WWE NXT Battleground live results: Ethan Page & Jordynne Grace challenge for championships

WWE NXT will debut from Las Vegas’ UFC Apex for tonight’s Battleground: an event that will see both Ethan Page and Jordynne Grace challenge for NXT titles.

After making his surprise on-screen debut two weeks ago, Page will attempt to dethrone reigning NXT Champion Trick Williams who is looking for his first title defense.

Grace, the reigning TNA Knockouts Champion, will challenge NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez in an effort to become a two-company champion. Perez is looking for her fourth title defense in her second reign.

The first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion will be crowned in a six-way ladder match between Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, Michin and Kelani Jordan.

Men’s North American Champion Oba Femi will defend against Wes Lee and Joe Coffey in a three-way while Nathan Frazer & Axiom will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against The O.C. (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson).

In an NXT Underground match, Shayna Baszler will battle Lola Vice.

*********

The show opened with Sexyy Red greeting the fans and proceeding to twerk until a video package for the event played.

Kelani Jordan defeated Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker and Michin in a ladder match to become the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion

Ruca and Parker entered, confident and ready to go. Michin followed suit and she was a crowd favorite; for as intimate a setting as this was, the fans popped for her. Henley emerged with a spotted fur coat. The crowd came alive for Legend, who entered in a stunning tiara while Jordan smiled her way to the ring.

Henley instantly targeted Ruca while Legend and Jordan battled. Outside, Michin and Parker played tug-of-war with a ladder. Parker not only lost, but also fell off of the commentary table. Ruca introduced a ladder into the match and then was joined by Jordan. However, both were hampered by Legend and Henley. Ruca and Jordan then took to the skies to incapacitate Parker and Legend.

After Parker was flattened after taking out Jordan and Legend with a ladder, Henley evened the field and attempted to climb a ladder but Parker, back on her feet, bounced on Jordan to rapturous applause. Legend was denied a climb herself by Michin. Jordan and Henley assisted, further hampering Lash as she tried to climb again.

Ruca sent Parker face-first into the ladder and Henley did the same, finding herself the only woman standing. Henley, Parker, and Jordan each grappled atop the ladders, but Legend swiftly sent them plummeting and was almost flipped off the ladder by Ruca.

Sensing the impending dominant threat of Legend, every woman present in the match pried her from the ladder and tossed her into a ladder on the outside. Every woman for herself and each competitor traded offense until the dust was settled.

After dispatching Michin with a split-legged moonsault, Jordan climbed the ladder and grabbed the title, celebrating cheerfully at the summit of the ladder.

This was a great showcase of what each woman brings to the table. In particular, the standouts of this ladder match were Michin, Ruca, and Jordan. This gave time to talented women and informed fans who could be the big workhorse players in the North American title scene as it stands currently.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom defeated The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) to retain

Cocky and tall, Gallows and Anderson entered the ring, now heels after AJ Styles’s assault on Cody Rhodes during SmackDown the week before. The champions in Axiom and Frazer charged swiftly in their urgent entrance.

Frazer and Axiom took turns on Anderson, who initially put up a good defense, but had to give Gallows the hot tag. This giant readily handled Frazer and Axiom, giving “The Machine Gun” enough time to recuperate. Once he did, Anderson swung for the fences until he made the tag. Back in the ring, Gallows would fall victim to a quick DDT from Axiom. Anderson would play defense again, but Frazer proved too fast, almost having a nearfall pin on Anderson.

Gallows and Anderson let loose a Magic Killer on Frazer to another nearfall. The tough and gritty veterans weren’t as speedy as the champions, so they had to play any strategy in their playbook to bring out their strengths. They almost lost their chance for gold as Axiom nearly squeezed the almost purple Gallows to sleep.

Felling the looming Gallows on the outside, the champs worked in tandem as Axiom planted Anderson with a super Spanish Fly, punctuated perfectly by Frazer’s flip off the top rope for the pin and win.

Frazer and Axiom’s speed was their greatest asset, which made for exciting moments in the match. Anderson continued his career renaissance as an all-rounder, and Gallows worked as the heavy enforcer he’s been known as. There was no coasting and each team contrasted each other well in a fairly decent match.

– Josh Briggs, Carlee Bright, and Dante Chen vignettes played. Briggs was serious and nostalgic, Bright’s rich and vibrancy gave insight into her character, and Chen vowed to make his matches matter.

Lola Vice defeated Shayna Baszler in an NXT Underground match

Baszler made her way to the ring in her gi and black belt into the ring’s ropeless canvas, and Vice followed suit, also in her gi and black belt under a red robe. True to its GCW Bloodsport origin, the feeling of the Underground gimmick was exciting as talent surrounded the mat, pounding it like drums into the Las Vegas night. The crowd of fans beyond the barricade was into it, further amplified by the percussions of the talent surrounding the ring slapping their hands on the mat.

Baszler worked the limbs of Vice, sending agony coursing through her veins. There was no dancing out of this. Vice powered out, sending Baszler into the turnbuckle post, then transitioning the “Queen of Spades” into a tight hold. The life being choked out of her, Baszler propelled herself and Vice into the crowd of talent outside. With a breath of fresh air, she was on top of Vice, battering her aggressively on the commentary table. Baszler tried a running knee to Vice on the commentary table, but Vice eluded her and proceeded to work her knee. Bending and contorting her former partner’s knee, Lola took advantage of any shot she could put in.

Resilient, Baszler grappled back and forth with Vice. After an unsuccessful Kirafuda clutch, she went for the Big Knee first and then again before Vice sent her outside. Following a rampage on the crowd of people outside the ring, Baszler held Lola in an armbar on the ring apron, vicious and unrelenting. There was no room for surrender among those forged by mixed martial arts.

The vengeful Vice sent Baszler’s head landing nastily upon the steel steps which would cost the latter the match as she clumsily fell back into the ring. The referee then called for the bell before Vice could target her head further. As if this was the end of the film Footloose, Vice went back to dancing again as her music played.

In professional wrestling’s attempts to replicate the success and appeal of mixed martial arts, I’ve seen worse as far as this match goes. Putting two WWE talents in the Bloodsport setting of an Underground match added to the feeling. With more time and the right dance partners like tonight, this approach to MMA-based matches could work. The story of Vice putting the seriousness of the match before her dancing made for an interesting wrinkle to the bout.

– There was an Eddie Thorpe vignette highlighting his culture and impending return this Tuesday.

– Kelani Jordan and Sexyy Red celebrated the former’s NXT Women’s North American Championship win backstage.

WWE NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Wes Lee and Joe Coffey in a triple threat to retain

Lee entered the match with the vigor of a man who has to win something he never lost. Coffey came through with a focus on Femi’s belt. The champ himself walked to the ring with the well-deserved arrogance of a dominant title holder.

Lee and Coffey initiated a brief alliance to topple the mountain that is Femi, but he could not be deterred for long. Calculated and powerful, Oba ran from post to post, colliding with his challengers. A wall of resistance, Oba endured the offense by Lee and Coffey, but for only so long. He found a second wind and on the top turnbuckle, he launched Lee high in the air to a resounding thud.

Despite the temporary team-up with Les, it was interesting to note Coffey targeting Lee’s repaired back. His strategy so far of targeting a weakness for one opponent and the fatigue of another made for an interesting foil. Joe almost got an accidental pinfall, had it not been for Lee noticing it just in time.

Femi refused to stay down, trouncing Coffey and Lee with an unforgiving rage. He overcame the targeted assault from his foes. It took interference from Coffey’s teammates in Gallus to quell his momentum. While his cohorts were distracted by Lee kicking out of Coffey’s pin, Femi’s fire burned into furious anger, leveling the playing field. Lee took advantage, nearly gaining a pinfall, only for Gallus to break it up. Femi regained control, pounding Coffey into the mat with a power bomb, having had enough.

This was a fun triple threat. Femi was the powerhouse while Wes Lee was the high-flying heart and soul. Coffey contrasted this well with his cunning. Throughout the match, I was reminded of AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels at TNA’s Unbreakable 2005.

– An ad for a new episode of WWE 24, highlighting the Finn Balor vs Kevin Owens match from NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, aired.

– A vignette for the returning and newly sinister Wendy Choo aired.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Jordynne Grace to retain

Undoubtedly excited by this historic opportunity, the Knockouts Champion grinned from ear to ear as she and her muscles awaited Perez. The UFC Apex crowd chanted “TNA! TNA! TNA!” to cement the moment. Perez reserved all emotions and her crimson-clad appearance reflected the bloodlust within to hold tight to her title.

Jordynne, adorned in white gear, was not afraid. She met every strike Perez could give with ease, highlighting the powerhouse that she is. Roxanne absorbed it like a sponge, relying on her speed and agility, combined with dirty tactics as evidenced by her targeting Grace’s eye. Knowing she had to not only fight this strong outside challenger, she fought the shadow of this moment itself.

Grace remained tenacious, despite the bruising and light bleeding from her right shoulder. Powering through pain, anger, and the tactics of “The Prodigy,” Jordynne held as much as she could take. The more Perez dealt, the more Grace found her resolve. With the strength in her worn body, she spun Perez around and slammed her on the mat below.

Perez, screaming, threw everything she had, only for Grace’s fighting spirit to parry it. When Perez stretched Grace’s arm to damage her shoulder, Grace refused to give in. It would take more than that to defeat her. Though they are different they are in style, both women are similar in how they were forged in professional wrestling at young ages.

As the match progressed, there was a change in scenery as the match began to take a technical approach with Grace escaping a Pop Rox. Outside, Tatum Paxley attempted to steal the TNA Knockouts Championship but was interrupted by Ash by Elegance (whom Vic Joseph nearly called Dana Brooke, her former WWE name).

Distracted, Grace laid out both interlopers before returning to Perez. This effort might have been the moment that cost Grace. With the momentum and acceleration of a slam, this was successfully transitioned at the last second into a Pop Rox for the win.

A crossover such as this doesn’t happen often and certainly doesn’t occur that often in WWE of all places, so it was pertinent that both women make this count. I’d say they did just that. Grace has put in a lot of effort that has aided in carrying Impact/TNA for the past few years of her career. Couple that with Perez’s long-running tenure as a wrestler since adolescence and a long future ahead of her, this was the type of match that was needed.

However, just like at a TNA Impact episode a few weeks ago, Grace’s earring was ripped out by Perez’s fishnets. Naturally, this type of match couldn’t allow for Grace to get the win so easily, and it seems that there’s another crossover match between WWE and TNA in the works, this time in TNA, likely with Paxley, Ash and Grace involved. Still, this was a blast.

– Sexyy Red, Lola Vice, and Sarah Schrieber twerked backstage.

– Wes Lee’s bitter backstage promo was interrupted by an assault from Gallus.

WWE NXT Champion Trick Williams defeated Ethan Page to retain

Since his shocking appearance on the May 28th episode of NXT, Page generated a lot of hype for his in-ring debut. Sporting his signature logos on his gear, Page felt right at home. It was as though he was made for WWE and NXT at this exact moment in the brand’s history. His theme song was an easy listen. Williams’s entrance was as catchy as ever with Booker T giving his usual fanfare. Despite the new kid in town being over, Williams’ charisma still warranted the “Whoop that Trick!” chants.

Page came out with a flurry of fists to the champ, eliciting boos from the crowd. “Ethan sucks!” chants ensued. Williams fought back, seeking to whoop the trick that is Page. There was an Attitude Era feel to this match. Featuring big spots and the spectacle of excess, this type of main event is bolstered by one megastar colliding with another, creating a supernova of an atmosphere.

Whipping each other into steel steps, slamming through the commentary table, and brawling in the ring, there was no shortage of high-octane action expected by huge personalities. The heart of Williams contrasted well with Page’s ruthlessness. As a byproduct of the carnage wrought in commentary table spots, Booker T’s headset was broken, leaving Vic Joseph the sole vocalist calling the action.

Page almost had the match won with a gnarly Ego’s Edge and an assault in the corner. Thanks to referee interference distracting Page to prevent a disqualification, Williams snuck in a win with a Trick Shot to successfully retain the NXT Championship.

While not the best NXT PLE main event, this match did what it needed to in presenting Page as a huge presence in NXT while giving Williams an impactful first defense of his title.

As a whole, NXT Battleground was a fine change of scenery. The UFC Apex made for a stark contrast to the Performance Center with better lighting and a different atmosphere that would leave UFC fans in familiar territory while presenting an independent wrestling aura.

Both North American Championship matches and the crossover of Perez vs. Grace were the high spots of the event. The NXT Underground match provided insight as to how WWE could better utilize the gimmick match with the MMA appeal they seek.

**********

The special 20th anniversary episode of TNA iMPACT started off with a cold open video package that looked back at key moments from last week’s show, with The System setting the tone for the evening with a meeting backstage talking about their matches at Against All Odds. It ended with highlights of Moose knocking out “BROKEN” Matt Hardy backstage.

Jake Something def. Kon

Episode 1,037 of the weekly two-hour show kicked off with a live shot of the city of Cincinnati, OH. as the commentators welcome us to the special 20th anniversary episode. Kon’s theme hit and he made his way to the ring for the first match of the evening.

Jake Something made his way out next, looking all-business. After the two settled in the ring, the bell sounded to get the opening bout underway on the historic landmark episode of TNA iMPACT. The two locked up and neither man budged, so they each broke apart and opted instead to trade strikes.

Kon beat Something down to his knees with big shots and then brought him to the corner of the ring to follow-up on his attack. Something reversed him in the corner and unloaded with punches of his own, before dumping Kon out to the floor at ringside. Kon rushed back in with rage, but was sent right back to the floor.

Something ended up on the floor as well after Kon threw his shirt in his face to distract him. He then sent him face-first into the steel ring post, shifting the offensive momentum in his favor before returning inside the squared circle with a comfortable offensive lead. He ripped at the face of a grounded Something as the referee gave him a stern warning.

The commentators talk about Kon having an added aggression in recent weeks, just as Something began fighting back into competitive form. He traded shots with the fellow big man before ultimately grounding him. Kon got back up, but was sent back down with a flash knockdown from a big shot from Something, who followed up moments later with Into The Void for the pin fall victory.

Eric Young Talks 20 Years Of TNA iMPACT

After the match wrapped up, Kon attacked Jake Something to start a post-match beat down. Eric Young ended up running out to make the save, knocking Kon out to the floor. He got on the microphone and cut a promo saying he was just in the back having some bourbon when he decided to come out.

Young talks about TNA iMPACT being 20 years old. He said it has been 20 years of excellence and what is most important to the business, the fans, whom he calls the lifeblood of what they do. The fans chanted “TNA! TNA!” as the commentators spoke about Young having a match on the debut episode of iMPACT 20 years ago.

Frankie Kazarian Makes A Deal With The System

Backstage, Frankie Kazarian is standing by with Gia Miller for an interview when he is immediately interrupted by The System, who each take turns on the mic. Kazarian says The System has a problem and he’s going to get rid of it for them.

He makes sure he gets a TNA World Championship shot from Moose if he takes care of Nic Nemeth. Moose assures him that is the deal. Kaz says that is assuming Moose beats “BROKEN” Matt Hardy.

Moose boasted knocking out Hardy last week and questioned if he would even make it to TNA Against All Odds. On that note, the show cut to the first commercial break of the evening.

Steph De Lander To Respond To PCO’s Advances Next Week

After the break, Steph De Lander is interviewed backstage, where she agreed after encouragement from Xia Brookside and Gia Miller to wait a week to tell PCO what she thinks after he gave her a rose and love letter in recent weeks.

Gisele Shaw def. Shazza McKenzie

Inside the Impact Zone, Gisele Shaw and Shazza McKenzie each make their way to the ring for our next match. Early on, Shaw started off strong, as the commentators spoke about her recent talks with Gail Kim and the positive influence she has had on her heading into her in-ring comeback this evening.

McKenzie took over on offense for a quick run, but it was short-lived. Shaw grabbed her by the throat and decked her. She followed up a pin attempt, but only got a count of two. After they get back up, Shaw hit a big shot and followed up with her Denoument finisher for a relatively easy and basic comeback victory.

Latest Rosemary Vignette

In a backstage vignette similar to the one that aired last week, Rosemary is shown delivering a message in very Rosemary-fashion. She talks about them being alone and that the children of the hive wrapped around them like a husk for protection.

They followed them into battle, but now they are all gone due to their failures. She says those responsible will be forced to pay for their sins and their failures. After this wrapped up, the show cut to another commercial break.

Steve Maclin With A Proposition For Mike Santana

When the show returned from break, we see Steve Maclin approach Mike Santana and says unlike The Rascalz, he’s not here to attack him in sneaky fashion. He tells Santana they each have issues with them after their attack from behind last week.

Maclin suggests they handle it together, but Santana said that part of his journey is over and he rolls alone now. Maclin suggests it be a case of “one-and-done” with them taking on The Rascalz at TNA Against All Odds. Santana seemed to warm up to the idea.

Speedball Mountain def. Mustafa Ali & Campaign Singh

Inside the Impact Zone, the theme for the X-Division Champion hit and out came Mustafa Ali with Campaign Singh. The two settled inside the squared circle for scheduled tag-team action. Their opponents, the Speedball Mountain duo of Mike Bailey and Trent Seven make their way out next.

Ali teased starting off the match, only to immediately reach back and tag in Campaign with a big smile on his face. Singh and Trent Seven kicked things off for their respective teams. After Seven established the early offensive lead for Speedball Mountain, he tagged in “Speedball” Mike Bailey.

Bailey picked up where Seven left off, taking it to Singh as the fans chanted “Speedball! Speedball!” The commentators spoke often about Seven earning the next title shot at Ali’s X-Division Championship at the upcoming TNA Against All Odds 2024 pay-per-view.

Ali eventually tagged in and immediately shifted the offensive momentum back in the favor of his team, connecting with picture-perfect drop kicks on anything that moves. Ali taunted the crowd and boasted as the commentators talked us into a mid-match commercial break as the action continued inside the ring.

After the show returned, we see Singh on the wrong end of a one-sided beat down from Speedball Mountain. Singh badly needed a tag, but Ali literally ran from the opposition, eliciting laughter from the commentators.

Once Singh finally levels Seven and decks him, Ali is willing to tag back in and pick the bones. Which is exactly what he did, all-the-while loudly verbally taunting him and putting the boots to him. Seven finally heard enough and fought back, dropping the X-Division Champion. Singh gets involved and ends up on the floor with Bailey, where Trent hit a dive to take him out.

Back in the ring, Ali capitalized on the chaos. He got Seven down and headed to the top-rope for a 450 splash, but Seven moved. Ali rolled through and popped up just in time to nearly get be-headed by a big kick from Seven. Both guys were down and slow to make it to the corners, where they ultimately each tagged out.

The crowd came to life as “Speedball” Mike Bailey came into the ring with a ton of energy, only to run into a big back elbow from Singh. Bailey fought back and got the crowd back into things before tagging Seven back in. The two go for a double-team spot on Singh, but Ali yanked Bailey out to the floor to stop it.

The Secret Service provide a distraction, allowing Ali to hit a big DDT on him on the floor. Meanwhile in the ring, Seven fired up and went to work on Singh. He got Singh on his shoulders and stared at Ali before connecting with a Birming-Hammer for the pin fall victory.

The two have a long stare down after the bout as the commentators hyped their upcoming X-Division Championship clash at TNA Against All Odds 2024. After that, the show went into another commercial time out.

Jordynne Grace (C) def. Allysin Kay to retain the TNA Knockouts World Championship

When the show returned from the break, a Tale of the Tape graphic for our next match is shown, detailing the important particulars for TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and her challenger for this title tilt, Allysin Kay of The Hex.

Before the match, however, Ash By Elegance’s personal ring announcer takes over on the stick inside the squared circle. After a long, drawn-out introduction for Ash By Elegance, we got an equally long ring entrance for her, as well as a lap on the floor. She eventually settled into her chair at ringside.

The theme for Allysin Kay hit next, and out came the former multiple-time TNA Knockouts Champion in her own right, accompanied by Marti Belle. The sirens sounded after that and the hottest female talent in the business for the past week or so makes her way out.

“The Juggernaut” Jordynne Grace made her way to the ring as the commentators sung her praises and spoke about her recent title defenses heading into tonight’s bout. The champion and challenger get the added, formal pre-match ring introduction from the ring announcer and then the bell sounded to get championship action underway on the special 20th anniversary episode of TNA iMPACT.

Immediately, the commentators spoke about Grace beating Stevie Turner on WWE NXT this week, and having a chance to become a double champion when she challengers WWE NXT Women’s World Champion Roxanne Perez at the WWE NXT Battleground 2024 premium live event this coming Sunday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Grace got off to a strong offensive start, while the commentators spoke about her recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, where she claimed she would be defending her TNA Knockouts World Championship in an open challenge at the TNA Against All Odds 2024 pay-per-view at Cicero Stadium in Chicago, Illinois.

After the action spilled out to the floor at ringside, Kay managed to take over the offensive control of the match thanks to an assist from Marti Belle. Back inside the squared circle, the challenger continued to add to her offensive lead for a few minutes.

Grace fought back with hard forearm shots but once again, Belle played a factor at ringside with a distraction that allowed Kay to take back over. Kay hit a nice Saito Suplex for a pin attempt, but only got two. Grace fought back after kicking out and hoisted Kay up for a Muscle Buster in a tip of the cap to AEW’s Samoa Joe.

She went for the cover, but only got two. Grace handled Belle, but then got rolled up by Kay. She kicked out at two. We saw an AK-47 attempt, but it is countered. Grace folds Kay in half with a stiff power bomb, before following up with a Juggernaut Driver for the pin fall victory.

With the win, Jordynne Grace retained her TNA Knockouts World Championship. Ash By Elegance was shown grilling the champ from ringside as the commentators plugged Grace-Perez this Sunday at the WWE NXT PLE one final time.

DMTV With Sami Callihan

The latest installment of the always interesting DMtv segment with Sami Callihan is shown. Callihan is featured inside a truck, questioning who Jonathan Gresham is.

Callihan would go on to challenge Gresham to a match at the upcoming TNA Against All Odds 2024 pay-per-view. Callihan mentioned having sushi for dinner and then the show cut to another commercial break.

AJ Francis def. Laredo Kid to become the NEW TNA Digital Media Champion

After returning from the break, a Fight Bytes breakdown graphic is shown on the screen to get us ready for our second championship contest of the special 20th anniversary TNA iMPACT show. The theme for AJ Francis hit and out comes the challenger, accompanied by fellow member of First Class, Rich Swann.

The theme for the reigning and defending TNA Digital Media Champion hit next, and out came masked fan-favorite Laredo Kid for his latest title defense. The commentators spoke about Francis not technically earning this title shot, but instead bullying his way into it.

The bell sounded to get things started, and immediately the champ came out firing, blasting the larger Francis with rapid-fire low kicks. He chops down his much bigger opposition. Francis tried snatching up the smaller Kid, but Kid broke free and hit a top-rope missile drop kick to send the First Class member out to the floor.

Laredo went to follow-up with another high spot, but Francis caught him on the way down and planted him into the unforgiving ring apron. Back inside the ring, Francis settled into a prolonged offensive lead after slowing things down at ringside.

Kid fires back up with an assortment of kicks a few minutes later. The crowd comes to life as he takes back over control of the offense with an impressive late-rally. The champ went to the top-rope and hit a wild senton to take out Swann at ringside.

Back in the ring, however, Francis immediately took back over after the momentary lapse in focus from Laredo, and connected with his finisher to pick up the pin fall victory. With the win, AJ Francis is now the new TNA Digital Media Champion. After the match, the commentators hyped the main event of this week’s 20th anniversary show before talking us into another commercial break.

Nic Nemeth def. Frankie Kazarian

The returned from the break to the announcement of Dani Luna vs. Tasha Steelz, Mike Santana vs. Zachary Wentz, as well as Nic & Ryan Nemeth vs. Ace Austin & Chris Bey for next week’s TNA Against All Odds 2024 “go-home” episode of TNA iMPACT On AXS TV.

After that, the commentary duo are shown talking directly into camera as they run down the lineup for the upcoming TNA Against All Odds 2024 pay-per-view at Cicero Stadium in Chicago, Ill. They introduce a video package, with Jordynne Grace talking, as highlights of her in-ring action are mixed in.

The TNA Knockouts World Champion spoke about how she is going to become a double-champion at WWE NXT Battleground 2024 this Sunday night at the UFC Apex, and make herself someone with an undeniable legacy to the TNA fans and the WWE Universe.

From there, the video package with “The Juggernaut” wrapped up and the theme for Frankie Kazarian hit. The longtime TNA veteran settled inside the squared circle for the final match of the evening on the 20th anniversary show, which other than Eric Young’s brief promo after the opener, has felt like anything but an anniversary show.

After Kaz settled into the ring, the show cut to a quick pre-match commercial break. When the show returned, Nic Nemeth was settled into the ring and ready to go. The bell sounded to get the main event of the evening officially off-and-running. The commentators boast TNA iMPACT trailing only WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown as the longest-running, weekly flagship show in the history of pro wrestling. Might have to check with Dave on that one!

Nemeth started off strong, taking it to Kaz coming out of the gate, however it wasn’t long before “The King Of TNA” shifted the offensive momentum in his favor. Kaz chopped the hell out of Nemeth in the corner before grounding him as the commentators hype next week’s show featuring the first-ever tag-team match for the Nemeth Brothers before they challenge for the TNA World Tag-Team Championships at TNA Against All Odds 2024.

Kaz sent Nemeth out to the floor with authority. Nemeth is shown writhing in pain at ringside as Kaz hangs back, initially seemingly content with letting the referee count him out, only to head out after him to inflict more punishment late into the ref’s count. The commentators talk about the deal that Kaz made with Moose and The System, vowing to take out Nemeth tonight.

Meanwhile, Kaz brought Nemeth back into the ring and grounded him again, slapping on a rear chin lock and putting his weight on him, as the fans in the Impact Zone clap and attempt to rally behind Nemeth. Kaz continued to control the action as the show cut to a mid-match advertising time out.

When the match returned, we saw Kaz going for the chicken wing on Nemeth, who avoided it and started to fight back. He hit a big DDT and a spear on Kaz into the turnbuckles in the corner. Nemeth grounded Kaz and gave him the Jerry Lawler heart attack special, blasting him with rapid-fire series of elbows to the chest.

Kaz took over again from there, fighting back and this time fully securing a chicken wing submission attempt. Nemeth escaped and attempted a Danger Zone, but Kaz saw it coming and avoided it. Seconds later, Kaz hit a slingshot cutter on Nemeth for a super close two-count. Nemeth fought back and this time successfully connected with his Danger Zone finisher for the pin fall victory.

The System Strikes Again

After the match, The System trio of Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards and Alisha Edwards hit the ring and attack Nemeth. Ryan Nemeth ran out to make the save, but TNA World Champion Moose of The System ran out to ensure The System attack continued as planned. Myers hit Nemeth with a huge spear. Myers and Edwards hold Nemeth, allowing Moose to spear him. The theme for Joe Hendry hit after that and the Impact Zone came unglued.

Fans sprung to their feet with “We Believe!” chants as Hendry helps Nic and Ryan Nemeth fight off The System. Alisha provided a distraction, however, setting Moose up to take them out again. The System members hit a Boston Meme Party as fans loudly chanted “You suck! You suck!” Myers and Edwards held Ryan Nemeth, allowing Alisha to blast him with a kendo stick, before Moose finished him off with a spear. The System proudly posed with their respective titles over the fallen Nemeth brothers and Hendry.

“BROKEN” Matt Hardy Invites Moose To The Hardy Compound

From there, the show cut to a special message from “BROKEN” Matt Hardy, who addressed Moose’s attack last week on the show. He said Moose thought he was taking Hardy out, but all he did was tap into the BROKEN Universe. Hardy said he has met Moose’s family in The System, and now he is inviting them to meet his family at the Hardy Compound. The show went off the air on that note.

That’s how this week’s show went off the air. Thanks for joining us and follow me on Twitter/X.

Next Week:
* Dani Luna vs. Tasha Steelz
* Mike Santana vs. Zachary Wentz
* Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth vs. Ace Austin & Chris Bey

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Footage from earlier today shows Ethan Page arriving to the building. He is met by NXT General Manager Ava and Mr. Stone, who are also flanked by security. Page thinks he is there to iron out a deal.

Opening the show is an interpromotional match, featuring the champion of a company with a lot of recent questions about its future.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defeated Stevie Turner in a non-title match

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez joined Booker T and Vic Joseph at the announce desk for commentary. This was a showcase match for Grace, working to get her more over with the audience ahead of her challenging Perez for the NXT title. Grace pinned Turner after a Juggernaut Driver, all the while beaming with a big smile.

The smile turned into a smirk after the match, as Perez confronted Grace in the ring. Perez held her NXT title belt over her head. Perez put her title down and shoved Grace. Perez took a bump when Grace shoved her back. Grace counters Perez with a tilt-a-whirl, but Perez escapes Grace’s grasp. Perez flees the ring, and Grace stands tall.

Lash Legend meets NXT Champion Trick Williams as Trick is arriving at the building. Trick is looking for Page, threatening to punch him in the face. Legend encourages him to do so, but then Legend drops a bomb on Trick. Lash tells Trick whatever they have between them is done and over. Lash says she has a chance to be the first Women’s North American Champion. Trick says he gets it, and he is happy for her. Lock in and do whatever it takes to get that title, and Trick is going to handle the Page situation. “We good,” Trick says to Lash before walking into the building.

In a pre-taped skit, Shawn Spears is holding court with series trainees under his learning tree. Josh Briggs interrupts, leading to he and Spears getting into an argument. This would seem to set up a match between the two.

Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Sol Ruca, Michin, Kelani Jordan, and Jaida Parker all meet for a “summit” in the ring. The six met again Sunday in ladder match to determine the first ever NXT Women’s North American Champion.

They are seated in the ring, with Booker T at a podium as the host. The title belt was on its own pedestal in front of the podium. Ladders surround the ring, hinting at the ladder match on Sunday. Everyone is dressed in street clothes, but Sol Ruca was wearing her knee brace. That foreshadowed a brawl that eventually erupted in the ring.

Before the brawl starts, the participants cut some promos ahead of their match on Sunday. Booker T hypes them up, and Michin is first to cut a promo. Parker cuts her off, and Parker cuts a promo on Michin. Fallon Henley interrupts, saying title was created just for her. Jordan responds with the best promo of the bunch.

Sol Ruca won’t cut them down, but she does say she will defeat all of them. Legend interrupts with a high-pitched sound of breaks, as she stops Ruca. The other women sell the high-pitched sound. Legend is cutting a promo when Parker makes an insult playing on Trick Williams. Everyone gets out of their chairs, and a melee ensues. Out comes Mr. Stone, doing the Teddy Long gimmick of booking a six-man tag for later tonight.

A wacky skit with a the No Quarter Catch Crew has Charlie Dempsey doing his version of a mobster gimmick.

Thea Hail is disappointed when Duke Hudson and Riley Osborne tell her they won’t be in her corner tonight. Andre Chase assures her he will be in Hail’s corner. In walks Ridge Holland, and he is going to also be in her corner.

Jaxmyn Nyx defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase & Ridge Holland)

Nyx pinned Hail, as Osborne and Hudson watch on after all. Hail was firing up and making a comeback when she is distracted by Osborne and Hudson. She wondered aloud why they are at ringside, after saying earlier they would not be in her corner. Nevertheless, she goes for a Kimura. Nyx manueavers herself and Hail into a corner, with the referee sandwiched in as well. The ref starts a count, so Hail must break the hold. Nyx then catches Hail with a Pele kick, and Nyx scores a pinfall.

Ethan Page and Ava are exiting her office, and a deal is apparently not done. Page leaves and in walks Mr. Stone. He ask about Page, and Ava shows him what is apparently an absurd list of demands.

“Exclusive footage” shows The Good Brothers brawling with NXT Tag Team Champion Nathan Frazier & Axiom. They get into a brawl at a merchandise stand, when Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows run in with an unprovoked attack. Security jumps in to pull Good Brothers away.

Shawn Spears attacked Josh Briggs before what was supposed to be their match. Spears lays out Briggs in Gorilla. Je’Von Evans walks up and he starts fighting with Evans. They brawl their way to the ringside, where Spears teases putting Evans through the announce desk. Evans counters by backdropping Spears on the desk.

Evans follows up with a springboard cutter in the ring. Evans then clotheslines Spears out of the ring, and Evans stands tall. Evans against Spears is clearly a match for the near future.

NXT Heritage Cup Champion Tony D’Angelo (with The D’Angelo Family) defeated Damon Kemp (with No Quarter Catch Crew)

D’Angelo wins two falls to none, ending the match in the fourth round. D’Angelo also takes the first round. He pinned Kemp after a fisherman’s buster suplex and a float-over cover.

No falls in round two or three. Much of the second round goes through a split-screen commercial break. Round three begins when the show returns from the commercial break. The intensity picks up slightly before D’Angelo hulks up. Kemp cuts him off, and Kemp executes a rolling DVD. Kemp goes for a cover, but D’Angelo is saved by the bell.

Kemp rushes towards D’Angelo soon as the fourth round begins. The Don responds with a spinebuster on Kemp. D’Angelo then covers Kemp for a pinfall, winning the match in the fourth round with two falls to none.

Ava is being interviewed by Kelly Kincaid about the contract negotiations with Ethan Page. He wants to have a public contract signing, but Ava says there are still details to work out with his contract. Trick Williams walks in to insist Ava give Page whatever he wants, as Trick is set on revenge.

Jordynne Grace interacts with other women in an odd skit. First, Grace and Michin have a reunion of sorts, as both were in TNA together. Sol Ruca marks out over Grace. Jaida Parker enters to cut a promo and leave.

Grace keeps walking, and she runs into Arianna Grace. The pagent queen remarks how they have the same last name, but no relation. Tatum Paxley then enters the scene to creep out Grace. Not sure where any of that is going, but there it was regardless.

Dueling video package hype Lola Vica and Shayna Baszler, ahead of their Underground match on Sunday. Great highlight reels featuring both.

Natalya (with Karmen Petrovic) defeated Izzi Dame

Nattie pinned Dame to win a competitive match. As they went home, Nattie goes for a sharpshooter. Dame counters into a cradle. Nattie then counters the cradle into a pin cover of her own, and Nattie scored a pinfall. Short, but fun, match.

The tag champs, Nathan Frazier & Axiom, cut a promo on Gallows & Anderson.

Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) jump Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont during a commercial break. Igwe & Dupont entered the sound stage for a match that never takes place, as they are jumped by Gallud.

The Coffeys and Wolfgang cut promos on how they are in NXT to be professional wrestlers. They vow to do whatever it takes to ensure Joe Coffey leaves Battleground as the North American Champion. Out comes the reigning NXT North American Champ, Oba Femi. He is cutting a promo when they are all interrupted by Wes Lee. He is among the live studio audience.

A melee ensues in the ring, as Gallus jump Femi. Wes Lee rushed in to join the fight, but Gallus has both Lee and Femi outnumbered. Lee and Femi are both left laying in the ring. Odd to see Femi sell so much, but they are trying to sell a triple threat match.

Wendy Choo is awakened from her sleep, and she returns next week.

Lexis King and Dante Chen get into a wild brawl in the backstage area. King is being interviewed, where he cuts a promo about Chen. That led to Chen rushing in to attack King. They brawl around the backstage area, and they are separated by producers and coaches. I popped for a Norman Smiley cameo. Robbie Brookeside is also there holding back King.

Jaida Parker, Michin & Sol Ruca defeated Fallon Henley, Kelani Jordan & Lash Legend

Sol Ruca pinned Lash Legend to win the match. This was a wild card match of sorts, with babyfaces and heels mixed together as teams. The teammates end up fighting among themselves just before they go home.

Big melee just for the finish. The smoke clears with Legend thinking she is standing tall, when in leaps Ruca with a springboard into her finisher. Ruca then covers Legend for a three count. Pretty good match, albeit hectic at times.

Eddy Thorpe is the focus of another vignette. He returns soon to NXT.

The ring is set up for a contract signing, with a table and such. Ava is already in the ring, and she introduces Ethan Page. Out comes Page to a chorus of boos. He gets in the ring, and sits in a chair at the table with Ava.

Ava wants to get this done, and she urges them to finish. Page heels on the live studio audience, while the crowd chants for Trick Williams. Page rants about how everyone will be mad about all the perks in his contract, but he “doesn’t really give a damn.” Page goes on say Ava is about to sign the wrestler with the biggest upside in pro wrestling.

Ava responds by telling Page she will not sign anyone with those contractual demands, of which remain a mystery to us. Page insists that Ava needs to sign himself basically because NXT needs fresh talent. There is more inside baseball talk by Page, with the first hint on this show of NXT moving to a new home on television (which is coming in September with the move to the CW)

Page continues bragging on himself as the studio audience chants “whoop that trick” at him. He heels on them. NXT Champion Trick Williams soon enters the sound stage. Williams gets in the ring to confront Page. Meanwhile, Page is moving the table. Page then tells Trick no one is getting put through a table.

Williams insists Ava give Williams whatever demands he wants in his contract, so that Williams can “whoop yo’ ass!” Williams rambles a bit in a promo on Page, and Page soon cuts him off for a promo of his own. Page even compliments Williams, before saying him attaching Trick was not personal. Rather, it was about Page creating an opportunity for himself. Page then says he is ready to sign the contract.

Page signs, and all that remains is Ava’s signature. She tells Trick she cannot sign because of one particular stipulation, although Trick insists she sign. Page says she is signing on for two things: giving Page a title match as his first match in the company, and she is signing on for the end of the “whoop that” era.

Williams cuts one final promo, calling on the crowd to chant “whoop that trick.”

Ava signs the contract. Page and Williams then get face-to-face in a standoff. Their title match is official for Battleground on Sunday.

Shawn Michaels on Jordynne Grace in WWE NXT: Triple H ‘owed me one’

Shawn Michaels says he was jealous that the WWE main roster got to use Jordynne Grace in the Royal Rumble earlier this year.

The TNA Knockouts Champion was revealed as Roxanne Perez’s opponent for NXT Battleground on last night’s show. Michaels revealed what led to Grace being brought into NXT during a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez.

“I’ve been very public about being a fan of Jordynne Grace. I expressed to Hunter privately that I was very jealous that he had her for the Rumble. And he owed me one, he owed me a big one,” Michaels said.

“We’re thrilled to have her for Battleground and we’re thrilled to have her next week.”

Michaels was asked about Grace’s Rumble appearance during a media call to promote Vengeance Day in February. He responded that he’d “always wondered if (Grace) would be interested in coming to NXT” but never reached out to her, assuming she would be unable to since she’s under contract with TNA.

NXT Battleground takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on June 9. Michaels says everyone at NXT is honored to be the first brand to run a WWE show in the venue.

“For NXT to be the first brand to be out there in the UFC Apex is just really, really big for us. And we are just so honored to get to be the brand that gets to launch that,” he continued.

The full interview is available below.

Jordynne Grace vs. Stevie Turner set for next week’s WWE NXT

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace is in action on next week’s NXT.

After it was announced that Grace would challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship at next weekend’s Battleground, Stevie Turner was shown in Ava’s office complaining about not getting any opportunities while Grace gets a title shot. Grace came in and said she’d like to show both Turner and Roxanne Perez what she’s capable of and issued a challenge for next week, which Ava quickly made official.

Thea Hail will face former friend Jazmyn Nyx. After Hail broke Jacy Jayne’s nose at NXT Spring Breakin night two, Nyx has blamed Hail for the injury and ise seeking revenge over the incident. Tony D’Angelo will also be in action, taking on Damon Kemp. Charlie Dempsey told Myles Borne and Kemp that a chain of command needed to be established in the group in order to take on the D’Angelo family.

A preview of the upcoming NXT Underground match beteween Shayna Baszler and Lola Vice will also air. After Vice turned on Baszler last week, the two confronted one another on this week’s NXT and had to be seperated by security.

Here is the current card for next week’s NXT:

  • Jordynne Grace vs. Stevie Turner
  • Tony D’Angelo vs. Damon Kemp
  • Thea Hail vs. Jazmyn Nyx
  • Inside look between Shayna Baszler vs. Lola Vice

TNA’s Jordynne Grace to challenge Roxanne Perez at WWE NXT Battleground

An interpromotional match for the NXT Women’s Championship is set for NXT Battleground.

After Roxanne Perez asked Ava who she was set to face at next weekend’s premium live event at the UFC Apex, TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace came out as a surprise. The fans in the arena chanted “TNA” as Grace told Perez that she was planning on leaving Las Vegas as a double champion.

Grace, who has been Knockouts champion since January, made an appearance at the Royal Rumble, the first sign of a working relationship between TNA and WWE. She lasted long in the Rumble match before eventually being eliminated by Bianca Belair.

Another title match was confirmed for Battleground when The OC (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) challenged Nathan Frazer and Axiom for the NXT Tag Team titles. After The OC defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade, the champions attacked Gallows and Anderson, accepting their challenge.

At the start of NXT, rapper Sexxy Red came out and introduced the NXT Women’s North American Championship. She also announced that she would be hosting Battleground.

TNA Impact live results: ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey vs. Trent Seven

A future shot at the X-Division title is on tap as part of tonight’s TNA Impact as “Speedball” Mike Bailey battles Trent Seven.

The two have been partners recently, but a recent tag team win against ABC with a unique stipulation earned them the opportunity for this match with the winner of tonight’s bout getting a shot at current champion Mustafa Ali at next month’s Against All Odds.

The Knockouts title will be on the line as Jordynne Grace defends against the returning Marti Belle while former Knockouts Champion Tasha Steelz will take on Jody Threat. Grace will be gunning for the eighth defense of her title against The Hex member.

TNA Tag Team Champions The System (Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers) will be in non-title action against “Broken” Matt Hardy & Ryan Nemeth as Hardy’s feud with the faction and pursuit of TNA World Champion Moose continues.

Our live coverage begins at 8:30 PM Eastern.

**********

Ryan Nemeth and “Broken” Matt Hardy defeated The System (Bryan Myers and Eddie Edwards) (with Alisha Edwards)

Eddie Edwards and Matt Hardy started the match, with Hardy having put most of the offense in. Bryan and Eddie kept Nemeth separated from Hardy with the help of Alisha Edwards. After this stretch, Nemeth escaped via a DDT to tag Matt Hardy in. Hardy displayed heavy offense and a great sense of ring awareness, even when Myers and Edwards isolated and picked at him. Matt Hardy tagged Ryan Nemeth in for the win.

Post-match, TNA World Champion Moose would join The System in a beatdown of Hardy and Nemeth before Nic Nemeth made a surprise interference, saving Ryan and Matt. It was a decent match, with everyone playing their role nicely. “Broken” Matt Hardy continues to be a great asset to TNA Wrestling since departing All Elite Wrestling.

– Backstage, The ABC members Chris Bey and Ace Austin set up a match for May 30 episode of TNA Impact

– Backstage segment featuring Santino Marella, Matt Hardy, Nic Nemeth, and Ryan Nemeth, Matt Hardy set to face Moose and the Nemeths set to face The System at Against All Odds

The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel) defeated Sinner & Saint (Travis Williams and Judas Icarus)

After some early offense, Sinner and Saint cornered Zachary Wentz until Trey Miguel evened the odds – twice. Despite some dastardly antics from Judas Icarus, The Rascalz were able to get the win via their finisher The Stop.

Post-match, Steve Maclin laid out The Rascalz. A short match, but both teams made the most of their time with some fine chemistry.

– SANTANA confronted Steve Maclin, setting up a match on the May 30 episode of TNA Impact

– Frankie Kazarian announced he has left the building after berating ring announcer Jade Chung

– Cody Deaner called out Jake Something, The Good Hands interrupted

Jake Something and Cody Deaner defeated The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch)

After a brawl between Something and Deaner against The Good Hands, Santino Marella declared an impromptu tag team KFC Match. Deaner put in most of the offense, but Something evened the odds. While Deaner held his own against Jason Hotch, John Skyler would become an insurmountable obstacle. A weakened Cody Deaner made a hot tag to Jake Something, who took on both of The Good Hands. After Deaner whipped Skyler his way, something would win the match with Into the Void.

Excellent work by Deaner, and The Good Hands were proficient as conniving heels. Jake Something’s hot tag was properly executed, making every moment feel as impactful as it looked.

– Backstage Jordynne Grace promo ahead of match with Marti Belle and the upcoming Tasha Steelz

– Backstage segement featuring The System and Joe Hendry, Eddie Edwards and Joe Hendry set for match on May 30 episode of TNA Impact

Jordynne Grace (c) defeated Marti Belle (TNA Knockouts Championship)

The Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace started this match having her bells rung by Marti, who dominated most of this short match. Kicking out at one, Grace would win with a Juggernaut Driver.

Both women are powerhouses, but Jordynne Grace continues to be the star that TNA can rely on. This was an amazing short sprint. Post-match, Belle’s tag team partner Allysin Kay of The Hex delivered a beatdown on Jordynne Grace.

– Santino Marella called Jonathan Gresham’s cell phone who didn’t answer

Tasha Steels defeated Jodi Threat (w/Dani Luna and Lars Frederikson)

Jodi had the initial offense on Tasha, but she soon recovered and dominated the next stretch. Steels would then use a Backstabber to Threat on the apron. Frederickson and Luna advised Threat to end the match while she had the upper hand, but she didn’t listen, leading Steelz to get the win. High on emotion, her adrenaline cost her the match.

Jodi Threat and Tasha Steelz meshed well together, and the storyline inclusion of Luna and Fredrikson furthered the storyline between them.

– PCO yells backstage, wondering where Steph De Lander is

– Rich Swann and AJ Francis hinted at challenging for mystery titles for the May 30 episode of TNA Impact

Trent Seven defeated “Speedball” Mike Bailey (Number One Contender Opportunity for the X-Division Championship match at Against All Odds)

Challenging each other for the opportunity to challenge Mustafa Ali for the X-Division Championship, Bailey and Seven were evenly matched in the early goings. Mike Bailey delivered an awesome moonsault from the top rope to Seven on the floor and followed it up with a missile dropkick in the ring. The chops to each man’s chest were as gnarly as one would expect. Bailey and Seven would then trade back chops after Bailey mistakenly initiated it with Seven’s back. X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali and his security team entered the arena as spectators. Seven nearly had the match won with a Seated Scoopslam, to which Ali applauded from the outside. Bailey, aiming to hit Trent Seven, would instead accidentally kick Ali, incapacitating him. Trent used a series of Seven Star Lariats to no avail. Ali would try to interfere but was pulled away by his security, but Champagne Singh would cost Bailey the match. Trent Seven would win the match with a Birminghammer, setting him up for the X-Division Championship match against Mustafa Ali at Against All Odds.

Despite never facing each other before this point, Bailey and Seven worked well together as though they had wrestled one another for years. The back chop spot followed by the sportsmanship was a nice touch. Bailey’s fast-paced style contrasted well with Seven’s hard-hitting moves and veteran instincts, creating an air of unpredictability. The inclusion of Mustafa Ali heightened the stakes, distracting Bailey in a few instances. The interferences were a bit much, but the stakes were high and the action was incredible in this main event.

TNA Under Siege live results: ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy in trios action

Friday’s TNA Under Siege streaming special from Albany, New York, will see the promotional in-ring return of “Broken” Matt Hardy for the first time since 2017.

After making his surprise return at last month’s Rebellion, Hardy will team with “Speedball” Mike Bailey & Trent Seven against The System’s Moose, Bryan Myers & Eddie Edwards.

The night will feature two title matches as Knockouts Tag Team Champions Spitfire (Jody Threat & Dani Luna) defend against Alisha Edwards & Masha Slamovich while X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali defends against Ace Austin.

Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace will team with PCO against Steph De Lander & Kon while Jonathan Gresham will make his return to in-ring action as he faces KUSHIDA.

Former TNA World Champions Josh Alexander & Eric Young will team against Frankie Kazarian & Steve Maclin while Hammerstone takes on Jake Something.

Other matches include Laredo Kid vs. Rich Swann; Joe Hendry vs. Zachary Wentz, and two pre-show matches.

Rhino defeated VSK

Rhino took control of the match after a few chops. The action spilled to the floor. Rhino slammed VSK on the apron. VSK made a comeback as the action returned to the ring. Tom Hannifan noted that there were changes to the card. VSK missed a splash off the top rope. Rhino suplexed VSK and followed with the Gore for the pin. A crowd pleaser to open the Countdown show.

– Gia Miller interviewed Ace Austin about his X Division Title match later tonight. Ace discussed that he and Chris Bey have had some disagreements recently, but he agreed that they are both talented enough to team up and pursue singles success. He said he was no stranger to beating the odds and he made his own luck. He predicted a win. He said that even though Bey wasn’t there, he wouldn’t have trouble finding someone to celebrate with tonight.

The FBI (Zack Clayton & Ray Jaz) (w/Guido) defeated The Batiri

The Batiri had green and black facepaint. Zack Clayton used power moves to keep the advantage. Ray Jaz landed a legdrop on his opponent. The Batiri gained the advantage briefly but the FBI quickly made a comeback. Jaz hit an elbow drop and Clayton got the pin.

– Frankie Kazarian and Steve Maclin agreed to team up and take care of business tonight.

Laredo Kid defeated KC Navarro to retain the TNA Digital Media Title

Kid landed a moonsault from the top rope to the floor on KC. Back in the ring, Kid chopped KC hard. They exchanged moves back and forth. KC dropkicked Kid. The action went to the floor briefly with KC getting the upper hand. Kid gave KC a series of clotheslines.

Kid gave KC a senton and an elbow drop for a two count. Kid missed a moonsault and KC gave him a superkick. KC gave Kid a DDT for a two count. Kid kicked KC and gave him a Spanish Fly from the top rope for the pin. This match was all action. A solid win to continue Kid’s title reign.

Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt ran down the card for the evening and pitched to the main show. They noted that Hammerstone is not medically cleared and will be replaced by Rich Swann in the match against Jake Something.

Eric Young & Josh Alexander defeated Frankie Kazarian & Steve Maclin

Alexander gave Young headgear to wear to protect his taped up ear. Young went right after Kazarian, who immediately tagged out. Young dropkicked Maclin. Alexander armdragged Kazarian. Alexander gave Kazarian a rolling senton. Alexander chopped Maclin. Alexander knocked Maclin off the apron, but Maclin tripped Alexander. Kazarian chopped Alexander and gave him a Russian leg sweep for a two count. Maclin gave Alexander a backbreaker.

Kazarian gave Alexander a backstabber. Kazarian got a two count after a suplex. Kazarian leveled Alexander with a back elbow. Maclin drop a knee on Alexander’s back. Alexander threw Kazarian to the outside. Young chased Kazarian around the ring, but Maclin decked Young. Alexander gave Kazarian a belly to belly suplex off the top rope and finally made the hot tag to Young, who cleaned house on Maclin. Young finally got to Kazarian and choked him, but Kazarian escaped.

Alexander gave Maclin a series of German suplexes. Kazarian legdropped Alexander and gave him a DDT. All four wrestlers exchanged moves. Maclin knocked Young off the top rope and gave him Caught in the Crosshairs for a two count. Alexander gave Maclin a backbreaker for a two count. Maclin slammed Alexander and Young gave Maclin a flying elbow drop to break up the pin attempt. Young and Kazarian faced off. Young attacked Kazarian with punches. Alexander decked Kazarian with a forearm shot.

Maclin clotheslined Alexander over the top rope. Maclin accidentally gave Kazarian a running knee. Alexander gave Maclin a crossbody block on the apron. Young gave Kazarian a piledriver and got the pin.

A really good tag team match to kick off the evening. Young got a bit of revenge, but I’m sure there will be more chapters to his feud with Kazarian.

Ash By Elegance (w/ The Personal Concierge) defeated Havok (w/ Rosemary)

The Concierge said that he received a blessing and holy water to purify the ring and get rid of the evil spirits, then brought Ash to the ring. Ash wore a necklace of garlic during her entrance. Havok powered Ash to the mat. Ash regrouped on the outside. Ash evaded Havok and posed. Ash slapped Havok. Havok grabbed Ash and slapped her. Havok rag dolled Ash. Ash rolled to the outside and consulted with the Concierge.

Havok pulled Ash back into the ring. Ash went to slap Havok again but Havok gave her a headbutt and launched Ash. The Concierge threw the holy water into Havok’s eyes. Ash powerbombed Havok to the mat. The Concierge tried to throw holy water on Rosemary, but she drank it and chased him up the ramp. Havok went for a suplex, but Ash was able to roll her up for the pin.

After the match, Ash choked Havok with the garlic necklace. Ash attacked Havok with a chair and gave her the Rarified Air with a chair on top of Havok. Ash taunted Havok on the ramp and gave her a DDT. Someone in the crowd yelled “She has a family!”

This was entertaining for what it was and could lead to an interesting feud. I’m just glad the Ash vs. Xia Brookside feud is apparently over.

– Gia Miller interviewed “Broken” Matt Hardy and Speedball Mountain. Mike Bailey said he feels a bit broken. Trent Seven told Bailey to pull himself together because they’ve reached the main event and are now House Hardy. Matt said The System was under siege. He said he is with family. He gave them “coats of arms” to keep them safe tonight.

Joe Hendry defeated Zachary Wentz

The announcers speculated about why Trey Miguel wasn’t with Wentz. They also touted the success of Hendry’s recently released song. Hendry did mic work before the match and said the wrestling business is all about “Who have you beaten?” He noted that wrestlers in the back have beaten some big names such as Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, and Bushwhacker Luke. He asked if fans have heard of Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, or Post Malone. He said that he had beaten them all on the UK music charts and was now number six. Fans chanted “Number Six!” Hendry said the entire world was saying “We believe.”

Wentz charged Hendry at the bell and went on the attack. Wentz did a dive on Hendry on the ramp. Wentz got a two count on Hendry. Wentz gave Hendry a series of kicks. Wentz attempted a dive on the outside, but Hendry caught him and threw him back into the ring. Hendry followed with a clothesline and overhead slam.

Wentz gave Hendry more kicks and a swanton bomb for a two count. Hendry threw Wentz to the mat and gave him the Standing Ovation chokeslam for the pin. Decent match. Hendry’s mic work was almost as long as the match. This seemed almost more of a match to promote Hendry’s music success than anything.

Alisha Edwards & Masha Slamovich defeated Spitfire (Dani Luna & Jody Threat) (w/ Lars Frederiksen) to win the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles

Lars joined Hannifan and Rehwoldt on commentary. He said that Spitfire was working on being a more cohesive team and learning to thwart tactics from wrestlers like Masha and Alisha. Lars noted that he made songs about destroying the system. Spitfire double teamed Masha early, including giving her a delayed suplex. Alisha turned the tide by snapping Dani’s neck over the top rope. Alisha talked trash to Dani, but Dani fought back until Masha cut her off.

Masha and Alisha double teamed Dani. Masha threw Dani out of the ring. Alisha hit Jody Threat with a kendo stick behind the referee’s back. Masha powerbombed Jody. Then gave her a front piledriver for the pin. The System came out to celebrate.

– AJ Francis and Rich Swann promo. AJ talked about moving on from Joe Hendry’s apology. He said that Rich Swann would have beat Laredo Kid in his scheduled non-title match but now he would beat Jake Something.

Rich Swann (w/ AJ Francis) defeated Jake Something

AJ interfered while Jake was on the floor. Back in the ring, Swann kicked Jake numerous times. Jake finally fired up but Swann raked his eyes. Swann choked Jake on the second rope as AJ cheered him on. AJ attacked Jake again while the referee wasn’t looking. Swann raked Jake’s eyes again to cut off a rally. Swann got a two count after more kicks.

Swann clotheslined Jake, but he no-sold it and returned a clothesline of his own. Swann sidestepped Jake and kicked him in the head. Jake made a comeback. Swann escaped Into the Void and kicked Jake. Jake caught Swann with a punch as he was coming off the ropes. AJ pulled down the top rope so that Jake fell out of the ring. The referee saw AJ about to attack Jake.

Cody Deaner walked to the stage. He stopped the referee from stopping the match and said that Santino Marella was going to leave it to the people to decide if the match would end in a DQ or if he should come to the ring and “chop down that Dolla Tree.” Fans chanted “Dolla Tree.” Cody said the fans have spoken and he attacked AJ. AJ chokeslammed Cody on the apron,. Jake did a dive on AJ. Swann followed with a dive on Jake. Swann gave Jake a cutter in the ring and a frog splash for the pin.

The match was okay, but there was way too much interference. Surprise result with Swann pinning Jake.

Jonathan Gresham defeated KUSHIDA

Gresham wore a black octopus mask to the ring and wrestled in a black mask. Gresham coughed loudly after the first lock up and continued to cough. Kushida put Gresham in a surfboard submission on the mat. They traded chops. Gresham bit Kushida’s arm and the announcers noted how that is uncharacteristic of him. Gresham aggressively stomped Kushida. Gresham put Kushida in a Boston Crab. Kushida reached the ropes to break the hold; Gresham wouldn’t release the hold until the count of four. Kushida went after Gresham’s left knee. Kushida connected with the palm strike.

Gresham rolled up Kushida using the tights for a two count. Kushida went after Gresham’s right arm. They had a quick sequence of moves and both collapsed to the mat. After they got to their feet, they traded punches. Gresham had a black substance like ink all over his hands. He was spitting it out and put it in Kushida’s mouth, leading to Gresham getting the pin. Kushida started coughing after the match and security helped him to the back.

The match itself was good, but the new mysterious presentation of Gresham and the black substance was the bigger story coming out of the match. It will be intriguing to see where this will lead.

Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace & PCO defeated Steph De Lander & Kon

Grace “re-animated” PCO during his entrance. Grace and Kon battled to start the match. Grace gave Kon several forearm shots. Kon shoulderblocked Grace to the mat. Steph tagged in and chopped Grace. Steph suplexed Grace for a two count. Grace backdropped Steph. PCO and Kon faced off and traded strikes. PCO clotheslined Kon and gave him an elbow drop. PCO gave Kon the PCOsault but Steph broke up the pin.

Kon and Steph tagged in and out to keep the advantage. Kon and PCO clotheslined each other. Grace made the hot tag and hit a series of moves on Steph. Steph put the referee between her and Grace and used the distraction to get the upper hand. PCO went to chokeslam Steph but she tried to flirt with him to get out of it.

PCO dipped her and was going to kiss her but he got attacked and chokeslammed by Kon. Grace hit Kon low and gave him a Death Valley Driver. PCO did a dive through the ropes and onto Kon on the floor. Grace powebombed Steph, followed by the backfist, and Juggernaut Driver for the pin.

A fun match that was a nice change of pace. Grace’s power was highlighted and the crowd was really into it. If the Kon and PCO feud is never going to end, then was a fresh way of keeping it going.

Mustafa Ali defeated Ace Austin to retain the TNA X Division Title

Hannifan noted again that Chris Bey was unable to be with Ace tonight. After some initial action, Ali gave Ace a flying tornado DDT on the floor. Fans chanted “This is awesome!” Ali choked Ace with the ring apron. Ali gave Ace a kick and followed with a neckbreaker for a two count.

Ace caught Ali with a clothesline. Ace DDT’d Ali for a two count. Ali chopped Ace, but Ace came back with a legdrop. Ali threw Ace into the post and Ace sold his arm. Ali wrapped Ace’s arm around the post and put him in a version of the STF. Back in the ring, Ali taunted Ace and slammed him. Ace came back and slammed Ali and followed with a kick.

Ace threw Ali’s arm into the turnbuckle, then gave him a legdrop for a two count. Ali pulled Ace down and gave him a German suplex on the outside, prompting a “Holy s***!” chant from the fans, Back in the ring, Ace was able to suplex Ali into the corner. Fans chanted “This is awesome!” again.

Ace tried to pop his shoulder back into place. They exchanged strikes. Ace kicked Ali in the head and he fell out of the ring. Ace kicked Ali was he was on the apron, Ali pulled Ace off the apron and threw him back in the ring. Ali put Ace in the sharpshooter. Ace pulled Ali to break the hold. Ace kicked Ali and powerbombed him for a two count. Ali’s Secret Service guys got on the apron, but Ali knocked them off.

Ace hit The Fold on Ali, but one of Ali’s security members pulled him out of the ring. Ace knocked out a security member on the ramp. Ace rolled up Ali for a two count. Ali kicked Ace off the ropes. Ace feel onto the X Division Title belt that Ali had just brought in the ring, Ali hit the 450 splash for the pin.

Easily the match of the night. These two worked so well together and the fans ate it up. Ali’s streak of impressive matches continues, as well as the storyline of ABC coming up short in singles matches.

The System (TNA World Champion Moose & Tag Team Champions Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers) defeated “Broken” Matt Hardy & Speedball Mountain (Mike Bailey & Trent Seven)

Speedball Mountain came out in coats like Hardy and did the “Delete” gesture. Rehwoldt said they look stupid. Brian Myers and Hardy started the match, but Hardy said he wanted Moose. Moose tagged in but said “That’s not how The System works” and tagged out to Eddie Edwards. Hardy bit Eddie’s hand. Eddie gave Hardy a thumb to the eye. Hardy catapulted Eddie into the ropes. Speedball Mountain double teamed Eddie. Fans chanted “Delete!” Mike Bailey avoided Myers and chopped him. Hardy’s team triple teamed Myers.

Bailey gave Myers a series of punches. Bailey missed a standing moonsault. Moose slammed Bailey and got a two count. Fans chanted “Ball of Speed.” Eddie clotheslined Bailey and scored a two count. Myers put Bailey in a chinlock and gave him a back elbow. Rehwoldt called Myers the “Wrestler of Great Profession.” Moose stomped on Bailey’s ankle. Moose’s team kept the advantage on Bailey.

Moose knocked Hardy off the apron. Bailey finally made the tag to Trent Seven and ran wild on The System. Seven jumped off the ropes but Moose moved. Eddie gave Seven a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. Fans chanted “Trent the Seven.” Eddie charged Seven but missed and fell to the outside. Seven tried to make the tag, but Eddie and Myers pulled down Hardy and Bailey at the exact moment. Seven clotheslined Myers and made the tag to Hardy.

Hardy punched and clotheslined Eddie, then took down Eddie and Myers with a clothesline. Hardy drove Eddie and Myers’ heads into the turnbuckles. Hardy gave Eddie a Side Effect for a two count. Eddie escaped the Twist of Fate. Moose stepped in the ring and faced Hardy. They traded punches. Moose booted Hardy. Hardy caught Moose with a cutter when he came off the top rope for a dramatic two count. Fans chanted “Holy s***!”

Hardy gave Moose an elbow drop for another two count. Hardy called for the Twist of Fate. Eddie broke it up. Bailey tagged in and dropkicked Myers from the top rope. Bailey gave Myers a tornado kick. Myers gave Bailey a spear, but Seven and Myers broke up the pin. Fans chanted “This is awesome!” The System went for a triple piledriver but Hardy’s team escaped and turned it into a tripe Twist of Fate. Seven tagged in.

Moose knocked Hardy out of the ring. Speedball Mountain did a moonsault and dive on Myers and Eddie. Everyone brawled on the floor. Moose powerbombed Seven on the apron. Hardy escaped a Moose powerbomb and bit Moose. Hardy gave Moose a Twist of Fate on the floor. Hardy put Moose on a table at ringside. Hardy climbed to the top rope and legdropped Moose through the table. Back in the ring, Speedball Mountain fought Eddie and Myers.

Bailey did an Ultima Weapon on Myers on the apron. Seven gave Eddie a burning hammer, but Alisha broke up the pin. Bailey confronted Alisha, but Myers gave Bailey a Roster Cut on the floor. In the ring, Eddie kicked Seven low and gave him a boot to the face, followed by a backpack stunner. Myers immediately gave Seven an elbow drop and Eddie pinned Seven.

A spirited main event, which the crowd was invested in. The fans were really into Hardy’s act, as well as Speedball Mountain. The System continues to dominate and has even added gold. Despite The System winning, this could still set up a Hardy vs. Moose title match.

TNA Impact live results: Jordynne Grace vs. Miyu Yamashita

Jordynne Grace will defend her Knockouts title against Miyu Yamashita on the Under Siege go-home edition of tonight’s TNA Impact.

This will be the Japanese star’s first appearance in TNA since a four-way no. 1 contender’s match at March 2023’s Multiverse United show. Grace will be gunning for her seventh title defense in this first-time-ever match.

In a bout to determine who will get a shot at X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali at tomorrow’s streaming special, rivals and former champions Ace Austin and Trey Miguel will do battle.

Ali will be in non-title action on the show as he faces Austin’s partner Chris Bey.

In a preview of Friday’s Knockouts Tag Team title match, Spitfire’s Dani Luna will take on Alisha Edwards. Luna and Jody Threat will defend against Edwards and Masha Slamovich.

After their continued rivalry, Joe Hendry will issue an in-ring apology to AJ Francis and Rich Swann in musical form.

Our coverage will begin at 8:30 PM Eastern when the show goes live on YouTube for Insiders.

**********

We started with a recap of last week, during which Nic Nemeth faced defeat, felt “broken,” and met with a new ally in Matt Hardy. The System is not impressed, with Eddie Edwards comparing Nemeth to Eric Angle. The staredown between Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and TJPW ace Miyu Yamashita led to our opening video.

X-Division Mustafa Ali defeated Chris Bey in a non-title match

We were greeted by AJ Francis and Rich Swann boasting on the balcony of The Palms. Francis enjoys the view with his entourage, including Houston rapper Bun B.  Ali gained early control of the in-ring action, with Bey throwing big shots to sway momentum. His opportunity opened up when he nailed a coast-to-coast elbow for a near fall. Ali switched gears from his methodical pace to a much more physical showing. There were heavy hits from both guys, with Ace Austin doing good work at ringside, even causing a distraction leading to a series of dives to the outside from both competitors. One of Ali’s security guards would wave his flag into the back of Bey, allowing Ali to hit his smooth 450 splash, capping off a good match. Bey’s partner, Ace, would be in action later.

Alisha Edwards defeated Dani Luna

Spitfire makes their entrance to the sound of Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen on commentary, which isn’t bad. Alisha is accompanied by her newest ally, Masha Slamovich. Things started hot, and Luna showed off her power early on. Lish would fire back with flashy maneuvers, which Luna provided an excellent base for. Lish soaked in the heat as Lars reminisced on meeting Jody Threat, finding her mid-sip on a forty-ounce outside after she got kicked out of his concert. Luna started her comeback with a rope-assisted Blue Thunder Bomb. Both partners get involved, causing a distraction, as Masha storms the ring and hits a beautiful spinning backkick and Snow Plow, assisting Lish to a nice victory.

– A vignette aired for DMTV which Sami Callihan explained as “Death Machine TV, “where he spits and does Sami Callihan things.” It looked to be the beginning of a new chapter for Callihan, who likes to keep things fresh.

Hammerstone defeated Cody Deaner

Hammerstone roasts Cody Deaner’s new attitude and challenges him to an arm wrestling match. Deaner finds it amusing but counters with a “Sin City Street Fight,” ultimately leaving it up to the people to decide. We chose the latter, and the bell rang with Deaner jumping Hammerstone at the start. Hammerstone dominated early on until Deaner could create separation with a steel chair. Hammerstone regained momentum, chokeslamming Deaner through a table and tapping him with the torture rack. After the match, he looked to add insult to injury, but Deaner’s former cousin, Jake Something, made a delayed save. Security got between them until they were roared off, leading to a staredown and Hammerstone removing himself from the ring. It was nice to see Jake Something presented as more of a threat than ever, and Hammerstone is a natural fit for TNA.

– Santino Marella met with Jonathan Gresham and welcomed him back. He eventually shook his hand, which resulted in Gresham inking on him. Gresham was then met by his possible alter ego, donning the Octopus mask.

– Broken Matt Hardy and Speedball Mountain had some fighting words for The System. This was an amusing clash of personalities.

Joe Hendry’s apology song

Hendry had a mic, guitar, rug, and spotlight, and boy, did he shine. Enhanced by AJ Francis’s disgusted expression, Hendry played his greatest hits to remind us of what led to this beef. This warmed the crowd up, preparing them for his apology song, which was to the tune of Creed. With a chorus begging for the former Top Dolla’s release, the concert closed with a fuming First Class and a hot crowd. Great segment.

– Gia Miller introduced The System on stage, who delivered some generic words threatening Matt Hardy and Speedball Mountain. Doing this as a live interview was an interesting choice.

Ace Austin defeated Trey Miguel to earn an X-Division title shot at Under Siege

A rivalry was renewed here, although Trey’s mom was nowhere to be found. Up for grabs, however, was a shot at Mustafa Ali and his X-Division Championship tomorrow night at Under Siege. The match was slower-paced, with both men selling their knees. Eventually, this and a temper tantrum led to The Fold from Ace Austin for a 1-2-3. This was pretty good and set up Ace for what should be a great match with Ali.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defeated Miyu Yamashita to retain the title

The balcony stayed warm as Ash, by Elegance, was welcomed by her Personal Concierge. The match was a display of power vs. striking, with things being evenly matched throughout. Grace and Yamashita met in the middle, colliding with a back fist and kick simultaneously. Some solid exchanges led to a Skull Kick countered into a Juggernaut Driver, allowing Grace to retain. After the match, Kon and Steph De Lander jumped the Champion, promising to snap her neck, before the lights went out and PCO made the save. PCO and Grace cleared the ring and gained momentum, heading into Under Siege.

Final Thoughts:

Under Siege gained momentum this week despite being a largely skippable card on paper.

The X-Division matches tonight were solid. Ace Austin was put in a singles position for tomorrow night, which he always excels in.

The Knockouts division is a bit strange right now, albeit fresh. Kon filling in for Cardona makes the story a bit less natural, but SDL is doing good work as a strong heel character, and I’m curious to see where it goes. Yamashita is one of the best, and I’d love to see her become more comfortable working in America.

Also, Joe Hendry’s performance tonight was fantastic, and he continues to be one of the most valuable pro wrestlers in the world. Seeing how TNA handles his recently acquired success on the music charts should be interesting.

Overall, tonight was a good show, with a lot of promise for future shows and stories.

TNA Rebellion live results: Moose vs. Nic Nemeth

Nic Nemeth will look to add another title to his waist as he challenges Moose for the TNA World Championship in the main event of tonight’s Rebellion pay-per-view from Las Vegas.

In a Knockouts title match, Jordynne Grace will defend against Steph De Lander.

TNA Tag Team Champions The System (Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers) defend against Speedball Mountain (Trent Seven & Mike Bailey) while X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali defends against Jake Something.

In their trilogy bout, Hammerstone will take on Josh Alexander in a Last Man Standing match while veterans Eric Young and Frankie Kazarian attempt to settle their differences in a Full Metal Mayhem match.

The promotion is also teasing a “lights out” surprise at some point during the show in addition to former Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry against former World Champion Rich Swann.

The countdown show will see three bouts including a Knockouts Tag Team title defense, a Digital Media title defense, and a trios match.

Leon Slater & ABC defeated The Rascalz

Trey and Slater started fast, Ace tagged in and pretty much immediately got taken down and double teamed by Trey and Wentz. Reed did a really nice Guillotine Legdrop to Ace when he was splayed on the middle rope. Slater tagged in and looked good until he got cut off and triple teamed with a series of fantastic moves. Slater made the hot tag to Bey and the expected 6-way broke out. ABC used the move formerly known as Chasing The Dragon on Reed for a 2 count and Reed hit a running flip dive over the post to ABC. Slater, not wanting to be shown up, did the exact same thing, which was much more spectacular, to all 3 Rascalz outside the ring. Reed ran across the ring, leaped over the top rope and gave Slater, who was on the apron, a Cutter to ABC, who were both on the floor. After more spectacular moves than I could keep track of, Slater pinned Reed with a 450 Splash. A really good and definitely fun match to kick the show off.

-Gia Miller interviewed AJ Francis and Rich Swann aka First Class about Swann’s match with Joe Hendry. Francis introduced the Man Boy Mafia, which included Shauniee Stylez, Tyrone, Block Boy JB and a woman whose name I didn’t get. Swann said they are about that flash and will kick Joe Hendry’s ass, with the closing line if you’re not First Class, you’re last.

Laredo Kid pinned Crazzy Steve to win the Digital Media Championship

Another fast paced match to start the pre-show. The late-arriving crowd chanted for Steve until he began going for Laredo’s mask. After dropping to the floor when he was doing a headscissors hanging over the top floor, Steve was the victim of a nice Asai Moonsault. Back in the ring, Steve went for a cannonball in the corner, but Kid, who was hanging upside down, did a sit-up to avoid it. Steve did a superplex where he landed high, so he stayed down to sell his head and neck for a minute. Steve went to the top rope, Laredo followed him up and Steve went for the mask again, so Laredo bit him, hit the Spanish Fly (called the Laredo Fly) for the pin and the championship. Not a bad match at all, I always underestimate Crazzy Steve, possibly due to the wacky gimmick.

**********

-Gia Miller interviewed Steph De Lander about her match with Jordynne Grace. They mention Matt Cardona’s injury, saying he won’t be here tonight. De Lander said she will walk out tonight with the title. She doesn’t like or trust Jordynne, so she hired some help
The Good Hands. Hotch and Skylar said they’re still pulling for Mustafa Ali tonight, but they are here to support De Lander.

Knockouts Tag Team Champions Spitfire w/Lars Frederiksen defeated Decay

Yes, this is the actual Lars Frederiksen of Rancid and not a random person using the name.

I love me some Rosemary and the crowd was with me, as they chanted for the Demon Assassin. Lars tried to get Rosemary to give up on the same hanging head scissors Crazzy Steve used and Rosemary backed him down before continuing the match. Threat and Luna worked over Rosemary for a few minutes until she tagged out to Havoc. Havoc dared Luna to run off the ropes and collide, but Luna was briefly smarter than that, as she grabbed a headlock. When that didn’t work, she tried running off the ropes, but ran right into a headbutt that was heard in Reno. Luna did a great job chopping down Havoc and eventually made the hot tag to Threat. Threat ran wild and while the crowd was chanting for Rosemary earlier, they popped big for Threat’s offense. Both Luna and Threat did Suicide Dives to Havoc, who was saved by the guardrail from going down and then Threat did a senton from the top rope to the floor. Threat went for another dive onto Rosemary, but she got cut off by Havoc, however the champs turned the table, carried Havoc from the middle rope across the ring and dropped her with a double powerbomb. Finally Luna pinned Rosemary after some kind of double team drop. The match was better than expected. Hopefully they can make their double team finish a little crisper because this was a little convoluted.

**********

-After the match, Masha Slammovich came out with her chain and was joined by Alisha Edwards and her kendo stick. Spitfire challenged them to get in the ring, but Masha and Alisha were happy to stand on the ramp and challenge.

**********

-Some of Mustafa Ali’s followers came out and said the match between Ali and Jake Something won’t be happening. The guy who had the microphone tripped over his feet getting into the ring and said Something doesn’t meet the qualifications for the X-Division. They sat in the ring for a protest. Cody Deaner stormed out to do what the three referees who came to the ring refused to do and that’s to get these guys out of the ring. Deaner said this was the people’s choice whether or not the match happened. Deaner asked the fans if he should let the guys sit in the ring and hold up the show or force them out of the ring so we can start the show. Shockingly they sided with violence. Deaner kicked one and gave the other a DDT into the crotch of the other one.

Onto the main show! They’re calling this a late-arriving crowd, but there are a lot of empty seats right on camera.

X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali pinned Jake Something

Something is following in the steps of X-Division pioneers like Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash by being a heavyweight doing battle in the X-Division. Ali arrived at the arena in a private car and got a “Goldberg” entrance by being flanked by Secret Service. Just to be nitpicky, they showed the Secret Service following behind him through the backstage area and then, seconds later, when they came out, the Secret Service was in front of Ali.

Something used his immense size advantage to run over Ali and tackle the champ to the ground. Ali got a double thrust to the throat, but then got backdropped over the top rope to the floor. Ali discovered that the best offense was a good defense. First he moved out of Something’s way and Jake punched the ring steps. Then Ali ran and slid through the corner of the ring, Jake followed, but got caught and dropped with a DDT. Ali then got Something on the ramp and did a roll-through neckbreaker, which also sent some of the stage lighting crashing onto a staff member at ringside. The staff member was okay, but Ali was officially in control. I thought they messed up a swinging hurricarana, but instead it was Something blocking it, but rolling through and turning it into a sit-out powerbomb. Something paid tribute to another former X-Division Champion, Abyss, by hitting Shock Treatment for a near fall. They ended up in the corner, but Ali did a German Suplex to the ring apron. Suddenly the Secret Service interfered. One distracted the referee while the other three rolled Something into the ring and held them so Ali could hit a 450 Splash, but Something kicked out. Something began building momentum, so Ali scurried out of the ring, but Something did a tope, clear over the top rope to the pile. Something hit Into The Void inside the ring for a 2 count when Ali got his foot on the ropes. Finally Ali rolled up Something and grabbed the rope for assistance to get the pin.

A really great match to open the ppv.

-Former Buffalo Bill and Los Angeles Charger Shawne Merriman was shown ringside.

Rich Swann w/AJ Francis vs Joe Hendry

Hendry used AI to edit AJ and Swann into his opening video package. Legitimately I thought Swann and AJ had edited it to mess with Hendry and wouldn’t have known differently had Tom Hannifan not said how great it was. Hendry cut a promo saying that this proves Swann and Francis are fans and have come down with a severe case of Hendry Mania. When you come down with Hendry Mania, it causes fans to chant “We Believe”.

Swann took over quickly thanks to a Francis distraction and shoved Hendry’s eyeball into the corner of the ring steps. Tom brought up Seth Rollins doing that to Rey Mysterio, which he was in WWE during. The fans chanted “Dollar Tree” at AJ while Swann worked the eye. Gotta say I’ve never used that phrase while talking about wrestling before. He didn’t seem picky about which eye, as he kicked at both sides of the head. Hendry fought out of a Guillotine and turned it into a suplex. Francis jumped on the apron and got knocked right off of it before back dropping Swann, who took a 360 bump. Francis yanked down the apron and Hendry tumbled outside and then got a chain from Shauniee Stylez, who was also at ringside. However, Shawne Merriman grabbed it and then got in the ring, challenging AJ to follow. AJ joined him, but Shawne backed him down
before knocking Hendry down with a nasty clothesline. The referee was distracted yelling at Francis to get down and Swann won with a Frog Splash.

I never liked Shawne Merriman. He was on the Bills when we were awful. Anyway the rest of the Manboy Mafia got in the ring and the girl grinded on Hendry’s dead body before they all celebrated together. This was the weakest match so far, but still nothing bad at all.

**********

Frankie Kazarian defeated Eric Young in a Full Metal Mayhem Match

Full Metal Mayhem is essentially TNA’s version of TLC where all metal objects are legal, but since there were no titles involved, this was just a hardcore match. I would ask what the difference between this and Monster’s Ball or just a street fight would be, but there are too many examples of this in wrestling.

Kazarian tried to attack during EY’s entrance, but Young just cracked him with his hockey mask. Young suplexed a ladder onto Kazarian and then set up a ladder bridge, however Kaz turned the tables and sent Young face-first into it. A table got set up and both men teased giving the other a big move off the apron, but neither went through it. Kazarian yelled at the crowd to “Shut up and acknowledge me as your king”, which seems to be conflicting advice. Kazarian set Young on a ladder and went for a Springboard Legdrop, but Young moved out of the way. Young pulled out a baking tray and trash can lid, but then pulled out Abyss’ old nail covered board Janice. Both tried to shove each other’s face into the only weapon ever named after Dixie Carter’s Mom. Young did the Ric Flair flip over the top turnbuckle, but as he ran down the apron, Kazarian speared him through the ropes and through the table that had been set up previously. Back in the ring we got the “Yay”/”Boo” spot and then we had Dueling Baking Trays. Just gonna say this once, I am not a fan of people doing unprotected weapon shots to the head, even if it’s “just” a baking tray. Kazarian briefly wrapped a chain around Young’s neck and used a Crossface Chicken Wing, but Young broke free and used the chain to yank Kazarian off the top rope. Young put a metal trash can on Kazarian’s top half, did a few clotheslines and a top rope elbow and I gotta say they make aluminum trash cans sturdier than they used to because this one did not want to bend. Anyway, Kazarian used an Unprettier on a ladder and set up a table while the fans chanted for fire. Young blocked Kazarian from doing some kind of offensive maneuver and followed up to the top rope, but Kazarian blocked that and did a Flux Capacitor to Young for the pin. Unfortunately they didn’t get all the way over and Young crashed head-first through the edge of the table and was busted open hardway.

That was a really good match and different from everything we’ll see tonight.

**********

-Gia Miller interviewed Nic Nemeth about the match with Moose. Nemeth said his dad and family are in the crowd to see him. Nemeth said the roster, the crowd and the world is ready for him to become World Champion and plans to prove he is the best.

**********

-I mentioned the empty seats before, but it appears to be full now, so I guess it really was a late-arriving crowd.

**********

-Steve Maclin came out in his gear and had a copy of a new contract he got this morning. He said he got every demand he wanted in his contract. Good for him. However, there is one more demand he has, which is a match right here and now. Well, I mean he got everything else he wanted.

Santino Marella came out and said he has signed a brand new superstar, who is eager to get started and will make his debut right now against Maclin. Out came Mike Santana, who was in TNA as part of LAX 2.0 before AEW began. He was a former Impact Tag Team Champion with Ortiz and feuded with oVe, the original LAX and the Lucha Brothers during the dark period of Impact.

Mike Santana pinned Steve Maclin

This was such a surprise that they immediately put up a graphic for Mike Santana merchandise. Santana ran wild at the bell, including doing a tope where he nearly flew into the 2nd row, however Maclin posted him and dropped him on the ring apron to take over. In the ring, Santana was hung upside down in the corner, but sat up to avoid a charging Maclin and began his comeback with a rolling Cutter. Cutler hit the Busaiku Knee when Santana was going for Spin The Block, but Santana quickly cut him off again. Santana went for it again, but it got cut off again. Santana blocked KIA and finally hit Spin The Block for the win.

This was a big win for Santana, cleanly pinning a former World Champion in his first match. It would have been bigger had Maclin been protected more since losing the title, but it’s still a big win. The match itself was fine.

**********

-Gia Miller interviewed The System and started by asking Alisha if Masha is part of The System. Brian Myers was visibly frustrated that Gia immediately asked Alisha a question before their tag team title match. Anyway, Brian and Eddie vowed to beat Speedball Mountain. Then Moose had a spoiler alert for Nic Nemeth’s family
Moose will leave as World Champion. Plus he says he has a surprise for Nemeth and introduces The Predator John Abraham to be in his corner. Abraham played for the Jets, Cardinals and Falcons and had 133.5 sacks in his career. We are certainly full of non-wrestlers tonight.

**********

Tag Team Champions Brian Meyers & Eddie Edwards w/Alisha Edwards defeated Speedball Mountain

The match started and Trent Seven was looking out at the crowd, so while Meyers beat on Mike Bailey, Edwards knocked Seven off the apron. The challengers teamed up to take turns chopping Eddie as Tom Hannifan listed great teams to be the TNA Tag Team Champions and mentioned America’s Most Wanted. I know I am nit-picking, but AMW were never TNA Champions, they were NWA Tag Team Champions. I’d have been less nitpicky if Tom hadn’t mentioned these belts were created in 2007. Anyway, while I was ranting, Eddie dropped Seven knee-first on the ring steps to take over. Seven was able to make the tag and Bailey’s feet ran wild on both heels. Seven came in and gave Meyers a superplex and Bailey used a Shooting Star Headbutt (because Meyers was a little too far away) for a 2 count. The challengers went for a double team, but Edwards tripped Bailey and dragged him out of the ring as Meyers cut off Seven. Edwards used a Tiger Driver and transitioned that into a single-leg crab. Bailey tried to crawl in for the save, but got momentarily caught in a Crossface. Bailey got out of it, but instead of breaking up the submission on his partner immediately, he slowly built up to the spot where he kicked Edwards repeatedly to eventually break it up. If I was Seven, I wouldn’t have been thrilled. Seven tried to pick Edwards up for a Burning Hammer, but his knee went out. The champs hit a double team backpack Stunner/Top Rope Elbow, but Seven kicked out. Seven finally hit the Burning Hammer and Bailey hit the Shooting Star Knees to Edwards’ back, but Meyers speared Bailey on top of the pile, breaking up Seven’s pinfall attempt. Bailey ran down the apron for a dive to Meyers, but Brian hit a Spear to cut him off. In the ring, Seven tried to hold his own, but got pinned after a Roster Cut and Boston Knee Party.

This match was pretty damn good.

Josh Alexander defeated Hammerstone in a Last Man Standing Match

This is their 3rd match, having split their first two matches.

Hammerstone came out wearing Alexander’s headgear as an elbow pad. This was a hard hitting match from the opening bell. Hammerstone popped right up from a German Suplex and used a Belly to Belly overhead suplex that Alexander got right back up from. Josh ended up on the apron and blocked a running boot and dropped Hammerstone with a power slam on the ring apron, but the former MLW Champion got up at 6. Alexander went to the top, but he got press slammed off and onto the ring apron. Hammerstone used a delayed vertical suplex on the floor for another count of 6. Hammerstone yelled that Josh should have stayed down, so Josh slapped him and used a half-nelson suplex on the ring apron. That apron sure is the MVP of this match. Hammerstone sold his neck, but got up at 8. Alexander used the figure four around the ring post, but Hammerstone wasn’t able to reach Alexander’s leg, but thankfully Alexander didn’t take a nasty bump on the floor. In the ring Hammerstone cracked Alexander in the ear with the headgear, which led to his ear getting busted open. I imagine it was hardway, since I can’t believe someone would blade their ear. Tom Hannifan did a great job explaining that Alexander wears headgear because of an ear injury earlier in his career, which is literally the first time I ever heard anyone explain that. Hammerstone laid Alexander’s head against the ring post and went for a running boot. I started typing “but Alexander moved” and then Alexander never moved and Hammerstone booted his head against the post. However Alexander got up at 8 and did a fantastic job selling how discombobulated he was. Alexander barely beat the count on a Torture Rack Drop and hit a Pump Kick, but Alexander laughed, tripped up his larger for and locked on an Ankle Lock. Alexander just wrecked Hammerstone’s leg and midsection, but Hammerstone blocked the C4 Spike. That may have been a bad idea because Alexander responded by kicking Hammerstone’s head off. Alexander reached under the ring and got a black bag, which was full of thumbtacks. At this point I am just waiting for Abyss to come out after all these references to him tonight. They fought on the middle rope, with Hammerstone doing a headbutt to the ear and bringing Alexander down with a Nightmare Pendulum into the thumbtacks. Honestly Hammerstone may have gotten the worst of them, as he had a bunch of tacks in his thighs, while Alexander seemed to have a lot fewer. Anyway, Josh got to his feet at 9 and Hammerstone grabbed the headgear as they fought to the ramp. Alexander hit a few blows to the head and a C4 Spike on the ramp for the win as Hammerstone’s last gasp led to him falling flat on his face. Alexander grabbed his headgear before walking off.

This was a fantastic match and, in my opinion, the best match of a very good show so far.

-We got a video of Jonathan Grisham, which started with him in a board room and then he began talking about himself in the third person about how when he puts on a mask he becomes his true self. He began choking up ink before showing him in a mask on the other side of the room. This was weird, but kinda cool.

Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defeated Steph De Lander w/The Good Hands

Before the match began, George Iceman was in a skybox and introduced Ash By Elegance, who appeared to watch from the skybox.

De Lander bullied Grace into the corner to start the match, since she is 8 inches taller, but Grace got out of it. They were on different pages early and Grace did a Suicide Dive where she pretty much landed on her head. From the apron, De Lander used a TKO that Grace went throat-first onto the top rope to take over. It settled down from here. Grace punched De Lander in the stomach and she responded by yelling at Grace to do it again. However, when Grace did it, she didn’t seem happy. Oh well, some people can’t be satisfied. Every time Grace would string together a few blows, De Lander would just knock her right down. Grace got on a rear naked choke and De Lander used up all her energy to try to stop her. De Lander’s hand dropped 3 times, but one of the Good Hands hopped on the apron to distract the referee. The other one threw the title belt to De Lander, but Grace ducked it, however Grace took out the referee with a spinning back fist. De Lander took out Grace with the title belt and one of the Good Hands took the referee’s shirt off, put it on and went for the cover, but the lights went out! When they came back on
PCO was in the ring and took out both Good Hands. I may have been disappointed in the lights out surprise, but the fans weren’t. They popped for it. De Lander tried to rub PCO’s chest, but PCO grabbed her throat for a chokeslam. Out ran Big Kon, who took out PCO when Grace got to her feet and got face-to-belly button with him. He shoved Grace down, so Grace punched him low. Kon, on his knees, was almost as tall as Grace. She picked Kon up for a Juggernaut Driver, but was cut off by Hotch and Skylar. Kon went to snap Grace’s neck, when the lights went out again and when they came back on, Sami Callihan was here! Callihan is back and he took out Kon and both Good Hands by himself. Callihan gave Hotch Cactus Driver 97. Callihan threw De Lander in the ring, where she got dropped by a Juggernaut Driver and a 2nd referee ran down for the 3 count. Where the Hell was this referee during the last 5 minutes?

Matthew Rehwaldt said the last 5 minutes were a fever dream and I would agree with him. This was definitely a different title match than we’ve been used to.

-TNA Slammiversary was announced for July 20 in Montreal at Verdun Auditorium.

World Champion Moose defeated Nic Nemeth

Nic’s father Don and brother Ryan were shown in the crowd. He said his entire family was here and I am not going to judge him, but after seeing Mark Briscoe’s entire family, I was expecting more than 2 people.

Nemeth used his speed early, which is weird because Moose is deceptively fast, but that’s what we’re going with. Nemeth threw Moose out of the ring and went for a dive, but he got caught and dropped outside the ring. Inside the ring, Nemeth is doing a great job selling, but throws Moose to the ramp. Moose went for a powerbomb, but Nemeth turned it into a hurricarana where Moose rolled into the ring. Nemeth went for a superkick, but Alisha grabbed his foot. The referee, who didn’t see her do it, just threw Alisha, Eddie and Meyers out of the ringside area. With the distraction, Nemeth hit a superkick for a near fall. Nemeth locks on a sleeper and covers Moose’s eye to the point where when Moose tried to climb to the middle rope, it took him 3 tries because he couldn’t see the rope and kept slipping on it. Eventually he got his foot to the middle rope and fell backwards, dropping Nemeth to the mat. They end up outside the ring where Nemeth does a Famouser off the ramp to the floor and then has to break land speed records to jump into the ring and break up the count, which was at 9. Speaking of 9, back in the ring, Nemeth hit 9 successive elbow drops, but Moose rolled to the floor to avoid the 10th. However Moose wasn’t too smart about it, as he rolled outside to lay on the ground, so Nemeth hit the 10th by diving off the ring apron. Moose hit a headbutt in the ring, called Nemeth a son of a bitch and then yanked Nemeth off the middle rope with a ring rocking Sky-High (sit out spinebuster). A series of reversals ended with a Moose power bomb in the ring and then he finally hit the power bomb on the ramp, which somehow took out not only the same lights Ali took out earlier, but also the video for a second. Nemeth barely dragged himself into the ring before the count of 10. Moose went for a moonsault that Nemeth side-stepped and used a leg lariat for a 2 count. They went into the “Yay”/”Boo” spot that evolved into dueling kicks to the head. Moose went head over heels on a clothesline that I don’t think he was supposed to do and Nemeth hit his own version of the Spear for a 2 count. Moose side stepped another superkick and hit his own version of the spear to retain the title. I think Moose may have hurt himself on that flip bump because the match got a little wonky towards the end.

This was a very good match, but not nearly as good as the Alex Shelley match in January. As The System came out to celebrate, the lights went out again and this time when they came back on, it was Broken Matt Hardy, making his return to TNA. This was unexpected, as he laid out Moose with a Twist Of Fate and led the crowd in chants of DELETE as the show faded to black.

Poor Moose, we’re currently 2-for-2 in 2024 with Moose’s ppv main event victories being interrupted by debuting stars.

Jordynne Grace appears via video on Sendai Girls show, issues challenge

Jordynne Grace has unfinished business with Chihiro Hashimoto.

Grace made a surprise appearance via video on today’s Sendai Girls show in Korakuen Hall and challenged Hashimoto to a rematch of their 2019 title clash.

Grace said:

Hashimoto, I missed you so much. Five years ago, you beat me in the main event at Korakuen Hall and honestly, I haven’t been able to forget about it. It’s plagued me ever since.

I’ve changed a lot since then. I’m bigger, I’m stronger, I’m better than ever, hell, I’ve been Knockouts World Champion three times since we last wrestled. But most importantly, I am 100 percent confident that you can’t beat me again.

Grace then issued a challenge to Hashimoto for the Sendai Girls show on July 15, which is also scheduled for Korakuen Hall.

Hashimoto defeated Grace in their first contest to retain the Sendai Girls World Title on April 16, 2019.

It was a busy weekend for Grace, as she was in Australia for Starrcast Down Under. She successfully defended her TNA Knockouts title against Delta at Mickie James’ all-female show H.E.R on Friday as part of the event.

TNA Impact live results: Monster’s Ball match

The two have been feuding for several months with the latest chapter being Kon costing PCO the Digital Media title in his challenge of champion Crazzy Steve.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and top contender Steph De Lander will sign the contract for their title match at this month’s Rebellion. Matt Cardona will accompany SDL tonight so anything could happen.

TNA World Champion Moose will take on Trent Seven in a non-title match as Seven & Mike Bailey prepare to challenge Moose’s System teammates Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards for the TNA Tag Team titles at Rebellion.

Former tag champions ABC (Chris Bey & Ace Austin) will take on First Class (AJ Francis & Rich Swann).

The aforementioned Digital Media title will be on the line as Crazzy Steve defends against Laredo Kid.

Our live coverage will begin at 8:30 PM Eastern.

**********

iMPACT! opened with Hammerstone and Josh Alexander beating the hell out of one another with Alexander being busted open as security attempted to intervene but weren’t very successful. Tommy Dreamer then made his way to ringside to calm Alexander down and asked him to head to the back before turning his attention to Hammerstone who was now in the ring.

Dreamer entered the ring and told Hammerstone that they were in front of the best fans in the world and that Hammerstone was in TNA Wrestling because of him. Dreamer told Hammerstone that there was too much going on tonight for them to be brawling before Rebellion.

Dreamer told Hammerstone to head to the back but as Tommy was heading out of the ring, Hammerstone nailed him from behind before locking in him the Torture Rack. Alexander returned to ringside to save Dreamer and then made the announcement that at Rebellion, they would battle in a Last Man Standing match.

Crazzy Steve defeated Laredo Kid by disqualification to retain the Digital Media title

After some quick back and forth action in the first few moments, Steve started playing mind games and was able to gain some momentum. Kid attempted a comeback but Steve’s aggressive ground game was enough to keep his momentum going before locking Kid in a submission.

Kid would finally mount a comeback and after some near falls, nailed Steve with a Michinoku Driver in the corner. Kid attempted to follow up by heading to the top rope but was Steve was able to knock him down into a tree of woe and then followed up with a diving attack in the corner.

Steve refused to let up on his aggressive tactics and after getting a near fall of his own, focused on tearing the mask off of Kid. Kid finally snapped and after landing some major blows to Steve, refused to let up in the corner and shoved the referee when he was told to back off forcing a disqualification.

– It was announced that Against All Odds this year would take place at Cicero Stadium in Chicago, Illinois on Friday, June 14th with tickets going on sale on Saturday, April 20th.

– Backstage, Alex Shelley apologized to Chris Sabin and KUSHIDA for wanting to do things on his own and stated that Time Machine was much greater as a unit. Sabin and KUSHIDA accepted his apology and agreed with him.

First Cla$$ (AJ Francis & Rich Swann) defeated ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey)

Austin and Swann started the match but before they locked up, Swann quickly tagged out to Francis.

Francis attempted a test of strength but Bey side stepped and soon used his quickness to gain some early momentum. Francis would capitalize and Swann was tagged back in but Austin was quickly able to tag out to Bey as well and it became all ABC.

Bey attempted to land a dive over the top rope to Francis on the floor but AJ caught him. Austin was able to make the save but this only angered Francis as he quickly recovered and we saw both members of ABC down and out as we headed to commercial.

We’re back from commercial and Francis is laying a beating on Austin inside of the ring. Austin managed to persevere and both Francis and Austin made tags to their partners. After some quick offense by ABC, Francis managed to catch both of them at the same time before planting them down hard to the canvas.

Swann attempted a 450 on Austin but failed and ABC started capitalizing when Francis attempted a double suplex on both Austin and Bey but instead found himself on the receiving end of a death valley driver.

ABC attempted an assisted Art of Finesse on Swann but Bey was met with a neckbreaker instead. Swann then rolled up Austin and with a handful of tights, scored the 1-2-3 for his team.

After the match, Joe Hendry appeared with a mic in hand. Hendry recited verses from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song before referring to Francis as Uncle Phil in which the crowd started chanting. Hendry then stated that he spoke to Santino Marella and announced that it would be Hendy and Swann at Rebellion.

– Backstage, Santino Marella was met by Ash by Elegance and The Personal Concierge. They stated that Ash was ready for her Knockouts title match at Rebellion but instead of agreeing to make it happen, Marella left them hanging instead.

– Backstage, Mustafa Ali was with the Grizzled Young Vets. Ali vented that his match at Rebellion should not be taking place before Jake Something interrupted and stated that the match was indeed going to take place.

Jordynne Grace and Steph De Lander (w/Matt Cardona) in a Rebellion Contract Signing

Santino Marella was in the ring and introduced both De Lander and Grace to the ring. Marella welcomed both women but before anything more could be said, Cardona put over the King and Queen being present and stated that SDL was going to become the new Knockouts champion at Rebellion as De Lander signed the contract.

Grace then put over her own accomplishments before Cardona took offense to Jordynne’s claim about the Digital Media title. De Lander then stated that they didn’t have enough time to talk about all of her accomplishments but Grace countered by stating that she’s beaten her before, beaten her boyfriend before and beaten her boyfriend’s wife before. As both Cardona and De Lander started fuming, Grace followed up by calling Cardona a b****.

As Cardona was going nuts and the fans were chanting b****, Grace finally signed the contract. Grace and then De Lander shook hands but as the aggression was high, a brawl ensued and after Marella was knocked down and out, De Lander put Grace through a table before posing with the title.

– Backstage, Masha Slamovich was interrupted by The System and Eddie Edwards stated that her and Alisha could make a great tag team. Slamovich then gave them an answer in Russian and left as Eddie, Alisha and Brian Myers looked confused.

– A video promo aired focusing on Jonathan Gresham in a board room full of people, reflecting on the masks he wears in life.

Moose (w/The System) defeated Trent Seven (w/Mike Bailey) in a non-title match

Seven attempted to match power with Moose in the early moments but it wasn’t a great idea as several chops by Seven were met with one huge grounding chop by Moose.

Seven wouldn’t give up however and after landing multiple more chops, finally sent Moose off his feet with a DDT. Both men then exchanged blows back and forth but as Seven looked like he was ready to setup the Burning Hammer, he was met with a massive spear instead as Moose picked up the victory looking very strong going into Rebellion just nine days away.

After the match, The System entered the ring looking to do more damage but Mike Bailey entered the ring as well. Bailey was cornered quickly and after he managed to hold his own for a second or so, The System was on the attack. Before they could inflict too much damage, Time Machine hit the ring to make the save.

– Backstage, Santino Marella was interrupted by The System, who were angry about what just took place. Marella stated that The System would defend the world tag team titles next week against the Motor City Machine Guns and the winners would battle Speedball Mountain at Rebellion. Marella was then interrupted by Decay who stated they wanted their rematch for the Knockouts world tag team titles at Rebellion in which Marella agreed.

Jake Something defeated James Drake (w/Zack Gibson)

Something immediately used his power game to gain the early advantage but having Gibson out at ringside meant Drake could easily switch momentum at any given time which happened multiple times in the first few moments of the match.

After Something had Drake setup in the corner, he went to the opposite corner but Gibson grabbed his leg allowing Drake to land a running dropkick. Gibson then followed up by choking Something with his scarf as Drake distracted the referee.

This was enough to ignite Cody Deaner, who hit ringside to even up the odds. Deaner took out Gibson and Something followed up by nailing Drake with Into The Void the get the 1-2-3.

After the match, Mustafa Ali came down to the ring with a mic but was quickly quieted as Something dove to the outside over the top rope taking out his campaign before grabbing Ali himself.

The Grizzled Young Vets would recover however and nail Something with Grit Your Teeth. Deaner attempted to make the save but after he was taken out, Something was finished off as well as Ali and GYV proved to be too powerful.

PCO defeated Kon in a Monster’s Ball match

No food, no water, no light for the past 24 hours and it was the 58th Monster’s Ball about to create havoc here this week.

After both men started in what looked like a traditional wrestling match, they decided that was enough as PCO grabbed a kendo stick and Kon grabbed a steel chair. Kon gained early momentum as PCO’s kendo stick was no match. Kon found himself on the outside of the ring and PCO looked to capitalize with a dive through the ropes but was met head first with a garbage can instead.

Kon continued the momentum inside of the ring and after trapping PCO with a trashcan in the middle of the ring, Kon wrapped his arm in a steel chain and beat down on PCO trapped inside. Kon followed up by setting up a table ringside but before he could attempt to piledrive PCO through it, he was sent flying off of the ring apron.

PCO followed up with a somersault dive to the floor wiping out Kon and then set him up on the table that had been previously setup on the floor. PCO climbed to the top rope and as Kon laid helpless, PCO nailed him with a Deanimator.

Kon would once again make a comeback using a kendo stick but it was short lived. After he climbed to the top rope, PCO sent him flying through a table to the floor below. PCO then setup a bridged ladder from the ring apron to a ladder setup at ringside and had a wicked finish in mind but after he setup Kon and climbed to the top rope, he crashed and burned hard through the ladder instead.

Kon capitalized and that magical black bag appeared as both men were back in the ring. Kon dumped out thumbtacks everywhere including the mouth of PCO before applying a chinlock to the French Canadian Frankenstein. PCO spit out the tacks and soon started to gain the final advantage he needed.

After dumping tacks over the body of a grounded Kon, PCO looked to finish him off. PCO climbed to the top rope and with a massive PCOsault, scored the victory in the 58th edition of Monster’s Ball.

Final Thoughts:

We’re nine days away from Rebellion and it will be interesting to see who walks out with gold that night.

Steph De Lander looked strong tonight and seeing her put Jordynne Grace through that table makes me believe she can knock the Juggernaut off of the mountain and become Queen of the Knockouts division.

The same can be said with regards to Speedball Mountain as Trent Seven stood his ground with Moose tonight and with The System battling MCMG next week with the titles on the line, Speedball Mountain will have an opportunity to simply watch on and create a game plan.

Speaking of Moose, he’s looking more powerful and dominant than ever before and I honestly don’t think at this point that even Nick Nemeth will be able to change that. You add the fact that Moose has got The System by his side and I’m predicting now, #AndSTILL at Rebellion.

Solid show by TNA Wrestling tonight and I’m looking forward to the go-home edition next week!

Next Week:

  • The System defend the world tag team titles against the Motor City Machine Guns
  • Hammerstone will be in action
  • Nic Nemeth will share his final thoughts going into Rebellion
