AEW Fright Night Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Bryan Danielson as they throw it right to Justin Roberts for the intros to our opening contest.

Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin vs. Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia in a Trick or Treat Tornado Tag Match

(A chaotic start to the night to get the crowd going, as the Death Riders spiral continues with Allin getting another member to submit. I wouldn’t mind if Cassidy & Allin were a more consistent tag team, but I don’t know if that’s in the cards.)

Allin & Cassidy attacked at the bell, as Danielson is delighted that no tags are required here, so Yuta could get punched in the face at any moment. The match spills outside, where Yuta faked pulling out weapons, opting to flip the crowd off instead, only to get popped with a chair in the back by Allin. While placed on the chair, Allin got a head of steam in the ring and hit a low Tope, wiping out Yuta. Garcia tried shooting Cassidy into the barricade, but Cassidy cleared it like a hurdle, dared Garcia to come fight him, but got blindsided by Yuta, who joined Garcia in double teaming Cassidy in the crowd. As this was happening, Allin flew in from off-screen with a Coffin Drop. Yuta & Cassidy fought into the stands, as back ringside, Allin ran the barricade with a shotgun dropkick on Garcia, as chaos took us to commercial.

Back from break, Yuta & Garcia had regained control, as Allin was sent crashing to the floor, while they set-up tables ringside. Cassidy dared both back into the ring, hands in pockets, as he caught both with dropkicks and DDTs. Garcia dodged a Stundog Millionaire into a guillotine, as he gator rolled to the floor, placing Cassidy on the table, as Yuta flew off the top with a splash through it. In the ring, Allin dared Garcia to hit him with a skateboard, but it was a way to lure Garcia in, as once his head was down, Allin hit a Code Red. Quickly up to try a Coffin Drop, Yuta cut Allin off, with a Tree of Woe and boot to the groin, as Cassidy went up and made the save raking at the back, until Allin powered up into a low blow. Cassidy leapt off the top with a DDT, Allin followed with a Coffin Drop, but Garcia narrowly broke the count. Orange Punch delivered to Garcia on the apron, as Yuta was caught with Sole Food before Cassidy hit a dive on Garcia through a table. Allin applied the Scorpion Death Lock on Yuta, who had no choice but to tap out, the same way Jon Moxley submitted at WrestleDream. Danielson said giving up must’ve been something he learned from Moxley, as he certainly didn’t learn it from him.

Match Result: Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin defeated Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia when Allin submitted Yuta

-HOOK was shown arriving in the arena earlier today (there were guys backstage dressed in costumes, one being the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, a nice callback from a few years ago on Dynamite with Hangman Page’s feud with The Elite) and said obviously he’s the underdog tonight, as he’ll be in there with decorated veterans, but he wouldn’t want it any other way. HOOK said he’ll be doing his best that Samoa Joe doesn’t win tonight, as he decided to show the world who he really is, someone HOOK already knew.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Don Callis to talk about his Family Summit later tonight. Callis said tonight he’ll show his Family has never been stronger until he welcomed in The Young Bucks, saying it’s criminal what this company has done to them. Callis tells them to think about having a Family to have their back and told a production jobber to cue the entrance he had arranged for them. The Bucks walk by the same guys in costumes from earlier, looking at the Marshallow Man before heading to the ring. Paquette handed the mic to Callis to give a wildly over the top intro calling them one of the greatest of all time and brought up them being former friends of that rat bastard Kenny Omega. There were tons of pyro and The Bucks seemed pretty pleased with the intro.

The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler w/Stokely) vs. JetSpeed (Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) vs. Jurassic Express (Jungle Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) for an AEW World Tag Team Title Match at Full Gear

(I could absolutely see Callis trying to recruit The Buck leading to their reunion with Omega down the line. One of the most action-packed tag team 4-ways you’ll ever see. Every team had their time to shine and the crowd was into this from the opening bell. For teams that have done seemingly everything possible in the ring, it’s incredibly impressive they still bust out moves from the arsenal we haven’t seen before. Multiple near falls had the fans biting at false finishes down the stretch and we now have our challengers for Brodido come Full Gear.)

Perry gave his knife to Danielson at the commentary table, which Danielson said he needs since Stokely is at the table with them. Bailey lit up Harwood with machine gun kicks to start, forcing Harwood to tag Perry. Fast sequence trading arm drags, until Luchasaurus jumps in for an assisted hip toss, while Knight flew in with a huge missile dropkick. JetSpeed dropkicked out the legs of Luchasaurus before Bailey & Perry exchanged hurricanranas. JetSpeed & Jurassic Express all kipped up at the same time until The Bucks & FTR attacked from behind. Luchasaurus roared at them all, teased a double chokeslam on FTR, but The Bucks saved them with a double superkick. Knight was in the corner and ate a triple strike until he was caught in the ropes and Harwood held him up while Nick hit a Swanton off the top. The Bucks & FTR shook hands, as Knight leapt a double clothesline attempt, tagging in Perry, who laid out FTR with a double hurricanrana. Perry tried to follow with a somersault dive outside, but FTR caught and slammed Perry face first onto the commentary table. Matt held the ropes down and wanted a dive from Wheeler, who dropkicked Matt to the floor, while Nick was sent out as well. Bailey wiped out a pile with a somersault dive, until Knight went up top, Harwood cut him off and hit a superplex onto a massive pile. During this, Knight seemed to jam his leg pretty good, but did seem to be shaking it out as things went to commercial.

Perry was worked over most of the break, but mounted a comeback with a bounce back lariat on Nick, kicking free and tagging in Luchasaurus, who cleaned house. Locomotion corner splashes on everyone in his path, as mowed through The Bucks & FTR with shoulder tackles before opting to pose for the fans. Stokely ordered The Broke Bucks to get it together, as Perry hit an assisted hurricanrana on Bailey off the apron onto Knight. Perry launched off Luchasaurus’ back with a huge Destroyer on Nick, as they teased Countdown to Extinction on Matt, but Harwood made the save. Knight charged in and ate a huge Luchasaurus headbutt, as Perry wanted a Doomsday Device, but Bailey placed him on his shoulders on the apron. Knight countered Luchasaurus into a DDT, then dropkicked Perry off Bailey’s shoulders, causing Perry to backflip onto a pile outside. JetSpeed hit double dives, but Luchasaurus kicked out of a Frog Splash. The Bucks return to deliver a Superkick Party to Luchasaurus, Perry suffered one as well, but Bailey, who put up a fight initially, had the same fate. FTR were clobbered with superkicks and Shatter Machine of their own by Nick & Matt. Knight was starched with one last superkick and ate a BTE Trigger, but somehow kicked out, shocking The Bucks. TK Driver was cut off, as Luchasaurus sent The Bucks to the floor, where he hit a moonsault onto Matt. Bailey followed with a moonsault of his own, as back inside, Knight hit a UFO Splash on Nick, but bounced up to allow FTR to hit a Shatter Machine to get the win.

Match Result: FTR defeated The Young Bucks, JetSpeed & Jurassic Express to earn an AEW Tag Team Title match at Full Gear when Wheeler pinned Knight

-Video package of Hangman Adam Page’s comments from Collision is shown. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain. Samoa Joe has become everything he’s fought against. Page said he will find Joe and ruin his entire life.

The Don Callis Family Summit

Callis was out with Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Hechicero (who got chants from the Texas crowd), Rocky Romero, El Clon, Lance Archer, Josh Alexander & Mark Davis. No injured Family members (and no Andrade for obvious reasons), but also Konosuke Takeshita is notably missing. Callis handed the mic over to Romero, who said the first question is Who is The Don Callis Family? They are the most dominant and largest faction in wrestling today. While some can’t be there today due to injuries and Takeshita due to travel issues. Romero revealed a painting called La Familia. A ripped Callis in the middle with everyone behind him just as jacked. Alexander then said What is the Callis Family all about? He directed things to the screen and we get a highlight package of The Family and their success. Callis said it wouldn’t be a Family gathering without hearing from The Protostar, who said Why Does the Don Callis Family do what they do? Fletcher brought out and read an oath they all took before joining the Family. Mid-oath, the music for Konosuke Takeshita hit and Excalibur said he must’ve overcome his travel issues. Okada did not look too pleased.

Takeshita came to the ring, as everyone but Okada applauded, while Callis had to hold Takeshita back. Okada stood up and we get a face-off, as Callis said there’s still tension brewing and told Takeshita he needs to understand while he’s The Alpha, this is an entire Family of Alphas, so there’s going to be a little push and pull, which is desired. At the end of the day, this is a Family and the final question is How Does the Don Callis Family succeed? It’s by listening to what Callis wants, as there’s no I in Team, but there is one in Family. Callis knows he & Takeshita built this Family on the ashes on Kenny Omega’s career. While Takeshita was the first in, if Callis decides, he’ll be the last out. What he needs, is Takeshita & their IWGP Championship and put the bad blood aside and shake Okada’s hand. The crowd loudly chanted No, as Callis screamed at Takeshita to shake his hand, dammit! This isn’t about ego, it’s about honor as a member of this Family, do it for Callis. Takeshita held out his hand, but Okada slowly flipped him off and had a huge smile on his face. All the Family members had to hold one another back. Callis said shaking hands might not be the way to go, so they’re going to team together on Collision to show they can work like a Family. I thought this was an excellent segment and another step in Takeshita & Okada finally exploding.

-Video package on Mercedes Mone vs. Olympia happening this Saturday on Collision is shown

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Kris Statlander who said Mone is upset and embarrassed at what happened last week, but said she’ll be there to see Mone’s match with Olympia on Collision. Also, she knows Mone is there tonight, so if she has anything to say, she can say it to her face, as she’ll be the one with the title Mone doesn’t have.

Currently the greatest entrance video and music play, as Kyle O’Reilly is out to represent The Conglomeration in the upcoming bout.

Jon Moxley (w/Marina Shafir) vs. Kyle O’Reilly

(If these two can wrestle once a week, that’d be great, as similar to last week, this was an excellent striking and submission battle. The story of Moxley panicking while in submissions I’m sure will play a pivotal role in a few weeks and could possibly spell his demise in the Death Riders come Blood & Guts if he does indeed submits once again. The Blood & Guts challenge is officially on the table from The Conglomeration.)

Moxley tried to give O’Reilly a free shot to start and sucker him in for a double leg, but O’Reilly had it scouted and nearly got an arm-bar. Both trade stiff shots, until Moxley bit at the ear. O’Reilly tried a kitchen sink, but Moxley caught it and sent O’Reilly over the top to the floor into break.

It was all Moxley during commercial, but he immediately missed a corner charge into the post, giving O’Reilly a chance to tie up the leg and Dragon Screw it in the ropes. O’Reilly tried a single leg, but Moxley hit a wildly impressive counter into a piledriver and crossface transitioned into a crucifix. O’Reilly got the rope break, as he got to his feet and started up a strike battle. Finally able to shoot a double leg, O’Reilly got full mounted strikes before locking in the Ankle Lock. Moxley stepped through, but O’Reilly stomped on the Achillies and lowered The Boom, but Moxley kicked out. Moxley was able to battle back by getting Anvil elbows, but O’Reilly hooked a D’Arce Choke. Both got up and traded forearms, until Moxley wanted a Gotch Piledriver, but O’Reilly countered into a Triangle. Moxley got the ropes, so O’Reilly hit a PK, wanted another, but Moxley turned him inside out with a lariat into the double down.

