AEW’s Hook announced for World title match

AEW wrestler Hook is scheduled to compete for the GCW World Championship.

The former FTW Champion was announced as part of two GCW events [Game Changer Wrestling]. He is set to make his much-awaited GCW debut against Joey Janela at GCW Race Against Time on June 16, 2026.

He is then set to follow it up with another appearance on GCW Amerika’s Most Wanted in Los Angeles on June 27, 2026. Here, he is scheduled to challenge Atticus Cogar for the GCW World Championship. GCW Amerika’s Most Wanted is set to take place at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Hook is currently an active part of the AEW roster, where he most recently competed on the Double or Nothing match card, teaming with The Opps (Anthony Bowens & Katsuyori Shibata) in a loss against The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, & Daniel Garcia). The son of wrestling veteran Taz, Hook is also The Opps’ acting leader during Samoa Joe’s absence.

The 27-year-old Hook is also the son of WWE veteran and current AEW commentator Taz. He also acts as The Opps’ leader during Samoa Joe’s absence.

AEW releases full card for Collision

AEW Collision airs live from the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois, on Saturday night. And AEW has already put out a full card for the show.

Kevin Knight will defend his TNT Championship against Hook of the Ops in what appears to be the main event. Knight just pinned MJF on Dynamite and is scheduled to challenge Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship on Wednesday in North Charleston, South Carolina. Hook has most recently been seen welcoming Samoa Joe back from the injury list and recruiting Anthony Bowens into the Ops. His last AEW TV match was a loss in a tag team match, teaming with Powerhouse Hobbs in a defeat against Hangman Page & Swerve Strickland.

There will be two other championship matches on Collision. Willow Nightingale will defend her TBS Championship against Anna Jay, who will be wrestling on TV for the first time since November. Her last match came in a team with Tay Conti, losing to Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir in a tournament for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships.

Also, Jack Perry will defend his National Championship against Mascara Dorada.

In other matches, the Death Riders will team with the Dogs to face Top Flight & the Rascalz in a 10-man tag team match; Juice Robinson & Ace Austin will team up to face Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta; and the Conglomeration and Skye Blue will both be “in action.”

AEW Collision airs at 8 p.m. Eastern on TNT and HBO Max.

AEW Collision (May 2):

  • TNT Champion Kevin Knight defends against Hook

Anna Jay’s return, three title matches part of AEW Collision lineup

After being out since last November, Anna Jay is making her return to AEW this Saturday and already has a title match set.

Jay will challenge reigning TNT Champion Willow Nightingale in Peoria, Illinois, as Nightingale continues to welcome back those who had been off TV for quite some time (Hikaru Shida, Kamille, Queen Aminata).

The two have shared the ring ten times in AEW with their last singles bout coming in November 2022. It’s unclear if Jay has signed a new deal with AEW as previous reporting had her deal up in the spring.

Jack Perry will defend the AEW National title against Mascara Dorada for the first time ever.

After defending against MJF on Wednesday’s Dynamite, Kevin Knight will put the title on the line against Hook in another first time ever match.

In a ten-man tag, The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, PAC and Claudio Castagnoli will team up once again with The Dogs’ David Finlay and Clark Connors against The Rascalz and Top Flight.

The Death Riders’ Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia against the Bang Bang Gang of Juice Robinson and Ace Austin rounds out the card.

AEW wrestler Hook to make GCW debut in June

Over four years into his pro wrestling career, Hook has appeared almost exclusively for All Elite Wrestling. But he’s going to be competing for a major indy in the state of Ohio soon.

Game Changer Wrestling has announced that Hook will be making his debut with the promotion at Race Against Time. The event will take place at 8 p.m. Eastern at the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Friday, June 19.

Also advertised for the show: VNDL48 (the stable of Atticus Cogar, Otis Cogar, and Christian Napier), Joey Janela, Jordan Oliver & Alec Price, Billie Starkz, and Vipress.

Hook debuted for AEW in December of 2021. Per Cagematch, he has wrestled only two matches outside of AEW. One of those—a win over Ortiz—was a dark match for Ring of Honor, effectively AEW’s developmental territory, last December. The other came in January, when he defeated Leo Sparrow at the Limitless Rumble, a Limitless Wrestling event in Lewiston, Maine.

Hook has not wrestled on AEW television since January, when he teamed with Powerhouse Hobbs in a loss to Adam Page & Swerve Strickland in a lights out match on Dynamite. Since then he has been seen in a series of vignettes trying to keep the Opps running after Hobbs’ departure and Samoa Joe’s injury. Joe returned to action on Dynamite this week, and embraced Hook after his match.

Former champion not cleared for Blackjack battle royal at AEW Revolution | Exclusive

Former AEW Trios Champion Hook was originally slated to be in the 21-man Blackjack battle royal for the National title at Sunday’s AEW Revolution, but didn’t appear in the match.

