Tony Khan gives timeline for Sareee & Persephone to compete in AEW Owen Hart tournament

On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, the full bracket for the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament was revealed with several surprises including debuting Japanese stars Sareee and Hazuki in addition to reigning CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone.

However, with Sareee saying Thursday that she was taking a month off for “neck maintenance” and Persephone out of action to the point she had to be pulled from Friday’s ROH Supercard of Honor, it raised questions as to both woman’s health for the tournament that begins next weekend.

AEW head Tony Khan was asked about their status during the Supercard of Honor media call Thursday and said that both are expected to wrestle in the tournament as planned. However, he said their quarterfinal matches will likely take place in June as opposed to right away, noting that the finals of the eight-woman tournament aren’t until late-June at Forbidden Door.

Our Bryan Alvarez reported Thursday after the call that as of Wednesday night, all women in the tournament were expected to compete.

Sareee is scheduled to face Skye Blue while Persephone is slated to go one-on-one with the aforementioned Hazuki of Stardom on the left side. Both matches are on opposite sides of the bracket. Persephone last wrestled on the April 22 Collision in a tag team match after which she was sidelined indefinitely. She was tabbed for the first-ever women’s Survival of the Fittest match at Supercard of Honor before being pulled.

Update on Sareee’s Owen Hart tournament status | Exclusive

An update is available regarding Sareee’s status for the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Sareee was announced as part of the brackets on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, and is scheduled to face Skye Blue in the opening round.

On Thursday, it was announced that Sareee will be taking approximately one month off for “neck maintenance.”Marigold announced Sareee has been pulled from the lineup for this Saturday’s show at Korakuen Hall.

Bryan Alvarez updated his subscribers on X about the situation, writing that despite Sareee being pulled from Marigold’s upcoming event, she is still expected to participate in the tournament.

Alvarez wrote:

“Regarding Sareee, all I know is that as of last night during the show, all the names in the bracket were believed to be participating in the tournament.”

Sareee addressed her status on Thursday, writing:

“As announced, I will be taking approximately one month off for neck maintenance. Having to miss matches that were already scheduled, I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and worry this causes to all the fans and organizations involved. Honestly, it was a decision that took a lot of courage. But I was more afraid of not being able to step into the ring anymore. I made this decision so that I can continue fighting as a professional wrestler from here on out! Please give me just a little time!!”

On today’s ROH Supercard of Honor media call, Tony Khan addressed Sareee’s participation in the Owen Hart tournament, saying her first tournament match is likely not to happen until June.

Sareee to make AEW debut in women’s Owen Hart tournament, full bracket revealed

The full bracket has been revealed for the women’s AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament which will feature the promotional debuts of Japanese standouts Sareee and Hazuki.

Sareee will take on Skye Blue in a quarterfinal on the right side of the eight woman bracket with the winner moving on to face reigning Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena vs. Mina Shirakawa. It will be the first AEW match for Athena since last December. She competed in last year’s tournament, falling to Mercedes Mone in a semifinal.

On the left side, CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone will return to action after getting injured in a late-April Collision bout that saw her pulled from this Friday’s ROH Supercard of Honor. She will take on the debuting Hazuki of Stardom who will be making her promotional debut in a first time ever match.

The winner takes on the winner of TBS Champion Willow Nightingale vs. Alex Windsor which was announced for next weekend’s Double or Nothing in another first time matchup. Of the four announced matches, it’s the only one with a set date.

The finals take place at June’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view from San Jose, California, with the tournament winner presumed to challenge for the title at August’s All In.

Sareee on her time in WWE: ‘Most difficult period in my professional wrestling career’

Japanese wrestler Sareee recently opened up and talked about her time in WWE.

Speaking to Tokyo Sports, the 29-year-old talked about her transition from the Japanese wrestling scene to WWE. Sareee jumped ships and joined WWE in 2020 and stayed there till 2023. However, while sharing her run there with Tokyo Sports, the former Marigold World Champion did not recall a positive experience. (Quotes translated from Japanese)

“That was the most difficult period in my professional wrestling career. WWE has a huge number of members, so it was difficult to even get selected for a match, and then the pandemic hit, so I couldn’t have matches as I wanted. And then I ended up playing a high school girl character. I went there intending to bring the strength of women’s professional wrestling from Japan, but what was required in reality was different, and it was tough,” she said.

“The stress made me love sweets, and there were times when I would eat an American-sized parfait after lunch, then devour a huge Häagen-Dazs ice cream, and my face would be covered in acne. But even so, I did my best. Looking back now, I realize that everything was an experience that has become a valuable lesson for me, so nothing was wasted.“

After a brief run in the United States, her contract with WWE expired, and she made her way back to Japan.

“To be honest, I wondered if it was okay to return to Japan without accomplishing anything in the United States. But when I thought about what I really wanted to do, I realized that I should do the best I could in the limited time I had to do the kind of pro wrestling I believe in. I’ve been working towards becoming the strongest in the Japanese women’s pro wrestling world, which is where it all started.”

She was recently involved in a tag team match with Miku Kanae at SSPW Vol. 38 ~ First Generation Tiger Mask 45th Anniversary, where they defeated the duo of Kaoru Ito & Uta Shima.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Bandido vs. Hechicero rematch

The Ring of Honor World title will be on the line as Bandido defends against Hechicero from Arena Mexico in a rematch from August’s Death Before Dishonor.

The show will also feature an IWGP Women’s title match as Sareee defends against Alex Windsor in a first time ever matchup.

ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion Shane Taylor will be in action against Beef.

Billie Starkz will face Viva Van and the Spanish Announce Project will be in action to round out the card.

I say RING, you say HONOR! RING – HONOR! RING – HONOR! RING – ah crap, I forgot to get someone to say the “of.” Ah well, here we are for another great episode of Ring of Honor on HonorClub, this week featuring Bandido vs Hechicero II: The Hechening!

ROH World Title Match: Bandido (c) vs Hechicero

(I also toyed with “Hech-lectric Booglaloo” and “Hech Harder”)

This match was from Arena Mexico, where Hechicero had cheerleaders. Lethargic cheerleaders, but cheerleaders none the less. Bandido arrived in, I kid you not, a full golden suit of armor. I don’t know if it’s a tariffA thing or what, but he should really bring that back to the US with him. It looked AMAZING.

After a quick Código de honor, the bell, or whistle as it turned out, rang and the two locked up. Hechicero got a headlock on Bandido and took him down to the mat. He went right for a bent leg hold and transitioned into and abdominal stretch.

Bandido reversed the hold into a modified surfboard, but Hechicero moved quickly into his own surfboard, getting Bandido up and working the shoulder and knee of Bandido. Giving as good as hie got, Bandido reversed it and put Hechicero up in a surfboard of his own. It didn’t last long as Hechicero transitioned into another leg lock.

Bandido twisted out with a headscissor though and the two rolled around trying to catch various holds and pinning combinations. Hechicero baounced off the ropes, but Bandido was waiting and locked in a headlock over the top rope (that was pink. It didn’t matter, but I thought it was neat).

Bandido climbed up Hechicero and planted him with a hurricanrana followed by a pump kick. Bandido charged, but Hechicero pulled down the top rope and he flew to the outside. Then Hechicero dove over the top rope, crushing Bandido into the barricade.

Hechicero hoisted Bandido onto his shoulders and then dropped him ribs-first onto the barricade. As he was hanging there, Hechicero stomped Bandido’s head, then exposed a gate. He slammed the gate on Bandido’s shoulder, then tossed him back into the ring to break the count.

Bandido writhed in the ring, while Hechicero put on a hammerlock and twisted his arm around the bottom rope, further damaging the shoulder. Bandido sent Hechicero to the ropes and tried to pick him up off the riccochet, but his arm gave out and Hechicero went out of the ring.

