Jamie Hayter cleared to return to AEW, next match announced

After a brief respite, former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter has been cleared to return to action and has her next match already set.

Announced Tuesday, she will team with Alex Windsor on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite as the Brawling Birds take on opponents to be named.

Windsor last competed at April’s Dynasty, failing to defeat reigning champion Thekla in a physical match. Windsor mentioned on AEW TV that Hayter wasn’t cleared, but it’s unknown what injury she was dealing with. Windsor also failed to defeat Thekla in her own title shot.

Trios match added to AEW Dynamite

A new trios match is set for the next AEW Dynamite.

After Alex Windsor, Jamie Hayter, and Mina Shirakawa won a quick squash match on Saturday, the Brawling Birds took the mic and each told Shirakawa that they had nothing to do with the attack on Toni Storm, and would have her back moving forward. That brought out Thekla and the Sisters of Sin, who mocked the trio in the crowd. Thekla said they can’t handle the Triangle of Madness and swore on Storm’s “cold dead body” that if any of them try it with the Triangle of Madness, they would end up the same as her.

Shirakawa took the mic and told Thekla that they will face off next week and would “beat the p***” out of them.

Storm was found attacked and bloodied earlier this month just as she was about to face Marina Shafir in a no holds barred match. Shirakawa took her place and emerged victorious, but was unable to beat Thekla the following week for the Women’s Championship. Thekla has denied any involvement with Storm’s attack, suggesting Storm did it herself in order to avoid her.

The IInspiration lose in under 90 seconds in AEW Dynamite debut

The AEW Dynamite debut for The IInspiration didn’t go too well for either Cassie Lee or Jessie McKay.

The duo made their debut on AEW TV as part of Wednesday’s show from El Paso, Texas, taking on The Brawling Birds of Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter.

That debut lasted just under 90 seconds bell to bell as the undefeated Birds finished off the former WWE Women’s and former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions with their Two Birds One Stone Hart Attack-esque finisher. That was preceded by Lee and McKay asking for their entrance music to be played twice so they could continue to dance.

The two made their AEW debut as part of last month’s two-night tour of Australia, first appearing on the Sunday non-televised House Rules event, defeating two local wrestlers. They made their first on-screen appearance on last Saturday’s Collision in a pre-taped promo, calling out Hayter and Windsor.

Lee and McKay wrapped up their most recent TNA stint in January, dropping the Knockouts titles to The Elegance Brand. They are on multi-year deals with AEW and will head to Japan later this month to challenge for the TJPW Princess Tag Team titles.

MJF-Hangman Page face-to-face part of updated AEW Dynamite lineup

A face-to-face and the Brawling Birds are part of and updated AEW Dynamite lineup.

It was announced on Saturday that MJF will meet Hangman Page in a face-to-face after both were successful at Grand Slam Australia. In the main event, MJF retained the title over Brody King. But as he was celebrating, Hangman Page came out with his title contract and signed it, placing it on MJF’s feet as the champion began talking a big game. Page turned around to leave but then faked MJF out which caused the champion to fall to the floor.

Earlier in the show, Hangman Page emerged victorious over Andrade El Idolo, establishing himself as the next contender for the AEW World title after many AEW stars, including Swerve Strickland and Kenny Omega, expressed interest in a future title match.

The Brawling Birds, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, will also make their television debut. The two have appeared in vignettes together in recent weeks establishing themselves as part of the women’s tag team division. They made the save for Kris Statlander on Dynamite after she was attacked by all three members of the Triangle of Madness.

AEW Dynamite (February 18)

  • Kenny Omega vs. Swerve Strickland
  • MJF/Hangman Page face-to-face
  • Brawling Birds TV debut
