Jack Perry remembers late father post-AEW Revolution win, reveals career doubts

Jack Perry took a moment to remember his late father, actor Luke Perry, after winning the National Championship at AEW Revolution on Sunday night. Additionally, Perry opened up about how reaffirming the victory was after he had doubted his place in pro wrestling.

Speaking at the post-show press conference, Perry took a trip down memory lane, reflecting on visiting Crypto.com Arena (Staples Center) with his father in his childhood. Perry talked about the emotional impact of the title win in his hometown of Los Angeles.

“As I said, today’s kind of bittersweet. I don’t talk about it too much. My dad died, like seven years ago now. It’s not something that I think about in a big way every single day,” Perry said. “Obviously, I think about it, but it’s been seven years and thankfully I’ve been able to have other stuff to put my mind towards. And today, coming here, being in this building, the only time I’ve been here was walking around with my dad. And at that point I was so young, I was probably still holding his hand. It was interesting and it was really cool for me to now be here in this way, but it was also sad because I was thinking, you know,  the person who I wish could be here the most isn’t here.”

The newly crowned champion also showcased gratitude for Luchasaurus, his Jurassic Express tag team partner, who suffered from a medical complication a couple of years ago

“It’s tough but also makes me think about the people I am lucky enough to have here. My mom and sister got to be there, which I’m grateful for,” Perry said. “And to be here with my best friend [Luchasaurus], who almost died a year ago. He had his illness, and I’m sure he’ll get into that at some point. It just puts it all in perspective. Real life happens, and it happens in ways you wouldn’t expect all the time.”

Perry further discussed the hesitations that led to him constantly questioning his decision about wrestling.

“To have this happen in this building, for me — and without getting into too much detail — there have been a lot of highs, but there have been some really low lows that I kind of never really anticipated having, because I guess you don’t. And you know, there were times when I wondered, ‘Did I give my life to the wrong thing? Am I not doing well enough? Did I make a mistake?’ You only get one go-around, maybe, I guess, who knows. I thought, ‘This is my life, did I make the right choice with it?’ I’ve questioned that at times, which hurts,” said Perry.

“So to be here now and succeed in such an overwhelming way, with my family and friends, in a company that I’ve been part of since day one, that really kind of reaffirmed to me that I made the right choice. And who knows how it all works, but I just thought, I hope somewhere you can see this.”

Jack’s father Luke, best known for his role on “Beverly Hills 90210,” passed away in March 2019. It was barely a couple of months after Jack, who was one of the first few wrestlers to sign with AEW during its inception, finalized his signing with the promotion.

At Revolution 2026, Perry won the 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal to win his first AEW National Championship. He’s also a former AEW Tag Team Champion and TNT Champion.

One million dollar trios match added to AEW Full Gear

All Elite Wrestling has announced its first-ever million-dollar match.

Midway through tonight’s November 1st edition of Fright Night Collision, fans witnessed the announcement of a high-stakes match for Full Gear. Following The Young Bucks’ failed opportunity to earn a World tag-title shot, the duo were recently presented with the opportunity earn $1 million.

On Saturday’s Fright Night Collision, Don Callis presented the former EVPs with a lucrative offer they couldn’t refuse. He set up a million-dollar trios match for AEW Full Gear, featuring the team of The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander against Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) and Kenny Omega.

Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks have been on a disappointing run since losing their EVP status at All In and are currently on a mission to earn their money back. Losing both their power and financial standing, the brothers have been determined to make a comeback for some time now.

Interestingly, the duo won $500,000 in September, which they later squandered in a casino. The Young Bucks also faced Jurassic Express at WrestleDream for a $500,000 cash prize, but came up short in that match as well.

AEW Full Gear 2025 updated match card

Set to take place on November 22nd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, All Elite Wrestling have currently announced five matches for the show. With still several weeks left before the PPV, here are five advertised bouts:

  • “Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs. Samoa Joe – AEW World Championship
  • Kris Statlander (c) vs. Mercedes Moné – AEW Women’s World Championship
  • Brodido (Bandido and Brody King) (c) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) – AEW World Tag-Team Championship
  • Kenny Omega and Jurassic Express (Jack Perry and Luchasaurus) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) and Josh Alexander – Trios match for $1 million cash prize
  • Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall vs. RPG Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta)

Four-way Tag Team title eliminator part of updated AEW Fright Night Dynamite lineup

A second title eliminator has been added to this Wednesday’s updated lineup for the Fright Night edition of AEW Dynamite from Edinburg, Texas.

Announced on Saturday’s Collision after the main event, it will be the Young Bucks vs. FTR vs. Jurassic Express vs. JetSpeed with the winners moving on to face Brodido for the AEW World Tag Team titles at next month’s Full Gear.

JetSpeed and Jurassic Express defeated FTR and the Bucks Saturday to win $400,000 in storyline. Of the four teams involved, only JetSpeed have never held the titles.

The inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament will begin as Jamie Hayter teams with Queen Aminata against the Sisters of Sin. Hayter and Aminata won a four-way on Wednesday to choose their first opponents for the tournament.

After the internal strife in his faction between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita, Don Callis will hold a family summit to cool tensions.

The new additions join the previously announced Samoa Joe vs. Hook vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Ricochet match to determine the next AEW World title contender, also at Full Gear.

Current AEW Fright Night Dynamite card | Edinburg, Texas | This Wednesday

  • Samoa Joe vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Ricochet vs. Hook in a four-way no. 1 contender’s match
  • Don Callis Family summit
  • AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament quarterfinal: Jamie Hayter & Queen Aminata vs. Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue)
  • Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs. Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) vs. JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) in a four way no. 1 contender’s match

AEW Collision live results: FTR & Young Bucks vs. JetSpeed & Jurassic Express

$400,000 in storyline dollars will be on the line as part of tonight’s AEW Collision from San Antonio, Texas, as FTR teams with former rivals The Young Bucks.

Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler and the Jackson brothers take on JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) and Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) in an eight-man tag match. All four teams were in action at last Saturday’s WrestleDream.

AEW World Champion Hangman Page will appear to address Samoa Joe and The Opps after they turned on Page following the Joe vs. Page match at WrestleDream.

PAC will take on Tomohiro Ishii as The Death Riders vs. Conglomeration feud continues.

Thekla battles former interim ROH Women’s TV Champion Mina Shirakawa while Ace Austin returns to challenge Bryan Keith in the former’s first AEW match since he debuted in August.

Hook vs. Griff Garrison, and an MxM TV open challenge round out the show.

**********

Hangman Adam Page opened the show with an in ring promo. Page noted that the Opps fought the Death Riders for the better part of a year, and that Hangman owed them for that, as they made sure the match between him and Jon Moxley was one on one. Page emphasized that he gave Samoa Joe a shot at the title because he owed him, and he beat him clean in the ring, as hard as it was. Hangman said that Joe was embarrassed he lost to him, and that was why they stabbed Hangman in the back.

Hangman said that the Joe, Shibata, and Hobbs have become the very thing that they hated, and they should have known better. They especially should have known better because they have seen what Hangman does to his enemies, and Joe made the fatal mistake of thinking he was hunting Hangman, but Hangman was the one hunting him. Page promised to do far worse than embarrass and beat Joe, and instead would ruin his life.

This promo was great. It had a ton of menace, as AEW fans know how dangerous Adam Page can be when he is angry. All we have to do is look at the bloody feuds with Swerve Strickland and Jon Moxley. This showed a lot of growth in the Hangman Page character, as he was clearly confident and ready to bring it to Joe.

–PAC was backstage with the Death Riders, and he cut a promo saying that he was going to take out Tomohiro Ishii and remind people that the Death Riders were the most dangerous people in AEW, and that they were the ones that really ran the place.

PAC (w/ Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, & Marina Shafir) vs. Tomohiro Ishii

The announcers noted that PAC has a metal plate in his foot due to the surgery he had that he may have been using to knock people out since he has returned. A classic wrestling trope that I love is coming back. Ishii and PAC exchanged forearms, and then had a really fast opening portion exchanging moves and dodging and countering each other. Both men exchanged shoulder tackles, but Ishii got the better of that and hit a brainbuster that caused PAC to roll to the floor.

Garcia distracted Ishii on the floor, allowing PAC to attack him from behind. Garcia then hit mounted punches on Ishii with the referee’s back turned. Ishii stood up and started baiting PAC into a forearm battle, but ate a pump kick from PAC. PAC cussed at the audience as he went to the top rope and hit a big dropkick off the ropes. As PAC sent Ishii into the guardrail a few times, Ishii fired up, so PAC took the knee out.

PAC continued to stomp on Ishii and Ishii woke up and they started exchanging hard chops until Ishii hit a big tackle. Ishii sold his shoulder, as PAC had been stomping and attacking it. Ishii hit a stalling brainbuster off the middle ropes, and PAC kicked out. Ishii hit a headbutt and a powerbomb for a two count, while still selling the shoulder. PAC necked Ishii on the ropes, but Ishii blocked a German suplex, and unfortunately for PAC, hit one of his own. PAC attacked the shoulder and hit a German suplex, but Ishii got up, ate an enziguri, fired up, and then hit a lariat, and collapsed.

PAC hit a stalling German suplex after Shafir tripped him. PAC then hit the ropes to hit a kick with his plated foot, but Ishii hit a lariat, and PAC popped up to hit a brainbuster, but Ishii kicked out. PAC dumped Ishii to the floor, and Yuta hit a busaiku knee on the floor. PAC hit the ropes again and hit a big lariat, finally scoring the pinfall. PAC did not use his plated foot, and did not need to, but there is definitely going to be something to this with the announcers explicitly talking about it. Something to pay attention to for PAC matches in the future.

Match Result: PAC defeated Tomohiro Ishii

This was an excellent opening match. Tomohiro Ishii is the greatest, and PAC is also the greatest. That is all.

Thekla vs. Mina Shirakawa

Shirakawa mocked Thekla first doing a dance and saying she was a spider. Shirakawa hit a dropkick that dropped Thekla. Shirakawa locked on a surfboard stretch before stomping on the hands of Thekla and attacking the knee. Thekla ducked under a lariat, swept the leg, and Shirakawa slipped out, posed, and ended up paying for it as Thekla continued the attack.

Shirakawa blocked an attack from Thekla and hit a DDT before returning back to working on the knee. Shirakawa noticed that Julia Hart and Sky Blue had come to ringside, distracting her, and allowing Thekla to attack from behind to send her to the floor as they went to an ad break. When they came back, Thekla had a crossface on Shirakawa, Hart and Blue attacked Shirakawa from behind, but Shirakawa tried to to fire up with forearms and a dropkick. Shirakawa hit a torneo and then attacked the knee again. Shirakawa hit a backfist for a 2-count.

Shirakawa and Thekla exchanged strikes on the top rope before Thekla hit a superplex, but stayed in the tree of woe and went for the death trap, but Shirakawa hit a running knee and a series of strikes that ended with a spinning backfist for a very close 2-count. Shirakawa and Thekla slightly botched a slingblade, then Shirakawa went for a Glamorous driver. Thekla slipped out and hit a spear with distraction from Hart and Blue, and then locked on the Death Trap for the finish.

Match Result: Thekla defeated Mina Shirakawa

–Anna Jay and Tay Melo were backstage talking about how excited they were for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament, but they are not like teams that were just thrown together. As they were talking, Nixon Newell (the former Tegan Nox, returned to her indie name) and Miranda Alize walked up to challenge them to a tag match.

–MxM TV came out for their casting call, so we will see who comes out to face them this week. They insulted the fans, then the ring announcer informed them that the open challenge was for a singles match, and the men looked excited, but Olympia from CMLL came out to face Taya Valkyrie.

Taya Valkyrie (w/ MxM TV (Mansoor, Mace Madden, & Johnny TV) vs. Olympia

Olympia knocked Valkyrie off the apron, and MxM TV caught her, but Olympia hit a dive to the floor taking everyone out. Olympia put Valkyrie in a fireman’s carry, did three squats, and then hit a sitout slam from the fireman’s carry for the pinfall.

Match Result: Olympia defeated Taya Valkyrie

I liked this squash. It highlighted Olympia and made her look like a star.

–A hype video aired for a 4-way match for the #1 Contender position for Hangman Adam Page’s world title at Full Gear. Samoa Joe, Hook, Bobby Lashley, and Ricochet will be competing.

Bryan Keith vs. Ace Austin

Austin took Keith over with a headlock, and Keith stood up and said “I wasn’t ready, ref!” which made me laugh. Ace Austin took advantage of this match to show how good he actually is, with the fans responding very well to Austin showing his high flying offence. However, Keith pulled the referee in the way when Austin went for a springboard kick, and then Keith grabbed him and hit an exploder suplex over the ropes to the floor. Keith paused to hit a running kick on the floor, told a fan to get off their phone, and then kicked Austin in the face.

Keith hit some hard chops in the ring, and told the referee to back off when he tried to stop Keith from choking Austin. Listen, Bryan, you cannot choke someone. That is illegal. Austin hit a sunset flip for a 2-count, and followed up with a legdrop, shouting out Chris Bey and the Bullet Club, before hitting a stomp and to the head for a two count. Keith responded with a brutal headbutt and a back drop driver. Austin dodged a corner charge and hit a springboard kick before hitting the Fold for the pinfall. Really good showcase for Austin here, though he did spend a lot of it selling.

Match Result: Ace Austin defeated Bryan Keith

–Don Callis was backstage with Lexy Nair, and she directly asked Callis what is going on between Takeshita and Okada. Callis claimed that families fight sometimes, and when you had a family of genetically superior wrestlers, they are going to test each other every now and then. Callis said that he was the master of the inner workings of his family, and that Okada and Takeshita were more concerned with pleasing him, and it was unity and belts that pleased him. Callis announced the Don Callis Family Summit for Dynamite, claiming he was going to get a peace price for his efforts.

–The Outrunners and Dalton Castle were backstage with Lexy Nair, and they were ready to tell the secret of their success, but Bowens and Caster were arguing so they never got to explain the secret, not realizing the promo was live. So, Castle and The Outrunners posed and yelled, and Castle claimed that was the secret.

Griff Garrison (w/ The Frat House) vs. Hook (w/ Eddie Kingston)

Hook suplexed Garrison and he spilled out to the floor. The announcers took the opportunity to plug the DC Comics sponsorship due to Hook using his Bat Signal. Garrison hit a clothesline but missed a rolling one, and Hook hit two clotheslines of his own before hitting a flying double axe handle in the middle of the ring. Hook hit another suplex and locked in Red Rum for the submission win.

Match Result: Hook defeated Griff Garrison

I am fine with Hook squashing Garrison, but this is not really the kind of matches Hook needs to improve. I hope his 4-way on Dynamite will help elevate him as a star and give him experience with 3 other very experienced main event talents in Ricochet, Lashley, and Joe.

–Olympia cut a promo in Spanish with subtitles, saying that she would challenge Mercedes Mone next week on Collision. This was good. I prefer when they let talent who do not know the language well to cut promos with subtitles.

–Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata got a hype video for their attempt to win the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) & The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) vs. JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) & The Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus)

The Young Bucks noticeably got a cheer while their partners FTR got booed. It seems that the slow burn babyface turn to reuinte them with Kenny Omega is working. Though, this turned to boos once the Bucks knocked the Jurassic Express beach ball away from them, and Wheeler hit the beachball with a chairshot to bust it. That was not a sentence I ever expected to write.

The Bucks and FTR got the heat on Jet Speed initially, but Bailey hit a series of kicks on Wheeler and Jack Perry came in and countered a powerslam into a cradle, which looked really smooth. Wheeler kicked out and hit a lariat. All four men on the heel team started stomping on Luchasaurus, but Luchasaurus hit a double shoulder tackle on FTR. The Bucks swept Luchasaurus’ legs, but Perry hit a hurricanrana on Nick Jackson while Bailey hit a flying dropkick on Matt Jackson. Perry, Knight, and Bailey all hit moonsaults from the same turnbuckle to the floor on their opponents at the same time while Luchasaurus hit a standing moonsault on Harwood in the ring.

Harwood got chopped by everyone and tried to escape by diving into the front row, but Perry pulled him back and hit another chop. Harwood reversed an Irish whip and sent Perry into the ring steps, and then sent him over the announce table into the lap of Tony Schiavone before going to ad break. Perry countered a back suplex into a crossbody and tried to tag out, but FTR and the Bucks attacked the other side of the ring to prevent any tags.

Cash Wheeler decided to do the tope con giro spot with Matt Jackson instead of Nick Jackson, and then Matt Jackson teamed with Harwood to help him lock in a sharpshooter on Jack Perry. Nick Jackson then hit an x-factor over the ropes on Perry as he was in the submission. Wheeler missed a corner charge, which allowed Perry to tag out to Knight, who hit a UFO Splash on Matt Jackson but FTR broke it up. Knight leaped over the arms of FTR as they went for a double clothesline, which was incredible, and Jet Speed hit stereo pescado’s to the floor.

Hathaway threw powder into the eyes of Kevin Knight as the referee was turned around, allowing Matt Jackson to hit a superkick for a 2-count. They isolated Kevin Knight for the next few minutes, and Nick Jackson hit a spinning wheel kick, stopping any comeback. Cash Wheeler continued the assault hitting brutal chops and strikes in the corner. Harwood hit a lariat on Knight.

Luchasaurus ended up backed up by FTR, leading to Power and Glory, and then an elbow from Matt Jackson and a 450 splash by Nick Jackson for a 2-count. The Bucks and FTR went for the BTE Trigger, but ended up kneeing each other, and Luchasaurus hit a chokeslam that sent Nick Jackson moonsaulting on Dax Harwood. Luchasaurus tagged out to Bailey, who hit a spinning kick on Harwood, while Knight cut off Wheeler and hit a UFO splash for the pinfall victory.

Match Result: Jet Speed & Jurassic Express

With the members of FTR eating the pins, it seems the Young Bucks might be having a wedge driven between them and FTR. To be fair to them, it would not be hard to, given the rivalry for the two teams. The Young Bucks looked devastated at losing, and angry.

–Perry took money out of the bag and gave some to Nick Jackson to help him pay for his parking, at least. Stokley Hathaway ran into the crowd to escape Jack Perry, fist bumped a kid randomly with a huge smile, and then looked back at Perry with rage. That was awesome.

Final Thoughts

This was a pretty decent episode of Collision that saw several big matches announced for Dynamite. If you are limited in time, watch Hangman Adam Page’s promo, the opening match, and the main event.

Jack Perry wants to bring ‘darker vibe’ to AEW team

Now back in AEW after a long absence, Jack Perry is ready to show fans a new side of Jurassic Express.

Perry joined forces with Luchasaurus at All Out earlier this month, reuniting their team that was one of the most popular acts during the early years of AEW. It marked Perry’s return to AEW after having been away from TV since late 2024.

Though he’s back to being more of a babyface, Perry told Vice that he likes when that designation isn’t so black and white. He thinks Jurassic Express will have a darker vibe in this reunion run.

“It was interesting with the Scapegoat thing because I would get a mixed reaction. At certain times, I almost felt like a babyface. My idea was, I’m not the bad guy, I’m really the ultimate good guy here,” Perry said.

“I think it’s more interesting when it’s not so black and white and I think even if it’s leaning more towards the babyface side, I think there’s definitely a darker vibe with both of us than there was before. It’s a story, it’s always evolving. We are evolving. The sort of world that we are in is evolving. I think the more we can be open to that the more interesting it’ll be and the better it is.”

Jurassic Express had one reign as AEW Tag Team Champions in 2022, while Perry and Luchasaurus have each held the TNT title individually.

Perry told Vice that a Jurassic Express reunion was always going to happen at some point — and he believes their popular “Tarzan Boy” theme music is here to stay for this run.

On AEW Dynamite’s sixth anniversary episode this Wednesday, Jurassic Express will officially make their return to the show. Opponents for their first match back have not been announced yet.

“In terms of physicality, this is the longest that I’ve gone [without wrestling] in my life since I was like 16 or 17 years old,” Perry said. “I’m sure it’s gonna feel absolutely horrible the day after my first match back; that’s just part of the game. But I’m looking forward to it.”

Jack Perry returns at AEW All Out, reunites with Luchasaurus

In a reunion teased for several weeks, former AEW World Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express officially reunited at Saturday’s All Out.

It happened following the four-way Tag Team title ladder match that saw Brodido retain the titles. The Young Bucks, who were in the match, were hanging around in the ring afterward when Jack Perry came in to confront them.

Perry hasn’t been seen in AEW since November 2024 and hasn’t wrestled since this past January’s NJPW Wrestle Dynasty. Recent episodes of BTE on YouTube have teased his return with his former Elite-mates in the Young Bucks as a focus.

Perry went after the Jacksons, but eventually got hit with a double superkick. The two were about to take Perry out with a BTE tigger when he smiled and the lights went out. A full video that has been shown in clips for Luchasaurus’ recent return then played, showing Perry was the one who brought him back to life.

The now-former Killswitch returned in August after nearly a year’s absence due to complications from double pneumonia in his lungs.

He then appeared in the ring behind the Bucks and took them out, eventually removing his belt that read ‘Killswitch’ and tossing it into the crowd to show he is returning back to his old pre-Patriarchy name. He split with Kip Sabian and Mother Wayne this past Wednesday after the two lost in an qualifier for the aforementioned ladder match.

Perry and Luchasaurus then hugged and their old entrance music played as they took in the cheers from the fans. The two are AEW originals, first forming their team with the now-retired Marko Stunt.

The duo held the titles for 161 days in 2022, but haven’t teamed since June of that same year. The two split and feuded, ending in a steel cage match Perry won at November 2022’s Full Gear.

Jack Perry files for ‘Jurassic Express,’ ‘A Boy and His Dinosaur’ trademarks

Jack Perry has filed for more trademarks relating to his previous Jungle Boy gimmick.

On December 5, Perry applied to trademark “Jungle Boy.” He followed that up on December 11 by filing trademarks for “Jurassic Express” and “A Boy and His Dinosaur.” Jurassic Express was the name of an AEW faction with Perry & Luchasaurus. Marko Stunt was also a member at one point and Christian Cage was their mentor for a period of time.

A Boy and His Dinosaur was the name of Perry & Luchasaurus’ tag team dating back to their time on the indies.

The trademarks were filed through Perry’s Boy Myth Legend, Inc. Patent attorney Michael Dockins worked with Perry on the filings.

The trademarks are listed as being for:

Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes

Perry has been away from AEW programming since his backstage incident with CM Punk at All In this August. Perry was suspended from AEW indefinitely following the incident. Punk, who has since returned to WWE, was terminated from AEW with cause.

At All In, Perry lost the FTW Championship to Hook.

Perry is one of the names that fans have speculated could be revealed as the Devil character who has targeted MJF in AEW, but AEW hasn’t disclosed who is behind the Devil mask.

Eight matches announced for AEW Dark

For Tuesday’s edition of Dark, AEW will finish airing footage from their recent taping in Newark, New Jersey, with an eight-match lineup.

Brian Cage will look to rebound from his loss to Ricky Starks in the AEW World title eliminator tournament as he faces former ROH TV Champion Tony Deppen.

ChocoPro’s Hagane Shinno will make his official AEW debut as he takes on Angelico. Shinno competed against Michael Nakazawa at the company’s Fight Forever event at September’s Tokyo Game Show. This is Angelico’s first singles match and third match overall since September.

Former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida will take on Layla Luciano.

Here’s the full lineup:

  • Hikaru Shida (w/ Hagane Shinno) vs. Layla Luciano
  • Matt Hardy & Private Party vs. The Wingmen (Peter Avalon, Cezar Bononi & Ryan Nemeth)
  • The Factory (Lee Johnson, QT Marshall & Cole Karter) vs. Justin Corino, Ryan Mooney & Steve Josifi
  • Zack Clayton vs. Chris Wylde
  • Angelico vs. Hagane Shinno
  • Brian Cage (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Tony Deppen
  • Jericho Appreciation Society (Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Daniel Garcia) vs. Tracy Williams, LSG and Jack Tomlinson
  • Emi Sakura (w/ Baliyan Akki) vs. Tiara James

AEW World Tag Team title match announced for Dynamite

An AEW World Tag Team title match has been announced for next week’s Dynamite.

Jurassic Express will defend the titles against reDRagon. Additionally, a trios match pitting the Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, and Daniel Garcia) against Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz has also been announced for next week’s show, which will take place at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

After retaining the titles against The Young Bucks and reDRagon at Revolution back in March, reDRagon have continued to feud with the team, at one point stealing their titles. On tonight’s show, Jungle Boy said they were going to be the ones to challenge reDRagon for next week.

Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz returned to Dynamite last week, attacking the Jericho Appreciation Society after they jumped the trio last month. Despite this, JAS were able to stand tall. On this week’s show, Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz retaliated by attacking the JAS backstage. They brawled outside the arena, with Jake Hager rescuing the rest of the group by helping them escape in a getaway car.

Current Dynamite lineup:

  • Jurassic Express vs. reDRagon for the AEW World Tag Team titles
  • Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz vs. Jericho Appreciation Society

AEW Dark results: Hangman Page in action, two title eliminator matches

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means: a super-sized AEW Dark taped last Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Taz and Excalibur on the call.

Shawn Dean defeated Liam Cross (2:27)

Dean shrugged off a slingshot senton from Cross to come back with a DDT and a swan dive splash off the top rope for the win. “The Captain” is now 2-0 in 2022.

Anthony Ogogo defeated Baron Black (4:23)

There were no other members of The Factory with Ogogo since they had bigger fish to fry later tonight (no, not Bobby Fish). Ogogo caught Black with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Black caught Ogogo with a hammerlock backstabber and went for a crossface, but Ogogo countered with a high angle throw and a headbutt.

Ogogo finished Black with the Tower of London: an assisted cutter out of the corner. It’s a cool move, but it takes way too long to set up and is probably too convoluted to use against only the lowliest of jobbers.

Red Velvet defeated Shalonce Royal (1:19)

Royal is the opera singing enhancement talent from a few weeks back, singing in between offensive moves and inspiring Taz to do the same. Royal attacked Velvet before the bell, but her advantage didn’t last and Velvet got the win after the Final Slice.

Gunn Club defeated Patrick Scott, Marcus Kross & T.I.M. (0:33)

Billy Gunn is sporting an “A** Boys” shirt in honor (I guess) of his sons. Colton and Austin left and Billy Gunn dispatched their three opponents by himself, winning with the Famouser.

You can’t spell “unnecessarily long episodes of Dark” without “Gunn Club.”

Tay Conti & Anna Jay defeated The Renegade Twins (3:44)

Both Charlette and Robyn Renegade were on Dark recently in individual losses to Brandi Rhodes and Abadon, respectively. Conti suplexed one of the twins and hit the other with the TayKO. Jay locked the Queenslayer on one of the Renegades and Conti locked in her inverted crossface submission to get the double submission.

Orange Cassidy defeated JD Drake (w/ two masked men) (9:03)

Cassidy got the first big pop of the show.

Cassidy was able to avoid Drake’s big chops early on, but then caught one and sold it like he was shot with a cannon. Cassidy dodged a senton and tried to slam Drake, but Drake’s massive size made that impossible. Drake easily slammed Cassidy. Cassidy later sent him to the floor, but when he tried a tope suicida, Drake caught him and hit his rebound uppercut on the floor. The masked guys attacked Cassidy on the floor while Drake distracted the referee.

Back in the ring, Drake hit Cassidy with a senton and worked a chinlock. Taz and Excalibur surmised that the masked men on the floor were probably two of the Wingmen. Cassidy came back with a flying crossbody and went for a slam, which Drake blocked. Cassidy hit the masked men on the floor with a tope suicida and nailed Drake with a spinning DDT. Drake came back with a cannonball in the corner for a near fall.

Drake dumped Cassidy to the floor for the masked men to attack, but Wheeler Yuta and Chuck Taylor ran in to take them out. Back in the ring, Drake got a near fall with a Black Hole Slam, but missed a moonsault. Cassidy hit the bodyslam he was working for the whole match, followed by the Orange Punch to get the win in a really fun match.

Dante Martin defeated Aaron Solo (3:14)

This was a chance for Martin to shine before his match Wednesday with Powerhouse Hobbs. Martin hit the double jump moonsault to get the win.

Eddie Kingston defeated Joey Janela (w/ Kayla Rossi) (8:31)

Kingston was selling injuries from the beating he took in the no dq match on Friday’s Rampage. Despite working independents all over the Northeast for years, this was the first meeting between Janela and Kingston.

Kingston lit up Janela in the corner with machine gun chops. The fight went to the floor and Janela hit a rolling elbow. Janela went to the top, but “fell” into the ring to distract the referee so Rossi could hit Kingston with a standing moonsault. Janela caught Kingston with a dragon screw legwhip in the ropes to further injure Kingston’s already beat up knee.

Janela worked over Kingston’s leg with a knee bar. Janela went for a figure-four, but Kingston knocked him out of the ring and followed Janela out of the ring with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, Kingston battered Janela with chops in the corner and followed up with a vertical suplex.

Kingston hit a German suplex and a bridge for two. Janela power bombed Kingston out of the corner and nailed him with a kick. Janela went to the top, but Kingston crotched him and took him to the mat with an exploder superplex.

The fight went to the floor where Kingston absolutely mauled Janela with a slap. Rossi tried to attack from the top, but Kingston got out of the way and Rossi splashed Janela instead. Back in the ring, Kingston finished Janela with a Northern Lights bomb to get the pinfall in another good match.

Thunder Rosa defeated Kasey Fox (1:59)

Fox made her AEW debut in this loss. Rosa hit a death valley driver and tied up Fox with the peruvian necktie to get the quick submission victory.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Alexander Moss (0:22)

Hobbs hit Moss with an avalanche and put him in the torture rack for the quick submission victory.

Daniel Garcia defeated Fuego Del Sol

Alex Marvez interviewed Garcia earlier as he has a match against interim TNT champion Sammy Guevara on Dynamite.

Del Sol got some shine early. Garcia came back with a shotgun dropkick, dropped him head first with a high-angle snow plow and then slapped on the sharpshooter to get the submission victory.

After the match, Garcia left the hold on far too long, leading to Guevara running out to make the save.

AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill (w/ Mark Sterling) defeated Skye Blue in a title eliminator match (1:57)

Marvez interviewed Sterling and Cargill about the stakes for the match tonight where if Blue wins, she gets a future title shot. However, if Blue loses, she can never challenge for the TBS title as long as Cargill is champion.

Jade hit a pump kick and a fallaway slam. Jade went for another fallaway slam, but Blue fought out of it and hit a superkick. Blue went for a cazadora, but Cargill countered that into the Jaded slam for the victory.

AEW World Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express defeated Nick Comoroto & QT Marshall in a title eliminator match (8:20)

There was no Christian Cage with Jurassic Express. I guess he doesn’t get paid to work on YouTube.

Jungle Boy and Marshall started out and Marshall gave Jungle Boy a punch from behind to get the advantage. Comoroto dropped a big elbow for a near fall. Marshall hit a back elbow for a near fall. Marshall and Comoroto were not a scintillating combination here.

Comoroto got a near fall after a backbreaker and worked a chinlock on Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy came back with his rebound lariat and then countered a suplex attempt from Marshall into a hurricanrana followed by the hot tag to Luchasaurus.

Luchasaurus took the fight to both his opponents, taking them down with a double clothesline. Luchasaurus caught Comoroto with the tail whip and then a hook kick. Comoroto went for a Diamond Cutter, but Luchasaurus blocked and both men took each other out with a double clothesline. Marshall hit Jungle Boy with a pop-up uppercut and Comoroto followed up with a spear for a near fall.

Luchasaurus drove Comoroto down head first out of a tijeras and Jungle Boy dove in with a DDT for a near fall. Luchasaurus took out Comoroto with a rolling fireman’s carry slam and Jungle Boy sprung over Luchasaurus to take out Marshall with a canadian destroyer. Luchasaurus then got the pin on Comoroto.

AEW World Champion Hangman Page and Dark Order’s Alan Angels & Preston “10” Vance defeated Matt Hardy, Serpentico & Isiah Kassidy (14:23)

Earlier in the night, Marvez (who really earned his paycheck tonight) interviewed Hardy about the stipulations: if Hardy’s side wins, he gets a World title match on Dynamite tomorrow night.

This was Page’s Dark debut (he’s wrestled on Dark: Elevation). A slightly mistimed sideslam/inverted DDT combo from Vance and Angels got Vance a near fall. Serpentico got the tag and was immediately overpowered by Vance. Vance held up Serpentico for a vertical suplex and handed him off to Page to finish the move.

Hardy tripped Page while he was running the ropes, allowing Kassidy and Serpentico to get a brief advantage. Page and Angels double-teamed Kassidy. Serpentico ran in to flip off Angels and when Angels chased him out of the ring, he ran into an attack from Hardy who got a few minutes of shine in the ring against Angels.

Kassidy hit a slingshot senton on Angels for a near fall. After an overly long heat segment on Angels, he got the hot tag to Vance. Vance hit clotheslines and pump kicks on everyone and then took out Kassidy with a spinebuster. Vance went for the full nelson on Kassidy, but Hardy broke it up with a neckbreaker. Serpentico and Kassidy went for Poetry in Motion on Vance, but Vance caught Serpentico and slammed him on Kassidy instead. Kassidy took some ugly bumps in this match.

The match finally settled into old rivals Page vs. Hardy. Hardy went for a Twist of Fate, but Page countered with his own. Angels flew in with a frog splash for a near fall. Hardy hit Splash Mountain for a near fall. Hardy and Kassidy were dumped to the floor and Serpentico unsuccessfully tried to dive on all three of his opponents.

Angels hit the wing clipper on Serpentico, Vance slapped on the full nelson, and Page dropped him with a pop-up powerbomb. Page hit the Buckshot lariat for the pin in a match that dragged on way too long for the point it served.

Final Thoughts:

The main event was about twice as long as it needed to be. The tag team eliminator match, Kingston vs. Janela and Cassidy vs. Drake were fun and worth seeking out.

Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus win AEW World Tag Team titles on Dynamite

New AEW World Tag Team Champions were crowned on tonight’s Dynamite.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus (Jurassic Express) defeated Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix (The Lucha Brothers) to win the titles. Jungle Boy pinned Penta with a cradle to win the match and end Penta and Fenix’s first AEW title reign at 183 days.

Fenix was injured during the match, either breaking or dislocating his arm after taking a chokeslam off the apron through a table on the floor. Fenix was on his way to the hospital, and the injury was severe enough to likely require surgery.

For Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, the win marks their first career AEW title victories.

The Tag title match main evented the first edition of Dynamite on TBS, a show that also featured two other title matches. Hangman Page defeated Bryan Danielson to retain the AEW World Championship on the show, plus Jade Cargill was crowned the first-ever TBS Champion, defeating Ruby Soho in a tournament final.

Rey Fenix suffers arm injury on AEW Dynamite

Update —

Bryan Alvarez reports that Rey Fenix’s injury was a dislocation, not a broken arm as was initially thought: “Fenix update: No break, just badly dislocated”

Fenix still needs to undergo an MRI to check for ligament damage.

**********

Rey Fenix suffered an arm injury during the main event of AEW Dynamite’s TBS debut.

Near the end of The Lucha Brothers’ AEW Tag Team title match against Jurassic Express, Fenix suffered the injury when Luchasaurus chokeslammed him off the apron and through a table on the outside. Fenix was headed to the hospital after the show and will likely need surgery.

It was immediately apparent that Fenix was injured after taking the chokeslam. He grabbed his arm and motioned for the medical staff. In the ring, Jungle Boy countered out of a package piledriver by Penta El Zero Miedo — but Penta countered out of the Killswitch. Jungle Boy then countered Penta’s Made in Japan into a pin to win the AEW Tag Team titles for Jurassic Express.

Jurassic Express winning the titles was the planned finish.

The Lucha Brothers had been AEW Tag Team Champions since winning the titles from The Young Bucks in a steel cage match at All Out last September.

This is Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus’ first title win in AEW.

AEW Rampage live results: Cole & Fish vs. Jurassic Express

Friday’s AEW Rampage will see former Undisputed Era members Adam Cole and Bobby Fish reunite as they take on Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus of Jurassic Express.

The match was made on Wednesday’s Dynamite as Cole tries to get revenge on behalf of the SuperKliq following their falls count anywhere loss to Jurassic Express and Christian Cage. The Young Bucks weren’t cleared to compete so Cole recruited his old NXT teammate to take up the fight on their behalf.

Another quarterfinal of the TBS title tournament will be part of the show as Jade Cargill takes on rival Red Velvet. Velvet advanced with a win over The Bunny in the first round while the undefeated Cargill earned a bye.

In an interesting clash of styles, Darby Allin will look to rebound from his Full Gear loss to MJF as he battles Billy Gunn, leader of the Gunn Club.

This week’s show was taped Wednesday in Norfolk, Virginia.

**********

Darby Allin (w/ Sting) defeated  Billy Gunn (w/ Austin & Colten Gunn) (8:32)

Billy Gunn wrestling? This isn’t Dark.

Allin’s ribs were taped and he was selling sore ribs from his match with MJF. Billy Gunn offered a test of strength to Allin, and Allin slapped him. Billy responded by ignoring a dropkick and backdropping Allin. Billy tossed Allin around the ringside area and stared at Sting. And Allin sold.  Billy dodged Allin’s suicide dive and Allin wiped out on the floor. Billy Gunn did nothing at all and Allin bumped all over the place to try and make the match interesting. It’s didn’t work.

Back from the picture-in-picture break, Allin hit the coffin drop on the floor on both Austin and Colten. Then Billy Gunn tossed Allin around some more. BIlly missed his version of the Stinger splash, and Allin hit the flip stunner and a sloppy code red. Allin hit the coffin drop and Billy kicked out after one. Allin hit a second coffin drop and finally got the pinfall.

I hated this. Allin only got offense in the last 30 seconds of the match. The rest was Allin bumping for Gunn. This was not a good way to open the show.

After the match, the Gunn sons attacked Allin, and Sting made the save. Billy Gunn laid out Sting, and the Gunn Club stood tall over Sting and Allin.

– In a backstage interview with Tony Schiavone, QT Marshall challenged CM Punk to a match for Dynamite in Chicago.

– In a pretaped interview, Chris Jericho talked up The Inner Circle’s victory at Full Gear.  The Men of the Year responded in their own pretaped interview and promised American Top Team would be back.

TBS Tournament Quarterfinal: Jade Cargill (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) defeated Red Velvet (6:08 aired)

After an initial back and forth, Cargill muscled Velvet over with a fallaway slam. Cargill followed with a pumphandle slam, dumping Velvet face first on the mat. Velvet came back with a leg lariat that sent Cargill to the floor. Velvet went for a tope, but Cargill caught her with a palm strike. Cargill dropped Velvet with an uranage on the ring apron and the show went to a break.

After the break, Cargill beeled Velvet across the ring and did some pushups. Velvet came back with clotheslines and a bulldog. Cargill dodged Velvet with a leapfrog, then leveled her with a pump kick. Cargill went for the jaded, but Velvet kicked off the ropes and got a near fall with a cradle. Velvet hit a spear for another near fall. Velvet went for the final slice, but Cargill countered into the jaded slam to get the win.

Some timing issues aside, this wasn’t a bad match.

– Thunder Rosa cut a promo on Jamie Hayter. The Rosa/Hayter TBS Title Tournament Quarterfinal match is Wednesday night.

– Tony Schiavone interviewed CM Punk. Punk/Marshall is official for the Wednesday night as well. “We’ll see who the turkey is.”

Announced for “Black Friday Rampage” next week is Daniel Garcia v. Eddie Kingston.  The “Winter is Coming” episode of Dynamite is official for Garland, Texas on December 15th.

Face to Face interview. The Young Bucks ranted about the beating they took on Saturday. Jungle Boy got the burn of the night, “When I saw my first Bobby Fish match, I won.” Adam Cole and his very good friend Bobby Fish didn’t have much to say after that. Mark Henry asked Christian if he was worried about interference from the Bucks, and Christian held up a steel chair. “It’s time for the main event!”

Jurassic Express defeated Adam Cole & Bobby Fish (15:26)

Adam Cole and Junge Boy started the match. Fish got the tag and hit a slingshot senton on Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy came back with an armdrag and a dropkick, then made the tag to Luchasaurus. Luchasaurus won a kick exchange with Fish, and Jungle Boy came in with a top rope senton to get a near fall. Cole caught Jungle Boy with a knee and a gamengiri from the apron. The heels took over on Jungle Boy as the show went to a picture in picture break.

After the break, Fish had Jungle Boy in a chinlock. Jungle Boy escaped and hit the rebound lariat. Tags were made on both sides, and Luchasaurus dominated both Cole and Fish. The crowd was firmly behind Luchasaurus as he floored his oppoents with a double clothesline. Luchasaurus tried for a double goozle, but Cole escaped and caught Luchasaurus with a pump kick. Jungle Boy got the tag and Jurassic Express got a double team cutter on Cole for a near fall. A pair of kicks took out Luchasaurus, and Cole and Fish hit a brainbuster/head kick combo  on Jungle Boy. Fish hit a tope on Luchasaurus on the floor as Cole got the near fall on Jungle Boy.

This left Jungle Boy and Cole one on one for a nice exchange. Jungle Boy went for the snare trap, but Cole escaped and both men hit superkicks. Cole went for the Panama sunrise, but Luchasaurus came in and powerbombed Cole. Jungle Boy hit an elbow to the back of Cole’s head for a pin attempt that Fish broke up. Fish got the tag from Cole and worked over Jungle Boy’s leg with kicks and a dragon screw leg whip. Fish charged, but Jungle Boy suplexed Fish into the corner.

The still-not-cleared Young Bucks came out to distract Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy. This brought out Christian with a steel chair to chase the Bucks and Cole away from the ring. Fish tried to get win with a roll up, but Jungle Boy countered into the snare trap, and after a bit of a struggle, Fish submitted. This is the second time in as many weeks that Cole has left Fish for dead.

Final Thoughts:

The main event saved the show, but I was really turned off by Billy Gunn dominating Allin. The story between the Gunns and Sting/Allin does not look like it’s over. Even if it’s only a two week program, that’s two weeks too long for me.

Darby Allin vs. Billy Gunn, two more matches set for AEW Rampage

AEW has revealed the lineup for this Friday’s episode of Rampage.

Darby Allin will face Billy Gunn in a singles match. The bout was set up on Dynamite when Billy, Austin and Colten Gunn confronted Allin in a backstage segment. Allin stated that he wanted the biggest and baddest that AEW had to offer, and Billy said he was the biggest, baddest guy in AEW.

The TBS Championship tournament will continue with a quarterfinals matchup. Jade Cargill will face Red Velvet in the tournament bout. The winner will advance to the semifinals and face the winner of the Thunder Rosa vs. Jamie Hayter bout set for next week’s Dynamite.

Also announced, Adam Cole will team with his former NXT Undisputed Era stablemate Bobby Fish against Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus.
