Jeff Cobb replacing Adam Brooks at ROH 18th Anniversary PPV

Adam Brooks won’t be making his ROH debut at Friday’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view after all.

ROH has announced that — due to travel issues — Brooks will no longer be appearing at their 18th Anniversary PPV. Jeff Cobb is replacing Brooks and will face Slex at the show.

It was confirmed last month that Brooks has signed with ROH. Him facing Slex at the Anniversary PPV was going to be a matchup between Australian wrestling standouts.

Slex also recently signed with ROH. He debuted at Free Enterprise last month and has had three matches for the promotion.

ROH wrote that “Cobb, who is willing to take on anyone in any promotion, wants to wear ROH gold around his waist again, and he knows a victory over Slex would strengthen his case for a title shot.”

ROH’s 18th Anniversary PPV is taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada this Friday. The venue will also host ROH Past vs. Present the next night.

Here’s the updated card for the Anniversary PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Rush defending against Mark Haskins
  • ROH Television Champion Dragon Lee defending against Bandido
  • ROH Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham defending against Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon)
  • The Briscoes vs. Dalton Castle & Joe Hendry
  • Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) vs. Rey Horus & Alex Zayne
  • Dealer’s Choice match: Dan Maff vs. Kenny King vs. Shane Taylor vs. Bateman (winner gets a future title shot of his choosing)
  • Jeff Cobb vs. Slex
  • Eli Isom vs. Bully Ray
  • Nicole Savoy vs. Session Moth Martina

Two matches added to ROH 18th Anniversary PPV

ROH has confirmed two more matches for this Friday’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view.

Villain Enterprises stablemates PCO & Brody King will team against Rey Horus & Alex Zayne at the PPV. Eli Isom is also set to face Bully Ray in a singles match.

Bully Ray interrupted Isom vs. LSG at Bound By Honor on February 28. Isom then challenged Bully Ray to a match. Bully Ray won and went to attack Isom with a steel chair after, but Cheeseburger and Caprice Coleman came out to make the save.

At Gateway to Honor the next night, Isom made a save for Coleman and Cheeseburger after Bully Ray defeated Coleman. Isom went to put Bully Ray through a table, but Bully Ray low blowed him and powerbombed him through it.

ROH hyped that Bully Ray “has said that he’ll leave ROH for good if anyone can defeat him” and Isom is determined to rid the company of him.

Zayne made his ROH debut by defeating Bandido at Honor Reigns Supreme in January. The night before that, Bandido, Flamita & Horus won the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles from Villain Enterprises.

Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas,  Nevada will host ROH’s 18th Anniversary PPV this Friday and ROH Past vs. Present on Saturday.

Here’s the updated card for the Anniversary PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Rush defending against Mark Haskins
  • ROH Television Champion Dragon Lee defending against Bandido
  • ROH Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham defending against Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon)

ROH World title changes hands, 18th Anniversary PPV main event set

Rush is once again the ROH World Champion.

In the main event of Gateway to Honor on Saturday night, Rush regained the ROH World title by defeating PCO and Mark Haskins in a triple threat match. Nick Aldis, who is facing PCO at Supercard of Honor XIV in April, came out towards the end of the match and hit PCO with the NWA World title belt.

That would eventually lead to the finish, where Rush hit PCO with the dropkick to the corner, pinning him to win the championship. PCO held the title for 78 days, defeating Rush back at Final Battle on December 13.

Rush will now defend his title against Haskins at ROH’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, March 13. ROH announced leading up to Gateway to Honor that whoever wasn’t involved in the finish would challenge for the World title at the Anniversary PPV.

Haskins confronted Rush at the end of Gateway to Honor and was attacked by La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush, ROH Television Champion Dragon Lee, and Kenny King).

Here’s the updated card for the Anniversary PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Rush defending against Mark Haskins
  • ROH Television Champion Dragon Lee defending against Bandido
  • ROH Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham defending against Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon)
  • The Briscoes vs. Dalton Castle & Joe Hendry

Two more matches set for ROH 17th Anniversary PPV

Two more matches have been made official for Ring of Honor’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

ROH announced today that Jeff Cobb will defend his Television title against Shane Taylor at the Anniversary event. The show is taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, March 15.

Taylor laid out Cobb with his Greetings From 216 finisher at January’s television tapings. There was also an angle at Honor Reigns Supreme that month where Taylor refused to wrestle in a match against Cobb, Jonathan Gresham, and Rhett Titus. The stipulation was that Taylor, Gresham, or Titus would have gotten an instant TV title shot if they won. Taylor attacked Cobb after the match and held up the TV title belt.

LifeBlood’s Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams vs. The Kingdom’s Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan has also been announced for the Anniversary PPV. LifeBlood saved ROH World Champion Jay Lethal from The Kingdom on this week’s episode of ROH TV.

Lethal will defend his title against The Kingdom’s Matt Taven at the Anniversary PPV. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Matt Taven
  • ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against PCO & Brody King
  • Women of Honor World Champion Mayu Iwatani defending against Kelly Klein
  • ROH TV Champion Jeff Cobb defending against Shane Taylor
  • Rush vs. Bandido
  • Marty Scurll vs. Kenny King
  • Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams vs. Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan
