Ryan Nemeth takes apparent shot at CM Punk over ‘PEDs’

On social media today, Ryan Nemeth took an apparent shot at CM Punk, who he’s had issues with since the two were part of the AEW roster.

Nemeth is now with TNA Wrestling and Punk is back in WWE. But, at least on Nemeth’s side, bad blood between them seems to still exist. He sent out a tweet today making fun of “straight edge guys” who won’t take any substances except for performance-enhancing drugs. He did not name Punk in the tweet or make a direct accusation at him, but the post comes shortly after gym footage of Punk having an improved physique got a lot of attention online.

“I love that straight edge guys are like NOTHING! IS! EVER! GOING! IN! MY! BODY! EVER!,” Nemeth wrote. “Except PEDs which I will be putting in my body actually very often now because I do steroids, but of course that does not break my sacred vow. I am more disciplined than you :)”

While with AEW, Nemeth claims he was threatened by Punk and effectively banned from appearing on Collision. The matter led to Nemeth filing a lawsuit against Punk and AEW that has been moved to private arbitration after AEW filed its own countersuit.

The issues between Nemeth and Punk concern a 2023 tweet where Nemeth called Punk “literally the softest man alive,” which Nemeth claims was in character.

CM Punk’s WWE schedule —

Since the Raw after WrestleMania 42, Punk has been away from WWE programming due to a schedule change. He dropped the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania and is said to be awaiting his next storyline. Instead of continuing the Reigns vs. Punk feud, WWE moved Jacob Fatu to Raw and began a title program between him and Reigns.

Five matches and one segment are advertised.

TNA World Champion Mike Santana and X-Division Champion Leon Slater will team up to take on Ryan Nemeth and Nic Nemeth.

We will have a face-to-face segment with Ash By Elegance and Mickie James.

We will hear from Steve Maclin on the show.

In the Knockouts division, Dani Luna will wrestle Lei Ying Lee. This had originally been planned as a Lee title defense against Luna on the AXS TV debut. However, visa issues prevented Luna from making it to the show.

In singles action, AJ Francis faces Mance Warner, who will have Steph De Lander in his corner.

Tasha Steelz of Order 4 will wrestle Jada Stone.

Our live coverage begins at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Taped! from the Pinnacle in Nashville, TN..

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

For a guy who got fired a month ago Steve Maclin has been hanging around this show a lot.

Mike Santana & Leon Slater v. Nic & Ryan Nemeth

Frankie Kazarian joined the commentary team for the opener. Slater took out both the Nemeth brothers early on with a dive on the floor. In the ring, Santana hit Nic with a back elbow in the corner. Ryan tried to cheap shot Santana with a knee, which allowed Nick to hit Santana with a superkick.

Nic distracted the referee so Ryan could choke out Santana with a tag rope. Nic dropped a big elbow for a near fall. Santana tried to brawl his way out of the heel corner, but Nic put him down with a kick to the knee. Ryan slapped on a chinlock as the show headed into a commercial.

Santana escaped the chinlock and dropped Ryan with a rolling stunner. Tags were made on both sides, and Slater dropped Nemeth with a kick. Slater came off the top with a crossover crossbody for a near fall. Nic backdropped Slater to the floor. The Nemeths countered the rolling stunner with a back suplex/neckbreaker cover for a near fall.

Santana took out Ryan with an enziguri and hit Nic with a boot. Slater got the tag and Nemeth hit him with the Famouser for a near fall. They showed Ryan’s girlfriend in the crowd (and unfortunately the crowd looked bored). Nic and Staler fought up to the top, where Slater pushed Nic off. As Slater was setting up a dive, Eric Young ran in to distract Slater. Santana ran interference to hold off Young. Slater went for the 450 on Nic, but Nic got his knees up, and rolled up Slater for the pin.

Match Result: The Nemeths won when Nic pinned Slater (11:05 aired).

This finish annoyed me at first, but it set up Nic v. Slater for the X Division title on next week’s show. So hopefully Slater is getting a victory in a singles match.

— Gia Miller interviewed Vincent and Dutch who talked about brotherhood and trust with the Hardys.

Dani Luna v. Lei Ying Lee (w/ Xia Brookside)

Lee took Luna down with a leg sweep and followed that up with knee to the face and a dropkick. Luna pulled Lee out of the corner going for a powerbomb, then turned that into a sort-of hot shot move between the middle and top ropes.

Luna hit an exploder suplex, then wrenched away at Lee’s neck. Luna viciously dumped Lee to the mat for a near fall. Lee countered a suplex with a small package for a near fall. Lee locked Luna in a guillotine choke, but Luna countered that with a suplex for a near fall.

Luna dropped to the floor and pulled out a steel chain from under the ring. Luna wrapped the chain around the top turnbuckle. Luna tried to send Lee into the turnbuckles, but she blocked that and came back with a series of kicks and strikes. Lee hit Luna with a superkick, then reigned down with punches in the corner.

Lee hit an exploder suplex for a near fall. Lee missed a charge in the corner, and Luna hit a slingshot blue thunder bomb for two. Lee came back and went for a kick, but Luna ducked and locked in a sleeper. Lee escaped and went for a roll up, but Luna kicked out and sent her face first into the chains that she set up five minutes ago. Why isn’t that a disqualification? Why didn’t the ref get rid of those chains? Then Luna hit the Luna Landing and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Luna pinned Lee (10:13)

— Alisha Edwards was ready to reject a new contract from Tommy Dreamer and Carlos Silva until Moose showed up. Moose told Alisha she wasn’t just the first lady of the System, but she was the first lady of TNA. Moose asked Alisha to be her manager and she (all too easily) changed her mind, and signed the contract.

AJ Francis v. Mance Warner (w/ Steph DeLander)

Francis’ gear was inspired by the African-American Flag for Black History Month. DeLander wore a Predators jersey to suck up to the Nashville crowd.

This brawl started outside the ring. Warner tried to piledrive Francis on the stairs, but Francis blocked it, then slammed Warner from the stairs to the floor. Back in the ring, Francis choked Warner against the ropes. Francis hit a running knee and went over the ropes, landed on his feet and flirted with DeLander on the floor. She was not receptive.

Back in the ring, Warner mounted a comeback and poked Francis in the eyes. A short bulldog got Warner a near fall. Warner charged into a spear from Francis, but kicked out at two. Francis went to the floor and grabbed a chair. DeLander grabbed the chair, and got into a tug of war with Francis over the chair. Eventually the chair went flying into Warner’s hands, who had no problem using it as a weapon.

Match Result: Francis won via disqualification (4:25).

This feud will continue.

The TNA Injury Report:

  • Mustafa Ali is not cleared after the casket match.
  • Jody Threat is also not cleared after a 3-on-1 beatdown last week.
  • Leon Slater is being evaluated.

Hardcore Country Elegance

Mickie James called out Ash by Elegance. The Concierge came out to introduce Ash, but James sent him to the back because she wasn’t “here for the nonsense.” Not sure she’s in the right place then. Anyway, Ash came out. Mickie James had called Tommy Dreamer on Ash’s behalf to get her job in TNA after she was cut by WWE. But Ash knows she was the hottest free agent when she was released, and didn’t need James to grease the wheels to get her a job. James asked if Ash was “a mark” for starting “twitter beef” with other former Knockouts World Championship. James told Ash she was disgracing the Knockouts World Title that she abandoned (which James also had to relinquish due to injuries). Ash was just shouting for heat. I guess its working for the crowd but it’s not working for me. She’s shouting insults but saying nothing.

This devolved into a shoving match, but before it could really get physical, the other members of the Elegance Brand were shown intimidating Mickie’s son in the back. James ran to the back, but M by Elegance leveled her from behind the curtain with a forearm. The rest of the Elegance Brand joined in on the beating, which ended with Ash diving Mickie a Mick-DT.

I’m now less interested in the impending Ash/James match than I was last week. I really like Mickie and was into Ash’s comeback story.

— In the back, Jody Threat was allegedly laid out by Tessa Blanchard and her crew. Naturally, this leads to an argument between Daria Rae and Santino Marella about how Santino has no control over the show.

Jada Stone v. Tasha Steelz (w/ The Great Hands)

Steelz nailed Stone with a clothesline before the bell. Stone came back with a shotgun dropkick, and Steelz dropped to the floor to regroup. Stone wiped out Steelz and the Great Hands with a moonsault off the apron. Steelz suplexed Stone on the floor.

Back in the ring, Stone hit a superkick and a slingblade for a near fall. Stone hit a handspring into the ropes, but Steelz snatched her out of the hair with German suplex. Steelz went for a cutter, but Stone blocked it with a handstand, then rolled up Steelz for the shock pin.

Match Result: Stone pinned Steelz (5:47)

After the match, the Great Hands tossed Stone back into the ring, and Steelz hit her with a cutter.

Steve Maclin’s Side of the Story

Tom Hannifan brought out Steve Maclin, flanked by security to address the TNA crowd and explain his actions. And the crowd just completely hijacked this segment.

The crowd chanted “you don’t work here!” at Maclin.  Hannifan asked Maclin to explain why he was attacking Santana. The crowd chanted “we dont care!” while Maclin tried to explain himself. The crowd was pretty brutal, chanting “leave!” and “you’re a liar!” They even booed him for being a marine before switching to a “USA!” chant. Then the crowd hit him with the “what?” chants and Maclin was visibly frustrated.

But it boiled down to this: Maclin was mad at Santana for leaving him hanging in the tag match at Turning Point. Santana tried to justify it by telling Maclin he was “going through some things and had to catch a meeting.” Clearly tired of all this, the crowd chanted “wrap it up!” Maclin took credit for Hannifan having a job in TNA, which caused the crowd to chant “he’s still working!” Hannifan actually got the crowd to calm down a bit. Hannifan asked Maclin how many times he’s been fined by TNA for “the same things” over and over, and asked if he would ever take responsibility for his own actions.

So Maclin leveled Hannifan with a punch to the gut.

Santana ran through the crowd to make the save, but Maclin dropped out of the ring, and shoved Rehwoldt down to the ground on his way out.

Next week on Impact:

  • Sinner/Saint v. The Righteous v. Rich Swann/BDE v. The System
  • Arianna Grace v. Jody Threat for the Knockouts Title
  • Nic Nemeth v. Leon Slater for the X Division Title

— Gia Miller replaced Hannifan on commentary for the main event.

The System (Bear Bronson, Cedric Alexander, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards) v. The Hardys & The Righteous

The Hardys and the Righteous worked well together early in the match. The Hardys double teamed Myers with a slingshot/legdrop combo. Alexander got the tag and Matt dropped a leg on him for a near fall.

Bear Bronson tagged in to square off against Dutch in a hoss fight. Dutch dumped Bronson to the mat with an exploder, and Vincent tagged in to hit Poetry in Motion. Bronson hit Vincent with a choke bomb for a near fall.

Vincent has made a very good babyface in peril in these tag matches. Myers floored Vincent with a running knee. Bronson dropped an elbow off the middle rope for a near fall. Alexander dumped Vincent with a German suplex. Vincent fought his way out of the heel corner and took out Alexander with a leg sweep before getting the tag to Matt Hardy.

Matt hit Edwards with a hangman’s neckbreaker and DDT Alexander at the same time. Matt hit a Side Effect on Edwards for a near fall. It was “hit a move, take a move” time, with everyone hitting a hot move, then taking one from a different opponent. Matt went for the Twist of Fate on Edwards, but Edwards pushed off and Vincent got the tag. Edwards set up Matt for the Boston Knee Party, but Vincent shoved Matt out of the way and took the bullet.

Match Result: The System won when Edwards pinned Vincent after the Boston Knee Party (11:24 aired).

After the match, Moose tried to take on the System 4-on-1. He was overwhelmed until Alisha Edwards got between Moose and the System.

TNA Impact Thanksgiving special results: The Ryan Nemeth show

TNA Wrestling’s weekly edition of Impact was a Thanksgiving special, headlined by the annual Turkey Bowl match where the loser must don a turkey suit.

Next week’s show will get back to more “in continuity.” This week’s show was hosted by Tom Hannifan who was in a control room setting to throw it to never before seen segments and matches…and a segment from 2007.

Mance Warner vs. Eric Young vs. Trey Miguel vs. Home Town Man vs. Ryan Nemeth vs. Brian Myers in a Turkey Bowl match

Gia Miller and Tom Hannifan were on the call.

Ryan Nemeth snuck in the ring after hiding for the majority of the match and went after Brian Myers only to get hit with a Roster Cut and a pinfall. Nemeth tried to escape instead of putting on the suit but got hit with a Sliced Bread from HTM. Miguel, Myers and HTM then put the woozy Nemeth in the suit who eventually woke up and was extremely embarrassed.

Match Result: Brian Myers won the annual Turkey Bowl match

-They featured another Mr. Elegance search promo from The Elegance Brand.

Leon Slater & Mike Santana vs. Trick Williams & Mustafa Ali

Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt were on the call.

This match was from September 2025 during the Minneapolis, Minnesota, tapings. Williams was still TNA World Champion at the time. Santana was about to hit Ali with the Spin the Block when Order 4 interfered for the DQ.

The beatdown continued afterward with Order 4 attacking Santana as Williams took off. Ali was about to put Santana through a table when Slater hit a Terminator Dive on all of Order 4 and gave Ali to Santana. Santana was about to hit a Razor’s Edge on Ali through a table when Order 4 grabbed him before it could happen.

Slater and Santana then got one of the Order 4 stooges and put him through a table instead.

Match Result: Leon Slater & Mike Santana defeated Trick Williams & Mustafa Ali by DQ

Ryan Nemeth vs. Krampus

Hannifan and Miller were on the call.

This was billed as a Christmas vs. Thanksgiving match which is a sentence I just wrote. Nemeth got the win after thumbing Krampus in the eye and getting a roll-up with tights for the win.

Match Results: Ryan Nemeth defeated Krampus

-They had an emotional Lei Ying Lee promo following her TNA Knockouts title win this past Tuesday.

Jeff Hardy & Joe Hendry concert

This was an off-air segment from this past July in Kingston, Rhode Island. Hendry came out first with a guitar. He sang his song and then said Jeff Hardy’s name and out he came in full face paint. Hendry put over The Hardys and then Hardy sang his “Modest” theme song while Hendry played guitar.

Hendry and Hardy then played and sang Creed’s “My Sacrifice” which fans remember as a song used in a classic WWE Hardy promo. Fans were lighting up their phones, but there weren’t a ton of them there and the amount of empty seats were pretty obvious.

The Nemeth Brothers then made their appearance, marking the third time Ryan had been on this special. As you might expect, they insulted Hardy and Hendry and Ryan insisted he sing a song he wrote for his big brother. That didn’t get going as Hardy and Hendry took out the heels to send them packing.

-They played an Ash by Elegance segment from their Immersed feature on her.

-They played a November 2007 segment with everyone having a Thanksgiving feast. This was something to behold with then-TNA World Champion Kurt Angle, Jay Lethal in his Black Machismo gimmick, Jeremy Borash, Sonjay Dutt, So Cal Val, Dustin Rhodes, Karen (then Angle) Jarrett, Chris Harris, James Storm, Team 3D, and others. As you might expect, a food fight broke out.

Ryan Nemeth, Jake Something & First Class vs. Leon Slater, Moose, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards

Rehwoldt and Hannifan were on the call.

Yes, fans: Ryan Nemeth made a FOURTH appearance on this two-hour special. That’s nearly Don Callis territory.

The end came when Myers got the hot tag to Slater who ran wild on the turkey suit-clad Nemeth. He hit his big high crossbody, but everyone ran in to break it up.

Nemeth nearly had Slater pinned with a roll-up and handful of tights, but Slater kicked out, hit a leg lariat and then finished Nemeth off with his swanton 450.

Match Result: Leon Slater, Moose, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards defeated Ryan Nemeth, Jake Something & First Class (AJ Francis and Rich Swann)

BVV: TNA Impact recap with Nemeths vs. Hardys tag title match

Tuesday means a new Big Vinny V Show and another TNA Impact recap.

The main event last Thursday saw Nic & Ryan Nemeth getting their TNA Tag Team title rematch against the Hardy Boys with Matt Cardona making a cameo appearance.

Elsewhere, Brian Myers battled Mustafa Ali as things heated up between The System and Order 4; Judas Icarus stealing the show in a very fun match against Eric Young; Victoria Crawford continuing to be crazy; the IInspiration teaming with Masha Slamovich against the By Elegance brand; Frankie Kazarian hosting the King’s Speech with the return of Mr. Anderson; Dani Luna squaring off against Indi Hartwell; Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside formally annoucing their tag team name; and Mike Santana destroying a jobber but then gets destroyed by an invader from NXT.

All this and more on the new Big Vinny V Show with me, Vince Verhei

TNA reveals Matt Hardy’s partner for Under Siege Tag Team title match

Matt Hardy has found a partner for his Tag Team title challenge at TNA Under Siege.

At the TNA+ special, Hardy will team up with Leon Slater against champions Nic & Ryan Nemeth. The Nemeths won the TNA Tag Team titles from The Hardy Boyz at Rebellion, but Jeff Hardy is unable to compete at Under Siege due to the show taking place in Canada, where he cannot wrestle because of past legal trouble.

An angle took place on Impact last week where The Nemeths — knowing that Jeff couldn’t cross the border — mockingly told The Hardys they would give them a rematch at Under Siege. TNA authority figure Santino Marella then told The Nemeths that they would have to defend their titles against Matt Hardy and a partner of his choosing. Matt has enlisted the help of the 20-year-old Slater, a Hardy ally who is being mentored by him and Jeff.

Slater, a UK indie star, has been signed to TNA Wrestling since late 2023. He made headlines at Rebellion last month for a high-risk 450 splash spot where his fellow Ultimate X competitors failed to catch him. Slater was not seriously hurt despite the rough landing. Moose won the match to retain the X-Division Championship.

The CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario, Canada is hosting Under Siege on Friday, May 23. Here is the updated lineup:

  • Joe Hendry & Elijah vs. Trick Williams & Frankie Kazarian
  • Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Victoria Crawford (the former Alicia Fox)
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth defend against Matt Hardy & Leon Slater
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Cody Deaner (Deaner will receive a new TNA contract if he wins)

Four TNA champions confirmed for AAA Triplemania Regia

Four TNA stars have officially been confirmed for an upcoming Lucha Libre AAA event.

Joe Hendry, Moose, and Nic & Ryan Nemeth are heading to Mexico next month for Triplemania Regia. The show is being held at Arena Monterrey on Sunday, June 15 and is the first major AAA event in Mexico since it was announced that the company is being purchased by WWE.

The matches Hendry, Moose, and The Nemeths will be competing in have not been announced yet. Their participation in Triplemania Regia was announced by Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these four incredible TNA stars to AAA,” Dorian Roldan, general manager of AAA, told The Takedown. “This collaboration represents the best of both worlds — the passion and tradition of Lucha Libre, and the global momentum of TNA. Our fans are in for something truly special.”

Hendry, Moose, and The Nemeths are all currently champions in TNA. Hendry holds the TNA World Championship, Moose is the X-Division Champion, and Nic & Ryan Nemeth are the TNA Tag Team Champions. Nic Nemeth was a former World Champion for WWE as Dolph Ziggler.

WWE’s Angelo and Berto (Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo) will also be competing at Triplemania Regia.

The acquisition of AAA is expected to become official in Q3 of this year with WWE taking majority control of the promotion (51 percent) and Mexican sports and entertainment company Fillip owning 49 percent. Before Triplemania Regia, a Worlds Collide show will take place in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 7 with wrestlers from WWE, NXT, and AAA.

Matt Hardy and a mystery partner to challenge for TNA Tag titles

The TNA Tag Team Championship will be on the line at Under Siege — with a twist.

Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth issued a challenge to Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy for a title match at the Under Siege TNA Plus special on this week’s Impact, with full knowledge that Jeff is unable to compete in Canada due to legal reasons.

TNA authority figure Santino Marella called them on their bluff and made a Tag title bout official for Under Siege, with The Nemeths to defend against Matt Hardy and a mystery partner of his choosing.

Four matches are now official for the Under Siege special. The show will stream on TNA Plus on Friday, May 23. The lineup to this point is listed below.

TNA Under Siege, Friday, May 23 on TNA Plus —

  • TNA World Champion Joe Hendry and Elijah vs. Trick Williams and Frankie Kazarian
  • Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Victoria Crawford
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth defend against Matt Hardy and a mystery partner
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Cody Deaner — Deaner must leave TNA with a loss

Nic & Ryan Nemeth win Tag Team titles at TNA Rebellion

New TNA Tag Team Champions were crowned at Rebellion.

Nic & Ryan Nemeth bested The Hardyz to win the titles for the first time on Sunday. The finish had Ryan taking out Matt Hardy by slamming him onto a unfolded chair at ringside. Nic then followed that by giving Jeff Hardy the Danger Zone, allowing him to score the pinfall victory.

After their title win, Ryan Nemeth in a web exclusive said he and his brother proved who the best brother tag team is. Nic said it didn’t matter how many t-shirts the Hardys sold, they proved that they are the best and the Hardys don’t have it anymore.

Back at Sacrifice, The Nic Nemeth isolated Matt Hardy and attacked him following a ten-man steel cage match they were both part of, bloodying him with a steel chair. On the most recent episode of Impact, the Nemeths were invited to the Hardy Compound. Despite being at a disadvantage, they managed to leave the Hardy estate in possession of the TNA Tag Team titles, which they wore to the ring on Sunday.

Ryan Nemeth-AEW lawsuit moving to private arbitration

Ryan Nemeth’s lawsuit against AEW is moving to arbitration.

According to Post Wrestling, Nemeth submitted filings on Friday and Monday to voluntarily dismiss his lawsuit in Los Angeles’ Superior Court. AEW on Monday also dismissed its petition to take the suit into arbitration in the US District Court of Florida.

Nemeth’s attorney Mike Caspino issued the following statement to Post Wrestling: “There has been no settlement. The parties have agreed to submit the matter to arbitration.”

A move to arbitration means that the dispute between Nemeth and AEW will be resolved privately by a neutral third party instead of a public court. Both withdrawals were made without prejudice, however, meaning that the situation could be revived in the future.

Nemeth filed his lawsuit in February alleging assault and breach of contract following an altercation with CM Punk back in June of 2023. AEW and Tony Khan later countersued to take the matter into arbitration. Nemeth later said that he was served papers right as he was about to go on stage for his off-Broadway debut play in Queens, New York.

Ryan Nemeth says AEW countersuit served in ‘pathetic attempt to humiliate & intimidate’

Ryan Nemeth calls the manner in which he was served an AEW and Tony Khan lawsuit “a pathetic attempt to humiliate and intimidate me.”

In a Substack post, Nemeth has gone into detail about being countersued by Khan and AEW in an attempt to compel arbitration in the suit Nemeth filed against Khan and AEW (and also CM Punk), elaborating on his social media post from several days ago about being sued by “a literal billionaire.”

Nemeth sued AEW, Khan, and Punk in February alleging breach of contract and assault. AEW and Khan filed a motion to compel arbitration in the case and to have the case moved from California to Florida, citing the arbitration clause in Nemeth’s contract.

In his Substack note, Nemeth says that he was about to go on-stage for his off-Broadway debut play in Queens, New York City on Saturday when he was approached by a process server and notified that he was being sued:

The night of our second, and final, performance, I was approached by a man in the theater lobby just outside the restrooms. He said he was there to serve me legal papers (“Hey, sorry, you’re gettin’ sued”), and apologized for doing it at this inopportune time. He was giving me a legal notice that my former employer was suing me to move our legal dispute to arbitration, i.e., to keep everything private.

I looked at the large stack of paperwork he’d just handed me. I saw the main bullet points: “Tony Khan… All Elite Wrestling… A lawsuit has been filed against you…”

Nemeth says that while he and his representation were respectful and gave Khan and AEW an opportunity to review his lawsuit before it was filed, he was not afforded the same courtesy, and called the way he was served an attempt to intimidate him:

“Nobody was ambushed. Nobody was caught off-guard. In fact, one might argue that me choosing the unfortunate lawsuit option was telegraphed very clearly by two years of me trying all the other non-lawsuit options. Finally, after that very fair, very professional heads up, we filed.

For those of you with the knee-jerk reaction of “That’s how it works, idiot! He doesn’t get to choose when they serve you!” I’ll say this: my former employer, a billionaire, definitely had a choice. He could have very easily sent the notice to my attorney; he has his contact info. (I mean, my attorney’s contact information is printed quite clearly on the paperwork that I was served, so there goes that excuse.) He could have had it sent to my attorney on Monday morning, or any morning, for that matter. So, yeah, my first thought was also, “Well, this wasn’t intentional.” But, it kinda was. The billionaire in question definitely has my attorney’s information, as does his legal team and any independent counsel he’s gotten involved in this. These are aggressive tactics that I believe are designed to intimidate me and to stop me from speaking up about how I was treated.

Nemeth says he was offered a new AEW contract in lieu of filing suit, and says that he declined that offer. He also says that he was offered a settlement by AEW, then was told later that the lawyer who offered the settlement was not authorized to do so:

“Oddly enough, I was also told the lawyer who offered me the original settlement had no authority to do so (that sounds like serious organizational dysfunction, but who am I to say?)”

Nemeth says the manner in which he was served was “pathetic:”

“He could have also done this in a professional, respectful manner. Instead he and his lawyers chose to send someone to Astoria, Queens, NYC, on a Saturday night, to find me in the lobby of small 150-seat theater, in front of family, friends, and theatre goers, mere minutes before I stepped onstage, in a pathetic attempt to humiliate and intimidate me.”

Nemeth also addressed Khan indirectly:

So, I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but at this point it’s kinda hard to. I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt for the last two years, actually. At some point the one man who single-handedly runs the entire company can’t just claim plausible deniability at every turn, on every issue that seems remotely negative. I mean, do you run your company, or not?

I don’t know what it’s like to be a billionaire; I never will. I don’t know what it’s like to be a high-powered lawyer. But I do know that there are more humane and professional ways to approach this.”

Ryan Nemeth says ‘a literal billionaire’ sent lawsuit before Off-Broadway debut

Ryan Nemeth says “a literal billionaire” sent someone to sue him just before he walked onstage for his off-Broadway debut.

Nemeth is currently suing AEW, Tony Khan, and CM Punk alleging assault and breach of contract stemming from a backstage altercation with Punk in June 2023. According to Nemeth’s new bio on X, however, he was informed of a lawsuit against him recently.

“Raise your hand if a literal billionaire sent someone to sue you 4 minutes before you walked onstage for your off-Broadway debut play this weekend,” reads Nemeth’s bio.

Nemeth performed as the celebrity headliner for “Street Fighting Knock Out!” at The Hellenic Cultural Center NYC on Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22. The show is part murder mystery and part tribute to the popular Street Fighter video game series. A description of the show reads, “Get ready for another great whodunit murder mystery, “STREET FIGHTING KNOCK OUT!,” where the greatest fighters in the world gather at a tournament, only to have to truly defend themselves when a killer is exposed amongst them!”

Nemeth is currently active in TNA Wrestling alongside his brother Nic. He dropped a TNA World Championship match in his last bout against Joe Hendry when TNA was at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, last month. The match aired on the March 13 episode.

AEW, Tony Khan file to compel arbitration in Ryan Nemeth lawsuit

AEW and Tony Khan have responded to Ryan Nemeth’s lawsuit against them with a legal filing of their own.

Post Wrestling reports that a petition was filed Friday on behalf of Khan and AEW in federal court in Florida to compel arbitration in Nemeth’s lawsuit.

The report states that the filing notes that there was an arbitration clause in each of the contracts Nemeth signed with AEW that stipulated that any disputes be resolved in Florida’s Duval County. Nemeth filed suit against AEW, Khan, CM Punk, and 20 potential John Does in California state court last month for assault, breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and intentional interference with prospective advantage” stemming from an alleged backstage altercation between Nemeth and Punk at an AEW Collision taping in 2023.

Friday’s filing only pertains to Khan and AEW, not CM Punk, or any of the 20 potential John Does outlined as defendants in Nemeth’s lawsuit.

AEW and Khan are also asking that Nemeth be responsible for AEW’s attorney fees with regard to this matter, according to the Post Wrestling report.

The attorney arguing on Khan and AEW’s behalf also stated in Friday’s filing that the amount of money at issue in the lawsuit exceeds $75,000, therefore should be handled in federal court and not at the state level where Nemeth filed suit.

Ryan Nemeth files lawsuit against CM Punk, Tony Khan, AEW

Ryan Nemeth has filed suit against Tony Khan, AEW, and CM Punk.

Multiple reports emerged Sunday stating Nemeth is alleging assault and breach of contract stemming from a backstage altercation with Punk in AEW on June 21, 2023.

“Ryan Nemeth filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against AEW and Phil Brooks. We’ve had several stories over the last two years covering this case,” our own Dave Meltzer posted to X.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp is reporting Nemeth’s suit was filed on February 14, 2025, and is for “assault, breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and intentional interference with prospective advantage.”

Shortly after Punk returned on the debut episode of AEW Collision on June 17, 2023, Nemeth tweeted, “Literally the softest man alive,” seemingly referring to Punk. Days later, Punk reportedly confronted Nemeth about the comment backstage.

In August 2023, Nemeth was among several wrestlers sent home from an AEW Collision taping in Greensboro, North Carolina, reportedly due to Punk’s concerns over potential backstage drama.

Nemeth filed a complaint with AEW executives in September 2023 over the company’s response to the incidents involving him and Punk.
