AEW Rampage live results: Tag Team title eliminator finals

The next challengers to AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks will be decided on Friday’s Rampage as the Lucha Brothers take on Jurassic Express in the finals of the Tag Team title eliminator tournament.

The winners will face the Bucks in a steel cage match at next Sunday’s All Out for the titles. The stipulation was added prior to the four-team tournament as Tony Khan was tired of the Bucks winning matches thanks to outside interference.

Rampage will also see AEW World Champion Kenny Omega team with Brandon Cutler against Impact World Champion Christian Cage and Frankie Kazarian coming out of an in-ring promo Wednesday that resulted in a brawl. Omega will defend the title against Cage at All Out.

In a match featuring two of the competitors in the women’s Casino Battle Royale, Tay Conti will put her long winning streak on the line against The Bunny.

CM Punk and Darby Allin will also do promos ahead of their match at the pay-per-view.

Chris Jericho is back on commentary for this show, along with Taz, Mark Henry and Excalibur.

Tag Team title eliminator tournament final: Lucha Brothers (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (w/ Marko Stunt) (13:00)

Of course, the Young Bucks and their stooge Brandon Cutler were watching from the entrance.

There is no way I’m going to be able to describe all of this action, but I will do my best. NBA champion and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is shown in the crowd. Fenix and Jungle Boy started out with a very technical exchange. The shake hands after their exchange, and tag in their partners so we get Luchasaurus and Penta. Penta took off the glove and teased tossing it to Marko Stunt, but tossed it to Alex Abrahantes instead. Soon, all four guys were in the ring and everyone hit everyone else with some version of a hook kick or a superkick.

Back from a break, and Jungle Boy got a near fall on Fenix off of a rollup. Then, both men hit tope suicidias on the opponents on the floor. Back in the ring, Luchasaurus and Penta got the tags, and Luchasaurus got a German suplex on Penta, then hit both his opponents with a clothesline. Luchasaurus hit the tail hip on Penta, chokeslammed Fenix on top of Penta, then hit a standing moonsault on Penta for a two count. Penta evaded another chokeslam attempt and got the tag to Fenix. Luchasaurus missed a charge in the corner and Fenix hit him with a spinning hook kick. Fenix followed that up with a big frog splash for a two count.

After a big headbutt, Luchasaurus got the tag to Jungle Boy, and Perry floored Fenix with a lariat and a poisoned rana for two. Jungle Boy followed that up with a tiger bomb and the snare trap, but Penta broke that up with a kick to Jungle Boy’s head.

Penta then got the tag and hit a massive backbreaker on Jungle Boy, and hit the Made in Japan for the closest two count I’ve ever seen. Penta and Fenix went for the fear factor, but Jungle Boy escaped. Jungle Boy went for something off the middle rope onto the floor, but Fenix caught him by walking across the ropes, then snapping off a beautiful top rope hurricanrana onto Jungle Boy, who was caught by a pile of guys on the floor. Penta got Jungle Boy back in the ring for two. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus went for the Thoracic Express but Penta broke that up.

The fight went onto the apron, and Penta hit a Canadian destroyer on the apron on Jungle Boy. Fenix then came off the top rope and hit a Canadian destroyer on Luchasaurus and barely got a one count. Penta and Fenix then hit a bunch of superkicks on Luchasaurus, then finished him off with the double team piledriver to get the win.

Lucha Bros versus the Young Bucks in the cage is official for All Out.

After the match, The Young Bucks attacked Penta and Fenix, but Abrahantes and Marko Stunt ran them off.

CM Punk and Darby Allin

A great video aired of the return of CM Punk to wrestling in AEW, and Punk calling out Darby Allin. This was a great preview of the  Punk v. Allin main event for All Out.

Miro promo

Miro threw Fuego del Sol out of the entryway and kicked him down to the ring. In the ring, Miro pulled off del Sol’s mask and kicked him in the face. This brought  out Eddie Kingston with a mic, but Kingston dropped the might and decided to go after Miro. Kingston got the advantage on Miro, hitting him with an exploder suplex, before the refs came in to break it up. I think you can pencil a Miro/Kingston TNT title match in for All Out.

**********

Bunny (w/ the Blade) defeated Tay Conti (4:30)

Bunny jumped Conti before the bell. She hit Conti with a sliding elbow in the corner and got a near fall. Bunny and Conti started exchanging chops in the corner, but Conti got the better of that exchange. So Bunny raked her eyes and choked her. Conti dominated the offense in the match and as a result it wasn’t very good. Bunny hit a flying clothesline for a near fall. Conti came back with a trifecta of judo throws and a face buster. She followed up with a spinning uranage and three pump kicks in the corner. Conti hit the TayKO as Penelope Ford came to the ring, which distracted Tay and kept her from hitting her DDT finish. Ford got on the apron to distract Conti and the ref, which allowed Blade to sneak Bunny the brass knucks, which she used to knock out Conti. Conti got the pin.

Ford and Conti stood together in victory after the match, teasing a partnership for the Women’s Casino Battle Royal.

A run-down of future shows:

The big news here is Miro v. Eddie Kingston for the TNT title is now official for All Out. Also added to All Out is Lucha Bros vs. The Young Bucks in the Steel Cage for the World Tag Team Titles. Now added to Wendesday’s Dynamite is the Lucha Bros & Jurassic Express versus The Young Bucks and the Good Brothers. And next Friday on Rampage, Danny Garcia takes on Darby Allin. All of these matches are coming from Chicago.

Face to Face:

Mark Henry moderates an interview between Kenny Omega and Don Callis (with Brandon Cutler) and Christian Cage and Frankie Kazarian. Kazarian made a point of asking Kenny to make sure that he tags in for the match.

**********

IMPACT Champion Christian Cage & Frankie Kazarian defeated AEW World Champion Kenny Omega & Brandon Cutler (w/ Michael Nakazawa & Don Callis) (8:35)

The crowd chanted “piece of s***” at Callis. Kazarian and Cutler started out and Kazarian pounded Cutler down in the corner. After a pretty severe opening beating, Kenny tagged in. Nakazawa tripped Kazarian, and Omega used that distraction to attack. Kazarian came back with a running legsweep, and Kazarian got the tag to Cage. Omega immediately tagged out to Cutler, wanting no parts of Cage.

Cage went right to Cutler’s nose with a punch. Kazarian got the tag and suplexed Cutler onto the top rope, then kicked him out of the ring. The fight went to the floor, and Nakazawa hit Kazarian with his laptop, which Kazarian didn’t sell. Cage came around and dumped Nakazawa into the crowd, but Omega used the distraction to nail Kazarian with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Omega hit the “You can’t escape!” sequence on Kazarian for two.

Omega hit Kazarian with a very intense pie face. Cutler got the tag and started dropping dancing elbows on Kazarian. The third elbow drop missed, and Kazarian got the tag to Cage. Cutler tried to get the tag to Omega, but Omega dropped down and left Kazarian to get slaughtered by Cage. Omega tried to sneak in and hit a One Winged Angel on Christian, but Christian escaped and beat on both Cutler and Omega with punches in the corner. Cage hit a pair of reverse DDTs, but Omega crotched Christian against the post. Christian was able to come back, and when he went for the Killswitch on Omega, Omega slid out of the ring and left Cutler for dead. Christian hit Cutler with the spear and the killswitch to get the pin.

Final Thoughts:

Great opening match. The rest of the show flew by. Rampage is 3-for-3 in great episodes.

New stipulation added to AEW Dynamite match

A new stipulation has been added to the Dax Harwood vs. Jungle Boy match set for Dynamite.

AEW announced this afternoon that Cash Wheeler and Tully Blanchard will be handcuffed to Luchasarus at ringside to prevent any interference. Harwood last week accepted a challenge from Jungle Boy without consulting Wheeler or Blanchard. Luchasarus said he would make sure that no one got involved.

The two teams have been feuding in recent weeks. On night two of New Year’s Smash, FTR defeated Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt, with FTR scoring the pinfall win over Stunt.

Lucha Bros to face Jurassic Express on AEW Dynamite

AEW has made a new match announcement for this Wednesday’s post-All Out episode of Dynamite.

The Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix w/ Eddie Kingston) will face off with Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy) on Dynamite this Wednesday. This will be the first time Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy have faced The Lucha Bros in a two-on-two match. They were originally supposed to face each other in the first round of AEW’s Tag Team title tournament last year, but Marko Stunt replaced Luchasaurus in the match due to Luchasaurus being injured.

