Former WWE star Carlito shares retirement timeline

Former WWE star Carlito gave a timeline on his retirement plans.

On the latest edition of the Insight Podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Carlito revealed he plans to continue wrestling for the next five years before retirement.

“I’m not that old yet. My body’s not that beat up yet. Yeah, like I said, I don’t, like the plan is five years but I think, I think I can make it five more years. I’d like to, yeah, But I’d definitely like to retire on my own terms.”

He also revisited his Judgment Day storyline with Raquel Rodriguez where he would be smitten whenever she appeared in the clubhouse. The initial plans were for it to run across a week but the comedic element of it expanded beyond the timeline.

“They were always, you know, Dom and Liv and I think so it’s these ideas they threw apart. But then they would, there would be no follow up. So kind of like Raquel and I would do little things to keep going. So it’s kind of like up to us. So I would just do that because it was another thing I could work off too. Because they’re going back to what I said because this guy that doesn’t get the girl. So this was kind of like the way I could be goofed by her to make it comedic.”

“So, that was yeah, those are just little things that we would do. But originally that they said like one week and then after that it was like bring it up anymore. The original idea was ‘hey, what do you guys think of this?’ And then we did that one, the only one where she showed up when I dropped the apple. And then after that, maybe not only, but it wasn’t, there wasn’t much follow up after it. But yeah, that was the original idea was this to me.”

Following his 2025 WWE exit, Carlito returned to World Wrestling Council (WWC), GMW and other independent promotions. He has not completely ruled out a potential WWE return in the future.

Raquel Rodriguez on 10 years in WWE: ‘My priorities have definitely changed a lot’

Raquel Rodriguez looked back on her 10-year anniversary with WWE, opening up about her growth, evolving mindset and lessons along the way.

Rodriguez told Soundsphere, in an exclusive interview, about the learnings in her ten year WWE career, and evolution as an in-ring competitor.

“I think I’ve learned that I’m much stronger than I believe.I can handle a lot more than I think I can. When you’re out there in this crazy business, you’re on your own, young, growing up through this business for 10 years. It’s the longest job I’ve ever held, by the way.”

“You really grow as a human, as a person and you learn what’s important in life. For me at least my priorities have definitely changed a lot. I’ve focused more on my health this year, I’ve focused more on my family and my connections and my relationships that matter to me the most.”

“That’s what really gets me through the long travel days and the long nights on the road when I miss my animals and I miss my family. But I’ve learned that I can do it and that I can stay strong. As long as I have my beliefs and my faith, there’s really nothing that can get under my skin these days.”

Rodriguez marked her WWE debut on NXT in 2016. Nearly five years later, she won the brand’s Women’s Championship from IYO SKY. She joined The Judgment Day in 2024 assisting Liv Morgan in her Bad Blood match against Rhea Ripley.

In 2021, Rodriguez and Dakota Kai (aka Charlie) became the inaugural NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. Following her main roster transition, she also held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with Morgan on multiple occasions. And seeks to regain tag team title glory alongside Roxanne Perez.

Women’s Tag Team title match part of next WWE Raw lineup

A Women’s Tag Team title match is part of the next WWE Raw lineup.

Greensborough, North Carolina next week will see a Women’s Tag Team title match where champions Paige and Brie Bella will take on Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez of the Judgement Day. Meanwhile, the Oba Femi Open Challenge will continue as long as there is someone, anyone, is willing to take on the man that defeated Brock Lesnar in quick fashion at WrestleMania 42.

Paige & Bella were confronted on Monday by their future challengers. Perez said she loved watching Paige and Bella back when they were young and relevant, and asked Bella if she remembered meeting her when she was a kid. Perez said that Bella told her that she could carry on the Bella legacy, but accused Bella of setting the bar too low.

After asking the duo to hand over the titles before another one of Paige’s scandals breaks, the champions attacked their challengers but Liv Morgan arrived to stack the odds against them.

Oba Femi came out on Raw for his open challenge, only for Adam Pearce to arrive and announce the challenge had been cancelled because no one wanted to face Femi. The irate ruler then headed backstage to find competition himself, running into Berto and Angel who earlier in the night were looking for an opportunity from Pearce. Femi dragged both to the ring and easily destroyed the two, picking up the win in an impromtu 2-on-1 handicap match.

Final two wrestlers qualify for WWE Elimination Chamber

The final two participants for the Elimination Chamber are set.

Jey Uso got the win in the final men’s qualifying match on Raw, defeating Bronson Reed and Original El Grande Americano in a triple threat match. Uso pinned Americano with a frog splash in a finish that was unplanned, as Bronson Reed was originally set to win. Reed suffered a torn biceps while breaking up a pin during the match and was unable to continue, leading to Jey Uso’s impromtu win. It was later announced that Reed would be out of action indefinitely.

For the women, Raquel Rodriguez scored the victory over Kairi Sane and IYO SKY. The finish had SKY hitting a tornado DDT, only for Sane to throw her out of the ring and go for the in-Sane elbow. Rodriguez got the knees up and connected with the Tejana bomb for the win.

It was established on Raw that the winner of the women’s Elimination Chamber match will now challenge Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s title at WrestleMania 42. Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan made her decision earlier in the show, attacking Stephanie Vaquer to set up their title match.

Women’s World title match set for next week’s WWE Raw

A Women’s World title match is set for the next WWE Raw.

After losing a six-woman tag team match earlier in the show, Raquel Rodriguez in an interview on Raw demanded another shot at Stephanie Vaquer. Later backstage, Vaquer told Adam Pearce she wanted to face Rodriguez as well. Pearce then made the match official for next week, but also revealed that it would be a Philadelphia Street Fight.

The feud between Rodriguez and Vaquer started earlier this month when Vaquer retained the Women’s World title against both Rodriguez and Nikki Bella in a three-way match. The following week, Rodriguez jumped Vaquer from behind and attacked her injured knee, slamming it on the ground and using Vaquer’s own title to attack the leg further.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event this past weekend Vaquer made her return, taking out Rodriguez after she interfered in the Women’s Tag Team title match, allowing Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY to retain the titles over Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez.

Update on Raquel Rodriguez after potential WWE Raw injury

Though there was concern about a potential head injury, Raquel Rodriguez has been cleared to compete.

Rodriguez was in action on WWE Raw this week in a match where she challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship. It ended in a no contest when Nikki Bella interfered and attacked both competitors. In her attack on Rodriguez, Bella threw her head-first into the steel steps. Rodriguez was legitimately shaken up when her head hit the steps. She was evaluated for a potential concussion but is good to go.

“Raquel Rodriguez was being checked out after Nikki Bella threw her head into the steps on Raw, but she’s been cleared,” Dave Meltzer wrote in the new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The spot left a sizable bump on Rodriguez’s head that could be seen in a promo she cut after Raw. Rodriguez declared that she is no longer just focused on Vaquer and the Women’s World Championship — she’s coming after Bella as well.

Rodriguez is a member of Judgment Day on the Raw roster. Neither Roxanne Perez nor Liv Morgan were at ringside for Monday’s title match because Rodriguez said she wanted to handle Vaquer all on her own.

Raquel Rodriguez credits two WWE legends for helping her improve

Raquel Rodriguez is crediting two WWE Hall of Famers for helping her improve in the ring.

In an interview with The Metro, Rodriguez said The Undertaker has been helping her behind the scenes and giving her some tips. She has also used recent criticism from Kevin Nash to help improve her in-ring game.

“Undertaker’s really stepped up, and he’s been giving a little bit more of his time and advice and his knowledge to everyone in the business, including myself,” Rodriguez said.

One area of focus for Undertaker has been Lucha Libre AAA, where he’s become “one of the big driving forces” backstage following WWE’s acquisition of the promotion.

In comments made on his podcast this July, Nash criticized Rodriguez for working too small and not maximizing her size as a strength. Rodriguez responded to that criticism with grace, showing respect for Nash and saying that she was going to start working bigger.

“Kevin Nash has been so gracious since the comments, and I think he really took my response in a very nice way as well,” she told The Metro. “He’s been nice enough to message me here and there and give me a little couple of tips about videos and matches that he’s seen.

“So I know he’s watching the product. I know he’s watching me, and that makes me feel good, because he’s out there to want to make me better.”

Rodriguez and her Judgment Day partner Roxanne Perez are set for a tag match on today’s WWE Raw in France. They’ll be facing off against The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane).

WWE Raw lineup: Two new matches added

Two new matches have been added to the card for today’s WWE Raw in Paris, France.

Following Clash in Paris, WWE is back at Paris La Defense Arena this afternoon for the final stop on its European tour. It was already known that an Intercontinental Championship bout between Dominik Mysterio and AJ Styles would be taking place on the episode. Now, two more matches have been confirmed.

The Kabuki Warriors will team up against Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez. Plus, there will be a six-man tag match pitting New Day and their new ally Grayson Waller against The War Raiders & Penta.

Today’s show has a special start time of 2 p.m. Eastern, streaming live on Netflix worldwide. Here is everything that has been announced:

Judgment Day six-person tag match set for AAA Triplemania

Finn Balor, JD McDonagh & Raquel Rodriguez of The Judgment Day are heading to Mexico City for a six-person tag match at Triplemania.

WWE posted a Spanish-language promo today setting up that Judgment Day will battle Mr. Iguana, Nino Hamburguesa & Lola Vice at the Saturday, August 16 event. The show is airing live on WWE’s YouTube channel in both English and Spanish.

Triplemania will be a big night for Judgment Day, who also have Dominik Mysterio competing in the main event. That main event is a four-way bout with El Hijo del Vikingo defending the AAA Mega Championship against Dominik, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano.

Vice — former MMA fighter Valerie Loureda — competes in NXT and has also regularly been working AAA dates to gain experience. One of her AAA partners here — Mr. Iguana — has made multiple appearances for WWE since his breakout performance at Worlds Collide.

This is the first Triplemania event since WWE announced its acquisition of AAA. An appearance by Rey Mysterio is set for the show, with him inducting Konnan into the Lucha Libre AAA Hall of Fame. It’s also been confirmed that there will be a street fight with Angel & Berto defending the AAA Tag Team titles against Psycho Clown & Pagano.

Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez comment on WWE running fewer house shows

The now-former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions would like WWE to run more live events.

Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez were guests on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg recently. Rodriguez was asked if she misses working house shows like she did when first called up to the main roster in 2022.

“A big part of me, actually,” she responded. “We just did a big super show in Texas and we had that little loop, which was really cool and fun cause we got to go to our hometowns. We just did a super show in Mexico, in Mexico City and Monterrey. And it was again, the hottest crowds that we’ve been in front of.”

“I do miss them. I feel like there are missed opportunities,” she continued. “Being a part of the fans, bettering ourselves as a tag team, working together and getting those reps that we haven’t had before. And so I think we should do more of them.”

Perez added, “It’s definitely nerve wracking to try things on live TV. So, it’s fun to be able to try things on live events.”

WWE announced last September that they planned to run fewer non-televised events. Not including NXT house shows in Florida, WWE has run 10 non-televised events so far in 2025. Six of those were on the European tour in March, another two were in Texas last month, and then last weekend’s shows in Mexico. The company has five European live events scheduled for this month leading to Clash in Paris and two scheduled for Tokyo, Japan at Sumo Hall in October.

Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez recognized as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

We now know what’s going on with the Women’s Tag Team titles.

After weeks of uncertainty, WWE clarified the status of the titles on Raw. Backstage, new World Tag Team Champions JD McDonagh and Finn Balor talked to Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce. Balor suggested that since Raquel Rodriguez had worked so hard to keep the Tag Team titles, she should be able to keep them with a new tag team partner, suggesting Roxanne Perez. After Pearce and Aldis briefly talked to one another they agreed to the plan, officially recognizing Rodriguez and Perez as Women’s Tag Team Champions.

The segment ended, however, with the GMs agreeing that the champions would have to prove their worth by defending the titles in a four-way match with teams from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT at WWE Evolution on July 13.

In a backstage segment later in the show, Raquel Rodriguez seemed hesitant to fully accept Perez as her new partner, noting that Morgan was already doing rehab. Balor said that rehabbing a shoulder injury would be hard work and all he wanted out of this was to see Rodriguez remain champion. A reluctant Rodriguez eventually agreed to the new situation.

