Two title defenses, tournament reveal set for AEW Dynamite

The WrestleDream fallout episode of AEW Dynamite has its first two matches announced in addition to a reveal for the impending inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament.

The bracket for the aforementioned tag title tournament will be revealed. No other details were given as to how many teams will be involved or when it will start.

By virtue of their victory in a tornado trios bout at WrestleDream, The Hurt Syndicate will get their earned title shot against reigning champions The Opps — days after Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs turned against Hangman Page at the PPV.

While Kazuchika Okada and Katsuyori Shibata were unsuccessful at defeating Brodido for the AEW World Tag Team titles at WrestleDream, Okada will attempt to get a measure of revenge when he defends the Unified title against Bandido. Bandido pinned Okada with the 21 Plex Saturday.

Current AEW Dynamite lineup | Wednesday, October 22 | San Antonio, Texas

  • AEW World Trios Champions The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs) defend against The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley & MVP)
  • AEW Women’s Tag Team title championship tournament reveal
  • AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada defends against Bandido

I say RING, you say HONOR! RING – HONOR! RING – HONOR! RING – ah crap, I forgot to get someone to say the “of.” Ah well, here we are for another great episode of Ring of Honor on HonorClub, this week featuring Bandido vs Hechicero II: The Hechening!

ROH World Title Match: Bandido (c) vs Hechicero

(I also toyed with “Hech-lectric Booglaloo” and “Hech Harder”)

This match was from Arena Mexico, where Hechicero had cheerleaders. Lethargic cheerleaders, but cheerleaders none the less. Bandido arrived in, I kid you not, a full golden suit of armor. I don’t know if it’s a tariffA thing or what, but he should really bring that back to the US with him. It looked AMAZING.

After a quick Código de honor, the bell, or whistle as it turned out, rang and the two locked up. Hechicero got a headlock on Bandido and took him down to the mat. He went right for a bent leg hold and transitioned into and abdominal stretch.

Bandido reversed the hold into a modified surfboard, but Hechicero moved quickly into his own surfboard, getting Bandido up and working the shoulder and knee of Bandido. Giving as good as hie got, Bandido reversed it and put Hechicero up in a surfboard of his own. It didn’t last long as Hechicero transitioned into another leg lock.

Bandido twisted out with a headscissor though and the two rolled around trying to catch various holds and pinning combinations. Hechicero baounced off the ropes, but Bandido was waiting and locked in a headlock over the top rope (that was pink. It didn’t matter, but I thought it was neat).

Bandido climbed up Hechicero and planted him with a hurricanrana followed by a pump kick. Bandido charged, but Hechicero pulled down the top rope and he flew to the outside. Then Hechicero dove over the top rope, crushing Bandido into the barricade.

Hechicero hoisted Bandido onto his shoulders and then dropped him ribs-first onto the barricade. As he was hanging there, Hechicero stomped Bandido’s head, then exposed a gate. He slammed the gate on Bandido’s shoulder, then tossed him back into the ring to break the count.

Bandido writhed in the ring, while Hechicero put on a hammerlock and twisted his arm around the bottom rope, further damaging the shoulder. Bandido sent Hechicero to the ropes and tried to pick him up off the riccochet, but his arm gave out and Hechicero went out of the ring.

Bandido followed, but Hechicero was waiting and put him on the barricade. Hechicero went to drop kick Bandido on the barricade, but Bandido moved and Hechicero took the brunt of the impact. Bandido scrambled up and hit a twisting moonsault from the ring apron onto Hechicero’s ankle.

Both men headed back into the ring, with Bandido going up top and landing a frog splash, but Hecicero kicked out at two. Bandido kicked the knee out from under Hechicero and tried a tight cover, but no dice as Hechicero kicked out again, but the knee damage was done.

Hechicero grabbed Bandido in a spinning bear hug, tossing Bandido into the corner. Hechicero charged, but Bandido moved and picked up Hechicero in a high millitary press slam. He scrambled up top and hit a 450, but on what seemed like a slow count to this reporter, Hechicero kicked out at 2.5.

Hechicero hit a European upper cut followed by a sunset flip. He tried to put on a kimura lock, but Bandido got out of it right away, writhing in pain. Officials checked on Bandido who insisted on continuing,. They literally popped his shoulder back in place, taped it up and the match continued.

Bandido threw off the tape and one-handed, started throwing punches at Hechicero, who immediately went back to working the arm and shoulder. He put on the kimura lock, but Bandido wouldn’t give up. Hechicero hit a hight knee in the corner and Bandido resoonderd with a shot of his own. Hechicero charged, but Bandido moved and he hit the ropes.

Bandido hit a poisonrana followed by a shining wizard. The two answered a standing ten count and Hencicero rolled through into a body scissor and armbar on Bandido. Bandido rolled him into a stack position though and Hechicero kicked out and hit a headscissor off the ropes, then right back into the armbar. Bandido got his foot on the ropes, forcing him to break the hold.

Bandido with one arm got Hechicero up for an X-Knee, but couldn’t land the 21 Plex. Bandido flipped Hechicero over and managed to tie him up for a pin. 1-2-3 and Bandido retains the ROH World Title!

Match Result: Bandido defeated Hechicero

That was great! I can’t wait for Bandido vs Hechicero III: Hechicero With a Vengeace!

Shane Taylor (w/Carlie Bravo, Shawn Dean & Trish Adora) vs BEEF

Oh BEEF. Poor, sweet, delusional BEEF. When Large Epsilon coined the phrase “Meaty men slapping meat” a few years ago, he might as well have been talking about this match. Taylor is a large and violent man and BEEF is no slouch himself in the size department.

Taylor literally spat on BEEF’s attempt at a code of honor and started throwing jabs as the bell rang. Taylor sent BEEF off the ropes, but BEEF avoided the backdrop and laid in some right hands of his own. The ring literally shook as Taylor whipped BEEF into the corner. BEEF roared out of it though and hammered Taylor with more punches.

The Infantry then distracted the Ref and Taylor dumped BEEF on the outside. Bravo and Dean laid into him and threw him back in the ring where Taylor leg dropped him on the ring apron (the BEEFiest part of the ring!).

BEEF fought back though, laying shots into the gut of Taylor. Taylor recovered and laid him out with a lariat for a two count. Taylor slapped BEEF and threw him to the ropes. BEEF cartwheeled (seriously) back at him and landed another set of punches.

Eventually Taylor ducked and knocked BEEF in the noggin before hitting a standing splash. He went for the pin, but BEEF kicked out at two. The two brawled in the ring and BEEF went for a hig kick, but Taylor had it scouted and punched him in the face. Hard.

BEEF crumpled and Taylor got the pin to pick up the victory.

Match Result: Shane Taylor defeated BEEF

After the match, Taylor and the Infantry laid a beating (or tenderizing?) into BEEF, but were interrupted by BEEF’s sometimes-cousin Anthony Henry and JD Drake, the Workhorsemen! They ran off Taylor and Co, but the Workhorsemen were then jumped by LFI! The tag champions (and Dralistico) stood tall as thje segment came to and end.

Billie Starkz vs Viva Van

“Hey! It’s Viva Van!” cheered my 8-year old as Van came down to the ring. She then told me that Billie Starkz looked like Zoey from KPop Demon Hunters. Kids just get wrestling, I swear.

The two locked up and Starkz got a side headlock on Van. Van twisted it into a wristlock and Starkz rolled out of it after several attempts. She delivered a big boot to Van’s midsection, but Van ducked the following lariat.

Starkz grabbed a handful of hair and whiffed on a kick, giving Van the opening to punch her in the face. Van landed a hurricanrana and charged Starkz in the corner. Starz avoided it and grabbed a handful of hair, wrenching Van back and down to the mat.

Starkz pulled Van up and Van bounced off the ropes, avoiding Starkz until she could hit a face buster. Starkz rolled through it and started raining down forearms on Van. Starkz sent her to the corner exclaiming “I hate your face!” She went for a kick and then tried a pin, but Van kicked out at two.

Starkz chopped Van in the corner then booted her in the head. She went for a suplex, but Van blocked it and went for a punch of her own. Starkz responded with a pump-kick and Van did her best Undertaker impresson and rose up. Starkz laid her own and went up top for a Swanton, but Van got the knees up.

Van hit a clothesline and then a backfist. Van tried for a gutwrench but Starkz worked around it and hit a closed fist followed by a swandive. That was it for Van as Starkz pinned her for the win.

“Yay! Zoey won!”

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Viva Van

Next a QTV featuring Harley Cameron segment aired. Marshall and Solo discussed Big Boom AJ needing a mystery partner for a tag match. Solo asked if QT would tag with AJ and that summoned AJ into the room, with QT noting that AJ was “running out of options.” Then it was over and left us all asking why wasn’t there more Harley Cameron?

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs Logan Cruz & Tyshaun Perez

Cruz and Perez were making their ROH debut against the coolest guys in neon, Serpentico and Angelico.

The bell rang and Perez and Cruz locked up. Angelico had a signifcant lankiness advantage and used it to tie up Perez in a wristlock. He then tagged in Serpentico who hit a double stomp on Perez’ arm. Angelico hit a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker and then exited to leave Serpentico to take on Cruz.

Serpentico hit a hurricanrana and sent Cruz into the corner. Perez tried to help out, but Serpentico poked the eye. That left him open for a shot from Cruz though, who dragged Serpentico over to the corner. Perez tagged in and hit a standing moonsault for a two count.

Angelico reached as far as he could (which was pretty far) but Cruz and Perez held Serpentico far enough away to prevent the tag. They then had a miscommunication allowing Serpentico to get the tag and Angelico to clean house.

He hit a high heel kick, but Cruz and Perez tried a double team. Serpentico came in to help out and dove over the ropes onto Cruz on the outside. Back in the ring, Angelico put Perez in a grapevine and pulled back, causing him to tap out instantly.

Match Result: Spanish Announce Project defeated Logan Cruz & Tyshaun Perez

Next, a Frat House segment aired. The House was at the Jacksonville Jaguars game and nearly 4 people recognized them as they partied in the parking lot. This segment had nothing to do with Glacier, so it was entirely missable. They did announce that The Frat House would take on the Von Erichs next week, so that will be a nice, clean match I’m sure.

The bigger story was that Shannon Moore will be making his ROH Deubt next week against Blake Christian. Christian joined us from the back, saying that ROH is feeding him another has-been. Or perhapos a Never-Was.

IWGP Women’s Title Match: Sareee (c) vs Alex Windsor

These two shared the ring in a tag match last week, after which Windsor issued this challenge to Saree. Saree said yes, so here we are.

Windsor had a size advantage over Saree, but Saree has held the IWGP Title for over 100 days, so she knows how to get around stronger opponents. The two locked up and Windsor immediately tried to overpower Saree. Saree held her own though and they broke it up on the ropes.

Saree grabbed a wristlock and transitioned into a headlock, grinding Windsor’s head. Windsor used leverage to reverse it and put on a headlock of her own. Saree dropped down, but Windsor saw it coming and kicked her.

Saree rolled through and landed an arm drag. Windsor came back with hard strikes and threw Saree to the ropes. As the bounced back, Windsor caught her and slammed her, but off the two count, Saree popped right back up. She went for an Irish Whip, but Windsor sent her to the corner instead.

Windsor started hammering the back of Saree and then put her over her knees in a surfboard type hold. Saree kicked out of the pin attempt and put on an Octopus hold. Windsor staggered to the ropes with Saree on her back, but Saree pulled her back and dropped them both to the mat. Windsor got her foot on the ropes to beak the hold.

Saree went for a charge but got caught in the ropes and Windsor hit a baseball slide to send her out of the ring. Then she landed a cannonball from the ring apron and tried to get back in the ring. Saree caight her though and landed some big shots before putting her back in the ring.

Saree went up top for a missile dropkick, laying Windsor out. She then hit a double stomp from the top turnbuckle, but Windsor kicked out at two.

Saree landed a fisherwoman’s slam and went up top again. Windsor met her there though and picked her up for a powerbomb, then transitioning it into a Sharpshooter. Saree countered it though and hit a boot to the stomach. She followed that with a spinning heel kick, laying Windsor out.

The two started trading strikes in the middle of the ring. They went back and forth until they transitioned from chops to slaps. Saree landed a big forearm, but Windsor responded with a clothesline. Saree then hit two dropkicks and positioned Windsor on the mat.

Saree went up top and hit another double stomp, but Windsor kicked out at two. Windsor grabbed Saree and slammed her for a two count and tried to put that Sharpshooter on again. Saree blocked it though and sent her into the corner. When Saree charged, Windsor kicked her in the face and the dragged her to the top turnbuckle.

Saree headbutted her and went for a superplex, but Windsor blocked it. Windsor then hit a twisting super screwdriver suplex, but Saree kicked out at two. Windsor finally locked the Sharpshooter on Saree, but she was able to crawl to the ropes to break the hold.

Windsor went off the ropes, but Saree caught her with a punch and a bunch of headbutts. Saree then hit a double stomp out of the corner, but Windsor kicked out at two. Saree wrenched her over for a shoulder slam and that was it. Saree got the pin and retained her IWGP Women’s World Title!

Match Result: Sareee defeated Alex Windsor

Two great title matches and a bunch of brawling! Can’t ask for much more from a great night of wrestling!

Injury updates on AEW’s Bandido & Nick Wayne

Image: AEW

Despite sustaining a shoulder injury during a Friday match for CMLL, Ring of Honor World Champion and AEW World Tag Team Champion Bandido is going to attempt to push through it.

During Saturday’s AEW Collision, he and partner Brody King were announced for Tuesday’s special edition of Dynamite, taking on Konosuke Takeshita & Kazuchika Okada in a Double Jeopardy match where a shot at both the Tag Team titles and Okada’s Unified title will be on the line.

On Saturday, AEW head Tony Khan replied to a King X post (“Mr Bandido, you better tape your shoulder back together we got work to do.”), saying, “I talked to him this morning! He said that he wants to power through it + wrestle on Tuesday!”

Bandido said his shoulder “popped out” during the Friday match against Hechicero.

**********

Nick Wayne may be out up to two more months as he continues to recover from a broken foot.

The reigning ROH men’s TV Champion appeared on Saturday’s Collision in a backstage segment when AEW medical told him his ankle was still swollen and he was out six-to-eight more weeks. Wayne was less than thrilled with the news.

Wayne was injured in August which forced him off the Forbidden door pay-per-view. His last match was in mid-July, but it’s unclear how or where the 20-year-old sustained the injury.

AEW wrestler suffers shoulder injury during CMLL match

Bandido suffered an injury on Friday night.

At CMLL Viernes Espectacular in Arena Mexico, Bandido successfully defended his ROH World Championship against Hechicero. Later that night, however, he posted an image to Instagram Stories of his arm in a sling and wrote that his shoulder popped out during the match.

Bandido wrote:

“Apologies to all the CMLL fans.
My shoulder popped out and went back into place.
Thank you, Hechicero, for being a gentleman.
We owe a third match to all our Mexican fans.”

The first Hechicero vs. Bandido match took place at ROH Death Before Dishonor in August, which was also won by Bandido.

Bandido is currently one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions along with Brody King as Brodido. They are scheduled to defend their titles on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite against Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada of the Don Callis Family. Brodido have defended their belts four times since winning them at Forbidden Door on August 24, including once in CMLL.

ROH World title match set for Friday’s CMLL event

The next ROH World title defense is in a matter of days.

CMLL has revealed the card for their upcoming show in Mexico City this Friday in Arena Mexico. In the semifinal, Bandido will defend the ROH World Championship against Hechicero. This will be a rematch from Death Before Dishonor in August that saw Bandido retain the championship in a match of the year contender.

Since returning from injury, Bandido has kept a busy schedule, wrestling not only for AEW and ROH but also CMLL, where he has become a regular. Alongside Brody King, Brodido successfully defended the AEW Tag Team titles against Difunto and Zandokan Jr. on September 12. A few days later, they also successfully defended the titles in a four-way ladder match at All Out.

This Friday’s Arena Mexico show will be headlined by a women’s trios match that will see Olympia team up with India Sioux and La Catalina to take on Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit, and Candela.

CMLL for Friday, October 3

  • Olympia, India Sioux, and La Catalina vs. Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit, and Candela
  • ROH World Championship: Bandido defends against Hechicero
  • Atlantis, Templario, and Atlantis Jr. vs. Ultimo Guerrero, Difunto, and Okumura
  • La Jarochita, Skadi, and Tabata vs. Zeuxis, Persephone, and Sanely
  • Rey Cometa, Fuego, and Espiritu Negro vs. Raider, Espanto Jr., and El Gallero

AEW title match set to headline Friday’s CMLL event

A new match for the AEW Tag Team titles have been set.

CMLL revealed the poster and card for this coming Friday’s event in Mexico City. Bandido and Brody King will defend their titles against the team of Zandokan Jr. and Difunto. This will be their second title defense since winning the titles in a three-way match at AEW’s Forbidden Door event last month.

Since making his return to wrestling, Bandido has been working CMLL dates in addition to AEW and ROH, where he holds ROH’s World title. This past Friday in Mexico City, he teamed with Mistico in a winning effort against Angel de Oro and Hechicero.

AEW and CMLL have enjoyed a strong partnership this year, with AEW’s event in Arena Mexico drawing high praise. One of their top stars, MJF, is headlining this year’s CMLL Anniversario event against Mistico in a mask vs. title match.

Here is the updated lineup for Friday’s CMLL event:

CMLL for Friday, August 12:

  • AEW Tag Team titles: Brodido defend against Zandokan Jr. and Difunto
  • Copa Independencia: Atlantis & Blue Panther, Titan & Templario, Euforia & Mephisto, Max Star & Futuro
  • La Catalina vs. Zeuxis
  • Magia Blanca, Xelhua, Hijo del Pantera vs. Calavera Jr. I, Infarto, and Calavera Jr. II
  • Galaxy and Shockercito vs. Pequeno Polvora and Full Metal

Bandido praises Tony Khan following Jake Hager criticism

Bandido doesn’t share any of the same criticisms of Tony Khan that Jake Hager has recently voiced.

Hager — who departed AEW in 2024 — has done multiple interviews of late where he’s taken shots at Khan and criticized him as a boss. In the wake of those comments, Bandido appeared on the Battleground Podcast and was asked to give his own perspective on working for Khan.

“I’m very grateful with him. You know, he always believe in me since day one,” Bandido said. “Tony was very excited with me since PWG shows. And I’m just happy to be here now and that Tony believes in me. I just want to say thank you to Tony, thank you to all the company, and thank you to all my partners here because it’s such a great locker room over here.”

Bandido is a champion in both AEW and ROH, holding the AEW Tag Team titles with Brody King and singles gold as the ROH World Champion. He’s coming off two heavily praised ROH title defenses against Konosuke Takeshita and Hechicero.

In an interview with Vice that was published today, Bandido discussed how excited he is to work with everyone in the AEW tag team division.

“Well, you know, AEW is always with the surprises. So that is the fabulous thing to work here because we don’t know what is next,” he said. “But we are very excited because, like you say, there are so many great names in the tag team division, and I’m very excited to work with everybody. The Young Bucks, FTR, the whole roster, it has been fantastic for me.”

ROH Death Before Dishonor live results: Bandido & Athena title defenses

Two title matches co-headline tonight’s Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor streaming special on HonorClub from Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.

ROH World Champion Bandido defends against Hechicero in search of his fifth successful title defense.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will continue her push toward 1000 days as titleholder as she defends returning interim ROH Women’s TV Champion Mina Shirakawa.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty defends against Xelhua.

Sammy Guevara will be in action twice with the chance to leave a double champion. In one match, he and a mystery partner will face The Outrunners for the vacant ROH Tag Team titles while in the other, he joins The Von Erichs against Shane Taylor & The Infantry for the vacant ROH Six-Man titles. The vacancies are due to Dustin Rhodes’ upcoming knee surgeries.

The show is rounded out by actor/wrestler Paul Walter Hauser vs. QT Marshall in a Fight Without Honor.

Our live coverage begins with the Zero Hour pre-show.

**********

This is it, friends! Death Before Dishonor 2025 is knocking on our collective wrestling-watching door, but first; ZERO HOUR!

Jay Lethal vs. Jordan Oliver

As is the ROH way, about a dozen matches for tonight were added to the card about an hour ago, including this one! Lethal is pretty synonymous with ROH, so this makes sense. Oliver is also there.

Lethal had Oliver from the jump, sending him around the ring and bouncing him off the ropes before pausing for his signature strut. That gave Oliver a chance to knock him down and mock him with the very same strut.

Oliver got in a flurry of offense here and there, but Lethal was in control for the lion’s share of this match. Oliver had a good outing, at one point blocking three suplexes in short succession. Lethal was having fun playing his greatest hits and Oliver almost got him a couple of times having scouted the Lethal Injection and the big elbow.

In the end though, Lethal was able to reverse a dragon screw into a figure four and Oliver was forced to tap out.

Match Result: Jay Lethal defeated Jordan Oliver

-Lexy Nair caught up with the Sons of Texas outside the event. Ross Von Erich paid tribute to the injured Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara said that they were going to win. Marshall agreed. Lexy asked Guevara who who be his partner in the Tag Team Titles match and Guevara teased… Chris Jericho? How intriguing…

MxMxTV (Mansoor and Madden) w/ Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie vs The Dark Order (John Silver and Alex Reynolds) w/ Evil Uno vs The Frat House (Griff Garrison and Cole Karter) w/ Jackked Jameson

So MxMxTV are doing this really gross thing that only they seem to find funny, which is promoting a fragrance called SEED. it’s gross. The Frat House came out sans-Preston Vance, but with a half-dozen pledges. The Dark Order came out with cool jackets as usual, but not matching this time. I wonder how that will factor…

This tag-team three way kicked off with Reynolds and Garrison, with Silver quickly jumping in for a Dark Order double team. Karter hit a blind tag to reverse the double team, but when they posed, MxM jumped in to one-up their poses.

Everyone ran outside the ring for some reason and John Silver took out all the pledges. When he got back in the ring though, he faced the much bigger Mansoor. The Order and MxM had a trios match on ROH on Honorclub last night, so this was something of a replay of that until everyone started brawling.

On the outside, Mansoor grabbed the Frat House’s intiation paddle and spanked Jameson with it, in between makeout sessions between TV and Valkyrie. In the ring, Reynolds and Karter held down the fort, wrestling wise.

This match was undeniably chaotic. There were simply too many people at ringside and so much was happening that it was hard to follow. Everyone was spamming finishers, which was exciting in that it kept the audience guessing about the outcome, but it was exhausting to watch.

In the end, The Order had Mansoor pinned, but the ref didn’t see it. TV Sprayed some SEED (blech) into Reynolds’ face (double blech) allowing Mansoor to reverse the pin and get the win for MxMxTV.

Match Result: MxMxTV defeated The Frat House and The Dark Order

-Backstage, Lexy Nair congratulated Jay Lethal on his win earlier. They were interrupted by Blake Christian and Lee Johnson who reminded Lethal that Christian beat him at Supercard of Honor. That made Lethal sad.

-QT Marshall was shown arriving at the arena with Aaron Solo. He ran down Paul Walter Hauser, who apparently was arriving at the same time on the other side of the parking garage. Hauser said that he was angry and he was going to take it out on Marshall.

Pure Rules Match: Ashley Vox vs Billie Starkz

So this Pure Rules match is NOT part of the long-gestating Women’s Pure Championship Tournament, but it does give us a chance to watch Billie Starkz work, so I’ll allow it.

I’ll get the Pure Rules schtick out of the way here:

Each wrestler gets three rope breaks. After that, pin or submission under the ropes is legal. There is one warning for a closed fist, with the second instance causing a DQ. Outside interference is also a DQ. If there is no clear winner as time expires, a panel of judges will award the win. The judeges tonight are Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels and Dean Malenko.

Starkz was forced to use her first rope break at 7:42 as she and Vox tussled. Starkz stomped Vox in the corner and hit a really gnarly knee to her face. Vox kept up with Starkz though until Starkz hit a satellite DDT and went up for a swan dive. Vox slid out of the way and hit a rolling headscissor.

Vox fishooked Starkz, forcing her to use her second rope break. That pissed Starkz off and goaded her into using her one closed fist. at 4:15. Starkz then hit a massive Last Shot backbreaker and got the pin on Vox.

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Ashley Vox

$50.000 Four-way match: Adam Priest vs. Angélico (w/Serpentico) vs. AR Fox vs. Dralístico

Tony Khan has too much money! There was a $50k four-way before Supercard of Honor (won by AR Fox), there was a $100k match on Collision a couple of weeks ago and now AR Fox has a chance to add a second $50K purse to his earnings. All I’m saying is that no one even asked me to be in any of those matches and that stings a little.

Angelico came out with a sweet new bucket hat, so I’m thinking that he’s the favourite to win this. He’s got hat bills to pay, after all.

Dralistico and Priest rolled out of the ring for some reason to kick things off and Angelico and Fox dove out after them. Angelico and Fox then wrestled in the ring while the other two watched. Angelico had Fox in a submission, but Dralistico broke it up.

Priest then started in on Angelico who hit a bridged figure four, again broken up by Dralistico. He and Priest took turns delivering chops to Angelico in the corner. Fox hit a springboard onto Dralistico and Priest, taking them both out.

Fox then took on Dralistico and Priest two-on one and managed to keep them both off their feet. He also kept himself off his feet by diving through the ropes onto them. Next he hit a cutter on Angelico and tossed him into the ring.

Fox walked the barricade a dropped a big leg onto Angelico on the ring apron (the foxiest part of the ring!). Dralistico got involved, holding Fox so Priest to rip his leg out form underneath him. Priest hit a superplex off the second rope on Fox, but couldn’t get a pin.

Dralistico hit a big swanton on Priest but he also couldn’t get a pin. Fox stepped up to Dralistico, trading chops and slaps with him. Dralistico then hit a spingboard destroyer, but Angelico broke up the pin attempt. Dralistico went up top for a big codebreaker and got the pin on Angelico to pick up the win and the cash.

Match Result: Dralistico defeated Adam Priest, Angélico and AR Fox

And now… DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR!

The Conglomeration (Hologram and Tomohiro Ishii) vs. Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese) (with “Smart” Mark Sterling)

There is no reason for this match to exist other than I’m really looking forward to seeing Ishii throw Nese and Daivari around like sotballs in a slow pitch tournament. So to that, I say, Athletes Suck!

Daivari and Ishii kicked things off with Ishii stonewalling Daivari’s attempts to get him off his feet. Daivari slapped Ishii’s bald head, which made him angry. Like Meng-level angry. From there he no-sold a dozen chops and chopped Daivari across the ring. Daivari reached for a tag, but Nese refused, not wanting to take on Ishii.

Nese finally entered the match to face off against Hologram, sending him into the corner. Nese hit a double dropkick, but Hologram went up top. Nese moved and the two hit dueling crossbodies. Sterling got up on the apron to cause a distraction, allowing Daivari to hit a Carpet Ride on Hologram for a two count.

Hologram found himself cut off in the Athletes corner while Daivari and Nese tagged in and out, applying various holds to him. Hologram got a pin on Nese, but the ref was distracted talking about the weather with Ishii and missed it. That allowed Daivari to rain down more punishment with the help of Sterling.

The double teams continued, with Ishii powerless to stop it. Hologram finally made the hot tag to Ishii who leapt in and cleared house, taking our Daivari and Nese. Ishii began chopping and punching Nese in the corner before hitting a side slam.

Hologram jumped in to help his partner and the two hit stereo suplexes on the Athletes. Ishii lifted Nese for a brainbuster, but Nese kicked out at two. Nese hit a spinning heel kick that knocked Ishii off his feet for the first time. Hologram hit a big springboard to give him a chance to recover.

Nese grabbed Hologram for a piledriver, but Hologram kicked out. Hologram dodged an attack by Daivari who hit Sterling by mistake. Hologram dove out of the ring repeatedly taking out Athletes left and right.

Ishii got Nese up for a spiked brainbuster and that was it, Ishii and Hologram win.

Match Result: The Conglomeration defeated The Premier Athletes

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championship Match: The Sons of Texas (Marshall Von Erich, Ross Von Erich, and Sammy Guevara) vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo, and Capt. Shawn Dean)

YES! As much as I love the Sons of Texas, I cam even more excited to see STP finally get a chance at some championship belts. The titles were technically vacated last night on ROH on Honorclub, so no matter who wins, they will be the “new” champions.

Bravo started the match against Guevara, with Guevara taking a shot at Dean on the apron. Bravo avenged his partner and isolated Guevara in the STP corner at the same time. Guevara slipped out though, delivering a backflip dropkick to Bravo.

Guevara tagged in Ross who bounced Bravo’s skull off the turnbuckle before delivering one hell of a kick in the corner. Bravo tried to leap away but was met by another dropkick. Ross shot Bravo off the ropes for Marshall to hit a slam on him, but only got a two count.

Trish Adora distracted the ref, while Dean pulled Ross out of the ring for Taylor and Bravo to beat on him. Bravo set up Ross in the STP corner for a rapid fire assault from all three members of STP. Taylor ended up legal, headbutting Ross, drawing the ire of Marshall.

Dean tagged in and landed a bronco buster on Ross in the corner (dubbed a “BBC” Bronco Buster from Captain). Tayle tagged back in and Ross hit him in the stomach. Taylor kneed him in the jaw for his trouble. Dean slammed Ross, then took a moment to punch Marshall so he didn’t feel left out.

Ross finally got the hot tag to his brother and Marshall jumped in to start clearing the ring. Marshall took out Dean and Bravo and even got Taylor with a scoop slam. Marshall went up top and hit a moonsault on Taylor, but only got a two count.

Marshall then tried the Claw on Taylor, but Dean broke it up. Taylor hit a splash on Marshall and then Dean hit a big frog splash, but Ross broke up the pin. Taylor threw Ross out of the ring and into the steel steps. In the ring, Marshall and Dean, the legal men, traded blows.

Marshall walked into a big knee from Dean, but responded with a discus clothesline. Marshall got a tag to Guevara, who kicked Dean in theback of the head before hitting springboard cutter. Guevara flipped over the top rope in an attempt to get Dean, but hit Marshall instead.

Bravo was the legal man and Taylor punched Guevara in the face so the infantry could double stomp him. That was it and STP won the match to become the new Six Man World Tag Team Champions!

Match Result: Shane Taylor Promotions defeated The Sons of Texas

ROH Women’s Pure Championship Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Taya Valkyrie vs. Queen Aminata

To quote Brooklyn 99’s Terry Crews: Oh damn! ROH remembered they had that Women’s Pure belt made! This tournament was set to be finalized at Supercard of Honor, but injury, call ups to Dynamite and Collision and just pure bad luck stalled it somewhat. I’m very excited that it’s back on the docket though!

See the Zero Hour match between Ashley Vox and Billie Starkz for the lowdown on the Pure Rules division. Aminata forced Valkyrie to us her first rope break at 9:45. That’s 15 seconds into the match. She then shoved Valkyrie into the ropes, causing her to use her second rope break at 9:00 even.

Aminata controlled things from there, using her unique cache of butt-based offense to put Valkyrie on the mat. She then whipped her into the corner, but Valkyrie moved and delivered a kick to the head, followed by a german suplex. Valkyrie worked Aminata’s knee around the ringpost next.

Valkyrie dropped a leg on Aminata’s throat on the ring apron (the throatiest part of the ring!) and began mocking her. Aminata can back swinging, but Valkyrie hit a sit-out powerbomb as the clock passed 6 minutes.

Valkyrie tried to get Animata up in a surfboard, but modified it into a chicken wing, forcing Aminata to use her first rope break at 4:19. The two traded punches until Aminata slapped Valkyrie’s chest, setting her up for another and another.

Aminata hit a snapmare and mid-match, they changed the time limit from 10 minuted to 60 minutes. In the match, Valkyrie was forced to use her last rope break. Valkyrie tried to get Aminata up, but she reversed it into an Armbar. Valkyrie went for the ropes, but she had no breaks left.

Animata head butted Valkyrie out of nowhere and got the pin to advance in the tournament.

Match Result: Taya Valkyrie vs. Queen Aminata

After the match, Deonna Purazzo (who’s facing Trish Adora in the tournament) came down to the ring to stare down Aminata. Aminata offered her hand, but Purazzo shrugged it off.

-Backstage, Lexy Nair reminded everyone that Sammy Guevara has yet to pick his partner for the Tag Team Title Match later in the show.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson vs. The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett)

Taven and Bennett have been leaning towards the light recently, which makes them a good foil for the dastardly Christian and Johnson. Also, Johnson and Christian have decided to us “The Swirl” as a team name, which in no way invokes the image of a toilet flushing in my mind.

The match started with a standard brawl and when the dust settled, Taven and Johnson were legal in the ring. Bennett tagged in a peppered Johnson with chops in the corner. Christian tried to intervene, but Bennett gave him the same treatment.

Bennett went for an elbow, but Christian pulled Johnson out of the way. On the outside, Johnson hung Bennett up on the barricade and Christian hit a big splash onto him from the ring apron (the splashiest part of the ring!) Then, Jay Lethal was shown watching the match in the back at the odd angle that all wrestlers watch tv.

Back in the ring, Johnson and Christian had Bennett isolated and we tagging in and out to beat him senseless. Bennett kicked off Christian and got a tag to Taven who ducked a clothesline and hit a back body drop on Johnson. He then tried a springboard, but Christian rolled away.

Bennett tagged back in and so did Johnson. They worked through a series of pinning combinations, but neither man got a three count. Christian jumped on Taven’s back and Johnson did the same on Bennett, trying to get sleepers. The Kingdom hit stereo proton packs though.

Taven and Johnson were legal and Johnson got Taven up on his shoulders and hit a spicolli driver, followed by a splash by Christian. Taven tried a quick rollup, but Christian locked in Vanilla Choke Zeo. Across the ring, Johnson held Bennett, but Bennett reversed it into a death valley driver onto Christian before Taven could tap.

Jay Lethal was shown in the back, approving.

Christian got caught by Bennett in a spicolli driver and Taven hit Just the Tip, but Christian rolled out before it could be pinned. The Swirl (ew) hit a spicolli driver/stomp combo on Bennett on the outside before facing Taven.

Taven spammed superkicks, but Chriswtian hit a low blow behind the ref’s back. One more Spicolli/Stomp combo and that was it as Christian pinned Taven for the win.

Jay Lethal was shown in the back, disapproving.

Match Result: Blake Christian and Lee Johnson defeated The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett)

ROH Pure Rules Championship Match: Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Xelhua

At Supercard of Honor, Moriarty successfully defended his Pure Title against the legendary Blue Panther. Fun Fact: if you add the ages of Moriarty (30) and Xelhua (21) together, they are still over a decade younger than Blue Panther (64).

The match started with a 60 minute countdown on the timer, so that’s what we’re going with now. Moriarty and Xelhua locked up, trying to force each other to use up a rope break. It didn’t work for either man though and they reset.

Xelhua put on a surfboard cloverleaf next, forcing Moriarty to use a rope break at 58:45. Moriarty started throwing open hands at Xelhua’s chest, but the luchadore reversed it into a leg lock submission in the center of the ring. Moriarty threw him off though with an armdrag.

Moriarty started working the hands of XelHua, but that just gave him a chance to tie Moriarty in knots. The ref issued Xelhua a warning for a closed fist and Moriarty used the opportunity to hit a codebreaker. Then he danced. No, really.

Moriarty whiffed on a big elbow and Xelhua hit a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker. Moriarty lured Xelhua intot he corner and drove his skull into the turnbuckle. He then hit a dropkick but only got a two count. Moriarty went back to working the hand of Xelhua, splitting his fingers.

Moriarty then tied him up in a grapevine, forcing Xelhua to use a rope break at 53:20. Moriarty then hit a high stomp on Xelhua’s hand. Moriarty split the finger again, twisting and slamming Xelhua’s hand on the mat, trying to take away the luchadore’s grabbing ability.

Xelhua blocked a suplex, but Moriarty dropkicked him to the outside and dove after him, driving him into the barricade. it was so nice, Moriarty did it again. And again. But on the third, Xelhua caught him and put Moriarty in a straightjacket on the outside.

They went back into the ring to break the count and Moriarty wrenched Xelhua’s arm on the ropes. He then got a Border City Stretch on, forcing Xelhua to use a rope break at 49:17. Xelhua responded with a stalling suplex, leaving both men on their backs.

Xelhua got to his feet first and peppered Moriarty with chops. Xelhua went up top next and hit a crossbody from the top turnbuckle. Xelhua put a hammerlock submission on Moriarty, but Moriarty got his foot on the ropes, using his second rope break at 46:33.

Moriarty went back to working Xelhua’s arm and hand before hitting a flapjack for a two count. Moriarty planted Xelhua and went for a cover, but Xelhua got his foot on the ropes, using his final rope break at 45:20.

Moriarty took advantage and locked in a Border City Stretch. Xelhua rolled it into a pin attempt and then hit at tailbone slam for a two-count. Moriarty put on a Octopus stretch, followed by a Border City Stretch through the ropes. Xelhua had no rope breaks left, so he was forced to tap out.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty defeated Xelhua

After the match, respect was shown by both men and STP came down the ramp to celebrate their wins together.

Fight Without Honor: Paul Walter Hauser vs. Q. T. Marshall

I haven’t seen Naked Gun yet, but I hear that one participant in this match is in it. So, good for whoever that is. Anyway, Marshall threw a drink in Hauser’s face 6 months ago. Hauser is famously sober, so now they are going to have a fight about it.

Marshall claimes Hauser “isn’t a real wrestler” but Hauser certainly looks the part. As the match started, they locked up, which was odd for a Fight Without Honor. Marshall’s strategy seemed to be to out-wrestle Hauser, putting on a headlock. Hauser was able to reverse it for a scoop slam, to Masrhall’s surprise.

Hauser hit an atomic drop and side russian leg sweep, causing Marshall to scramble from the ring. Hauser hit a cannonball from the ring apron (the most Golden Globe winning part of the ring!). Hauser then went underneath and pulled out a table.

Marshall threw a chair at Hauser, but he ducked it and shoved the table into Marshall’s gut. He then tried to suplex Marshall through the table, but Marshall reversed it. Hauser then reversed that an suplexed Marshall on the floor before sending him back into the ring.

Hauser went underneath the ring again and pulled out a ladder. Before he could put it in the ring, Marshall sent it into his face with a baseball slide. Marshall set the Ladder up in the corner and Hauser climbed into the ring and started punching, using the moment to pay tribute to Dustin Rhodes.

Marshall picked up Hauser and threw him onto the ladder. Marshall adjusted the ladder on the ropes and hit Hauser’s face off of it. Marshall went under the ring while Hauser bled in the corner. Marshall found a box that contained a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat and chair.

Marshall went with the bat and raked it over the forehead of Hauser after hitting him in the back. Marshall went with the chair next, but Hauser ducked it and sent Marshall into the corner. He then hit him with the chair across his exposed back.

Hauser put Marshall up on hisd shoulders and Aaron Solo arrived with a Kendo Stick to help Marshall. He beat Hauser with it mercilessly will Marshall recovered. Solo and Marshall brought two tables into the ring. Solo hit Hauser with the ladder while Marshall grabbed a third table.

Hauser wailed as Solo hit him with the chair again and again. Marshall got another box, this one draped with a black curtain. Before he could open it though, Hauser thew Marshall out of the ring. Solo went to handcuff Hauser, but who should appear but HOOK!

Hook put Solo through a table and dragged him out of the ring and to the back in a choke hold. Marshall raked Hauser’s eyes and then tried to pile drive him on the ring apron (the most Emmy winning part of the ring!) Hauser reversed it though into a plunge slam through the table!

Hauser threw Marshall back in the ring and grabbed a chair. He smashed it over the head of Marshall and set it up in the ring. He picked up Marshall and hit a sit down piledriver on the chair for a two count. Hauser then produced his Golden Globe award and smashed it into Marshall’s face.

Hauser dragged the cloth covered box into the middle of the ring and revealed that it was full of broken glass. Hauser tried to drive Marshall’s face into it, but Marshall tried to hit a diamond cutter into it. Hauser moved and Marshall landed on the glass. Hauser then hoisted him up and slammed him on the glass again. Somehow, Marshall kicked out at two though.

Hauser then produced a bag of thumbtacks, spreading them around the ring. Marshall hit a superkick though and then powerbombed Hauser on the tacks.

Marshall grabbed a table next and set it up in the ring. He then covered it in broken glass. Marshall grabbed a mic and told the crowd to shut up. He then jawed at Hauser, dragging him to his feet. Hauser hit a low blow on the way up and rolled Marshall up on the tacks for a two count.

Hauser hit a double axe handle and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Marshall woke up and punched him right in the golden globes. Marshall hit a diamond cutter from the top rope through the glass covered table and pinned Hauser, 1-2-3.

Match Result: Q. T. Marshall defeated Paul Walter Hauser

After the match, Hauser got a nod of respect form Marshall and a standing ovation from the crowd. He really did give it everything.

ROH World Tag Team Championship Match: Sammy Guevara and TBA (c) vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum)

During Zero Hour, Guevara said that he didn’t want to “break the walls down” and spoil who his mystery partner is for this match. With that tease in play, his partner turned out to be…

Not Ross Von Erich… Not Marshall Von Erich…

But… RUSH!

(shut up, it makes sense. kinda)

The match started with much speculation as to Guevara’s status with LFI, but all that mattered was the ROH Tag Titles and Rush and Guevara were on the same page when it comes to that. Guevara started things off against Magnum, relying on his cockiness to cover for the fact he’d already wrestled one match tonight.

Magnum got an armdrag followed by a dropkick on Guevara who moved to his corner and tagged in Rush. Magnum tagged in Floyd and the two mighty men began slapping the meat, as it were. Rush pie-faced Floyd in the corner and chopped him across th ring. Floyd stood up to him though and a shoving match ensued.

Magnum grabbed a tag and the Outrunners double teamed Rush. Guevara complained to the camera about the crowd in Philly before accepting a tag from Rush to double dropkick Magnum. Magnum tried a quick rollup, but Guevara sent him face-first into the bottom rope.

Rush dragged Magnum out of the ring and sent him into the steel steps. Guevara followed and sent him into the barricade. Rush threw a beer in Magnum’s face and Guevara slid him back into the ring, cutting him off before he was able to make a tag to Floyd.

Guevara chopped him in the corner before tagging in Rush to do the same. The two traded off stomps and chops on Magnum in the corner, pausing only to Pose in the center of the ring. This was full pre-kid Guevara at his best.

Magnum almost got a tag to Floyd, but Guevara got him in a sleeper before he could get there. Magnum turned it into a back suplex and finally got the tag to Floyd as Guevara got a tag to Rush. Floyd cleared the ring though, slamming Magnum onto Rush.

The Outrunners tried to hit their double elbow, but Guevara interrupted it. They tried to irish whip the Outrunners into each other, but Floyd and Magnum reversed it and clotheslined Rush and Guevara. The hit their double elbow on Rush, but Guevara interrupted Total Recall.

The Outrunners responded by hitting Total Recall on Guevara but he wasn’t legal. All four started to brawl, with the Outrunners taking out Guevara. Magnum went up top but Guevara pushed him off the turnbuckle. Floyd got clocked by Rush who landed the Bulls Horns.

Rush tagged in Guevara who went up top for a shooting star press and covered Floyd to get the victory. Sammy Guevara and Rush are your new ROH World Tag Team Champions!

Match Result: Sammy Guevara and Rush defeated The Outrunners

After the match, Dralistico came down to celebrate with Rush and Guevara. So did the Von Erichs. Guevara tried to make peace between everyone, but then superkicked Marshall while Rush slammed Ross with a title belt, Guevara’s status with LFI now brazenly clear.

-Backstage, Lexy Nair interviewed the Outrunners about their loss. Before they could answer a question though, a celebrating STP came by and made fun of them.

ROH World Championship Match: Bandido (c) vs. Hechicero

The last two Bandido title defenses have been no-brainer contenders for Match of the Year. With Hechicero in the opposite corner tonight, I’m pretty confident he’s going to hit the trifecta. Don Callis, bad Spanish and all, came down to introduce Hechicero. Bandido entered wearing an era-clashing suit of armor and six-guns on his hips, which made me wonder if more wrestlers came to the ring strapped would there be fewer title changes?

“Everything that Hechicero is, he looks like.” -Caprice Coleman.

The match started with an attempted lock up that ended with Bandido kicking Hechicero in the shins. They locked up for real with Hechicero walking Bandido into the corner, where nothing happened. The two locked up again, this time with Bandido getting a wristlock on. Again not satisfied, they locked up again, with Hechicero wrenching the arm of Bandido.

Hechicero took Bandido down with a leg sweep, locking his legs around his head. Bandido grabbed the rope and Bandido tried a headscissor, twisting through to send Hechicero to the mat. Hechicero reversed it into a surfboard style submission attempt, torquing the knee of Bandido.

Bandido hauled Hechicero up into a tombstone position, but Hechicero rolled through and grabbed Bandido, working the arm for a head scissor and double wristlock. Hechicero found Bandido’s ankle, but Bandido popped up and ate a big shoulder tackle. Hechicero continued working the arm, but missed a senton.

Hechicero dropped Bandido with a toe hold, Bandido responded with a frankensteiner, sending Hechicero to the outside. Hechicero climbed back into the ring and Bandido picked up the speed with some flips and dodges, running circles around Hechicero, finishing with a flip to the outside leaving both men on their backs.

Bandido got to his feet first and used the advantage to flip off Don Callis. Back in the ring, Bandido whipped Hechicero into the corner, but Hechicero came back with a high knee to Bandido’s chest. Hechicero hit a DDT next for a two count.

Hechicero tried to peel the mask from Bandido’s face, but settled for punching it instead. Hechicero hit a pump handle slam and Callis began causing a distraction at ringside. Hechicero hit a crossbody on Bandido on the ropes.

Bandido staggered to his feet to be met by punches from Hechicero. He started returning them, but Hechicero caught hid ankle on a leapfrog and pulled him to the mat. Hechicero wrapped up the legs of Bandido, trying to take away his speed in a surfboard.

Bandido powered out of it though and reversed it into an instep surfboard of his own. Hechicero stepped out of it and wrapped Bandido in a grapevine, forcing him to grab the ropes to break the hold. Bandido then rolled out of the ring and Hechicero followed.

Hechicero threw Bandido into the barricade and put him back in the ring. Hechicero put a sleeper on and then transitioned into an armbar. Hechicero wrenched the arm of Bandido back, twisting his shoulder.

Hechicero tried to tear Bandido’s mask again, ripping it and almost revealing Bandido’s face. Bandido staggered towards the ropes, but Hechicero didn’t let up. Bandido reached deep and started returning kicks and punches, followed by a spingboard corkscrew.

Bandido lifted Hechicero in a military press and dropped him on his head. Hechicero left the ring and Bandido followed with a corkscrew over the top rope. Bandidio threw Hechicero back into the ring and went up top for a frog splash, but Hechicero kicked out at two.

Bandido tried to pull up the mask of Hechicero, but stopped when the crowd disapproved. He swept Hechicero’s lego and sent him out of the ring. When he followed, Hechicero hooked his leg over the barricade and hit a big elbow off the ring apron (the most elbowy part of the ring!).

Hechicero climbed the barricade, bringing Bandido with him. Hechicero tried to suplex him, but Bandido blocked it, instead suplexing Hechicero on the barricade, leaving both men laying.

Hechicero tried to stomp Bandido on the ring apron, but Bandido got the knees up sending him off the apron. Bandido then climbed the ringpost and hit a high splash onto Hechicero. Bandido then slid back into the ring to beat the count as Hechicero staggerd up.

Hechicero moved to end the match, but Bandido exploded with a flurry of offense. Hechicero tried for another sleeper, but Bandido broke it by hyperextending the arm. Bandido then tried a Code Red, but hechicero blocked it and hit a helicopter down to the floor, smacking Bandido’s head against the barricade on the way down.

Back in the ring, Hechicero put Bandido in a body scissor and wrenched his knee back. Bandido wiggled free and staggered to his feet. Hechicero put on a spinning hammerlock, but Bandido countered the backbreaker. Hechicero hit a high knee and Bandido followed with a superkick. Bandido hit a headscissor takedown, but both men ended up flat on their backs.

Callis started pounding on the ring apron to get Hechicero moving but both men sat up at once. Bandido flipped off Hechicero and the two began headbutting each other. The got to their feet and Hechicero dropped the straps.

Bandido got a gutwrench spin out slam on Henchicero but Hechicero blocked the 21 plex. Bandido rolled over and lifted Hechicero off the ground. Hechicero tried to roll through but Bandido twisted into a leg lock. Hechicero flipped it into another surfboard style hold and Bandido got to the ropes.

Bandido put Hechicero on the the top turnbuckle and Hechicero headbutted him. Bandido hit a slam and then a 21 Plex attempt into a straightjacket and german suplex to finally get the pin and retain the title. Trifecta achieved!

Match Result: Bandido defeated Hechicero

ROH Women’s World Championship Match: Athena (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa

In case you forgot (because I sure did!) Shirakawa is the Interim ROH Women’s Television Champion while Red Velvet recovers from injury.  Also, the Blue Meanie, I mean, Blue Minion came down to the ring with Athena and her Minions in Training. Shirakawa also wanted to dance with the Meanie, which enraged Athena who kicked him out of the ring.

After a very agressive Code of Honor, the bell rang and the two locked up. Athena worked the shoulder of Shirakawa, as the two twisted around each other. They exchanged leaps and roll throughs until Shirakawa dodged a big right hand from Athena.

Athena ducked under the ropes and got some words of encouragment from Billie Starkz at ringside. Shirakawa laid a boot to Athena’s gut followed by as side russian leg sweep. Shirakawa shook her money maker on the top rope and hit a spingboard splash on Athena. Athena pushed her off, favoring her knee.

Athena rolled out, clutching her knee and Shirakawa followed, smacking Athena into the ring post. She went to punch Athena, but she ducked and Shirakawa punched the post with her already injured hand. From there, Athena worked the hand on the barricade and stuck in between the steps and the ring post. Athena then dropkicked the steps, crushing Shirakawa’s hand.

Back in the ring, Athena kicked Shirakawa into a pin attempt, then dropped a knee onto her already injured hand repeatedly. Athena put on a short arm scissor lock, bending Shirakawa’s arm back in on itself. She sent Shirakawa into the corner, bouncing her head off the turnbuckle.

Athena put Shirakawa’s hand into the turnbuckle and began kicking it repeatedly before sending her out of the ring with a baseball slide. She stomped Shirakawa’s hand against the barricade and charged her, but Shriakawa dodged it and Athena kicked the steel. Twice.

Athena hobbled after Shirakawa who sent her into the barricade before sliding back into the ring. Shirakawa dropkicked Athena’s knee and hit a sling blade for a two count. Athena tried a kick but Shirakawa turned it into a backbreaker.

Shirakawa wrapped Athena’s leg around the ring post, slamming it and then putting on a figure four. Starkz tried to intervene, allowing Athena to dive through the ropes, but Skirakawa dodged and Athena crashed into Starkz. Shirakawa used the distraction for a parkour splash. Athena caught her and threw her into the barricade.

Athena tossed Shirakawa back in the ring but as she was climbing in, Shirakawa grabbed her leg in a dragon screw then put on the figure four in the center of the ring. Athena clawed her way to the ropes breaking the hold.

Athena grabbed Shirakawa o hit her with a shining wizard. Athena popped back up though and hit a hard lariat onto Shirakawa, leaving them both on their backs in the ring. They started trading punches (and screams!) as they staggered to their feet, still trading blows.

Shirakawa kicked Athena’s knee, but Athena caught her and landed a pike driver right on her head. Athena hoisted Shirakawa onto her shoulders but Shirakawa turned it into a DDT for a two count. Shirakawa went up top and hit a slingblade, but only got a two count as well.

Shirakawa called for the Glamourous Driver, but Athena worked out of it and hit a skull expulsion. They rolled around the ring and Athena locked in a Koji clutch. Shirakawa hit her knee, forcing her to let go, but go caught by a superkick on the way up.

Athena went up top, looking for an O Face, but Shirakawa got to her feet and got her into an Electric Chair into a spin out flapjack. She then locked on another figure four in the center of the ring. Athena writhed in pain, trying to fight out of it. She rolled it over and reversed the figure four. Shirakawa reversed it back.

Finally, Athena got to the rope and broke the hold, clutching her knee while Starkz tried to energize her. Shirakawa went up top but Athena grabbed her ankle and punched her face. Athena hit a superplex and and tried a pop up powerbomb but Shirakawa hit a discus lariat.

Shirakawa nailed a glamourous driver, but Athena kicked out a two. Shirakawa tried a second driver, but Athena caught her and hit an armbar, complete with biting. Athena hit a straightjacket powerbomb and then went up top. She hit an O Face and got the pin 1-2-3! Athena retains the title and goes on to celebrate her 1000th day as champion.

Match Result: Athena defeated Mina Shirakawa

What a great and extremely long night of wrestling!

Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido will be in action on tonight’s show on HonorClub.

Bandido will take on Gringo Loco in a Proving Ground match where if the challenger can draw or defeat the champion, he earns a future title shot.

The legendary Mistico will team with Mascara Dorada in a CMLL showcase bout against Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.

In another CMLL showcase, Volador Jr., Magnus and Rugido battle Dark Order (John Silver, Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds).

In tag team action, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will team with Billie Starkz while the undefeated team of Satnam Singh & Jay Lethal will also be in action.

**********

Time for the most honoriffic Ring of Honor the ring has to offer! It’s ROH on Honorclub and it kicks off with a huge Proving Ground Match!

ROH World Title Proving Ground Match: Bandido [c] vs. Gringo Loco

Gringo Loco lost an ROH World Television Title Proving Ground match to Nick Wayne a couple of weeks ago, so by ROH logic that means he gets a chance to earn a chance to wrestle for the World Title. Don’t think about it too much. All you need to know is Bandido is low-key the most entertaining champion in wrestling right now and Loco is a fantastic worker. This should be great and if Loco loses, there’s always the Pure Title!

Loco tried for a lockup off the top, but Bandido responded with punches. He followed that up with a big headscissor and then Loco caught him on a charge and sent him to the outside. Loco dove after Bandido and threw him back in the ring for a two count.

Loco started thumping Bandido with big fists and a sit-out powerbomb. Loco tried a pop-up powerbomb next, but Bandido turned it into a hurricanrana. Bandido put Loco up on the top turnbuckle, but Loco shoved him off, and hit a split legged twisting moonsault that was *mwah, Chefs kiss.

Ian Riccaboni casually mentioned here that Bandido will face Herchicero for the ROH title at Death Before Dishonor. Neato.

Loco and Bandido found themselves on the top turnbuckle again and Loco hit a perfect reverse C4, but it only got a two count. Loco went back to the moonsault well, but Bandido dodged it and hit a crucifix driver, followed by a frog splash. The ref counted to three, dashing the hopes of Gringo Loco.

Match Result: Bandido defeated Gringo Loco

Fun opener!! I love Bandido and Gringo Loco, so seeing them square off was great. However, I think someone needs to start keeping track of when someone gets a Proving Ground shot. It’s a little weird to lose one and then get a better one.

Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (w/Karen Jarrett) vs GPA & Hunter Holdcraft

As if Singh needed a tag team partner and as if it needed to be someone as high-profile as Lethal. Sing could take on GPA and Holdcraft plus several of their friends a relatives without breaking a sweat. So we’ll see who does the heavy lifting here. Maybe Lethal is a genius and hit is how he gets paid to have a night “off.”

For some reason, Lethal started the match against Holdcraft. Why they wouldn’t send the 7-foot-8 (according to Riccaboni) guy in first is beyond me.

Anyway, Hodlcraft managed to get some offense in on Lethal, grinding his knee into the back of Lethals head along the second rope. GPA tagged in after that and they isolated Lethal in the corner. They beat him up a bit and then much to their chagrin, Singh was tagged in.

GPA and Holdcraft didn’t bother with tags after that and I kinda agree. What’s the point? Singh manhandled them, chopping each man to death before tossing him into the opposite corner. I think Lethal left to get a drink after Singh began chokeslamming Holdcraft at will.

Lethal popped in to hit a Lethal Injection on Hodlcraft. Singh Chokeslammed GPA and for everyone’s sake, GPA stayed down and Sing and Lethal took the match.

Match Result: Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (w/Karen Jarrett) defeated GPA & Hunter Holdcraft

I have no problem with big, dominant monsters, but honestly, there’s no one that can believably beat Singh, or a tag team he’s in. They need to come up with a creative edge for him, or he’s bound to run out of people to squash.

Missa Kate and Lanie Luck vs. Athena and Billie Starkz

ROH Forever Champion Athena has her eyes set on AEW’s top prize these days, so it’s nice that she’s gracing us with her presence this week. The unknown factor here is Starkz. Starks has spent the last few months loving being a minion, then being sad about being a minion, then being mad about being a minion, then… this. So maybe working together these two can remind themselves why they tag in the first place: Because they have to.

Starkz and Athena jumped their opponents off the Code of Honor, with Starks and Kate fighting in the ring and Athena throwing Luck into the barricades on the outside.

Athena climbed the ring and tagged in, bringing brutal shots to Kate. KAte shoved Athena into the corner, where Starkz got the blind tag. Luck put Starkz to the mat with a big boot and then a driver. Starkz hit a back breaker in retaliation and climbed the top turnbuckle. Luck beat her there though, and tried to hit a suplex, but Athena came in and pulled Luck off the ropes.

Starkz and Athena then put stereo submissions on Kate and Luck who tapped immediately.

Match Result: Athena and Billie Starkz defeated Missa Kate and Lanie Luck

Always nice to see those two, even if it is a squash. Starkz looked a little tired, but I don’t know if that was character work, or jet lag.

Los Depredadores (Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.) vs. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver)

I am so happy to see the Dark Order working against a team that isn’t the Frat House! Nothing against those uber-heels, but they’ve been done to death over the last few months and a fresh matchup is very needed.

Reynolds kicked things off against Rugido while Volador and Magnus casually chatted in the corner. The two locked up and Rugido got Reynolds with an arm drag that set him back a step. Reynolds charged Rugido, but Rugido dodged. Reynolds went up top for a crossbody and a two count.

Magnus tagged in a dropped Reynolds with a hard shoulder. But when he turned around, Uno had tagged in and hit a big headscissors. Rugido and Volador jumped in and the three triple teamed Uno, while Reynolds and Silver were… elsewhere?

They put Uno on the top rope and took turns trying to take his mask off, but settled for stomping him in a tree of woe position instead. Uno reversed a bog boot from Magnus into a neckbreaker and tagged in Silver, who burst into the match with a flurry of kicks and energy.

Silver tried a pin, but Volador and Rugido broke it up and sent him to the outside. Reynolds bought some time and Silver came back, setting Magnus up in the corner for some charges from Uno. Reynolds joined them and they went to finish off Magnus, but Volador pulled Silver out of the ring.

Magnus hit a huge butterfly suplex on Uno, followed by a splash from Rugido and Voloador made the pin to get the win, much to Uno’s dismay.

Match Result: Los Depredadores (Magnus, Rugido & Volador Jr.) defeated The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver)

Love the luchadores and love the Dark Order. More of each please!

-Backstage QT Marshall cut a promo on Paul Walter Hauser regarding the slowest feud in wrestling history. You see, QT threw a drink on Hauser about 6 months ago which was quite offensive as Hauser is famously sober. Then nothing happened for a long, long time. However, Hauser is apparently still mad about it. So, Marshall invited Hauser to Ring of Honor next week to straighten things out.

El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada & Mistico) vs Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

Christian and Johnson have been moping around ROH for the last few months acting like they are owed something. Thing is, they are both really, really good, but still feel the need to be cheats and all-around jerks. Mascara Dorada and Mistico are killer luchadores so maybe they can be ones to put a smile on the faces of Johnson and Christian?

The crowd gave Mistico a huge ovation as the luchadores made their way to the ring. They didn’t show it, but I’m sure Johnson and Blake were annoyed by it.

Christian started things off against Dorada, feigning a lock up in favor of a punch in the gut. The speed was on then as they both flew around the ring, dodging and wriggling out of each other’s holds. Dorada finally landed a Pele kick and Christian was on the mat.

Mistico tagged in, but Christian wanted none of that and brought in Johnson. Johnson got in Mistico’s face, but Mistico was able to stay out of his hands as he dodged elbows and holds until finally landing a hurricanrana on Johnson. Mistico walked the ropes and nailed a whirlwind armdrag before tagging in Dorada.

Christian joined the fray, but the luchadores sent both Johnson and Christian to the outside. When they climbed back in, they hit stereo back elbows, sending Christian and Johnson back out. Mistico and Dorada dove out after them, nailing both men.

Back in the ring, Johnson hung Dorada up on the ropes. Christian got a blind tag and hit a guillotine legdrop, seinging him to the outside. Christian followed and tossed Dorada into the barricade before sending him back into the ring.

Christian dragged Dorada into the corner where he and Johnson took terms stomping and chopping him. Dorada double backflipped out of trouble, opening up Mistico to enter and hit a springboard elbow on Christian.

Dorada went up top, but missed on the stomp. Christian knocked Mistico out of the ring and then he and Johnson connected to powerbomb Dorada. Johnson tagged Christian back in, climbing the ropes. Dorada climbed up with him and hit a superrana off the top, but Christian landed on his feet!

Dorada seemed stunned and Johnson and Christian beat him down until Mistico arrived and took out both men. All four lay in the ring with only Dorada moving. Dorada got to his feet, but Christian hit a superkick to put him right back down.

Johnson and Christian double teamed Dorada until he sent Christian to the outside and dove over the top rope to take him out. Mistico locked in La Mistica on Johnson in the ring and Johnson had no choice but to tap out.

Match Result: El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada & Mistico) defeat Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

Fun night of wresting and as ROH & AEW head out for a series of international shows, I’m looking forward to seeing who shows up and how crazy the crowds are!

World title match official for ROH Death Before Dishonor

The first official match for this month’s Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor has been made and it will feature the ROH World title being defended.

Announced on Monday, reigning champion Bandido will defend against Hechicero in a match that has been building for a several weeks through a series of multi-man tag team matches — one of which saw Hechicero pin the champion.

According to Cagematch, it will be their first ever singles clash.

Bandido has held the title for more than 120 days with four successful title defenses while Hechicero is looking for his first title held anywhere since June 2023 in CMLL.

The HonorClub streaming special takes place on Friday, August 29th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the former ECW Arena.

ROH Death Before Dishonor history

This year’s show will be the 22nd Death Before Dishonor in ROH history, dating back to 2003. Several of the events were split into two nights and sometimes in two different cities — a practice that ended in 2014.

This will be the fifth Death Before Dishonor in Philadelphia and the first since 2021 which was prior to Tony Khan owning the company.

Ring of Honor TV results: Bandido vs. Adam Priest World title match

Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido will put his title on the line against indie standout Adam Priest on tonight’s ROH on HonorClub from Chicago.

The champion will be looking for his fourth successful title defense while Priest has just one all-time career ROH victory.

The Conglomeration’s Tomohiro Ishii & Hologram will take on MxM Collection.

In a pair of men’s Pure Rules bouts, Blake Christian faces the returning Jimmy Jacobs in his first ROH bout since May 2024 while Virus faces Xelhua in a meeting of CMLL talent.

The show is rounded out by Gringo Loco vs. Jon Cruz.

**********

-Ian and Caprice start the show by running down what’s on the show, including Bandido vs Adam Priest for the ROH Title, which is your main event. Ian and Caprice are wearing their invisibility cloaks at ringside for this show.

The Conglomeration (NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Tomohiro Ishii & Hologram) vs. MxM Collection (w/ Johnny TV)

This was a very good opener. I would say all four men are criminally underused, but I couldn’t tell you who they should take off Dynamite and Collision every week to put them on.

We got a picture-in-picture with a MxM, Johnny and Taya commercial selling something called MxM Seed. It looked funny, but Ian and Caprice talked over it.

Ishii and Hologram ran wild on Mansoor early and did a double drop toehold to Mason when he tried to get involved and dropped Mason on top of his partner. MxM got the heat on Ishii when they bullied him into the corner and then TV yanked Hologram off the apron. Hologram got the hot tag and ran wild on MxM. The crowd got into Hologram’s comeback, including backflipping out of the ring and giving TV a headscissors takeover and a Suicide Dive out the other side of the ring to Mason. The expected 4-way broke out and Ishii gave Mason an assisted Brainbuster. Hologram pinned Mansoor with a 450 Splash.

Match Result: The Conglomeration defeated MxM Collection

-We got a video package recapping Athena vs Alex Windsor from Collision last week.

Gringo Loco vs. Jon Cruz

This was a match won by Gringo Loco. There’s nothing else to say about the actual wrestling.

Seeing Cruz coming out makes me want to see Nyla Rose give Serpentico through a table for some reason.

Cruz was upset that the fans cheered for Gringo and not him. It evolved into them standing on the ropes on opposite sides of the ring and trying to cheerlead the crowd. I mean if nothing else, the crowd got into it. There was nothing wrong with their actual wrestling, but it was a lot less newsworthy than them spending several minutes cheerleading the crowd. Loco won with a Split Legged Moonsault.

Of all the matches I’ve ever seen, this was the most recent one.

Match Result: Gringo Loco defeated Jon Cruz

Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson) vs. Jimmy Jacobs

This was a good match and the type of match they should be having on ROH where they bring in veterans who can still go, like Jacobs and work with these young guys. Not sure why Jacobs isn’t signed, I imagine he wouldn’t break the bank to do more than come in once a year, like he currently is.

Jacobs was one of the longest lasting ROH wrestlers, with him leaving ROH after Supercard of Honor IX in 2015, but has since come back to do one match a year the last few years. The last time he had an ROH match he had an insane pyro display. Remember that insane WCW Kevin Nash pyro display? This was the AEW version of that. Anyway, when Jacobs came out here, he looked for his pyro and, sadly, he had none.

Jacobs is the kind of guy TK should sign to be the ROH veteran to work with young talent. He still wrestles pretty frequently, even if we only see him once a year. Christian has the talent to be one of those “next generation” guys and hopefully he gets the chance to do so. Jacobs went for Sliced Bread, but Christian got out of it, hit a pair of superkicks and a rolling Spiccoli Driver for a near fall. Christian tapped him with Vanilla Choke Zero. After the match, Christian looked into the camera and challenged Bandido.

Match Result: Blake Christian submitted Jimmy Jacobs

-Paul Walter Hauser was on something called the No Contest Wrestling Podcast and was upset because at the Revolution Zero Hour show in March, QT Marshall threw something alcoholic on him. Paul was mad because he’s been sober for three years and now he wants a match with QT. Not sure why it took Paul 5 months to get upset about this, but here we are.

Xelhua vs. Virus in a Pure Rules match

I don’t watch a lot of ROH on Honor Club, but this was easily the best “modern day” pure match I’d ever seen. This was an excellent grappling match. Nothing you have to go out of your way to see, just a match I’d love to see a rematch of.

Virus began his pro wrestling career two weeks after WrestleMania 2 in 1986. I would like to imagine one had nothing to do with the other, however I cannot prove that. Meanwhile Xelhua is at the other extreme, as he is two years into his career. Xelhua used a double underhook submission that he turned into a pinning attempt. Virus used a reverse Figure Four and Xelhua grabbed the ropes five minutes into the match for his first rope break. Xelhua broke out a Cloverleaf Stretch, which was quite impressive, but Virus got the ropes. Virus used the Vertebreaker and Xelhua half kicked out/half got his foot on the rope, so it counted as a rope break. Virus submitted to the Shoelace submission.

Match Result: Xelhua submitted Virus

-They plugged Dustin Rhodes vs Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Title on Collision, which is happening as I type this. I won’t spoil it for you, mostly because I don’t know what happened. So go check out Jeff Moss’ Collision report.

ROH World Champion Bandido defends against Adam Priest

This was a really good World Title match to cap off a really good episode of Ring of Honor.

Priest came out with The Workhorsemen, but sent them to the back before the match began. Bandido has double duty tonight, as he teams with Brody King to take on GOA in the Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament on Collision. I actually know who won that match, but you should still go read Jeff Moss’ Collision report for more.

The Code of Honor was sort of adhered to, as Priest hit a forearm to Bandido to get the match started after the handshake. Bandido held Priest up for a delayed vertical suplex and even though he is tri-lingual (English, Spanish and Japanese), he let the crowd chant in whatever language they preferred. Priest hit a well timed dropkick to Bandido’s back as he came off the middle rope with a springboard move. The crowd chanted loudly for Bandido, proving that if you give these fans good stuff on ROH, they will react even if they’re there for Dynamite or Collision. Bandido rolled through on a Frog Splash attempt and took a backbreaker from Priest. Bandido had done the Eddie Guerrero shimmy, so Priest went for the Three Amigos, but Bandido reversed the third suplex and hit one of his own. Priest clipped the knee and slapped on a Half Crab, but Bandido got the ropes and then the champ retained with a Frog Splash.

Match Result: ROH World Champion Bandido defeated Adam Priest to retain the championship

Final Thoughts: I don’t watch a lot of ROH on HonorClub. I may have seen six or seven total episodes, including shows I saw live, but this was easily the best HonorClub show I’ve seen. There was nothing to go out of your way to see, but this was an easy hour to watch, it didn’t outstay its welcome and unlike a lot of modern-day wrestling, I was left wanting to see more.

AEW Collision live results: Bandido, JetSpeed & Mascara Dorada team up

Saturday’s All In aftermath edition of AEW Collision from Chicago will feature Bandido in the night’s featured bout.

The current ROH World Champion will team with CMLL’s Mascara Dorada and JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) against Josh Alexander, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero and Hechicero of the Don Callis Family.

With no interference, Megan Bayne will go one-on-one with Tay Melo in her first singles match since December 2022.

In a four-way $200,000 tag team match, it will be The Gunns vs. Gates of Agony vs. CRU vs. Big Bill & Bryan Keith.

New TNT Dustin Rhodes will be on hand to celebrate his title win as will Max Caster who will hold another Best Wrestler Alive challenge.

Ricochet will face AR Fox, and Rush will take on Katsuyori Shibata in a highly-anticipated match.

Following her re-debut of sorts at All In, Alex Windsor will return to AEW TV against Taya Valkyrie.

**********

Dustin Rhodes opened AEW Collision, saying that he wished his day was with him right now as he celebrated his win of the TNT Championship. Rhodes talked about how his dad always told him to keep stepping, getting up every time he is knocked down. It is hope that things can and will get better as you keep get back up. Rhodes said that he spent 37 years in the wrestling business, reaching the highest of heights, and hitting rock bottom, and he experienced a lot of failure. He said he was waiting to say this for 30 years: “I am now the face of TNT.” Rhodes promised that he would give his all week in and week out because he wanted to be a fighting champion, and that he will keep fighting into the future.

Don Callis came out with Kyle Fletcher, and Fletcher said that Rhodes’ story was crap, and the celebration that they were having tonight was supposed to be his. Fletcher was angry that his one-on-one title shot was ruined by Cole getting injured, and that Rhodes was lucky to win the title in a four way match. Fletcher said that he was going to take everything from Rhodes, and take his title.

Rhodes put Fletcher over as a great wrestler, and talked about his own times falling short at winning the title, from Lance Archer, to Sammy Guevara, to Christian Cage, and Brodie Lee, but Rhodes wrestled 3 times in 24-hours, and all Fletcher does is make excuses, while Rhodes pulled it off and Fletcher didn’t.

Don Callis calmed Fletcher down, and said that Rhodes was a legend, and that he has known him since 1997, going on the road together. He wanted Rhodes to think about what will happen when he loses the TNT Championship, and offered him a place in the Don Callis Family, as that was a better than being a 3rd wheel in the Rhodes family. At this, Rhodes attacked Callis. Fletcher attacked Rhodes, but Rhodes fought back and sent Fletcher to the floor, fleeing the ring. This segment was great, especially Dustin Rhodes.

–Mark Briscoe was narrating the recent actions of the Conglomeration, with Ishii, Willow Nightingale and her feud with Kris Statlander, and Briscoe, Hangman, and Hobbs standing tall over the Death Riders on Wednesday, with Briscoe leaving the last word for MJF, saying he was coming for him.

–A recap of Ricochet and AR Fox’s issues aired, with the announcers reminding us that Ricochet turned on Fox in their tag match, and how he recruited the Gates of Agony. This was a small story playing out on TV, which I like when wrestlers don’t necessarily have a PPV level feud in the works at the moment. It gives both of them something to do that is mildly interesting, and keeps them both on TV until something else comes.

Ricochet vs. AR Fox

Ricochet tried to bait Fox into fighting at ringside, but Fox refused to do so, dodging and countered Ricochet at every turn, hitting a tope con giro to the floor and going to ringside on his terms. The Gates of Agony came down at this point, stalking Fox. Ricochet distracted the referee letting Liona slam Fox on the apron as they went to ad break. When the came back from break, Fox managed to dodge a shoulder thrust from Ricochet and hit a top con giro, and a senton bomb for a 2-count.

Ricochet and Fox went into a series of near falls, ending with Ricochet powering into a Death Valley Driver, which popped the crowd. Fox kicking out led to Ricochet going for the Spirit Gun, but Fox dodged it, and Ricochet ended up draped on the middle rope near the turnbuckle. Fox used the ropes and launched himself into a Canadian Destroyer on Ricochet, pulling him from the middle ropes. That was incredible. Ricochet dodged a 450 Splash and Ricochet hit a Spirit Gun for the pinfall.

Result: Ricochet

This was a great match, but it would be nice for AR Fox to get some credibility by beating some lower card guys in the future. He is really good, and the fans clearly like him, so it is time for him to start winning.

–A recap of Hangman Page and Jon Moxley aired, and as Colt Cabana, Nigel McGuinness, and Tony Schiavone were discussing what happened, Marina Shafir emerged from the audience behind Cabana and started choking him unconscious. Moxley came out of nowhere and started punching Cabana in the face with a chain, busting him open. Yuta joined Moxley in the beat down. Moxley claimed he was only giving the fans what they wanted, and he choked Cabana with the chain, screaming that Cabana should tap out, and he threw Cabana over the ropes choking him out. Cabana tapped out, just like Moxley did at AEW All In, and then Moxley let go, and left through the crowd as the fans chanted “You tapped out!” at Moxley. Tony Schiavone noted that Cabana was very good friends with Hangman Page, and this couldn’t be interpreted as anything else but a message to him. This angle was awesome.

–Kris Statlander was with Lexy Nair, and she was talking about what happened at All In and her loss in the Casino Gauntlet. As she was talking, the Death Riders walked by, and Yuta, covered in Cabana’s blood, and said “Champions always make a comeback” before Marina Shafir pulled him away, and Statlander said that he was right. I loved this angle too. The Death Riders came across as very dangerous, yet very scummy, heels. Great storytelling in giving us a villain to boo.

Megan Bayne vs. Tay Melo

Everyone was banned at ringside for this, hopefully eliminating the Penelope Ford factor for Bayne in this match. Bayne dominated the opening portion of the match, but Melo countered a spear into a Fujiwara armbar, and transitioned into a triangle choke, but Bayne did a Rampage Jackson slam to counter out. Melo and Bayle shuffled for position at the ropes and Melo pulled Bayne to the floor with a head scissors. Bayne caught Melo as she jumped from the apron with a cross body and hit a fallaway slam on the floor.

As they came back from break, Melo hit a kick in the corner and several boot scrapes across the face of Bayne. Bayne stood up annoyed by it, hitting a belly-to-belly suplex. As Bayne did this, Tony Schiavone announced a match for Dynamite – Hangman Page vs. Wheeler Yuta because of what they did to Colt Cabana for Shark Week Dynamite. Poor Yuta is going to die. Melo locked on a guillotine choke, but Bayne fought out. Bayne went for Fate’s Descent, but Melo rolled out hit a running knee, and a Canadian Destroyer for a 2-count. Bayne responded with a flying lariat in the middle of the ring and hit a running Liger bomb for the finish.

Result: Megan Bayne

Nigel McGuinness had the call of the night that Melo was now a Marsh-melo.

–Don Callis walked up to Sky Flight, offering Scorpio Sky a place in the Don Callis Family. Christopher Daniels said that they were well represented, but they were looking for a fight, and if Callis was up for it, he could give the Callis Family a fight. Don Callis said he would think about it, which seems sinister.

–Alex Windsor cut a promo before the match, talking about taking Athena to the limit at Grand Slam Australia.

Alex Windsor vs. Taya Valkyrie (w/ mXm Collection & Johnny TV)

There wasn’t a lot to this match as they only got a few minutes, but it saw Windsor going for a sharpshooter, and Valkyrie reversing into a STF. Windsor hit a blue thunder bomb, a lariat, and then locked the sharpshooter on for Valkyrie for the win.

Result: Alex Windsor

–Athena appeared in the balcony that Toni Storm was in on Dynamite, and she mocked Toni Storm, and also dismissed Windsor, saying that her match with Windsor ended like all the others, with Athena winning. As Athena was making fun of Storm, Storm came out and said that no one was allowed to be in the balcony but her, and she dared Athena to fight her.

Athena refused, saying that she would fight her on her terms, as Storm had to face Billie Starks on Wednesday. Storm then said it was true that she was facing Starks, and that if Starks won, she would be granted a shot at Storm, which Athena did not like. Storm then ran into the crowd and ran up to the balcony, going after Athena, who ran away.

–Anthony Bowens was backstage with Lexy Nair, and he was talking about how he did not have success at All In. Billy Gunn walked up, and Bowens was confused, as Gunn said he would be there for him, but wasn’t at All In. Gunn said that Bowens has been confusing, saying he wanted him there, but didn’t want him there, and that they needed to get on the same page, and that Bowens needs to stop obsessing with Max Caster. At least they tried to fix that plot hole. Gunn said he had a match for Bowens next week, and all he needed to do was trust him.

Big Bill & Bryan Keith vs. Cru (Action Andretti & Lio Rush) vs. The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) vs. The Gunns (Austin & Colton Gunn) (w/ Juice Robinson) in a $200,000 Tag Match

Austin Gunn started the match with Andretti, and was quickly forced to tag out to Colton Gunn, as they were so much faster. Colton hit a double clothesline, forcing Cru to leave the ring, letting the Gates of Agony to come in. Bishop Kaun ate a dropkick and fell backwards into the corner and was blind tagged by Bryan Keith. Keith and Colton started an exchange, but Keith quickly tagged out to Bill, who got a huge reaction from the Chicago audience.

It didn’t take long for the match to break down into all 4 teams brawling as they went to the ad break. Colton Gunn was isolated in this by Cru, and they came back from the break with Lio Rush doing handsprings into people causing them to fall from the apron. Rush tried to knock Bill off the apron, but Bill shrugged off his chop and Rush shook his head, indicating it was a mistake. Colton Gunn tagged out to Bill out of desperation, who ran wild, destroying everyone in the ring and hitting a black hole slam on Rush.

Colton Gunn tagged in, interrupting Bill’s rampage, but Bill launched him into the air and hit a punch. Colton Gunn went down holding his knee, which did not look good. I think this is where his injury happened. Bill ran around ringside dropping everyone, but as he was running in front of the announce table, Toa Liona came out of nowhere and hit a pounce that sent Bill flying through the air and over the announce table, causing Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone to run away. Ricochet came out and grabbed the leg of Austin Gunn, allowing the Gates of Agony to destroy Andretti for the win.

Result: The Gates of Agony

While Ricochet still hasn’t won one of these money matches, his crew finally did, with his help.

–A recap of the Patriarchy turning on Christian Cage aired, with Adam Copeland clarifying that he was not saving Christian, but getting revenge on FTR, and Nick Wayne giving his reasons for the turn, saying that Christian never stuck with the plan.

Kyle O’Reilly (w/ Roderick Strong) vs. Max Caster

Kyle O’Reilly answered Caster’s challenge this week. Caster claimed that O’Reilly could not win the match if he couldn’t catch him, so Caster ran around the ring on the outside. Well, O’Reilly could win by allowing a count out, but that did not occur to either of them, and Strong tripped Caster, allowing O’Reilly to catch him. Caster tried to hit O’Reilly with his trademark for the Best Wrestler Alive gimmick, but O’Reilly kicked it away. Caster raked the eyes of O’Reilly, but O’Reilly turned a sunset flip into an armbar and Caster immediately tapped out.

Result: Kyle O’Reilly

–We were shown Tomohiro Ishii and Hologram watching backstage, and they were looking at the TV like normal human beings! A positive.

–Juice Robinson was backstage and he talked about Ricochet, wanting revenge for what he did in the 4-way tag match. Big Bill walked in, and said that Robinson was getting in his business during the match, and they started fighting, with Robinson driving Bill into the lockers behind him, almost knocking them over, before a bunch of referees and agents separated them.

Rush (w/Dralistico, & The Beast Mortos) vs. Kaysuyori Shibata

Shibata and Rush started the match exchanging hard strikes with very hard chops that delighted the fans. This continued for the first 2 or 3 minutes, as they kept returning to chops until Rush finally hit a punch that dropped Shibata and they went to the floor. As Rush sent Shibata back into the ring, Shibata stood up and hit a running kick that sent Rush to the floor. Shibata grabbed Rush by the hair and rain around the ringside area, driving Rush into the guardrails repeatedly.

Shibata locked a figure four leglock on Rush back in the ring. Shibata hit a dropkick in the corner on Rush as they came back from break, getting a two-count. Shibata went for a vertical suplex, but Rush countered into his own, hitting two suplexes, and then Shibata countering and hitting one. Both men went back and forth on the suplexes until Shibata hit the last one, and they were both down. Rush kicked out at one, but ate a German suplex. Rush stood back up and hit one on Shibata, and they started exchanging German suplexes like the vertical.

Rush hit a headbutt on Shibata, but Shibata hit a hard chop and locked on a sleeper hold in the middle of the ring, but Dralistico & Mortos ran in, but Shibata dispatched them. The referee did not end the match for some reason, as Nigel McGuinness claimed that LFI must have paid off the referee. Rush hit the Horns in the corner on Shibata for the win.

Result: Rush

Listen, I know people will say that the reason Rush wasn’t DQ’d was because they didn’t actually touch Shibata, but it was still right in front of the referee. This was no good. It does not make sense. The match itself was quiet great, but that finish was a mess.

–LFI attacked after the bell, indicating that they wanted the Trios titles. Powerhouse Hobbs ran down to make the save. It seems we’re setting up a match for later once Joe returns.

The Don Callis Family (Hechicero, Rocky Romero, Josh Alexander, & Lance Archer) vs. JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey), Mascara Dorada, Bandido

Bandido and Hechicero started the match, with Bandido eager to get revenge for his loss as Hechicero eyes the ROH World Championship. Bandido rolled to the floor and Dorada hit a headscissors after a tilt-a-whirl from Hechicero. Dorada tried to hit a handspring, but Lance Archer was the one who was on the other end of it, and this quickly stopped that. The speed of the babyfaces still had an advantage, with it taking a triple dropkick from Dorada, Bailey, and Knight to drop Archer. Dorada, Bailey, and Knight all hit planchas to the floor on the heels as the party match continued.

Josh Alexander hit a reverse suplex on Mike Bailey as they went to the final ad break. Hechicero came in and locked on a series of violent submissions on Bailey, as they continued to isolate him for the heat. Tony Schiavone announced that there was good news though, as Don Callis was not at ringside. His hatred for the heels makes up for the occasional missed call. I love Tony Schiavone. As they came back from break, Bandido tagged in and hit a gorilla press on Alexander.

Rocky Romero hit a knee to the back of Bandido, allowing Alexander to tag out and Hechicero came in and swarmed Bandido immediately, hitting a flying knee in the corner and a went for a running powerbomb, but Bandido countered into a sunset flip bomb to tag out to Dorada. Dorada countered a chokeslam from Archer, who worked as a wonderful base for Dorada’s offence.

Archer went for the Black Out, but the Callis Family broke it up. Rockey Romero was launched off the shoulders of Archer onto Dorada which set of a series of big moves from everyone until Archer took out Bailey, Bandido, and Knight all at the same time. Archer clotheslined Knight into the ring from the apron, but Knight landed on his feet and hit a dropkick and Knight hit an assisted Asai Moonsault to Archer that finally dropped him. Romero almost finished Dorada with a sliced bread, but the the babyfaces made the save, and as Bailey and Knight hit dives onto everyone on the floor, Bandido hit the 21-plex on Romero allowing Dorada to hit the shooting star press on Romero for the win.

Result: Bandido, Mascara Dorada, & JetSpeed

Final Thoughts

I really like how Collision has been advancing the midcard stories on Collision lately. It is clear the show is not the A show, but having the midcard stories built on this show and given time makes them feel more important, and that also gives Collision a distinct purpose – it doesn’t always advance the A-show stories, but it will always advance the stories of several of the midcard wrestlers. The angle with the Death Riders and Cabana was tremendous though, and definitely plays into one of the A level stories with Hangman and Moxley.

Gabe Kidd G1 Climax 2025

— No WOR with Garrett Gonzales today as due to family history, one day every year, I get tested for pancreatic cancer and today was that day (clean bill of health). We’ll be doing our usual show tomorrow night instead after UFC 318.

— I was very sorry to hear about the plight of Marcus Bagwell. Hopefully, he can live the best life possible with the least pain possible.

— Bandido has had a hell of a career in the last 33 days:

  • Four match of the year candidates
  • Two straight Arena Mexico sellouts
  • Fastest sellout at Arena Coliseo anyone can remember
  • Multiple other excellent matches

Keep in mind he did this without being part of the G1 tournament. I can’t think of anyone else who has had this many matches at that level in such a short period of time unless it was the top guys in G1.

— Speaking of the G1 Climax, it opens at 4 AM Eastern time tomorrow morning from Sapporo:

A block:

  • Evil vs. Callum Newman
  • Oleg Boltin vs. Yuya Uemura
  • David Finlay vs. Ryohei Oiwa
  • Yota Tsuji vs. Sanada
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi vs.  Taichi

B block

  • Shingo Takagi vs. Yoshi-Hashi
  • Great O’Khan vs. Drilla Moloney
  • Shota Umino vs.  El Phantasmo
  • Gabe Kidd vs. Konosuke Takeshita
  • Zack Sabre Jr.  vs.  Ren Narita

Late tomorrow night at 10 PM Pacific and 1 AM Eastern is the second G1 show of the weekend.

— Diego Sanchez, the UFC fighter who Bryan Danielson copied the “Yes” chants from, was arrested at about midnight last night in Albuquerque, NM, for shooting at or from a motor vehicle and negligent use of a deadly weapon. The police report stated that Sanchez was leaning out of a car window that he was a passenger in and fired a shot into the air while passing by a crash. Police followed the vehicle. Sanchez denied firing the shot, but the driver of the car told police that Sanchez fired the shot. Ricky Kottenstette, a rep for Sanchez, told MMA Fighting that Sanchez has been struggling with substance abuse issues in recent years and has been to rehab a few times. There was an excellent episode of Dark Side of the Cage on Sanchez earlier this year.

— SmackDown tonight is from San Antonio TX. There will be a John Cena vs. Cody  Rhodes contract signing pus Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. DIY vs. Fraxiom for a tag title shot, Charlotte Flair vs. Raquel Rodriguez (Based on this, it would seem to build Flair & Bliss vs. Rodriguez & Perez), Stephanie Vaquer vs. Alba Fyre and Jacob Fatu to appear. The show will be sold out as the last I saw they had 14,731 tickets out.

— TNA Slammiversary on Sunday is up to 5,492 tickets out after the announcement that AJ Styles would be appearing at the show at the UBS Arena in Belmont, NY. The PPV is headlined by Trick Williams vs. Mike Santana vs. Joe Hendry for the TNA title.

— The first season of Peacemaker, starring John Cena, is premiering tonight on TNT at 10 p.m. Eastern after its initial run on Max. The second season will be on Max this August.

— There will be a monument dedicated to former Olympic wrestler, pro wrestling world champion and later promoted Edward George, better known as Ed Don George. It takes place on Sunday in his hometown of North Java, NY. The monument will also honor several veterans from the city. (thanks to Dan Murphy)

— In the note in the current issue about merch sales for AEW All in Texas, it should be noted that they sold out of almost all merch early in the show.

— We’re looking for reports on these weekend shows:

  • SmackDown tonight in San Antonio (matches not on the live TV show)
  • NXT in Sebring, FL
  • WWE house show tomorrow night in Corpus Christi, TX
  • NXT tomorrow night in Tampa, FL
  • WWE house show tomorrow night in Edinburg, TX

We’re looking for results, finishes, angles and highlights to [email protected]

We’re doing polls this weekend for the first night of G-1 in Sapporo and TNA Slammiversary, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match for each show to [email protected]

— Arena Mexico tonight has the Leyenda de Plata Cibernetico. It’s an elimination match with Mascara Dorada, Titan, Templario, Angel de Oro, Neon, Max Star, Capitan Suicida and Explosivo. It’ll probably be great. It goes until two men are left and they will headline the show on 7/25. Keep in mind 7/25 goes head-to-head with AAA at Juan de la Barrera Gym in Mexico City.

— Saturday night’s show at Arena Coliseo with Mistico & Bandido vs. Mortos & Voador Jr. and Averno vs. Ulltimo Guerrero sold out yesterday. Mexico City has always been a walk-up market except for the biggest shows at  Arena Mexico or TripleMania type of shows. I’ve been covering it closely for close to 40 years and never recall an advanced sellout like this.

— UFC 318 is tomorrow from New Orleans with the Dustin Poirier retirement show.

— Sean Strickland was suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for running into a cage at a regional show and attacking a fighter during a show in June. The length of the suspension is to be determined but if he is suspended in Nevada, he can’t fight anywhere in the U.S. because states all adhere to these suspensions. UFC would not book a suspended fighter outside the U.S. either. This took place when Luis Hernandez finished Miles Hunsinger, a teammate of Strickland’s, with a guillotine. Hernandez started taunting Hunsinger and Strickland and Chris Curtis, another UFC fighter who was in the corner, ran into the cage. Strickland threw several punches at Hernandez before security broke them up.

— WWE Vault uploaded a never before released match from the Poffo collection on March 24, 1985, where Randy Savage wrestled Jerry Lawler in Cape Girardeau, MO.

ROH Supercard of Honor live results: Bandido vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Ring of Honor kicks off a busy weekend in pro wrestling with tonight’s Supercard of Honor from the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

In the headliner, ROH World Champion Bandido defends against former AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita. The two have shared the ring frequently this, but this will be their first singles match since June 2023.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will look to keep her 944-day reign going as she defends against former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will defend against the legendary Blue Panther of CMLL fame.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) will defend against The Infantry’s Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo).

ROH Men’s TV Champion Nick Wayne will defend against CMLL’s Titan while an interim Women’s TV Champion will be crowned with two yet-to be-named competitors.

Rounding out the show is Dark Order vs. The Frat House in a trios bout.

**********

Here we go folks! The event Ring of Honor has spent hours building towards is finally upon us! Supercard of Honor kicks off with a Zero Hour, featuring a couple of fun matches, lots of video recaps and who knows what else!

Zero Hour: Blake Christian vs Jay Lethal

See what I mean? No one knew that Christian and Lethal were going to kick things off! Chaos Theory!

And kick they did, with Christian getting the drop on Lethal off the top and doing a little strutting. Lethal went for a dive at Christian, but he dodged it and Lethal few out of the ring, colliding with Lee Johnson who had followed Christian to ringside.

Christian’s swagger was on full display as every time Lethal tried to pull something out of his bag of tricks, Christian was there and ready to counter. Christian also has a tight new haircut, which deserved to be noted.

Christian was the clear standout of the match, at one point doing a strut along the top rope, hitting a running Spanish Fly and even attempting a Lethal Injection on Lethal. For his part, Lethal worked Christian’s knee and brought his strength, looking like he has everything planned, even when it went awry.

In the end, Christian locked in a Vanilla Choke Zero out of a moonwalk, forcing Lethal to tap out.

Match Result: Blake Christian defeated Jay Lethal

I’ll say this: these guys had the loudest superkicks I’ve ever heard. They both showed off what makes them great though, so fun match to start off the night!

Zero Hour: The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Evil Uno) vs. The Frat House (Griff Garrison, Preston Vance, Cole Karter) w/Jakked Jameson and The Pledges

So the Frat House and the Dark Order hate each other. Be it because of Preston Vance’s time in both groups, or the eternal struggle between geeks and jocks, these groups are destined to fight forever. A couple of weeks ago, the Dark Order stiffed the Frat House on a bar bill and on last week’s ROH on Honorclub, the Dark Order dispatched a few unnamed pledges before announcing that this match was on for Supercard. Or Zero Hour, as it were.

Blake Christian’s haircut stopped being the story of the night as soon as a SHIRTLESS Evil Uno appeared on the ramp. Immediately, a brawl broke out with the Frat House sending their pledges up to get the Order. The Order quickly dispatched the pledges and turned their fury to the Frat House Proper.

The crowed chanted “Frat House Sucks!” as the match formally got underway with Karter isolating Reynolds in the Frat Corner. He and Garrison tagged in and out, double teaming him. The thing about these matches is that the Frat House cheats so much, its hard to tell what’s going on as there’s always someone grabbing an ankle or getting a cheap shot in.

Reynolds tried for a hot tag about a dozen times, but Garrison and Karter blocked him. When he finally got one to Uno, he exploded into the ring, taking out Karter and Garrison with huge chops in the corner and a double DDT to boot. Vance got involved then and triple teamed Uno with Garrison and Karter. It got a two count.

Uno battled back caught Garrison’s foot in a kick attempt. He passed the foot to the ref and then delivered a neckbreaker to Garrison. Silver tagged in and showed zero ring rust in his first match in months. He single handedly took out all of the Frat House, leaving Garrison prone for a triple team and would have been a three-count, but Jameson pulled the ref out.

While Jameson was arguing with the Ref, Vance brought in the pledge paddle and knocked out all of the order. Suddenly, Dark Order music played and who should arrive? Negative Uno! Vance was distracted and the Dark Order spammed finishers on him, ending with a huge clothesline from Uno (the Evil one). That got the pin and the win for the Dark Order.

Match Result: The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Evil Uno) defeated The Frat House (Griff Garrison, Preston Vance, Cole Karter)

A lot of fun with a great callback bringing in Negative Uno. The Dark Order should be in line for a Trios title shot sometime soon.

-Suddenly, MxMxTV arrived at the top of the ramp. Taya Valkyrie grabbed a mic and said that they had a “life changing” announcement. That turned out to be a new scent from MxMxTV called, inappropriately enough, “SEED.” So, that happened.

Zero Hour: Diamante vs. Lady Frost

Hey! Look! It’s Diamante and Lady Frost! I like them when they wrestle, so let’s watch them wrestle.

Lady Frost came our in fire-themed gear, which was a little confusing. Diamante made her way to the ring in terrifying fashion, eyes narrow and jaw clenched. Code of Honor was adhered to and then the punching began. Two very hard hitters, hitting very hard.

Diamante took the lead, slamming Frost into the corner and stomping her. She didn’t let up from there, throwing Frost from post to post, not letting her get to her feet. Frost tried to turn the tables with a sneaky dropkick, but Diamante saw it coming and avoided it.

Frost managed to get a twisting crossbody in and that slowed the pace down a bit. She tried to hoist Diamante up, but her core (?) gave out and Frost sank to her knees, giving Diamante the opening to regain control.

Diamante hit a twisting DDT on Frost from the top rope and that was in. 1-2-3, Diamante gets the win.

Match Result: Diamante defeated Lady Frost

Nice to see Diamante back in the ring. She and Frost put on a great, if one-sided affair.

Zero Hour: The Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross) vs The Premier Athletes (Aira Daivari and Tony Nese) w/Mark Sterling

The final (I assume) match of the Zero Hour pre-show featured the OTHER sons of Texas, the Von Erichs taking on The Premier Athletes. Guess who the crowd was cheering for?

Marshall and Nese kicked things off with Marshall getting the better of the smaller Nese. A quick tag to Ross and the brothers double teamed Nese until the Ref broke it up. Daivari came in and Ross locked him up in a headlock, until Nese returned on a blind tag.

The two teams fought back and forth, neither one getting the upper hand for long. The Von Erichs were able to match the Athletes step for step and even Sterling’s interference didn’t really change the momentum much.

Daivari tried to hit a Carpet Ride from the top rope, but Ross dodged it and got a hot tag to Marshall who cleaned house. The Athletes fought back and Daivari grabbed an actual carpet to nail Marshall with a second Carpet Ride.

In the end, Marshall hit Nese with a pop up spinebuster followed by a moonsault. Sterling tried to get involved, but Ross cut him off and Marshall pinned Nese to get the victory.

Match Result: The Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross) defeated The Premier Athletes (Aira Daivari and Tony Nese)

After the match, The Infantry and STP trash talked us into the beginning of Supercard of Honor 2025!

Hechicero vs. Michael Oku

Kicking things off was a match that was announced just hours before showtime. Former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero takes on current RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Oku in a match that I guess Tony Khan really wanted to see. I mean, I do too, but there’s no story here. Just good ol’ fashioned wrasslin’.

Hechicero seemed to have the strength advantage, but Oku’s speed and agility offset any upper hand. Oku managed to overpower Hechicero at times, but it was Oku’s spaghetti limbs that were the real issue. Every time Hechicero put Oku down, Oku would wrap him up in a submission.

Hechicero at one point threw Oku into the air and then caught him in a chinlock, flipping him over into a shoulder-breaker. Oku looked hurt but Hechicero would not let up, hitting a spinning backbreaker. Oku kept his head above water with some high dropkicks and maneuvers that seemed to hurt his back more than they did Hechicero.

Oku finally got some momentum on his side, laying out Hechicero with some brutal forearms. Oku dropkicked Hechicero to the outside and backflipped over the top rope onto him. He threw Hechicero back into the ring and hit a big splash, but it only got a two count.

Oku tried a springboard from the top rope, but Hechicero got his knees up and locked in an armbar. Oku reversed it and put Hechicero into Boston Crab, forcing him to grab the ropes. The two rolled around on the mat until Hechicero got an ankle lock on Oku. He followed that up with a flying headscissor and that was it, Hechicero gets the pin.

Match Result: Hechicero defeated Michael Oku

Great opener! Fast and exciting. Ring of Honor rarely lacks in the in-ring action portion of wrestling and this was a picture perfect example of skill level on their roster.

$50k four-way: Atlantis Jr. vs. Lee Johnson vs. Adam Priest vs. AR Fox

How come I was never offered $50k to recap matches against three other writers? I think that would be high-level entertainment. Any ways, in this “someone gets a bonus” match Atlantis Jr, fresh off teaming with his Dad on ROH on Honorclub takes on another victor from last night’s episode in Priest (he beat Aaron Solo). Rounding out the field are Johnson and Fox. Fox has been looking good in recent weeks and when we last saw Johnson, he was casually strolling to the ring to distract Bandido so Blake Christian could attack him. Christian also accompanied Johnson to the ring here, mainly to show off the previously mentioned haircut.

The bell rang and Priest took it to everyone. Fox fought back and he and Priest toussled on the outside while Atlantis and Johnson went at it in the ring. Fox could have a five star match with a bucket of water, so putting him in the ring with someone as good as Atlantis is a sure-fire road to an excellent match.

All four men ended up on the outside and Fox ran UP the ring post to flip onto Priest. They battled inside the ring until Atlantis joined them, followed by Johnson (though, Coleman kept calling him Lee Moriarty). Atlantis then hit a slingblade DDT on Priest with an assist from Johnson.

Priest poked the eyes of Johnson, but then Atlantis took him out with a big dive. Fox popped back up in time to get thrown to the outside by Johnson who dragged him back into the ring. Fox kicked him in the head for his trouble and all four brawled in the ring.

No one had time to recover from anything in this match. As soon as they got a big move in on one competitor, another was right there with a big move of their own. There also were virtually no alliances or team ups as you sometimes see in these matches. Each man was in it for themselves.

Johnson got the first near fall and Priest nearly stole the match, attempting to pin Fox after splashes from Atlantis and Johnson in succession.

To wrap it up, Fox hit an around the world slam on Priest and managed to sit on him to get the pin and the $50k!

Match Result: AR Fox defeated Atlantis Jr, Lee Johnson and Adam Priest

Really fast-paced match that had absolutely no breathing room for the audience! Everyone got a chance to shine and I’m really liking Adam Priest these days. It was great to see AR Fox get the win though. He’s such a workhorse and I really hope the $50K wasn’t just a gimmick. He deserves a raise!

ROH Pure Title Match: Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Blue Panther

Another match from the fallout of ROH Global Wars Mexico. Moriarty fanboyed out at taking on Blue Panther, but a post-match schmozz with the rest of Shane Taylor Promotions led to a Brian Danielson cameo and the re-match here. I feel the need to once again point out that Panther’s career started in 1978 (we think), which is two years before I was even born.

So to sum up the Pure Rules: three rope breaks, no closed fists (one warning), no outside interference, the title can change hands on a countout. It was also mentioned that this is Moriarty’s 350th day as champ, tying Nigel McGuinness with the longest Pure Title reign.

The two locked up off the top and immediately went to wrist and ankle holds. Panther tried to get Moriarty up in a Surfboard, but Moriarty wiggled free. Panther was on him before he could lock in a hold though.

Panther whipped Moriarty into the corner, but he bounced back. Panther hit him with a Palanka hold, forcing Moriarty to use his first rope break at 2:32. Moriarty responded with a series of ankle twists, but Panther didn’t bit and manged to get Moriarty up on his shoulders for an attempted Gory Special. Moriarty fought out of it though and put Panther in an abdominal stretch.

Moriarty then turned up the speed and wrapped up Panther, forcing him to use his first rope break at 5:02. They reset here and Moriarty put a headlock on Panther. He then punched him in the face, getting a warning for a closed fist.

Panther used the moment to lock in a figure four, but at 6:26, Moriarty used his second rope break to break the hold. From here the chops flew, with both men exchanging hard blows, Panther getting the upper hand with a big lariat.

Moriarty hit a springboard forearm and then wrapped Panther in a wrenching top wristlock. At 8:18, Panther made it to the ropes and used his second rope break. Panther stepped outside for a breather and Moriarty dove on him through the ropes, twice.

Panther got back into the ring and Moriarty put an Octopus hold on him in the middle of the ring, followed by a Border City Stretch. Panther would not tap out thoughand writhed his way to the ropes to use his final rope break at 10:25.

Panther got his second wind and delivered a string of clotheslines to Moriarty. Panther then dove onto him on the outside. Tossing Moriarty back in the ring, Panther bonked Moriarty’s head off the turnbuckle, but took too long to climb the post. Moriarty superplexed Panther into the middle of the ring, but only a two count.

Moriarty put Panther in an ankle lock. Panther grabbed the ropes, but his breaks were exhausted. Moriarty transitioned into a Border City Stretch and that was it. Panther tapped out and Moriarty becomes the longest-reigning Pure Champion of all time.

Match Result: Lee Moriarty (c) defeated Blue Panther

I love the Pure division and this match was why. Both competitors fought hard and the outcome wasn’t a foregone conclusion. Panther kept up with the MUCH younger Moriarty and it was a great match from bell to bell.

ROH World Tag Team Title Match: The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) (c) vs. The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

In spite of a myriad of deserving teams in ROH, a couple weeks ago on Ring of Honor on Honorclub, The Infantry beat Top Flight to become the #1 contender to the tag team titles. Rhodes and Guevara, the Sons of Texas, have held the titles for almost a full year, so it will be interesting to see if they survive the Infantry, or if this is the beginning of Shane Taylor Promotions collecting all the gold in ROH.

In a turn, Rhodes and Guevara jumped the Infantry off the bell. Rhodes and Guevara set up Dean and Bravo in the corners for some Shattered Dreams, but Trish Adora got in the middle allowing Bravo to get the drop on Rhodes. Guevara sent Dean and Bravo to the outside where he and Rhodes did a double dive on them then danced in the ring. Like you do.

Guevara and Bravo battled in the ring as the match settled down. Bravo distracted the Ref, allowing Dean to smash Guevara onto the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!). Bravo followed it up with a high knee and the Infantry double teamed Guevara on the outside, driving him face-first into the post.

That was enough for Rhodes who stalked around the corner but was stopped by the ref for some reason. Bravo sent Guevara back into the ring and he and Dean tagged in and out, beating on an isolated Guevara.

Guevara finally got the hottest of tags to Rhodes who leapt in, but the ref didn’t see it. Guevara was returned to the ring to continue receiving a beating from the Infantry. Eventually, Bravo telegraphed a move and Guevara knocked him down, getting a real tag to Rhodes.

Rhodes cleaned house, playing all his greatest hits for the crowd. Grabbing Dean, he hit a CrossRhodes, but Bravo broke up the pin. Guevara took Bravo to the outside while Rhodes set up Dean in the corner for some Shattered Dreams.

Suddenly, Shane Taylor appeared and hit Rhodes with a title belt behind the refs back, knocking him cold. Guevara took out Taylor, but Dean rolled over Rhodes for a cover. 1-2-and Guevara broke it up!

Dean sent Rhodes to the ropes, but Rhodes came back with a Texas Destroyer. Bravo and Guevara got tags and Guevara hit a springboard cutter on Bravo. Dean caught a superkick and Rhodes hit him with a suplex. Guevara hit a moonsault from the top rope and got the pin to retain the titles for the Sons of Texas!

Match Result: The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) (c) defeated The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)

After the match, Shane Taylor jumped in and he and the Infantry beat down Rhodes and Guevara. Moriarty joined them and so did Anthony Agogo! Agogo was winding up to punch Rhodes’ lights out, when the Von Erichs arrived with chairs to clear the ring.

Rhodes grabbed a mic and challenged STP to a “shootout” at All In tomorrow. No idea what that means, but Tony Khan made it official within seconds: Guevara, Rhodes and the Von Erichs vs Shane Taylor Promotions at All In.

Fantastic match from 4 guys at the top of their game. My plans for an STP take over were derailed, but I loved the match. I wish they were doing the bigger match on ROH tv, but it’ll be great none the less.

ROH World Television Title Match: Nick Wayne (c) vs. Titan

At ROH Global Wars Mexico a couple of weeks ago, Titan managed to last to a ten-minute draw in a Proving Ground match against Wayne. Though it kinda didn’t seem like either one of them knew the rules. Titan holds a win over Wayne in Japan so we’ll see if he can take a belt from him in this, their third meeting.

Titan offered his hand for a Code of Honor, but Wayne flipped him off instead. That brought Titan out swinging with a big dropkick off the bell. Wayne returned the favour though with some hard strikes. He then wrenched Titan’s knee through the ropes, sending him to the outside.

Wayne whipped Titan into the barricades then posed. Titan got to his feet, but limped back into the ring. Wayne went to work on Titan’s knee, hitting it with stomps and elbows. Titan grabbed a rope to escape and lay on the mat clutching his knee.

Wayne then tried to take off Titan’s mask, which infuriated the crowd. Wayne mugged for them, while Titan struggled to recover. Wayne locked in a figure four but Titan found a rope to break the hold. Wayne returned to Titan’s knee, hyper extending it.

Titan found some energy though and fought Wayne to the outside. He dove through the ropes, knocking Wayne over, but wrenching his knee even more. Wayne made his way back into the ring and the two fought on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) until Titan fed Wayne a superkick.

Titan hit a double stomp from the top rope onto Wayne, but hurting his knee even more in the process. He yelled in pain and hopped around on one foot, trying to recover.

Back in the ring, Wayne locked in a figure four in the center of the ring as Titan howled in pain. Wayne wrenched harder and harder, but Titan found a rope to break the hold.

The two started trading chops in the center of the ring and managed to knock each other down with simultaneous kicks. Titan exploded out of the corner though and delivered a springboard DDT to daze Wayne. Titan tried a third double stomp from the top rope, but during the pin Mother Wayne put her son’s foot on the ropes. The ref ejected her from ringside as a result.

Titan grabbed Wayne a locked in a bridged grapevine and straightjacket. Wayne fought towards the ropes, finally grabbing one, forcing Titan to release him. Titan went up to the top turnbuckle, but Wayne knocked him down. The two traded forearms at the ringpost until Titan gave Wayne a headbutt sending him into the ring. Titan stood up and suddenly Kip Sabian arrived and pulled Titan down.

Wayne popped up and hit a Waynes World, but Titan kicked out! Wayne followed up with a brain buster and that was too much. Titan was out and Wayne got the pin to retain the ROH Television Title.

Match Result: Nick Wayne (c) defeated Titan

After the match, who should come down to the ring? Proud Papa Christian! He gave his son a big hug in the ring and the Patriarchy celebrated.

Hot damn! Either Titan blew out his knee, or he did a masterful job selling Wayne’s offense. Wayne for his part wrestled a perfect match, using his opponent’s weakness against him. Hell of a match.

-Backstage, ROH Women’s Television Champion Red Velvet was interviewed. She expressed her frustration at being injured and said that she would be coming for the “interim” Champion when she was cleared. Also that she would be watching the 4-way match from ringside.

Worldwide Wild Card four-way for interim ROH Women’s TV Championship: Persephone vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Miyu Yamashita vs. Yuka Sakazaki

Just shy of a year into her reign as ROH Women’s TV Champion, Red Velvet has apparently suffered an injury that prevents her from competing at Supercard. Instead of stripping her of the belt, the Powers That Be have decided to crown an interim Champion until Velvet can return. The four women in this match are each a viable contender, but Persephone and Shirakawa are the definite standouts.

Off the top, the Joshi girls all exchanged Codes of Honor, but Persephone was having none of it. Persephone stepped out of the ring as the bell rang, happy to let her opponents wear themselves down. Persephone was giving off a new, more heelish vibe.

Sakazake sent Yamashita out of the ring, which brought Persephone back into it. She took out Sakazake and Shirakawa and Persephone went at it with a series of rolls and holds. Persephone used her size advantage to send Shirakawa into the corner as Sakazaki returned. Yamashita followed suit and Shirakawa was tossed to the outside.

As the four battled on the outside, Persephone took down Shirakawa and Yamashita. That allowed Sakazaki to hit her with a headscissors and then drag Yamashita into the ring for a pin attempt. Sakazake and Yamashita battled in the ring, trading kicks and holds until they were both knocked to the mat.

Shirakawa climbed back in to try and steal a pin, but it was nothing but two counts all around. Sakazaki and Yamashita then double teamed her until Shirakawa delivered a kneebreaker and a DDT at the same time!

As they rolled out, Persephone rejoined the fray, slamming Shirakawa and going for a cocky cover. Persephone began overpowering Shirakawa who managed to stop her in her tracks with a slingblade. Shirakawa climbed up top and hit another slingblade from the top rope. Only a two count though.

Persephone began punching Shirakawa, leaving herself open for Yamashita to kick her in the face. Yamashita and Persephone fought, bringing some strong style to the match. Yamashita peppered her with kicks and strikes before slamming her, but Shirakawa broke up the cover.

Sakazaki hit a hammerlock slam on Yamashita and Shirakawa locked a figure four on Yamashita. Sakazaki hit a Magic Girl Splash on Yamashita, breaking up the hold. Then she got caught by Persephone on the ring apron (the joshiest part of the ring!).

In the ring, Shirakawa hit a dragon screw on Yamashita and then a bridged figure four. Yamashita had no choice but to tap, giving the victory and the Interim ROH Women’s TV Title to Shirakawa!

Match Result: Mina Shirakawa defeated Persephone, Miyu Yamashita and Yuka Sakazaki

Well, that was a delight! I knew of Persephone’s ability, but the real standout in the match for me was Sakazaki. Super fun if not a little hard to follow at times.

ROH Women’s World Title Match: Athena (c) vs. Thunder Rosa

Athena has been ROH Women’s World Champion for 944 days as of Supercard of Honor. She has blown through (or cheated her way through) every opponent that’s come her way in ROH, Japan, AEW and beyond. Tonight, it’s Thunder Rosa’s turn and even though Rosa is a former AEW Women’s Champion, I think she’ll be hard pressed to walk away with a title tonight.

Athena came to the ring with perpetual Minion-In-Training Billie Starkz. Rosa came to the ring in a big coat.

The match kicked off with a staredown. The crowd was hot, cheering for both as they locked up, sending each other into the corners before breaking it off. They locked up again and this time Rosa tried a shoulder tackle, but Athena didn’t move. They locked up a third time and Rosa got a wristlock on.

Athena reversed it though, looking for an ankle lock, but settling for a head lock. The two rolled around the ring, trading holds until Rosa pulled Athena up and wracked her arm on the ropes. Rosa worked Athena’s shoulder until she was able to reach the ropes.

Athena clutched her arm as Rosa charged, sending her into the ringpost. Anthena then delivered a back body slam onto the ring apron (the ringest part of the apron!) and dropped Rosa on the barricades, before tossing her back into the ring.

Athena began to bring the pain, slamming knee after knee into Rosa’s back. Athena hauled Rosa up and hit a front slam, getting only a two count to her surprise. Athena began targeting Rosa’s back, hanging her up on the ropes and delivering kick after kick.

Athena rained down UFC style punches and hit a senton, trying to put Rosa down for good. Rosa fought back, targeting the shoulder of Athena. The two staggered to their feet and traded kicks until Athena landed on one Rosa’s face. Rosa responded by sending Athena face-first into the second turnbuckle.

Rosa got Athena down in the corner and hit her with a huge dropkick, targeting the shoulder. Rosa tried to lift Athena, but her back gave out allowing Athena to reverse it into a backbreaker. Athena climbed the ringpost, but Rosa met her there. They traded punches on the post until Rosa hit a superrana, sending Athena rolling out of the ring. Rosa followed her with a baseball slide, and then a top rope dive.

Rosa sent Athena into the steel steps before tossing her back into the ring. Rosa climbed to the top rope and hit a double stomp on Athena’s shoulder. Athena’s arm was almost useless as she rolled out of the ring. She made her way up the ramp, about to leave. Rosa came out of the ring and Starkz got involved while the Ref checked on Athena.

Rosa went up the ramp and Athena grabbed her and chokeslammed her off the ramp through a table! Athena then made her way back to the ring, hoping to get the countout on Rosa. Rosa waved off medical staff and staggered back to the ring as well, ending the count.

Athena hit her with a backbreaker immediately, but Rosa kicked out at two. Athena tried a knockout blow, but again, two. Athena went to the top rope for an O Face, but Rosa caught her there and they battled on the ring post until Rosa locked in a triangle choke. The ref broke it up, but the damage to Athena’s arm was done, but not done enough that she couldn’t powerbomb Rosa off the top!

Athena locked in a side surfboard, putting all the pressure on Rosa’s back. Rosa tried to get out of it but was forced to tap out, giving Athena the victory.

Match Result: Athena (c) defeated Thunder Rosa

Wow. Athena matches are a pure clinic in professional wrestling. She and Rosa told a great story in the ring, each working a body part and selling it until it looked like they were practically crippled. Excellent match and I’m very pleased the Forever Champion’s reign continues.

ROH World Title Match: Bandido (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita

After a match of the year contender against Mascara Dorada at Global Wars Mexico, ROH World Champion Bandido was issued a challenge by… (checks notes) Konosuke Takeshita. OK. Sure. Anyway, Takeshita blames Bandido for costing him the #1 spot in the All In Casino Gauntlet, so they will have a fight about it.

Takeshita had about a six inch height advantage, but that didn’t matter as they locked up and Bandido got him in a headlock. The two began a technical chain as Don Callis joined the announce team.

In the ring, Bandido climbed up Takeshita and landed him in an armbar. Takeshita powered out and put on an arm lock of his own. The speed picked up from there with leg sweeps and quick holds until the tow stood facing off, taking a reset.

Takeshita tried to take control, but Bandido was able to squirm out of everything he threw at him. Bandido rand circles around Takeshita until he was able to hit a double dropkick on him, sending the bigger man to the mat.

Bandido stomped Takeshita in the corner, but allowed him to stand. That gave Takeshita an opening to punch Bandido in the face. Bandido returned the favour and the two locked up in a classic test of strength. Takeshita put Bandido on the mat, but Bandido used his feet to flip the bigger man over in a head scissor.

Takeshita dodged a Bandido charge in the corner and began beating him up, standing on his head and slowing the pace of the match down to match his strength. Takeshita brought Bandido to the mat with an arm lock, twisting and wrenching it.

Bandido battled back and hit a twisting elbow off the top rope. Then he stomped the midsection of Takeshita, wearing him down. Bandido hit a Code Red, but it was only a two count. Takeshita grabbed BAndido and hit a German suples followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb, which got him a two count, as Blue Thunder Bombs tend to do.

Bandido fired back with a high knee. He went for a 21 Plex, but Takeshita grabbed the ropes, stopping him in his tracks. A big right forearm put the champion on his back as Takeshita tried to take off Bandido’s mask. Callis left the booth and returned to ringside.

Takeshita found a chair and tried to hit Bandido, but he dodged it. Bandido then tried a dive to the outside, forgetting that only seconds ago Takeshita had picked up a chair. Takeshita used that chair on Bandido in mid air. He then went back to trying to remove Bandido’s mask. Blood could be seen on Bandido’s face through the eyes.

Takeshita dragged Bandido up the to top of the entrance ramp where he delivered a brainbuster. Takeshita then sauntered back to the ring. The count was at 14 before Bandido got to his feet and staggered back to the ring, just beating the count.

Takeshita sent Bandido to the corner, then bit his head. Bandido could barely see at this point between his loose mask and all the blood. Takeshita went for a simple chinlock, but the look in the champion’s eyes said that he was close to passing out.

Takeshita went back to working Bandido’s arm and shoulder. Bandido struggled but was able to get Takeshita up and over for a suplex. That gave Bandido a second wind and he hit a poisonrana on Takeshita, sending him to the outside and diving after him.

Bandido went up top for a frog splash, but only got a two count. The two men lay in the ring, exhausted, until Takeshita rose and charged. Bandito went for a walkup moonsault, but again, two. Bandido then hit a butterfly facebuster, but could get past the two count. Bandido then tried a double arm submission, but Takeshita wouldn’t quit.

Takeshita and Bandido then ran the ropes culminating in a double clothesline that left both men down. Takeshita got to his feet first and delivered a big kick. Bandido hit a back elbow that dazed Takeshita. Takeshita rose up in perfect position for the 21 Plex, but Takeshita landed on his feet. Bandido sent him to the ropes again and hit a perfect 21 Plex, but Takeshita kicked out a two!

Bandido dragged Takeshita to the top rope and hit a moonsault slam, but again, Takeshita kicked out at two. Bandido was throwing everything he could think of at the big man, but he just wouldnt stay down.

Bandido went up top again and went for a shooting star press. Takeshita got his knees up though and Bandido was sent flying. Bandido pulled down his knee pad and hit an Ex-Knee on Takeshita who crawled up the ropes. Bandido went for a 21 Plex, but Takeshita caught him in a wheelbarrow suplex followed by a knee to the skull, but Bandido kicked out at two.

Takeshita picked up Bandido for a high slam, but Bandido quickly reversed it into a pinning combination and Takeshita couldn’t get out. 1-2-3, Bandido wins the war and retains the title!

Match Result: Bandido (c) defeated Konosuke Takeshita

After the match, Hechicero came down to the ring to pay respects and make it known that he’s Bandido’s next challenger!

What a great night of Wrestling! Bandido is bringing a lot of prestige to the ROH World Title, taking on a ridiculous string of challengers. I know that this was a great match because I’m absolutely exhausted from watching it, but darn it, I’m going to watch it again!
