Report: Jake Doyle undergoes successful surgery for torn biceps

Jake Doyle is on the mend.

Fightful Select reported on Friday that Jake Doyle, the former Jake Something, is recovering after undergoing surgery for a biceps injury suffered during a match that took place last month.

“Jake Something had successful surgery to repair his injury this week,” they wrote.

On the January 28 edition of Dynamite, Doyle and Mark Davis were wrestling FTR when Doyle took a DDT from Cash Wheeler on the apron. Doyle held onto the top rope while landing on his head, possibly causing the injury. Doyle immediately yelled out loud that he had torn his bicep, with Bryan Alvarez later confirming the injury. Davis and Doyle went on to finish the match, losing to FTR who retained the AEW Tag Team titles.

Doyle joined AEW at the start of the year after his TNA contract expired. He was immediately put in a tag team with Mark Davis as the newest member of the ever-expanding Don Callis Family. They won a number one contender’s match in their debut as a team and defeated Alec Price and Jordan Oliver shortly before their tag team title match.

Former TNA wrestler makes AEW Dynamite debut, gets new name & new contract

Jake Doyle — the former Jake Something — is officially All Elite after making an appearance during a pre-AEW Dynamite angle on social media leading into the show.

In the clip seen below that was also aired on Dynamite, Renee Paquette was backstage and reported that JetSpeed had been taken out ahead of tonight’s trios match, speculating it was due to The Demand’s bounty on them.

Ricochet, the Gates of Agony and Don Callis then appeared with the AEW National Champion saying all he did was say if anyone was to take out JetSpeed, they would get a lump sum of money. Callis said someone or something just got very rich from taking them out.

Callis then brought in Doyle and Mark Davis and said they were going to kill some people, indicating they are a new team in AEW. Later in the show, the two took part in an attack on the Young Bucks and Jack Perry after their match with The Demand.

An hour after Dynamite ended, Tony Khan officially announced Doyle is under contract.

Doyle/Something’s contract with TNA Wrestling expired at year’s end. The 36-year-old has actually wrestled in AEW before, appearing three times on AEW Dark in May/June 2022, losing to Jay Lethal, Danhausen and Matt Sydal.

Report: Another TNA wrestler’s contract expiring at the end of the year

Another TNA contract may be up soon.

Fightful Select reported on Friday that Jake Something’s contract is due to expire at the end of the year. He originally signed in the summer a few years ago, and according to the report, his contract was thought to be expiring in June of 2026. Fightful stated they do not currently know if talks have started between the two sides.

The news comes as a number of contracts are set to expire at the end of the year. Zachary Wentz of the Rascalz, AJ Francis, and Steve Maclin are also among those whose contracts are coming due. Former TNA Champion Joe Hendry has officially left TNA and has since signed with WWE.

Something, 36, started with TNA in 2019 as the cousin of Cody Deaner. When Deaner turned heel and joined the Violent by Design stable, Jake changed his name to Jake Something. He briefly left TNA but returned in 2023 and has been part of the promotion since. After suffering a bicep injury earlier this year, he made his return to TNA in June.

Zilla Fatu to make TNA debut on Slammiversary pre-show

Zilla Fatu — the son of departed wrestling legend Umaga — is officially set to make his TNA debut at Slammiversary.

TNA has confirmed that a six-man tag match with Fatu, Real 1 (Enzo Amore) & Josh Bishop facing Steve Maclin, Jake Something & Mance Warner will take place on the pre-show for Slammiversary this Sunday. The pay-per-view is being held at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.

The trio of Fatu, Real 1 & Bishop are representing Fourth Rope, an indie promotion and wrestling brand that aims to promote the love of wrestling through art, fashion, and music. The brand is curated by rapper and wrestling fan Westside Gunn. Leading into Slammiversary, Fourth Rope videos featuring Real 1 have been airing on Impact.

Fatu started his wrestling career in 2022 training at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling. His first match then happened for Reality of Wrestling in 2023.

Maclin is the TNA International Champion and recently retained the belt against Something and Warner in a triple threat match.

The one-hour Slammiversary pre-show begins at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday and will be hosted by Gia Miller, Tommy Dreamer, and Busted Open Radio’s Dave LaGreca. The pre-show is streaming for free on TNA+ and TNA’s digital platforms.

Wednesday Update

WWE

  • WWE uploaded the full Ricky Starks contract signing from NXT last night, where it was revealed that his new name is Ricky Saints.
  • Michin told The Speakeezy that she thinks her biggest hindrance right now is not connecting with the crowd because she is trying to figure out what her character is. She responded when asked how she crafts her persona:
    • That’s a great question because I don’t even know my character. I’m really bad with – like, I can wrestle my ass off but I know that my biggest hindrance is like I have a problem connecting with the crowd because I’m still trying to figure out what my character is. Because in NXT, I was the gangster, hood rat chick, right? But, in wrestling, you want to have you, just accelerated times 100. So they really wanted that character and I just dove right into it. Whereas now, I’m a gamer. I just want to go home and just hang out with my dogs. Like, I’m very low-key and chill.
  • During his recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Ludwig Kaiser said he made sure to be there in-person when his girlfriend Tiffany Stratton won the WWE Women’s Championship:
    • It was awesome. I actually flew in because it was a huge, huge moment. Obviously, I was there for her NXT Championship win back then, so I really wanted to be there as well. We have such an amazing product, especially now. But the only thing that really doesn’t do justice is the reaction and the way things sound when you’re actually there live. That moment when she actually turned on Nia was crazy. You had to be there in order to understand that that was really a huge moment. Really doesn’t do it justice on TV. But yeah, it was amazing. I’m so happy for her because I’ve been there for the lows, I’ve been there for the highs. I’ve seen it all very up close, and she created something there. She’s doing amazing.
  • In an interview with the Daily Mail, Gunther said he would definitely like to face John Cena at some point during Cena’s retirement tour:
    • It’s the last chance to get in the ring with him, so if that ever becomes a possibility, I would definitely take that. John Cena is obviously one of the wrestlers, you can put him onto Mount Rushmore.
    • If I get the chance I would definitely like to do that. Let’s see how it plays out. Maybe I can end up as his last chance to win a championship at some point in that year, and I can be the one that crushes all those dreams. That would be very enjoyable.
  • Paul Heyman narrated the official trailer for WWE 2K25’s Bloodline Showcase mode.

  • Tony Khan celebrated the ratings for Grand Slam Australia and said Collision is currently on his favorite run of episodes in show history:
    • Our last show, AEW Grand Slam Australia on Saturday, was one of my favorite events ever, + it did one of the biggest #AEWCollision ratings ever on TNT! The past 4 Jacksonville Huntsville Houston Brisbane are my favorite run of Collisions ever! See you for #AEWDynamite TONIGHT!
  • Kyle Fletcher spoke to Undisputed about reuniting with Mark Davis in the Don Callis Family:
    • I haven’t talked about Davis in a long time. It’s nice now that he’s part of the family, I can hype him up again. There is just a grit to Davis, a harshness to him. Every time I see him on the apron and chop the absolute f— out of people, it just grabs me. I love watching him wrestle.
    • I’m glad we’re back together. I can’t wait to watch him again. When he gets his opportunity, he’s going to absolutely smash it.
  • Fletcher also said that, while his girlfriend Skye Blue was initially apprehensive about him shaving his head, she likes it now:
    • My family always hated my dumb hair. That always fueled me to keep it.
    • My girlfriend Skye was a little apprehensive at the time, but she likes it now. There are people who love it and people who hate it, and some people miss the hair, but if they’re talking about it, that’s a good thing.
  • TNA Wrestling announced that tickets for tomorrow’s live Impact episode and Friday’s TV taping have both sold out. The shows are being held at Full Sail University in Florida.

  • After undergoing surgery for a torn biceps, Jake Something has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of his medical expenses:
    • Hello, I’m known professionally as Jake Something. I tore my bicep which required surgery to repair, and being uninsured the bills are crippling. To add to this, one of my dog’s named Leah had to get surgery on the same day as me. Surgery was a success for both of us! We’re on the road to recovery now. As reluctant as I am to even create this, I know it’s the best chance I have at clearing these fees. I also know that times are tough for everyone, so no worries if you’re unable to help. If you are able to help, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

TNA wrestler Jake Something injured, likely needs surgery

TNA wrestler Jake Something will be out of action for a while after suffering an undisclosed injury.

Something posted a message on Tuesday informing fans that he is injured and has to “go away for a while to heal up.” He added that he will probably need to undergo surgery.

Last week, Something competed at both nights of TNA’s television tapings that were held in San Antonio. Before his injury, he was scheduled to wrestle for Deadlock Pro Wrestling on January 26, where he would have defended the DPW World Championship against Calvin Tankman in a Last Man Standing match.

“Thank you for all the love and support, especially to @deadlockpro for all their help,” Something wrote. “Please support that company, truly the best.”

Something was set to defend Wrestling Revolver’s Remix Championship against Crash Jaxon in Indianapolis this Friday night. But Revolver announced that, due to Something’s injury, the Remix title has been vacated and a new champion will be crowned at Friday’s show. The promotion wished Something a speedy recovery.

At TNA’s Genesis pay-per-view earlier this month, Something defeated NXT talent Ashante “Thee” Adonis in a pre-show match. Something previously wrestled under the names Cousin Jake and Jake Deaner in TNA.

El Hijo del Vikingo set for action on TNA Impact

Image: AEW

For the first time since this past January, former AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo will be in action on this Thursday’s edition of TNA Impact.

Vikingo fell in defeat to X-Division Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey at Saturday’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view. This will be his first TNA TV match since a six-way in January, but his opponent has yet to be named.

In what promises to be a hard-hitting tag team match, Hammerstone & Jake Something will battle former TNA World Champion Sami Callihan & PCO. Hammerstone, Something and Callihan were all involved in the Call Your Shot gauntlet match Saturday while PCO defended his Digital Media and International titles against Matt Cardona in a Monster’s Ball match.

In another tag team match, First Class’ AJ Francis & KC Navarro will take on former TNA Tag Team Champions The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz). All four men were part of the gauntlet match as well.

Here’s the current lineup being taped Sunday in Detroit:

  • El Hijo Del Vikingo in action
  • First Class (AJ Francis & KC Navarro) vs. The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz)
  • Hammerstone & Jake Something vs. Sami Callihan & PCO

Mustafa Ali X-Division title defense part of new additions to TNA Rebellion

Two new matches have been added to next month’s TNA Rebellion pay-per-view including an X-Division title defense and a Full Metal Mayhem match.

After winning a six-man scramble match called the Rebellion Referendum on Thursday’s Impact, Jake Something earned the right to challenge current champion Mustafa Ali at the Saturday, April 20th event.

Something outlasted Leon Slater, Chris Bey, Alan Angels, Jason Hotch and Kevin Knight by pinning Hotch following his Into the Void finisher — a victory that Ali didn’t seem thrilled by.

Something will be in search of his first TNA title of any kind while Ali will be looking for the second defense of the title he won at February’s No Surrender. This will be their first-ever time in the ring together.

**********

TNA originals turned rivals Eric Young and Frankie Kazarian will do battle in a Full Metal Mayhem match on the PPV.

The two become at odds after teaming with another, leading to a match at No Surrender for a future title shot. Young picked up the win and went on to challenge TNA World Champion Moose at March’s Sacrifice, only for Kazarian to interfere and help cost him the match.

Young challenged Kazarian to the no DQ, no countout, TLC-esque bout on Thursday.

It will be the second-such match for both men and their second against each other. Kazarian competed alongside Christopher Daniels against Young and Joseph Park in a losing effort as part of the Hardcore Justice III One Night Only PPV special in December 2013.

Here’s the current card that is set for the Palms in Las Vegas:

  • TNA World Champion Moose defends against Nic Nemeth
  • X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali defends against Jake Something
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The System (Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers) defend against Speedball Mountain (Mike Bailey & Trent Seven)
  • Eric Young vs. Frankie Kazarian in a Full Metal Mayhem match

In the main event of Impact this week, Jake Something teamed with SANADA & Frankie Kazarian to defeat Moose, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards. Dango, who has been feuding with Something, was shown watching the match.

SANADA vs. Jake Something, Tag Team title match set for Impact Emergence

For the first time since 2015, SANADA will return to Impact Wrestling at this month’s Emergence and with the IWGP World Championship in tow.

While his presence was announced some time ago, his opponent for the non-title match was confirmed Thursday: Jake Something.

The streaming special is set for Sunday, August 27th in Toronto, Canada.

SANADA is a former X-Division Champion, feuding with Austin Aries and others over the title in 2014 through early-2015. This will be his first meeting with Something who recently returned to Impact at July’s Slammiversary after leaving the company a year ago.

Impact Tag Team Champions Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews) now know who they will be defending the titles against as they will take on The Rascalz.

Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz picked up a victory in the finals of the four-team Tag Team title eliminator tournament Thursday, defeating Sami Callihan & Rich Swann to earn the shot.

The two used spray paint in Callihan’s eyes, leading to them hitting their Hot Fire Flame finisher to get the pin and win. They are in search of their first-ever run with the gold while Subculture is looking for their third title defense.

Here’s the current card:

  • Impact Knockouts Champion Trinity defends against Deonna Purrazzo
  • Impact World Champion Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA, Chris Sabin & Josh Alexander vs. Bully Ray, Moose, Brian Myers & X-Division Champion Lio Rush

Jake Something, Leon Ruff debut at AEW Dark tapings

Jake Something and Leon Ruff made appearances at today’s AEW Dark tapings in Orlando, Florida.

Something, who recently left Impact Wrestling, lost to Jay Lethal. Leon Ruff lost to Tony Nese. Additionally, NJPW LA Dojo talent The DKC, Yuya Uemura, Clark Connors, Karl Fredericks, Alex Coughlin, and Kevin Knight appeared throughout the tapings, feuding with QT Marshall and members of his stable The Factory that eventually led to a ten-man tag team match on the tapings.

It was reported back in March that Something had finished with Impact following the company’s Sacrifice event, where he lost an X-Division title match against then-champion Trey Miguel. Ruff, who was signed with WWE and briefly held the NXT North American Championship in 2020, was released from the company in August of last year.

QT Marshall is scheduled to face Karl Fredericks at NJPW Strong’s tapings in Philadelphia on May 15. Something is also scheduled to appear on that card, facing Brody King.

Jake Something announces departure from Impact Wrestling

Jake Something is now a free agent after the 32-year-old posted to Twitter Monday that he is no longer with Impact Wrestling.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Something’s contract expired at the end of February but he stayed to work Sacrifice this past Saturday. Things are said to have ended amicably between the two sides and he would be welcome to return in the future.

Something first started appearing for Impact in 2017 and became a regular as part of The Deaners beginning in March 2018. He began wrestling as a singles competitor for the promotion in 2020 after his storyline cousin, Cody Deaner, joined Violent By Design.

Something challenged X-Division Champion Trey Miguel for the title Saturday as Miguel picked up the victory with a pair of meteoras after having been dominated for much of the match by his much larger opponent.

Something was trained in the ROH Dojo and made his pro debut in early 2010.