Morgan suffered the shoulder injury minutes into a match with Kairi Sane on the June 16 episode of Raw. It was revealed last week that she has already undergone surgery.

Becky Lynch turns on Lyra Valkyria, Tag Team titles change hands on WWE Raw

The newly-formed tag team of Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria has already split.

One day after Lynch and Valkyria won the Women’s Tag Team titles, they dropped them right back to former champs Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, with Lynch turning on Valkyria in the post-match.

Valkyria was pinned in the Tag title rematch on Monday’s Raw in Las Vegas, with Morgan hitting Oblivion for the finish. Lynch was repeatedly neutralized as she attempted to help her partner during the bout.

After the match, Lynch hugged Valkyria before dropping her with multiple clotheslines. Lynch left the ring, then returned to hit three Manhandle Slams on Valkyria to cement the heel turn.

Lynch returned at WrestleMania 41 after a hiatus of nearly 11 months, replacing Bayley as Valkyria’s partner. Bayley was laid out backstage in an angle on the night one of WrestleMania pre-show on Saturday, with her attacker yet to be revealed.

It was announced on Monday’s Raw that Bayley had suffered a partial shoulder dislocation in storyline, and would be on the shelf for an indeterminate amount of time.

Our live play-by-play coverage of the Raw after WrestleMania is ongoing here.

Raquel Rodriguez on Diesel comparisons: ‘I absolutely love it’

Raquel Rodriguez loves when fans compare her tag team with Liv Morgan to Shawn Michaels & Diesel.

Currently in their third reign with the belts, Rodriguez & Morgan are the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions heading into WrestleMania 41. Their dynamic has drawn comparisons to Michaels & Diesel with Rodriguez being a powerhouse and serving as a bodyguard for Morgan.

” I love it. I absolutely love it,” Rodriguez said about the comparisons on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet. “I feel like Dakota [Kai] and I had those comparisons in NXT too when we were tagging, and so I was calling myself ‘Big Mami Cool’ for a while, because I love it. I love Diesel… It’s really, really cool. And what a comparison to be compared to [Kevin Nash]. He [is] just known for his swag and his attitude and his confidence, and so I try to bring that. Especially coming back from my illness. I was like, ‘I want to come back and I just want to exude confidence.’ I want to exude machismo to quote a little bit of WWE there with Razor Ramon. But machisma. That’s not a real word [laughs]. So yeah, I love that comparison.”

Rodriguez spent several months out of action in 2024 due to mast cell activation syndrome, which she described as her body “having a constant allergic reaction to everything.” She is determined to keep a positive attitude despite the condition and wants to show younger people that, no matter what they’re going through, they’re beautiful the way they are.

“I can’t stay stuck in a rut,” Rodriguez said. “I want everyone to know that — I know you may feel stuck for whatever time it is that you’re there right now, but it’s not forever.”

WWE has yet to confirm Rodriguez & Morgan’s plans for WrestleMania, but Bayley & Lyra Valkyria are looking like potential challengers. Maxxine Dupri & Natalya are another team that wants a shot at the Women’s Tag Team titles.

Women’s Intercontinental title match set for next WWE Raw

The Women’s Intercontinental Championship will be on the line when WWE Raw comes to Scotland next week.

WWE has announced that Raquel Rodriguez will challenge Lyra Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental title on next Monday’s Raw in Glasgow. Rodriguez recently earned the title shot by defeating Bayley in a number one contender’s match. If she beats Valkyria, Rodriguez will be a double champion heading into WrestleMania 41. Rodriguez & Liv Morgan are the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Valkyria became WWE’s first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion this January and has made successful title defenses against Dakota Kai and Ivy Nile during her reign.

Raw has a start time of 4 p.m. Eastern next week with the show being held at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow during WWE’s ongoing European tour. The episode will air live on Netflix.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and his WrestleMania challenger John Cena will both be on Raw again next week. Today’s episode of the show featured their first interaction since Cena’s heel turn.

CM Punk will also be on Raw next Monday. Plus, Jey Uso will need to find a mystery partner for a tag match against Grayson Waller & Austin Theory.
