New tag team champions crowned at NWA 73

La Rebelion defeated Aron Stevens and JR Kratos Sunday at NWA 73 for the Tag Team titles, ending the champions’ ten-month reign.

The end came when Bestia 666 hit a moonsault off the top rope to the floor on Kratos, followed by Bestia and Mecha Wolf connecting for Mark of the Beast on Stevens for the pin.

Despite having friction between them over the past few months, Stevens and Kratos didn’t split up or fight after the match. They won the titles back in November 2020 at a UWN Primetime Live event, defeating Eli Drake and James Storm.

This is the first NWA gold for either Bestia 666 or Mecha Wolf who were accompanied by Konnan.

NWA 73 was the second pay-per-view in as many nights for the company and the second night that saw new Tag Team Champions crowned.

At Saturday’s Empower, Allysin Kay and Marti Belle became the promotion’s first Women’s Tag Team Champions since 1984 by defeating KiLynn King and Red Velvet in a four-team, one night tournament.

New champions crowned at NWA Hard Times

New champions were crowned tonight at NWA Hard Times.

Ricky Starks defeated Trevor Murdoch in the main event of tonight’s show to become the new NWA World Television champion. Starks defeated Murdoch with the stroke. Starks won a one-night tournament to win the championship, also defeating Tim Storm and Matt Cross.

It was announced on December 14 that the NWA would be reintroducing the Television title, with the first champion being crowned at Hard Times. The design is similar to the NWA World Television title used in Jim Crockett Promotions during the 1980s.

The Women’s championship also changed hands. Thunder Rosa defeated Allysin Kay after countering Kay’s escape from an armbar with a Thunder Driver. This ends Kay’s run as champion after 273 days, defeating Santana Garrett back on April 29.

New NWA Tag Team champions were also crowned on the show, with James Storm and Eli Drake defeating The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to win the titles. This ends Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson’s fifth run with the titles after 115 days, originally winning them back on October 1.

NWA to crown Tag Team Champions at Crockett Cup

The NWA has added some additional stakes to tonight’s Crockett Cup tournament.

It was announced this afternoon that the winners of the Crockett Cup will also become the NWA Tag Team Champions. This will be the fourth championship the NWA has featured in the Billy Corgan era, joining the Worlds Heavyweight Championship, the World Women’s Championship, and the National title.

The Crockett Cup is an eight-team, one-night tournament. The left side of the bracket has The Briscoes vs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata vs. PCO & Brody King. The matchups on the right side of the bracket are Stuka Jr. & Guerrero Maya Jr. vs. Flip Gordon & Bandido and Jax Dane & Crimson vs. the winners of a wild card battle royal.

A new NWA Women’s Champion will also be crowned tonight as Allysin Kay (formerly known as Sienna in Impact Wrestling) faces Santana Garrett for the title, which was vacated by Jazz earlier this week.

There are two other title matches on tonight’s card. Nick Aldis will defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Marty Scurll, and Willie Mack will defend the National title against Colt Cabana.

The Crockett Cup is airing live on HonorClub, Fite TV, and pay-per-view and will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
