ROH World title match part of updated AEW Dynamite lineup

The ROH World Championship is on the line this coming Wednesday.

During AEW Collision, a segment took place where Sammy Guevara confronted Bandido, challenging him for Wednesday. Guevara promised he’d do something so heinous he’d take out the ROH Champion so he could face MJF and get the AEW Championship match Bandido earned. Bandido responded by asking Guevara why he was so angry and agreed to the Dynamite title match.

Bandido became the first person other than MJF to win the Dynamite Diamond Ring last month, defeating Ricochet to win the ring and the title match. After MJF won the title at Worlds End, the title match was confirmed for AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage on January 14.

At the very end of Collision, a match was also made between Toni Storm and Marina Shafir. After the latter attempted to help Wheeler Yuta in his match against Darby Allin, Toni Storm came out for the save, attacking Shafir.

AEW Dynamite lineup | January 7th, 2026 | Tulsa, Oklahoma

  • Lights Out match: The Opps (Hook & Powerhouse Hobbs) vs. Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland
  • AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley vs. Shelton Benjamin in a title eliminator match

ROH World title bout set for AEW Fright Night Collision

Saturday’s special Fright Night episode of AEW Collision will include an ROH World Championship match.

Bandido defending the ROH World title against Mascara Dorada was one of two new matches added to Saturday’s lineup during Wednesday’s Fright Night Dynamite episode.

It will be Bandido’s first defense on ROH or AEW programming since Death Before Dishonor in August, although he defended the title on October 3 against Hechicero in CMLL.

Also added to Fright Night Collision, Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita will try to coexist as partners in a tag match against Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. A Don Callis Family summit on Dynamite failed to ease the storyline tensions between Okada and Takeshita.

Already announced for the show, Mercedes Mone puts the CMLL World Women’s title on the line against Olympia.

Spoilers for Saturday’s Collision episode taped Wednesday night in Texas are available here.

The announced lineup for the show to this point:

  • CMLL World Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Olympia
  • ROH World Champion Bandido defends against Olympia

ROH World title match set for Friday’s CMLL event

The next ROH World title defense is in a matter of days.

CMLL has revealed the card for their upcoming show in Mexico City this Friday in Arena Mexico. In the semifinal, Bandido will defend the ROH World Championship against Hechicero. This will be a rematch from Death Before Dishonor in August that saw Bandido retain the championship in a match of the year contender.

Since returning from injury, Bandido has kept a busy schedule, wrestling not only for AEW and ROH but also CMLL, where he has become a regular. Alongside Brody King, Brodido successfully defended the AEW Tag Team titles against Difunto and Zandokan Jr. on September 12. A few days later, they also successfully defended the titles in a four-way ladder match at All Out.

This Friday’s Arena Mexico show will be headlined by a women’s trios match that will see Olympia team up with India Sioux and La Catalina to take on Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit, and Candela.

Bandido keeps mask, wins ROH World title at AEW Dynasty

A new ROH Champion was crowned at AEW Dynasty.

Bandido defeated Chris Jericho to win the championship for a second time. The finish originally had Jericho pinning Bandido after striking him with a bat as Bryan Keith distracted the referee. Per the stipulations of the match, Bandido would have to unmask.

As fans reacted to the shock finish, Bandido’s mother and sister at ringside alerted referee Aubrey Edwards about the bat, which was hidden in the steel steps nearby. Edwards identified the bat and immediately restarted the match. As Jericho reacted to the news, Bandido struck Jericho with the twenty-one plex and pinned him to win the championship.

Bandido celebrated with his family inside the ring as a despondent Jericho retreated to the back.

After Jericho initially defeated Bandido to retain the ROH World title in February, he continued to target Bandido and his family by attacking his brother Gravity and stealing his mask. After weeks of taunting, Bandido was able to get the mask back from Jericho on an episode of Collision after laying him out with a punch and snatching it before Big Bill or Bryan Keith could intervene.

Chris Jericho wins ROH World title on AEW Dynamite

Chris Jericho has scored the nueve.

Jericho defeated Mark Briscoe in a ladder war match to win the Ring of Honor World Championship for a second time, earning his ninth world championship win. The finish had Bryan Keith attempt to interfere, but Rocky Romero chased him away with a kendo stick. Mark hit the Jay Driller and went to climb the ladder, but Big Bill ran in through the crowd and laid out Briscoe with a chokeslam off the ladder through tables on the outside. Bill then placed Jericho on his shoulders and climbed the ladder, allowing Jericho to grab the title for the win.