Moxley willed himself up first and leveled O’Reilly with a big boot, as he took too long to follow-up, giving O’Reilly a chance to pick the ankle into another Ankle Lock. Moxley teased tapping out, but leapt to the ropes and went outside, only for O’Reilly to meet him with a slingshot dive and applied a cross-arm breaker and Dragon Screw into the barricade. O’Reilly wanted to leap off the apron, but Shafir stood in his path. Moxley teased a Death Rider on the chair, but O’Reilly spun out and sank in a Guillotine. Ref Aubrey was loudly putting a count on both men and made it to 10, calling the match. The crowd chanted “Bullsh*t” when Shafir hit the ring and leveled Aubrey with a forearm.

Claudio Castagnoli hit the ring and put the boots to O’Reilly with a blooded Moxley until Roderick Strong made the save, planting Castagnoli with an Angle Slam. Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia ran out and beat down Strong until Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy & Mark Briscoe finally ran in, Death Riders bailed. Allin asked why they’re running and said he’s going to give them a chance to suffer, passing the mic to Briscoe. He sees nothing but some fake ass tough guys, who sure likes to skedaddle, so he’s got a plan and is going to let Cassidy say it. Cassidy reluctantly says “Uhh…Blood and Guts…” and the challenge has officially been sent out for 2 weeks from tonight. Of all the Death Riders, it was Shafir who had to be held back in hearing the challenge.

Match Result: Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly ended in a double countout

**********

-Back from break, Mercedes Mone is beating down Kris Statlander backstage (in front of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, who is getting some serious TV time here tonight) and brings her out to the arena. Statlander fought back, got Mone in a fireman’s carry and chucked her into the ring. With Mone backtracking, Statlander was attacked by Athena from behind, who tossed Statlander in the ring. Backstabber into an O-Face as Mone locked in the Statement Maker, while Athena trash talked Statlander. Willow Nightingale’s music hit and she sprinted out with Harley Cameron, the two who will face Mone & Athena next week in the Tag Title Tournament. Cameron was the one who checked on Statlander, while Nightingale stared down Mone & Athena.

-Video package on Bandido welcoming his family to watch him wrestle last week as we’re told this weekend Bandido will defend against Mascara Dorada for the ROH Title.

-We’re told at commentary (I should point out Bryan Danielson is wearing a Hechicero mask for Halloween) before the upcoming tag match that Penelope Ford has suffered an injury and possibly won’t be medically cleared to compete in the Tag Title Tournament and also the upcoming Blood & Guts match.

Jamie Hayter & Queen Aminata vs. Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue) in an AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title Quarterfinal

(Quick, but somewhat surprising finish to this, as it does continue planting seeds for the women’s Blood & Guts, which at this point, we still don’t know who the teams will officially be. Hart & Blue advance to face the winner of Mone & Athena and Nightingale & Cameron next week.)

Sunset flip and running boot combo from Hayter & Aminata on Hart to start, as Blue tagged in and immediately found herself locked in the Chocolate Kisses from Aminata. Fast tags from Hayter & Aminata, who hit a double suplex on Hart & Blue, who continued to be isolated, as Hayter delivered a Saito Suplex for a near fall. Blind tag by Hart, who popped Hayter with a cheap shot, allowing a double flapjack to connect, as Hayter was worked over into commercial.

Things return with Hart doing the top rope walk clubbing blow, but Hayter was able to counter a double suplex into one of her own. Aminata made the hot tag and ran wild with kicks, one in the corner, kicking right through the face of Blue. Hayter tagged back in with a missile dropkick and low sliding lariat for two, as Hart made the save. All four women slug it out, until Hart & Blue get dropped with stereo German suplexes. Hart & Blue answer with double superkicks, but Hayter & Aminata respond with double lariats into the quadruple down.

Blue & Aminata trade home run forearms until it switches to slaps. Hayter & Hart spilled outside, where we missed Thekla blindsiding Hayter with a Spear. Aminata was planted with an assisted spinning slam with Blue getting the pin. We thankfully got a replay of Thekla’s attack, as she stood with her Triangle of Madness partners at the ramp, as Blue & Hart pointed to the Women’s Tag Titles.

Match Result: Sisters of Sin defeated Jamie Hayter & Queen Aminata to advance in the Women’s Tag Title Tournament when Blue pinned Aminata

-Tony Schiavone (donning the Phantom of the Opera costume like it’s Halloween Havoc 1990) is backstage with Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford, who has her arm in a sling. Ford said she tore her UCL and is out indefinitely. Those titles were their destiny and they’re going to make every woman feels the same pain she’s in because that’s what they deserve. Bayne said any woman willing to make history, step up. Marina Shafir walks in and said don’t worry, she’s listening. Jon Moxley stood between them and said these two, look out. Shafir & Bayne gave each other a fist bump, as the new team is official.

Samoa Joe vs. HOOK vs. Ricochet vs. Bobby Lashley for an AEW World Title Match at Full Gear

(An action-packed main event, with probably the most predictable outcome, but the post-match was one for the books. I thought it was going to be a slow and drawn out ending, as they’re really teasing that Marshmallow Man appearance by Page, who showed he’s indeed a Master of Disguise and we had a hilarious reveal to ultimately have the AEW Men’s World Champ stand tall over a familiar challenger heading into Full Gear.)

HOOK tried to make the most out of this opportunity early by going after Joe, who wasn’t having any of it. Lashley pulled Joe to the floor and drove him into the steps, as Ricochet flew in with a dropkick to the floor, but as he came back to the ring to face off with HOOK, he didn’t know Lashley was right behind him. Ricochet was sent flying with throws by Lashley & HOOK, who tried a Northern Lights Suplex, so Lashley broke the pin. Showing no fear, HOOK went right at Lashley, who picked up HOOK, placed him on the apron and told him to calm down. HOOK refused, so Lashley launched him to the floor and slammed him on the apron. Ricochet flew in with a dive, but was caught, so Joe followed suit and mowed down Lashley & Ricochet with a dive, having Joe stand tall heading into break.

Back from break, HOOK fights back on Joe, who hit his snap powerslam, with HOOK just narrowly getting his head tucked in time. Ricochet returned and tried a dive off the second, but Joe did his casual walk off before lighting Ricochet up with jabs. Right as Joe was going for a home run shot, Lashley Pounced Ricochet from the ring and we get a meaty slugfest between he & Joe. Huge Spinebuster by Lashley on Joe, who caught a leaping Ricochet in with a Dominator, but HOOK broke the count. HOOK tried an up and over, Lashley caught him, but was sent into Joe with a clothesline. HOOK sent Lashley to the floor and again it’s Joe & HOOK, who hit a huge T-Bone Suplex. HOOK briefly posed and that delay allowed Ricochet to deck him. Ricochet just clipped Lashley with a dive before quickly following on the other side with a Sasuke Special on Joe. Shooting Star Press back inside on HOOK, who kicked out.

Ricochet loaded up for The Spirit Gun, but HOOK countered into REDRUM. Ricochet fought to his feet, but collapsed, until Joe ran in with a senton on them both. Joe quickly placed HOOK in the corner and wanted a Muscle Buster, but Lashley flew in with a Spear on Joe, right as he delivered the move. Lashley went for the cover, but Ricochet flew in from off camera with a 450 Splash and everyone is down. Ricochet wanted Vertigo on HOOK, who got a roll-up for two, sent Ricochet to the outside and low bridged Lashley. Ricochet cracked Lashley in the back with a chair and he stalked Ricochet up the aisle. Joe sank in the Coquina Clutch on HOOK and Lashley was about to turn back and make the save, but HOOK tapped out.

Post-match, Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata came to the ring to celebrate with Joe, as Tony Schiavone joined them with a mic in hand. Schiavone congratulated Joe and said it’s time to sign the contract and announces the “Fright Night Dynamite Crew” and it’s yet again the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, a Cow, Chicken a giant piece of Meat and a Bull. Joe takes the contract and said he wants to ensure this is the safest place possible to sign this and Hobbs & Shibata clear the ring aside from the Marshmallow Man. Joe ripped the mask off and it wasn’t Hangman Adam Page like he thought. Joe punched him in the face and signed the contract. Joe took the mic and said Page isn’t as creative as he used to be and apologizes for the carnage, but standing in front of you is your next AEW World Champion.

Schiavone said it’s official for Full Gear and said a toast for Joe is in order. Hobbs brought a bucket of beers in the ring and Joe was waiting for the toast to be over until Schiavone said Page is the living embodiment of Cowboy Sh*t. Page’s voice said “long, may he reign” and Schiavone was actually Hangman Page himself, who punted Shibata & Hobbs low before smashing the beer bottle over Joe’s head and hitting a Buckshot Lariat. Page had to be held back by security, as Joe was groggy from the attack. A pretty hilarious and clever way to end the show and for Page to get some revenge on Joe.

Match Result: Samoa Joe defeated HOOK, Ricochet & Bobby Lashley to earn an AEW Men’s World Title Match at Full Gear submitting HOOK

Four-way Tag Team title eliminator part of updated AEW Fright Night Dynamite lineup

A second title eliminator has been added to this Wednesday’s updated lineup for the Fright Night edition of AEW Dynamite from Edinburg, Texas.

Announced on Saturday’s Collision after the main event, it will be the Young Bucks vs. FTR vs. Jurassic Express vs. JetSpeed with the winners moving on to face Brodido for the AEW World Tag Team titles at next month’s Full Gear.

JetSpeed and Jurassic Express defeated FTR and the Bucks Saturday to win $400,000 in storyline. Of the four teams involved, only JetSpeed have never held the titles.

The inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament will begin as Jamie Hayter teams with Queen Aminata against the Sisters of Sin. Hayter and Aminata won a four-way on Wednesday to choose their first opponents for the tournament.

After the internal strife in his faction between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita, Don Callis will hold a family summit to cool tensions.

The new additions join the previously announced Samoa Joe vs. Hook vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Ricochet match to determine the next AEW World title contender, also at Full Gear.

Four-way number one contender’s match set for AEW Fright Night Dynamite

As part of this Wednesday’s Fright Night edition of AEW Dynamite, four men will compete for the right to challenge AEW World Champion Hangman Page at next month’s Full Gear.

Announced during Saturday’s Collision, former champion Samoa Joe will take on Bobby Lashley, Ricochet and Hook in the four-way from Edinburg, Texas.

Joe would appear to be the favorite after he and The Opps turned heel following his failed challenge of Page at last Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream. Page called out Joe during a show opening promo Saturday, promising to do far worse than embarrass and beat Joe, and instead would ruin his life.

Lashley has only three singles bouts in AEW since debuting in 2024 and is undefeated. His recent rival in Ricochet has won three straight and is 9-1 in his last ten while Hook has won 12 straight including on Saturday’s Collision over Griff Garrison.

AEW Fright Night Dynamite live results: Tag Team title match

The Tag Team titles are on the line as part of tonight’s AEW Fright Night Dynamite with an added stipulation.

The Young Bucks will defend the gold against Private Party and if Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy don’t win, they will be forced to split up forever.

Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will take on Shelton Benjamin after the former AEW World Champion rejected Benjamin and MVP’s advances regarding joining their faction.

Adam Cole returns to the ring for the first time in over a year following a serious ankle injury as he face House of Black’s Buddy Matthews. Either Cole or Roderick Strong will face MJF at November’ Full Gear if they can win three straight matches.

Kris Statlander continues her march towards a title match by facing TBS Champion Mercedes Mone’s bodyguard Kamille.

As he wrestles with standing up to Jon Moxley’s new-look BCC, Orange Cassidy will make an appearance on the show as will Hangman Page.

**********

AEW Fright Night: Dynamite comes on the air with a video package running down tonight’s card. We then go to backstage footage of the BCC leaving the arena last week where Claudio Castagnoli said 5 years ago Jon Moxley built this place with his own hands and won’t let it be ruined. We hear Orange Cassidy’s voice, who demands they cut the video as he power-walks to the ring.

Orange Cassidy Addresses Jon Moxley

Cassidy said he doesn’t do this, this isn’t who he is, he’s not a leader who comes out and talks for ten minutes. After last week, seeing his best friend, Chuck Taylor, get his neck crushed by a chair, he looked around, surrounded by the people he shouldn’t have been. Those who surrounded him were very young, the future of AEW, who have no idea the danger they are in. They have no idea how dangerous Jon Moxley is, so he knew right then and there what needed to be done. If Moxley has his way, there is no future for AEW, as he’s never needed AEW, but people like Cassidy do. Cassidy, these fans, they don’t exist without AEW. He needs to cut the head off the snake and makes sure no one else gets hurt, he’ll do it alone, to protect everybody. Cassidy will do that, by challenging Moxley for the AEW World Title, taking the symbol of this company, taking it out of Moxley’s bag and putting it in his backpack. Cassidy tells Moxley to let him know, he’s not hard to find, he’s where he is every week, in the ring, because he’s Orange Cassidy, the next AEW World Champion and he still doesn’t need a catchphrase.

-Mercedes Mone & Kamille were walking backstage when they were approached by Renee Paquette, asking for Mone’s prediction for Kamille’s match tonight. Mone scolded Paquette before doing her catchphrase and said just look at Kamille, she’s a brick house. Kris Statlander doesn’t hold a candle to her. Mone again scolded Paquette for wishing Kamille luck, saying she doesn’t need luck when you’re with the CEO.

Adam Cole defeated Buddy Matthews

(I enjoyed the story these two told, as with this being 14 months since Cole’s last match, it made sense to play up that he was gun shy to throw early offense. Once Matthews called Cole out for his toughness, it woke him up to get things going. Of interesting note, lots of fans were cheering for Matthews in this one. It does look like Cole’s next hurdle to MJF has been laid out, as the crowd reacted really strong for the Malakai Black appearance in the post-match.)

Both men shook hands to start, as Matthews backed Cole to the corner after multiple lock ups, demanding Cole bring it. Cole kept going to a headlock, but Matthews easily shrugged him off with shoulder tackles. Matthews dodged a superkick, as Cole seemed to shake out his ankle, as it’s the first time throwing one in well over a year. Cole was backdropped to the apron, but dropped off the apron to avoid a strike and seemed to tweak it a bit. Kyle O’Reilly was shown watching backstage, as Cole was trying to walk it off, when Matthews hit a punt kick from the apron as things went to break.

When things returned, Matthews connecting with a superplex, held on, but Cole countered into a neckbreaker on the knee for the reset. Both to the apron, where Cole planted Matthews with a DDT on the edge of the ring. Cole broke the count and managed a Heatseeker piledriver through the ropes for two. Matthews countered the Panama Sunrise into multiple Dragon Screws to the ankle before stomping on it repeatedly on the steps. Doc Sampson tended to Cole, as referee Bryce was out with him. The crowd actually chanted to ten and Matthews to be the winner, as the doctor went to help Cole to the back. Matthews took the mic and said this is why Cole is fragile, as the old Cole wouldn’t have walked away, the new Cole, is a bitch. Cole shook off the ref and hit the ring for a brawl, which Matthews won, as he continued to stomp the left ankle. Cole struggled to his feet, as he lured Matthews in to take the leg, but it led to multiple superkicks. Cole crumbled once, as Matthews fired off one of his own and a curb stomp for two.

The doctor again tended to Cole, as Matthews threw the towel to Cole, telling him to throw it in and quit. Cole chucked the towel at Matthews, hit another superkick, enzugiri and shining wizard for a close two. Cole again went for the Panama Sunrise, but Matthews hit a pump knee, Buckle Bomb and another curb stomp, but Cole kicked out at one. Cole caught a charging Matthews in the corner with a superkick and finally hit the Panama Sunrise, as Matthews rolled outside, allowing Cole to hit another Sunrise off the apron. Back inside, Cole lowered The Boom for the win.

Post match, Cole took the mic and thanked Matthews for reminding him who the real Adam Cole is. Cole offered a handshake and Matthews accepted until the lights went out. When they came on, Malakai Black was the one shaking hands with Cole, staring him down. Cole slowly backed off as commentary questioned if this was the next step Cole had to take before potentially getting his hands on MJF at Full Gear.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Private Party & Christopher Daniels, who brought up SCU breaking up three years ago being put in this similar position. Daniels said he let Frankie Kazarian down and he’s not even here anymore. Daniels reminds Zay & Quen what they’re risking tonight, as Quen said they’re good, Zay said they’re leaving Cleveland the next AEW Tag Team Champions.

-Adam Cole was being tended to backstage by doctors with The Kingdom standing by his side. Cole said he’s being thrown right into the fire with Matthews and now Malakai Black, but brought up MJF being fake for thinking he & Cole would ever be friends. The idea of Cole & MJF working together would never work. Cole brought up what MJF did to Wardlow, Sammy Guevara & Danny Garcia, so he won’t be the next in line, as MJF needs to be taught another lesson. It might have been extreme what The Undisputed Kingdom did to MJF, but they did it because they care about AEW and the team, which MJF will never be part of. Cole said he’ll get his hands on MJF at Full Gear, then corrected himself and said when we get our hands on MJF. Roderick Strong was actually nodding along behind Cole, despite also wanting to face MJF.

