Two Owen Hart tournament matches set for next week’s AEW Dynamite Summer Blockbuster

Two Owen Hart Foundation tournament bouts are on tap for next Wednesday’s Summer Blockbuster edition of AEW Dynamite from Cincinnati, Ohio.

One will be a semifinal in the men’s bracket as former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland takes on Brody King in a rematch from April’s Dynasty. Strickland advanced with a win over Bandido at last month’s Double or Nothing while King defeated Claudio Castagnoli to advance.

The winner advances to this month’s Forbidden Door in the tournament finals against Will Ospreay with the tournament winner getting a shot at the World title at August’s All In.

On the women’s side, Japanese women’s wrestling star Sareee (pictured above) will make her AEW debut against Skye Blue in a quarterfinal. The winner takes on Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena in a semifinal at a later date.

MJF World title defense, Kevin Knight vs. Speedball part of next week’s AEW Dynamite

AEW World Champion MJF will defend the title for the first time in his third reign on next week’s AEW Dynamite.

He will put the title up against Rush who called his shot after picking up a win in a four-way Wednesday for his sixth straight victory. He did so just after MJF turned down old foe Mark Briscoe who came out to interrupt the champion’s celebration.

It will be their second-ever singles meeting with the last coming in June 2024 that MJF won in his first match back from injury.

The show from Richmond, Virginia, will also feature a women’s quarterfinal match in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament as Alex Windsor takes on a wild card entrant, filling the spot relinquished by the injured Willow Nightingale.

The show will also feature a clash between Will Ospreay and Mark Davis in an Owen Hart Foundation tournament semifinal after Davis defeated Jack Perry on Dynamite. It will be their third meeting and first since Davis scored an update over Ospreay in February.

After turning heel at Double or Nothing and then laying out former partner “Speedball” Mike Bailey on Dynamite, reigning TNT Champion Kevin Knight will defend against Bailey. It will be their fourth-ever singles match with Bailey holding a 3-0 record. They last squared off in the 2025 Continental Classic this past December.

AEW Dynamite notes: Future World Tag Team challengers made, new match for next week

Two members of The Conglomeration have earned a shot at the AEW World Tag Team titles after the events of Wednesday’s Dynamite.

In a Double Jeopardy bout, AEW Trios Champion Orange Cassidy defeated AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood to earn the opportunity. If Harwood won, he, Cash Wheeler and Tommaso Ciampa would have earned a Trios title shot.

The date and who will be involved from The Conglomeration side have yet to be announced. While FTR are the reigning champions, they are next set to defend against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an I Quit street fight at this month’s Double or Nothing where a Copeland and Cage loss mean they are done as a team forever.

In a match made for next Wednesday’s Dynamite from Asheville, North Carolina, it will be another ten-man tag team match.

The aforementioned FTR team with Ciampa, David Finlay and Clark Connors of The Dogs against The Young Bucks, Cage, Copeland, and Cassidy.

It joins the AEW World title match that will see Kazuchika Okada get a shot against the winner of reigning champion Darby Allin vs. PAC taking place this Saturday.

Darby Allin World title defense, Double Jeopardy match set for next AEW Dynamite

AEW World Champion Darby Allin will defend his title for the third straight week as part of next week’s three-hour combo edition of Dynamite & Collision.

Allin will defend against reigning TNT Champion Kevin Knight after telling him Wednesday that if he successfully defended his World title against Brody King, Knight would get the next shot.

Knight defended his own title against MJF in the opener while Allin defeated King, making the save for Knight after he was jumped by MJF.

The two have wrestled just once before with Knight picking up the November win as part of last year’s Continental Classic. Knight will defend his title against Hook on this Saturday’s Collision.

In a Double Jeopardy match, Dax Harwood will take on Orange Cassidy for the first time ever. If Harwood wins, FTR and Tommaso Ciampa earn a future AEW Trios title match where if Cassidy wins, The Conglomeration earn a future AEW World Tag Team match.

Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis, Darby Allin appearance set for AEW Dynamite

A clash between former United Empire teammates and the first appearance by new AEW World Champion Darby Allin will headline this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite from Portland, Oregon.

After Mark Davis jumped Will Ospreay after the latter’s win over Hechicero this past Wednesday as Don Callis’ “plan B,” the two will go one-on-one. The longtime allies became enemies following Davis’ post-injury return in late-2024 after he turned on Ospreay.

This will be their third-ever singles match with Ospreay going 2-0 (NJPW Cup in 2023, Dynamite in February 2025).

Returning to his home region of the Pacific Northwest, Allin will be on hand to celebrate his upset win over MJF this past Wednesday in a short match with a strong likelihood the former champion also makes an appearance.

The current lineup is rounded out by former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida vs. Mina Shirakawa for the first time ever. Shirakawa confronted Shida and Kris Statlander during Thursday’s Collision, telling Statlander she doesn’t trust Shida.

Referred to as simply Jericho during the promo read on Thursday’s Collision, he will appear live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, after he said just three words this past Wednesday in Winnipeg.

Queen Aminata will make her return from injury after missing five months with a tall task in front of her: a challenge of reigning TBS Champion Willow Nightingale.

Ahead of his challenge of AEW World Champion MJF at Dynasty, Kenny Omega will be on the show for the final time before the match.

After a union was made Thursday backstage, Darby Allin, Jack Perry and Brody King will take on Andrade, Konosuke Takeshita and Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family.

No holds barred match set for AEW Dynamite

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm and Marina Shafir will run it back this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite in a no holds barred match.

Storm and Shafir did battle on Sunday’s AEW Revolution in a match where everyone was banned from ringside. Storm picked up the victory, but got a surprise afterward when former UFC and WWE titleholder Ronda Rousey appeared to call Storm out, leading to a pull apart confrontation.

Rousey was not announced as joining Shafir this Wednesday and it’s unclear what her role with AEW could be moving forward. She is currently preparing for her return to MMA in May.

It will be their fourth-ever singles match with Storm remaining a perfect 3-0 thus far.

As of now, the match is the only one announced for the Revolution fallout edition of Dynamite.

Dem Bucks vs. FTR & Tommaso Ciampa part of updated AEW Dynamite lineup

This Wednesday’s Revolution go-home edition of AEW Dynamite will see the Young Bucks team up with Mark Briscoe for the first time since 2010.

The unorthodox trio will battle FTR and Tommaso Ciampa after Ciampa turned heel on Briscoe during Saturday’s AEW Collision. The Bucks will challenge FTR for the AEW World Tag Team titles at next Sunday’s Revolution.

The Bucks and Briscoes feuded for years with the two sides aligning just once in their careers back at ROH SoCal Showdown in January 2010.

Announced late Saturday night was a new tag team match that will pair Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli against Konosuke Takeshita and Hechicero. Moxley will defend his Continental title against Takeshita at Revolution, but this match was born out of Saturday’s Collision main event that saw Takeshita defeat Castagnoli with a brawl breaking out among all four men afterward.

TBS Champion Willow Nightingale will defend against new CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone after she defeated Mercedes Mone this weekend for the title.

After David Finlay made a surprise appearance last Wednesday, he and Gabe Kidd will take on Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy in a grudge match.

The new additions join the previously announced MJF/Hangman Page press conference and TNT title defense with Kyle Fletcher vs. Mike Bailey.

AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander will defend her title against Thekla for a second time but with a stipulation that will be revealed on Saturday. Statlander successfully defended against Thekla last Wednesday, but their rivalry will continue.

Next Wednesday will also feature a three-way number one contender’s match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Myron Reed) will take on both the winners of Young Bucks vs. GOA at this Saturday’s Collision in addition to a wild card team. Kenny Omega’s return match set for next AEW Dynamite

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will look to take a step toward a future World title shot on next week’s Dynamite.

Omega will take on Josh Alexander after a verbal confrontation with the Don Callis Family during Wednesday’s show. While they have been on opposite ends of several tag team matches, this will be the first-ever singles match between the Canadians.

On Wednesday, Omega appeared in the ring after Hangman Page’s win over Bryan Keith. Swerve Strickland also joined the fray as all three men are vying for a World title match, followed by Callis and some of his crew interrupted to set up the Alexander match.

Omega hasn’t wrestled since the December 17 Holiday Bash Dynamite in Manchester, England, when he teamed with the Young Bucks against Hechicero, Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita. It will also be his first singles match since last July’s All In when he lost to Okada.

Alexander is coming off a Continental title eliminator loss to Jon Moxley on the New Year’s Smash Dynamite. He teams with El Clon and Kyle Fletcher this Saturday against Skyflight.

It’s the only match announced thus far for the show.

Kenny Omega set to return on AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage

After calling out AEW World Champion MJF last Wednesday, former champion Kenny Omega will appear on next Wednesday’s Maximum Carnage episode of Dynamite.

Announced at the end of Wednesday’s show, Omega could confront the winner of next Wednesday’s MJF vs. Bandido World title match, perhaps setting up a title match for March’s Revolution, if not sooner.

A new women’s trios match will see AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander team with AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Babes of Wrath against the Triangle of Madness after the challenge was issued in a backstage segment by Thekla and the Sisters of Sin.

After chasing after him the entire episode and spraying him with a fire extinguisher, Darby Allin will finally get his rematch with PAC. It will be their third-ever AEW singles match with Allin still in search of his first victory. PAC defeated Allin at November’s Full Gear with Allin chasing a rematch ever since.

Three matches set for AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday

The first three matches are set for next week’s Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite.

After successfully defending her title against Riho at last month’s All Out, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will look to keep her near-500 day run as champion going in an open challenge against “someone local from Florida.”

After the Gates of Agony defeated Swirl during Wednesday’s Dynamite, The Hurt Syndicate came out to confront the GOA and Ricochet and challenge them to a trios street fight this Tuesday.

Also during Dynamite, Don Callis issued a backstage challenge to reigning AEW World Tag Team Champion Brodido for a match against AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita, who was not happy about Callis offering up the match. It was never formally announced so it’s unclear if it’s for the titles.

The live show from Jacksonville, Florida, is taking place on Tuesday with Collision airing live on Wednesday due to the Major League Baseball playoffs on TBS.

  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against TBA
  • The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) in a street fight