According to our Bryan Alvarez, the reason was that he wasn’t medically cleared at the last minute. However, Alvarez said he is expected to be fine. It’s unknown what injury he currently has.

Hook’s inclusion was revealed during Saturday’s Collision.

The 26-year-old hasn’t wrestled since a late-January indie appearance with his last AEW match taking place on January 7 in a lights out tag team match. He has been seen on AEW TV as the self-appointed leader of The Opps, taking Samoa Joe’s place as he recovers from a reported concussion. Fellow Opps member Katsuyori Shibata made his return in the battle royal after being in Japan.

Jack Perry won the battle royal and took home the AEW National title, dethroning inaugural champion Ricochet.

New leader of The Opps revealed during AEW Collision

One member of The Opps is taking over the operation while Samoa Joe is out injured.

During Saturday’s Collision, Hook revealed that Samoa Joe has given him the leadership of the group while he recovers from injury. In his promo, Hook said they were in a different position than they were just a few weeks ago, as they’ve lost both the World and Trios titles in the last month. He said Joe appointing him the boss of The Opps was something he wouldn’t take lightly and named himself the greatest second generation wrestler of all time.

The Opps’ fortune has changed dramatically in the last month, with Powerhouse Hobbs choosing not to renew his contract, jumping to WWE where he recently made his debut at last week’s Royal Rumble. He, Shibata, and Joe dropped the Trios titles to Hangman Page and Jetspeed on the January 14 edition of Collision. Soon after, it was announced that Joe was injured during training and would be out of action for the foreseeable future.

Hook joined The Opps at Full Gear, turning his back on Eddie Kingston and Hangman Page after helping Samoa Joe win the title from Page during a steel cage match.

AEW’s Hook announced for multiple 1FW shows

All Elite Wrestling star and active member of Samoa Joe’s The Opps, Hook, has now been announced for several new 1FW shows toward the end of January and February. Currently involved in helping Joe get back his AEW World Championship on All Elite Wrestling television, the 26-year-old is also set to make his 1FW debut.

Sharing the announcement on social media, 1FW opened up in detail about Hook’s debut alongside his appearance dates.

HOOK is officially stepping into a 1FW ring for the very first time — and this one hits different. The former FTW Champion and AEW’s Cold Hearted Handsome Devil brings a level of intensity and presence that very few in the business can match. From his silent confidence to his ruthless in-ring style, HOOK doesn’t come to make friends… he comes to dominate.

This is a debut that changes the entire landscape of 1FW. When HOOK walks through that curtain, every opponent knows exactly what time it is — and there’s nowhere to hide once the bell rings.

The former FTW Champion will be appearing live on January 30 in Buford, January 31 in Hartwell, and February 1 in McDonough. Joining Hook on all three dates will be current MLP Women’s Canadian Champion and former TNA Knockouts star Gisele Shaw.

1FW or One Fall Wrestling is an American indie wrestling promotion, where, over the years, several current and former AEW talents have wrestled. 1FW is available to stream on Triller TV.

Hook describes his AEW character: ‘I’m me’

Hook’s AEW persona isn’t much of a departure from who he is in real life.

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Hook was asked to describe his AEW character to anyone who might be unfamiliar with him. Hook said everything he is in AEW, from his personality to his fashion choices, is who he genuinely is.

“Ah, man — I’m me,” Hook said. “I’m a dude from New York. My father’s one of the greatest ever, and I’m the greatest second-generation wrestler of all time.”

Hook (Tyler Senerchia) noted that, when he was growing up, his father Taz wanted him to be “anything but a pro wrestler.” Hook was a top lacrosse player in college and studied business before dropping out.

“I thought I wanted to go work in business. Once I was taking classes, I was like, ‘I can’t do this with my life.’ So, I opened my mind up to something else I’m passionate about with different creative outlets,” he said. “And then I had my mind and eyes kind of opened up to pro wrestling being the perfect hybrid of two of my biggest passions, between being an athlete and being creative, being an artist. So, it was very organic the way it came about. And it is the purest passion in my life, 100 percent.”

While Taz did not initially want his son to become a wrestler, he ended up encouraging Hook to enter the business. Taz’s perspective was changed by how much the industry has changed since his days in the ring.

“It’s really cool,” Hook said about working with his father in AEW. “I mean, it’s something I try to remind myself to be really grateful for. Because, naturally, me and my father can butt heads — as fathers and sons do. But I value all of his advice so, so deeply. Being able to have someone right there like my father, it’s something I don’t take lightly and I’m very, very grateful for.”

Hook made his AEW debut in 2021 and has now been wrestling for more than four years. He told Busted Open that, along with wrestling, he’s really passionate about acting and wants to pursue both careers simultaneously.

AEW wrestler Hook announced for indie show

Another AEW wrestler has picked up a booking for Limitless Wrestling in Maine this month.

The indie promotion has announced that Hook will be in action at Limitless Rumble 2026 on Friday, January 16. It will be Hook’s debut for Limitless, with the show also set to feature his AEW co-workers MJF, Eddie Kingston, and Ortiz. Hook’s match for the event has not been announced.

“[Hook] is coming to the 2026 Limitless Rumble on Friday, Jan 16th @ the historic Colisée in Lewiston, ME!,” Limitless wrote. “The second-generation standout & final FTW Champion makes a rare appearance outside AEW for his Limitless Wrestling debut!”

The son of ECW legend Taz, Hook made his pro wrestling debut for AEW in 2021. He recently turned heel in November 2025 by helping Samoa Joe win the AEW World Championship from Hangman Page. Joe’s reign didn’t last too long, though, as he dropped the title to MJF in a four-way match at Worlds End.

MJF — if he is still champion when the show takes place — will be defending his AEW World Championship against Alec Price at the Limitless Rumble. For the title to be on the line, MJF needs to retain his belt over Bandido on AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage on January 14.

Kingston & Ortiz are facing indie team Channing Thomas & Anthony Greene in a tag bout at Limitless Rumble.

World title change, heel turn & former champion’s surprise return close AEW Full Gear

In a dizzying sequence that closed Saturday’s AEW Full Gear, AEW has a new men’s World Champion in Samoa Joe, a new heel in Hook, and the return of Swerve Strickland from injury.

Joe won his second World title by defeating Hangman Page in a steel cage match in the night’s main event. That was aided by Hook who rejoined The Opps and hit Page with the World title belt which set up a Joe muscle buster that finished Page off to end a bloodbath between the two — the third-such match on the PPV.

Hook’s entrance was preceded by Katsuyori Shibata attempting to interfere only to be taken out by Eddie Kingston. Powerhouse Hobbs then got in the cage which brought out Hook and the aforementioned turn, reuniting him with the team that he was part of before he went out of action with a concussion.

As Joe was celebrating in the ring with a gang of Opps dojo members, the lights went out and an image of Page’s burning house played on the video wall. New music started playing, Prince Nana appeared, and then did Strickland who has been out of action since August’s Forbidden Door after getting knee surgery to deal with an old injury.

Joe, still pouring blood out of his head, offered up Page to Strickland as a sacrifice only to have Strickland go after him and take out the various dojo members one-by-one. Page eventually came to, joined Strickland, and the two stared down Joe and The Opps as they left up the ramp.

**********

Joe and Strickland have history as Strickland’s first World title run began at April 2024’s Dynasty when he defeated Joe for the gold. Strickland and Page also have their extended history, but made peace with each other this summer.

The loss ends Page’s second title run at 133 days which began at July’s All In Texas when he defeated Jon Moxley followed by five successful title defenses before Saturday.

The show ended at 12:30 AM Eastern.

Four-way number one contender’s match set for AEW Fright Night Dynamite

As part of this Wednesday’s Fright Night edition of AEW Dynamite, four men will compete for the right to challenge AEW World Champion Hangman Page at next month’s Full Gear.

Announced during Saturday’s Collision, former champion Samoa Joe will take on Bobby Lashley, Ricochet and Hook in the four-way from Edinburg, Texas.

Joe would appear to be the favorite after he and The Opps turned heel following his failed challenge of Page at last Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream. Page called out Joe during a show opening promo Saturday, promising to do far worse than embarrass and beat Joe, and instead would ruin his life.

Lashley has only three singles bouts in AEW since debuting in 2024 and is undefeated. His recent rival in Ricochet has won three straight and is 9-1 in his last ten while Hook has won 12 straight including on Saturday’s Collision over Griff Garrison.

  • Samoa Joe vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Ricochet vs. Hook in a four-way no. 1 contender’s match

Eddie Kingston returns to action at AEW All Out, makes new alliance

After nearly 500 days, former AEW Continental Champion Eddie Kingston is officially back to in-ring action after Saturday’s All Out and now has a new friend coming out of Toronto.

Kingston defeated Big Bill in the second match of the pay-per-view, landing a second spinning back fist for the win.

After the match, Bryan Keith joined in on a post-match attack on Kingston, prompting Hook to make an appearance to aid and align with fellow New Yorker Kingston. After parting ways with The Opps recently, he mentioned perhaps needing to find a new crew. The two have never teamed or opposed each other to this point.

Kingston’s last match came 497 days ago at NJPW Strong Resurgence, losing his then-Openweight title to Gabe Kidd in a no rope, last man standing match. He tore his ACL and meniscus in addition to fracturing his leg during the match after hitting his leg on a guard rail while being suplexed through a table.
