Toni Storm & Athena vs. Britt Baker & Serena Deeb set for AEW Dynamite

The women’s tag match for Wednesday’s Dynamite has been changed.

AEW on social media wrote that Shida isn’t cleared by doctors due to an attack that took place on AEW Dark, which aired on Tuesday. Athena will replace Shida in the match for this Wednesday, teaming with Toni Storm to take on Serena Deeb and Britt Baker.

“After an apparent attack on @shidahikaru tonight on #AEWDark, Shida isn’t cleared by the docs to compete, so #AEW Interim Women’s World Champion #ToniStorm will team w/ @AthenaPalmer_FG vs @realbrittbaker & @SerenaDeeb on #AEWDynamite LIVE @ 8pm ET/7pm CT on @TBSNetwork TOMORROW!,” AEW’s Twitter wrote.

AEW aired an angle on Dark where Rebel was seen walking out of Hikaru Shida’s dressing room. Baker then emerged with a kendo stick and told interviewer Alex Marvez that if she couldn’t get the tag team partner of her choice, then Toni Storm couldn’t get her choice of a tag partner either. Marvez then called for medical attention as doctors went inside Shida’s dressing room.

Here is the updated lineup for Wednesday’s Dynamite:

  • Tournament of Champions second round: Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Jericho
  • Tournament of Champions second round: Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara
  • Toni Storm & Athena vs. Britt Baker & Serena Deeb

Storm & Shida vs. Baker & Deeb added to AEW Dynamite

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. will have a different tag team partner than usual on the September 14 AEW Dynamite.

In a match added to the Dynamite lineup during Friday’s Rampage episode, Britt Baker will team with Serena Deeb against interim Women’s World Champion Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida.

Dissension has been teased in Baker’s alliance with her typical tag partner Jamie Hayter following Baker trying to pin Hayter in a four-way to crown the interim Women’s Champion at All Out. In a backstage segment on the September 7 Dynamite, Hayter was shown walking away from Baker as Baker attempted to talk to her.

Two Tournament of Champions matches are also set for Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Sammy Guevara defeated Darby Allin on Rampage to advance in the tournament and will face Jon Moxley on Dynamite. Already announced, Bryan Danielson and Chris Jericho will square off in another tournament bout.

The updated lineup for the September 14 Dynamite:

  • Tournament of Champions second round: Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Jericho
  • Tournament of Champions second round: Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara
  • Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida vs. Britt Baker & Serena Deeb

Britt Baker advances to AEW Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament finals

Britt Baker has advanced to the finals of the women’s AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Baker defeated Toni Storm on tonight’s Dynamite to advance. The finish had Jamie Hayter come to the apron. Storm knocked Hayter off the apron, but Baker used the opportunity to roll up Storm, grabbing the ropes for the three count.

With the win, Baker will now advance to the finals, which will take place at Double or Nothing on Sunday. She will face the winner of the last semifinal match between Ruby Soho and Kris Statlander, which will take place on this Friday’s Rampage in Las Vegas.

Baker originally qualified for the tournament by defeating Danielle Kamela, then defeated the mystery joker entrant last week on Dynamite, which turned out to be Maki Itoh.

The men’s finals were set on tonight’s Dynamite, with Samoa Joe defeating Kyle O’Reilly to advance to the finals, where he will take on Adam Cole.

AEW’s Britt Baker makes appearance at AIW Gauntlet for the Gold

Britt Baker made a surprise appearance at tonight’s Absolute Intense Wrestling’s Gauntlet for the Gold event.

Baker was a mystery partner for Josh Bishop, Wes Barkley, and Dominic Garrini, as they faced Philly Collins, Marino Tenglia, Matt Cardona, and Chelsea Green. The finish of the match had Cardona accidentally hit Green with a title belt, allowing Baker to get the win with the lockjaw.

Baker has made appearances in AIW in the past, going as far back as 2016. Her latest appearance was in 2019, the same year that All Elite Wrestling was launched.

Recently, Baker has been competing in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. She defeated Danielle Kamela to qualify, then defeated Maki Itoh in the quarterfinals. She is set to face Toni Storm on this week’s Dynamite. The winner will move on to the finals, which will take place at Double or Nothing on May 29.

Tonight’s AIW event was headlined by a gauntlet match that was won by Bishop.

Maki Itoh appears as Britt Baker’s mystery opponent on AEW Dynamite

Maki Itoh returned to AEW on Dynamite, appearing as the Joker mystery opponent for Britt Baker in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

Itoh lost to Baker by Lockjaw submission in her first AEW appearance since March 2021.

Itoh had teamed with Baker in her last match in AEW on the March 10, 2021 Dynamite, which the two played off of in their Tournament bout. Baker and Itoh hugged, then Baker asked Itoh to lay down and allow her to make the cover for the victory. Itoh appeared to go along with the idea, but then cradled Baker for a near fall.

Baker will face Toni Storm in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. The other semifinal bout will feature Ruby Soho vs. the winner of Red Velvet vs. Kris Statlander, which is set for the Rampage episode airing this Friday.

The finals of the Tournament will take place at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday, May 29.

Three advance in AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments

The first finalist has been set for the men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament while another semifinal has been confirmed. Meanwhile, the first semifinal match has been set for the women’s tournament.

Adam Cole advanced to the finals of the men’s tournament in the main event of tonight’s Dynamite, defeating Jeff Hardy with the last shot. He will face the winner of the other semifinal match, where Samoa Joe will face Kyle O’Reilly. Joe defeated Johnny Elite (John Morrison) in the opening match of tonight’s Dynamite, while O’Reilly defeated Fenix later in the show.

In the women’s tournament, Britt Baker defeated surprise joker entrant Maki Itoh to advance to the semifinals. She will now face Toni Storm in the semifinals. The final quarterfinal match between Red Velvet and Kris Statlander will take place on this Friday’s AEW Rampage. The winner of that match will face Ruby Soho in the second semifinal match.

The finals of both tournaments will take place at AEW Double or Nothing on May 29.
