre-show.

In a rematch from last week, former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR will look to go 1-1 against Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong of the Undisputed Kingdom.

The main card is rounded out by former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa going heads-up against the surging Megan Bayne.

**********

We’re on the short track to Dynasty, with this week’s Collision stopping at The Virgin Hotels Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. Collision started with words from the International Title Tournament competitors, The Undisputed Kingdom, & FTR. Sir Elton John kicked off the show properly, and Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call as always.

International Title Eliminator Tournament Match – Ricochet defeated Katsuyori Shibata

This was a solid opener with good energy to kick off the show. Ricochet gets a nice win to bounce back after his loss at Revolution.

The winner of this match joins Orange Cassidy & Mike Bailey in Wednesday’s four-way tournament final. Despite both men spending several years in New Japan Pro Wrestling, this is the first time these two have met in a singles match, and only the second time they’ve ever shared a ring together.

Shibata, who called Ricochet “baldie” in his cold open comments, scored the first strike with a shot to the leg. Ricochet took the upper hand with a springboard clothesline before throwing Shibata around on the floor. Ricochet landed a standing moonsault for a nearfall as we went to a commercial break.

The two men were trading strikes as we came back from the commercial, with Ricochet dropping Shibata with a dropkick. Ricochet sat with Shibata and tried to hurt him with strikes, but Shibata put on the Iron Claw – as taught to him by the Von Erichs – before smacking Ricochet on his bald head. Shibata followed with a suplex for a nearfall.

The two men traded suplexes before Shibata caught a flying Ricochet and put him in an STF that forced Ricochet into the ropes. Ricochet picked Shibata up and hit the Benadryller and a Lionsault for a nearfall, then hit a standing Shooting Star Press for another nearfall. Shibata locked on a sleeper hold, and after kicking out of a stacked pin, hit an Ushigoroshi in honor of his long-time friend and IWGP World Champion Hirooki Goto. Ricochet ducked the Penalty Kick and rolled Shibata up, then put his feet on the ropes as the referee was counting to score the tainted win.

During this match, it was announced that there would be special Slam Dunk Saturday and Slam Dunk Sunday editions of Collision coming on immediately after next weekend’s college basketball coverage on TNT.

After a recap of Dynamite, The Don Callis Family killed some extras in the back.

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm was backstage, ready to collide with Megan Bayne. She called out Bayne, as well as anyone else who wanted to challenge her for her title.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Griff Garrison (w/ The Frat House)

Hobbs walked out through the crowd. The Frat House is ROH’s newest stable, featuring Garrison, Preston Vance, & Jacked Jameson. Hobbs bumped all three of them and beat Garrison with a main event spinebuster. Vance and Jameson circled Hobbs, but The Outrunners came out to run them off.

Lexy Nair’s guest at this time was Thunder Rosa. Rosa was tired of Megan Bayne’s disrespect before getting jumped by Bayne and laid out in the back.

International Title Eliminator Tournament Match – Mark Davis defeated Mark Briscoe

A surprising result here, as Mark Davis gets the win with some Callis Family assistance. Since Omega took the title from a Callis Family member, I wouldn’t write off Davis as a potential challenger, although that wouldn’t exactly be a marquee matchup.

The winner of this match joins Orange Cassidy, Mike Bailey, & Ricochet in Wednesday’s four-way tournament final.

Briscoe used his redneck kung-fu to get the jump on Davis, but Davis came back with a big back body drop. Briscoe ripped Davis over the ropes, then followed him to the floor with a dive. Briscoe sent Davis into the post, then launched himself off of a chair into Davis on the floor as we went to a commercial break.

We came back to Briscoe biting Davis off of the top rope before landing a missile dropkick. Briscoe and Davis hammered each other with chops, but Davis wouldn’t drop after repeated lariats. Davis caught Briscoe with a Tiger Suplex and a running knee for a nearfall. Davis followed Briscoe to the floor, but Briscoe caught him with a running blockbuster off the apron. Briscoe then climbed the guardrail and hit a Cactus Elbow.

Briscoe hit a lariat and a Fisherman’s Buster for a nearfall. Davis backdropped out of a Jay Driller attempt before snatching Briscoe up in a piledriver for a nearfall. Briscoe smacked Davis off the top rope into a Death Valley Driver. Briscoe went up for the Froggy Bow, but the Murder Machines came out. Archer took the referee as Cage knocked Briscoe off the top rope into a boot from Davis. Davis hit his pendulum piledriver for the win.

The Murder Machines defeated multiple victims

After a commercial, The Murder Machines dragged four corpses to the ring and killed them all. I don’t even know which ones were in the match, and none of them got names. They pinned one with the chokebomb. They continued killing before Mark Briscoe came out for revenge after the last match. Powerhouse Hobbs came out to help, brawling with Archer to the back as Briscoe and Cage brawled through the crowd to the back.

Swerve Strickland Town Hall

Swerve Strickland came out to address the crowd. He recapped his last week, noting that Prince Nana was at home safeguarding the Embassy robe. He reminded everyone that he won the AEW World Title at Dynasty last year, reigning as champion for four months, and that he’ll be challenging for the World Title at Dynasty this year in a nice coincidence.

Strickland talked about his relationship with Cope, as a professional inspiration and as someone whose helped him to become more dangerous over the years. Strickland said that he would run through him if he was in his way, as champion or challenger. Strickland then talked about Jon Moxley, putting him over for being a four-time World Champion but noting his complete desperation to stay on top. Strickland said to catch a maniac, you had to send a maniac, and Strickland promised to take the World Title back at Dynasty.

Jon Moxley made his way through the crowd and dropped Strickland with a crowbar. Moxley laid Strickland out with a Curb Stomp before leaving through the crowd. The camera followed him outside, with Moxley saying that he was tired of people like Strickland and Jay White trying to close him into a corner. Moxley said that on Dynamite, Cope was a dead man.

Hologram & Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) defeated Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty, Shawn Dean, & Carlie Bravo)

There was a lot going on here.

The announcers said that this was a stand-by match. Lio Rush & Action Andretti, now known as The Cru came out to watch the match from the stage. Harleygram was also watching from backstage. Hologram and Moriarty started on the mat before Dante Martin and Dean tagged in. Andretti got in Dante’s face, allowing Dean to score with a suplex as we went into the commercial.

After the break, STP had Dante isolated. In the back, The Beast Mortos found Harleygram and stared her down. Can’t blame him. We got a sight of Dralistico on Spanish commentary before Dante tagged in his brother. Darius ran wild before Dean and Bravo double teamed him. The match broke down into a Pier Six brawl before Top Flight got the win with a shotgun dropkick into a German Suplex. Top Flight stared down The Cru at ringside as Hologram stared down Dralistico at the Spanish commentary desk.

In a voiceover promo, Alex Abrahantes challenged La Faccion Ingobernable to a tag team match on behalf of Hologram & Komander.

Megan Bayne defeated Thunder Rosa

Bayne is getting the Monster of the Month treatment here, leaving everyone laid out. She’s been fine, but I wouldn’t call her impressive in her outings so far.

Thunder Rosa came out with her ribs taped after the attack by Bayne earlier tonight. Rosa came out firing, hammering Bayne with chops before Bayne dropped her with a shoulder block. Rosa fought off a charging Bayne in the corner, but Bayne caught her and dumped her with an overhead throw. Bayne booted Rosa off of the apron as we went to a commercial.

Bayne and Rosa were hammering each other with strikes as we came back from the break. Rosa sent Bayne into the corner, then knocked her down with a shotgun dropkick. Rosa sent herself and Bayne to the floor with a seated dropkick against the ropes. Rosa sent Bayne off the post and the stairs. They brawled onto the ramp, where Bayne dropped Rosa with the F-5.

Bayne got back into the ring to take the countout, but Rosa beat the count. Bayne hit her with another F-5 to score the win over the former AEW Women’s World Champion. After the match, Bayne put Rosa in an Argentine Backbreaker when Toni Storm came out to make the save. Bayne dropped Storm with the F-5 as well, leaving the champion laid out as referees and Kris Statlander came out to ward her off.

The announcers ran down the card for next week’s Dynamite, now featuring Megan Bayne vs. Kris Statlander. A TNT Title Match was announced for Slam Dunk Saturday, as Daniel Garcia vs. Adam Cole was booked with everyone banned from ringside. Hologram & Komander vs. The Beast Mortos & Dralistico was announced for Slam Dunk Sunday.

FTR (w/Daniel Garcia) defeated The Undisputed Kingdom (Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) (w/Adam Cole)

I love this tag team match serving as a build of sorts for the TNT Title match next Saturday. That’s why I’m always in favor of singles stars having tag partners or associates for reasons. This match started out roughly, with Strong and Wheeler on different pages, but they rounded into form and pulled together a quality main event. FTR continuing to refuse handshakes is a point of interest here, even with Garcia shaking Cole’s hand.

Garcia and Cole joined the commentary desk, in support of their respective trios partners. O’Reilly and Harwood started, with O’Reilly forcing Harwood to the ropes while attempting an ankle lock. Wheeler tagged in but got isolated in the Kingdom corner. Strong and Wheeler kept whipping each other into the ropes, leading to Wheeler dumping Strong on the ropes and isolating him for a short while.

Strong dumped Wheeler to the floor, but Wheeler came back in to distract the referee on a tag, keeping Strong in the ring. Wires got crossed on a Hart Attack attempt, but FTR eventually got it as we went to a commercial. After the break, Strong dropped Harwood with an Olympic Slam to get the tag into O’Reilly. O’Reilly immediately got Wheeler in an ankle lock, then dropped Harwood with a side suplex when he tried to break it up.

O’Reilly hooked Wheeler in the ankle lock again, with Strong locking Harwood in an ankle lock on the apron. Harwood shoved Strong into the post before breaking up the ankle lock with a diving headbutt. An FTR Doomsday Device was cut off by O’Reilly, but FTR got him in position for the Steiner Brother Bulldog for a nearfall. Strong cut off a Shatter Machine, then drilled him with a jumping knee for a nearfall.

The match broke down into a Pier Six brawl, with the Kingdom hitting the Total Elimination for a nearfall broken up by Wheeler. Harwood’s chest was bleeding as the four men got up and swung. FTR scored with the Shatter Machine on Strong, but O’Reilly pulled Harwood off the cover. Wheeler dove onto O’Reilly, but Harwood’s second cover only got a nearfall as the referee saw Strong’s foot on the ropes this time.

The ring announcer made the fifteen-minute call, as five minutes remained in the time limit. FTR went for the PowerPlex, but Strong got his knees up on the splash and rolled him up for a nearfall. The Total Elimination got cut off, and FTR hit a second Shatter Machine to score the win. Both Cole and Garcia went to the ring to help their friends and ended up staring each other down. Cole & Garcia shook hands, but when FTR were offered a handshake from the Kingdom, they refused.

Bobby Lashley vs. Mark Briscoe added to AEW Dynamite

A new match is set for this Wednesday.

AEW announced on social media that Mark Briscoe will do battle with Bobby Lashley following previous confrontations.

“After a series of altercations between @SussexCoChicken + Hurt Syndicate’s @FightBobby culminated in a Christmas standoff, they’ll fight 1 on 1 THIS WEDNESDAY, “ AEW wrote.

Briscoe previously came face to face against Lashley ahead of his match against Shelton Benjamin in the Continental Classic in November. Benjamin ended up with the win, but ultimately didn’t advance to the semifinals.

Briscoe most recently wrestled on this past weekend’s Collision, losing to Daniel Garcia in a match that was for the TNT Championship. Lashley’s last match was on Dynamite where he and Shelton Benjamin picked up the win over The Acclaimed, who have been teasing dissension.

Here is the updated lineup for Wednesday:

  • Kenny Omega appearance
  • MJF appearance
  • Casino gauntlet match for an AEW World title match on the January 15th Dynamite
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Mark Briscoe

AEW Collision live results: Two title matches, Rated FTR vs. The Learning Tree

The first TNT/Max simulcast edition of AEW Collision airs live from Charlotte, North Carolina, with two title matches and Rated FTR looking for their second win in four days.

Fresh off strong showings in the Continental Classic, TNT Champion Daniel Garcia defends against former ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe in a tournament rematch.

After earning a shot with their win over Top Flight, Lio Rush & Action Andretti will challenge AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party for the titles.

After defeating the Death Riders in their first trios match, FTR & Cope will unite again to face Chris Jericho, Big Bill & Bryan Keith of the Learning Tree.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will take on Deonna Purrazzo.

After announcing this will be his last run in the ring, Jeff Jarrett’s quest for an AEW World title shot begins tonight.

An appearance from the legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Express rounds out the main card.

**********

Collision started with the cold open promos, featuring Mark Briscoe, Daniel Garcia, The Learning Tree, & Rated FTR. Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting came back as the intro song, as Sir Elton John made his return after a suspension for a backstage scuffle. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call as always.

AEW TNT Title Match – Daniel Garcia (c) defeated Mark Briscoe

(This was a fun start to the show. After entering the Continental Classic immediately after winning the title, Daniel Garcia’s TNT Title reign truly kicked off here. Charlotte was behind Briscoe on this night, and Garcia rolled with the punches and let Briscoe get a ton of shine here. I wouldn’t panic about the weaker reaction for Garcia, but they do need to give him something to sink his teeth into as TNT Champ moving forward.)

