Impact Wrestling live results: The aftermath of Against All Odds

New World Champion Alex Shelley and new X-Division Champion Chris Sabin will kick off tonight’s Against All Odds fallout edition of Impact Wrestling on AXS.

Shelley defeated Steve Maclin to begin his first World title reign while Sabin defeated Trey Miguel to start his ninth run with the X-Division title at last Friday’s streaming special.

In the follow-up from last Friday’s first-ever 8-4-1 match, Moose will take on Rich Swann in a clash of former Impact World Champions.

After getting thwarted by a steel chair shot from the returning Scott D’Amore in the 8-4-1 match, Bully Ray will address the Impact Zone. Ray put the Impact president through a flaming table at Under Siege to put him out of action.

After defending the titles against The Good Hands, Impact Tag Team Champions Ace Austin & Chris Bey will face Decay’s Crazzy Steve & Black Taurus in non-title action.

Laredo Kid & Jack Price will take on Champagne Singh & Shera on the BTI pre-show.

**********

BTI Preshow

According to George Iceman, Bully Ray has complained to Anthem management about Scott D’Amore hitting him with a chair at Against All Odds.

Champagne Singh & Shera defeated Jack Price & Laredo Kid

Singh got the win in a decent match here, with the champagne pop DDT. Heath ran out after the match and attacked Singh and Shera from behind, hitting a wake up call on Singh.

Main Card

The Motor City Machine Guns made their way out to celebrate their title wins at Against All Odds. Sabin talked about how this was a dream come true for both of them, and Shelley talked about how he was always the guy that helped mentor world champions, like Kazuchika Okada, The Young Bucks, Seth Rollins, and others, but he was never the champ. At Against All Odds he finally became the World champion, and he called this the Machine Gun era of Impact Wrestling.

Nick Aldis came down to the ring to face off against his future opponent at Slammiversary. Aldis noted that all 3 of them called their shots, and did exactly what they said they were going to do, with Aldis becoming #1 contender, and the other two winning their titles. Aldis gave Shelley credit, saying that when he first became a wrestler in Impact, he had no idea what he was doing, and Alex Shelley was one of the guys that taught him how to wrestle. Aldis then said, as Shelley’s friend, he was going to do everything he could to win the title at Slammiversary.

Trey Miguel came out onto the ramp, saying they forgot to show him respect. Kenny King came out with Sheldon Jean. I sense a 6-man tag in the near future. Gisele Shaw, Savanah Evans, and Jai Vidal made their way out. Shaw said the red carpet was rolled out for Trinity and Alids, and that the Machine Guns didn’t deserve the titles. Trinity came out and now I sense an 8-person tag match. Trinity confronted Shaw, but Deonna Purrazzo came out and now I have no idea what I am sensing.

Santino came out, I assume to make a match. This segment has gone on way too long and added way too many people to it. Simple is better. Santino announced a 10-person tag main event with Aldis, MCMG, Trinity, and Purrazzo against King, Miguel, Jean, Evans, and Shaw.

–Steve Maclin was backstage and cut a great promo about how the two years it took him to become champion, and now he wasn’t, and he should still be champ. The intensity here was great.

–A recap of OVE defeating The Design. Deaner looked to blame Angels for the job not getting done. Angels blamed Deaner for the loss, and Kon screamed “Stop!” saying this is what Callihan wanted them to be doing. Kon said they needed to claim what was theirs.

We are well over 30 minutes into the show before the first match started, which I am not a fan of, as a lot of the promos could have been cut down or placed differently. Regardless, we got Rich Swann and Moose to open the wrestling portion of the show.

Rich Swann defeated Moose

If you are going to make us wait 30 minutes for the first match, you need to make sure the first match is a good one. This was a good one. Not even close to the best match I’ve seen this week, but it was a very good opening match.

Swann was a fair bit faster than Moose in the first part of the match, but eventually got powerbombed onto the apron before they went to an ad break. Moose hit a giant uranage on Swann for a 2-count when they came back from break. Moose chopped Swann against the posts on the floor twice, but Swann ducked the third Moose chopped the post. Swann ended up on the top rope after another ad break and Moose ran up the ropes and hit a superplex.

Moose then tried the same run and went for a crossbody, but Swann countered with a cutter and got a 2-count. This match has been quite good. Swann missed a middle rope 450 and ate a discus clothesline and a powerbomb for a 2-count from Moose. Moose went for the spear, but Swann rolled him up and floated over into a jackknife pin for the 3-count.

–Heath was backstage and talked about his history in Impact, talking about what is next for him. He said he was about to let everyone in Impact know who he is. This was a good promo.

–Moose was walking backstage and almost got hit by a door that Brian Myers kicked open. Myers talked about how Moose had a rough night at Against All Odds and another one tonight, and Moose did not take kindly to the lecture. Myers assured him that he made a mistake too, as he failed to lead the Good Hands to the tag championship, but Moose & Myers would be able to beat them.

–Bully Ray came out with an official complaint to the Anthem management about Scott D’Amore. Scott D’Amore came out and said that he did go before the Anthem board, and they did decide it was behaviour unbecoming of a company president. D’Amore also said the board recommended he take a leave of absence.

Ray insisted that he leave the ring and admit that he was wrong. D’Amore said that he wouldn’t be able to “Do this” if he was still president, and he tackled Ray and started punching him. Steve Maclin came out and attacked D’Amore from behind. Maclin and Ray grabbed chairs and Ray put a chair across the throat of D’Amore and invited Maclin to hit the legs of the chair with his own chair to drive it into D’Amore’s throat. As he was about to do it, the lights went out, and PCO made the save.

D’Amore then announced that he was coming out of retirement to wrestle Bully Ray & Steve Maclin at Slammiversary with PCO as his tag team partner.

–Maclin and Ray were backstage and Maclin was telling Ray that he was worried about PCO because there is nothing that can ever keep him down. Ray told Maclin to act like a Marine, and that he was just a man. Kazarian said, “He was just a man who took you both out.” Maclin and Ray went to get in the face of Kazarian, but Eddie Edwards walked up to even the odds, saying that since they shared the same trainer in Killer Kowalski, he would have Kazarian’s back, even though they don’t see eye-to-eye. Alisha Edwards was surprised that they were suddenly making peace, but it seems like Kazarian and Edwards might be on the same side for now.

ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) defeated The Decay in a non-title match

Crazzy Steve yelled, “Do you want me to bite his fingers?!” to the fans as he pointed at Chris Bey. Chris Bey did not like this prospect and attacked, soon tagging out to Austin, but Black Taurus came in and the Decay soon had control. Bey and Austin picked up Steve, but he bit them both. He ate a double sole butt from ABC and then a 1-2-sweet for the win.

–The Motor City Machine Guns were backstage to greet Austin & Bey, and they said they were glad those two were the Impact World Tag Team Champions, as the division was in good hands. Bey & Austin said they were happy that MCMG were the X-Division and World champions.

–Bhupinder Gujjar was backstage with Gia Miller, and they talked about his upcoming episode of Diary where they highlight his journey in wrestling. Dirty Dango walked up and said, “Who would want to watch that?” insisting that, insisting that Gujjar was like everyone else in the locker room, simply being passive and not becoming a star, “Except for that bull head guy, because he gets it.” I laughed at him putting over Black Taurus. Looks like we’ll see Gujjar beating Dango sometime in the near future. Gujjar’s story is a good one, and they could use it well to promote him.

–NJPW on AXS this week featured The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli) & Shota Umino vs. CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada & Tomohiro Ishii) & Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship and Will Ospreay vs. Lance Archer, both excellent matches.

The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley), Nick Aldis, Deonna Purrazzo, & Trinity defeated Kenny King, Sheldon Jean, Trey Miguel, Gisele Shaw, & Savannah Evans

Good multi-person tag match, with Shelley getting the win at the end to highlight his new title reign.

Purrazzo and Shaw started the match, but as soon as Shaw seemed to have an advantage, Trinity tagged in and attacked. Shaw was able to block a bulldog attempt and send Trinity crashing intho the turnbuckle before tagging out to Evans. When the came back from the break, Kenny King was getting the heat on Nick Aldis.

This continued with the team getting heat on Chris Sabin after Aldis tagged out. Jean hit several 12 to 6 elbows on Sabin before tagging back out to King. This continued for several minutes until Sabin got a got up in a corner charge and hit a tornado DDT before tagging out to Alex Shelley. Miguel tagged in and Shelly ran wild on him, King, Sheldon Jean, and even Jai Vidal on the floor.

Miguel cut Shelley off on the top rope, so Shelley hit a top rope Manhattan Drop on Miguel, which looked unpleasant. Shelley locked on the Border City Stretch, but everyone crashed the ring and a brawl ensued. Sheldon Jean hit a flying leg lariat on Sabin, and King accidentally hit an enziguri on Jean, leading to Aldis taking out King and Shelley hitting Shell Shock on Jean for the pin.

–Nick Aldis grabbed the world title and went to hand it to Alex Shelley. Aldis then turned heel, nailing Shelley with the title. This is a much better fit for Aldis, and he will make a strong heel contender to Alex Shelley as the babyface champion going into Impact Slammiversary.

Final Thoughts

This was a decent episode of Impact, with a ton of angles, and not much wrestling. I would have preferred to cut down on the opening segment by 5-10 minutes and add another match in the middle, but with that said, the wrestling we did get was mostly good. Moose and Swann was good, and the main event was very good. The ABC squash of the Decay was fine. The real story of the show will be the closing angle with Aldis turning heel, a role he is much stronger in than being a babyface.

Rich Swann vs. Moose has also been announced for the show. Along with Mike Bailey and PCO, the two were teammates in the opening round of the 8-4-1 match on Friday. Their team was eliminated when Moose accidentally hit Swann with a spear, allowing Jonathan Gresham to pick up the pin for his team.

Champagne Singh & Shera vs. Laredo Kid & Jack Price was announced as this week’s Before the Impact match as well.

Joe Hendry vs. Yuya Uemura

Hendry will defend his Digital Media title Friday against Dirty Dango while Uemura is part of the 8-4-1 match. At this point, it’s unknown if this will be a title match.

Impact Wrestling live results: The fallout from Under Siege

Thursday’s Impact Wrestling on AXS TV will feature the fallout from last Friday’s Under Siege.

Bully Ray will make his return to Thursday nights for the first time since losing to Tommy Dreamer in a Hardcore War match. He made his promotional return at Under Siege, joining Impact World Champion Steve Maclin in putting company president Scott D’Amore through a flaming table.

Trinity (the former Naomi in WWE) will look to remain undefeated in Impact as she takes on Savannah Evans.

Dani Luna of Subculture and formerly WWE NXT UK will make her Impact in-ring debut as she battles the undefeated Jody Threat.

After making his return last Friday, Jake Crist will team with Sami Callihan to battle Decay’s Black Taurus & Crazzy Steve.

In the follow-up from Friday’s six-way no. 1 contender’s match, Eddie Edwards goes one-on-one with Yuya Uemura.

The BTI pre-show will feature Brian Myers vs. Tyler Tirva.

*********

Brian Myers defeated Tyler Tirva

Myers gave Tirva a lot in this match, and he might be a guy looking at bringing in at some point given his quality performance in this match.

Impact Wrestling

The show opened with a video recap of Deonna Purrazzo defeating Jordynne Grace, and Maclin defeating PCO before attacking Scott D’Amore.

–Bully Ray came down to the ring to open the show. Ray claimed to be the most hated man in the business, but given the heat Don Callis got on Dynamite last night, I think he would be at the top of that list. Ray talked about how he has pout people through tables his whole career, but when he is really upset, he lights the table on fire.

Ray claimed that putting D’Amore through the flaming table brought him great pleasure, and it was one of the best nights of his life. Ray said that he was going nowhere, and he was going to win the 8-4-1 match at Against All Odds and become the #1 Contender before going on to Slammiversary to win the Impact World Championship.

Steve Maclin came out and insisted that Bully Ray only took out Scott D’Amore because Maclin allowed him to do it. Ray admitted that Maclin was the world champ, and acknowledged that Maclin did. Maclin pointed out that there was something everyone was wondering – would Ray and Maclin team up and continue doing whatever they wanted? Either way, Maclin said that if Ray won the match at Against All Odds, he would be happy to defend the title against him.

The Motor City Machine Guns came out, and Alex Shelley reminded Ray that he was the #1 contender to the world championship, and he was going to win the title at Against All Odds. Ray admitted that Shelley was a great pro wrestler, saying that he should be mentioned in the same breath as the best wrestlers in the world, but that he could never win the big one.

Chris Sabin reminded Bully Ray that he said all that stuff to him 10 years ago, and Sabin beat him for the world title. Maclin accused Shelley of overlooking him, and Shelley said he was sure he could beat Maclin. Maclin asked him what made him so sure, and Shelley said that Maclin wasn’t Josh Alexander, and that if he didn’t get injured, Alexander would still be champion.

As Sabin and Shelley challenged Bully Ray and Maclin to a match, Ray denied them the fight tonight. Subculture came out. Mark Andrews took the mic and said that they wanted a match against the Motor City Machine Guns since Ray and Maclin didn’t want to fight, so MCMG accepted. This was a long 20 minute promo segment that probably could have been compressed into 6 or 7 minutes, but it was good.

Eddie Edwards (w/ Alisha Edwards) defeated Yuya Uemura

Uemura had the advantage in the early portion of the match when they went to a break, and when they came back Edwards was in control. I hate how they get the heat during the ad breaks sometimes, as it was something WWE did all the time. That said, they at least showed a replay with Alisha Edwards tripping Uemura.

Edwards continued trying to wear Uemura down with hard strikes, but Uemura picked up the pace and hit the ropes hard several times before hitting a flying forearm that left Edwards reeling. Uemura hit a Saito suplex for a 2-count. Uemura went for a flying crossbody, but Edwards got a knee up and hit a tiger driver for a 2-count. Edwards got up and hit the Boston knee party for the win right after.

–Eddie Edwards refused to shake Uemura’s hand, so Frankie Kazarian came out and said that it was disrespectful to not shake Uemura’s hand. Edwards grabbed Kazarian, so Kazarian dropped him, and Alisha Edwards jumped on his back. Kazarian shook her off and left the Edwards family laying the mat. Weird way to end that angle. I would have had Edwards beat Kazarian down for some heat to build to a match.

Sami Callihan & Jake Crist defeated Decay (Crazzy Steve & Black Taurus)

This was a nothing match, over in less than 2 minutes, with Crist hitting a Crist Cutter on Steve for the win.

–After the match, The Design came to ringside and Kon chokeslammed both Crist and Callihan, and the never ending feud of doom continued, with Deaner hitting the antidote, a DDT, on Crist. Rich Swann ran down to make the save, holding a chair, and The Design left the ring.

–Rich Swann, Crist, and Callihan were backstage, and Swann said he was not available for the match against The Design at Against All Odds because he was in the 8-4-1 match. Callihan said something about a doctor calling a monster, so it seems to me that it’ll likely be PCO as Callihan and Crist’s tag partner, though PCO is also in the 8-4-1 match, so it must be someone else.

Trinity defeated Savannah Evans (w/ Gisele Shaw & Jai Vidal)

This was quite short, and basically both of them just doing moves with little story. Evans did a few, Trinity would do one or two, then Evans would take a turn. Not a lot of psychology, but given it was a short match it didn’t really matter. A simple match to showcase what Trinity can do, as she got to hit all her high spots.

Evans used power moves to control Trinity in the early part of the match, including hitting a pop up power bomb for a 2-count. Trinity managed to turn it around, hitting a heat seeker on Evans who was draped across the middle ropes. Trinity hit a springboard into a kick and a bulldog into the middle turnbuckle before hitting a flying crossbody off the top rope. Evans hit a sidewalk slam. Trinity from the corner hit a sunset flip into Star Struck for the submission win.

–Trinity grabbed a mic and said that she promised to wait until Under Siege, but she wanted her shot at the Knockouts Championship. Deonna Purrazzo came out, said that she was the one Trinity was looking for. Trinity made a challenge for the title at Slammiversary, and Purrazzo accepted.

Gisele Shaw and Evans attacked Purrazzo and Trinity from behind. Jai Vidal knocked Purrazzo out with a purse, and Shaw took the purse and knocked out Trinity. Jordynne Grace ran down to make the save, and Shaw nailed Grace with the purse before hitting two running knees to the face. Shaw commanded Evans and Vidal to pick Grace up, and Shaw hit a 3rd knee, seemingly writing Grace off the show.

Jody Threat defeated Dani Luna

Very hard hitting match here. Luna looked very good, and Jody Threat seems to be settling into being on TV well.

Jody Threat took a lot of this match, hitting hard strikes, a clothesline in the corner, and a suplex that dropped Luna for a 2-count. Luna dodged a baseball slide and hit a knee to the face of Threat. Luna hit an impressive dead lift suplex on Threat. Threat hit a Cactus style clothesline to the floor on Luna, before hitting a flipping senton off the apron to the floor.

Threat hit a big Michinoku driver on Luna for a 2-count. Threat ate a lariat and power bomb from Luna, which got a reaction from the crowd. Threat kicked out, and soon hit a German suplex before hitting a torture rack bomb for the pinfall.

–Joe Hendry was backstage with Santino and Hendry talked about getting revenge on Dango. Kenny King and Sheldon Jean walked up and reminded everyone that Jean broke Hendry’s nose, and Santino made the match for next week on Impact, while booking Dango against Joe Hendry at Against All Odds as well.

–Killer Kelly cut a promo, talking about how if you put two animals in a cage that they instinctively fight, but if you put a chain around the neck of two humans, they fight like dogs. She invited Masha Slamovich to give into their violent impulses at Against All Odds.

Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) defeated Subculture (Mark Andrews & Flash Webster Morgan)

It really isn’t a shock saying this again, but the Motor City Machine Guns are just so good. I wish we could see them in the main event mix with guys like FTR and the Young Bucks in AEW. Their matches with the Bucks and the Briscoes in ROH were always fantastic. They make every show they are on better. Subculture looked fantastic in this one too, and I hope they really do get a deal somewhere soon.

This, of course, was a slow and plodding match. I am kidding, of course, as all 4 wrestlers moved so fast it was hard to keep track of. Sabin and Shelley being able to keep this level of work up for so long is really quite incredible, and Webster and Andrews were keen to show they belonged there as well with two of the greats of the last 20 years.

Andrews is familiar with Impact audiences, due to his time there year ago, but this seems like a new version of him with Webster. Subculture hit stereo tope suicidas to the floor to the delight of the crowd, but MCMG hit a series of quick double team offence once they got back in the ring, ending with Shelley hitting a bulldog and clothesline at the same time.

Shelley pulled Andrews into a surfboard stretch and Sabin hit the ropes and hit a bulldog on the prone Andrews. Sabin and Shelley hit a magic killer on Andrews a few minutes later for a 2-count. Shelley nailed Andrews with a clothesline and then he and Sabin hit a doomsday dropkick, but Andrews popped back up after eating it and hit a headbutt on Sabin. MCMG hit a double big boot in the corner on Andrews, but Andrews blocked the cradle shock and hit the Stundog Millionaire. MCMG hit a cutter on Andrews, and then soon thereafter hit a dirt bomb on Webster. What a match.

Final Thoughts

This was an angle heavy show, but given that there are only 2 weeks between two major live events, I understand why. That said, I wouldn’t book two live events that far apart. Hopefully they do not do that next year. This show was not much about the wrestling, and a lot more about setting up Against All Odds, which is fine. The main event more than made up for that with a fantastic tag match.

Next week’s Impact Wrestling:

  • Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Coven defend against The Death Dollz
  • Moose & Rich Swann vs. Nick Aldis & Jonathan Gresham

New Impact Against All Odds matches:

  • Impact Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry defends against Dirty Dango
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian
  • Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans vs. Deonna Purrazzo & Trinity

New Slammiversary match:

  • Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo defends against Trinity

Impact Wrestling to debut 8-4-1 match at Against All Odds

The card for next month’s Against All Odds streaming special continues to take shape as Impact Wrestling announced both a new match and match type Tuesday.

Called the 8-4-1, the winner will earn an Impact World title shot at July’s Slammiversary.

Featuring eight wrestlers, the match will begin as an eight-man tag team bout. The winners will then compete in a fatal four-way where the victor will earn the title shot.

The teams are Bully Ray, Jonathan Gresham, Heath & Nick Aldis vs. Moose, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Rich Swann & PCO. Four of the men have held the Impact/TNA World title before.

It joins the previously announced Steve Maclin vs. Alex Shelley match for Maclin’s World title.

Against All Odds takes place on Friday, June 9th from Columbus, Ohio, and will stream on Impact’s Ultimate Insider and Impact Plus.

Here’s the current card:

  • Impact World Champion Steve Maclin defends against Alex Shelley
  • 8-4-1 match for Impact World title shot: Nick Aldis, Bully Ray, Jonathan Gresham, Heath, Moose, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Rich Swann and PCO

Impact Under Siege notes: Against All Odds main event, notable returns, Victory Road

On a night where all the champions retained their titles, a new number one contender for the World title was made during Friday’s Impact Under Siege and thus, a main event was confirmed for next month’s Against All Odds.

In a six-way match, Alex Shelley picked up the win over Moose, Eddie Edwards, Jonathan Gresham, Yuya Uemura and Frankie Kazarian. The Motor City Machine Guns member got the pin after hitting Shellshock on Uemura.

It was announced shortly after Under Siege that Shelley will face reigning champion Steve Maclin at the Against All Odds streaming special on Friday, June 9th in Columbus, Ohio. Shelley has held the X-Division and Tag Team titles, but never the big prize. He unsuccessfully challenged then-champion Josh Alexander at last August’s Emergence.

Maclin successfully defended the World title against PCO in a no DQ match Friday — one of five champions that left London, Ontario, Canada, with their title reigns intact.

**********

Bully Ray has returned to Impact.

The former title challenger made a surprise return after Maclin’s victory, attacking Impact president Scott D’Amore. He and Maclin put D’Amore through a flaming table despite the best efforts of the Motor City Machine Guns, PCO and Matthew Rehwoldt. He told D’Amore he would take down the whole company around him.

Ray feuded with then-champion Josh Alexander earlier this year with Alexander successfully defending the title against Ray in a Full Metal Mayhem match. After losing in a Hardcore War match with Tommy Dreamer earlier this year, Ray disappeared for some time only to return tonight.

**********

It was announced that Impact’s Victory Road event streaming special will take place on Friday, September 8th in White Plains, New York. The 1000th episode of Impact will taped the following night in the same venue. Tickets go on sale for both shows on June 2nd.

**********

Jake Crist made his return to Impact as the mystery man to team with Sami Callihan and Rich Swann in a win over The Design’s Deaner, Kon and Angels. Callihan’s oVe teammate was last seen in the promotion in August 2021 after spending the better part of five years there. He is a former X-Division and Tag Team Champion.

Hardcore War announced for Impact Rebellion

The recent feud between Tommy Dreamer and Bully Ray will continue at next month’s Impact Rebellion as both men will meet in a no rules Hardcore War match.

The pay-per-view is set for Sunday, April 16th in Toronto, Canada.

Dreamer and Ray squared off in a Busted Open match (first blood) at last Friday’s Sacrifice with Ray picking up the win in an interference-laden bout that included former NHL player Darren McCarty getting involved in addition to the return of Impact president Scott D’Amore who delivered a Canadian destroyer on Jason Hotch.

Dreamer, Yuya Uemura and McCarty will take on Ray, Hotch and John Skyler next Thursday on Impact on AXS in a preview as both Dreamer and Ray must put together teams for the anything goes match at the PPV.

The match joins the previously announced Steve Maclin vs. KUSHIDA bout that will crown a new Impact World Champion.

Here’s the current lineup:

  • Steve Maclin vs. KUSHIDA for the vacant Impact World title
  • Team Bully Ray vs. Team Dreamer in a Hardcore War match

Bully Ray to guest commentate NWA title match at Nuff Said

The NWA is bringing in a guest commentator for the main event of this weekend’s Nuff Said pay-per-view.

In the main event of Nuff Said this Saturday, Tyrus will put his NWA World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Matt Cardona. It was announced last night that Bully Ray will serve as a guest commentator for the match.

“As announced on tonight’s NWA Livestream, @bullyray5150 will be ringside on commentary for the #NuffSaid main event between @PlanetTyrus & @TheMattCardona,” the NWA tweeted on Monday. “NUFF SAID is sold out, but you can still catch it live on @FiteTV!”

Cardona responded to the announcement: “@bullyray5150 sliced a layer of skin off my forehead with a cheese grater a few months ago and now he’s the ‘guest commentator’ in my @nwa Worlds Heavyweight Championship match against  @PlanetTyrus? HOW IS THAT FAIR?! #NuffSaid”

Bully Ray also appeared as a guest commentator at the NWA’s Alwayz Ready PPV in June 2022.

Bully Ray was in action on the live episode of NWA Power last week, losing to Odinson by disqualification in a “no tables” match.

At NWA Hard Times 3 last November, Tyrus defeated Trevor Murdoch and Cardona in a triple threat match to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

Nuff Said is being held at the Egypt Shrine Center in Tampa, Florida on Saturday night. The updated card for the PPV is listed below:

  • NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tyrus defends against Matt Cardona
  • NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille defends against Angelina Love
  • NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Kerry Morton defends against Alex Taylor
  • NWA National Champion Cyon defends against Homicide

Bully Ray to challenge for Impact World title at Hard to Kill

The World Championship match is official for Impact Wrestling’s next pay-per-view.

Impact Wrestling has announced that Josh Alexander will defend his Impact World Championship against Bully Ray at Hard to Kill on Friday, January 13, 2023. The match was set up when Bully Ray attacked Alexander at Friday night’s Over Drive special.

The main event of Over Drive saw Alexander successfully defend his title against Frankie Kazarian. Following the match, Bully Ray blindsided Alexander, beat him down with a steel chair, and zip tied his arm to the bottom rope.

Alexander’s wife Jade Chung was in the front row and screamed for Bully Ray to stop the attack. Bully Ray pulled her over the barricade, threatening to piledrive her onto the concrete. Alexander managed to break free, but Bully Ray told him not to move. Bully Ray forced Alexander to give him possession of the Impact World title belt in exchange for not piledriving Chung.

Bully Ray defeated Moose in a tables match earlier in the night at Over Drive.

At October’s Bound for Glory PPV, Bully Ray returned to Impact Wrestling by winning the Call Your Shot gauntlet match. That’s how Bully Ray earned the right to face Alexander at Hard to Kill. During his attack at Over Drive, Bully Ray mocked Alexander for believing that he would keep his word and cash in the title shot honorably.

Renee Paquette addresses Jon Moxley’s AEW promo, Bully Ray comments

During her SiriusXM “Throwing Down” show with Miesha Tate, Renee Paquette discussed her thoughts on husband Jon Moxley’s return to AEW last Wednesday and expounded on her thoughts regarding Bully Ray’s recent suggestion that Moxley apologize to fans.

She said to see Moxley out there and to get the feedback of how much his promo touched people was “really, really cool” and that to “have that vulnerability, he’s a special guy.”

“He’s got such a way with words. He’s obviously an incredible wrestler, an incredible person, an incredible man. I could not be more proud of him. I could not love this guy anymore so to see him out there doing that was so great,” she said.

Following the promo, Bully Ray suggested on Busted Open Radio that Moxley should have apologized to fans during his promo for taking time off to enter rehab for alcohol addiction.

Paquette said that she was annoyed that she even had to address his comments because it would give them more attention, but that when it comes talking about her family, it becomes personal.

These were Paquette’s first full comments since her initial tweet that it was a bad take.

“You talk sh*t about my husband? You talk sh*t about my family? That becomes personal to me and that bothers me more. It also bothers me because Bully is somebody who I’ve always really enjoyed, I have always really liked Bully. I have said I have had a good relationship with him despite other people not having a good relationship with him or him having burned bridges other places and leaving a bad taste in other people’s mouths,” she said.

Paquette said the former WWE and ECW star has both her and Moxley’s number, but hasn’t called to apologize for his “sh*t take” or discuss it further. She pointed out that both men were at the same Northeast Wrestling event Saturday and that Bully Ray never talked to him.

Tate asked if this was some sort of angle leading to a match. Paquette said it wasn’t and that Moxley didn’t have any idea what Bully Ray said until 10 PM that day.

She is proud of what Moxley did, given the past stigmas about taking time off for addiction issues and mental health.

“It has been a thing that has affected the business for such a long time. It’s a stigma that comes with the business so the fact that Jon is one of those guys in the spot that he’s in and he’s going against the grain and doing the things that he needs to do, I think speaks volumes to not just the fans, but the people inside the business, to the other boys and girls in the back that might be going through a similar thing. This happens to so many people and it’s unfortunately so common, so he went and did what he had to do and no apologies necessary,” she said.

At Gateway to Honor the next night, Isom made a save for Coleman and Cheeseburger after Bully Ray defeated Coleman. Isom went to put Bully Ray through a table, but Bully Ray low blowed him and powerbombed him through it.

ROH hyped that Bully Ray “has said that he’ll leave ROH for good if anyone can defeat him” and Isom is determined to rid the company of him.

Zayne made his ROH debut by defeating Bandido at Honor Reigns Supreme in January. The night before that, Bandido, Flamita & Horus won the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles from Villain Enterprises.
