Three WWE series returning to A&E next month

WWE’s Sunday night programming block is coming back to A&E next month with three shows set to return.

It was announced today that Biography: WWE Legends, WWE LFG (Legends & Future Greats), and WWE’s Greatest Moments will return on April 26. The block begins at 8 p.m. Eastern with Biography, then WWE LFG follows at 10 p.m. and Greatest Moments airs at 11 p.m.

The new season of Biography is set to include episodes on the Von Erich family (April 26 and May 3), the Road Warriors (May 10), and The Four Horsemen. In the Von Erich documentary, Kevin Von Erich will tell the story of his family and the tragedies they suffered.

A press release said:

  • ‘WWE Legends’ returns with new specials offering an inside look at legendary WWE Superstars, including the stories of the ‘Legion of Doom,’ ‘The Four Horsemen’ and famed ‘Von Erich family,’ that inspired a Hollywood film. ‘The Curse of the Von Erichs,’ airing on 4/26 and 5/3, will delve into the history of the Von Erichs where Kevin Von Erich tells the powerful story behind his family’s wrestling dynasty and the tragedies faced in building their empire. Following on 5/10 and 5/17 respectively are special two-hour episodes highlighting the Legion of Doom, also known as The Road Warriors, who are regarded by many as the greatest tag team in pro wrestling history and The Four Horsemen, who were wrestling’s first true supergroup led by Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and others.

The new season of LFG will have a revamped coaching roster with Kevin Owens and Natalya replacing The Undertaker and Mickie James. Along with that, there will be an “all-new format” with raised stakes:

  • The in-ring competition series ‘WWE LFG’ returns for a new season with an all-new format, raising the stakes as rising talent battle for a shot at WWE stardom. Competitors face relentless pressure training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida where there are no limits and one defining moment could advance a Future Great to NXT or end their journey in the program altogether. Guided by iconic coaches and special guests including Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, Kevin Owens, Natalya and others, the series spotlights the next generation of hopefuls as they battle it out in front of packed crowds for a chance at greatness.

Greatest Moments, hosted by Michael Cole, takes a look back at iconic events and wrestlers in WWE history. The new season will spotlight Chyna, Roddy Piper, Lex Luger, and Seth Rollins:

  • ‘WWE’s Greatest Moments’ offers fans a chance to count down the most iconic events in WWE history. Hosted by legendary play-by-play announcer Michael Cole, each half-hour episode pays tribute to WWE Superstars and Legends such as Chyna, ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, Lex Luger, Seth Rollins and more. From unforgettable debuts and backstage chaos, to highlights from the premium live events like Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania, relive some of the most iconic moments from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s.

The partnership between WWE and A&E dates back several years now, with today’s press release noting that it’s set to continue with approximately 200 hours of programming in the years ahead.

WWE on A&E programming returning this April, new Rivals host named

Though the current run of episodes is set to wrap up this weekend, it won’t be long until WWE programming is back on A&E.

It was announced today that new episodes of WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures and WWE Rivals will premiere on A&E this April. Most Wanted Treasures makes its return at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, April 14. WWE Rivals is then back with new episodes the following week (Sunday, April 21). Rivals will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Most Wanted Treasures follows it at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

On Most Wanted Treasures, Booker T, Mick Foley, and Lita “travel across the country in search of priceless [memorabilia] pieces from WWE’s history.” Hulk Hogan, The Miz, Cody Rhodes, Sheamus, and more are set to appear on this season.

A press release said:

This season, viewers will be captivated by the star-studded journey to find artifacts from WCW, and the team will attempt to reclaim pieces of WWE history such as Dusty Rhodes’ polka dot gear, Triple H’s signature sledgehammer, items from The Ultimate Warrior’s illustrious career, and much more.

Rivals will have a new roundtable host for this run of episodes. Comedian Gabriel Iglesias is replacing Freddie Prinze Jr. in the role. Cody Rhodes, Natalya, Kevin Nash, and others are joining Iglesias to discuss some of the most iconic in-ring feuds in pro wrestling history.

There will be Rivals episodes focused on Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, Steve Austin vs. Booker T, Ric Flair vs. Dusty Rhodes, Triple H vs. Seth Rollins, John Cena vs. Batista, and Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock.

Additionally, Biography: WWE Legends is slated to return on Sunday, May 26. There will be documentaries on Mark Henry, Eddie Guerrero, The Miz, Ricky Steamboat, Rob Van Dam, Ted DiBiase, The Steiners, Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch, Paul Heyman, Steve Austin’s final match, and ECW.

The current season of Biography concludes this Sunday (March 31) with an episode on Roman Reigns. That night’s Rivals episode is focused on the Daniel Bryan vs. Miz feud.

Paul Heyman directed Roman Reigns episode of Biography: WWE Legends

Paul Heyman was heavily involved in putting together A&E’s upcoming Biography: WWE Legends episode on Roman Reigns.

The documentary will premiere on A&E at 9 p.m. Eastern time next Sunday (March 31). In advance of that, WWE announced today that Heyman both directed the Biography episode and served as an executive producer.

WWE.com posted the following quote from Reigns:

I wanted the most authentic documentary in the history of #WWEonAE. The Wiseman was the only one who could do this story the justice it deserves. There’s so much about me that I’ve never discussed in public before. This is the true story of Joe Anoa’i and Roman Reigns!

Heyman and Reigns have been paired together on WWE television since August 2020. Reigns recently said that being aligned with Heyman is a “performance enhancer.”

The Biography: WWE Legends episode is premiering less than a week before WrestleMania 40 begins. Heyman and Reigns are both set for big roles over WrestleMania weekend.

Heyman is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Friday, April 5. The next night, Heyman will accompany Reigns & The Rock as they take on Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins in the main event of WrestleMania 40 night one.

Reigns vs. Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will then headline night two of WrestleMania 40.

This season of Biography: WWE Legends also included episodes on Randy Orton, Sgt. Slaughter, Scott Hall, Diamond Dallas Page, and “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith.

New seasons of WWE Rivals & Biography: WWE Legends to premiere next month

WWE’s Sunday night programming block on A&E is set to return next month.

A&E issued a press release on Wednesday announcing that WWE Rivals and Biography: WWE Legends will return with new seasons starting on Sunday, February 25. The programming block begins with Rivals at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Biography then follows it an hour later.

This is season three of WWE Rivals, which is hosted by actor and former WWE creative team member Freddie Prinze Jr. He leads a roundtable discussion of current and former WWE personalities discussing the most iconic rivalries in company history.

The first episode of the new season will focus on the rivalry between The Rock and Triple H. Other episodes in the season will cover Randy Savage vs. Jake Roberts, The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, John Cena vs. Randy Orton, The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian, and The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan.

Biography: WWE Legends is starting its fourth season. The season premiere will be a documentary on Randy Orton. Other episodes in the season will focus on Sgt. Slaughter, Scott Hall, Diamond Dallas Page, “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith, and Roman Reigns.

The partnership between WWE and A&E was first announced in 2019. The programming block debuted in 2021.
