Hurt Syndicate return on AEW Collision and are ‘in the market for some new talent’

The Hurt Syndicate made their surprise return to AEW TV Thursday as part of Collision with some big news: Bobby Lashley is ready to return and they want to grow their group.

Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP appeared in a pre-taped promo on the broadcast (seen below) where it was revealed by MVP that Lashley has been cleared, something Lashley himself revealed in a late-February interview.

MVP also said the trio are “in the market for some new talent and add someone to the ranks.” Their return date was not announced.

Lashley said in the aforementioned interview that he wasn’t hurt, but that was the reported reason for his absence since last November’s Full Gear when he and Benjamin were part of the inaugural National title gauntlet match.

Benjamin has also been used sparingly since then, wrestling three matches — the last coming in a January defeat to Jon Moxley in a Continental title eliminator.

MVP shares positive update on Hurt Syndicate’s AEW return

MVP shared a positive update on The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW return.

He posted on X that the group is back together and will make their AEW comeback soon.

“The coolest thing is that we are back together in @AEW and we’ll be back in action SOON! Hurting people!!!” tweeted MVP.

In a December 2025 edition of Collision, MVP announced that Bobby Lashley was injured but the details and nature of the injury remained undisclosed. During the recovery period, Lashley addressed potentially targeting the AEW World Championship upon his return.

Lashley’s last match was at Full Gear the month earlier in a Casino Gauntlet match for the AEW National Championship.

Meanwhile, Shelton Benjamin competed in the  Dynamite Diamond Ring 2025 Battle Royal and AEW Continental Title Eliminator against Jon Moxley.

In the second half of 2025, the group was also in pursuit of the AEW Trios Championship but were defeated by The Opps in October. In January last year, Lashley and Benjamin captured the AEW Tag Team Titles, which also marked their first championship reign on the promotion.

Benjamin, Lashley and MVP made their AEW debut in September 2024 as The Hurt Syndicate, a revamped version of their WWE faction, The Hurt Business.

Shelton Benjamin clears up fan concern over AEW Dynamite entrance

Taking to social media last night, Shelton Benjamin cleared up the concern his AEW Dynamite entrance caused.

Benjamin faced off against Jon Moxley in the opening match of Wednesday’s Dynamite episode. When Benjamin entered for the bout, the camera shot looked like he was emotional and may have been crying. Fans questioned what was going on, but Benjamin clarified that he was not emotional at all. The apparent tears on his face were just water that he had poured on his head.

“Thanks for the concern Fans you are greatly appreciated but, i dont do emotional, I hurt Hurt people,” Benjamin tweeted. “However before i enter an arena i do pour water on my head that tends to drip.”

Moxley vs. Benjamin was a Continental Championship eliminator match. If Benjamin won or took the match to its 20-minute time limit, he would have earned a shot at Moxley’s title. Benjamin came close, but Moxley countered a triangle choke into a pin and got the three count with only a few seconds remaining in the match.

At AEW Worlds End, Moxley became the Continental Champion by defeating Kazuchika Okada in the Continental Classic tournament finals. He’s defeated Benjamin and Josh Alexander in eliminator matches during his reign.

Scorpio Sky not medically cleared to compete on AEW Collision

Scorpio Sky was not medically cleared to compete ahead of his scheduled match against Shelton Benjamin on Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Just a few minutes before the show began, AEW president Tony Khan shared the announcement on social media and proceeded to name Sky’s replacement for the show in SkyFlight teammate Dante Martin who later went on to have an impressive bout with the former WWE star, albeit in defeat.

Scorpio last wrestled on the December 6 edition of ROH on HonorClub as part of an eight-man tag team match. It’s unknown if Sky has an injury or was pulled for another reason.

MVP and Shelton Benjamin send a warning to Jon Moxley

Just moments after defeating Dante Martin on Collision, MVP and Benjamin shared a warning for Jon Moxley ahead of their match.

“I want you to know, I know that you like pain. You like to bleed all over the place like a wild animal, like a rabid dog. But you are not the apex predator. Shelton Benjamin is. Wednesday night on Dynamite, you will get punched, you will get kicked, you will get kneed in your jaw, you will get tossed around like a sack of dirty laundry. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. You are a dangerous man, I give you credit. But this man [points to Shelton Benjamin] is way more dangerous than you, Jon Moxley.”

MVP announces one Hurt Syndicate member is injured, another will be on AEW Dynamite

Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Bobby Lashley is injured according to faction spokesman and member MVP.

He announced the news during Saturday’s AEW Collision from Cardiff, Wales, but didn’t give any details as to the injury or when is was sustained.

The 49-year-old last competed at last month’s AEW Full Gear as part of the Casino gauntlet bout to determine the inaugural National Champion.

MVP also revealed that Shelton Benjamin will participate in the Dynamite Diamond battle royal set for this Wednesday in Manchester, England. As has been the case in the past, the two remaining wrestlers will compete the following week to determine who will challenge the only man who has ever held the ring since 2019: MJF, assumed to be at Worlds End.

It will be the first time Benjamin enters the fray for the Dynamite Diamond ring.

AEW Holiday Bash Dynamite lineup | Manchester, England | This Wednesday

  • The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita & Hechicero) with $1 million at stake
  • Dynamite Diamond battle royal

Clarification on awkward Shelton Benjamin vs. Mike Bailey AEW Dynamite finish

On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez explained what happened with the awkward Shelton Benjamin vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey finish from last night’s AEW Dynamite.

The closing stretch of the Benjamin vs. Bailey match included a spot where Benjamin delivered a superkick and went for the pin, but the referee stopped counting despite Bailey’s shoulders still being down. They then continued on with the match, which ended with Benjamin getting the win with a German suplex, a knee strike, and another superkick.

Some fans thought Bailey was injured from the initial kick, but that was not the case. Benjamin tried to call an audible and end the match with the first kick because he thought it looked so cool that it should be the finish. The referee was not on the same page and there was a miscommunication.

“As it turns out, everybody is fine,” Alvarez said. “What essentially happened is — the finish was going to be a superkick. So Shelton ends up shooting him in or whatever. And he hits this kick, and Speedball just takes this incredible full-flip bump and it looks like he’s dead. So Shelton decides it ain’t going to get better than that. And so Shelton calls the audible — this is the finish. Apparently the ref didn’t hear him, and so the ref stops the count because that wasn’t actually supposed to be the finish.

“So you could say it’s the referee’s fault, you could say it’s Shelton’s fault. You can’t say it’s Speedball’s fault, he just laid there like he was supposed to. So, anyway, that’s what happened. It was a miscommunication. And then when the referee stopped [counting], they just went on and did the actual finish. But, no, he did not get concussed by the kick or anything like that. There was no injury involved. It was just, Shelton thought a move looked really cool and that they should just go to the finish right there.”

Benjamin’s victory earned him one of the first two spots in the Casino Gauntlet Match at Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view. He’ll start the gauntlet off against his Hurt Syndicate stablemate Bobby Lashley.

The winner of the gauntlet becomes the inaugural AEW National Champion.

First Casino Gauntlet entrants set for AEW Full Gear

The first two Casino Gauntlet match entrants for AEW Full Gear are now official.

In less than a week, All Elite Wrestling is set to host the much-awaited Casino Gauntlet match for the newly announced National Championship. In the opening match for tonight’s November 19th edition of Dynamite, Bobby Lashley quickly defeated Ricochet to finalise himself as the Casino Gauntlet match’s first entrant. Shortly after, the second entrant of the match was confirmed as well.

Toward the second hour of the show, Shelton Benjamin defeated Speedball Bailey in a closely fought match. Both men took each other to their limits before Benjamin sealed the win with a German Suplex, running knee, and a superkick.

Benjamin’s victory means both members of The Hurt Syndicate will start the Casino Gauntlet match later this week on November 22nd, to crown the new National Champion. More participants will join the Casino Gauntlet match as it progresses, and the match can end at any time, even before all the entrants have appeared.

Grudge match headlining final AEW Dynamite of 2300 Arena residency

Image: AEW

AEW World Champion Hangman Page takes on Josh Alexander in a non-title grudge match on this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite as their residency at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena comes to an end.

The news was announced on Saturday’s Collision, punctuated by an in-ring promo by Alexander who was accompanied by Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher then called Page out for a World title match at this month’s All Out.

The two squared off in Alexander’s surprise AEW debut this summer in the opening round of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. It’s their only singles match in the four times they have shared the ring all-time.

In another new addition to the card, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will team with Emi Sakura to battle past title challenger Alex Windsor and Riho. The latter will challenge Mone for the title at this month’s All Out. Sakura was Riho’s teacher, hence her inclusion. It will be her first AEW match since December 2024 and Riho’s first AEW match since July 2024.

Also announced Saturday was Shelton Benjamin vs. Ricochet as the build to their trios match at All Out continues. It will be their first singles match since 2019 on a WWE house show.

Shelton Benjamin responds to Hulk Hogan calling him ‘Benjamin Shelton’

After Hulk Hogan called him by the wrong name multiple times in interviews, Shelton Benjamin has issued a response.

A clip has been circulating on social media today with Hogan calling Benjamin by the name “Benjamin Shelton” while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show and speaking with TMZ Sports. The latter was to promote Hogan and Eric Bischoff’s new Real American Freestyle organization — and Hogan named Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and “Benjamin Shelton” as some of the amateur wrestlers who have found success in pro wrestling.

In response, Benjamin tweeted the following and accompanied it with a GIF of Will Smith saying “keep my name out of your f*cking mouth.”

“Message to @HulkHogan. You lost me forever with your ‘don’t get caught’ …or as you would call it ‘apology’ speech,” Benjamin wrote. “So rather than screw up my name and pretend we ever had any sort of camaraderie which we never had. Please do me a favor & [keep my name out of your f*cking mouth]”

Benjamin is referencing a speech Hogan gave to the WWE locker room in 2018 when he was reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame. That was Hogan’s return to the company following a 2015 racism scandal where — on a leaked tape from years prior — Hogan used the n-word multiple times and admitted to being “racist, to a point.” Hogan’s speech to the locker room included him urging them to be careful because everyone has cell phones and cameras now, and some people took it as Hogan being more concerned with being caught than being remorseful for his actions. Hogan has said he believes that’s an incorrect interpretation of his apology.

Benjamin was released by WWE in 2023 and has since joined AEW, where he holds the AEW Tag Team titles with Bobby Lashley. Their Hurt Syndicate associate MVP also responded to the clip of Hogan getting Benjamin’s name wrong.

“Pathological lying piece of human excrement,” MVP tweeted.

The Hurt Syndicate explain goals for AEW run

The Hurt Syndicate don’t want to just elevate young talent in AEW — they’re hoping to make some true stars.

Appearing on a live episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet that was recorded last month and uploaded today, MVP said he, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin understand this is their last run. Before their careers end, they want to identify the right young talent in AEW and help make them stars.

“When we decided that we were going to get the band back together, we knew that — realistically speaking — this is the last ride. This is it. This is our last run and then we’re going to ride off into the sunset,” MVP said. “Even though we’re in tremendous shape, we are still in our later years. The whole idea with what we want to do on our way out the door is make some stars. And it’s one thing just to put guys over. No, that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about trying to take some of the equity that we’ve built up through the years and now reestablish that equity at AEW. And then when the time is right, with the right young talent, transfer that equity and make somebody.”

Benjamin reiterated that, while he wants to help elevate people, he still has the goal of being a World Champion in a prominent company before he retires.

“I’m working every day to make sure that dream stays alive,” Benjamin said.

Lashley responded “yes” when Van Vliet asked if he sees another World Championship in his own future.

MVP — the manager of The Hurt Syndicate — said he’s not retired from the ring yet and still has a little bit left. His one match for AEW so far was a six-man tag match that took place earlier this year. MVP said he felt good in the ring during that match.

The current AEW Tag Team Champions, Lashley & Benjamin have held the belts since January. They voiced praise for Private Party, The Gunns, and The Outrunners during the Insight episode. MVP noted that he was looking forward to Lashley & Benjamin facing Brian Cage & Lance Archer before plans for that match were derailed by Cage suffering an injury.

Shelton Benjamin reveals AEW contract length, praises Kyle Fletcher & Komander

Hurt Syndicate member Shelton Benjamin will be with AEW for at least the next few years.

During an appearance on the Huge Pop podcast with Donnie DaSilva and former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas, Benjamin responded “three years” when asked how long he’s signed to AEW for. Benjamin debuted for the promotion in October 2024 and currently holds the AEW Tag Team titles with Bobby Lashley.

Benjamin & Lashley retained their belts over Big Bill & Bryan Keith at AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view last weekend. The former Hurt Business (Benjamin, Lashley & MVP) has reunited in AEW — and Cedric Alexander recently expressed interest in joining his old stablemates as well now that he’s been released by WWE. Benjamin played coy when Huge Pop asked about a potential reunion with Alexander.

“If I were a betting man? I feel like I’m the house so I can’t reveal [laughs],” Benjamin responded.

The 49-year-old Benjamin had praise for all of the talent in AEW but named Kyle Fletcher and Komander as two people he sees potential in and would like to mentor outside the ring. Benjamin compared them to his former WWE co-workers Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio.

“Number one: Kyle Fletcher. When I look at Kyle Fletcher, his work, his attitude, and even how in the last few weeks he’s actually gotten — he’s kind of bulked up a little. He doesn’t look like a kid from two years ago. I get Randy Orton vibes from Kyle Fletcher,” Benjamin said. “I think he has that kind of potential, and my match with him only solidified that.

“So he’s number one on my, ‘This is the guy you want to build your company around.’ Another guy I’m really, I’m a huge fan of him. I definitely think he needs to learn more American psychology, but for what I’ve done with him, he was amazing: Komander. I feel like Komander has the ability to be the next Rey Mysterio.”

Fletcher defeated Benjamin when they faced off in the 2024 Continental Classic , while Benjamin defeated Komander when they faced off last November.

    • Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship
    • IYO SKY vs. Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship
    • AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul
  • Cody Rhodes told Fox News Digital that he believes John Cena and Randy Orton should immediately go into the WWE Hall of Fame when their careers are over:
    • I feel like there are certain people who should immediately go into the Hall of Fame when they’re done wrestling, and love him, hate him or indifferent, John Cena would check a box as somebody who should immediately go into the Hall of Fame. Also, Randy Orton should check a box as somebody who should immediately go into the Hall of Fame.
  • Rhodes also reiterated that he believes his brother Dustin is deserving of a place in the Hall of Fame:
    • And I’ve oftentimes said my brother. I feel like he had more if an important role in the Attitude Era and moving forward. And I think he’s extremely talented. I think I’d like to see that not just because I believe he deserves it, which he does, but I’d love to see the family just more added. The Hall of Fame doesn’t mean the same to everybody if that makes any sense. To my family, the Hall of Fame is the thing – the title and then the Hall of Fame.
    • My dad going in was such a huge deal. So, I’d love to see him joined by my brother. But yeah, Randy is somebody I’ve been thinking about a lot too. We got a lot of hopefully future Hall of Famers with us.

AEW/Other Wrestling

  • It was announced on Dynamite last night that Hurt Syndicate member Shelton Benjamin missed the show due to travel issues. He sent out a message on Instagram apologizing to all of the fans for not being there. Benjamin said his day started at 6 a.m. but he wasn’t able to make it to his hotel in Peoria, Illinois until around 11 p.m.
  • Benjamin wrote:
    • To the @aew fans of Peoria [Illinois] i offer my sincere apologies. As a professional I pride myself on always showing up and showing out where advertised by Aew. Unfortunately despite Aew staff and my best efforts I was unable to make it to Peoria in time for tonight’s @aew Dynamite due to Major weather related flight delays. Please know I am just as disappointed as some of you may be and will take steps to avoid a repeat of this unfortunate situation in the future. Again my apologies and together we will hurt people next time
  • GCW Tag Team Champions Violence is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) appeared as extras on Dynamite, playing security guards in the backstage segment with Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page.
  • This week’s AEW Unrestricted podcast is a Dynasty preview episode featuring an appearance by “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
  • Noelle Foley made a post on her Instagram stories yesterday saying that she was flying home to see her father Mick, who was thankfully able to avoid catastrophic injury in a scary car accident. Mick Foley suffered a concussion, has soft tissue damage, and is sore but said he feels really fortunate that the situation isn’t worse. He still plans on making all of his scheduled appearances that are coming up.
  • Noelle wrote:
    • Flying home to see my dad right now. Thanks to those of you who reached out. I’ve honestly been an emotional wreck these past 24 hours, but I am just so thankful and grateful that he is ‘okay.’ I put okay in parentheses because he is very banged up and in a great deal of pain and had a concussion, which we all know can be very tricky and symptoms can be delayed after the injury. So I’ve been frantically worried about him, but just very happy I’ll be landing soon and seeing him shortly.

For anybody wondering what happened, my dad was in a bad car accident. No it wasn’t an April fools joke. My dad would never joke about a car accident or a concussion. Every time I see this picture I get so emotional. It’s a miracle he was able to walk away from this.
  • On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Samoa Joe listed AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Abyss, and Jeff Jarrett as his Mount Rushmore of TNA wrestlers.
  • Babyface v. Heel first reported that indie wrestler/trainer Chasyn Rance, a designated sex offender under Florida law, was arrested this week for violating the terms of his offender registration: “Chasyn Rance was arrested [Wednesday] for violating terms of his sex offender registration. Specifically, the Orange County Jail says he failed to report changes in vehicle ownership, failed to report an ‘internet ID, web page, or app name’ 2x, & provided false registration info 3x”

Injury caused change in plans for AEW Dynasty Tag Team title match

An injury to Brian Cage led to a change in plans for AEW’s upcoming Dynasty pay-per-view.

In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin are scheduled to defend their AEW Tag Team titles against Big Bill & Bryan Keith at the Sunday, April 6 PPV in Philadelphia. It was originally supposed to be Cage & Lance Archer challenging for the belts, but Cage is dealing with a knee injury.

“The tag title match was a change as Brian Cage suffered a knee injury on an independent show on 3/20 in Los Angeles against Chris Masters,” Meltzer wrote. “So the originally planned but not announced Hurt Syndicate vs. Murder Machines match had to be changed and they had to pivot to new challengers, going with Bill & Keith.”

The build to Lashley & Benjamin vs. Big Bill & Keith began with a confrontation on Dynamite this week. After a challenge was issued, The Hurt Syndicate told Big Bill & Keith that they’ll need to win a match before they’ll be granted a title shot.

Big Bill & Keith vs. Top Flight is taking place on AEW Collision this Saturday.

Lashley & Benjamin were crowned the new AEW Tag Team Champions when they defeated Private Party this January. Big Bill is a former tag champ, holding the titles with Ricky Starks from October 2023 to February 2024.

A match between Cage and Rich Swann was scheduled for Future Stars of Wrestling’s Chris Bey benefit show on March 23, but Ricochet ended up facing Swann instead.

The Hurt Syndicate crowned new AEW Tag Team Champions

Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin are the new AEW Tag Team Champions.

The Hurt Syndicate (Lashley & Benjamin) defeated Private Party’s Zay and Quen on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite to become the new AEW Tag Team Champions.

Lashley pinned Zay after a spear to secure the title victory for The Hurt Syndicate, ending the first AEW Tag title reign for Private Party at just shy of three months.

Benjamin made his AEW debut on the October 2, 2024 Dynamite alongside MVP. Lashley debuted for the company four weeks later. Lashley remains undefeated in AEW to this point in his first six matches.

Between WWE, ROH, and now AEW, Benjamin is a six-time tag team title holder, while Wednesday’s victory marked the first career tag title win for Lashley in a major promotion.

Wednesday’s Dynamite kicked off with Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega agreeing to team up at Grand Slam Australia next month, then The Hurt Syndicate’s title victory.

Our ongoing live play-by-play for this week’s Dynamite is available here.

Shelton Benjamin calls AEW run ‘a bit of a career resurgence’

Shelton Benjamin says he is surprised at how well his AEW run is going thus far.

Benjamin was Chris Jericho’s guest for the latest episode of Talk is Jericho and said he wasn’t sure how AEW’s fanbase would respond to him when he signed with the company. However, Benjamin says that his time in AEW thus far has led to him having a “bit of a career resurgence.

Benjamin said:

“I’m having a blast. I’m having, I feel like, a bit of a career resurgence. I wasn’t really expecting it to go as well as it is. I’m constantly being surprised. First of all, by the fans of AEW because with all the, to me, unnecessary tribalism in professional wrestling, I never knew how I was going to be viewed, especially with most of my history being WWE.”

“Sometimes some people just don’t like that. There are some people that, I’m pretty sure, are never going to like me no matter what I do, and they are always going to see that guy who, in my opinion, WWE misused a lot.”

Benjamin continued to praise the wrestlers he’s had a chance to work with thus far in AEW.

“Everybody I’ve worked with has been so incredibly cooperative, amazing, helpful. The talent speaks for itself. So, I’m really enjoying my time here right now,” Benjamin continued.

Benjamin also noted during the interview that even though all three members of The Hurt Syndicate happen to be Black, the stable’s doors are open to anyone.

“I’d like to point out that, clearly, anyone looking at us, yes, we’re three Black men,” Benjamin said. “We were businessmen who just happened to be Black.”

“We are not an all-Black group,” he continued. “We’re just a group that just happens to be all Black. Our doors are open to anyone. It’s the Hurt Business. You can’t have a business unless everyone’s included.”

Benjamin continued to describe what led to The Hurt Business leaving WWE and ending up as The Hurt Syndicate in AEW.

“For whatever reason, (Vince McMahon) decided that the money was with Bobby and (MVP) as his manager, and he was just going to be done with The Hurt Business. And we’ve never got a straight answer as to why.”

“In my opinion, The Hurt Business and Roman Reigns carried the WWE during the pandemic era, and I felt a bit betrayed because I come here every week, I’ve never complained, I risk my life just like everybody else, and when other people wanted to stay home, you never had to question whether or not I’d come to work.”

“For (Vince) to just immediately turn around and just kill it, I was like, ‘What the f–k man?’ His comment to me was, ‘We’ve gone as far as we can with The Hurt Business.’ And The Hurt Business was around eight months before he pulled the plug. When he said that, it was almost like you want to cry inside because nothing I can do for this person seems to help. Nothing’s good enough. I was really just insulted, and I knew then, like, ‘I don’t really have a future here.’ At this point, this is just a job where I’m just collecting a check. I want to care.”

“After that, I was pretty much just showing up to work, collecting a check.”

Benjamin is coming off a 6-point performance in the Continental Classic, which included a loss in his long-awaited first-ever singles match against Kazuchika Okada. Along with his Hurt Syndicate teammate Bobby Lashley, Benjamin is scheduled to challenge Private Party for the AEW World Tag Team Championships on tonight’s episode of Dynamite.

Benjamin’s full appearance on Talk is Jericho is available below:
