AEW All In Texas, ‘Smashing Machine’ get HBO Max release dates

Image: A24

The January schedule for HBO Max has been released and with it has come dates for archive AEW content in addition to The Rock’s “The Smashing Machine”.

AEW’s biggest pay-per-view of 2025 — July’s All In: Texas — will hit the streaming service on Friday, January 16 — six months after it was held at Arlington’s Globe Life Field.

On Friday January 30, Dynamite and Rampage episodes from the summer of 2022 will hit the service as “an undisputed AEW World Champion is crowned, and a future World Champion makes his return.”

At this point, there appears to be no preemptions for live Dynamites and Collisions in January.

On Friday, January 23, Dwayne Johnson’s biopic on the life of former MMA star Mark Kerr will debut on the service after initially hitting theaters this past October. The A24 film struggled at the box office with just $20 million worldwide, but the film garnered Johnson and co-star Emily Blunt with Golden Globe nominations.

AEW All In Texas actual attendance revealed, state reimbursement reduced

A lower than expected turnout for July’s AEW All In from Arlington, Texas’ Globe Life Field will result in the company getting a reduced reimbursement from the state.

The news comes from public records obtained by Wrestlenomics that revealed the actual turnstile count (aka tickets scanned for those coming into the venue) at 21,973 which included 274 suite tickets out of 678 that were actually sold. Actual attendance in the venue was listed at 23,759 according to the documentation. While not specified, the difference could be arena workers and other personnel.

The total amount of tickets sold & distributed was not provided in the records. WrestleTix had previously estimated 27,245 as total distributed. Following the event, AEW head Tony Khan had said he thought the attendance was at nearly 29,000. In pre-show media, he said that All In was nearing the $3 million mark in gate revenue.

Why that scan count matters is the Texas Event Trust Fund which uses both state and local funding to help cover expenses for certain events coming into the state. AEW was set to receive $1 million in pre-approved funding based on a February estimated attendance of 33,490 with 32,500 of those being fans.

Arlington City Manager Trey Yelverton confirmed to Wrestlenomics in the report that AEW would end up receiving “around $700,000 in reimbursements” toward All In costs.

In the past, WWE has also received reimbursement from the same fund for events like WrestleMania.

Another interesting note from the full Wrestlenomics report had nearly 6300 fans coming to All In from outside Texas with just over 4600 fans coming from outside the Dallas/Arlington market. The residences of nearly 5300 fans could not be determined.

Additionally, documentation showed that there was originally both NJPW and CMLL events planned for All In week in addition to a Chris Jericho/Fozzy/Swerve Strickland combo concert that never happened.

Updated AEW All In Texas pay-per-view buys, where it places all-time

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, our Dave Meltzer provided an update on AEW All In: Texas pay-per-view buys and where it puts the July 2025 event in the company’s all-time record books.

Meltzer reported that the current estimate is between 180,000 to 185,000 for the Saturday, July 12th afternoon show. That was a slight uptick from the 175,000 estimated in the July 18th WON.

Top five AEW PPV buys all-time

That range which would put it third all-time in AEW history based on industry estimates, trailing 2021’s All Out (205,000 buys) and 2023’s All In (200,000 buys). 2024’s Revolution finished at an estimated 180,000 so All In: Texas is virtually identical or slightly ahead. 2022’s Revolution did an estimated 175,000 for fifth place.

All In: Texas gate, attendance & merchandise

In a previous WON, Meltzer confirmed the live gate for Globe Life Field exceeded $3 million, but didn’t have anything on specific attendance outside the 28,000-29,000 that Khan had said at the post-event press conference. After announcing a paid number for the first All In from Wembley Stadium, AEW has not provided an announced attendance of any kind for the following two All In events.

Meltzer reported the entire week brought in $1.2 million in merchandise sales ($725,000 for All In itself with the rest coming from the Starrcast convention).

AEW All In pay-per-view estimates, updated gate & merchandise numbers

Last Saturday’s AEW All In from Arlington, Texas, was a financially lucrative one for the company.

Dave Meltzer broke down some of the numbers in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter with a full breakdown of historical comparisons found in this week’s issue:

All In PPV buys

The estimated buys comprising digital and traditional buying methods are approximately at 175,000 which would put it fourth all-time in AEW history, trailing 2021’s All Out (205,000 buys), 2023’s All In (200,000 buys), and 2024’s Revolution (180,000). A final number won’t be known until the final settlement with cable & satellite operators per the norm.

Earlier this week, AEW head Tony Khan said it was the best performing PPV they have done on Amazon Prime in its short history, and that digital sales overall were “through the roof.”

All In merchandise sales

Meltzer reported the entire week brought in $1.2 million in merchandise sales which included $725,000 for All In itself with the rest coming from the Starrcast convention. The All In number is the largest ever for a non-WWE show in either U.S. or Canada, even accounting for inflation.

All In gate & attendance

Meltzer confirmed the live gate for Globe Life Field exceeded $3 million, but didn’t have anything on specific attendance outside the 28,000-29,000 that Khan had said at the post-event press conference. After announcing a paid number for the first All In from Wembley Stadium, AEW has not provided an announced attendance of any kind for the following two All In events.

The next All In will return to Wembley Stadium in August 2026.

Matt Jackson: All In will ‘probably be my biggest wrestling legacy’

The Young Bucks are proud of how far All In has come since they and Cody Rhodes promoted the first event in 2018.

For the first time since that inaugural show, All In returns stateside this Saturday. What started as a self-promoted event by The Elite has now become AEW’s biggest annual pay-per-view, twice being held at Wembley Stadium in London and now taking place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

All In has already solidified its place among the most historically important shows in wrestling history — and The Young Bucks know it will always be a key part of their legacy.

“From running that first event several years ago in Chicago, when getting 10,000 people into an arena sounded impossible, to seeing it grow into an annual stadium show, where this year we’ll have 20,000-plus fans in attendance, it really does blow my mind,” Matt Jackson told Uncrowned.

“I’m humbled to have had the pleasure to take part in this movement from the very beginning. To be able to say not only was I there, but I helped it all happen, that’ll probably be my biggest wrestling legacy. I get to perform on the show I helped create, in the company I am a founding father of, a company that has succeeded so much more than even I could have ever imagined, company that forever will be called Elite, long after I’m gone.”

Saturday’s event will see Matt and his brother Nick Jackson take on Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay in a tag team match. If The Young Bucks win, neither Strickland nor Ospreay can challenge for the AEW World Championship for the next year. But if Strickland & Ospreay win, The Young Bucks lose their on-screen titles as executive vice presidents.

The Young Bucks told Uncrowned that they have enjoyed working their EVP titles into their TV personas, with Nick saying that “people actually think we’re bad human beings because we play these characters pretty dang good.” Matt feels they still have a lot left to explore if they win on Saturday.

“It really has been incredibly fun leaning in on all the things people accuse us of being. I remember back in the beginning, arguing with someone that going public about having a major job title in the company is probably a bad idea if we want to be cheered ever again as wrestlers,” Matt said.

“So using it in this way all these years later has definitely made the most sense. It’s for sure helped us garner more heat, and given us a new tool to work with the last couple of years on screen. I think there’s so much left to explore too, shall we have that opportunity to do so.”

All In’s pre-show will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday with the main card then starting at 3 p.m. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Mone, and International Champion Kenny Omega vs. Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada are the three top matches set for the show.

FTR vs. The Outrunners set for AEW All In Zero Hour

FTR and The Outrunners will rematch at AEW All In Zero Hour.

In a return bout from last Saturday’s Collision episode, FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler will face Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum of The Outrunners on this Saturday’s All In Zero Hour pre-show.

FTR defeated The Outrunners on last week’s show in a critically-acclaimed bout.

Jim Ross confirms he’ll be at AEW All In

Jim Ross is officially making the trip to Texas for AEW All In 2025.

On his Grilling JR podcast, the 73-year-old Ross confirmed that he’ll make his return to AEW at the Saturday, July 12 pay-per-view. Returning for All In was Ross’ goal after undergoing colon cancer surgery in May. That surgery was a success, and Ross is feeling “pretty damn good” now that his cancer is gone.

While in Texas, Ross will also be a guest at the Starrcast convention on the eve of the PPV.

“Oh, absolutely, absolutely,” Ross responded when asked if he’ll be at All In. “Yeah, I’ll be there. I want to fly in on Thursday and do our business on Friday. And then I’ll be at the pay-per-view on Saturday.”

Ross is back making convention appearances but will have to miss a scheduled booking at Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, Tennessee due to it taking place on the same weekend as All In.

There have been numerous health challenges Ross has had to face over the last few years, but he’s hoping that the worst is behind him now. The most difficult part of his colon cancer battle was the fear of whether things would work out or not.

“I think fear is the biggest enemy. I have good doctors here in Jacksonville, so that all worked out fine. So I’m just very blessed that I’ve got past the worst part,” Ross said. “So as we stand here now and you and I are talking to our fans and stuff, I’m very happy that I’m where I am health-wise. I’m lucky, very lucky. So — it’s all good, man. You just got to stay positive and move forward. And that’s what I’ve tried to do. Even though there were days where I was wondering if this was meant to be. But, obviously, it is meant to be. Here I am. Here we are. So let’s get on with it.”

In AEW, the legendary Ross’ role is to provide commentary for PPV events. He doesn’t know which matches he’ll be calling at All In, but he would like to be on commentary for Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega.

MJF wins second spot in men’s Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In

Image: AEW

MJF is officially number two after the events of AEW Dynamite.

The former AEW World Champion earned the second spot in the men’s Casino Gauntlet match at next Saturday’s AEW All In: Texas, guaranteeing him the opportunity to compete for a future World title shot.

MJF submitted AR Fox in a four-way that also included Anthony Bowens and Brody King.

He now will take on Mark Briscoe who earned the top spot on last week’s Dynamite after having a verbal confrontation with MJF. They two exchanged words again this week with Briscoe challenging MJF to an in-ring confrontation next week.

While Kris Statlander holds the top spot in the women’s gauntlet, a match for the second spot has yet to be announced.

Young Bucks vs. Strickland & Ospreay set for AEW All In with dual stipulations

Image: AEW

A high-profile tag team match is now official for AEW All In: Texas with dual stipulations for both the Young Bucks and Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay.

After Strickland and Ospreay issued a challenge last Wednesday for the Jackson brothers to put their executive vice president titles on the line, the two never gave an answer. On this week’s Dynamite, Strickland and Ospreay ran out after the Bucks’ match to demand an answer.

The Jacksons said they didn’t accept because Strickland and Ospreay weren’t putting anything on the line. Ospreay then took a few seconds and suggested their own stipulation: that if he and Strickland lost, neither man can challenge for the AEW World title for one year. Strickland didn’t initially care for that, but eventually agreed after the Bucks’ chiding of them.

Strickland earlier clarified that they would not be taking over as EVPs if they won as they want to give that honor back to the people.

Texas Death Match rules added to AEW All In World title bout

Next Saturday’s AEW World title match between champion Jon Moxley and Hangman Page at AEW All In: Texas will now be a bit more violent than expected.

Made on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, the Moxley vs. Page title bout will now be a Texas Death Match, a rematch from more than two years ago.

Page opened the show by issuing the challenge to Moxley after the events of last Wednesday when Page was choked out by a chain amid a Death Riders attack. This week, he said to bring on The Elite and Death Riders or give him death: a Texas Death Match. Moxley came out and initially turned him down, challenging Page’s manhood and saying he was going to lose because he didn’t want to win.

Moxley said Page wouldn’t survive it and it wouldn’t be something he’d walk away from. The two then began to brawl before Page pulled out a fork. Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir and Claudio Castagnoli then attacked Page and left him laying. Page called out Castagnoli as a b*tch afterward for the attack and The Opps backed Page up as the Death Riders slinked away.

Shafir attempted to hit Page with a briefcase, but Page grabbed the case instead and told Moxley to give him the match as he had something he wanted. A fired up Moxley then agreed, followed by Page hitting the Buckshot lariat on Shafir as payback.

Among their extensive rivalry was a Texas Death Match at March 2023’s Revolution that Page won (seen above). Page is 4-1 all-time in his speciality match while Moxley is 1-2.

AEW All In to set non-WWE North American records

With just over two weeks to go, July’s AEW All In: Texas has already set one non-WWE North American with another right behind it.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the Saturday, July 12th pay-per-view from Globe Life Field in Arlington is currently around a $2.5 million gate with 19,000 paid tickets out — a non-WWE North American record gate record and a record for the largest paid attendance for a non-WWE PPV show ever in North America.

The gate has already exceeded June 2023’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in Toronto, Canada, which brought in $1.25 million which Meltzer said was already the largest non-WWE wrestling gate ever in North America.

It is also shouting distance from becoming the largest non-WWE attendance for a PPV in North American history. The record is currently held by WCW Slamboree in May 1999 which drew 20,516 at the TWA Dome (now The Dome at America’s Center) in St. Louis, Missouri.

Regardless of where the gate ends up, it will be the third-largest in AEW history, trailing 2023’s All In from Wembley Stadium ($10 million) and 2024’s All In from Wembley Stadium (over $6 million).

Omega vs. Okada AEW All In double title match official

One of professional wrestling’s all-time-great rivalries will be renewed at AEW All In Texas.

As announced during Wednesday’s Fyter Fest, AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada will face AEW International Champion Kenny Omega at All In in a “winner takes all” double title match.

The title for title matchup at All In will mark the first time that Omega and Okada have squared off in a singles match since their two out of three falls match at NJPW Dominion in June 2018, widely considered the best pro wrestling match of all time.

Omega retained the International title in a four-way on Wednesday’s Fyter Fest, then Okada came to the ring in the post-match to confront Omega. The two posed with their title belts holding them aloft, then Tony Schiavone officially announced the All In bout on Tony Khan’s behalf later in the program.

In addition to their Dominion 2018 bout, Omega and Okada had a trilogy of bouts in 2017 at Wrestle Kingdom 11, Dominion, and in the G1 Climax tournament. They split those meetings 1-1-1, with Okada winning at Wrestle Kingdom, a 60-minute time limit draw at Dominion, and Omega scoring a win in the G1.