“This match was supposed to be our tv debut. I’m glad we’re finally getting back to it,” Jungle Boy tweeted today.

The Young Bucks defeated Jurassic Express at All Out. That match was set up by The Young Bucks & Jurassic Express teaming together to defeat SCU & Private Party in an eight-man tag match on Dynamite last week. The stipulation was that the two teams on the winning side would face each other at All Out.

At Saturday’s pay-per-view, Penta El Zero M and Fenix were both entrants in the Casino Battle Royale. Lance Archer won the battle royal and will challenge for Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship at some point in the future.

Here’s he updated lineup for this week’s Dynamite:

  • TNT Champion Brodie Lee defends against Dustin Rhodes
  • Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs. Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss in a no DQ match
  • The Lucha Bros vs. Jurassic Express
  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley speaks after retaining his title against MJF at All Out
  • Matt Hardy will appear following the injury he suffered at All Out
  • Kip Sabian will reveal his best man for his wedding with Penelope Ford

Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express added to AEW All Out

As a result of their win on AEW Dynamite Wednesday, the Young Bucks will face Jurassic Express on Saturday’s All Out pay-per-view.

The Bucks teamed with the Express to take on Private Party and SCU with the stipulation that the winning team members would square off on the PPV. The Bucks got the win for their foursome after the BTE Trigger on Quen got the win.

Afterward, the Bucks didn’t stick around to make nice with the Express and were being pushed on commentary as upset after Hangman Page cost them a chance to compete for the AEW Tag Team Titles at All Out.

This will be the first time the two teams have faced each other in a traditional tag team match in AEW.

That match helps round out a card that includes:

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. MJF
  • AEW World Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. FTR
  • AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida vs. NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa
  • Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy in a Mimosa Mayhem match
  • 21-man Casino Battle Royale for an AEW World title shot
  • Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara in a Broken Rules match
  • Dark Order (TNT Champion Mr. Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) vs. The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall), Scorpio Sky and Matt Cardona

Three matches added to next week’s AEW Dynamite

An updated lineup was revealed for next week’s episode of Dynamite.

A TNT title match was set, as Cody will defend the title against Scorpio Sky of SCU. Sky and Cody exchanged some words as Cody was heading to the back following a match on tonight’s show.

Next week’s edition of Dynamite will serve as Tag Team Appreciation Night. Jurassic Express will take on AEW World Tag Team champions Kenny Omega & Hangman Page, while Stu Grayson & Evil Uno of the Dark Order will take on The Young Bucks.

As part of Tag Team Appreciation Night, there will be appearances by Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, and The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express.

Additionally, the match between Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho is now a $7,000 obligation match. If Orange Cassidy loses, he must pay $7,000 for the jacket he ruined when he poured orange juice on the Inner Circle.

This week’s Dynamite featured a debate between Cassidy and Jericho, with Eric Bischoff serving as a special guest moderator. Cassidy won the debate, but was laid out by Jericho and Jake Hager.

AEW Dark results: Brian Cage vs. Brian Pillman Jr.

Match Recommendations:

Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy vs. Brandon Cutler & Peter Avalon (w/Leva Bates) | 8:48

Show Recap:

Brandi Rhodes & Allie (w/Dustin Rhodes) defeated Rache Chanel & Diamante

Allie came to the ring holding a “I miss you, QT” sign. Diamante and Allie started the match. Early on, Allie hit a flying knee on Diamante for a one count. Diamante tagged Chanel in, but Allie and Brandi continued to control the match.

After multiple tag team moves, Diamante and Chanel briefly took control. Diamante landed multiple downward elbows on Allie, which resulted in a two count. Allie reversed a cazadora and planted Diamante face down onto the canvas.

Diamante attempted a running dropkick into the corner onto Allie, but Brandi pushed Allie out of the way. Allie made the hot tag to Brandi, and she hit a sling blade on Chanel while Allie took out Diamante. Brandi landed a pump kick and then a spear for the win.

Ricky Starks defeated Robert Anthony

Anthony got the best of Starks early on with solid mat wrestling. Starks hit a clothesline and a release northern lights suplex, but was unable to go for a pin. Starks landed a swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. Anthony locked on a romero special and then slammed him face down onto the mat for a two count.

Significant swelling began to show under Starks’ right eye. Starks regained momentum and landed a double underhook facebuster for the win.

After the match, Starks went to the commentary table and fist bumped Taz. Potential partnership?

– A video package aired of Shawn Spears explaining the significance of the glove Tully Blanchard gave him.

The Dark Order (John Silver, Alex Reynolds & Alan Angels) defeated Shawn Dean, Will Hobbs & Joe Alonzo

Angels and Hobbs started the match. Hobbs tossed Angels into his corner which allowed Silver to tag in. Silver took control and tagged in Reynolds and the two hit stereo dropkicks on Alonzo for a two count. Alonzo escaped Reynolds and tagged in Dean.

Dean threw Reynolds to the outside and landed a beautiful suicide dive. Back inside, Angels tagged in and regained control for the Dark Order. Silver hit a running kick on Dean for a two count. The Dark Order continued to make quick tags as Silver and Reynolds held Dean up while Angels hit a top rope moonsault on his back for a two count.

Hobbs distracted Angels, which allowed Dean to roll up him up for a two count. Angels hit a beautiful standing spanish fly on Dean, and chaos ensued as all six guys entered the ring and hit their spots. Reynolds and Silver hit a flipping destroyer DDT on Alonzo for the win.

Marko Stunt defeated Michael Nakazawa

Taz mentioned how Nakazawa was packing multiple items in the front of his trunks. Nakazawa, at a minimum, had two bottles of oil in there. At the bell, he said he didn’t need the oil and threw one bottle to the outside.

Stunt hit numerous dropkicks in the corner, which led to Nakazawa escaping to the outside. Stunt then landed an elbow suicide dive to the outside. Back in the ring, Nakazawa laid in multiple chops, stomps, and a bodyslam for a two count. As predicted, Nakazawa brought out another bottle of oil and lathered Stunt up with it.

Stunt attempted a comeback, but Nakazawa hit a Samoan drop and a spear for a two count. For the second week in a row, Nakazawa brought out the thong which he wrapped around his hand. Stunt dropkicked Nakazawa’s hand into his face, and the thong stuck to his face allowing Stunt to roll him up for the win.

What did I just watch?

Dr. Luther & Serpentico defeated Brady Pierce & Pineapple Pete

At the bell, Luther began his assault on Pete. Serpentico tagged in which gave Pete the breather he needed to take control. Pierce and Luther both tagged in. Pierce sent Luther in the corner and Pete once again tagged in.

Luther hit a belly to belly suplex for a two count. Serpentico tagged in, and Luther slammed him onto Pete three times. Luther and Serpentico made multiple tags and landed numerous tag team maneuvers on Pete.

Pete rallied back and spiked Serpentico’s head onto the canvas, which allowed him enough time to tag in Pierce. Pierce landed a pump kick into a spinebuster for a two count. Luther wasn’t having it and jumped in to shift the momentum back in their favor. Luther held up Pierce while Serpentico hit a top rope meteora on him for the win, their first as a team.

Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy defeated Brandon Cutler & Peter Avalon (w/Leva Bates)

The Young Bucks were ringside for this match, hoping to see their friend Cutler pick up his first win in AEW. Jungle Boy and Avalon started things off. Cutler tagged in and hit multiple kicks to Jungle Boy’s head for a two count.

Jungle Boy tagged in Luchasaurus and the two used the ten count to their advantage, hitting a flapjack on Cutler for a two count. Jungle Boy landed a double stomp for another near fall. Cutler countered a waist lock and hit a springboard forearm to take control.

Avalon tagged in, cut the ring off, and landed a brainbuster. Jungle Boy hit a clothesline and made the hot tag to Luchasaurus, who laid out both Avalon and Cutler. Luchasaurus executed a chokeslam and attempted a moonsault, but Cutler got his knees up.

On the outside, Bates neutralized Jungle Boy with a hurricanrana, which allowed Cutler to land a DDT and make the tag to Avalon. Cutler nailed Luchasaurus with a springboard elbow drop, but the pinfall attempt was broken up by Jungle Boy. Luchasaurus made the tag to Jungle Boy, who hit back-to-back topé suicidas on Avalon and Cutler.

Jungle Boy nailed a tiger suplex into a bridge on Avalon for a near fall. Jungle Boy hit an outside-in DDT on Cutler to send him out. Luchasaurus then helped elevate Avalon into Jungle Boy who hit a cutter for the win.

FTW Champion Brian Cage defeated Brian Pillman

Excalibur mentioned numerous times that the FTW title is not sanctioned by AEW. Cage took control early on with chops and a gnarly release german suplex. On the outside, Pillman reversed a powerbomb attempt and landed a diving dropkick through the ropes.

Pillman attempted a cannonball senton from the apron to the floor, but Cage caught him and landed a suplex. Back in the ring, Cage hit the drill claw for the win. After the match, Cage continued his assault with some powerbombs and an F5.

Closing Thoughts:

There’s no reason Dark should be longer than one hour. The match between Jurassic Express and Brandon Cutler & Peter Avalon was worth watching, but everything else was skippable.

In the future, I’d like to see more lower card wrestlers get victories against each other as right now, it’s the same guys losing each week. It would be nice for some of them to gain a little credibility. But, “The Original Death Dealer” and Serpentico picked up a win tonight, so I guess that’s a step in the right direction.

Jurassic Express-Butcher & The Blade added to next AEW Dynamite

AEW continued with their plans to hold Dynamite this Wednesday at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, announcing a tag match between The Butcher & The Blade and Jurassic Express.

The match is a tie-in to last Wednesday’s Dynamite when both teams were in a six-man tag as MJF joined Butcher & The Blade, a match the heels won when MJF tapped out Marko Stunt.

This week’s show was originally scheduled for Rochester, NY, but had to be moved due to New York State banning any assemblies of 500 people or more due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Jacksonville venue is owned by the Khan family and the show will be open to families and media but not the general public as of this point.

Also announced for the show:

  • The debut of Dark Order’s Exalted One.
  • The Inner Circle vs. The Elite six-man tag where the winners will have the advantage for the upcoming Blood & Guts match in less than two weeks (which also needs a home location after being moved)
  • Lucha Bros vs. Best Friends

When looking up this episode on YouTube I couldn’t help but notice the large number of episodes (including this one) where the thumbnail is of the Jurassic Express.

**********

Jurassic Express (with Marko Stunt) defeated Kip Sabian & Peter Avalon (with Penelope Ford & Leva Bates)

Speaking of the Jurassic Express, they are here to kick off Dark this week. Avalon, who comes into this match at 0-10, took forever to start his promo. He got as far as saying we were in Denver before the Express’ music began. This doesn’t seem right, but the graphic indicates this is only the second time Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are teaming together in a two-on-two tag match.

Jungle Boy ran wild on both heels and was going for some sort of slingshot maneuver, but Penelope tripped him up and Sabian took over. Sabian and Avalon worked well together. Avalon missed a beautiful moonsault, giving Jungle Boy room to crawl for a tag. However. Ford grabbed one of Leva’s books and threw it into the ring to distract the referee, so the heels kept control.

Unfortunately for Sabian and Avalon, their ladies could not get along. Bates and Ford began arguing with one another, which distracted the team long enough for Luchasaurus to get the tag. He had it almost had it won with a moonsault to Avalon, but Sabian bum-rushed into the pile, breaking up the cover. Luchasaurus gave Sabian the tail whip, allowing Jungle Boy to pin Avalon following an assisted cutter.

Tony Schiavone and Dasha Gonzalez previewed the rest of the show. Dasha wanted to know why Tony was wearing a Nightmare Family shirt. Turns out 20% of the proceeds of that shirt up until March 14 will be donated to Planned Pethood.

Jimmy Havoc defeated Severino Corrente

I believe “Severino Corrente” loosely translates to “lamb being led to slaughter.”

Corrente had his fingers yanked back. Most people would be like “I’m done”. Instead Corrente punched Havoc to no avail. Jimmy used a discus elbow to the face and went for some sort of fireman’s carry, but Corrente raked the eyes.

Corrente started to build momentum, but then he ran chest-first into Jimmy’s feet. He did duck an Acid Rainmaker and used a German suplex into the corner turnbuckles. He tried to fishhook Havoc, but instead Jimmy bit his fingers. A series of impact moves followed, including a leg hook DDT and finished off Corrente with an Acid Rainmaker for the pin.

Havoc beckoned to the back, daring Luther and Mel to come out. Unfortunately, you get what you ask for, as Luther flew down the ramp and attacked Havoc from behind, eventually laying out Havoc with a DDT on the ramp.

**********

Hikaru Shida defeated Abadon

Abadon is one of the most unique looking wrestlers on the roster. She has done her face paint to look like blood is seeping from her forehead into her eye and down her cheek. She is certainly a sight to behold. By comparison, Hikaru Shida does not look like she has blood coming out of her eye.

Some of the crowd chanted for Abadon to “eat her soul” despite being the heel and Shida being very well liked. Abadon tried to eat Shida’s hand, which threw off the number one ranked contender. Abadon looked really good here and I really hope she’s not one and done. Abadon had her tied in the ropes and licked Shida’s face. Shida was not happy about this, possibly for more than one reason.

Abadon didn’t sell for much, but she definitely felt it when Shida used a running knee in the corner and a missile dropkick. Shida nailed a knee to the back of the head, but Abadon almost won with the Edge-a-matic. Shida finally managed to hit a Shining Wizard for the win.

**********

Backstage, Dasha asked Jimmy Havoc for an update on his injuries. Havoc thanked Luther for doing it, so being the nice guy Luther is, he attacked Havoc again and had to be dragged away.

**********

The Librarians were telling us about the newest book of the month, which is Written In The Stars. They came upon Colt Cabana, who was listening to a podcast instead of reading a book. Avalon kept recommending authors, so Colt recommended podcasts. This led to a challenge for a match.

Leva went back and told Colt she loves his podcast.

**********

Private Party defeated Sonny Kiss & Brandon Cutler

A few weeks ago, Cutler almost beat Private Party by himself when his partner, Shawn Spears walked out. So how will things be when he has a loyal partner? Either way, Cutler is dueling it out with Peter Avalon for the worst record in AEW at 0-9.

Cutler did a great job countering Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen, much like he did the last time they met. This time Sonny got involved and it ended up in a standoff. Excalibur wondered if Quen and Sonny got their hair done at the same place, which led Taz to say he thinks they go to the same “Dye-ist”. While this conversation was going on, Kiss went down to a combo Rude Awakening/Double Foot Stomp, giving Private Party the advantage.

Private Party mimicked Kiss while getting the heat on him. Cutler got the hot tag and used a beautiful springboard double clothesline. Cutler looked good, laying a beating on both men. We did have a contrived spot where Kassidy was laying on the middle rope and had to stay hanging there while Cutler did moves to Quen first.

Get out the hammer and nails, because this team of Cutler and Kiss are BUILDING MOMENTUM! Kiss went for a boot on Quen, but Marq moved and Kiss ended up in the splits. Quen went for what turned into a Moonsault with double knees. Cutler got in and started doing moves without getting a tag. The referee kept telling him he’s not legal, but Cutler ignored him and hit the TPK on both members of Private Party. Kiss went to the middle rope, but Kassidy prevented him from leaping off. Quen tagged in as Private Party nailed Kiss with the Gin and Juice for the win.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere (or just off the camera), Death Triangle ran in to attack Private Party! PAC, Pentagon and Fenix ended up laying out not only them, but also Cutler and Kiss, who tried to make the save.

PAC took the mic and told all of AEW that if they continue to disrespect athletes of their caliber, they’ll get exactly what they asked for. Joey Janela tried to run in for the save, but was also laid out. Best Friends and Orange Cassidy then hit the ring to send the Death Triangle reeling as the show closed

Jurassic Express-Inner Circle six-man tag added to AEW Dynamite

All Elite Wrestling announced a six-man tag team match Thursday for next week’s Dynamite in Kansas City, Missouri.

In that match, the Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt and Luchasaurus) will face Inner Circle members Sammy Guevara, Santana, and Ortiz.

The match was set up in last week’s tag team battle royal when Guevara grabbed Jungle Boy’s leg while he was on the ring apron, allowing Santana and Ortiz time to knock him off and eliminate him. Santana and Ortiz then joined in with other remaining wrestlers to eliminate Luchasaurus.

The AEW Revolution go-home show will also feature Kenny Omega vs. PAC in a 30-minute Ironman match, Best Friends vs. Butcher and the Blade, and an “official” weigh-in between AEW Chris Jericho and no. 1 contender Jon Moxley. It’s also expected that Cody Rhodes and MJF will have a face-to-face confrontation in order to set up their match at the February 29th pay-per-view.

AEW Women’s Champion Riho defeated Shoko Nakajima in a non-title match

Nakajima has had one match for AEW, back at Fight for the Fallen, where she pinned Riho in a tag team match. Riho has only lost two matches so far and both were tag team bouts. For the first time in a singles match, Riho had the height advantage. And that’s not because Riho is terribly tall, Nakajima is approximately 4’10.

We had a suicide dive from Nakajima early, but she managed to hook her toe on the middle rope. Thankfully Riho was standing close enough, so there was no danger and Nakajima didn’t land on her head. Nakajima later ducked out of a Tiger Feint Kick and went for one of her own. Riho went to the bottom rope to avoid it, so Nakajima gave her the kick on the bottom rope.

We got the “Boo/Yay” spot with forearms, where the crowd chanted for Riho, even though Nakajima isn’t a heel.

Nakajima kicked out of a diving foot stomp, then a series of roll-ups got each wrestler two counts. Riho moved out of the way of a senton and pinned Nakajima with double knee strikes to the face.

Jimmy Havoc defeated Sonny Kiss

Havoc hasn’t been on AEW all year so far and it’s been a while since he’s been around. The last time we saw him he was paying his fines for using his staple gun. I have to admit, this is one match I didn’t imagine AEW ever booking.

The two sportsmen exchanged holds and attempted to find out who the better grappler was. Then, ladies and gentlemen, right here on AEW Dark, we saw the biggest betrayal since Benedict Arnold sold the plans to West Point to the British. They shook hands and then Havoc punched Kiss right in the face!

After a corner dropkick, we ended up outside the ring and Kiss crashed into the barricade. Kiss got a tiny comeback and went for a chop, but Havoc moved and Kiss smacked the post. Havoc worked over the shoulder while they were outside the ring for a full two minutes and referee Aubrey Edwards made it to a four count.

Back in the ring, Havoc gave Kiss both a hip toss and a suplex into the corner.

Kiss kicked out of a rolling Death Valley Driver and then fought out of a Fujiwara armbar. He ducked the Acid Rainmaker and made a comeback. We got a one-armed belly-to-belly suplex and a cartwheel axe kick for a near fall. Kiss went for the splitting leg drop, but Havoc got his knees up and locked on a cross armbreaker for the submission win.

Dr. Luther took over the video screen at this point, calling himself the dealer. He said he loves baseball and barbed wire and then told Havoc to be ready because it will soon be time to play ball.

Hikaru Shida defeated Cassandra Golden

Golden was playing the heel during her entrance. She has several inches on Shida and on multiple occasions grabbed Shida’s hair to maintain the advantage, so Shida returned the favor.

Though she looked green at times, Golden was composed and some of her moves looked good. She hit a Vader Bomb for a two count, which nearly made her cry when Shida kicked out.

Shida rolled out of a full nelson and hit a brutal corner knee strike. She used a judo throw and a missile dropkick for another near fall, but Golden came back and dropped the big leg. Finally, Shida hit a pair of running knees for the pin.

The Dark Order (Stu Grayson & Evil Uno) defeated Jurassic Express (Marko Stunt & Jungle Boy)

The Dark Order had all their minions at ringside, while Luchasaurus did not come out with the Jurassic Express. Still no hints on who The Exhausted One…I mean The Exalted One is.

Evil Uno ran over Jungle Boy to get the heat. Jungle Boy tried to lift Uno up, but Uno raked his nails on his back. Grayson rolled him to the apron and hit a slingshot senton while Jungle Boy was on the ring apron, which is the hardest part of the ring.

Stunt got the hot tag and immediately got booted right in the face. However, the power of momentum compelled him, so he briefly ran wild before immediately tagging out to the man who was beaten on for five minutes.

Jungle Boy hit a suicide dive on Alex Reynolds and John Silver, then gave Uno a Samoan drop for a two count.

Jurassic Express got Grayson on the middle rope, so Stunt did a dive off Jungle Boy’s back, which he turned into a senton. Uno broke up the ensuing cover by giving a body slam to Stunt on top of Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy got sent to the outside and Dark Order took back over on Stunt and pinned him after hitting Fatality.

The minions jumped in the ring after the match and put the boots to Stunt. Luchasaurus decided now was the best time to come out. He took out all four of the nameless minions and then took out both Reynolds and Silver. Uno and Grayson eventually attacked Luchasaurus from behind and stomped the dinosaur into the ground.

Out ran SCU, which sent the Dark Order scattering. Christopher Daniels demanded they come in and fight, but again, they won’t do anything when it comes to attacking Daniels.

So, that does it for this week. See ya tomorrow night for Dynamite!

AEW Dark results: Jurassic Express vs. Strong Hearts six-man tag

The Big News: Jurassic Express won their second match in a row in 2020 to prepare them for their Dynamite match Wednesday with The Inner Circle.

***********************

The show started with Tony Schiavone and Dasha Gonzalez out and about to introduce the show and not in the usual arena setting. This week’s Dark is only 30 minutes long and I know they taped more matches than what was shown so we’ll see if those get aired next week, if ever.

Big Swole defeated Diamante

Taz was our Color Commentator of The Week and noted that Swole got a tattoo that said LL for Lauren Lee, a friend who she is paying tribute to in this match. Diamante was formerly with the Santana & Ortiz version of LAX in Impact and this is her debut in AEW. The two ladies reversed rollups to start the match with both trying to get quick wins. Diamante took her over with a side headlock, but Swole was able to wiggle her way out of it. Swole blocked several armdrag attempts and dropped her foe with a side kick.

Minutes later, Diamante set up for a suplex, but then decided to throw Swole down on the mat instead as hard as she could. She then hit a german suplex and a corner dropkick, but could only get a one count. Diamante grabbed flip flops from under the ring and used them briefly, but Swole put her in an abdominal stretch and spanked her after throwing the flip flops away.

Swole then picked up the win with Dirty Dancin’, which is a bit of a ripcord twisting forearm smash.

Jurassic Express defeated Strong Hearts (CIMA, El Lindaman, T-Hawk) in a six-man tag

There are weeks that Dark is unnecessarily long. Then there are weeks where they go 30 minutes, have two matches, and nothing else.

Excalibur said T-Hawk has the most vicious chops in wrestling, so Jungle Boy was the first to enjoy a plate of chops. Stunt tagged in and got backed down into the corner, but didn’t take any chops at first. Stunt and Lindaman looked good together. After Jungle Boy did a pair of suicide dives to CIMA and T-Hawk, Luchasaurus hoisted Stunt into the air and heaved him onto the duo.

In the biggest surprise since the sun went up and down today, they got the heat on Stunt. I know there is a lot of criticism about Stunt and even more criticism when people get too complimentary, but he takes an amazing beating. He did eventually make the hot tag to Luchasaurus. The first thing he did was give Lindaman a headbutt to the chest, which was hilarious since Luchasaurus had to duck about a foot in order to do it.

Jungle Boy tagged in and ran wild for a few minutes, but got cut off by CIMA and almost pinned by Lindaman. However, it was not a good day for the Strong Hearts as Jungle Boy pinned Lindaman after a double team back suplex/sit out power bomb.

Jurassic Express is on a winning streak!

Final Thoughts: It was a quick show and easy to watch. Both matches were enjoyable, but aren’t going to appear on anyone’s end of year ballots.

VIDEO: AEW Dark episode 16 – Jurassic Express in action

Two matches have been announced for tonight’s episode of AEW Dark, which you can see below:

Taz, who has done announcing work for AEW Dark in the past, will be a part of the broadcast team for this week’s episode. He recently signed a multi-year deal with the company.

Big Swole is set to face Dinamate. The former Impact wrestler is also a former member of LAX, along with Santana and Ortiz. Swole is under AEW contract but Dinamate currently isn’t.

Stronghearts (CIMA, El Lindaman & T-Hawk) will also return to action, taking on the Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt). The latter team will be in action on tomorrow’s edition of Dynamite when they take on the team of Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz.

Tomorrow’s episode of Dynamite will consist of footage taken during Chris Jericho’s cruise. MJF will take on Joey Janela, while Britt Baker will face Priscilla Kelly.

A number one contender’s bout is also set. The winner of a match between PAC and Jon Moxley will get the next AEW World title shot.

The cruise will also tape matches for next week’s AEW Dark.
