Two title matches confirmed for WWE NXT Houston

Two title matches are set for NXT’s show in Houston later this month.

At Vengeance Day, Jacy Jayne came out and cut a promo talking about her history of being Women’s Champion. Robert Stone cut her off and said this was about finding her next challengers. After both Zaria and Sol Ruca came out to stake their claim, Stone cut everyone off and announced a triple threat match for the title on March 17.

Later on backstage, Jayne was upset about the triple threat match as the rest of Fatal Influence conspired to take out Ruca before the championship match took place.

Fallon Henley also brought up that on the same show, she would be defending the Speed title against the winner of the finals set for this coming Tuesday’s NXT between Wren Sinclair and Thea Hail, both of whom picked up victories in the qualifying round.

  • WWE Speed Championship: Fallon Henley defends against either Wren Sinclair or Thea Hail

Tatum Paxley wins Women’s North American title at WWE NXT Vengeance Day

A new North American Women’s Champion has been crowned.

Tatum Paxley defeated her former friend Izzi Dame to win the championship for the first time. The finish had Dame going for a codebreaker but Paxley countered by hitting a cartwheel. An unaware Dame then walked into a running kick by Paxley who then finished the job by pinning Dame with the cemetery drive for the win.

Dame had been champion since January, defeating Thea Hail at New Year’s Evil. Earlier on that show, Paxley had defeated Dame and was looking to challenge Hail, who had an open challenge for the title after Blake Monroe was thrown out of the building. But Dame entered the ring first and challenged instead, defeating Hail to win the title.

Over the course of the last several weeks, Paxley has appeared via vignettes saying a new version of herself would be seen at Vengeance Day. Dame, meanwhile, dismissed the idea, saying the same old Paxley would show up. The two split months ago after Dame turned against Paxley, costing her the NXT Women’s Championship.

Two new number one contenders crowned on WWE SmackDown

The number one contenders for both the WWE and Women’s Tag Team titles were determined on SmackDown.

After Giulia & Kiana James and Alexa Bliss & Charlotte both came out on Friday to confront new champions the Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend), Nick Aldis arrived and made an impromptu number one contender’s match between the first two teams. Flair and Bliss emerged victorious after Flair hit the natural selection on Giulia, giving them the next shot against Jax and Legend.

The Irresistible Forces defeated Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY on last week’s SmackDown to win the titles for the first time as a team. During their celebration backstage, they announced that they would have an additional celebration on this week’s show.

For the men, Damian Priest and R-Truth emerged as the new number one contenders for the titles, winning a Tag Team Turmoil match. The Motor City Machine Guns were first eliminated by Fraxiom, who then were eliminated by Los Garza. The Wyatt Sicks were in next, but shockingly lost after Tama Tonga interrupted the match, allowing Berto to roll up Dexter Lumis for the win. Finally Priest & Truth entered and scored the victory over Los Garza to become the new number one contenders, earning a future title match against the MFTs.

Update on next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special

WWE’s next Saturday Night’s Main Event special looks to still be a couple of months away.

WrestleVotes Radio reports that the next edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event is currently slated for May 23, later confirmed by our Bryan Alvarez.

The location for the show is not confirmed yet, but WrestleVotes notes that Nashville, Tennessee, is being considered. The event will be broadcast live on Peacock.

The show is scheduled to happen shortly before WWE begins an extensive European tour. From March 29-June 8, WWE has events scheduled for Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal. The company then returns to Europe on June 22 for a Raw episode in London.

SNME would be taking place just over one week before WWE’s Clash in Italy PLE in Turin.

On the pro wrestling calendar, this SNME date falls one day before AEW’s Double or Nothing 2026 pay-per-view in New York City.

SNME made its return in December 2024 as WWE revived the classic series. The most recent edition was held in January prior to the Royal Rumble. Before that, there were SNME specials in both November and December 2025 — with the latter show being built around John Cena’s retirement.

New match & stipulation added to WWE NXT Vengeance Day

A match and a new stipulation has been added to NXT Vengeance Day.

Jaida Parker and Blake Monroe’s face-to-face ended in a confrontation on Tuesday, leading Parker to stand tall. Later in the show, Monroe emerged by the announcer’s table and told Parker she did bring the hell out of her and said this would end at Vengeance Day in a Street Fight.

The two have been feuding since last month, with their first match ended in a double countout and with Monroe injuring Parker’s neck. On last week’s NXT, Parker returned and attacked Monroe, costing her a Speed tournament match against Thea Hail.

Throughout Tuesday’s show, DarkState looked to go after Tony D’Angleo, who cost them the NXT Tag Team titles. Tony D finally confronted Dion Lennox in the crowd, saying the hunter has become the hunted. He blamed Lennox for his downfall last year and while he might have killed that man, he’s returned as a more dangerous person. D’Angelo challenged him to a match at Vengeance Day, saying after he beats Lennox he will have completed one of the two goals he has set out for himself since making his return.

After Sol Ruca came out and interrupted the NXT Women’s Championship match between Zaria and Jacy Jayne, Robert Stone said he would have a decision about the NXT Women’s Championship at Vengeance Day. Ruca laid out both women with the sol snatcher, leading to no winner in their title match.

  • NXT Women’s North American title: Izzi Dame defends against Tatum Paxley

Brodie Lee Jr. to wrestle first-ever singles match

Brodie Lee Jr. is officially set to compete in his first-ever singles match during WrestleMania weekend.

Game Changer Wrestling has confirmed that Lee will make his singles debut when he faces off against Joey Janela on Friday, April 17. The match will be the main event of Joey Janela’s Spring Break 10, which is being held at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas and will stream live via TrillerTV+.

The build for this match extends all the way back to last year’s Spring Break, when Lee won the Clusterf**k match by eliminating Janela and his girlfriend Megan Bayne.

At GCW’s events this past weekend, Lee challenged Janela to face him in a singles match at Spring Break 10. Janela initially did not accept, but Lee goaded him into the match by calling him “Megan Bayne’s b*tch.” The angle ended with Janela laying out Lee with a piledriver.

The 14-year-old Lee is the son of deceased AEW legend Brodie Lee (Jon Huber), who tragically passed away at 41 years old in 2020 due to a rare lung issue.

When he turns 18 years old, Lee has the option of signing with AEW and fully beginning his wrestling career. He’s trained with Natalya and TJ Wilson at their Dungeon facility in Florida.

The Spring Break 10 card also includes The Sandman competing in his retirement match against The Invisible Man.

Number one contender’s gauntlet match part of next week’s WWE Raw lineup

The next contender for the Women’s Intercontinental title will be set on next week’s Raw.

New champion AJ Lee came out on Monday and issued an open challenge for anyone in the back to challenge her next, saying the next time she was in the ring, it would be to defend the title. Throughout the night Raquel Rodriguez, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, and IYO SKY all made it clear they wanted the shot. Later in the night, it was confirmed that those four women, Asuka, and Ivy Nile would compete in a gauntlet match to determine Lee’s next challenger.

Lee won the title at Elimination Chamber this past Saturday, submitting Becky Lynch who didn’t appear on Monday’s show.

Meanwhile, Oba Femi will face Rusev in a battle of behemoths. After the two had a staredown last week, Rusev came to the ring this week and challenged Femi, who came out. The two had a brawl but it was Femi who emerged as the winner of their battle after he laid out Rusev with a chokeslam.

Kevin Nash addresses controversial Je’Von Evans comments

On the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash addressed the controversy surrounding the comments he recently made about Je’Von Evans.

Nash offered a critique of Evans on Kliq This a couple weeks back, speaking highly of Evans’ ability but saying he wanted to see more of an edge from him. Nash described Evans as being too “Mr. Bojangles” and said he wished Evans was a “little bit more urban.”

After the racial nature of his comments drew backlash, Nash tweeted out an apology for using the “Mr. Bojangles” term. He’s now further discussed the situation on Kliq This, praising Evans as a generational prospect. He compared Evans to NFL legend Randy Moss when Moss first broke into the league.

“I really want to bury this because — let me say this first,” Nash said. “This Je’Von, if he was a f***ing wide receiver, he is basically a rookie Randy Moss. Like, this kid could be a generational f***ing talent.”

Nash continued to praise Evans’ performance from Raw last week, but he took notice of how WWE paired Evans with rapper Offset at the show. Nash feels WWE going in that direction shows that he wasn’t too far off with his previous remarks.

“I guess the thing that pisses me off is like, all I want for the guy is for him to be used in a way, like — how off was I if when they really want to showcase him, they put him with Offset? I mean, they could have put him with f***ing Reba McEntire. She’s got a name,” Nash said.

The February 23 episode of Raw was held in Atlanta, which is Offset’s hometown. Evans defeated Kofi Kingston on the show before coming up short at Elimination Chamber this past weekend. Randy Orton won the men’s Elimination Chamber match to earn a WWE Championship shot against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 42.

Evans’ only response to Nash’s comments so far was an Instagram post on February 18 where he indirectly referenced the situation by using the nWo Wolfpac theme music for the post.

AJ Lee wins Women’s Intercontinental title at WWE Elimination Chamber

For the first time in over a decade, AJ Lee is a champion in WWE once again.

Lee defeated Becky Lynch at Saturday’s Elimination Chamber event to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship for the first time. The two went to battle and during the course of the match the referee was knocked down, leading Lynch to visually tap out to the Black Widow. The match managed to continue until Lynch landed head first on an exposed turnbuckle. Lee followed that up with the Black Widow submission once again to score the submission victory.

Since returning to WWE last fall, Lee has been feuding sporadically with Lynch. The two squared off in a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza, with Lee and CM Punk emerging victorious over Lynch and Seth Rollins. Lee also submitted Lynch at WarGames two months later.

Lee returned to TV following the Royal Rumble and issued the challenge to Lynch, who initally balked at the idea before eventually agreeing. Lynch later jumped Lee from behind as she was helping Maxxine Dupri to the back, posting Lee into a nearby turnbuckle.

Rhea Ripley wins Elimination Chamber, earns WWE WrestleMania 42 title shot

Rhea Ripley is heading to WrestleMania.

Ripley emerged victorious at Elimination Chamber on Saturday, pinning Tiffany Stratton to win the match. The two had a competitive back-and-forth match after everyone else had been eliminated, but Ripley won after hitting the riptide.

Following her victory, Ripley pointed at the WrestleMania sign as pyro went off. She will now challenge Jade Cargill, who was in the crowd watching the match. Cargill responded to Ripley’s win by clapping and holding her WWE Women’s Championship that Ripley will now challenge for.

Kiana James scored an upset once again during the match by pinning Alexa Bliss after she was misted by Asuka. But her luck ran out when she was laid out by Raquel Rodriguez, who then followed that up by hitting the Tejana Bomb on Asuka who landed on James then stacked them up to eliminate them both. Stratton then eventually pinned Rodriguez with the PME, leaving her and Ripley as the final two participants.

The men’s Elimination Chamber later on Saturday between Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Logan Paul, Randy Orton, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans will determine Drew McIntyre’s opponent for WrestleMania 42.

CMLL notes: AEW wrestler loses hair, Mercedes Mone’s next challenger set

Notes from Friday’s CMLL show in Arena Mexico.

The main event of the evening saw Johnny Consejo lose his hair to Angel de Oro, who emerged victorious after connecting with a frog splash. After the match, Johnny refused to go all the way with the cut. Oro responded by taking him out with a superkick, allowing the official to shave Johnny’s head. When he recovered, Johnny fled from the ring, dumbstruck that after all these years he was now bald.

Persephone will be next to challenge Mercedes Mone for the CMLL Women’s Championship, defeating Olympia on Friday after a kneeling Razor’s Edge. She and Mone previously met back in October, with Mone emerging victorious. Mone has been champion since last June and has made several appearances in Mexico to defend the title.

The two have also previously met in a four-way match back at Forbidden Door, with Mone retaining the TBS title over Persephone, Bozilla, and Alex Windsor.

Friday’s show also saw Claudio Castagnoli retain the CMLL Heavyweight title in a three-way match, defeating Akuma and Euphoria.
