Sting to appear at Starrcast during AEW All In week

Sting is set for a convention appearance in Texas during AEW All In week.

It was announced today that Sting will be appearing at Starrcast Texas, which is taking place at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel on Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12. Starrcast is organized by podcast host Conrad Thompson, who is collaborating with AEW as the official convention partner of All In 2025.

Sting lives in Texas and is expected to be in attendance at the All In pay-per-view. Though he retired from the ring in 2024, the 66-year-old Sting remains with AEW on a licensing contract.

This appearance is part of Sting’s “2025 or Never” convention tour. While he’ll still be taking convention bookings after this year, he has announced that he’ll no longer be appearing in the full Sting costume and makeup once 2025 is over.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm, Swerve Strickland, Mina Shirakawa, Bryan Danielson, The Opps, The Hurt Syndicate, and Ric Flair are also among the first slate of names announced for Starrcast Texas.

Moxley and Storm already have title defenses booked for All In, facing off against Hangman Page and Mercedes Mone in those respective matches. The PPV is taking place at Globe Life Field in Arlington on the afternoon of July 12.

Also today, AEW announced a new event for All In week where fans can sing karaoke with wrestlers from the promotion. Thunder Rosa, Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Big Bill, Bryan Keith, and The Outrunners are advertised. The Champions Ballroom inside the Sheraton Arlington Hotel is hosting the karaoke event on Thursday, July 10.

Starrcast returning as part of AEW All In Texas week

Starrcast is returning to where it all began.

Conrad Thompson announced today at the AEW All In Texas media event at Globe Life Field that his popular convention will return in July 2025 as part of All In week in Arlington.

“I’m proud to announce right here today, Tony, that All In is now a week. It is going to be a destination. Starrcast is coming back to All In right here in Arlington,” Thompson said at today’s event.

“It’s all about nostalgia. This is about a celebration, a love letter for wrestling fans. A friend of mine once called it the Woodstock of wrestling. Something for everybody. Multiple generations, the favorite Hall of Famers, the favorite legends, and the stars of the day, and also interactive experiences you can’t do anywhere else.”

The first-ever Starrcast coincided with 2018’s All In, which The Elite promoted in conjunction with Ring of Honor. Six Starrcast events have followed. In 2019, Starrcast II was held in Las Vegas, coinciding with the inaugural AEW pay-per-view, Double or Nothing. Two more events were held that year, with the first in Chicago for All Out and the second in Baltimore as part of the first Full Gear PPV.

Starrcast then returned in 2022 with an event in Nashville as part of SummerSlam weekend and Ric Flair’s Last Match. Starrcast VI was back in the Chicago area in 2023 and then traveled to Australia in April 2024 for Starrcast DownUnder.

Starrcast files trademark for ‘SuperClash’

Starrcast has filed to trademark the term “SuperClash” for wrestling purposes.

SuperClash was a series of wrestling events promoted by the AWA in 1985, 1987, 1988, and 1990. The first AWA SuperClash took place on September 28, 1985, from Chicago’s Comiskey Park. The event featured Ric Flair defending the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Magnum T.A, The Road Warriors vs. The Fabulous Freebirds, and Rick Martel defending the AWA World Championship against Stan Hansen.

Conrad Thompson’s company submitted the filing on September 7. It comes one month after they filed to trademark the term ‘Southwest Championship Wrestling,’ which was the name of a promotion owned by Joe Blanchard out of San Antonio from 1978 to 1985.

The purposes of the SuperClash trademark are listed as “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestling and sports entertainers in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes.” As well as “Hats; Shirts; Bandanas; Shirts and short-sleeved shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts.”

Thompson alluded to having a “master plan” that he has yet to unveil during an episode of My World with Jeff Jarrett last month.

“You and I talked about this over a year ago,” Thompson said to Jarrett. “I said, ‘no, I’m not doing wrestling, I’m not promoting wrestling, I’m not negotiating finishes, I don’t want to be involved in the politics.’ I like my lane but this opportunity [Ric Flair’s Last Match] presented itself. The real story that we’re not talking about, we will tell you one day, but this is part of a bigger master plan, and no it does not involve Ric Flair wrestling again but the entrepreneur brain kicked off and I saw an opportunity for Sunday and I said, ‘if I don’t do it, I’ll wonder what if, so let’s do it.’ We rolled the dice, I couldn’t be more tickled with the results.”

Starrcast files trademark for ‘Southwest Championship Wrestling’

Conrad Thompson’s Starrcast LLC has filed to trademark the name, ‘Southwest Championship Wrestling’

SCW was a promotion owned by Joe Blanchard and run out of San Antonio, Texas from 1978 to 1985.

The purposes of the trademark are listed as “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network” as well as goods and services such as, “Bandanas; Hats; Shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts.”

The filings were submitted on August 5.

Earlier this week, Thompson teased that Ric Flair’s Last Match was part of a “bigger master plan” while speaking on My World with Jeff Jarrett.

“You and I talked about this over a year ago,” Thompson said to Jarrett. “I said, ‘no, I’m not doing wrestling, I’m not promoting wrestling, I’m not negotiating finishes, I don’t want to be involved in the politics.’ I like my lane but this opportunity presented itself. The real story that we’re not talking about, we will tell you one day, but this is part of a bigger master plan and no it does not involve Ric Flair wrestling again but the entrepreneur brain kicked off and I saw an opportunity for Sunday and I said, ‘if I don’t do it, I’ll wonder what if, so let’s do it.’ We rolled the dice, I couldn’t be more tickled with the results.”

Last week, Booker T revealed on his Hall of Fame radio show that Thompson had approached him about having a match at Starrcast next year.

“I was approached actually to have a final match next year at Starrcast. Harlem Heat’s final match, here in Texas. I said, ā€˜Hell no. We ain’t doing none of that.’ I just had a match a couple of weeks ago, my knee was killing me. I can only imagine what it’s going to feel like next year. Y’all can forget about seeing me do one last match.”

“The thing is, I’m still working, I’m still having matches. You’re just never going to see me have a ā€˜last match.’ You’re never going to see me do much in the ring. I’m never going to build up a match like I’m doing a whole lot. ā€˜One tag in, one tag out. That’s it, I’m done, where’s my check?’ I learned from one of my teachers back in the day, ā€˜Hacksaw’ Butch Reed. I got to tag with him down in the Global Wrestling Federation, and he said ā€˜Man, I’m coming in one time. I’m coming out and asking for my check.’ That’s the way you do it.”

NJPW Music City Mayhem announced for Starrcast V weekend

NJPW has announced an event for Starrcast V weekend in Nashville.

Starrcast and NJPW have announced Starrcast V for Saturday, July 30 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nashville Fairgrounds. The show will air live on FITE TV.

No matches or talent have been announced for Music City Mayhem as of yet. Tickets for the event will go on sale Monday, June 27 at 10 a.m. Central time, with ticket prices ranging from $35-$149.

It is unclear at this point whether the event will be an NJPW Strong taping, or an event with main roster NJPW talent, similar to Windy City Riot and Capital Collision held earlier this year.

July 30 is the same day that WWE SummerSlam will be held in Nashville at Nissan Stadium.

Starrcast V will run from July 29-July 31 at the Fairgrounds, with the weekend capped by the Ric Flair’s last match event on Sunday, July 31 at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

Two matches announced for ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ event

Jim Crockett Promotions and Starrcast have announced two matches for the undercard of Ric Flair’s Last Match.

Impact World Champion Josh Alexander will defend his title against Jacob Fatu on the show. A match pitting The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) and The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) was announced by Conrad Thompson as well.

Starrcast would later reveal that NJPW will take part in the event as well, although it is not clear in what capacity the promotion will be involved.

A press conference for the event was held in Nashville on Thursday with Flair, David Crockett, Jeff Jarrett and Nashville Deputy Mayor Brenda Haywood in attendance. Further details regarding Flair’s match on the show were not revealed, however.

Flair was asked if he was able to drop any hints as to who might be in the ring with him that night.

“I can’t because I’m not booking it. I’m truly not. My heart is invested in this and I’m just thankful for the opportunity,” Flair responded.

He was also asked what he would look for in a potential opponent.

“Someone that can wrestle, that can work. Doesn’t have to be a big name, doesn’t have to be anybody, just somebody who can work.”

“There’s a lot of talent out there that should be wrestling and they are not, who knows why?”

It was also revealed that in honor of his son Reid, Flair’s retirement robe will be raffled with proceeds benefiting The First Step Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping people recover from addiction.

Nashville Deputy Mayor Brenda Haywood announced that July 31 will officially be “Ric Flair Day” in the city.

Ric Flair’s Last Match will take place Sunday, July 31 from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium as part of Starrcast V. It will air live on FITE TV.

  • Ric Flair’s last match
  • Impact World Champion Josh Alexander defends against Jacob Fatu
  • The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. The Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edward)

Mike Tyson off The Roast of Ric Flair due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’

Mike Tyson won’t be participating in “The Roast of Ric Flair” after all.

Just one day after the boxing legend was announced for the event, Tyson’s representatives told TMZ Sports that Tyson won’t be appearing at The Roast of Ric Flair. Tyson is off the event due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“Due to unforeseen circumstances Mike will not be participating in the roast,” their statement said.

TMZ Sports noted that Tyson’s representatives didn’t wish to elaborate further.

In addition to Flair and Tyson being friends, it was announced this March that the two were partnering together for Ric Flair cannabis products to be marketed by Tyson’s “Tyson 2.0” company.

The Roast of Ric Flair is taking place at Starrcast V in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, July 29. The event will air live as a pay-per-view via Fite TV.

Diamond Dallas Page and Eric Bischoff are among those who will be roasting Flair.

Starrcast V will culminate with Flair’s “last match” being held in Nashville on Sunday, July 31.

Mike Tyson announced for Roast of Ric Flair at Starrcast V

Mike Tyson will “roast” Ric Flair later this summer.

As first reported by TMZ, Tyson has been announced for The Roast of Ric Flair on July 29. The event will take place from the Nashville Fairgrounds as part of Starrcast V. Flair’s “last match” is scheduled for two days later on July 31 from the same venue.

Diamond Dallas Page and Eric Bischoff are also confirmed for the roast.

Flair and Tyson announced a business partnership back in March. The legendary boxer’s company, Tyson 2.0, plans to market Flair-themed cannabis products in legal markets across the United States.

ā€œThe last weekend in July is going to be Ric’s swan song in a professional wrestling ring, so what better way to send him off before his final match than giving him a proper roast,ā€ Starrcast promoter Conrad Thompson said. ā€œRic’s career has transcended professional wrestling and made him a pop culture icon. You’ve seen his influence everywhere from sports to hip hop. He’s done it all, except get roasted by some of his dearest friends and the most talented comedians in the world. That all changes on July 29th.ā€

Four Horsemen reunion announced for Starrcast V

The Four Horsemen will reunite at Starrcast V this summer.

A stage show with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, Lex Luger, and JJ Dillon has been announced for Starrcast V. The reunion will take place on Saturday, July 30.

The reunion is being advertised as the first and last time this group of Horsemen will ever be on stage together. They will discuss their faction and the Jim Crockett Promotions era.

Conrad Thompson wrote: “Another stage show was announced for @StarrcastEvents! We will have this group of Horsemen together for the first time and the last time talking about the Jim Crocket Promotions era! Don’t miss the best photo-op EVER for this group on July 30th! Wait until you see the set!”

Flair also tweeted:

Starrcast V is being held at the Nashville Fairgrounds from July 29 through July 31. The first night of the convention will feature “The Roast of Ric Flair.” On July 31, Flair will return to the ring for his “last match.”

‘The Roast of Ric Flair’ announced for Starrcast V

Another event involving Ric Flair has been confirmed for Starrcast V in Nashville.

It was announced today that “The Roast of Ric Flair” will take place at the Nashville Fairgrounds on Friday, July 29. The event will be available to watch live as a pay-per-view via Fite TV.

The Nashville Fairgrounds is also set to host what’s being promoted as Flair’s “last match” on Sunday, July 31. It’s expected that Flair will team with FTR against Ricky Steamboat & The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express in a six-man tag match.

ā€œThe last weekend in July is going to be Ric’s swan song in a professional wrestling ring, so what better way to send him off before his final match than giving him a proper roast,ā€ Conrad Thompson said. ā€œRic’s career has transcended professional wrestling and made him a pop culture icon. You’ve seen his influence everywhere from sports to hip hop. He’s done it all, except get roasted by some of his dearest friends and the most talented comedians in the world. That all changes on July 29th.ā€

Thompson runs Starrcast and is also Flair’s son-in-law.

A roast of Flair was scheduled to take place at Starrcast II in May 2019, but the roast had to be canceled when Flair couldn’t attend the convention due to health issues he was dealing with.

Tickets to the roast and PPV pre-orders will go on sale this Friday at noon Eastern time.

Starrcast V is taking place in Nashville on the same weekend as WWE SummerSlam. The convention runs from July 29 through July 31.

Ric Flair returning to the ring for ‘last match’ this July

Ric Flair’s final match will take place on July 31 from Nashville.

After reports came out recently that Flair was training for an in-ring return, the 73-year-old confirmed to ESPN that his final match will take place on the last night of Starrcast V from the Nashville Fairgrounds. The event will be titled ā€œJim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Matchā€ and will stream on FITE TV.

“I’m going to walk that aisle one last time to prove once and for all that to be the Man, you’ve got to beat the Man,” Flair said in a statement.

His opponents and possible teammates for the match have not been officially confirmed. According to our own Dave Meltzer, however, Flair could potentially team with FTR against the Rock N Roll Express and a partner on the show.

ā€œHe told me it was a secret but the rumor has it, Ric Flair and FTR against The Rock ā€˜n’ Roll Express and somebody,” Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio

“The Rumors Are True! I’m Going To Walk That Aisle, Style And Profile, One Last Time! July 31st! Nashville, Tennessee! Jim Crockett Promotions!” Flair tweeted about his return.

Starrcast V will take place July 29 to 31 from the Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.

Starrcast V announced for WWE SummerSlam weekend in Nashville

Starrcast V has been announced for SummerSlam weekend.

As first reported by Sports Illustrated, Conrad Thompson’s convention returns July 29 to 31 from the Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee. WWE’s SummerSlam will take place July 30 from nearby Nissan Stadium.

ā€œPre-pandemic, we had hoped to do another Starrcast in Chicago in 2020, but the stars just didn’t align,ā€ Thompson said. ā€œSo it makes sense to bring it back, especially with a stadium show nearby—but this time, with a few twists that I think everybody is going to enjoy.ā€

This will be the fifth Starrcast convention dating back to the original held in The Hyatt Regency Chicago over All In weekend in 2018.

Panel discussions have been a highlight of previous events and Thompson says those will return in 2022, with participating names being announced in the near future.

ā€œYou’re going to hear from some names we haven’t heard from in quite a long while,ā€ he continued. ā€œAnd there will be some others who we may be hearing from for the last time. We’ll start all of those announcements next week.ā€

Starrcast will be partnering with Thuzio, the owners of FITE TV, to stream the event.

This will be the first Starrcast since November 2019 and Thompson says they aim to make it a special experience.

ā€œWe’re so excited to see so many familiar faces and get everyone back together, especially after these past few years,ā€ said Thompson. ā€œPeople from all over the world are coming to support wrestling, and we’re going above and beyond to make this special.”

Eric Bischoff to appear at Starrcast IV

On the day after it was confirmed that he’s no longer with WWE, Eric Bischoff was announced for the next Starrcast convention.

Bischoff will be appearing at Starrcast IV, which is being held in Baltimore, Maryland from November 7-10. Bischoff previously appeared at Starrcasts I and II.

Conrad Thompson — the founder of Starrcast — co-hosts the 83 Weeks podcast with Bischoff.

WWE announced yesterday that Bruce Prichard is replacing Bischoff as the executive director of SmackDown. Prichard will report directly to Vince McMahon and will “oversee the creative development of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX and ensure integration across all platforms and lines of business.”

Bischoff tweeted yesterday: “Bruce is a great producer, good friend and I am certain he is going to thrive in his position. He’s going to be working with a great team of the most dedicated and hard working people I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know.”

Starrcast IV is taking place on the weekend of AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view. The convention isn’t an AEW event but has coincided with All In, Double or Nothing, and All Out and features collaboration with the promotion.

Full Gear is taking place at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore on Saturday, November 9.
