Young Bucks address whether Being The Elite is fully returning

It’s still up in the air as to whether Being The Elite will be making a full-fledged return.

After a long period of dormancy, the Being The Elite YouTube channel was revived at the end of August. The Young Bucks have continued to post regular content since then but have not made any official announcement as to what their plans for the channel are. Thus far, they have uploaded shorter-form content rather than full episodes.

“We’re playing it by ear,” Matt Jackson told Undisputed in a new interview. “We’ve been very careful not to publicly say it’s back officially or even call what we’ve aired as episodes. We’re referring to it all as BTE content.

“It’s getting a positive reaction, for sure. We don’t want to overpromise, but we’re definitely having a lot of fun with it.”

The channel has nearly 500,000 subscribers on YouTube but has not uploaded a full BTE episode in more than two years. Dating back to the pre-AEW days, the vlog series played an important role in helping The Young Bucks connect with fans and grow their popularity.

AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view this Saturday will feature a tag match between The Young Bucks and the newly reunited Jurassic Express. Both teams are AEW originals and former tag champions.

“It’s kind of crazy that AEW has now been around long enough to already have a rich history with acts that feel, in a way, nostalgic,” Matt Jackson said about the matchup. “Jurassic Express just feels warm, fun, and familiar. When their music hits, it just brings out the kid in everyone.”

Jackson added that the match is happening at a time when he and his brother Nick feel like they’ve found their spark again.

“We have really found that spark again, that love of the game,” he said. “It’s been a year where we’ve really dug into our old bag of tricks and gone all out, so it only makes sense to go out there and kill it with two AEW originals. We all take great pride in our matches together.”

The Young Bucks tease return of AEW star in new BTE video

The Young Bucks have released their second Being the Elite video in recent days.

The 47-second video published on Monday shows Matt and Nick Jackson in their hotel room surrounded by empty Pepsi bottles and pizza boxes watching footage of the Lights Out Steel Cage match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Matt’s phone rings and when he picks it up the caller ID shows the name Jack Perry. Matt didn’t take the call.

The episode titled “Guess Who Called The Bucks” is available here and below this article.

The X account WrestleVotes reported in July that Perry had been backstage at AEW events, while Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted in a recent Q&A that there have been discussions about Perry’s return.

Perry, 28, hasn’t wrestled since Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome on January 5, where he unsuccessfully challenged Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. He last wrestled for AEW at Full Gear 2024 on November 23, losing the TNT Championship to Daniel Garcia.

The new episode of Being the Elite is available below:

Matt Jackson on Hangman Page: ‘He’s become bigger than I ever expected’

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso, The Young Bucks commented on getting to share in so many of AEW World Champion Hangman Page’s big moments.

Both times Page has won the world title, The Bucks have been ringside. Despite being aligned with then-champion Kenny Omega, The Bucks came out to the ringside area but did not interfere at Full Gear 2021 when Page won the title the first time. They were also ringside during the closing moments of AEW All In 2025 when Page defeated Jon Moxley to win the title a second time.

“It’s not lost on me how cool it has been to be part of so many of his big moments,” Matt Jackson said of Page.

Matt continued to say about AEW All In, “Being involved in the main event also gave me the privilege to prop myself up on a guardrail and watch the finish. I covered my smiling mouth with my hand. So proud.”

Page and the Young Bucks have been aligned or feuding for close to a decade. Page joined Bullet Club and first appeared on The Bucks’ YouTube channel, Being the Elite, in 2016. Matt and Nick Jackson say they knew right away that he had what it took to be a big star in the industry.

“Hangman was young, handsome, and unexposed,” said Matt Jackson. “And he had the right attitude. That is so important in wrestling. If you’re a joy to work with and collaborate with, then more people will want to work with you. But most importantly, he had all the tools, instincts, and talent. He’s become bigger than I ever expected.”

“I knew Hangman had ‘it’ when I saw all the work he put into things outside of the ring,” said Nick Jackson. “The way he committed to a bit on Being The Elite. There was a story where he lost his boots and he’d be barefoot everywhere he went–and this went on for months. He’d be barefoot at meet and greets, airports, and alleyways. It was crazy, but the way he outworked a lot of the guys we had on BTE, I knew he was special.”

The Bucks also spoke about their shared history with Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega, as well as watching them renew their rivalry at AEW All In. Matt Jackson said the match led to a “profoundly emotionally” moment for him.

“Watching them do the dance, possibly for the last time, was a reminder to me of my own career and my own mortality,” said Matt Jackson. “Seeing some of the guys around me that I traveled up and down the roads with now retiring, or moving on to different roles, and then watching two of the all-time greats put together what felt like an epilogue made me ask myself, where does the time go? That made me more profoundly emotional than I ever would’ve imagined.”

Matt and Nick Jackson’s full discussion with Justin Barrasso for the Undisputed is available here.

All-Star tag match added to AEW Dynamite lineup

An All-Star tag team match is the latest addition to the card for tonight’s AEW Dynamite episode in Cincinnati.

Tony Khan has announced that TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher will be teaming up with Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks for an eight-man tag match on tonight’s show. They’ll be facing Hologram, Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii — and a mystery partner from NJPW.

Last weekend on Collision, Fletcher challenged NJPW to send their “pound-for-pound best” to challenge him for the TNT Championship at Forbidden Door on August 24. We’ll find out the identity of that challenger tonight.

Fletcher won the TNT title from Dustin Rhodes in a street fight at the end of last month and has made one successful defense so far, defeating Ishii.

Cincinnati’s Andrew J Brady Music Center is the venue for tonight’s show. Here is everything that’s been announced:

AEW Dynamite (Wednesday, August 13) —

  • Hangman Page and MJF face-to-face
  • Jon Moxley vs. Kevin Knight
  • Adam Copeland vs. Stokely Hathaway
  • Mercedes Mone, Thekla & Skye Blue vs. Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata & Alex Windsor
  • All-Star eight-man tag match: Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks vs. Hologram, Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii, and a mystery NJPW wrestler

The Young Bucks on AEW character change: ‘We love to make fun of ourselves’

The Young Bucks discussed reinventing themselves and making themselves the butt of jokes during a recent interview.

Matt and Nick Jackson spoke to Justin Barrasso of The Undisputed ahead of their match against Brody King and Bandido on tonight’s episode of Dynamite. Matt Jackson noted that it’s a match Tony Khan specifically wanted to see.

“Bandido and Brody vs. Young Bucks is specifically a match Tony Khan wanted to see, so we refuse to disappoint,” said Matt Jackson.

He continued:

“We’re on a massive winning streak right now. And I’m not talking about wins and losses in the ring. I mean in the way that everything we’ve been blessed to be part of this year has been strong. The segments since returning in April have mostly been home runs in our eyes, so we just really want to keep up the momentum.”

Nick Jackson added:

“We love to make fun of ourselves. If you can’t be the butt of a joke in this business sometimes, you probably picked a bad profession. We also like to reinvent our character work and that’s exactly what this has given us. We’ve learned from guys like [Chris] Jericho who always changed with the times, and we take pride in it.”

Matt Jackson:

“My mother-in-law and kids specifically, when they tell me how embarrassed they are for me, I can’t help but laugh when I tell them that this was our idea. We’re born to play these types of roles. Many wrestlers in the business prefer not to take on these types of stories, which immediately makes us more interested in doing them.”

In storyline, the Young Bucks lost their positions as AEW EVPs due to a stipulation in their match against Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland at All In. They also discussed that match during the interview, with Matt Jackson noting that he thanked both of his opponents for bringing out that kind of performer in him.

“I thanked both men after the match for ‘bringing out that guy again. I knew he was still in there somewhere.’ Swerve mentioned it being a personal goal of his to get us to start having that type of fun again. It’s been a glorious time since being back, thanks in large part to him.”

The Young Bucks defeated The Outrunners on last week’s edition of AEW Dynamite in a quarterfinal match in the Tag Team Eliminator tournament. The following night on Collision, King and Bandido defeated The Gates of Agony to also advance to the semifinals. The winner of tonight’s match will face FTR in the finals, who defeated JetSpeed in the quarterfinals and The Bang Bang Gang team of Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn in the semifinals.

Matt and Nick Jackson’s full interview with Justin Barrasso is available here.

MJF appearance, Tag Title Eliminator tournament match added to AEW Dynamite

A Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament match is set for Dynamite.

It was announced during Collision that The Young Bucks will meet The Outrunners this Wednesday in Chicago as AEW continues its residency in the area. The winners of the match will meet the winners of a future match between Gates of Agony and Brodido (Bandido and Brody King) in the semifinals.

The tournament started on Wednesday with FTR defeating JetSpeed in the first quarterfinal match. They will now move on to face The Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn) after they emerged victorious on Saturday over Big Bill and Bryan Keith. The winners of the tournament will face The Hurt Syndicate for the AEW Tag Team titles at Forbidden Door on August 24.

MJF will also appear live this Wednesday. His position in The Hurt Syndicate became shakier last week after he questioned them for associating themselves with Adam Copeland. Bobby Lashley took exception to MJF’s questioning and told him he didn’t want him in the group any longer.

Here is the updated lineup for Dynamite:

AEW Dynamite for Wednesday, July 30:

  • AEW World Championship: Hangman Page defends against Jon Moxley, everyone banned from ringside
  • Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament quarterfinal: The Young Bucks vs. The Outrunners
  • MJF will appear

Matt Jackson: All In will ‘probably be my biggest wrestling legacy’

The Young Bucks are proud of how far All In has come since they and Cody Rhodes promoted the first event in 2018.

For the first time since that inaugural show, All In returns stateside this Saturday. What started as a self-promoted event by The Elite has now become AEW’s biggest annual pay-per-view, twice being held at Wembley Stadium in London and now taking place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

All In has already solidified its place among the most historically important shows in wrestling history — and The Young Bucks know it will always be a key part of their legacy.

“From running that first event several years ago in Chicago, when getting 10,000 people into an arena sounded impossible, to seeing it grow into an annual stadium show, where this year we’ll have 20,000-plus fans in attendance, it really does blow my mind,” Matt Jackson told Uncrowned.

“I’m humbled to have had the pleasure to take part in this movement from the very beginning. To be able to say not only was I there, but I helped it all happen, that’ll probably be my biggest wrestling legacy. I get to perform on the show I helped create, in the company I am a founding father of, a company that has succeeded so much more than even I could have ever imagined, company that forever will be called Elite, long after I’m gone.”

Saturday’s event will see Matt and his brother Nick Jackson take on Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay in a tag team match. If The Young Bucks win, neither Strickland nor Ospreay can challenge for the AEW World Championship for the next year. But if Strickland & Ospreay win, The Young Bucks lose their on-screen titles as executive vice presidents.

The Young Bucks told Uncrowned that they have enjoyed working their EVP titles into their TV personas, with Nick saying that “people actually think we’re bad human beings because we play these characters pretty dang good.” Matt feels they still have a lot left to explore if they win on Saturday.

“It really has been incredibly fun leaning in on all the things people accuse us of being. I remember back in the beginning, arguing with someone that going public about having a major job title in the company is probably a bad idea if we want to be cheered ever again as wrestlers,” Matt said.

“So using it in this way all these years later has definitely made the most sense. It’s for sure helped us garner more heat, and given us a new tool to work with the last couple of years on screen. I think there’s so much left to explore too, shall we have that opportunity to do so.”

All In’s pre-show will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday with the main card then starting at 3 p.m. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Mone, and International Champion Kenny Omega vs. Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada are the three top matches set for the show.

All Star eight-man tag, Mercedes Mone & Toni Storm final face-to-face set for AEW Dynamite

Matches and segments have been announced for the next episode of AEW Dynamite.

An All-Star 8 man tag will take place just days before next weekend’s All In. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and The Young Bucks will take on Hangman Page, Will Ospreay, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs. It will be the last time Moxley and Page meet before their Texas Death match at All In.

A four-way match will determine the number two spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match. Thekla, Queen Aminata, Tay Melo, and Megan Bayne will compete to see who faces number one pick Kris Statlander next Saturday.

Additionally, MJF and Mark Briscoe will have a “talky-talk” as they prepare to face each other in the men’s Casino Battle Royal. Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm will have one final face-to-face before their Women’s title match. And Samoa Joe will face Wheeler Yuta as Joe and The Opps continue to set their sights on the Death Riders.

Here is the updated card for AEW Dynamite:

AEW Dynamite for Wednesday, July 9:

  • Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and The Young Bucks vs. Hangman Page, Will Ospreay, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs
  • For the number 2 spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet: Thekla vs. Tay Melo vs. Queen Aminata vs. Megan Bayne
  • Samoa Joe vs. Wheeler Yuta
  • Mercedes Mone, Toni Storm face-to-face
  • MJF and Mark Briscoe have a ‘talky-talk’

Good Brothers to team with Young Bucks at NJPW Resurgence

The Good Brothers are officially free agents — and they’ve already booked their NJPW return.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson entered free agency today with 90 days having passed since WWE released them. NJPW announced that the two will return to the promotion this Friday at Resurgence, where they’ll reunite with their former Bullet Club faction members The Young Bucks in an eight-man tag match against Gabe Kidd, David Finlay, Clark Connors & Gedo of Bullet Club War Dogs.

NJPW shared a promo with Gallows & Anderson addressing their return:

“What you’re witnessing here today my friends, it is not a re-debut. It is not an arrival shot. It is a resurrection. It is the resurgence of the Good Brothers,” Gallows said.

“May 9 is day one at Resurgence,” Anderson added. “You are witnessing a total takeover.”

Gallows & Anderson have had three reigns together as IWGP Tag Team Champions in NJPW. Anderson has also held singles gold in the company with one reign as NEVER Openweight Champion.

Their most recent WWE run lasted from late 2022 until February 2025. Resurgence will be Anderson’s first time wrestling since undergoing surgery last November for a torn rotator cuff and partially torn labrum.

Friday’s show is taking place from Toyota Arena in Ontario, California and will air on New Japan World as a pay-per-view. Here is the updated card:

NJPW Resurgence (Friday, May 9) —

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto defends against Zack Sabre Jr.

  • Strong Openweight Tag Team Champions Royce Isaacs & Jorel Nelson defend against Templario & TJP

Young Bucks trios match, Samoa Joe vs. Claudio Castagnoli added to AEW Dynamite

The first matches and segments for AEW Dynamite have been announced.

This coming Wednesday’s show will see The Young Bucks and Ricochet team up to take on Swerve Strickland, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Mark Briscoe. Strickland has been looking to get his revenge on the Young Bucks after they cost him the AEW World title back at Dynasty. The Elite were also victorious in an all-star eight man tag on last week’s Dynamite where they defeated Kenny Omega, Kevin Knight, Bailey, and Briscoe.

Samoa Joe will continue his war against the Death Riders, taking on Claudio Castagnoli. It was Castagnoli who took out Katsuyori Shibata on Wednesday, giving him the Gotch piledriver on the bottom of a steel chair. This all comes prior to the steel cage match between Joe and Moxley that takes place on May 14.

A sit-down with Jamie Hayter has also been announced. She and Mercedes Mone will compete in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament at Double or Nothing that will decide Toni Storm’s opponent for All In.

The updated lineup for Dynamite:

AEW Dynamite (May 7):

  • The Young Bucks & Ricochet vs. Swerve Strickland, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Mark Briscoe
  • Samoa Joe vs. Claudio Castagnoli
  • Jamie Hayter sit-down interview with Renee Paquette

All Star eight-man tag match booked for next AEW Dynamite

An All-Star eight-man tag featuring some of AEW’s top stars is set for the next episode of Dynamite.

Kenny Omega will team with Speedball Mike Bailey, Mark Briscoe, and Kevin Knight to take on The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Ricochet. The match was made official on this week’s episode of Collision. In his tweet making the announcement, Tony Khan noted this would be the first time Omega and Okada have met in the ring since 2018.

After Swerve Strickland defeated Blake Christian in the opening match of this week’s Collision, The Young Bucks jumped him, laying out Swerve with the EVP trigger. They went for the Meltzer Driver but were interrupted by Omega, who made the save by laying out Nicholas with a snap dragon suplex. He attempted the v-trigger, but Matthew pulled Nicholas from the ring before Omega could lay him out.

It was also announced that both The Hurt Syndicate and MJF will be appearing on next week’s program. MJF in recent weeks has attempted to align himself with the group, but Bobby Lashley is the lone holdout that doesn’t trust whatever MJF has up his sleeve.

The AEW Dynamite lineup for April 30:

AEW Dynamite, Wednesday, April 30 —

  • Owen Hart Foundation men’s tournament semifinals: Hangman Adam Page vs. Kyle Fletcher
  • All-Star 8-man tag: Kenny Omega, Speedball Mike Bailey, Mark Briscoe, and Kevin Knight vs. The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Ricochet
  • The Hurt Syndicate will appear live
  • MJF will appear live

AEW Dynamite live results: The Young Bucks return to action

The Young Bucks will return to action in an AEW ring for the first time since October on tonight’s Dynamite.

Matthew and Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks will square off with the “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight duo on tonight’s Dynamite in New Orleans. The last time The Young Bucks wrestled in AEW was on the October 30, 2024 Dynamite where they dropped the Tag Team titles to Private Party’s Zay and Quen.

The Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament also continues on tonight’s Dynamite, with Kris Statlander taking on Jamie Hayter in a semifinals matchup. The winner advances to the tournament finals at next month’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view where they will face Mercedes Mone for the Owen Hart Cup. The tournament winner also earns a title shot against the Women’s World Champion at All In in July.

Rapper and former WCW wrestler Master P is also set to appear on tonight’s episode. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Tony Schiavone welcoming us in the ring, as he announces Master P, who makes his entrance and introduces the new AEW Trios Champions, The Opps, to a huge ovation. Samoa Joe wastes no time singing Make’em Say Ugh with Master P and the crowd, thanking him for everything he does for the city and student athletes. They’re cut off quickly by the Death Riders music, as Marina Shafir walks out alone, but it was a distraction, as Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta attack The Opps from behind. Master P was left alone in the ring with Moxley, they had a brief face-off until Joe recovered and sank in a Kokina Clutch on Moxley, as Master P got in a few shots and laughed, ordering Joe to put Moxley to sleep. The Young Bucks & Kazuchika Okada hit the ring with chairs and save Moxley, as Master P bailed. Moxley stumbled to his feet, but had to be pulled away by Shafir before coming face-to-face with The Elite. Swerve Strickland’s music now hits and he walks in from the crowd. Joe recovers, as Strickland hits the ring and the Elite bail up the aisle way, but Kenny Omega’s music hit and The Elite scurrying away through the crowd. Omega, Strickland & The Opps stood tall, as Excalibur talked about how Team AEW must display a united front.

Joe said he’s going to beat Jon Moxley’s ass and choke him out, taking back his (as he glances at Strickland at this point) AEW World Title. The Opps leave, as Omega & Strickland give each other a nod before leaving as well.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Patriarchy, congratulating Nick Wayne on winning the ROH TV Title and being the youngest champion in the company. Christian Cage took the title from Nick and said she should be congratulating him, as he’s responsible for what Nick has become, The Prodigy. Cage told Nick he & Mother Wayne celebrated extensively later that night. Cage said you see what happens when you shut your mouth and listen to him, good things happen and he always tells the truth. Nick said what happens when you stick to the plan, you actually win championships. Nick went to take back his TV Title, but Cage resisted and put it on Nick’s shoulder himself, saying he loves his family.

-Before our opening match, Taz informed us HOOK is back in New York and recovering, but when the time is right, he’ll be back and do what he has to do.

Ricochet vs. Mark Briscoe

(This turned into a darn fine first ever singles meeting between these two. Finally, Briscoe gets the much-needed win, as he’s been long overdue, even if Ricochet stood tall in the post-match, initially. Ricochet seems to be headed into a program with Kevin Knight and that should be not only a great match, but a very good feud for Knight in his AEW run.)

Lots of stalling from Ricochet in the early going, so it was Briscoe who had to get things going with the quick offense. Scissor kick through the ropes connects, as Ricochet keeps trying to escape, both fought to the apron, Ricochet hit a pump kick, but Briscoe answered with a Cactus Jack elbow to the floor. Back inside, Ricochet pulled referee Paul Turner into the path, allowing him to drape Briscoe throat first on the top rope and a baseball slide that put him in control throughout break.

Ricochet took too long mocking the crowd, allowing Briscoe to battle back with a flying forearm. Ricochet blocked a bulldog, but Briscoe put on the brakes and slapped the bald head. They trade a series of pin attempts, until Ricochet hit a Northern Lights into a Brainbsuter for a close two. Again, Ricochet wasted time trashing talking, as Briscoe caught a springboard into an Exploder for two of his own. Briscoe wanted a Jay Driller, but Briscoe settled for a rolling DVD and sliding D. Ricochet avoided a Froggy Bow, repeatedly hung-up Briscoe on the ropes and hit a springboard 450 Splash for a near fall.

Briscoe cut off Ricochet in the ropes, knocked him to the floor and hit a Tope Con Hiro. Back inside, massive lariat turned Ricochet inside out for a close two. Ricochet again avoided a Jay Driller, tried to steal a pin with the feet on the ropes, but Briscoe rolled through and got the flash pin.

Briscoe celebrated the win, but Ricochet cracked him in the ribs and back with a chair in the post-match. He pulled the golden scissors out and was about to use them until Kevin Knight sprinted out. Ricochet tried attacking at the aisle, but Knight clocked him with a right hand, knocking the scissors from Ricochet’s hand, as he bailed quickly to the back. Knight helped out Briscoe, standing tall, as we see The Rock n’ Roll Express applauding from the crowd.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe defeated Ricochet

FTR Return from Suspension

Tony Schiavone was about to introduce FTR to the ring, when he was cut off by the returning Stokely Hathaway, who gave a grand introduction to Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler, the most decorated tag team in wrestling. Hathaway made his way to the ring with FTR, as he said he’ll address the elephant in the room. FTR were suspended for accidentally hitting someone and touching Tony Schaivone? Darby Allin has lit people on fire, Hangman Page has committed arson, Ricochet has shanked people with scissors & Jon Moxley has committed acts of terrorism, kidnapping, extortion and continues walking around AEW unpunished. Hathaway told FTR not to worry, that’s why he’s here, as he’ll have their suspension expunged from their permanent record. If you want to have a conversation with FTR, you need to have one with Hathaway, who is now the new agent for the greatest team alive today, FTR.

Hathaway ordered Schiavone to do his job, as he reluctantly pointed the mic to Wheeler, who thanked Hathaway for what he’s doing for them. Wheeler said last week, Daniel Garcia made his own decision and responsible for what happened, it was 2.0 who wanted to fight and they weren’t ready to fight FTR. Out of respect to Garcia, he asked them to stop beating up 2.0 and they did. FTR put Garcia and the TNT Title first and Cope first, but it got them nothing, no more, the fans are going to boo them for that?

Harwood said they have a couple of legends in the house tonight, the Rock n’ Roll Express, welcoming Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson in the ring. They got a huge ovation, as Harwood asked them what their greatest match ever, but cut off Morton before he could answer, telling them The Midnight Express was better than the Rock n’ Roll Express. Harwood asked Morton how old they are, but cut him off again, saying they look 108-109 years old. Harwood asked what their favorite experience was, cut off again, but Morton wasn’t standing for it. Hathaway presented them with a FTR shirt and said that this shirt was for Morton. FTR quickly attacked Gibson & laid out Morton with a Spike Piledriver. The Paragon (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) hit the ring for the save, as FTR quickly bailed with Hathaway through the crowd.

The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight

(Just a fantastic tag match that had the newcomers Bailey & Knight looking incredibly strong, even in defeat. The Bucks looked like they hadn’t missed a step since not having a match in AEW in 5 months (aside from a few matches in New Japan). This match ramped up in a big way down the stretch, as I’d recommend going out of your way to check this one out.)

Fast start by Matthew & Bailey, with both trying superkicks at the same time, getting tied up, so Nicholas jumped in with a superkick of his own. Double back elbows by The Bucks, as they hit their pose, but are cut-off double slingshot dives to the outside by Bailey & Knight. Back inside, The Bucks were able to regain control with double teams, as Bailey suffered a slingshot facebuster by Nicholas, who followed with a moonsault off the apron onto Knight, with The Bucks controlling throughout break.

Bailey battled back with machine gun kicks to Nicholas, allowing a hot tag to Knight, who ran wild. Big time float over into a lariat on Mattew, as Knight hit multiple corner splashes and leaping slash for two. Rolling DDT countered into rolling Northern Lights from Matthew, even hitting a 2 for 1 on Bailey as well. Bounce back powerbomb on Knight, as Nicholas rolled through the double stomp into a backstabber on Bailey. Head fake superkick into a DDT by Matthew on Bailey, as Nichoals tagged in, played the crowd, asking if they want a Superkick Party? Everyone proceeded to hit with superkicks, until Bailey & Nicholas collided with dueling ones, Matthew & Knight hit each other with double clotheslines, as Bailey & Nicholas were up again and hit dueling corkscrew kicks in an amazing sequence into a reset.

Nicholas hit a roundhouse kick on Knight, who answered with a picture-perfect dropkick, as we got a chicken fight with Matthew on Bailey’s shoulders and Knight on Nicholas’. Matthew was caught in the corner, Knight hit a huge standing hurricanrana, as a dropkick/backstabber combo followed for a near fall. Nicholas suffered a High/Low, as Bailey & Knight went to opposite sides of the ring, as Bailey hit a massive Moonsault onto Matthew outside, as Knight hit a springboard splash on Nicholas for two. PK and Moonsault knee drop from Bailey onto Nicholas, as Knight hit the UFO Splash, but Matthew tackled Bailey onto the pile.

The Bucks looked to regroup outside, but Bailey & Knight were quick after, fighting up on the barricade. Bailey was dropped, as The Bucks hit a Doomsday Device off the barricade onto Knight. Back inside, Bailey was there to try a Triangle Moonsault, but was caught by The Bucks, as Matthew held on, as Nicholas hit a running Meltzer Driver off the barricade. Back inside, Knight dodged an EVP Trigger into a double Pele kick and double spike DDT. Referee Rick Knox turned his back as Knight went for a springboard, as Ricochet tripped up Knight, allowing The Bucks to hit an EVP Trigger and win it.

Match Result: The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) defeated Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Timeless Toni Storm and asks her thoughts on Kris Statlander vs. Jamie Hayter. Storm tells them to rip their tits off if they must, but you’re watching the feature presentation. Paquette brings up Storm appearing at the TCM Film Festival and the Empire Strikes Back. Storm said there’s not an Empire big enough to strike this back, she’s a lover and a fighter, before she cucks around Hollywood this weekend and yanks Ben Mankiewicz, she has an announcement and says attention slop-tarts, there will be a Title Eliminator performance this Saturday on Collision, as Queen Aminata quickly walks in and said she loves to fight. Storm says let’s make cinema!

MJF tries to win over The Hurt Syndicate…Again

MVP told the crowd this is an official announcement from The Hurt Syndicate. On behalf of Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley, they’re so good at hurting people, every single team they’ve beaten, haven’t been seen since. The Gates of Agony won’t be seen in the near future, after being hurt by them, but they have a bright future, just now is not their time.

MVP hands the mic over to Lashley, who was cut-off before he could talk by MJF pulling up to the arena in a snazzy ride, telling an attendant to keep it running and here’s your tip, hitting him low, calling him a douche. MJF makes his way to the ring and said we all know they had a good time last week and if they want to have a good time the rest of their lives, all he needs is three thumbs up. MVP gives a thumbs up, Benjamin slowly gives a thumbs up of his own, but holds back MJF from trying to hug him. Benjamin says he didn’t give a thumbs up for a bunch of broads and a watch, but because of MVP, don’t forget that. MJF said we all love Montel, just like we love our friend, Bob. MJF told Lashley if he’s in the Syndicate, they’ll have all the gold in the world, but some things he brings to the table that Lashley doesn’t. MJF knows this place more than anyone and cut corners better than anyone (Taz said that’s a shoot on commentary, which was hilarious) and if they let MJF into the Syndicate, they run wrestling.

MJF knows he’s been a little prickly towards Lashley in recent weeks, but will tell him two words he’s never said before. He really had to fight to get it out, but ultimately said I’m Sorry. Right as Lashley was about to give a thumbs down, MJF stopped him and said the car he drove to the arena in is Lashley’s if he gets a thumbs up. Lashley asked to see the keys and MJF said they’re in the back, so let’s go and take a walk. Everyone heads to the back, as MJF tells the crowd they’re as tough to look at as they are lovely.

Commentary talks about how MJF sees the path to the AEW World Title through the Hurt Syndicate. We go backstage as MJF hands Lashley the keys to the car, as Lashley & Benjamin get in. MJF said all he needs in a thumbs up, but Lashley gives a thumbs down as they drive away. MVP has to calm MJF down, reminding him to give the people what they want, as MJF calms and through his teeth says he hopes Bob enjoys the car.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page, who screamed that the minute he sees Kyle Fletcher, he’s putting his ass down. MJF strolls in and says Page’s new haircut looks like he met his wife at a family reunion. Page said unless MJF has something of substance to add, he’d get in his car and, oh wait. MJF laughs and said it’s funny, guy enters the Owen Hart Tournament, but someone strolls in the back door thanks to The Hurt Syndicate to become a two time World Champion. Page said MJF doesn’t know anything about the back door and MJF couldn’t hang with him in the ring, and couldn’t hang in the Owen. MJF called Page an idiot who acts high and mighty since he beat him, but reminds Page they are 1-1, if they fight again, he’ll send Page to the glue factory. If Page makes it to the Finals of the Owen, he’ll do what he does best, choke. MJF leaves, as Page screamed he has something for MJF to choke on, dumbass.

Will Ospreay & Brody King vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Josh Alexander (w/Don Callis & Lance Archer)

(Hard fought win for the Callis Family, as it was a necessary win for them, especially Alexander, after losing in his debut last week. Also, with the Callis Family growing in numbers on Collision last week with the addition of Rocky Romero & returning Trent Beretta, it’s important to really get them over as a threat, so this was a good way to go about it. While I don’t like King taking another pin, there’s just simply no way Ospreay should be losing while being the favorite in the Owen.)

Alexander got the upper hand to start against Ospreay, who responded by firing off a quick hurricanrana and tag to King. Double shoulder tackle to Alexander, as Takeshita was slammed onto his partner. King & Ospreay stack on top with splashes before King fires off corner chops on Alexander. Takeshita tripped up and trapped Ospreay in the ropes, allowing Alexander to attack on the outside, as even Callis got in a cheap shot during picture-in-picture.

Back from break, Ospreay hit a double handspring Pele to be able to make the King hot tag. Series of clotheslines and back drops dished out, as King followed with a dive onto the floor. Alexander was stacked onto Takeshita against the barricade, as King hit a cross body onto both. Back inside, Ospreay tags, as King had Takeshita in a fireman’s carry, double stomp by Ospreay, as King hit a DVD onto his partner’s knees. King went outside after Alexander, as Ospreay avoided a Blue Thunder Bomb, but was starched by a massive right hand. Ospreay tried a handspring, but Takeshita hit the Blue Thunder Bomb for a wild two.

Alexander & King tag in, as Alexander wanted a piledriver, King spun-out, rolling elbow and huge lariat for two. Cannonball in the corner connects, as Archer ran distraction on referee Bryce, allowing Takeshita to get in a cheap shot. Osperay took out Archer with a dive, as back inside, Takeshita dodged Pip, Pip, Cheerio, as Alexander hit a forearm in mid-air and powerbomb to follow. Takeshita decked King with a Helluva Kick, as Alexander hit a rolling German, as he & Takeshita hit a double rolling elbow for a close two. Power Drive Knee hits, as Alexander spiked King with the C4 to get the victory.

Post-match, Ospreay tried to save his partner from an attack, but was chokeslammed by Archer for his troubles. With Ospreay & King down, Kyle Fletcher saunters down the aisle and was about to put Ospreay away, until Hangman Adam Page’s music hits and he power walks to the ring, but was attack from behind by Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero. Taz said the Callis Family simply have too many guys, as they threw Page into the ring and the Family put a 6 on 3 beatdown on them all, with Page eating a Brainbuster from Fletcher prior to their Semifinal Owen Hart Tournament match next week.

Match Result: Konosuke Takeshita & Josh Alexander defeated Will Ospreay & Brody King

-During the match, we were told Jon Moxley will be defending his AEW World Title against Samoa Joe on the May 14th episode of Dynamite at Beach Break.

Kris Statlander vs. Jamie Hayter in an Owen Hart Foundation Semifinal

(For only having one singles match with each other on a Jericho Cruise, these two worked incredibly well with one another and it’s a showdown I’d really like to see happen again. As much as Statlander vs. Mone 3 would’ve undoubtedly been great, having Hayter win and advance was definitely the way to go here. We now have a full month to build this match and it has the potential to be one of the best women’s matches AEW has had coming up at Double or Nothing.)

Both tried to showcase their power early, but collided with a double shoulder tackle, neither budging. They shrugged it off, as Hayter sent Statlander crashing into the corner and followed with a dropkick off the second rope for a near fall. Statlander answered with a roll through sending Hayter face first into the corner, but was sent to the apron after a charge. Both ladies brawled on the apron, as Statlander caught a big boot, swept out the leg, wanted a moonsault, but Hayter stepped aside and Statlander crashed and burned into commercial break as Hayter dabbed the sweat from her brow.

We return to a slugfest, as during break it was an even back and forth. Statlander ducked an enzugiri into a German suplex for two. Dragon Sleeper applied with the body lock, but Hayter tilts into a pin attempt for two, ultimately escaping into a head scissors. Statlander powers to her feet and drops Hayter down face first before hitting a Meteora to the back of the head. Statlander wants Staturday Night Fever, but Hayter fired off a thrust kick and enzugiri. Hayter charges, but Statlander hit a pop-up powerbomb, rolls her through, but Hayter spun-out into a Hayt-breaker into the double down.

Statlander dodges Hayterade into a spinning suplex, as she went up top and hit the 450 Splash for a close two. Statlander went up the ropes again, but Hayter cut her off. Statlander tried to leap off, but Hayter got wrist control and leveled her with a lariat. A proper Hayter-ade took Statlander’s head off and Hayter got the win.

Post-match, the celebration was short, as Mercedes Mone walked to the stage next to the Owen Hart Foundation trophy. Mone posed and did her dance, as Hayter tried to get her to come to the ring, but Mone didn’t bite. Mone’s music cut and Hayter’s kicked in and the two stared each other down to close the show.

Match Result: Jamie Hayter defeated Kris Statlander to advance to the Finals

Young Bucks to wrestle first AEW match since October on Dynamite

The Young Bucks will return to the ring in AEW for the first time since October on next week’s Dynamite.

As revealed during Thursday’s Collision Spring BreakThru special, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks will face “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight in tag team action on the Wednesday, April 23 Dynamite in New Orleans.

The Bucks have not wrestled in an AEW ring since the October 30, 2024 Dynamite where they dropped the Tag Team titles to Private Party. The followed up their loss by making a storyline announcement that they were going home to work remotely as The Death Riders began their reign of terror across AEW.

The Young Bucks returned to AEW at Dynasty to attack Swerve Strickland in the main event World title match against Moxley of The Death Riders. The Bucks again got involved in a Death Riders match on Wednesday’s Dynamite Spring BreakThru, seemingly working in concert with the group as Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta defended the AEW Trios titles, but The Bucks were thwarted by Strickland.

Moxley addressed The Young Bucks on Thursday’s Collision, warning them to stay out of his business.

The Young Bucks wrestled twice for NJPW during their AEW hiatus — once in January at Wrestle Dynasty where they won the vacant IWGP Tag titles, and once in February at The New Beginning where they dropped the titles.

Already announced for Dynamite is an Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament semifinals matchup between Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander. The winner will face Mercedes Mone in the tournament finals at Double or Nothing in May.

The Dynamite lineup for next week:

AEW Dynamite, Wednesday, April 23 —

  • Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament semifinals: Kris Statlander vs. Jamie Hayter
  • The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight

The Young Bucks issue challenge to Bullet Club War Dogs for NJPW Resurgence

The Young Bucks are headed to Resurgence, and they aren’t coming alone.

Prior to the main event, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson appeared on the video screen. They said that they saw Bullet Club War Dogs weren’t booked yet for Resurgence, which takes place on May 9 in Ontario, California. They said they were down for a fight, but there were a lot of War Dogs and only two of them. Matthew then suggested they know “a couple of OG friends” that are always up for a fight, saying that would be “too sweet.”

The reference to “OG friends” is a strong hint that The Young Bucks may bring in Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows, former members of the Bullet Club during The Young Bucks’ run in NJPW. They were released from WWE back in February during a wave of WWE releases.

After taking a sabbatical from AEW, Nicholas and Matthew resurfaced last weekend at Dynasty, costing Swerve Strickland the AEW World title. On this week’s Dynamite, the two explained they attacked Swerve on behalf of their friend Hangman Page. They also expressed interest in associating with Jon Moxley, who they congratulated on successfully taking over AEW.

AEW Dynasty review: Matthew & Nicholas ruin everything

Those darn Young Bucks are back.

The main event of Dynasty saw Jon Moxley manage to walk away with the AEW Championship briefcase yet again. This time, it was thanks to the returning EVPs The Young Bucks, who laid out Swerve Strickland with the EVP trigger allowing Moxley to cover him for the win.

Unlike last month, this main event was pretty damn good, capping off another strong pay-per-view for AEW. It wasn’t brutal so much as it was gritty. There was a bit of blood, but it wasn’t a complete bloodbath like you would see in some Swerve matches. To their credit the crowd, who at that point had been watching wrestling for at least five hours, got into this match strongly especially after The Ops came out and chased away the Death Riders, realizing that for once, hey, someone may actually beat Moxley. Then the finish went down.

I get that this wasn’t a particularly well-recieved finish, and I would have loved to see Strickland emerge as champion. I would also love it if every Jon Moxley match didn’t end with House of Torture nonsense that I feel is infiltrating every wrestling promotion now. But I also understand that the long-term planning is for All In, AEW’s biggest show of the year. Moxley will very likely be champion heading into July. So for right now, the focus is on Moxley doing his shtick while the Owen Hart tournament unfolds.

This was a very long show and I think this is a good time to vent about AEW’s “for the sickos” booking. Look, I like AEW. I don’t make a living criticising them for the YouTube algorithm, this was a good show. Dynamite and Collision most weeks are fine, even good! But there are many times where I feel like they ask for too much of my time. They just announced a FOUR HOUR television block for June 4. They’re running 5 1/2 hour pay-per-views, and that isn’t including the 90 minute pre-show and the post-show where I’m hearing questions like “what is your favorite chicken wing” and “what is your Waffle House order” at 10 pm PST. I have a life, AEW. Please let me live it on days when you have shows.

The rest of the very long show. Which, for the record, was good!:

  • The best match on the show was Kenny Omega retaining the International title over Speedball Mike Bailey and Ricochet. These three went out there and busted their butts to have an excellent match. A ton of cool dives and innovative moves, ending when Omega pinned Ricochet with a One Winged Angel off the turnbuckle. This was also an excellent showcase for Bailey, who looked like a million bucks, though I have to question how his knees are doing after smashing them on the apron.
  • The Hurt Business retained their titles, defeating Big Bill and Bryan Keith. There was never a moment where I thought the challengers would win, and they didn’t. The key to this match was building towards whatever’s going on between MJF and the rest of the Hurt Business, attacking Bill in the crowd during a moment on the outside. Match itself was fine.
  • Adam Cole won the TNT title, defeating Daniel Garcia in a pretty good match, at least on a technical level. The crowd didn’t seem to care about the match or Cole’s title win. I’ve liked their series of matches in the last couple of weeks, but for whatever reason the crowd just wasn’t into them.
  • Bandido and Chris Jericho had a good match, with Bandido winning the ROH World title for a second time. I don’t know if I liked the false finish with Jericho pinning Bandido with the bat, but it did get reversed and we got a nice ending with Bandido celebrating with his family. It’s nice to have happy moments with family so everything worked out in the end.
  • Kyle Fletcher defeated Mark Briscoe in what I think was the second best match on the show. These two had a fantastic match on a recent episode of Collision and they followed that with this match, which was also excellent and very hard-hitting at times. Mark Briscoe is at a point in his career where he’ll be over no matter what as he’s such an engaging personality and always goes out there and delivers. Fletcher is someone special and should win the tournament, but I don’t feel like he will.
  • Death Riders kept their Trios titles, defeating Rated FTR. The match was pretty solid, but it will be remembered more for the post-match attack that saw both Cash and Dax attack Cope, giving him stuff piledrivers onto chairs and conchairtos, putting him out of action probably until All In. I wonder if they’re reuniting Cope with Christian, and after all of these years of Christian being a mega heel, how does he end up reuniting with Cope?
  • Timeless Toni Storm managed to walk away as the AEW Women’s Champion in a pretty good match, defeating Megan Bayne with a cradle. Whoever structured the match did a great job as I thought the strongest points of the match were Bayne looking like a monster kicking out of Storm’s strongest offense.
  • Mercedes Mone continued her streak of great matches by defeating Julia Hart. This didn’t start off hot, but by the final few minutes it was really great thanks to the crowd, who got super into the match, particularly for Hart. If Mone and Athena isn’t the All In match, I wonder if Mone is winning this and challenging Storm.
  • Will Ospreay opened the show by defeating Kevin Knight. I wish Knight didn’t take so many losses early in his AEW career as I think he’s a talented guy that they should take time getting over. But considering the kind of matches he’s had in the last couple of weeks, I think he’ll be fine. I wonder if this is the year that Ospreay wins the Owen and challenges Moxley, because if it’s anyone’s time to be the top babyface in the company, it’s either Ospreay or Strickland.
