A week after regaining the AEW Women’s title, Hikaru Shida will defend the championship against Anna Jay on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.
Shida defeated Toni Storm this past Wednesday on Dynamite to kick off her second reign with the title. Shida and Jay first wrestled back at the pandemic tapings in Norcross, Georgia, in April 2020. When Shida was champion later that year, she successfully defended the title against Jay.
After Matt Menard demanded it Wednesday, the Jericho Appreciation Society will officially have a mandatory meeting. Chris Jericho & Konosuke Takeshita defeated Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia Wednesday after Don Callis hit Garcia with a bat, leading to a Jericho pin. Because of that, the group will meet in an attempt to air out their issues.
Here’s the current card that is set for Columbus, Ohio:
AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida defends against Anna Jay
Jericho Appreciation Society mandatory meeting
The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)
MJF & Adam Cole appearance
Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli) vs. Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix)
FTW Champion Jack Perry defends against Rob Van Dam
It’s Monday and you know what that means: an four-match episode of AEW Dark Elevation from Long Island, New York, with Paul Wight and Matt Menard on the call.
Maki Itoh defeated Ashley D’Amboise
Itoh made her way to the ring singing as she always does. I think she might have showed the most charisma out of anyone tonight. She flicked off D’Amboise and started driving her right hand into her head. The whole match was just Itoh going for her headbutt off the ropes and D’Amboise avoiding it. Itoh finally hit it and locked in a single-leg Boston crab which she converted into a Texas Cloverleaf to win the match.
Jericho Appreciation Society (Angelo Parker, Jake Hager & Matt Menard) defeated Jack Tomlinson, Mike Magnum & Zack Clayton
Menard exited the desk area and walked over to meet his teammates, immediately starting off the match with Tomlinson. The JAS kept mocking the other team with Parker proclaiming he has the best hair in the business and then slapping Magnum around. Tomlinson entered with Magnum and tried to take on Hager by themselves. Not only did it not work, but referee Aubrey Edwards let it happen.
Clayton was not impressed so he got in the ring and clotheslined both his teammates. He hopped out of the ring and the former 2point0 hit the double DDT onto Tomlinson to get the win.
Hardy Party (Isiah Kassidy & Matt Hardy) defeated Bobby Orlando & Brett Gosselin
Of course, there was no Ethan Page with Hardy and Kassidy this week after the recent split. Hardy grabbed a mic and led the crowd in a “delete” chant followed by Kassidy moaning.
Orlando (from Beyond Wrestling and other Northeast indies) started with Kassidy, but most of the moves were of the double-team variety that included Hardy. Gosselin tried to get involved, but they rid of him quickly. Hardy got the tag and hit the Deletes in the corner and a Side Effect. This set up the swanton bomb and win by Kassidy, surely intentional with the return of Jeff Hardy even though he returned after this was taped.
Emi Sakura defeated Mizuki
Mizuki, like Itoh, is from Japan’s TJPW. I actually saw this exact same match in Raleigh at DPW last year. This was obviously not as good as that one, but still fun.
Mizuki was just a Sakura punching bag for the start of this match. Mizuki finally ducked a chop and rolled her up for a near fall. Mizuki followed with a double stomp to the outside, but Sakura countered with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.
After Mizuki hit another double stomp, they went back in the ring and went back and forth for a little bit until Mizuki tried to roll up Sakura, which she countered with her own roll-up for the win.
Monday’s show will feature four matches taped on April 5, 2023, from the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
Maki Itoh will face Ashley D’Amboise on this week’s episode. D’Amboise is coming off a loss to Athena in a proving grounds match on ROH TV last week. For Itoh, this was her first match in AEW this year. She’s back in Japan now and wrestled on a TJPW show this weekend. Also on that TJPW show was Princess of Princess Champion Mizuki, who will face Emi Sakura in her AEW debut on Dark: Elevation tonight.
Matches involving The Jericho Appreciation Society, Matt Hardy & Isiah Kassidy are also scheduled to air.
AEW Dark: Elevation 4/17 lineup:
The Jericho Appreciation Society (Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, & Jake Hager) vs. Mike Magnum, Jack Tomlinson, and “The Reality” Zack Clayton
Emi Sakura vs. Mizuki
Matt Hardy & Isiah Kassidy vs. Brett Gosselin & Bobby Orlando
Chris Jericho and the Jericho Appreciation Society will speak on next week’s Dynamite.
It was announced on Friday’s Rampage that members of the Jericho Appreciation Society will speak after the events that took place on last week’s Dynamite. In the opening contest, Ricky Starks pinned Chris Jericho.
After the match, however, members of the Jericho Appreciation Society attacked Starks. Action Andretti, who was laid out with a fireball by Jericho on a recent episode of Dynamite, ran to the ring with a chair. However, the numbers game came into play and soon both were laid out. The segment ended with the group giving Starks a powerbomb off the apron and onto a table on the outside.
Here is the updated card for Wednesday’s show in Los Angeles:
Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page
Toni Storm & Saraya vs. Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker
Bryan Danielson vs. Konosuke Takeshita
Big Bill & Lee Moriarty vs. Jungle Boy & Hook
The Elite vs. Death Triangle in a ladder match for the AEW Trios titles

Two key members of the Jericho Appreciation Society have also been appreciated by AEW as 2point0 (Angelo Parker and Matt Menard) have signed contract extensions.
Fightful first reported the news Friday. No terms were disclosed.
After the former Ever-Rise in WWE NXT were released in the summer of 2021 less than two weeks after signing new deals, the two made their AEW debut in early August in a trios match with Daniel Garcia. The announcement of their full-time deals came shortly after.
The two became part of Chris Jericho’s new JAS faction in March after Jericho turned on Santana & Ortiz to officially end the Inner Circle.
Menard hasn’t been in action since June’s Blood & Guts cage match, but recently did some commentary on Dark. He revealed that he suffered a torn labrum, rotator cuff and partial shoulder tear in the match.
Parker has wrestled just twice since then, once in a July Dark match and on a Canadian indie show in August.
A stipulation has been added to the Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta & Shota Umino vs. Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki match at Forbidden Door.
It was revealed on AEW Rampage on Friday that the winning team will gain the man-advantage for their side in the Blood & Guts match on Dynamite.
Blood & Guts will follow similar rules to a traditional War Games match with two wrestlers starting and then further participants entering at staggered intervals. This year’s match will also see six wrestlers on each team.
The Jericho Appreciation Society team will consist of Jericho, Guevara, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker and Matt Menard. They will face the team of Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and the mystery wrestler that Bryan Danielson has selected to face Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door.
Danielson has been out of action since the Anarchy In The Arena match at Double or Nothing with an undisclosed injury. There’s no timetable for his return.
The Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite is set for AEW’s debut in Detroit, Michigan. As of now, no other matches have been announced.

The return of Blood and Guts is happening later this month.
AEW announced that a special edition of Dynamite, Blood and Guts, is set to take place on June 29 in Detroit, Michigan. This follows an angle during tonight’s Dynamite that saw Chris Jericho accept a Blood and Guts challenge on behalf of the Jericho Appreciation Society from William Regal and Eddie Kingston.
Jericho appeared during tonight’s show, highlighting himself and the Jericho Appreciation Society winning the Anarchy at the Arena match at Double or Nothing this past Sunday. Kingston arrived with Regal, with Regal dropping the term “blood and guts”.
Jericho initially rejected the challenge. However, after Ortiz ran into the ring and managed to snip off a lock of Jericho’s hair, Jericho accepted. Jericho, however, said he wanted something in return. He wanted a hair match against Ortiz that was later confirmed for AEW Road Rager on June 15 in St. Louis, Missouri.
After Jon Moxley defeated Daniel Garcia on tonight’s Dynamite, he said he wanted in the Blood and Guts match as well.
The first and so far only Blood and Guts match took place on the May 5, 2021 edition of Dynamite. In the match, The Pinnacle (MJF, Wardlow, Shawn Spears, and FTR) defeated The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Santana, and Ortiz).

AEW’s Blackpool Combat Club could have looked slightly different had it not been for Chris Jericho.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that there was talk of Garcia joining the faction at one point after Bryan Danielson first mentioned the possibility of a superteam with Jon Moxley.
During that Dynamite promo, Danielson also mentioned Wheeler Yuta and Lee Moriarty. Yuta was inducted following his loss to Moxley on the April 8th Rampage while Moriarty is still aligned with Matt Sydal.
Meltzer said that “Chris Jericho personally picked Garcia to join the Jericho Appreciation Society,” negating his inclusion in the BCC.
Jericho’s new group was formed in the weeks following Revolution as part of the dissolvement of the Inner Circle with Santana, Ortiz, Jake Hager and Sammy Guevara. Hager came with him, along with Garcia and the former 2point0 with the faction focusing on being sports entertainers vs. pro wrestlers.
Happy Wednesday! Join on-camera personality Denise Salcedo as she reviews the April 13th edition of AEW Dynamite. This was a loaded episode where there is plenty to talk about including CM Punk vs. Penta Oscuro, Minoru Suzuki vs. Samoa Joe, the debut of Satnam Singh, plus lots more! Tune in for a fun and honest review!
A segment featuring AEW’s newest faction has been added to this week’s Dynamite.
Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite will feature the “Jericho Appreciation Society commencement.” The group, which formed last week, consists of Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, 2point0 (Matt Lee & Jeff Parker), and Daniel Garcia.
Jericho and Hager turned against their former Inner Circle stablemates Santana and Ortiz last week and joined 2point0 and Garcia in beating down Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz.
The turn came after Jericho lost to Kingston at Revolution.
This Wednesday’s Dynamite is a special St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of the show. It’s taking place in San Antonio, Texas and is being headlined by Thunder Rosa challenging for Britt Baker’s AEW Women’s World Championship in a steel cage match.
The updated lineup for the episode is listed below:
Steel cage match: AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. defends against Thunder Rosa
TNT Champion Scorpio Sky defends against Wardlow
AEW World Champion Hangman Page & AEW Tag Team Champions Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus vs. Adam Cole, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly
Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson (w/ William Regal) vs. Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta (w/ Orange Cassidy and Danhausen)
Chris Jericho formed the “Jericho Appreciation Society” on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, turning on Inner Circle stablemates Santana and Ortiz.
Jericho turned on Santana, Ortiz, and Eddie Kingston after he attacked them with a baseball bat, joining forces with 2point0 and Daniel Garcia who originally attacked Jericho and Kingston. After they powerbombed Kingston through a table, Jericho announced the formation of the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Tonight’s episode of Dynamite opened with Jericho asking Eddie Kingston to come out, seemingly remorseful for not shaking Kingston’s hand like he said he would after Kingston defeated him at Revolution. After the two exchanged words, they shook hands. 2point0 and Daniel Garcia then arrived, attacking Jericho and Kingston. Santana and Ortiz came for the save and set up one of 2point0 to be attacked with Jericho’s baseball bat. However, Jericho instead attacked Santana and Ortiz with the bat. When Jake Hager ran in, he sided with Jericho, attacking Santana, Ortiz, and Kingston.
Dissension had formed between Jericho and Inner Circle members Santana and Ortiz in recent weeks. It eventually led to a match, where Ortiz and Santana defeated Jericho and Hager in a tag team match on the February 16 edition of Dynamite.