This is Garcia’s first defense of the title. Briscoe earned this title shot by beating Garcia in the Continental Classic, then challenged Garcia at the Worlds End Zero Hour. Matt Menard joined the commentary team as per usual for Daniel Garcia matches.

The 113th TNT Title match in company history began with champion and challenger fighting to a stalemate. Briscoe kept wanting Garcia to fight on the floor, but Garcia refused to leave the ring. Briscoe got in the ring and took the advantage over Garcia with chops, chopping him off of the top turnbuckle to the floor. Briscoe hit a blockbuster to send us to a commercial.

Both men jockeyed for position on a suplex attempt before Briscoe suplexed Garcia over the top rope, with both men tumbling to the floor. They beat the countout and traded strikes in the ring, with Briscoe laying out Garcia with a lariat. Briscoe scored with another lariat before getting a nearfall with a fisherman’s buster. Garcia wouldn’t allow a Jay Driller, so Briscoe hit a powerbomb instead for a nearfall.

More strikes were traded, with Garcia scoring with a shotgun dropkick. Garcia hit the ten punches in the corner before hitting a piledriver for a nearfall. Garcia fought out of the Jay Driller again, transitioning into the Dragon Tamer to force Briscoe to the ropes. The two fought to the top rope as the ring announcer announced 3 minutes remaining in the time limit.

Briscoe hit the Froggy Bow and the Jay Driller, but Garcia got his foot on the rope on the cover attempt. The 2 minute call came as Briscoe went for the Cut Throat Driver, but Garcia fought out and caught Briscoe with the jackknife pin to get the win and retain the title. After the match, Briscoe shook hands with Garcia, noting that he came just that close to beating him.

Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, & Marina Shafir were backstage. Yuta was upset at Jay White getting involved in their business and was ranting at him before Moxley hushed him and changed the subject to FTR. He considered their issues with FTR squared after their attack on them in December, but FTR came back with Adam Copeland on their side. Moxley warned Cope and FTR that if they kept walking this path, they would find nothing good.

We got a recap of Jeff Jarrett’s promo on Dynamite, where he stated his goal to become the AEW World Champion in 2025.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Aaron Solo

Jarrett made quick work of Solo, hitting him with two Strokes to win.

Lio Rush & Action Andretti were walking backstage ahead of their tag team title match tonight.

(Just a small gripe, I’m not sure what this shot accomplishes. We know there’s a tag title match tonight. Why do we need to see them walking?)

We got a recap of Ricochet’s attack on Swerve Strickland.

(I do enjoy Ricochet being the Carrie of AEW, getting bullied past the point of no return.)

AEW World Tag Team Title Match – Private Party (Quen & Zay) (c) defeated Action Andretti & Lio Rush

(A solid TV defense of the titles. Give Private Party a couple more of these nice little defenses and you’ll have something going with them. The Top Flight/Andretti & Rush story would benefit from ending soon and moving them around in the division.)

This is Private Party’s second defense of the titles.

Private Party had the advantage early, but the challengers cut off a Poetry In Motion attempt and double slammed Quen into the barricade. Zay was left to be double teamed through the commercial break before fighting to his corner for the tag. Quen ran wild on both challengers, scoring a nearfall by hitting a Death Valley Driver to Rush on top of Andretti.

Private Party went for Gin And Juice, but Quen’s back gave out before he could elevate for it. Andretti & Rush came back, with Andretti hitting a Spanish Fly on Quen. The challengers hit Gin and Juice on Quen for a nearfall before noticing Top Flight watching at ringside. They went to the top rope, but Private Party called them to the mat to throw fists.

After a quadruple down, Quen sent Rush to the floor to start a dive train. Quen hit a big Shooting Star Press onto Rush for a nearfall, broken up by an Andretti springboard 450. Andretti stuffed a sunset flip attempt and tried to hold onto Rush’s arms for a pin, but Dante Martin broke the grip and allowed Quen to reverse the roll-up for the win.

We get a recap of Darby Allin’s war with the Death Riders, ending with footage of them taking Allin out on the final Rampage in Hammerstein Ballroom.

Adam Copeland was backstage with Lexy Nair, who asked him about his issues with the Death Riders. Copeland said that his issues were because they attacked his friends and claimed that no one wanted to be AEW World Champion. Chris Jericho walked in and shouted about his accomplishments before Copeland told him that he already respected Jericho. Copeland ran down their history together, with Jericho claiming to remember none of it. Copeland called Jericho and a**hole, and Jericho called Cope a dope.

Toni Storm defeated Deonna Purrazzo (w/ Taya Valkyrie)

(This Toni Storm goofiness just doesn’t work for me. She’s been back for weeks, and instead of restarting her feud with Mariah May, she’s got amnesia. I get we need to kill time before the Australia show in February, but maybe don’t bring her back until we’re closer to the show? Or find another way to keep them apart? On another note, I don’t know what this Vendetta group is supposed to be accomplishing, other than giving these two pin eaters something to do on the weekends.)

The two fought on the mat before Purrazzo tagged Storm with a slap. She sent Storm to the floor, where a Valkyrie distraction led to a crossbody from Purrazzo to send the match to break. After the commercial, Storm made her comeback and locked on an STF. Storm went for a hip attack, but Valkyrie distracted her. Purrazzo put on a Fujiwara armbar, forcing Storm to the ropes. The two traded strikes before Storm hit a DDT for a two count. Storm clocked Valkyrie, then pinned Purrazzo with an inside cradle.

We got video from after Dynamite with Christopher Daniels trying to get through to Hangman Page. Daniels told Page that he could be World Champion if he could control himself, but Page rejected Daniels’ advice. He tore into Daniels, calling him an old man clinging to a sport that left him behind. He told Daniels that he should’ve retired five years ago when he still had a shred of dignity, then slapped him in the face. Page walked away before Daniels jumped him in a frenzy. Daniels got bloody and left Hangman lying, with Hangman muttering to himself as he pulled himself to his feet.

$100,000 High Speed Collision Four Way – Brian Cage defeated Dante Martin (w/ Leila Grey), Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes), The Beast Mortos

(This was awesome. Just four guys going out there and fighting for some cash. Komander was spectacular here, as he had two great bases to work with in Cage and Mortos. The mercenary Cage gets the big check in the end.)

During Cage’s entrance, we got video of his Callis Family teammate Konosuke Takeshita’s NEVER Openweight Championship win at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 earlier today.

The action was fast and furious to start, with Martin and Komander flying onto the big guys to start. Those two got in a pinning predicament before Mortos broke it up, but Komander hit a triple-rotation headscissors to send him to the floor before hitting a double-jump corkscrew dive to Mortos and Cage on the floor. Martin hit his own double-jump dive to the floor before Lio Rush jumped Martin and sent him into the barricade as payback for earlier in the night.

Back in the ring, Mortos squished Komander with a pop-up Samoan Drop before Cage dropped Mortos with a spinny facebuster deal. Look, I don’t know every move name. After a commercial, Martin tried to fight his way back into the ring before Cage booted him down. We got a lot of minutes of a lot of moves, and Cage pinned Martin with a Weapon X.

FTR were backstage with The Rock N’ Roll Express, who brought up the angle from 2021 where FTR hit Ricky Morton with a spike piledriver. Harwood apologized for that before The Outrunners entered the frame, complaining about gas money they were owed from 1982. Morton apologized, and the Outrunners did the Predator handshake with the Rock N’ Rolls.

(The only way this could have been better is if it was in front of the crowd.)

Rated FTR (Cope, Cash Wheeler, & Dax Harwood) defeated The Learning Tree (Big Bill, Bryan Keith & Chris Jericho)

(A trademark Collision trios main event, as Adam Copeland fills in the role of FTR’s trios partner. I’m of the opinion that Big Bill has the tools to be a player in AEW, and I would spin him off as a singles and let Jericho & Keith stick around as a tag team. The post-match angles with the Death Riders continues to miss the mark, as them tying up the Rock N’ Roll Express just felt goofy instead of menacing.)

As someone who has to quickly write names down, I’m a fan of Cope. Cope and Jericho stared each other down to start the match, but Jericho tagged out before they fought. The first third of the match was Big Bill being just too damn big and handling FTR by himself. After a commercial, Jericho & Cope tagged in and faced off to a big reaction.

We got a lot of action, including a Big Bill powerbomb on Harwood, before Cope hit Jericho with the Impaler. Cope went for the spear but Jericho hit the Codebreaker for a nearfall. The Learning Tree isolated Cope in their corner for a while before he got a tag into Wheeler. Wheeler ran wild on Big Bill, finally taking him down with a tornado DDT.

Rated FTR hit Bill with a Double PowerPlex – well, a single Plex and a double Power. A triple Shatter machine got broken up, with Bill hitting a Bossman Slam. Jericho & Harwood had dual submissions on before Cope and Bill broke them up. Cope sent Bill to the floor and hit a big dive to the floor, with Harwood following with a big suicida. Harwood & Jericho were left, but as Harwood went up for a diving headbutt, Keith hit Harwood with the ROH Title for a long nearfall.

Harwood moved out of the way of a Lionsault, and FTR hit Jericho with a Shatter Machine. Cope followed up with a spear, and the good guys won. After the match, Jon Moxley appeared on the screen before revealing that he had The Rock N’ Roll Express tied up in the back. The Outrunners came to try and help before Wheeler Yuta & Marina Shafir laid them out. The Death Riders bailed out before Copeland and the Death Riders could catch them in the back.

AEW Collision Winter is Coming live results: Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe

Winter is Coming for AEW Collision.

Willow Nightingale will take on Jamie Hayter to finalize the AEW representative in the Wrestle Dynasty International Women’s Cup.

A ten-man tag team match will see Orange Cassidy, The Outrunners, Komander and Daniel Garcia take on MxM Collection and Premier Athletes.

Other action includes Kris Statlander vs. Tootie Lynn, and Toni Storm vs. Shazza McKenzie. Storm made her return on Dynamite and wrestled on Friday’s Rampage where she defeated Harley Cameron in her first AEW match since August’s All In.

The show will begin after NBA coverage on TNT.

**********

This week’s Collision comes to us live (to tape) from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. I was in this building for the Dynasty PPV back in April. I was not in the building for this show. Anyway, Tony Schiovane & Nigel McGuinness are on the call as always.

Collision began with a recap of Will Ospreay’s defeat of Claudio Castagnoli, and Darby Allin making sure Castagnoli couldn’t continue his post-match attack. Backstage at Dynamite, Ospreay thanked Allin for his help. Allin had a bad feeling that the Death Riders were going to hurt someone else the same way they hurt Bryan Danielson and Chuck Taylor, and asked for Ospreay’s help. Ospreay said that he had to get his momentum back after losing at two straignt PPVs and was too busy to help. Allin warned that there may not be a Continental Classic when the Death Riders were done with AEW, so Ospreay promised to help Allin after the tournament if he needed someone in the foxhole with him.

We got promos from all four men in Continental Classic action tonight before the announcers ran down the card for tonight. Well, we got grunts from Mortos.

International Women’s Cup Qualifier Tournament Final Match – Willow Nightingale defeated Jamie Hayter

This was a very good match with two of AEW’s most popular women. Nightingale is a great representative for AEW at the Tokyo Dome, and her winning a big International tournament could get her back into the orbit of Mercedes Mone in the new year. Meanwhile, Hayter has a chance to bounce back quickly with Julia Hart returning. I enjoy Hayter attracting all of the long injured women on the AEW roster who seem to be upset that she got back before them.

The winner of this match will join ROH’s Athena, CMLL’s Persephone, and the yet-to-be-determined Stardom participant in the four-way International Women’s Cup final at New Japan’s Wrestle Dynasty event on January 5th.

The two traded shoulder block attempts before Nightingale won the exchange. The two traded flash pins before engaging in a chop battle. Hayter took Nightingale down with a DDT on the apron before the lights flashed off. They came back quickly, allowing Nightingale to come back with a cannonball off the apron.

After the commercial, Hayter came back with a superplex and a running knee for a nearfall. Hayter hit an ushigoroshi and a sliding lariat for a nearfall, channeling the spirit of NEVER Openweight Champions ahead of Wrestle Dynasty. The two hammered each other with lariats before taking each other down with big boots. Nightingale came back with Abyss’s old Shock Treatment move before hitting a Lionsault for a nearfall.

Nightingale went up for a moonsault, but Hayter snatched on a waistlock and hit a German suplex. Nightingale avoided a Hayterade and hit a Pounce, but Hayter slipped out of the Doctor Bomb to hit a big backbreaker. Nightingale ducked another Hayterade and hit the Babe With The Powerbomb to score the win and the Tokyo Dome spot.

The two women shook hands before Nightingale headed off. The lights went out again, and when they came up this time, Julia Hart dropped Hayter with a DDT. Tony Schiavone noted that this was the building where Hart had her last match before going away.

We got words from Brody King & Claudio Castagnoli after their Continental Classic losses on Wednesday’s Dynamite. King called Ricochet a coward for winning with the help of an exposed turnbuckle.

Continental Classic 2024 Blue League Match – Kazuchika Okada [7] defeated The Beast Mortos [0]

A very good match with two guys you wouldn’t have expected to be on the same roster page this time last year. Okada is currently in second place in the block with one match to go, so he’ll need some help to get through. Meanwhile, Beast Mortos is officially eliminated, as he cannot get to 7 points and reach second place.

Okada poked Mortos in the eyes and pulled his hair like a territory heel before Mortos came back with a shoulder block. Mortos went for a monkey flip, but Okada dumped Mortos over the top rope to the floor. Okada dumped Mortos back into the ring, but Mortos charged back with a spinning dive back to the floor. Mortos got greedy and went for a cannonball into the stairs, but Okada moved out of the way. Okada laid out Mortos with a DDT and blew a kiss to his Continental Title before we went to a commercial.

Mortos made his comeback when we came back from the break. Mortos hit a pair of tilt-a-whirl backbreakers before hitting the Bane-style backbreaker for a nearfall. Okada came back with a flapjack before locking on the MONEY CLIP~! It’s the damn Money Clip! Somehow, Mortos escaped the dreaded Money Clip before laying both Okada and himself out with a headbutt.

Okada came back with the big neckbreaker before landing the big elbow drop. After the middle finger pose, Okada and Mortos ducked each other’s lariats before Mortos caught Okada with one. Mortos hit a pop-up Samoan Drop for a nearfall. Okada hit his big dropkick, but Mortos immediately sat up. Okada hit a spinning lariat before landing the Rainmaker for the win and 3 points.

We got a video package highlighting Technicolor Toni Storm’s return to Dynamite before her match tonight.

Toni Storm defeated Shazza McKenzie

My hope was that Timeless Toni was a thing of the past, but Cactus Jack seems to be lost in Cleveland. (Google it, kids.)

Storm hit the hip attack and the Storm Zero for a quick win. After the match, Storm grabbed the mic. She never thought she would see the day, but she is officially All Elite. Alrighty then.

We got a recap of Mariah May beating Mina Shirakawa to retain her Women’s Title on Dynamite. Cameras caught up with May backstage after the match. May didn’t care that Toni Storm was back and promised to bury any woman who came after her title, including telling Thunder Rosa to name a time and place.

Thunder Rosa was backstage with Tony Schiavone. Rosa knew that she was a champion in her heart before Toni Storm entered the frame. She introduced herself to both of them before leaving. Rosa got back to business, naming the time and place to Mariah May. She challenged May to a Tijuana Street Fight for the Women’s Title at Worlds End.

#1 Contender Match for AEW World Tag Team Titles – Action Andretti & Lio Rush defeated Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) (w/Leila Grey)

A good match with four guys I’ve been wanting to see highlighted more in the tag division, and a solid conclusion to this TV angle. Andretti and Rush are a good team of jerks, and I believe Rush has the promo ability to get the team over.

Tag Champs Private Party told these two teams to fight it out, and the winner would get a future title shot.

Dante caught Rush in a pinning predicament to start the match. Darius and Andretti tagged in and fought to a stalemate. All four men ended up in the ring before Andretti and Rush hit dual handsprings to send Top Flight to the floor.

After the break, Dante fought to his corner to make the tag to Darius. Darius ran wild on both men, vaulting his brother over both himself and Rush to hit a tornado DDT off of Dante’s chest. Rush and Andretti came back with a flurry of strikes and a double Falcon Arrow for a nearfall. They played misdirection on Dante to take him down with a lariat.

We got a dive train that ended in Rush diving into Dante and Leila Grey on the floor. Both Martins went to check on Grey, allowing Rush and Andretti to jump them. Rush hit the Final Hour frog splash, and Andretti followed up with the springboard 450 splash to score the win and the future tag team title match.

We got a recap of the promo from last week’s Dynamite between Mercedes Mone & Anna Jay ahead of their TBS Title match on this week’s Dynamite.

Kris Statlander defeated Tootie Lynn

St. Louis chanted for the hometown woman Lynn, but Statlander got the crowd on her side with a loooooong delayed vertical suplex. Statlander hammered Lynn with a lariat and hit the Staturday Night Fever for the win in her return to television.

We got a snippet of a Dustin Rhodes promo hyping the Double Bullrope match at Final Battle, where he and Sammy Guevara will defend the ROH World Tag Team Titles against The Righteous. Rhodes warned the Righteous about what would happen for saying his father’s name.

FTR narrated a video package hyping the Fight For The Fallen event on January 1st, with proceeds from the show to be donated to charity efforts in the Carolinas after the damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd), Daniel Garcia, Komander & Orange Cassidy (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Varsity Athletes (Ari Daivari, Josh Woods & Tony Nese) & MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden) (w/Mark Sterling)

This was a ton of fun. We need more babyface armies running wild in big tag matches like this, as the crowd was red hot for the closing stretch.

Matt Menard joined commentary. Woods and Garcia, two former ROH Pure Champions, started the match. Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire on Nese before Komander vaulted off of his back to hit a rana on another Athlete. Madden distracted Komander on the top rope before MxM got the heat on him to take us to the commercial break.

We came back to the Athletes clearing the ring before they got dragged to the floor. Sterling cut off a Komander dive, allowing the rare quintuple-team manuever from the Athletes and MxM for a nearfall. A Pier Six brawl broke out before Cassidy and Garcia ran wild. Komander hit the rope walk dive, tagging in Cassidy on the way across. Cassidy laid out Sterling and Woods with Orange Punches for the win.

Don Callis was backstage, unhappy at the results from Rampage where Powerhouse Hobbs got the win in a tag team match and laid out Konosuke Takeshita after the match. Callis confirmed that Hobbs vs. Takeshita for the International Title was set for Worlds End and promised that Kyle Fletcher would punch his ticket to Worlds End tonight after he beat Mark Briscoe in the main event.

Continental Classic 2024 Blue League Match – Mark Briscoe [6] defeated Kyle Fletcher [9]

An excellent match, as Fletcher has separated himself from the pack as tournament MVP so far. The build to the finish was fantastic, as Briscoe survived all of the tactics Fletcher used to get his points thus far and got the win in the closing seconds of the time limit. My match of the tournament so far, and an excellent example of round-robin tournament wrestling.

This Saturday night’s main event is an important match in the Blue League, as a win here would guarantee Fletcher a spot in the playoffs at Worlds End.

Don Callis joined commentary to praise his charge Fletcher. Fletcher got in the faces of the people in the front row before dropping Briscoe with a shoulder block. Fletcher worked on Briscoe for a while until Briscoe fired up with some strikes. Briscoe pulled Fletcher to the floor before hitting a tumbleweed dive to the floor. Briscoe rolled Fletcher into the ring, where he came back with a leg lariat. They do-si-do’ed on the apron before Briscoe hit a blockbuster and a Cactus Jack elbow off the apron.

Briscoe pinballed Fletcher around ringside before Fletcher backdropped his way free of a Jay Driller attempt. Fletcher dropped Briscoe over the barricade, then cannonballed onto Briscoe over the barricade. Briscoe came back with a chop before superplexing Fletcher off the barricade to the floor.

After a commercial break, Fletcher kept Briscoe down before Briscoe came back with strikes. Briscoe hit an exploder suplex and a Fisherman Buster for a nearfall. Fletcher hit a half-and-half suplex, but Briscoe fired out with a lariat and a Death Valley Driver. Fletcher cut off the Froggy Bow, but Briscoe knocked him off the top rope. Fletcher got the knees up on the Froggy Bow, but Briscoe moved out of the way of an elbow drop.

Fletcher avoided a Jay Driller and hit a Michinoku Driver for a nearfall. Briscoe fought out of a Last Ride powerbomb but took two big boots in response. Briscoe hit a big chop and went for the Cut Throat Driver, but Fletcher clawed at Briscoe’s eyes and rolled up Briscoe with his feet on the ropes. The referee caught him, but Fletcher countered another Jay Driller attempt with a Brainbuster for a nearfall. The announcers noted that Fletcher used those methods to score two of his wins in this tournament.

Briscoe fought out of the top rope Brainbuster, and Briscoe hit the Cut Throat Driver. Briscoe couldn’t make the cover as Fletcher rolled away to the floor. Briscoe hit a Froggy Bow to the floor and followed with a Froggy Bow in the ring for a nearfall. The one-minute call was made, and both men went for flash pins. Fletcher shoved Briscoe into the referee and tried a low blow, but Briscoe caught the leg and hit the Jay Driller to score the win.

The announcers had noted that on Dynamite, FTR had challenged the Death Riders to face them tonight on Collision. Both teams had been in the building all night, and it was here where we cut to the Death Riders in the back with a camera. Wheeler Yuta manned the camera as Moxley, Castagnoli, and PAC jumped FTR as they were leaving the building. Well, they stuck bags over their heads and dragged them outside before we heard sounds of guys getting beat up.

(This felt completely divorced from the show, and the tone of it felt off for the World Championship act. I get that they’re building to the Death Riders vs. FTR in some form for the January 1st show, but these past few weeks have been an odd way to get there.)