Kyle Fletcher & Don Callis Call Out Will Ospreay

Fletcher & Callis come to the stage to loud boos, as Callis said Fletcher has something important to say. Fletcher is calling out Will Ospreay, pointing to the tunnel, but he never came out. Fletcher said he’s just as disappointed as all the fans, when he was cut off by the Aussie Open music. Mark Davis walked out from the babyface tunnel and Fletcher wasn’t expecting it, but went in for a hug, which Davis turned down. Davis said he wish he could say the same thing, but Fletcher knows Ospreay is at home because of what Fletcher did. Davis doesn’t know who he’s even looking at. Fletcher said what’s happened since Davis has been away was Callis has opened his eyes to realizing Ospreay never cared about either of them. Davis should forget about Ospreay, since Ospreay forgot about Davis. Fletcher says he made sure Davis will always have a spot in The Family. Davis said they had an Empire, but Fletcher destroyed it. Davis walked off, but Fletcher said a day will come soon where Davis will have to make a hard decision, as he’s shown he has no issue cutting problems loose.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page, who said in July, Jay White entered the Owen Hart Tournament in hopes of an AEW World Title match. It wasn’t Christian Cage who cost White the match and three months on the shelf, it was Page. Their record in their series of matches in their career is 4-1 and said there’s no such thing as redemption, not for White, not for Page, there’s only wins and losses and consequences that follow. Page knows White will go for his bad leg, but White won’t know Page’s. Will he hit him with a steel chair, will he choke out his friends as he watches, will he burn down White’s house? Page is certain at the end of Full Gear, when he beats White, he’ll leave him like many others who have stood in his way, hurt, with less than you’ve had before. He will leave Jay White behind. I thought this was a great promo from Page.

-We see Wheeler Yuta, PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shaffir & Jon Moxley walking backstage and we’re told are on the move.

Jon Moxley & Crew Answer Orange Cassidy

Moxley & Shaffir, who is holding the briefcase presumably containing the AEW World Title, are joined up by Yuta, PAC & Castagnoli, as they make their official entrance through the crowd. Commentary told us Chuck Taylor is recuperating at home following the attack last week, as Tony Schiavone said he was still in the hospital on Saturday.

Moxley doesn’t expect Orange Cassidy or anyone else to appreciate what they’re doing, but one day, they’ll understand. Cassidy thinks he challenged Moxley when it was the other way around. What Moxley did to Chuck Taylor was cutting off some distraction, so Cassidy can focus on his goals. They realized Cassidy was their guy, they don’t want Cassidy to catch the disease that so many in AEW have, they have a fat paycheck and content with where they are. Moxley continues to push Cassidy, who has yet to walk through the valley yet. Moxley said when it happens, Cassidy won’t fight him on the mountain top, they’ll fight in the valley, where Cassidy better be willing to die in, as this ring, Moxley is prepared to. Cassidy thinks he’s pulling the strings, but let’s see about that right now.

Moxley whispered to Castagnoli, as PAC & Shaffir hold down Yuta, as Castagnoli gets a chair and places it around his neck. Cassidy sprinted to the ring and immediately was beaten down. Shaffir took Yuta to the corner, slapped him and told him to go after Cassidy and he did, putting the boots to Cassidy until Dark Order hit the ring and were immediately beaten down by Moxley & crew. Yuta took out Evil Uno with a chair, Alex Reynolds by Castagnoli and Silver by Moxley. They placed a chair around the throat of Cassidy ringside, when Darby Allin repelled down from the ceiling. Allin started brawling with Castagnoli going through the announce table, all while still being harnessed, so Reynolds made the save, helping free him. The brawl started, as Top Flight, Lio Rush, Private Party, Daniel Garcia all hit the ring and the numbers game is finally against the BCC. Castagnoli & PAC brawled through the crowd with everyone, as Shaffir & Moxley bailed. Private Party was left alone in the ring as The Young Bucks’ music hit and they had their entrance, coming out when the coast was clear, taking credit for running Moxley and crew off.

Private Party (Zay & Quen) defeated The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) to win the AEW Tag Team Titles

(Excellent match, as the story of Private Party’s backs against the wall and having to defy all the odds was told very well. The crowd was loudly behind Zay & Quen from the start and only got louder as the match progressed. I was split prior to this match on which direction they should go, as I didn’t think the overall build for Private Party was all that great, but ultimately, I think they made the right call for the time being, as the Tag Team division has needed a shot in the arm for such a long time. The Bucks don’t need the belts and having a young team like Zay & Quen could lead to more title defenses.)

Nicholas & Zay kick things off quick with a series of pin attempts before a stare down, with Zay not backing down. Blind tag from Matthew, as they hit a pop-up assisted dropkick to gain control. Quen managed a tag, as a double hurricanrana sent The Bucks outside, as Zay launched off Quen’s back for a massive dive on both. Back inside, Nicholas sent Quen over the top to the floor, as he ran distraction on referee Rick Knox, allowing Matthew to grab the ring bell. Quen managed to rip the bell away, went for a shot, but Matthew ducked and Quen smacked Zay instead. Zay came up bleeding, as Nicholas hit a Falcon Arrow off the steps, while Quen ate a superplex from Matthew for two as things went to break.

The Bucks controlled the entire commercial, as right when things returned, Quen made the hot tag to a bloody Zay, who ran wild. Pop-up double dropkick connected, as Quen & Zay fired off double superkicks before going up top for stereo 450 splashes for two. Poetry in Motion hit once, but while going for the second, Nicholas countered into a Destroyer in mid-air followed by an assisted Sliced Bread and double stomp Pendulum Powerbomb for two. Quen sent outside, as Matthew bit at the forehead of Zay before The Bucks hit Risky Business for another near fall.

Nicholas low bridged by Quen, who hit a springboard moonsault followed by a suicide dive on Matthew and another somersault dive back to Nicholas. Quen took too long to follow as a Doomsday Device punt kick flattened him. The Bucks dragged Quen up the ramp, as referee Knox brought The Bucks back to the ring. This distraction allowed Kazuchika Okada to appear and hit a Tombstone on Quen before bailing. Powerbomb/enzugiri combo on Zay back inside, as Nicholas hits a springboard hurricanrana into a Matthew cutter, which was a Gin n’ Juice variation that Excalibur called Milk n’ Cookies. The Bucks pumped up the shoes, as Zay ate a Superkick Party, but kicked out.

The Bucks called for the EVP Trigger, but Zay collapsed before it happened. They went for it again, but Zay ducked, The Bucks collided knees and he got a small package for two. Zay fought off a TK Driver, but was ultimately caught with the EVP Trigger, only for two, as the crowd went nuts. Nicholas connected on a V-Trigger, as Matthew hit One Winged Angel, but Quen flew in to break the count. Nicholas was crotched on the top, as Matthew was sent outside, allowing Zay & Quen to hit Gin n’ Juice and win the titles.

Post match, The Bucks have the Tag Team titles and hand them to Zay & Quen, showing sportsmanship before leaving. Private Party leap into the crowd to celebrate as The Bucks left dejected.

-We’re told Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy for the AEW World Title is official for Full Gear.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jamie Hayter & Penelope Ford, who said everyone seems to have forgotten who she is, including Hayter. Ford has gone through glass, barbed wire, skewers in her head, so she’s going to take what Hayter took from her. Hayter said Ford is lucky, next week, she’s going to mop the floor with Ford.

-Tale of the Tape is shown ahead of Swerve Strickland & Shelton Benjamin ahead of their main event tonight.

The Learning Tree Talk Ring of Honor

Footage of Ladder War last week was shown and Chris Jericho defeating Mark Briscoe for the ROH Title was shown. We then go to the stage where The Learning Tree are standing by. Big Bill said teamwork makes the dream work, only if the team works together. Jericho brings up the Wrestling Observer Newsletter saying his match last week will be remembered for a long time and Dave Meltzer giving it 4 stars. Jericho thanked Briscoe for helping him fulfil his prophecy of becoming The Nueve, then mistakenly calls Cleveland ‘Cincinatti’ before bringing up Terrifier 3 again. Jericho said with all due respect to Jon Moxley, AEW made it what it is and will do the same with ROH. He’ll do that because he can and not to underestimate Chris Jericho, which Bryan Keith repeats and calls everyone dumbasses. Jericho said he’ll take ROH to places they’ve never been before.

-Video package for Anna Jay & Mariah May is shown ahead of their AEW World Title match on Collision this week. This was a good showcase of Jay going to Japan to get more experience, while Mariah May, who has already been a star in Japan, was less than impressed.

-Alex Marvez was trying to get a word with The Young Bucks when Jack Perry runs him off. Daniel Garcia shows up and asks where Perry was at during the match, knowing he’ll lose his title next. Perry looked to bully Garcia, who slammed Perry against the wall, but Perry tried to fire back at him saying the crowd used to dance for him, too, smirking at Garcia, who stormed off.

Perry then walked into The Elite locker room where Brandon Cutler was helping The Young Bucks and Okada shred documents as Matthew told them they have to go and Perry slammed the door shut.

Kris Statlander defeated Kamille (w/Mercedes Mone)

(Rather quick match between these two, as a lot happened during commercial. After the struggle last week, it was probably for the best to keep this short, as it already looks like Kamille & Mone are on the rocks. Statlander is obviously next in line for the TBS Title, so she needed to look rather dominant here and she did.)

Power advantage is anyone’s game here and very even, but it’s Kamille with the early shoulder tackle. Statlander popped right up as Kamille was posing and took her down before a stalemate. Kamille low bridged, but hung up Statlander on the top before hitting a lariat, taking control into commercial.

Back from break, Statlander hit a snap powerslam to get the crowd into it, as she side stepped a Kamille pump kick and hit a F5 for two. Statlander missed a 450 Splash, allowing Kamille to hit the Rough Ryder for two of her own. Torture Rack spin into the powerbomb connected, but Statlander kicked out. Kamille wanted a Tombstone, but Statlander reversed it into Wednesday Night Fever for the win.

Post match, Mone attacked Statlander with the TBS Title from behind and took the mic, ordering Kamille to the back. Mone said when you want something done right, you do it yourself, as she held the TBS Title up to the face of Statlander, who was motionless.

-Video package of the recent history between The Patriarchy, Kip Sabian & HOOK was shown. Backstage, Christian Cage offers an olive branch to HOOK next week, so Cage can explain himself for his actions.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Conglomeration, as Mark Briscoe said the ROH World Title means a whole lot to him. The word of the day in instability, as Chris Jericho has none of that, after letting Jay Briscoe’s name come out of his mouth for the last time. Briscoe said they have three of them, three of The Learning Tree and issues a six-man tag Fight Without Honor next week.

-The Young Bucks are leaving the arena as Christopher Daniels runs up asking why they’re turning their backs on them when they need them the most. Matthew said no one wanted to listen to them, so they’ll be working from home. The Bucks drive off, as Brandon Cutler stumbles back with a box of shoes, they left without him. Moxley, PAC, Castagnoli, Yuta & Shaffir all appear, knock the shoes out of his hands and Daniels is held back by Moxley, as Cutler’s hand is placed on a truck and smashed with a hammer by Castagnoli. Moxley asks Daniels where his boys are going, things were just getting good. Moxley walks off with Shaffir & Yuta as Daniels yells for doctors. I thought this was a great segment that planted seeds for The Elite wanting to hopefully come back and fight for their company down the line.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated Shelton Benjamin (w/MVP)

(I had to look up to see if these two ever wrestled prior to this and only once in 2017 in Waterloo, Iowa. You would’ve thought these two had many matches together with how well they worked with one another. Benjamin had been built up well since being in AEW and was a good opponent for Strickland in his return. The post-match was the bigger story, as the anticipated debut of Bobby Lashley set the stage for Strickland’s next story. He & Nana are going to need some help to battle The Hurt Syndicate, I wonder who will step up to be in this storyline?)

Benjamin wrestled Strickland to the mat early, as we see MVP going over to Prince Nana and whispering something to him, as Strickland hit a head scissors into the stalemate. Spinning belly to belly overhead suplex sent Strickland flying to the floor, as Benjamin tried to post him, but Strickland escaped and locked in an arm bar using the post. Benjamin recovered and sent Strickland from apron to the guardrail repeatedly before slamming Strickland down back in the ring. Strickland side stepped a corner charge, hit a Tiger Feint Kick, but as he tried a springboard, Benjamin caught a big step-up knee as things went to break.

It was all Benjamin with the power game during commercial, as Strickland battled back with his corkscrew kick to reset the match. The crowd was loudly behind Strickland, who hit the leaping uppercut from the corner before a pump kick on the apron dropped Benjamin. Back inside, missile dropkick connects for a near fall. Strickland tried his rolling Flatliner, but Benjamin caught him mid-move and spiked him with a DDT for two. Both men slowly rose to a stare down, traded kicks at the same time with Benjamin crumbling and Strickland hitting the House Call and 450 Splash for a close two. The kick-out led Benjamin to a waist lock and he hit a release German suplex and step-up corner knee, but a desperation rolling Flatliner answer from Strickland led to a double down with the crowd cheering loudly. Strickalnd went to the top, but Benjamin leapt to meet him, only for Strickland to slide out and hit a Liger Bomb. This led to a Swerve Stomp and the victory for Strickland.

Post match, MVP was on his phone and made a call, saying to whoever is on the other end that he needs them here now. The lights went out for a brief second before a drumroll was played and Bobby Lashley walks to the stage to a big reaction. Lashley walks down and gives MVP a hug as Excalibur puts over immediately how Lashley could easily make claim to the title. Lashley & Strickland are face-to-face as Holy Sh*t chants echo through the crowd. Benjamin popped up on the apron, distracting Strickland enough for Lashley to hit a clothesline and major spinebuster, all while MVP & Benjamin put the boots to Nana. Benjamin hit a big boot on Nana while Lashley locked in a Full Nelson on Strickland. Hilariously you can hear someone yell 90 seconds and 45 for the countdown til off air. Referees and security run down with the security getting their asses royally handed to them. MVP took the mic and asked “guess whose back in business?” to end the show standing over the fallen Strickland & Nana. The Hurt Syndicate has officially arrived as a collective group in AEW.

Adam Cole in-ring return, Tag Team title match added to AEW Fright Night Dynamite

Adam Cole will return to the ring for his first match in over a year on the October 30 AEW Fright Night Dynamite.

Cole will go one-on-one with Buddy Matthews next week after Matthews issued a challenge to Cole and the two had a backstage confrontation on this week’s Dynamite.

It will be the first match for Cole since last September after he suffered an ankle injury jumping off the stage at last year’s Dynamite Grand Slam.

The Cole bout is one of two new matches for next Wednesday’s Dynamite added to the lineup during this week’s episode.

Private Party & Daniel Garcia defeated The Young Bucks & Jack Perry in a trios match in this week’s Dynamite main event, then Private Party challenged The Young Bucks to a Tag Team Championship rematch from WrestleDream on next week’s Dynamite. The Bucks refused until Isiah Kassidy proposed the stipulation that Private Party will disband forever unless they win the titles, at which point they accepted the match for next week.

Already announced for next week’s special Fright Night Dynamite are Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin, plus Kamille taking on Kris Statlander.

The updated card for AEW Fright Night Dynamite set for Wednesday, October 30:

  • Adam Cole vs. Buddy Matthews
  • AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks defend against Private Party — Private Party must disband if they lose
  • Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin
  • Kris Statlander vs. Kamille

Kris Statlander vs. Kamille added to AEW Fright Night Dynamite

A new match has been added to Fright Night Dynamite.

The special edition of Dynamite on October 30 will see Kris Statlander take on Mercedes Mone’s associate Kamille. In a promo on Collision, Statlander said she was the strongest woman in AEW and called out Kamille, saying she’s been a pain in her a**. The match was made official later in the show.

Since defeating Willow Nightingale in a street fight at AEW All Out, Kris Statlander has made an about-face, dropping Stokely Hathaway as her manager and has focused on winning back the TBS title from its current holder, Mone. Statlander has blamed Mone for tearing apart her relationship with Nightingale due to Nightingale’s obsession with Mone and the title.

Already announced for Fright Night is Shelton Benjamin taking on Swerve Strickland. MVP has been attempting to recruit Swerve as a new client, but Strickland has shown no interest.

Here is the updated lineup for AEW Fright Night Dynamite:

  • Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin
  • Kris Statlander vs. Kamille

Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin announced for AEW Fright Night Dynamite

Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will make his return to the ring in two weeks’ time as he takes on new roster member Shelton Benjamin on the Fright Night-themed edition of AEW Dynamite.

The show is set for Wednesday, October 30th in Cleveland, Ohio.

After Benjamin made his promotional in-ring debut Wednesday with an impressive win over Lio Rush, MVP took to the microphone to call out Strickland and say they should pick up their conversation from WrestleDream where Strickland and Benjamin went face-to-face.

In a backstage segment later on, Strickland accepted the challenge for anytime and anywhere. He hasn’t competed since losing a steel cage match to Hangman Page at September’s All Out.

The two have wrestled once before back in July 2017 for an Iowa indie promotion.

Benjamin recently signed with AEW along with MVP, re-uniting as the Hurt Syndicate as indicated on Benjamin’s trunks worn Wednesday. Bobby Lashley has reportedly signed with AEW as well, but has yet to be introduced.

Here’s the current lineup for Cleveland:

  • Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin
