BVV: TNA Impact with Masha-Kelly chain match

In a week focused more on promos than in-ring action, it was two former partners battling for the Knockouts title that stole the show. Masha Slamovich vs. Killer Kelly wasn’t pretty, but it was intense, physical, and dramatic, with a championship at stake.

The rest of the show was filled with short matches, promos, and angles building to Slammiversary on July 20, including a confrontation between Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali; Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence from NXT making their presence known; Matt Cardona continuing to cause problems for the System; the Home Town Man being attacked and unmasked backstage; an incredibly great Leon Slater personality video; Steve Maclin finding two challengers for the International championship; Nic Nemeth meeting Zachary Wentz in a fun but meaningless battle; and much-hyped King’s Speech segment with Frankie Kazarian stirring the pot for Slammiversary main eventers Trick Williams, Joe Hendry, and Mike Santana. Come join the fun in the Big Vinny V Show!

BVV: Twice the Impact on the road to TNA Slammiversary

It’s two, two, two reviews for the price of one on the Big Vinny V Show with Vince Verhei.

I cover two weeks of TNA Impact TV covering the build to Slammiversary, one of the company’s biggest shows of the year.

I start with the June 19th show which had a lot of bad wrestling capped off by a good main event — a Champions Challenge 10-man tag — with a mind-boggling finish.

Then, I jump into the June 26th episode where several Slammiversary matches were announced, a great build for Leon Slater and Mike Santana, and a not-so-great build for Joe Hendry and Ash by Elegance.

The common theme between both episodes: Trick Williams is the absolute man.

I’ll discuss that and more on an all-new Big Vinny V Show!

BVV: TNA Impact with Hardys vs. Fir$t Cla$$

With Against All Odds over and Slammiversary still weeks away, TNA put out an episode of Impact that wasn’t too exciting.

The Hardys take on Fir$t Cla$$ in the main event in a match that failed to produce a challenger for the tag titles. The IInspiration have their first match in the company in several years. Trick Williams celebrates in the Fir$t Cla$$ penthouse. Jason Hotch battles Leon Slater in a match that needed more time, and the Knockouts division does a stupid 8-4-1 match to name a top contender, who ends up winning in an unconvincing fashion. We’ll try to make it entertaining on the latest Big Vinny V Show!

BVV: The Trick-NA era of Impact begins

Trick Williams is the new TNA champion, and the crew on Impact reacts to this fresh news on a stale show that was taped weeks ahead of time. We’ll see how awkward things can get as they pretend this all happened in chronological order.

We’ll also look at just how long Trick’s reign may last, and who might be next to challenge him if he’s still champ after Tuesday night. Meanwhile, TNA has another app special this Friday, so they need challengers not just for the World title, but for the X Division, Tag Team, and Knockout titles as well. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s jump right in with the latest Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact with Moose vs. Zachary Wentz

Maybe the best wrestling TV show of the week was highlighted by an outstanding X Division championship match. Zachary Wentz finally gets the title shot he earned way back in September and he and Moose stole the show.

Elsewhere, Joe Hendry and the Hardys show that they are still the biggest stars in the company, Mike Santana makes his championship aspirations known, the war between Steve Maclin and Eric Young intensifies, there’s some stuff with Cody Deaner, and Maggie Lee and Leon Slater pick up some wins. We’ll explain it all on the Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: TNA continues to ignore Unbreakable

Three weeks away from their next app special, TNA has announced no names, no matches, no special appearances…but they are booking things for Rebellion, their pay per view event that happens 10 days later. On pro wrestling’s biggest week, in America’s most entertaining city, they have given you no reason to attend Unbreakable when you could be going to Bloodsport, or Prestige Wrestling, or Cirque du Soleil, or Spearmint Rhino. Oh well.

At least there was lots of good wrestling on Impact this week, thanks to Nic Nemeth, Leon Slater, Eric Young, Ace Austin, and—yes—Chavo Guerrero Jr. We’ll get into the details on the Big Vinny V Show.

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact with build for…NXT Roadblock?

Eight days out from TNA’s next app special, the best segment on Impact was spent hyping up a big show for another promotion.

The face-to-face confrontation between NXT champion Oba Femi and TNA X-Division champion Moose, the two combatants in the main event of NXT’s Roadblock, stole the show this week. So what about TNA Sacrifice? Well, the presumed main event—the ladder match between Moose and Jeff Hardy—was virtually ignored. The participants in the 10-man tag were finalized, and a stip was added. Masha Slamovich’s title defense against Cora Jade was pushed, assuming Jade will be medically cleared to compete by then. And the NXT trio of Wes Lee, Tyson Dupont, and Tyriek Igwe continue to ruin the days of Ace Austin and the Rascalz.

Elsewhere, Savannah Evans battles Xia Brookside, the Elegance brand spends more time as the personal servants of Spitfire, Eric Young tries again to earn the trust of Steve Maclin, Mike Santana poisons Mustafa Ali, and the Colons wrestle the Hardys in a main event that, technically, happened. We’ll explain on the latest Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact with build for Sacrifice

The build for TNA’s next app special includes a lot of company veterans, a few new faces, and plenty of guest stars from NXT.

That starts with Moose, who now has a challenge to NXT champion Oba Femi and a ladder match for the X Division title against Jeff Hardy on his plate. Elsewhere, Joe Hendry finds Elijah extremely sus, Mike Santana battles NXT’s Oro Mensah then faces harassment from Mustafa Ali, Tessa Blanchard finally wrestles, Steve Maclin faces KC Navarro with The Northern Armory lurking in the shadows, Spitfire battles the By Elegance brand with the Knockouts tag titles and 24 hours of concierge duty on the line, Frankie Kazarian and Ace Austin meet to see whose wheels are spinning most furiously, and a multi-person TV main event sets up an even bigger multi-person main event at Sacrifice. We’ll break it down on the latest Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact with lots of new names

The power is out in North Bend but we’re going to barrel on through!

That means it’s time to review TNA Impact, where a bunch of new names made their debuts and jumped right into the main event. Elijah (fka The Drifter, fka Elias, fka Ezekiel) teams up with Joe Hendry, first in concert then in the ring where they take on Eddie and Orlando Colon (fka Primo and Epico, fka Los Matadores, etc.)

Elsewhere, Dupont & Igwe from NXT face the Rascalz; Fir$t Cla$$ introduces their new interview segment by interviewing themselves and their friends, Rosemary faces Lei Ying Lee, Eric Young and the Northern Armory explain their actions, Mustafa Ali uncomfortably crashes Mike Santana’s meeting, JDC battles Leon Slater in a hell of a no-DQ match, Tessa Blanchard does not wrestle but Masha Slamovich does, and the latest developments in the wacky world of Ryan Nemeth. Big Vinny V: TNA Impact with Fraxiom vs. Nemeth Bros.

NXT Tag Team champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom were one of the best duos in the world last year. What happens when they defend their belts against multiple-time world champion Nic Nemeth? Oh, and his brother too.

Six-woman tag match, Tessa Blanchard segment set for live TNA Impact

A couple of new announcements have been made for this Thursday’s live edition of TNA Impact.

We’ll hear from Tessa Blanchard following her victory over Jordynne Grace at TNA’s Genesis pay-per-view. Plus, TNA has announced a six-woman tag match for the episode. It will be Masha Slamovich, Dani Luna & Jody Threat vs. Rosemary, Ash By Elegance & Heather By Elegance.

Genesis was Blanchard’s first match for TNA since returning to the promotion. Grace — who is expected to be joining WWE — finished up with TNA at the PPV.

Slamovich is the current TNA Knockouts World Champion and Luna & Threat are the Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They retained at Genesis with respective victories over their opponents for this six-woman tag match. Slamovich defeated Rosemary in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match, while Luna & Threat defeated Ash & Heather By Elegance.

A Knockouts title match between Slamovich and NXT star Cora Jade looks to be in the works but has not been confirmed yet. Jade made a surprise appearance at Genesis on Sunday night, confronting Slamovich.

**********

An appearance by the new TNA World Champion will take place live on Impact this week.

This Thursday night, TNA is presenting a special live episode of Impact from the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas. It’s been confirmed that TNA World Champion Joe Hendry will be appearing on the show. We’ll hear from Hendry on TV for the first time since he defeated Nic Nemeth to win the title.

Hendry won the championship from Nemeth in the main event of TNA’s Genesis pay-per-view on Sunday night. We’ll see if Hendry’s first challenger emerges on Impact. Frankie Kazarian teased cashing in his Call Your Shot trophy during the Genesis main event but was laid out by JBL before he could.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio after Genesis, Hendry named an unlikely opponent — John Cena — as the number one person he would like to defend his title against.

This is the first live edition of Impact in several years.

With the partnership that exists between WWE and TNA, Thursday’s episode will also feature an NXT Tag Team title match with Nathan Frazer & Axiom defending against The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz).

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact review with lots of talking

Somebody at TNA Wrestling decided it would be a good idea to keep the wrestling to a minimum on a two-hour TV wrestling show. Your full card for this past Thursday’s TNA Impact was Ryan Nemeth vs. Rhino, Ace Austin vs. KUSHIDA, and an eight-woman Knockouts tag team match.

Yes, that was it.

In between, we have a Joe Hendry promo, a Jordynne Grace promo, a Rascalz promo, a Moose promo, a Kazarian promo, a Nic Nemeth promo, and several minutes of a random eight-year-old tag match.

We will try to make it exciting on a brand new Big Vinny V Show!
