Couple Konosuke Takeshita & Yuka Sakazaki announced for TJPW event

Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling is now all set to host their upcoming TJPW Grand Princess 2026 show at Ryōgoku Sumo Hall, and has now officially announced their first match. Earlier today on social media, TJPW pushed out the first match announcement, where AEW star Konosuke Takeshita will team up with his wife, Yuka Sakazaki.

The married couple announced via a social media upload that they will be in action. The couple will take part in a special tag-team against two unnamed opponents. The video segment was recorded last year in December during the AEW Worlds End PPV.

Sakazaki is a TJPW veteran and is a former 3-times Princess of Princess champion. She spent the majority of her career there at the Japanese promotion and is currently an active part of the ROH roster. While Takeshita is one of the top stars in AEW, he is now set to make his TJPW debut.

TJPW Grand Princess 2026 is set to take place on March 29th at Ryōgoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

TJPW Grand Princess 2026 lineup | March 29th, 2026

Currently, TJPW has announced only one match for the show, although several other big names have been announced to be a part of Grand Princess 2026, such as Sareee, Léi Yǐng Lee, Aja Kong, and Super Sasadango Machine.

Our live coverage kicks off at 7 PM Eastern.

**********

Here we are, friends. Another Final Battle’s Eve is upon us. I hope that you and yours are gathered around the Final Battle tree, singing Final Battle carols and enjoying some Final Battle Nog. Don’t forget to leave cookies out for Athena and a carrot for Billie Starkz! (Seriously, they’ll break your stuff if you don’t feed them).

Tonight will round out the card for tomorrow’s magical Final Battle event (until Santa Tony gifts us with half a dozen day-of matches as he’s apt to do), so let’s get right into it.

The Beast Mortos (w/Sammy Guevara) vs. Komander

And there isn’t a bigger way to get into it than with The Beast Mortos! Mortos will compete in the ROH World Championship Survival of The Fittest match at ROH, along with his tag team partner Guevara and his opponent tonight, Komander.

Mortos waved off the Code of Honor, which brought out the matador in Komander as Mortos charged him and he dodged it. Mortos grabbed Komander and threw him into the corners with heavy spashes and lariats to follow.

Komander landed an awesome headscissor takedown to switch the momentum and set Mortos up for a charge in the corner. Mortos back body dropped him, but Komander scrambled to the top anyways for a missile dropkick.

Komander walked the ropes and tried a fancy move, but Mortos grabbed him off the rope and hit a knee to the back that split Komander in half. Mortos hung Komander up on the ropes and started undoing his mask. The ref called him off and Mortos puched Komander in the face instead.

Mortos dragged Komander to the middle of the ring and started messing with his mask again. Komander tried a quick rollup, but only got a two count. He rained down kicks on Mortos and took him down with a hurricanrana.

Mortos tried to intimidate Komander, but some chops and a top rope spingboard hurricanrana kept Komander on offense. Mortos exited the ring and Komander dove after him, flattening him on the entrance ramp.

Komander tossed Mortos back in and went up top. He went for a running splash, but Mortos moved and transitioned into a samoan drop. Mortos went for a powerbomb, but Komander turned it into some kicks and a DDT for a two count.

Komander charged, but Mortos caught him in another Samoan Drop. Mortos landed on his head though and seemed to daze himself. Komander went up top, but Mortos was playing possum and knocked him off the turnbuckle.

Mortos went for a superplex, but Komander came back with a hurricanarana. Mortos caught him though and delivered an inside-out lariat (I call it that because it turned Komander inside out). Mortos went for the cover, but Komander kicked out and hit a poisonrana.

Komander went up top again, bvut Sammy Guevara appeared and knocked him down, causing the DQ.

Match Result: Komander defeated The Beast Mortos via DQ

Guevara then pulled the mask off of a prone Komander. That summoned the RHO Champion, Bandido, who ran down to clear the ring and save Komander.

Suddenly, Don Callis appeared on the ramp and spoke worse Spanish than even I’m capable of. He introduced Hechicero who will also be in the Survival of The Fittest Match at final battle.

While he was doing this, Mortos and Hechicero jumped Bandido and Komander, taking them both out. Hechicero and Mortos then played tug-of-war with the Belt, which was broken up by Guevara. The three pulled it back and forth until Guevara put it down and the segment ended.

The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese, Ariya Daivari & Stori Denali) w/Mark Sterling vs Philly Collins, Marino Tanaglia and Zoey Lynn

The Athletes started off with their usual schtick and the match began with Daivari takingon the much larger Tanaglia. Nese tagged in and the two beat him up. Denali then tagged in and beat up Tanaglia for a bit. That did bring in Lynn though, who was about half the size of Denali and lasted about half a second.

Tags were flying fast as Nese tagged in and took out Colins with some stiff forearms. Collins managed to hold his own with an insiguri and tagged in Lynn who went for a crossbody on Nese and Davari, who caught her and threw her to Denali who finished her off with a chokeslam for the pin.

Match Result: The Premier Athletes defeated Philly Collins, Marino Tanaglia and Zoey Lynn

Sidney Akeem vs Rosario Grillo

Akeem danced his way to the ring. Grillo walked, but we don’t hold that against him.

Grillo immediately ducked through the ropes after the bell, playing some mind games with Akeem. When they locked up, Grillo got a wristlock on, but Akeem flipped it easily and after a kipup, sent grillo to the mat. Akeem dodged a lariat with an awesome matrix-style reverse duck.

Grillo sent him to the corner, but Akeem fought back and hit a dropkick, sending Grillo to the ropes. Grillio went for another lariat, but Akeem flipped over amnd ducked it. Grillo punched him in the face and the fight moved outside the ring until Akeem tossed Grillo back in.

Grillo bounced Akeem’s head off the turnbuckles repeatedly before Akeem hit a spinning crossbody and regained control. He threw a flurry of kicks and punches before, and follow me here, he ran up Grillo’s back, kicked him in the face and then landed on his feet. Yeah, I know.

Akeem hit a handspring cutter on Grillo and boom, that was it. Akeem got the win in impressive style.

Match result: Sidney Akeem defeated Rosario Grillo

Wow! Akeem looked amazing in this match. He was dodging and flipping everywhere and it all made sense and looked really impressive. He’s on his way for sure.

Dalton Castle & The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) vs. Jake Omen, Austin Adonis and Josh Crane

The Outrunners are missing Fianl Battle tomorrow, but Dalton Castle will be in action taking on Ricochet in the latter’s first defense of the AEW National title.

Magnum kicked things off against Omen, who made them mistake of posing. Magnum immediately showed him the business and posed himself. That brought in Adonis and Floyd. Castle decided to join the fray and all three triple teamed Adonis.

Adonis dragged Magnum to the opposite corner for a little triple team of their own and then he and Crane tried for a double team. Magnum fought them off and Floyd came in so that they could do stereo splashes in the corner before Floyd hit a double bulldog.

Adonis slapped Floyd which hulked him up big time and he sent him flying. Castle tagged in and took out oall three of the opponents with a series of hip throws. The Outrunners cleared the ring and Castle grabbed Omen for a slam and an Outrunner double elbow.

Castle hoisted him up in a bangarang and that was it. Castle and the Outrunners go to 4-0 as a team.

Match Result: Dalton Castle & The Outrunners defeated Josh Crane, Austin Adonis and Jake Omen

After the match, Ricochet sauntered out to the entrance ramp and the Gates of Agony took out the Outrunners in the ring, leaving Castle to stand toe to toe with his opponent for tomorrow. All three went after Castle, and Ricochet belted him with, well, the belt. Castle lay prone in the ring while Ricochet and the Gates stood tall in the ring.

Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia) vs. Damian & Damon Reel

Reely?

Anyway, Yuta and his hair arrived with Garcia through the crowd with their usual emo faces. Yuta and (I think) Damon started things off with Yuta and immediately fell victim to Yuta’s arm-based offense. Yuta dropkicked him into next week and Garcia took out the other Reel. The two then stomped Damon in the center of the ring.

Garcia tagged in and laid ten punches into Damon in the corner. Damon fought back a bit, but Garcia just tagged in Yuta who started working the leg of Damon. Yuta put him in a figure four and Garcia tagged in to punch him in the back of the head.

Damon got a tag to Damian who came in and ducked a few clotheslines. Garcia caught him with a big lariat though and Yuta kicked Damon off the ring apron. The two then traded speedy splashes on Damian in the corner. I mean about 2 dozen of them.

Garcia put Reel in a Sharpshooter and he tapped out quickly, giving the Death Riders the victory.

Match Result: Death Riders defeated Damian & Damon Reel

-Backstage, a very sad Queen Aminata (in full neck brace) officially forfeited her Women’s Pure Tournament Semi Final match with Deonna Purrazzo. Purrazzo moves into the finals against the winner of the other semifinal match, Yuka Sakazaki vs Billie Starkz.

“Undisputed” ROH Women’s TV Champion Mercedes Mone vs Lovely Miss Larkin

So they had been touting this as Mone’s ROH debut, but the chyron said she was 2-0, so along with her 13 or so belts, she also has that going for her.

Larkin seemed to be working a tourettes gimmick (?) and Mone immediately got her into a backstabber and lungblower into a rear naked a choke. That was it for Larkin as she tapped.

Match Result: Mercedes Mone defeated Lovely Miss Larkin

That was really disappointing. They played it up as a big deal debut, but Mone spent more time dancing to her theme music than in the match. I’m sure tomorrow nights match will be great, but what was the point of this?

ROH Women’s Pure Title Tournament Semi Final Match: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Billie Starkz

The clock started and Starkz kicked off the match making fun of Sakazaki’s height. From there, Starkz sent Sakazaki into the ropes to cost her a break at 58:39. Stakz tried to set her up for a submission, but Sakazaki sent her out of the ring.

Sakazaki followed Starkz outside and sent her into the ring apron (the Sakazakiest part of the ring!) and then back into the ring. Starkz grabbed Sakazaki by the hair and sent her to the mat. She clubbed her in the corner and whipped her across the ring.

Starkz hit a DDT and went for a cover, but only got a two count. Sakazaki got up and started throwing elbows. Sakazaki tied Starkz up in the ropes, forcing a break at 55:33. Starkz cam right back, putting Sakazaki into a combination arm and neck hold.

Sakazaki fired back up and hit a bit strike on Starkz, who responded with her one closed fist shot. Starkz hit a suplex and went back to the raised arm lock, forcing Sakazaki to use her scond break at 54:14.

Sakazaki dropped a knee from there and picked up Starkz for a snow plow. She went for the cover but Starkz kicked out at two. Sakazaki grabbed an ankle lock in the middle of the ring and Starkz pulled them both to the ropes, using her second break at 52:26.

Sakazaki went up top, but Starkz threw her off and went up top hersself. She tried a Swanton, but Sakazaki moved and went up for a crossbody. She tried the pin, but Starkz kicked out at two.

Starkz then slammed Sakazaki with a resolve slam. She tried a leg lock, but Sakazaki kicked her way out of it. Starkz put it back on and wrenched the knee. Sakazaki grabbed Starkz ankle and the to twisted each other’s legs, neither one wanting to use their last break.

Starkz wrenched down and Sakazaki pulled back and both women used their final breaks simultaneously at 50:25, a first in a Pure Match!

They started trading forearms, wth Sakazaki coming out on top. Starkz went for a big boot and the slugging continued. Starkz stacked Sakazaki up and used the ropes for leverage (apparently totally legal!) to pin Sakazaki and punch her ticket to the finals at Final Battle tomorrow night!

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Yuka Sakazaki

ROH Women’s Pure title tournament semifinals set for next week

Image: AEW

After being introduced in the spring, Ring of Honor is one step close to finally crowning their inaugural Women’s Pure Champion.

On Friday’s ROH on HonorClub in a match taped last week in Boston, Yuka Sakazaki defeated Serena Deeb in the remaining quarterfinal to advance to a semifinal clash with Billie Starkz who advanced back in September with a victory over Olympia.

Sakazaki got the pin while Deeb’s right foot was on the bottom rope but Deeb had exhausted her rope breaks so it counted.

The other semifinal will see Deonna Purrazzo against Queen Aminata with the finals set to take place at next Friday’s ROH Final Battle streaming special in Columbus, Ohio. Purrazzo advanced in November with a victory over Trish Adora while Aminata defeated Taya Valkyrie back in August.

It’s expected both semifinal bouts will be taped this Wednesday prior to AEW Dynamite in Fishers, Indiana, as they are set to air on Thursday’s HonorClub show.

Konosuke Takeshita and Yuka Sakazaki confirm they are married

Konosuke Takeshita and Yuka Sakazaki have confirmed they are a married couple.

There had been speculation in recent years that the two had wed, and on Tuesday, they confirmed the rumors. Takeshita shared photos of the couple wearing wedding rings and posing on the beach with their dog, Kenshiro.

A translation of his post reads:

“This is a personal matter, but today I’d like to introduce my family.
I’m about to turn 30. I spend my days trying to act like a respectable adult, but there’s still so much I can’t do. I’m still so inexperienced that it would be quicker to list 100 things I can’t do than 10 things I can.
My wife Yuka helps me with those 100 things every day without batting an eye. Rather than just giving me a push, she gives me a shove when I need it. She’s always by my side, sharing both the happy and the sad moments.
As we continued our life together in America, a dog came into our lives. Our goldendoodle, Kenshiro, was supposed to be a miniature, but he’s growing bigger and bigger. Maybe he picked up something from watching how we live.
I’ll keep doing my best so that Yuka and Kenshiro can live happily each day.
That’s what I wanted to share with you today.
From now on, I’ll continue to give my all in the ring, treating each and every match with care. Thank you for your continued support.”

It’s not clear exactly when they were married or how long they have been together.

Konosuke Takeshita and Yuka Sakazaki

Sakazaki hasn’t wrestled since defeating Viva Van on the Jericho Cruise on January 31. Her last match for AEW came two days earlier, when she was defeated by Mercedes Mone on the January 29 episode of Dynamite. She last appeared for another promotion on January 4, wrestling for Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling at Korakuen Hall.

Takeshita is coming off a win at Double or Nothing, where he teamed with Kyle Fletcher and Josh Alexander to defeat Paragon. His most recent match outside AEW was a successful defense of the NEVER Openweight Championship against El Phantasmo at NJPW Resurgence on May 9.

AEW Collision notes: Challenges, Max Caster, in-ring returns, Don Callis Family

Saturday’s Homecoming edition of AEW Collision featured a pair of challenges, a new Max Caster open challenge, and a trio of in-ring returns.

Challenges

Following he and Brody King’s tag team victory over the Gates of Agony, Buddy Matthews decided to challenge reigning AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada after Okada laughed at the newly-christened Hounds of Hell in a backstage segment.

Okada had no interest to which Matthews retorted that him being turned down made Okada a bitch which the champion didn’t care for. Earlier in the night, Okada defeated Komander in a champion vs. champion match.

Later in the show, Penelope Ford challenged former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa to a match after they got into a verbal disagreement, and Darius Martin called out Lio Rush given the issues between their respective teams.

In all cases, no date or location was announced with this Wednesday’s Collision TV taping following Dynamite as a strong possibility.

The Max Caster open challenge series

After former AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed split up last week, Max Caster is now on his own and declared on Saturday that he is holding his own open challenge series. He called himself a survivor and he wanted to see who the other survivors are even though they can’t beat “the best wrestler alive.”

AEW continues to get healthier by the week with three wrestlers making their announced in-ring returns after long absences:

  • After being out for more than half a year, former AEW World Champion and former TNT Champion Samoa Joe opened the show with a win over Nick Wayne. He was taken out by Chris Jericho in a street fight last July as a storyline cover for him returning to work on the second season of Twisted Metal for Peacock
  • In a trios match, Cool Hand Ang/Angelo Parker returned to the ring for the first time since last August, getting pinned in a trios match that featured himself, Daniel Garcia and Matt Menard against Adam Cole, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly. It was his first AEW match since last April while he wrestled three times in ROH from June through August. He and wife Ruby Soho got married and celebrated the birth of their first child in October.
  • Yuka Sakazaki returned to AEW for the first time since last September and made it an impactful return, earning a TBS title shot this Wednesday against Mercedes Mone.

Don Callis Family expanding?

In a brief taped vignette before AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita’s title defense against Katsuyori Shibata, Don Callis noted to his family that there might not just be five of them, insinuating more members could be coming.

Mercedes Mone vs. Yuka Sakazaki TBS title match set for AEW Dynamite

Mercedes Mone will be defending her TBS Championship to close out the month of January as she defends against Yuka Sakazaki this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.

Sakazaki (seen above) earned the title shot by pinning Deonna Purrazzo via rollup in a four-way TBS Championship eliminator bout on Saturday’s Collision which also included Queen Aminata and Serena Deeb. It was Sakazaki’s first AEW match since last September when she failed to defeat AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May at Grand Slam Dynamite.

This will be their first-ever match against each other.

Mone’s reign as TBS Champion began back on May 26, 2024, when she defeated Willow Nightingale at AEW Double Or Nothing to capture the title. Sakazaki has never held AEW gold.

Here’s the current lineup for this Wednesday at the Propst arena in Huntsville, Alabama:

  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Yuka Sakazaki
  • Jeff Jarrett vs. Claudio Castagnoli where if Jarrett wins, he earns an AEW World title shot
  • Will Ospreay vs. Brian Cage

Two matches added to AEW Collision

Two more matches have been announced for Collision.

On Friday, Tony Khan announced on social media that the winner between Queen Aminata, Deonna Purrazzo, Yuka Sakazaki, and Serena Deeb would face Mercedes Mone on next week’s AEW Dynamite.

This week’s Dynamite had Mercedes Mone being interviewed backstage when she was interrupted by Harley Cameron, who played a song essentially asking Mone for a future title match. Mone blew her off, saying Cameron had never won a match in AEW.

Early Saturday morning, Khan also announced a champion vs. champion match. AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, who will be making his debut at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, will face ROH Television Champion Komander.

Here’s the current lineup for Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida:

  • Mariah May & Toni Storm meet face-to-face
  • TBS title number one contender’s match: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Queen Aminata vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Serena Deeb
  • Champion vs. champion match: AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada vs. ROH Television Champion Komander
  • Big Bill vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker vs. Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong)
  • Buddy Matthews & Brody King vs. The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
  • AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita defends against Katsuyori Shibata
  • Samoa Joe vs. Nick Wayne

Yuka Sakazaki returning to action on AEW Collision

After a five-month absence, Yuka Sakazaki is returning to the ring.

AEW has announced that Sakazaki will return on this Saturday’s Collision, facing off against Serena Deeb. The two are resuming their rivalry after Sakazaki was forced out of action this April due to a leg injury. The injury happened during a match where Sakazaki defeated Emi Sakura.

“With Yuka Sakazaki cleared to return, The Professor + The Magical Girl are back on course to collide,” Tony Khan tweeted. “They finally fight 1-on-1 on Collision! Yuka Sakazaki vs Serena Deeb on Saturday!”

Starting this year, Sakazaki is now based in the United States after graduating from Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling. She’s made appearances for AEW since 2019.

Yuka Sakazaki suffered legitimate leg injury on AEW Rampage

Yuka Sakazaki was injured on AEW Rampage.

During her match against Emi Sakura on Saturday’s show, Sakazaki attempted a springboard move on the top rope but tumbled awkwardly to the outside. She came up limping and was favoring her leg throughout the remainder of the match.

“Yuka Sakazaki’s leg injury in her bout last night in Peoria, IL with Emi Sakura was legit,” writes our own Dave Meltzer. “As of this morning, the exact injury and its ramifications weren’t clear. She gutted her way through the match but the injury did change things.”

Sakazaki won the match with a suplex off the ropes at 9 minutes 30 seconds.

Sakazaki was announced as having graduated from Tokyo Joshi Pro last May as she planned to relocate to the United States in 2024. She made her AEW return at the April 3 Collision, defeating Trish Adora in her first match back. She also wrestled Leila Grey on Wednesday’s ROH tapings in Indianapolis. The match will air on a future episode of ROH on HonorClub.

Yuka Sakazaki graduating from TJPW, will be based in USA in 2024

Yuka Sakazaki plans to be based out of the United States beginning in 2024.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW) held a press conference on Monday where it was announced that Sakazaki would graduate from the promotion at the end of the year. Her final match with TJPW will be the company’s 10th Anniversary show from Korakuen Hall on December 1, 2023. After that, Sakazaki plans to continue her wrestling career while being based in the United States.

Sakazaki debuted with TJPW in late 2013, less than a year after the promotion held its first show. She is a three-time Princess of Princess Champion, won the Tokyo Princess Cup in 2022, and has held the Princess Tag Team Championships four times, once with Shoko Nakajima and three times with Mizuki, including their current run with the titles.

Sakazaki has regularly performed for AEW over the last four years, even wrestling on its inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing 2019. She has a career record of 14-7 in the promotion. Sakazaki has also been active with Ring of Honor in 2023. She unsuccessfully challenged Athena for the ROH Women’s title at Supercard of Honor in March.

In a backstage promo on this week’s ROH TV episode, the Women’s World Champion challenged Sakazaki to face her for the title at the Supercard of Honor pay-per-view set for Friday, March 31.

In the promo, Athena bullied interviewer Lexy Nair, and stated that Sakazaki was afraid of her after Athena rammed her leg into the ring steps. Athena said that Sakazaki has continued wrestling in Japan, but was afraid to come back to America to face her.

The match is likely to be formally announced on next week’s ROH TV show.

Just two matches are currently official for Supercard. Here is the announced lineup to this point:
