The ROH Pure Championship will be defended on AEW Dark.
Wheeler Yuta is set to defend his belt against Tony Nese on the show.

This week’s edition of Dark was filmed on June 11 from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Tuesday News Update
WWE
Cody Rhodes on Instagram wrote about Randy Orton’s 20th anniversary: “I have an assortment of jovial stories about this man – but often I miss the mark on the most important aspect…Randy Orton took me under his wing; perhaps begrudgingly or not, but he did it sincerely. Up in the stands earlier in the day, in the car, in the locker room, on the apron…constantly delivering wisdom and functional advice, and it came from a place of experience and wasn’t just rhetoric. His passion for our sport is aggressive. Loud and proud. Did it his way and in the process entertained millions. Thank you. Cheers to 20 @randyorton.”
Edge revealed the name of his new stable consisting of himself and Damian Priest last night on Raw. Together, they are now known as Judgment Day.
Main Event matches for this week include The Street Profits vs. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin and Liv Morgan vs. Nikki A.S.H.. This will be the 500th episode of the show, which launched back in October 2012.

In an interview with WrestlingInc, Wheeler Yuta talked about his new role in AEW as part of the Blackpool Combat Club. He also said that Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley have been helping him with promos. “It’s absolutely a part of my game that I have been working on, and been trying to improve, and they’ve been very helpful with a lot of that. It’s really cool to be able to stand there and do interviews with them,” he said. “On Dynamite, we did one before the match with The Gunn Club that aired that week on Rampage, and just being able to kind of discuss with them how they approach just doing interviews was mind-blowing to me. They’ll stand in front of mirrors and work on gestures, and things like that. Things that I never thought of, there’s drills for that, just like there’s drills for being in the ring. Being able to stand by them and learn from example watching them, and also having my little moments where I can interject my own verbiage, or my own personality has been really helpful.”
Variety reported that Warner Bros. Discovery will be cutting scripted programming development at TBS and TNT.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Tetsuya Naito says he doesn’t have any interest in challenging anyone from AEW for the Forbidden Door show in June. Instead, he sees many in AEW challenging him. “There is no wrestler I want to call out,” he said. “The reason is simple. Wrestlers in AEW will all gather and shout, ‘I want to wrestle Tetsuya Naito!’ and ‘I want to fight Los Ingobernables de Japon!’ It isn’t hard to see this happening. It won’t take long before it does.”

The Bollywood Boyz credited DEFY for their help in securing visas following their release from WWE in an interview with Slam Wrestling. “We’ve gotta give props and much love to DEFY Wrestling who called us within days of us getting released, and they took care of us, they took care of our visa situation, because obviously without a visa, we’re not going to be making a name for ourselves in the States,” said Gurv Sihra.

A dark match featuring AEW talent and ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta has been added to Saturday’s NJPW Windy City Riot show.
Yuta will team with Rocky Romero against frequent tag partners Kevin Knight and The DKC. The match was announced on Tuesday.
As part of AEW’s Best Friends group, Yuta was inducted initiated into NJPW’s CHAOS faction, which includes Romero as a member. In recent weeks on AEW television, Yuta has been courted by William Regal, Bryan Danielson, and Jon Moxley of the Blackpool Combat Club.
Yuta and Romero vs. Knight and The DKC will start at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time for the live crowd.

Join on-camera personality Denise Salcedo as she breaks down two very newsworthy episodes of WWE Smackdown and AEW Rampage. On the WWE side of things, we have some call-ups and name changes, and on the AEW side of things, we had a major main event between Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta. This is a very fun episode of Speak Now Pro Wrestling.
The following are both spoilers for this Friday’s AEW Rampage and Monday’s AEW Dark: Elevation from the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, which featured an incredible match.
AEW Dark: Elevation for Monday
Leyla Hirsch and Christina Marie went to a no contest after Hirsch appeared to blow out her knee on a backward somersault flip off the ropes. The match was immediately stopped and Hirsch was helped to the back.
Frankie Kazarian submitted Teddy Goodz. Lots of “Teddy” chants as he had a lot of fans in the building.
Diamante defeated Ashley D’Amboise
Dark Order (Alan Angels, John Silver, 10, Alex Reynolds and Stu Grayson) defeated Gunn Club (Colten, Billy, Austin) & Chaos Project
Kip Sabian was at ringside and in the arena doing the box on the head deal for everything before Dynamite.
AEW Rampage for Friday
Bryan Danielson defeated Trent Beretta
William Regal came out on commentary.
This was an entertaining match that was exactly what you would expect. The fans did the “You’re gonna get your f**kin’ head kicked in chant” early on.
Action spilled to the outside as Beretta took Danielson over with a reverse Frankensteiner. He then skinned the cat, but got kicked in the midsection when he jumped off the apron down.
A Danielson tope was reversed into a back suplex, but Beretta then ran shoulder-first into the stairs.
Both guys emptied out the tanks near the end. There was a pin attempt exchange, followed by a Beretta jumping and spinning DDT. He later reversed an avalanche back suplex attempt, landing on top of Danielson. He hit a half and half suplex and a spinning clothesline, but that wasn’t enough.
Danielson hit his running knee strike, a Gotch-style piledriver, ten stomps to the face and a nasty face crank/crossface chicken wing of sorts for the win.
– Lexy Nair attempted a backstage interview with Hook who didn’t say anything as he ate a bag of chips. He left and when he threw the chips away, Danhausen popped out of the trash can and attempted to put a hex on him. Hook tossed the chips and left, leaving Danhausen (still in the can) to retrieve said chips and eat them.
Scorpio Sky in-ring promo with Ethan Page and Dan Lambert
The TNT Champion defended his decision to end the open door challenge. Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti came out (and got some boos and a ‘shut the f*ck up’ chant). The two went back and forth with Lambert delivering a Bill Buckner ball between the legs joke.
Page said he hopes his daughter doesn’t end up like Conti. Guevara said he doesn’t care. The boos for Guevara and Conti kept growing. They said they will keep coming out until they get the match they want and to wait until next week. The crowd reaction to what are supposed to be the babyfaces was interesting.
Swerve Strickland defeated QT Marshall (w/ Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solo)
Strickland got tossed over the top and essentially planted his hands on the apron and glided back to his feet in a 360 in an impressive spot.
Comoroto and Solo later got kicked out after attempting to interfere.
Strickland won with the flatliner followed by a surprise kick to the back of the head for the pin. This went a few minutes too long.
Ricky Starks came out from the commentary table and challenged Strickland for a tag match next Wednesday in New Orleans between he and Powerhouse Hobbs against Strickland and Lee.
Red Velvet defeated Willow Nightingale in an Owen Hart Tournament qualifying match
This was Nightingale’s Rampage debut and the crowd was behind her with lots of “Let’s Go Willow” and “Willow” chants.
Nightingale missed a back moonsault which opened up a Velvet offensive flurry, running knees and a superkick for a near fall.
A Nightingale spinebuster got two, followed by a big pounce that got the fans on their feet. The straps came down and she hit a rolling cannonball in the corner for a two count.
It wasn’t to be. A pinning sequence got all screwed up which led to Velvet hitting a spinning kick for the pin which the fans hated.
Jon Moxley defeated Wheeler Yuta
This was incredible and better than the Danielson vs. Eddie Kingston match in the same building back in October.
This was preceded by an intense promo between the two. This started at about 11;15 PM and the vast majority of the fans stuck around.
Yuta dove at Moxley before he could get in the ring which led to a big brawl in the crowd. This was competitive early and got the fans doing dueling chants for both guys. Moxley threw Yuta into the stairs which busted him open which changed everything. Moxley did some pushups waiting for him to come in which got some boos.
Moxley hit a superplex into a straight jacket choke of sort which Yuta escaped. That was followed by a Texas cloverleaf which he also escaped.
At this point, Yuta had the full crimson mask going. He hit a crossbody on Moxley from the ringpost to the outside, putting Moxley through a table.
Yuta later hit a sequence of rolling belly to back suplexes, but got stopped at the second one. He then rebounded with an Olympic Slam. He later hit a big splash off the top for two and smeared blood from his face all over his chest like a wildman. The crowd went crazy as things kept intensifying.
Yuta got revenge on Moxley for biting his head and racking his back earlier with his own such moves. He later kicked out of Dirty Deeds after jumping off the top rope into it. He fought out of a bulldog choke, survived Moxley’s knees to the head and got in his own bulldog choke.
He survived Moxley elbows and then kicked out of the Death Rider which fans could not believe. Eventually, Moxley got a sleeper/rear naked choke for the tapout to end this. Insane.
Danielson and Regal then entered the ring and Regal kept teasing he was going to nail Yuta. Yuta told them to bring it on, but they stood and talked with fans chanting “shake his hand.”
Eventually, Regal did and you would have thought Yuta won the AEW World title. It appears he is now part of the Blackpool Combat Club.
After the show, Tony Khan came out again and was jumping around in excitement. He raised Yuta’s hand and said, “A star is born!”
Bryan Danielson vs. Trent Beretta, Wheeler Yuta vs. Jon Moxley and two other matches have been announced for Friday’s AEW Rampage.
Other matches include Willow Nightingale vs. Red Velvet in a Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament qualifier and Swerve Strickland vs. QT Marshall.
On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the Blackpool Combat Club were interviewed about their upcoming Rampage matches. William Regal said that Yuta had impressed Danielson, but now he would need to impress Moxley. In a later interview, Chuck Taylor told Yuta that he still wanted Yuta in Best Friends. Beretta wasn’t into the idea, said he would defeat Danielson on Friday.
After an interview on tonight’s show, Swerve Strickland was attacked backstage by Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. Keith Lee got involved, with the segment ending after Lee sent Hobbs through a wall with the pounce.
Willow Nightingale most recently appeared at ROH Supercard of Honor last week, losing to Mercedes Martinez in a match that was for the interim ROH Women’s Championship.
Wheeler Yuta captured the Ring of Honor Pure Championship at tonight’s Supercard of Honor event, then his signing to a full-time AEW deal was announced by AEW and ROH owner Tony Khan on Twitter.
Yuta defeated Josh Woods to win the Pure title after the two traded pinning combinations.
Yuta made his AEW debut in June 2021 as an enhancement talent on Dark: Elevation, but was quickly aligned with the Best Friends group and has been a staple on television and Being The Elite ever since.
Also at Supercard, Mercedes Martinez defeated Willow Nightingale in a match to determine the interim ROH Women’s World Champion. Deonna Purrazzo remains the official ROH Women’s World Champion, but was unable to defend the title at Supercard.
The ROH World Television Championship also changed hands at Supercard, as Minoru Suzuki defeated Rhett Titus with a Gotch-style piledriver to win the title in a short match.
The ROH World Tag Team Championship also changed hands, as FTR defeated The Briscoes to win the titles. FTR will make their first defense of the ROH Tag titles, and also put the AAA Tag titles on the line on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite against The Young Bucks.
In Supercard’s main event, Jonathan Gresham defeated Bandido to become the undisputed ROH World Champion. Gresham officially won the title at Final Battle in December after Bandido was stripped of the belt when unable to make a defense at the event, but Bandido made at least one defense of his version of the title at January’s Terminus event after never losing the belt in the ring.
AEW has announced a title celebration segment involving the Undisputed Elite and a match between Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta for Dynamite.
Adam Cole recently stole the AEW World Championship title belt from Hangman Page while reDRagon has done the same with the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Tony Khan announced Danielson vs. Yuta on Wednesday and also revealed that William Regal will be on commentary for it. The match will see a former ROH Pure Champion in Danielson facing the wrestler who will challenge Josh Woods for that title at Supercard of Honor on Friday. Danielson unified the ROH Pure and World Championships after defeating Nigel McGuinness in 2006.
Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite will emanate from the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.
The updated lineup for the show is as follows:
CM Punk vs. Max Caster
Jon Moxley vs. Jay Lethal
Bryan Danielson vs. Wheeler Yuta
Darby Allin (w/Sting) vs. Andrade El Idolo (w/Jose the Assistant)
FTR vs. The Gunn Club (w/Billy Gunn)
Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament qualifying match: The Bunny vs. a new AEW signee
For the first time since last December, the Ring of Honor Pure Championship will be defended in an ROH ring as Josh Woods will defend the gold against Wheeler Yuta at next Friday’s Supercard of Honor pay-per-view.
This will be the first time ever they have wrestled against each other.
Woods won the title from Jonathan Gresham at last September’s Death Before Dishonor and has seven defenses of the gold with the last three coming on indie shows.
Before Tony Khan purchased ROH, the old leadership’s plan was to focus on the World, Women’s World and Tag Team titles after returning from their three-month shutdown, forgoing the Pure and Six-Man titles. At least with the Pure title, that appears to not be the case anymore.
Yuta is under an AEW deal but frequently works high-level indies as well as New Japan Strong. Woods has worked some AEW Dark tapings in Orlando, Florida, since the initial ROH shutdown.
Here’s the current lineup for next Friday from Garland, Texas:
Jonathan Gresham vs. Bandido in a winner takes all match to determine the ROH World Heavyweight Champion
The Briscoe Brothers vs. FTR for the ROH Tag Team titles
Josh Woods vs. Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure title
It’s Monday and you know what that means: a six-match AEW Dark: Elevation taped last Wednesday at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. Paul Wight and Mark Henry were on the call tonight.
Lance Archer defeated Cameron Stewart
As usually happens on Dark shows, Archer brought his opponent to the ring and then destroyed him. Archer hit several lariats and then the Blackout to win the match and improve his record to 48-10. After the match, Stewart ate another lariat. It’s safe to say that Stan Hansen would happy with what he saw here from Archer.
Ruby Soho defeated Session Moth Martina
This was the AEW debut of Martina. Soho worked her left arm and shoulder while Martina used her trademark bants to confuse Soho to no avail. Soho hit No Future for the win.
Daniel Garcia (w/ 2point0) defeated Ray Jaz
Garcia (19-15) won this short match with a scorpion deathlock.
Scorpio Sky (w/ Ethan Page & Dan Lambert) defeated Shawn Dean
Lambert interfered on Sky’s behalf during the match. Sky targeted Dean’s back with several backbreakers. Sky finished off “The Captain” with the TKO ahead of his challenge of TNT Champion Sammy Guevara Wednesday.
While Sky has been undefeated over the last year, this match was also marked the end of Dean’s 2022 win streak.
Kris Statlander defeated Emi Sakura
Sakura attacked Statlander before the bell rang and gained an early advantage, but Statlander used her strength to turn things around. Powerslams and back breakers were her allies in this match as were a sidekick and the Big Bang Theory that helped her pick up the linear victory after Sunday’s loss to Leyla Hirsch.
Wheeler Yuta defeated Aaron Solo
This was a clash between two wrestlers that use speed as their primary weapon. Solo was too distracted working the crowd which Yuta used to his advantage. During the match, QT Marshall came out to distract both the ref and Yuta, but Yuta outsmarted everyone and pretended that Marshall attacked him to get him kicked out of ringside. Yuta used a mouse trap to win and improve his overall record to 20-15.
Final Thoughts:
AEW initially uploaded the wrong episode of Elevation for 26 minutes showing last week’s instead which was kind of funny. Must have been a long night after Sunday’s Revolution show.
The show was fast and to the point. The matches were fine but a special shoutout must go for the main event that was both a fun match and longer than most matches on this episode.
Ruby Soho vs. Session Moth Martina was announced as part of six matches for Monday’s AEW Dark: Elevation.
The 31-year-old Martina will be making her AEW debut. The Ireland native was last seen stateside working for Ring of Honor after turning down a WWE NXT contract in 2019, and has been working regularly throughout the UK.
Wheeler Yuta will also face Aaron Solo Monday. Neither wrestler has been in action since facing each other on the February 5th Dark tapings.
Kris Statlander will also face Emi Sakura. While it was her first match since a mixed tag match on the January 19th Dynamite, it will air the day after she lost to Leyla Hirsch on the Revolution Buy-In show.
All matches were filmed before last Wednesday’s Dynamite from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida:
It’s Tuesday and you know what that means: an eleven-match AEW Dark taped in The All Elite Zone at Universal Studios. As usual, Taz and Excalibur were on the call.
Lee Johnson defeated Darian Bengston
Bengston and Johnson were pretty much equal in terms of speed and things were pretty much a tie between both wrestlers. Bengston tried to go for a moonsault but failed to hit his target. Johnson then connected with theFisherman’s Buster for the win. Johnson was able to pick up his first win of 2022 in AEW and his record is now 1-1.
Sonny Kiss defeated Ashton Starr
Sonny started the match with a very impressive hurracarrana and Starr, not wanting to be outclassed, pulled off a great tilt a whirl backbreaker. Sonny Kiss with a Gamengiri was able to pick the win. His record is 2-1 in 2022 following this match.
The Acclaimed defeated B. Jack & Donovan Izzolena
This match was the AEW debut of Jack and Izzolena. Squash match, Max Caster with a Mic Drop to Izzolena and Bowens covered to improve their overall tag team record to 34-8.
Marina Shafir defeated Danielle Kamela
This match was the AEW debut of Kamela. Kamela worked Shafir’s left arm and shoulder for a good portion of the match. Shafir followed it up with a brutal bow and arrow to Kamela’s lower back. Shafir with a modified gogoplata won this match by submission and improved her 2022 record to 3-0, remaining undefeated.
Dante Martin defeated Jack Evans (w/ Jora Johl & Angelico)
This match had a very hot start. Martin tried to go for his usual high-flying stuff, but Evan’s experience helped him anticipate and counter any move from Martin. Evans used some llaveo (grappling) on this match to try to ground Martin, all while Johl and Angelico helped him from ringside. Evans worked most of the match on Martin’s chest with kicks and chops. Evans during the match pulled off a Suicidal Rider kick, a staple from The Great Sasuke. Dante Martin connected with an outside tornillo and the nosedive, and he was able to win this match and improve his overall record to 42-20.
Abadon defeated Sahara Seven
Sahara Seven dropped the biggest scream someone has never done during a match with Abadon, and it was pretty funny. This was basically a squash match. Abadon was able to win this match with a leg hook stomp and Abadon’s record is now 28-3.
Diamante defeated Vipress
Short match, Diamante with Code Red won this match, and her overall record is 35-19.
Kiera Hogan defeated Kelsey Raegan
This was the AEW debut of Kelsey Raegan. Hogan with several dropkicks during the match was able to keep Raegan at bay. A superkick by Hogan was able to end the match and improve her record to 5-1.
Daniel Garcia (w/ 2point0) defeated Josh Woods
Two technical wrestlers going at it. Woods worked Garcia’s left arm, all while using his size to take control of the match. Garica slowly took Woods down and took control of the match with his grappling. Garcia got a near fall with a stacked Saito suplex. Garcia tried to go for a Scorpion Deathlock, but Woods was able to counter into a small package. Garcia with a Gotch-style piledriver was able to win the match and his record is now 18-15.
Shawn Dean defeated Will Austin
Dean before this match talked about the upcoming Who We Are album and his track. Dean tried to go for a suicide dive but Austin connected with a kick and was able to stop Dean. However, Dean came back with a combination of a frog splash and The Deal was able to score the win. His record is now 3-0 in 2022.
Orange Cassidy & Wheeler Yuta defeated Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto (w/ QT Marshall)
Wheeler Yuta made the mistake of trying to overpower Nick Comoroto and paid big time for that mistake. Comoroto took Cassidy’s sunglasses off him with a kick, Cassidy was able to get them back and put them back on. Marshall intervened in favor of Solo and Comoroto during this match and was later sent to the back by referee Bryce Remsburg. This match had all the comedy bits we are used to in Orange Cassidy’s matches. An Orange Punch and a German Suplex from Yuta on Solo was all Cassidy and Yuta needed to win.
Final Thoughts:
Taz and Excalibur were fun to listen to as usual, especially anything regarding Taz and his hatred of Bryce Remsburg. The Wingmen had a fun backstage promo segment talking about fashion and spring. Dante Martin vs. Jack Evans the highlight of the show, but I would also recommend watching Garcia vs. Woods and the main event.
The lineup for this week’s edition of AEW Dark has been revealed.
Notable matches set for the show include Orange Cassidy & Wheeler Yuta teaming together to take on The Factory’s Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto. Dante Martin is also set to face Jack Evans.
Lee Johnson, The Acclaimed, Sonny Kiss, Daniel Garcia, Marina Shafir, and Kiera Hogan will all be in action as well.
The full lineup for Tuesday’s episode is as follows:
Abadon vs. Sahara Seven
Diamante vs. Vipress
Kiera Hogan vs. Kelsey Raegan
Marina Shafir vs. Danielle Kamela
Daniel Garcia (w/ 2point0) vs. Josh Woods
Shawn Dean vs. Will Austin
Sonny Kiss vs. Ashton Starr
The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs. B. Jack & Donovan Izzolena
Dante Martin vs. Jack Evans
Lee Johnson vs. Darian Bengston
Orange Cassidy & Wheeler Yuta vs. Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto
Kamela is making her AEW debut on tonight’s show. She was formerly known as Vanessa Borne in WWE/NXT.
This will be the fourth episode of AEW Dark to air from the tapings held at Universal Studios earlier this month. AEW will return to Universal Studios this Thursday for another set of tapings.