After the match, Tomohiro Ishii appeared with Romero. Announcers brought up that it was Jericho and the Learning Tree who took out Ishii weeks ago.

Briscoe had held the title for 202 days, winning it back at Supercard of Honor on April 5 where he defeated Eddie Kingston. Despite his long tenure in Ring of Honor, it was his first World title win.

Jericho in recent weeks has had his sights set on the Conglomeration, particularly Briscoe and his ROH World Championship. Jericho turned the rivalry personal when he brought up Briscoe’s brother Jay’s name in a promo, causing Briscoe to shove Jericho in response. Briscoe successfully defended the title at WrestleDream, defeating Jericho with the Jay Driller, his brother’s finishing move.

World title match official for next week’s Ring of Honor TV

Mark Briscoe will defend the ROH World title on the Thursday, August 22 episode of Ring of Honor TV.

ROH authority figure Paul Wight officially announced during this week’s Ring of Honor TV on Honor Club show that Briscoe will defend against The Beast Mortos on next week’s episode.

Briscoe’s defense will come after he successfully retained the World title on this week’s show with a win over Johnny TV.

Tony Nese approached Wight and demanded a title shot against Briscoe, but Wight awarded the bout to Mortos instead. He told Nese to defeat Lio Rush on an upcoming Ring of Honor TV show, and then the two will discuss title shots further.

Briscoe is in the midst of his first ROH World title reign after defeating Eddie Kingston to win the bet at Supercard of Honor on April 5. He has since successfully defended against Kyle Fletcher, Roderick Strong, and Johnny TV.

Next week’s title match was taped on August 11 as part of the AEW/ROH Summer Series residency in Arlington, Texas.

MJF agrees to team with Samoa Joe at AEW Full Gear Zero Hour

The end of Rampage saw MJF agreeing to defend the ROH Tag Team titles with Samoa Joe at AEW Full Gear Zero Hour against The Gunns.

MJF jumped Jay White, who was giving a sit-down interview during Friday’s Rampage. Juice Robinson attacked MJF during the brawl, but was thrown into a TV by MJF. The confrontation between MJF and White eventually made its way to the ring. The Gunns jumped MJF as he gained back the AEW World title belt. White was about to attack MJF with the belt when Joe’s music hit. Bullet Club Gold bailed as Samoa Joe extended his hand to MJF. The two shook hands to end the segment.

Samoa Joe previously told MJF that he would help defend the ROH Tag Team titles against The Gunns if he would give Joe an AEW World Championship match. MJF had dismissed the idea.

A match for the ROH World Championship between champion Eddie Kingston and Jay Lethal was also made official for Saturday’s pre-show. On Friday’s Rampage, Lethal informed Kingston that he had one day left in his championship reign, accusing Kingston of ducking him. The two exchanged words before Lethal and the rest of his group walked away. Once they left, Ortiz appeared next to Kingston.

Also added to Zero Hour is a match between Claudio Castagnoli and Buddy Matthews. After Matthews defeated Wheeler Yuta on Friday’s Collision, Matthews continued to assault Yuta until Castagnoli came down for the save. Castagnoli said he was tired of the House of Black and the darkness and wanted to challenge Matthews in the light. Matthews accepted the challenge.

Eddie Kingston wins ROH World title at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

Eddie Kingston is now the ROH World Champion.

Kingston defeated Claudio Castagnoli in the opening match of Wednesday’s Dynamite Grand Slam event. Despite Castagnoli kicking out of a northern lights bomb, Kingston eventually picked up the win after connecting with a backfist and a press powerbomb, winning the ROH World Championship for the first time and retaining the NJPW Strong Openweight title.

After the match, Castagnoli extended his hand. Kingston paused for a moment before the two eventually did shake hands as Castagnoli gave the ROH title to Kingston and walked away. Castagnoli had been champion since December of 2022, defeating Chris Jericho at Final Battle.

Kingston cut a promo that aired on X following his title win, saying he shook Castagnoli’s hand because he was a great ROH World Champion, but doesn’t like him as a person. He dedicated the match to former ROH Champion Xavier and thanked him for his contributions to the business.

The two’s rivalry stems from Kingston feeling disrespected by Castagnoli’s actions prior to leaving the independent scene and heading to WWE in the 2010s. The two first met in ROH back at Supercard of Honor in March, where Castagnoli retained the championship. In the weeks leading to Grand Slam, Kingston and Castagnoli agreed to a match where both the ROH and Kingston’s New Japan Strong championships would be on the line.
