Brodie Lee Jr. to wrestle first-ever singles match

Brodie Lee Jr. is officially set to compete in his first-ever singles match during WrestleMania weekend.

Game Changer Wrestling has confirmed that Lee will make his singles debut when he faces off against Joey Janela on Friday, April 17. The match will be the main event of Joey Janela’s Spring Break 10, which is being held at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas and will stream live via TrillerTV+.

The build for this match extends all the way back to last year’s Spring Break, when Lee won the Clusterf**k match by eliminating Janela and his girlfriend Megan Bayne.

At GCW’s events this past weekend, Lee challenged Janela to face him in a singles match at Spring Break 10. Janela initially did not accept, but Lee goaded him into the match by calling him “Megan Bayne’s b*tch.” The angle ended with Janela laying out Lee with a piledriver.

The 14-year-old Lee is the son of deceased AEW legend Brodie Lee (Jon Huber), who tragically passed away at 41 years old in 2020 due to a rare lung issue.

When he turns 18 years old, Lee has the option of signing with AEW and fully beginning his wrestling career. He’s trained with Natalya and TJ Wilson at their Dungeon facility in Florida.

The Spring Break 10 card also includes The Sandman competing in his retirement match against The Invisible Man.

Brodie Lee Jr. challenges Joey Janela for Spring Break X

Late wrestling veteran and former AEW TNT Champion Brodie Lee’s son, Brodie Lee Jr., was present at the February 28 edition of GCW Baller Blockin, where he challenged Joey Janela for a match.

On the February 28 episode, Lee Jr. was in the corner of Joey Janela during his match and victory over The Blade.

After the bout, Janela claimed that he had to make amends with Lee Jr. and wanted him in his corner at Spring Break X. However, the 14-year-old Lee Jr. had other plans. He refused to be in Janela’s corner and instead challenged him to a match.

Janela declined the challenge and claimed that Lee Jr. was only 14 years old and offered to fight him after four years. However, the young wrestler instead responded with “stop being Megan Bayne’s bitch.”

Not taking kindly to the insult, Janela responded with a slap and dropped Lee Jr. with a piledriver. It is currently not confirmed if Janela and Lee Jr. will square off at Spring Break X.

Lee Jr. made his in-ring debut last year at GCW Clusterf**k Battle Royal and won the match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break IX during WrestleMania weekend.

Brodie Lee Jr. announced for GCW Baller Blockin

Brodie Lee Jr. is now all set to appear on GCW Baller Blockin.

Announced earlier on Thursday, February 26, late wrestling veteran Brodie Lee’s son, Brodie Lee Jr., will now be appearing at GCW Baller Blockin on Saturday, February 28, in Hartford.

The upcoming appearance will mark his second straight appearance in GCW. He is also set to be at GCW What’s My Name in Rochester on Friday, February 27.

Lee Jr., 14, made his in-ring debut last year at GCW Clusterf**k Battle Royal and won the match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break IX during WrestleMania weekend. Hoping to follow his father’s footsteps, he currently trains at The Dungeon with TJ Wilson and Natalya.

Brodie Lee Jr. clarifies his AEW contract status

In a new interview with The Wrestling Classic, Brodie Lee Jr. clarified what his AEW contract status actually is.

The 13-year-old Brodie is not officially under contract anywhere at the moment, though he did sign an AEW deal in 2020 during his father’s difficult health battle. Brodie explained to The Wrestling Classic that the contract he signed still exists but is not in effect yet. It is a totally optional deal that gives him the choice of whether or not he wants to join AEW as a wrestler when he turns 18 years old.

“I’m not signed. Everybody thinks I’m signed. I’m not signed,” he said. “The deal was, when I turn 18, if I want that contract, it is always open. The only thing I really signed was a — it was that, and I also signed a random, like, contract for when I turned 18: me vs. Mox in a death match.”

Brodie said he definitely does want to wrestle Jon Moxley, but he doesn’t know if he actually wants to have a death match.

Wrestling is something that Brodie is passionate about, and he hopes to make it his career. He’s trained with Natalya and TJ Wilson at their Dungeon facility and has made appearances in AEW, ROH, and GCW. He’s also been in the crowd supporting his friend Cody Rhodes in WWE.

Brodie Lee Sr. (Jon Huber) passed away at 41 years old in December 2020 due to a rare lung disease. His wife Amanda Huber works for AEW as a community outreach coordinator.

Brodie Lee Jr. makes in-ring debut at Joey Janela’s Spring Break

The long-awaited in-ring debut of Brodie Lee Jr. is now in the record books and one he will never forget.

The son of the late Brodie Lee/Jon Huber wasn’t just the surprise final entrant in Saturday’s Clusterf**k battle royal that closed out the second night of Joey Janela’s Spring Break events at The Palms in Las Vegas. but he actually won the match.

As Janela and Megan Bayne were about to hit Man Like DeReiss with a chair shot, Chris Bey’s music hit and the TNA star came out on the entranceway. He teased that he would get in the ring before pointing to Lee Jr. instead.

The 13-year-old was all smiles, joining DeReiss in delivering superkicks to Janela and Bayne. However, he got distracted by the fans and didn’t see the two beat up and eliminate DeReiss, leaving a two-on-one situation.

As Bayne held Lee Jr., Janela grabbed a chair and threw it at him, but he ducked and Bayne got hit instead. Lee Jr. then pushed Janela into Bayne who was then eliminated due to the sheer force. The two then wrestled for a bit with Lee Jr. rolling through into an ankle lock. Janela eventually regained the advantage and nearly got the win after a DVD. However, Lee Jr. sat up Undertaker-style, kipped up, and eventually hit Janela with a stunner that sent him over the top for the win.

Lee Jr. has been an occasional on-screen presence in AEW/ROH since the passing of his father, appearing in a mask as Negative One as part of the Dark Order.

Amanda Huber says Brodie Lee would be ‘over the moon’ if he saw -1 in AEW

Amanda Huber says that if Brodie Lee could see his son perform as Negative One in AEW, he would be “just bubbling over the moon.”

Jon Huber (Brodie Lee) passed away on December 26, 2020, of a rare lung condition. Following a tribute show in his father’s honor, Brodie Huber (Negative One, Brody Lee Jr.) has become an official member of The Dark Order and regularly appears on AEW programming.

Brodie and Amanda Huber spoke with Men’s Health about the relationship they’ve had with AEW ever since Jon’s passing. Brodie Jr. also spoke about the tribute show held in honor of his father and being given the TNT Championship belt by Tony Khan.

“Holding the belt that my dad held, just to be in that moment, was … it was definitely … it was hard,” he said.

“I want to be just like him,” Brodie continued to say of his father. He also noted that when he’s older he wants to grow a big, bushy beard just like him too.

Amanda also fired back at critics who accuse AEW of exploiting Brodie Jr. by having him on shows. She said that the company has handled everything with “such grace and such kindness.”

“I personally don’t feel like they’ve exploited him, or taken advantage of us. Everything’s always felt to me like it’s done with nothing but love. I think people are skeptical and pessimistic and assume that it’s a lot more sinister than it is,” she continued.

Brodie Lee had said previously that he didn’t want his sons to be wrestlers. Amanda says that he would probably be ‘over the moon’ if he could see Brodie Lee Jr. in AEW, however.

“He would tell you he absolutely hates it,” she said. “But I could tell you that deep down, in his heart, he would be just bubbling over the moon.”

Brodie Lee Jr. also spoke about how he thinks his father would feel about him being involved in wrestling and carrying on his legacy.

“I bet if he was here, he would probably change his mind,” he said. “He just wanted me to be happy. If he were here, to have him see me be in the happiest place, me being in the happiest mood, I feel like that would brighten up his day.”

TUESDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE

  • John Cena talked to Chris Van Vliet promoting the upcoming Fast 9 movie. When asked by Vilet if it is a matter of when and not if he will make a return to WWE, he confirmed he would be returning to WWE, though did not mention any specifics. When asked about if he is excited about crowds coming back, he responded: “I’m excited for the WWE performers. I know how hard it’s been. I don’t think I would’ve done very well in this atmosphere without an audience. But I also think that this time without an audience has allowed performers like Roman Reigns, for example, to unobstructedly mold his character. If you send Roman Reigns from city to city with paying audience after paying audience, there may be some audiences that don’t even care what he has to say, they just want to boo him or cheer him or whatever.,,I think Roman has absolutely needed this time and in it he has developed his personality and found out who he is. Now when he goes back to live audiences, they aren’t confused. He’s spent this fifteen-month block defining who he is, and he’s the one who can benefit from this, whereas established performers, I think I really would have had a tough time with no audiences.”
  • LA Knight talked to PWInsider about winning the Million Dollar Championship at NXT TakeOver this past weekend. He also spoke about working with Ted DiBiase again: “Well, I have to say this. He better be around for a little bit because we’ve got some stuff to do. Like I said, he’s got to help me get that last puzzle piece, which is just becoming the millionaire because everything else, I’ve embodied, it’s there, now I got the title. And I think it’s game on from here.  So, I got to get Ted coming back. I don’t think Ted’s going anywhere.”
  • The company has trademarked the name “Jacy Jane”.
  • Sheamus on Twitter wrote that someone had stolen a Celtic cross. This is in relation to a theft that took place at the Yuengling Center on June 5. “..a lovely fella stole my cross,” he wrote, posting a picture of the cross. “I’d appreciate it if you internet sleuths could track it down & return it via details below.. ringside seats reward when we return to your town & many beers.”

  • Levi Cooper, formerly known as Tucker in the WWE, was a guest on our own Left My Wallet podcast. Actually, I’m planning on kind of stripping away some of the façade and sort of just reminding the world on a pro wrestling level where I come from, the reason why I got into pro wrestling in the first place, and things that I’m capable of doing. I’m not just a butcher singlet, jean jacket-wearing guy who turned on his partner and got f****** up by Ricochet.
