WWE NXT live results: The fallout from Stand & Deliver

The Carmelo Hayes era of NXT officially kicks off tonight.

A new NXT Champion was crowned as Hayes defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. We’ll get Hayes’ first appearance as NXT Champion tonight.

Though interference by Trick Williams helped Hayes win the match, Breakker still showed respect for Hayes after his title win. Tonight’s NXT should provide some clarity over what’s next for Breakker.

NXT also has a new Women’s Champion after Indi Hartwell won the title in a ladder match at Stand & Deliver. Plus, Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn defeated Fallon Henley & Kiama James to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee and Tag Team Champions Gallus both retained their titles on Saturday. Gallus won after getting help from the returning Joe Coffey.

Announced for tonight is the NXT TV in-ring debut of Dragon Lee, who is taking on Nathan Frazer. Dijak vs. Odyssey Jones and Pretty Deadly vs. Tony D’Angelo & Stacks have been made official as well.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with new NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell first appearance on NXT since winning the title this past Saturday. Ring announcer Alicia Taylor introduces her as the new champ, and the live studio audience chants “You deserve it” for her.

Notably, the first 30 minutes of the show is “commercial free” tonight.

Hartwell gets in the ring to address the audience. This eventually leads to Zoey Stark interrupting her, but Hartwell first gives a heartfelt speech about finally winning the title. She goes on to say the first person that deserves a shot about her title is former champion Roxanne Perez.

Stark interrupts Hartwell, and Stark insults Hartwell by saying she is not on the same level as past NXT women’s champs. Stark claims we now have a champ that is easily beatable, and Stark challenges Hartwell to a title match tonight. Hartwell agrees to the title bout. That will not be the only title match on the card.

In an angle shot for social media, Axiom respectfully challenges NXT North American Champion Wes Lee to a match, and that looks official for tonight’s card.

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) defeated Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo

Prince pinned D’Angelo, after some trickery and an exposed turnbuckle. This tag team match was set up with an angle from Saturday at Stand & Deliver, where Tony D cut a promo on Pretty Deadly when they, acting as host of the show, asked a question “The Don” took exception to.

There is a spot late in the match where Prince is dragged to the center of the ring. He grabs the ring skirt and pulls it into the ring. That would come into play moments later when Pretty Deadly did a switcheroo, after Prince bonks heads with D’Angelo. Prince’s face is covered by the skirting, and Wilson switches places with him.

One is a blond, and the other a brunette, but they wore matching gear. With their faces and hair hidden, they look similar. Wilson begs off, pleading that he is not the legal man, which he was not indeed. D’Angelo is distracted with Wilson, allowing Prince to send D’Angelo into an exposed turnbuckle. Prince then rolls up D’Angelo for a tainted three count.

Jacy Jayne in a video package cuts a pre-taped promo on Gigi Dolan. Jayne threatens to break Dolan.

Dijak defeated Odyssey Jones

Jones pinned Dijak with a moonsault press. This hoss fight was set up last week in a battle royal. Dijak won clean as a whistle.

Dijak at one point gives Jones a Spicolli Driver for a near fall. Jones kicked out, but he would not kick out after Dijak immediately follows up with a moonsault press.

Dragon Lee is the focus of a hype video ahead of his match that is up next.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is shown arriving to the building alongside Trick Williams.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus in an interview with McKenzie Mitchell brag about themselves. The returning Joe Coffey vows to wins a singles title to go along with the tag belts the other two hold.

Dragon Lee defeated Nathan Frazier

Lee pinned Frazier in a great television match. This was Lee’s in-ring debut on NXT TV, after he first debuted in a NXT ring at Stand & Deliver.

The start of the match is interrupted by the return of Noam Dar, who is toting his NXT UK Heritage Cup. Dar comes to ringside and cuts a promo where he also brags on himself. Dar says he will decide who to defend his Heritage Cup against as he sees fit. Dar then watches the match from ringside.

Frazier was a great opponent for Dragon Lee to showcase his style to the NXT audience. They worked well together, and they eventually quickened the pace just before stalemate that led into a commercial break.

The match continues during a split-screen break. They slow down, but not for long. Dragon Lee during the break takes a bump off the turnbuckle where he tumbles to the outside. Please save that for the full screen.

They build to some high spots off the top, and Lee soon fires up with a flurry of offense. They go back to the top rope, where Lee jumps off for a draping double foot stomp.

Frazier cuts of Dragon Lee for a near fall. Frazier misses a Phoenix Splash, but he rolls through. They trade strikes and kicks. Lee gets a near fall on a wickedly cool spot where he reverses a running Spanish Fly, and Lee turns it into a sit-out powerbomb. Lee measures and delivers a running knee strike, and Lee covers Frazier for the pinfall.

A segment is set up for next week in a skit that aired tonight. Duke Hudson will be awarded a MVP trophy in a ceremony next Tuesday on NXT.

The new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre, are the focus of a vignette where they practice witchcraft, or something like that. They dare and curse any team trying to take the titles from them.

North American Champ Wes Lee does a backstage interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Lee puts over his opponents from this past Saturday, but Lee says he was most impressed with Axiom.

NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell defeated Zoey Stark to retain her title

The match goes through a commercial break. Stark is in control as the show returns from the break. Hartwell fight back, and Hartwell leaps off the top rope to deliver a flying elbow drop.

Trade strikes and Stark goes for a springboard. Hartwell counters into a spinebuster for a near fall. Starks cuts off Hartwell, and Starks executes her finisher on Hartwell. However, Hartwell takes the bump by falling through the ropes to the outside.

Stark has to leave the ring and roll Hartwell back into the ring. Stark goes for a cover, but Hartwell counters with a crucifix and a three count. The champ retains her title.

Tiffany Stratton comes out on stage after the match, and Stratton gestures towards Hartwell. Stratton want a title shot.

As Hartwell is having a staredown with Stratton, Hartwell is blindsided by a sneak attack. Cora Jace jumps Hartwell from behind, and Jade parades around holding the title belt overhead. Jade also has words with Stratton on her way out.

Kiana Jame is yelling at Brooks Jensen in the locker room. She was angry Jensen did not help her cheat in the tag title match last Saturday In walks Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs. Henley wants to know what is going on. Henley asks James if she is really mad at Jensen for not cheating when James herself is cheating on Jensen. James admits to “dating around” and seeing other people.

James claims her and Jensen were never an “exclusive” couple. James says things changed when they shared their first kiss, but James claims that changed on Saturday when her and Henley lost the tag titles. James storms off, and Jensen is heartbroken. Jensen then yells at Henley and Briggs, ordering them to stay out of his relationships. Briggs makes a remark at the end of the skit alluding to a women’s tag team match next week.

A tribute graphic is shown honoring the memory of Butch Miller.

Ivy Nile defeated Tatum Paxley

Nile submitted Paxley in a grudge match between former teammates. The Creed Brothers celebrate with Nile after the match.

This match was set up in an angle several weeks ago when Paxley turned on Nile during a tag match. The former tag partners now meet here in a grudge match. They have a competitive match, but it is rather short. Nile eventually applies a Dragon Sleeper, and Paxley tapped out.

Ilja Dragunov is doing a backstage interview when he is interrupted by Von Wagner. Mr. Stone rushes in, and he is upset with Wagner. Stone says he will get Wagner booked in a match against Dragunov, but if Wagner loses, Stone is done as his manager.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee vs. Axiom to retain his title

Lee pinned Axiom in a really good match. They wrestled through a commercial break. Good action during the bout where they fly around, but they also use some submission holds and such. Great counters. These two work well together.

As they go home, Axiom missed the Golden Ratio. Lee then follows up by landing the Cardiac Kick, and Lee covers Axiom for a pinfall to retain the title

They embrace after the match in a show of good sportsmanship. Lee then leaves the ring. Axiom is alone in the ring when a cryptic promo from Scrypts plays over the loud speakers. When Scrypts tries a sneak attack, he is thwarted by Axiom. Scyrpts springboards into the ring out of nowhere, but Axiom seems knocks him out of the air with a dropkick.

In a locker room interview with McKenzie Mitchell, Nathan Frazier believes he can turns things around despite his loss earlier tonight. Frazier has a “moment of enlightenment” where he says “when your perspective changes, your reality changes,” and he is sure that is what happened to him tonight. Very profound, whatever it means.

Hyped as “coming soon” to NXT is Tank Ledger, Dani Palmer and Oba Femi.

Announced for next Tuesday on NXT:

  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre defend their titles against former champs Kiana James & Fallon Henley
  • Ilja Dragunov vs. Von Wagner in match where Mr. Stone walks away if Wagner loses
  • Cora Jade explains her action
  • MVP (no, not that MVP) trophy presentation for Duke Hudson

Bron Breakker cheap shots Carmelo Hayes

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is headed to the ring, alongside Trick Williams, to celebrate the new title reign. This looks to be the segment that closes the show.

Williams cuts a promo first where introduces the new champ. Great back-and-forth between Hayes and Williams. Hayes says he is the NXT champ, “and I am him,” which is his new catchphrase. Williams proclaims “this is the him era.”

Hayes spoof a famous lyric to a rap song, before Hayes goes on to put over Bron Breakker as one of Hayes’ greatest and toughest opponents. Hayes says he truly respects Breakker, and Hayes calls him out to the ring to address him in person.

Breakker comes out to join Hayes and Williams in the ring. Hayes thanks Breakker on behalf of everyone at NXT. Breakker says the title holds a great legacy, and it was his duty to pass the torch when the next guy in line wins the title.

Breakker congratulates Hayes, and Breakker goes to leave. Hayes pulls him back into the ring and they embrace with a hug. Breakker raises Hayes hand, and in a something a seasoned viewer could see coming a mile away, Breakker cheap shots Hayes with a lariat. Breakker guzzles Williams, and Breakker picks him up for a military press into a powerslam. Breakker then spears Hayes, and Breakker lets out a primal scream.

Breakker saunters out of the ring, leaving Hayes down on the mat. The audience chants “one more time” as the show fades to black, which was hilarious given that was seemingly a heel turn. Or was it? After that cliffhanger, we will find out next week.

WWE NXT video highlights: New Year’s Evil

WWE began setting the stage for Vengeance Day on last night’s special New Year’s Evil edition of NXT.

An NXT Championship match between Bron Breakker and Grayson Waller took place last night, but it ended with Breakker retaining by countout after the ropes broke twice. Waller wasn’t able to beat the count after the second break.

Later in the show, it was announced that Waller will get a rematch against Breakker for the NXT Championship at Vengeance Day on Saturday, February 4. This time, the match will be inside of a steel cage.

Both members of Toxic Attraction will challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship in a triple threat match at Vengeance Day. That was made official after Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne simultaneously won a number one contender’s battle royal last night.

New Year’s Evil was also a night of returns with Jinder Mahal, Tiffany Stratton, and Gallus all appearing.

Finals set for WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament

The finals for the Women’s Tag Team title tournament has been set.

Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah will face Dakota Kai and IYO SKY on this coming Monday’s Raw to determine the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. Rodriguez & Aliyah defeated Sonya Deville & Natalya to advance, with Rodriguez pinning Deville with the Tejana bomb.

Earlier in the show, Deville and Natalya won a four-way last chance match to advance to the semifinals. Although they were eliminated in the first round of the tournament by Toxic Attraction, the last chance match was made after Gigi Dolin suffered a concussion, taking the team out of the tournament.

The winners of the match on Raw will win the vacated championships. Sasha Banks and Naomi, the former champions, were stripped of the titles and suspended indefinitely by WWE back in May after walking out of an episode of Raw.

Here is what has been announced for Raw:

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team titles: IYO SKY & Dakota Kai vs. Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah
  • Seth Rollins & Riddle face-to-face
  • WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle appears

Raquel Rodriguez says she was ‘fine’ with WWE changing her name

During an interview on the Bleav in Pro Wrestling Podcast, Raquel Rodriguez described what her reaction was to having her in-ring name changed by WWE.

The former Raquel Gonzalez was called up to the WWE main roster two weeks ago, debuting on SmackDown with the new name “Raquel Rodriguez.” Rodriguez told the Bleav in Pro Wrestling Podcast that she was fine with the name change and had no big arguments about it at all.

“They just basically said, ‘Hey, you’re getting a name change and this is it.’ And I was like, ‘Cool, that’s fine.’ I really had no big arguments with it at all. It was just a simple little switch,” Rodriguez said.

“It’s funny, I was just joking with Rhea [Ripley] last Friday because she was actually at SmackDown, and her initials are R-R. Rhea Ripley. And we’ve always joked about being a tag team, and we had our feud in NXT. Well, now my initials are R-R, Raquel Rodriguez. So it kind of just feels like it was meant to be, so I’m okay with it. We’re starting to think of new tag names.”

In NXT, Rodriguez was a one-time NXT Women’s Champion and a two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Rodriguez’s real name is Victoria Gonzalez. Dave Meltzer reported last week that Vince McMahon decreed in a memo that he doesn’t want anyone new using their real names anymore, nor using names that they already had on the indies.

On last Friday’s SmackDown, Rodriguez appeared in a backstage segment with Natalya and Shayna Baszler:

Gunther, Marcel Barthel, Raquel Gonzalez debut on WWE SmackDown

Gunther and Marcel Barthel, along with Raquel Gonzalez, made their debut on tonight’s SmackDown.

Barthel, now going under the name Ludwig Kaiser, introduced Gunther, now wearing red attire. After showing a video of Gunther attacking people on NXT, he quickly defeated local talent Joe Alonso. After their debut, Raquel Gonzalez was interviewed, now going under the name Raquel Rodriguez.

It had been reported that Gunther and Barthel, along with Gonzalez, were among the names being considered to be called up to the main roster. On this past Tuesday’s NXT, Fabian Aichner, also of Imperium, abandoned Barthel during a match against The Creed Brothers, allowing the brothers to score the win. Aichner is not expected to be called up to the main roster with Gunther and Barthel.

Gonzalez was being interviewed when Los Lotharios walked up to her and said they wanted to give her a kiss. Gonzalez rejected them, saying there was no chance. Gonzalez, along with Dakota Kai, dropped the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles on Tuesday back to Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacey Jayne) after winning them this past Saturday at NXT Stand & Deliver.

Lacey Evans reportedly returning to WWE TV, potential NXT call-ups

Lacey Evans is expected back in WWE shortly and there are several names from NXT who could be called up to the main roster in the near future.

According to a report from PW Insider, Evans is slated to attend Friday’s SmackDown in Milwaukee. She has been away from the company since announcing her pregnancy during the February 15, 2021 edition of WWE Raw. At the time, she was involved in a storyline where she was aligned with Ric Flair and feuding with Charlotte Flair.

Evans announced the birth of her second daughter on October 16, 2021.

According to a report from Fightful Select, numerous NXT talents have been pitched for potential call-ups to the main roster. Gunther and Marcel Barthel from Imperium have been discussed as possibly heading to Smackdown. Fabian Aichner, who walked out on Barthel in a match against the Creed Brothers this week, is not expected to be called up along with them.

Raquel Gonzalez is also believed to be heading to the main roster. Her and Dakota Kai dropped the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships to Toxic Attraction on Tuesday’s show.

LA Knight’s name has been discussed as possibly being called up to Raw or SmackDown as well, although his situation is said to be less certain than the others. There has also been talk of him being used as a manager.

Women’s Tag Team title rematch set for WWE NXT

Toxic Attraction are getting a rematch for the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles.

WWE has announced that tonight’s Stand & Deliver fallout edition of NXT will feature a Women’s Tag Team Championship rematch with Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai defending their titles against Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne.

Gonzalez & Kai won the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles from Dolin & Jayne on the Stand & Deliver pre-show this past Saturday.

This is Gonzalez & Kai’s second reign as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. The two reunited on NXT last week when Gonzalez saved Kai from a beatdown by Toxic Attraction.

Toxic Attraction leader Mandy Rose retained her NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver, defeating Cora Jade, Io Shirai, and Kay Lee Ray in a fatal four-way match.

Here’s the full list of what’s been announced for tonight’s NXT:

  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai defend against Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne)
  • We’ll hear from new NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes
  • Nikkita Lyons vs. Lash Legend
  • The fallout from Stand & Deliver

Grimes won the North American title by defeating Carmelo Hayes, Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa, and Grayson Waller in a ladder match at Stand & Deliver.

New NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions crowned at Stand & Deliver

Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez are the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

They defeated Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jane at NXT Stand & Deliver in Dallas on Saturday. Wendy Choo got involved by hitting Dolin with her pillow and throwing a drink in her face on the outside. This led to Gonzalez hitting Jane with a Chigona Bomb and picking up the victory.

This is the second time Kai and Gonzlez have won the titles. They were also the first-ever team to hold them. William Regal awarded them the belts on March 10, 2021 after they had won the Dusty Rhodes Classic at Vengeance Day the previous month. Kai and Gonzalez then lost the championships to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart on the same day they were awarded them.

Toxic Attraction’s title reign ends after 158 days. They won a triple threat ladder match at Halloween Havoc 2021 to win the titles from Io Shirai and Zoey Stark. They successfully defended the championships just once on WWE programming, defeating Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta at Vengeance Day.

Women’s Tag Team title match set for NXT Stand & Deliver pre-show

A match for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship has been announced for Stand and Deliver’s kickoff show this Saturday.

Champions Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne will face the reunited Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. This follows events that took place on tonight’s episode of NXT that saw Kai and Gonzalez reunite after a bitter rivalry.

Toxic Attraction came to the ring during tonight’s show and said that Wendy Choo and Kai had failed. They mentioned that they had beaten everyone and that there’s no teams left to face. Kai came out and attacked Toxic Attraction by herself, as Choo had been missing since the start of the show. The three beat down Dakota Kai until Gonzalez made the save, the two reuniting following a split that took place last year.

Here is the full card for Saturday’s NXT Stand & Deliver:

Triple threat NXT Women’s title match set for New Year’s Evil

Image: WWE

The NXT Women’s Championship will be on the line in a triple threat match at New Year’s Evil.

Mandy Rose will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade at New Year’s Evil. It will be Rose’s first title defense since winning the championship from Gonzalez at Halloween Havoc this October.

Rose defeated Gonzalez at Halloween Havoc following interference by Dakota Kai. At NXT WarGames earlier this month, Gonzalez, Jade, Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray defeated Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne & Kai in the women’s WarGames match.

Jade got the win at WarGames by pinning Jayne. Leading into WarGames, Jade defeated Rose in a non-title match.

Gonzalez defeated Kai in a street fight on NXT tonight. After the match, Gonzalez called out Rose and said she wanted an NXT Women’s Championship rematch. But Jade made her way out to the ring instead. Jade said Gonzalez deserves a rematch, but she wants a match against Rose too. Jade said she wants Rose and the rest of Toxic Attraction to pay for hurting her shoulder at WarGames.

Rose appeared on the video screen and said Gonzalez and Jade are both envious of her. Rose said that, since she’s in the holiday spirit, she’ll defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Gonzalez and Jade in a triple threat match at New Year’s Evil. Dolin and Jayne then attacked Gonzalez and Jade, putting Gonzalez through a table.

New Year’s Evil will be the first NXT episode of 2022. It’s airing live on USA Network on Tuesday, January 4. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa defends against Bron Breakker
  • NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defends against Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade in a triple threat match

WWE NXT live results: AJ Styles appears, Gonzalez-Kai street fight

AJ Styles is headed to NXT tonight and appears to be set for a confrontation with Grayson Waller.

The appearance was announced after Waller mocked Styles on social media. Waller made fun of Styles’ hair and called him out for riding Omos’ coattails. Waller said he loved Styles when he was a kid, but Styles has hung around too long.

Waller has laid out Johnny Gargano and LA Knight on NXT over the last two weeks.

Styles’ partnership with Omos came to an end on Raw last night after dissension between them. Omos gave Styles a press slam when the two fought after their loss to Rey & Dominik Mysterio.

The rivalry between Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai will come to a head as they face off in a street fight tonight. Pete Dunne vs. Tony D’Angelo, Dexter Lumis vs. Trick Williams, and The Creed Brothers vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans are also set for the show. Plus, Von Wagner will be in action.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa in the ring for a promo. Ciampa says as the NXT Champion is hunted, with all eyes on the champion. Ciampa is different than past champions, because Ciampa says he does the hunting. Ciampa says that last week Bron Breakker becomes the hunted.

Ciampa goes on to say Breakker will soon interrupt him, but he does need to do that. Instead, Ciampa invited Breakker to the ring. Out comes Breakker, and he goes to get a microphone. Ciampa tells Breakker he does not need a mic.

Ciampa talks about Breakker pinning the champ at the WarGames match last month. Ciampa says Breakker earned another shot at the title. Ciampa basically challenges Breakker to a title rematch on January 4 at New Year’s Evil. Ciampa chides Breakker by saying don’t “drown” like he did last time, bringing up Breakker losing to Ciampa in a title match in October at Halloween Havoc.

Breakker stares a hole through Ciampa as Ciampa tells Breakker he is not ready to be a champion in Ciampa’s NXT. Although Ciampa says Breakker is doing great, Ciampa tells him that he is not ready. Too much too soon. Ciampa goes on to mock the Breakker about Breakker winning the title. Ciampa throws in a Steiner reference without actually saying the word Steiner.

Ciampa’s tone changes, and he gets into Breakker face. Ciampa snarls at Breakker before slapping Breakker. Ciampa screams at Breakker. Breakker cannot take anymore, he grabs Ciampa by the throat and picks him up with a gorilla press. But Breakker puts him down. Breakker grabs the belt and says at New Year’s Evil there is blood in the water.

“This shark is going to eat you alive,” Breakker says to Ciampa. Breakker says he will see Ciampa in two weeks, and then Breakker leaves the ring.

Grayson Waller cut a promo on Instagram burying AJ Styles.

Dakota Kai ambushes Raquel Gonzalez

Raquel Gonzalez is backstage getting ready to go out to the ring. Dakota Kai tries to ambush Gonzalez with a crate, and the fight is on between the two. They were fighting backstage, but there match apparently was yet to start because neither made it to the ring. So they were basically having an impromptu Boiler Room Brawl.

They fight with props scattered around backstage. Kai tries to flee and throw stuff at Gonzalez to block her path like a low budget slasher movie. Gonzalez still manages to put Kai in the face with a high kick. Kai superkicks Gonzalez after hitting her with objects. Gonzalez is down selling as Kai tries to set up a table. Gonzalez ran into Kai with a cart, and then sends Kai crashing into a door.

The fight spills outside the building as the show cuts to a split screen commercial break. During the break, they brawl their way to the ring. The match finally begins.

Raquel Gonzalez defeated Dakota Kai in a street fight

Gonzalez pins Kai in what appears to a blow off to their feud.

There might have been more weapons used in the ring than during the brawl backstage. No rolling carts, though. They left the carts backstage. The ring and ringside area were littered with chairs, kendo sticks, and trash cans. Tables soon came into play as well, but nobody went through one set up in a corner.

They teased a spot through a table before Kai gives Gonzalez a hurricanrana, which sends them both out of the ring. A trash can is placed over Gonzalez’s head, and Kai leaps onto the trash can with a double stomp off the apron. Gonzalez soon counters Kai, giving Kai a powerbomb on the ring steps.

Back in the ring, Kai takes a powerbomb onto a trash can. Gonzalez then pins Kai for a three count.

Gonzalez grabs a mic to cut a promo where she calls out NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose. Gonzalez challenges Rose to a title match right here and now, and the show cuts to a commercial as we await an answer.

Tony D’Angelo in a pre-tape promo disrespects Pete Dunne. They meet later in match tonight.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez is still in the ring calling out Rose. Out comes Cora Jade instead.

Jade, with one arm in a sling, tells Gonzalez that she deserves a rematch with Rose. Jade says wants Toxic Attraction to pay for injuring her, and Jade says the way to do that is cut the head off the snake.

Gonzalez responds by basically telling Jade to not get in her way. Gonzalez says she will go through anybody to get her title back. Jade says not if she gets there first.

Mandy Rose interrupts them by appearing on the video screen. Rose was poolside wearing a swimsuit while also wearing her championship belt. Rose says the champ is speaking, and enough whining. Rose announces at New Year’s Evil she will defend her title against both Gonzalez and Jade in a triple threat match.

Jacy Jayne amd Gigi Dolan of Toxic Attraction hit the ring to blindside Gonzalez and Jade with a sneak attack. The heels were hitting the babyfaces with kendo sticks. Jade is sent outside, as Gonzalez tries to fight off the two heels by herself. Double-teamed and outnumbered, Gonzalez is beaten down. The table set up a corner earlier on was finally used when Toxic Attraction send Gonzalez crashing through it.

Gonzalez is laid out with the table crumbled over her as the heels leave the ring.

Joe Gacy in a promo apologies to Brian Kendrick on behalf of Harland, who threw Kendrick down a flight of stairs last week. Somehow, Gacy manages to blame Kendrick for the incident.

Grizzled Young Veterans were trying to act tough about their match with the Creed Brothers later on. This was an attempt at comedy I think.

Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell were backstage when Grayson Waller confronts them. Hartwell is mad at Waller for what he did to Dexter Lumis. Waller insults Lumis, and Pirotta has to hold Hartwell back from attacking Waller.

Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed with Malcolm Bivens) vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) went to a no-contest

Huge brawl between four teams, two from the match and two at ringside, led to the bout being thrown out.

The Creed Brothers with an early advantage as they work over Gibson. Brutus does not notice when Drakes makes a bling tag, which allows Gibson and Drake to take over. Jacket Time (Ikemen Jiro and Kushida) enter ringside carrying a mock announce table. Jacket Time becomes the impromptu Japanese announce team. Kind of spoof on the Bill and Buddy Show from Memphis wrestling from 30+ years ago (Google it kids as it’s highly entertaining).

Heat on Brutus as Grizzled Young Veterans work him over. Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen came down the aisle to watch the match from ringside. Hot tag by the Creed Brothers, but Brutus is soon cut off by tope from Gibson. A tease of powerbombing someone through the mock announce table. Jacket Time get up and get into the face of the Creed Brothers. Grizzled Young Veterans shove Creed Brothers into Jacket Time, kicking off a huge brawl.

All of the various teams both in the match and at ringside all begin to fight.

McKenzie Mitchell, wearing a holiday sweater featuring The Rock, interviews NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, who is wearing a Santa hat. Hayes and Trick Williams cut a promo on Dexter Lumis.

Dexter Lumis defeated Trick Williams (with Carmelo Hayes)

Lumis submits Williams. Match was not particularly good. To try and hide that, there was a lot of other stuff going on. Like much of this show, too much as going on. Very Russo, bro.

Lumis was in solid control until outside interference by Hayes. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong attacks Hayes to even the odds. Malcolm Bivens and Ivy Nile of Diamond Mine watch from a perch above the ring. Strong and Hayes brawl to the back.

Williams capitalize on the distraction to get heat on Lumis. Come back by Lumis. Williams tries to hit Lumis with a shoe. Lumis blocks the shoe and applies his signature sleeper hold. Williams passes out, and Lumis wins the match.

Grayson Waller from behind and out of nowhere hits Lumis with a chair. Waller lays out Lumis with chair shots. AJ Styles is seen arriving to the building in an SUV, and he is heading to the ring.

AJ Styles confronts Grayson Waller

After a commercial break, Waller is still in the ring. He is cutting a promo on the fans. The entrance of AJ Styles interrupts Waller’s promo. Thank goodness. The crowd goes crazy because Styles is a true superstar.

Styles tells Waller to shut up. Styles then cuts a promo on Waller. They go back-and-forth on the mic for a moment. Waller says Styles is here because his partner turned on him last night (which happened on Monday Night Raw). Waller insists that Styles wants Waller to be his new tag partner, which of course is not true. Waller says he is more of a singles guy.

Styles says Waller is calling him out because Waller wants a rub. Styles notes that Waller wrestles with gear, like his gloves for example, that is rip off of Styles. AJ responds by basically burying Waller, insinuating he is not yet ready to be a real superstar.

Waller threatens Styles. Waller says this is his ring, and Waller says he can “end” Styles right now. Styles dares him to do it. Styles says Waller thinks he is a superstar after three weeks, but Styles has been a star for twenty years.

Waller takes off his shirt, and teases a fight with Styles. Ever the heel, Waller instead leaves the ring. He tells Styles that Omos can have Styles firsy, and Waller has next. This seems to set up a match with Styles in a few weeks.

Another wackly skit with MSK and Matt Riddle where Riddle gives them Randy Orton merchandise. Riddle then reveals that next week MSK will call out Imperium, and Riddle vows to be at their side when they do so. MSK and Riddle then ride away on scooters, but they are hit by a vehicle. Suddenly, MSK wake up at the bus stop. Was it all a dream? They think so until they find a Riddle hat in their fanny pack. Riddle then appears, and they ride away on scooters. Riddle stops them to look both ways before they ride away.

Edris Enofe defeated Von Wagner

Enofe surprises Wagner by pinning him after a counter.

Enofe tries to attack Wagner at the bell, but to no avail. Wagner begins to pummel him. Continuing the theme of this show where people watch a match from ringside, Robert Stone looks on from the aisle. He is apparently scouting Wagner.

Wagner goes for a powerbomb (which is a move used and/or teased throughout this show), but Enofe counters with a sunset bomb. Enofe then scores a three count to win the match.

Wagner attacks Enofe after the bell, and Wagner beats him down to leave Enofe laid out. This seems to lead towards a rematch.

NXT Champions Imperium cut a promo on MSK in foreign languages. Finally, in English they say that MSK may have a shaman, but Imperium has a general. An obvious reference to WALER, so he could possibly be in the champs’ corner opposite MSK and Riddle.

Matches made official for two weeks time at New Year’s Evil:

  • Tommaso Ciapma defends the NXT Championship against Bron Breakker in a rematch
  • Mandy Rose defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez in a triple threat match

On her way to the ring, Elektra Lopez cuts a promo on Io Shirai. Lurking in the background unnoticed by Legado del Fantasma is Xyon Quinn.

Io Shirai defeated Elektra Lopez (with Legado del Fantasma)

Shirai pins Lopez after a bunch of gaga involving Xyon Quinn.

Lopez gains an early advantage, but Shirai soon fires up. Lopez cuts off Shirai when Shirai went for a moonsault.

Xyon Quinn storms onto the scene as he comes down to ringside. Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde try to stop him, but Quinn throws them aside like rag dolls. Quinn puts a mistletoe into his mouth as he climbs on the ring apron.

Quinn holds the mistletoe overhead as Lopez approaches him. Lopez grabs the mistletoe out of his hands as Santos Escoabr enters the scene to pull Quinn off the apron. Quinn reverses a whip and sends Escobar crashing into the ring steps.

Meanwhile, the match is still ongoing. A distracted Lopez is easy prey for Shirai. Palm strike by Shirai followed by a moonsault press. Shirai then covers Lopez for a three count.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes accepts the challenge for a title vs. title against Roderick Strong at New Year’s Evil.

Brian Kendrick is wearing a neck brace as he cuts a cellphone promo on Joe Gacy and Harland. Kendrick takes off the brace while saying he resigned as a coach in NXT. He also signed a waiver. Kendrick challenges Gacy and Harland to apologize to his face.

Announced for next Tuesday on NXT:

  • Contract signing for the unification match between North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong (hosted by Wade Barrett)
  • Dexter Lumis vs. Grayson Waller
  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolan & Jacy Jayne) vs. Raquel Gonzalez & Cora Jade in a non-title match

Pete Dunne defeated Tony D’Angelo

Dunne pins D’Angelo after a Bitter End. This was easily D’Angelo’s best singles match so far in NXT. D’Angelo gets his heat back after the match by attacking Dunne to lay him out.

Good sequences in the opening moment of the match. Dunne also kicked D’Angelo right in the side of the head at one point, which looked like it hurt.

The match goes through a commercial break as Dunne targets the fingers of D’Angelo. Dunne with joint manipulation as the show returns from the break.

D’Angelo cut off Dunne, and D’Angelo went for a float over. Dunne traps D’Angelo in a triangle, yet D’Angelo escapes the hold by powering out with a suplex. D’Angelo follows with an exploder suplex into a corner.

Comeback by Dunne with series of strikes and a near fall. Dunne stomps on D’Angelo, but Dunne collapses in a heap. Double down leads into them trading strikes. D’Angelo counters with a falcon arrow for a near fall.

D’Angelo grabs a crowbar that was hidden at ringside. He goes to hit Dunne with the crowbar, but Dunne counters him. Dunne transitions into applying an armbar. D’Angelo escapes and he takes out Dunne mouthpiece. Dunne soon counters again, and he snaps the fingers of D’Angelo. Bitter End by Dunne, and he covers D’Angelo for a pinfall.

D’Angelo attacks Dunne after the match, and D’Angelo gives Dunne a twisting fisherman’s buster on the floor at ringside. D’Angelo again grabs the crowbar. He puts the bar in Dunne’s mouth, and D’Angelo wacks Dunne in the hand with a shot from the crowbar. The show goes off the air with Dunne selling his arm.

Street fight set for next week’s WWE NXT

Former tag team partners Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai are set to collide in a street fight.

WWE has announced that a street fight between Gonzalez and Kai will take place on NXT next Tuesday. Gonzalez challenged Kai to the match on tonight’s show, saying that she needs to end Kai.

Kai lost to Cora Jade on tonight’s NXT. When Kai got a shovel out from under the ring during the match and went to use it as a weapon, the referee took it away from her. That distracted Kai and allowed Jade to roll her up to get the win.

Kai attacked Jade after the match and went to hit her with the shovel, but Gonzalez ran out to make the save. Gonzalez and Kai brawled to the parking lot, where it was broken up by officials.

Gonzalez cut a promo later in tonight’s show and said that things between her and Kai need to be over. Gonzalez said she looks back on her friendship with Kai as a positive, but the reality is that she needs to end Kai. Gonzalez challenged Kai to face her in a street fight.

The feud between Gonzalez and Kai began when Kai turned against Gonzalez this July. Gonzalez defeated Kai at NXT TakeOver 36 in August, but Kai made her return at Halloween Havoc and caused Gonzalez to lose the NXT Women’s Championship to Mandy Rose. Gonzalez, Jade, Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray defeated Kai, Rose, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne in WarGames earlier this month.

Gonzalez vs. Kai is one of three grudge matches that’s been announced for next week’s NXT. Von Wagner will also be in action on the episode. The full list of what’s been announced is available below:

  • Street fight: Raquel Gonzalez vs. Dakota Kai
  • Pete Dunne vs. Tony D’Angelo
  • Dexter Lumis vs. Trick Williams