Bandido followed, but Hechicero was waiting and put him on the barricade. Hechicero went to drop kick Bandido on the barricade, but Bandido moved and Hechicero took the brunt of the impact. Bandido scrambled up and hit a twisting moonsault from the ring apron onto Hechicero’s ankle.

Both men headed back into the ring, with Bandido going up top and landing a frog splash, but Hecicero kicked out at two. Bandido kicked the knee out from under Hechicero and tried a tight cover, but no dice as Hechicero kicked out again, but the knee damage was done.

Hechicero grabbed Bandido in a spinning bear hug, tossing Bandido into the corner. Hechicero charged, but Bandido moved and picked up Hechicero in a high millitary press slam. He scrambled up top and hit a 450, but on what seemed like a slow count to this reporter, Hechicero kicked out at 2.5.

Hechicero hit a European upper cut followed by a sunset flip. He tried to put on a kimura lock, but Bandido got out of it right away, writhing in pain. Officials checked on Bandido who insisted on continuing,. They literally popped his shoulder back in place, taped it up and the match continued.

Bandido threw off the tape and one-handed, started throwing punches at Hechicero, who immediately went back to working the arm and shoulder. He put on the kimura lock, but Bandido wouldn’t give up. Hechicero hit a hight knee in the corner and Bandido resoonderd with a shot of his own. Hechicero charged, but Bandido moved and he hit the ropes.

Bandido hit a poisonrana followed by a shining wizard. The two answered a standing ten count and Hencicero rolled through into a body scissor and armbar on Bandido. Bandido rolled him into a stack position though and Hechicero kicked out and hit a headscissor off the ropes, then right back into the armbar. Bandido got his foot on the ropes, forcing him to break the hold.

Bandido with one arm got Hechicero up for an X-Knee, but couldn’t land the 21 Plex. Bandido flipped Hechicero over and managed to tie him up for a pin. 1-2-3 and Bandido retains the ROH World Title!

Match Result: Bandido defeated Hechicero

That was great! I can’t wait for Bandido vs Hechicero III: Hechicero With a Vengeace!

Shane Taylor (w/Carlie Bravo, Shawn Dean & Trish Adora) vs BEEF

Oh BEEF. Poor, sweet, delusional BEEF. When Large Epsilon coined the phrase “Meaty men slapping meat” a few years ago, he might as well have been talking about this match. Taylor is a large and violent man and BEEF is no slouch himself in the size department.

Taylor literally spat on BEEF’s attempt at a code of honor and started throwing jabs as the bell rang. Taylor sent BEEF off the ropes, but BEEF avoided the backdrop and laid in some right hands of his own. The ring literally shook as Taylor whipped BEEF into the corner. BEEF roared out of it though and hammered Taylor with more punches.

The Infantry then distracted the Ref and Taylor dumped BEEF on the outside. Bravo and Dean laid into him and threw him back in the ring where Taylor leg dropped him on the ring apron (the BEEFiest part of the ring!).

BEEF fought back though, laying shots into the gut of Taylor. Taylor recovered and laid him out with a lariat for a two count. Taylor slapped BEEF and threw him to the ropes. BEEF cartwheeled (seriously) back at him and landed another set of punches.

Eventually Taylor ducked and knocked BEEF in the noggin before hitting a standing splash. He went for the pin, but BEEF kicked out at two. The two brawled in the ring and BEEF went for a hig kick, but Taylor had it scouted and punched him in the face. Hard.

BEEF crumpled and Taylor got the pin to pick up the victory.

Match Result: Shane Taylor defeated BEEF

After the match, Taylor and the Infantry laid a beating (or tenderizing?) into BEEF, but were interrupted by BEEF’s sometimes-cousin Anthony Henry and JD Drake, the Workhorsemen! They ran off Taylor and Co, but the Workhorsemen were then jumped by LFI! The tag champions (and Dralistico) stood tall as thje segment came to and end.

Billie Starkz vs Viva Van

“Hey! It’s Viva Van!” cheered my 8-year old as Van came down to the ring. She then told me that Billie Starkz looked like Zoey from KPop Demon Hunters. Kids just get wrestling, I swear.

The two locked up and Starkz got a side headlock on Van. Van twisted it into a wristlock and Starkz rolled out of it after several attempts. She delivered a big boot to Van’s midsection, but Van ducked the following lariat.

Starkz grabbed a handful of hair and whiffed on a kick, giving Van the opening to punch her in the face. Van landed a hurricanrana and charged Starkz in the corner. Starz avoided it and grabbed a handful of hair, wrenching Van back and down to the mat.

Starkz pulled Van up and Van bounced off the ropes, avoiding Starkz until she could hit a face buster. Starkz rolled through it and started raining down forearms on Van. Starkz sent her to the corner exclaiming “I hate your face!” She went for a kick and then tried a pin, but Van kicked out at two.

Starkz chopped Van in the corner then booted her in the head. She went for a suplex, but Van blocked it and went for a punch of her own. Starkz responded with a pump-kick and Van did her best Undertaker impresson and rose up. Starkz laid her own and went up top for a Swanton, but Van got the knees up.

Van hit a clothesline and then a backfist. Van tried for a gutwrench but Starkz worked around it and hit a closed fist followed by a swandive. That was it for Van as Starkz pinned her for the win.

“Yay! Zoey won!”

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Viva Van

Next a QTV featuring Harley Cameron segment aired. Marshall and Solo discussed Big Boom AJ needing a mystery partner for a tag match. Solo asked if QT would tag with AJ and that summoned AJ into the room, with QT noting that AJ was “running out of options.” Then it was over and left us all asking why wasn’t there more Harley Cameron?

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) vs Logan Cruz & Tyshaun Perez

Cruz and Perez were making their ROH debut against the coolest guys in neon, Serpentico and Angelico.

The bell rang and Perez and Cruz locked up. Angelico had a signifcant lankiness advantage and used it to tie up Perez in a wristlock. He then tagged in Serpentico who hit a double stomp on Perez’ arm. Angelico hit a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker and then exited to leave Serpentico to take on Cruz.

Serpentico hit a hurricanrana and sent Cruz into the corner. Perez tried to help out, but Serpentico poked the eye. That left him open for a shot from Cruz though, who dragged Serpentico over to the corner. Perez tagged in and hit a standing moonsault for a two count.

Angelico reached as far as he could (which was pretty far) but Cruz and Perez held Serpentico far enough away to prevent the tag. They then had a miscommunication allowing Serpentico to get the tag and Angelico to clean house.

He hit a high heel kick, but Cruz and Perez tried a double team. Serpentico came in to help out and dove over the ropes onto Cruz on the outside. Back in the ring, Angelico put Perez in a grapevine and pulled back, causing him to tap out instantly.

Match Result: Spanish Announce Project defeated Logan Cruz & Tyshaun Perez

Next, a Frat House segment aired. The House was at the Jacksonville Jaguars game and nearly 4 people recognized them as they partied in the parking lot. This segment had nothing to do with Glacier, so it was entirely missable. They did announce that The Frat House would take on the Von Erichs next week, so that will be a nice, clean match I’m sure.

The bigger story was that Shannon Moore will be making his ROH Deubt next week against Blake Christian. Christian joined us from the back, saying that ROH is feeding him another has-been. Or perhapos a Never-Was.

IWGP Women’s Title Match: Sareee (c) vs Alex Windsor

These two shared the ring in a tag match last week, after which Windsor issued this challenge to Saree. Saree said yes, so here we are.

Windsor had a size advantage over Saree, but Saree has held the IWGP Title for over 100 days, so she knows how to get around stronger opponents. The two locked up and Windsor immediately tried to overpower Saree. Saree held her own though and they broke it up on the ropes.

Saree grabbed a wristlock and transitioned into a headlock, grinding Windsor’s head. Windsor used leverage to reverse it and put on a headlock of her own. Saree dropped down, but Windsor saw it coming and kicked her.

Saree rolled through and landed an arm drag. Windsor came back with hard strikes and threw Saree to the ropes. As the bounced back, Windsor caught her and slammed her, but off the two count, Saree popped right back up. She went for an Irish Whip, but Windsor sent her to the corner instead.

Windsor started hammering the back of Saree and then put her over her knees in a surfboard type hold. Saree kicked out of the pin attempt and put on an Octopus hold. Windsor staggered to the ropes with Saree on her back, but Saree pulled her back and dropped them both to the mat. Windsor got her foot on the ropes to beak the hold.

Saree went for a charge but got caught in the ropes and Windsor hit a baseball slide to send her out of the ring. Then she landed a cannonball from the ring apron and tried to get back in the ring. Saree caight her though and landed some big shots before putting her back in the ring.

Saree went up top for a missile dropkick, laying Windsor out. She then hit a double stomp from the top turnbuckle, but Windsor kicked out at two.

Saree landed a fisherwoman’s slam and went up top again. Windsor met her there though and picked her up for a powerbomb, then transitioning it into a Sharpshooter. Saree countered it though and hit a boot to the stomach. She followed that with a spinning heel kick, laying Windsor out.

The two started trading strikes in the middle of the ring. They went back and forth until they transitioned from chops to slaps. Saree landed a big forearm, but Windsor responded with a clothesline. Saree then hit two dropkicks and positioned Windsor on the mat.

Saree went up top and hit another double stomp, but Windsor kicked out at two. Windsor grabbed Saree and slammed her for a two count and tried to put that Sharpshooter on again. Saree blocked it though and sent her into the corner. When Saree charged, Windsor kicked her in the face and the dragged her to the top turnbuckle.

Saree headbutted her and went for a superplex, but Windsor blocked it. Windsor then hit a twisting super screwdriver suplex, but Saree kicked out at two. Windsor finally locked the Sharpshooter on Saree, but she was able to crawl to the ropes to break the hold.

Windsor went off the ropes, but Saree caught her with a punch and a bunch of headbutts. Saree then hit a double stomp out of the corner, but Windsor kicked out at two. Saree wrenched her over for a shoulder slam and that was it. Saree got the pin and retained her IWGP Women’s World Title!

Match Result: Sareee defeated Alex Windsor

Two great title matches and a bunch of brawling! Can’t ask for much more from a great night of wrestling!

Sareee to defend IWGP Women’s title on next Ring of Honor TV show

After making her Ring of Honor debut Thursday, Sareee will put the IWGP Women’s title on the line against Alex Windsor as part of next week’s ROH on HonorClub TV show.

Sareee teamed with Windsor in a victory over Billie Starkz and Diamante. Afterward in a backstage promo, Windsor said she wanted a shot at the title, bringing up her past challenge of former champion Syuri as a reason. She also referenced a previous Sareee comment of “Who is she?” as something that bothered her.

The two have never been on opposite sides of the ring.

Sareee will be looking for the third defense of the title she won this past June at Stardom’s The Conversion event. It will be Windsor’s second attempt to win the title.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Sareee debuts

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will feature the promotional debut of IWGP Women’s Champion Sareee, some women’s Pure rules action, some trios matches, and a former ROH World Champion.

Sareee will team with Alex Windsor against Billie Starkz and Diamante.

In a pair of Pure rules bouts, Serena Deeb will take on Katie Arquette while Yuka Sakasaki battles Zoey Lynn. Both Deeb and Sakasaki are in the current Women’s Pure title tournament, but these are non-tourney bouts.

Former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal takes on Aaron Solo.

In trios action, the Premier Athletes (Tony Nese, Ariya Daivari and Stori Denali) will be in action as will The Frat House (Griff Garrison, Preston Vance and Kole Carter).

In another trios bout, MxM Collection teams with Taya Valkyrie against Top Flight & Leila Grey. MxM friend Johnny TV will also compete, going one-on-one with AR Fox.

Dralistico takes on Beef while The Workhorsemen will be in action to round out the show.

Ring of Honor is on Honorclub and we are on the internet to watch it! Yes, that is an apt description of what’s happening tonight.

The show opened with MxMxTV cutting a promo about their matches tonight, claiming to have a secret weapon to ensure victory (spoiler alert, it was SEED). Mansoor then said that on the way to the event tonight they had some trouble with TSA. Apparently, the agents thought that their load was too big, so their supply of SEED was confiscated at the airport.

Gross.

Mixed Six Person Tag Team Match: MxM TV (Mansoor, Mason Madden & Taya Valkyrie) (w/Johnny TV) vs. SkyFlight (Dante Martin, Darius Martin & Leila Grey) (w/Christopher Daniels)

The women started this one off, with Grey and Valkyrie talking trash and doing a little shoving to get things going. Grey started with some heavy strikes, sending Valkyrie into the corner. Mansoor tagged in, which brought in Darius. Mansoor grabbed a headlock and they rolled around the ring, stopping only for Mansoor to pose.

Darius hit an atomic drop, assisted by Dante who tagged in just in time to take a high kick from the newly legal Madden. Madden used his size advantage and tossed Dante around before hitting a sitout powerbomb.

Madden tagged in Mansoor off of a scoop slam and he threw Dante out of the ring into Madden’s waiting arms. Mansoor crossbodied him from the apron and Madden threw Dante back in. Madden tagged in and used some butt-based offence to get a two count.

Dante started spamming superkicks to get the momentum back on his side. He crawled in to gat a tag to Darious, who met Mansoor head on with a fallaway slam with elbow on top. Valkyrie tagged in and was immediately taken out by Grey. They fought on the outside while MAdden grabbed Darius and hit a huge slam.

Mansoor went up top, buyt Darious shoved Madden into his junk face first. Top Flight hit a double superkick and then a high front suplex and that was enough to put Mansoor down, 1-2-3.

Match Result: SkyFlight defeated MxMxTV

Rosario Grillo and Chance Prophet vs. The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Somehow, Grillo and Prophet are not Marvel characters and that was confirmed by the way that Henry tossed around Grillo off the top. Drake tagged in and hung him up on the ropes for some chops, but Grillio raked the eyes and tagged in Prophet.

Drake wasn’t phased and immediately scooped up Prophet and slammed him. Picking up where he left off with Grillo, he chopped Prophet in the corner and tagged in Henry. Henry hit a high knee on Prophet in the corner and then he and Drake double teamed him into submission to get the pin.

Match Result: The WorkHorsemen defeated Rosario Grillo and Chance Prophet

After the match, LFI sauntered across the top of the ramp, posing and generally being great. The Workhorsemen were very offended by this and yelled at them. I think that means they want a shot at the titles? Before we coudl find out, the show moved on to the Women’s Pure Championship Tournament.

Pure Rules Match: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Zoey Lynn

I don’t know if it’s going to come to pass, but Sakazaki is my heart’s pick to win the tournament and forever bring the magic to ROH. Tonight though, it’s Lynn, a former Marine, who takes her on in a Pure Rules Match.

Right off the top, Sakazaki had Lynn scouted and Lynn used her first break at 0:37, to break a hold. She stepped out of the ring andf Sakazaki hit her with a baseball slide and then an inside out sl,ingshot clothesline before tossing her back in.

Lynn got a high kick in that dazed Sakazaki, allowing Lynn to scramble up top for a high crossbody. Sakazaki shook it off and lured Lynn in for a leg choke hold over the ropes that wasn’t a rope break for some reason.

Lynn came off the top with a knee to the back of Sakazaki, trying to keep the quicker girl off her feet. Lynn hit a twisting neckbreaker but only got a two count. She missed with a clothesline and Sakazaki used the opening to kick her in the face.

Sakazaki put on a hammer lock and a helicopter slam to get the pin and the win in this Exhibition Pure Rules match.

Match Result: Yuka Sakazaki defeated Zoey Lynn

-Next, a vingette featuring thr Frat House being dumb and annoying aired. But then, for no reason at all, who should show up? Glacier. That’s right, GLACIER!

He told the Frat house they need to cool it with the partying and then put Karter through a beer pong table. He then got a call on his cell and left.

This was by far the best segment involving the Frat House that has ever aired.

Six Man Tag Team Match: The Frat House (Cole Karter, Griff Garrison & Jacked Jameson) defeat Casey King, Corey Sparks & Nick Hamrick

Before the match, Jameson grabbed a mic and said that they were going to “beat up these kids” before Vance informed the crowd that they will be ingesting alcohol regardless of the out come of the match. But in a way stupider way.

What followed wasn’t even a squash match. The Frat House just beat up King, Sparks and Hamrick for a few minutes. The commentary team didn’t even bother to really say who was who in the ring, actually taking the moment to talk. about the action figures that are on the way to the AEW Shop.

Hamrick tagged in at one point and threw punches at all three Frat House members, but that was the closest things to offence that the team got before Karter hit a 450 on him and got the pin.

-With that unpleasantness out of the way, LFI cut a promo in the back addressing the Workhorsemen. Guevara said that their win tonight wasn’t really a win and if they want to step up to LFI and get a real challenge, they are ready.

Aaron Solo vs. Jay Lethal

Solo jumped Lethal before he even got to the ring, hitting him with a big splash from the top. Lethal got into the ring and returned the favour, throwing Solo out and diving on him. Then the bell rang.

Lethal got Solo up on his shoulders, but Solo raked the eyes to get out of it. He kicked Lethal in the stomach and ran to the ropes, but Lethal caught him by the trunks for a pump kick. He went for an early lethal injection, but Solo got away from it.

Lethal tried an ankle lock, but Solo rolled it over. Lethal hit a superkick, but Solo came right back with a big cutter, leaving them both on the mat.

Solo charged Lethal in the corner and they went up top. Solo set Lethal up for a suplex, but Lethal pushed him off and went for an elbow drop. Solo caught him on the ground though and rolled him into a pin attempt.

Lethal tried it again, but Solo got his feet up. Lethal saw it coming though and twisted that foot into a figure four, wrenching Solo’s knee.

Solo got up and spun Lethal around with a big lariat followed by a spinning kick. Solo limped to his feet and went up top again, but Lethal joined him. Solo blocked a superplex and hit a double stomp from the top turnbuckle that almost got him a three count.

Solo got caught in a dragonscrew from Lethal who immediately followed it up with another and then a Lethal Injection that connected. 1-2-3, Lethal was victorious.

Match Result: Jay Lethal defeated Aaron Solo

Mixed Six Person Tag Team Match: Cowpoke Paul, Gen Z and Reese Ramone vs. The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari, Stori Denali & Tony Nese)

Daivari started things off with Z after the still Mark Sterling-less Athletes did their call and response thing. Daivari immediately isolated Z in the corner for Nese to beat up. Z hit a chinbreaker though and tagged in Paul.

Nese turned his attention to Paul who managed to get a few strikes in before Nese dropped kicked him into the corner, causing a blind tag to Ramone. Ramone entered the ring and so did Story, who towered over her.

Story hit a big boot on Ramone without having to kick higher than her hip. Z tried to interfere, but Story booted him too. Paul tried to help out, but Story grabbed Paul in a chokeslam and then hit a spinebuster on Ramone to get the pin and the win for the Athletes.

Match Result: The Premier Athletes defeated Cowpoke Paul, Gen Z and Reese Ramone

Pure Rules Match: Katie Arquette vs. Serena Deeb

Pure Rules Matches were pretty much made for Deeb, so it was no surprise that right off the top, Deeb put on a hammerlock and stepped over into a twisting armbreaker. Arquette tried to charge Deeb, but Deeb moves so smoothly that there was no hope of her connecting.

Deeb hit a swinging neckbreaker but Arquette fought back and sent Deeb into the corner with some shoulders. Deeb came back with a clothesline and hit a twisted arm lariat to put Arquette on her back.

Deeb went for an octopus strech and Arquette quickly tapped out at 2:24 having used no rope breaks or closed fists.

Match Result: Serena Deeb defeated Katie Arquette

After the match, Yuka Sakazaki met Deeb at the top of the ramp. These two are destined to meet in the Women’s Pure Rules Championship Tournament. The winner of that match will take on Billie Starkz in the semi-finals. Respect was shown and the two left together.

Sareee and Alex Windsor vs Billie Starkz and Diamante

Speaking of Starkz, there she was! She and Diamante are taking on the IWGP Women’s Champion Sareee and Alex Windsor. This was Sareee’s debut in ROH, but she let Windsor start things off against Starkz.

Windsor laid in some strikes before Starkz called for a test of strength lock up. Windsor turned that into a straightjacket and then a headlock, controlling the pace of the match. Starkz tried to charger her, but Windsor hit a back body drop and tagged in Sareee.

Saree hit some massive forearm strikes on Starkz followed by a big dropkick. It’s honestly been a while since we’ve seen Starkz on her heels like this.

Windsor tagged in and hit a double elbow with Sareee before a hitting a neckbreaker solo. Diamante tagged in and tripped Windsor, giving her an opening to lay in some elbow strikes and a dropkick in the corner.

Starkz tagged back in and she and Diamante suplexed Windsor for a two count. Starkz talked some trash to Sareee on the outside, then turned back to Windsor for some punches. Diamante tagged in and Windsor found herself isolated in the opposition’s corner.

Diamante distracted the ref so Starkz could choke Windsor. Starkz tagged in proper and Windsor tried to fight back until Starkz laid her out with a DDT. Starkz locked in a crossface in the center of the ring. Windsor powered out of it though and she and Starks traded forearms.

Starkz hit a chin breaker, but Windsor head butted her and seemed to take the bulk of the damage from it. Hot tags were made and Sareee and Diamante went at each other. Sareee locked in a bridged grapevine Muta Lock in the center of the ring.

She released Diamante so that she could go up top and double stomp her. Starkz broke up the pin though and Sareee tagged in Windsor. Diamante took both on and sent Sareee out before hitting a cutter on Windsor.

Diamante went to end things, but Sareee interrupted and put her in a sharpshooter. That was too much for Diamante who tapped out, giving Sareee a victory in her ROH Debut.

BEEF vs. Dralistico (w/Rush & Sammy Guevara)

When Rush says “you mess with the bull, you get the horns” do you think he was thinking about BEEF? LFI came to the ring as a group and BEEF came to the ring as a sweaty dude. Dralistico threw his jacket at BEEF, presumably looking to dry him off.

Off the top, Dralistico exited the ring to talk to Guevara and Rush. He then got back into the ring and dropkicked BEEF out to the barricades. He threw BEEF into the barricades while Guevara and Rush strutted next to them.

Back in the ring, sort of, Dralistico set BEEF up on the apron (the beefiest part of the ring!) for a high knee. BEEF staggered to his feet and managed to get some open hands on Dralistico’s chest. Dralistico responded in kind and sent BEEF into the corner for a dropkick.

BEEF battled back with some big right hands and the jabs knocked Dralistico off his feet. BEEF sent him into the ropes and hit a big dropkick that got the crowd going. He put Dralistico on the corner for some punches, but Dralistico swept his legs out from underneath him.

Dralistico hit a springboard knee to BEEF’s face and that was it, 1-2-3, Dralistico wins.

Match Result: Dralistico defeated BEEF

After the match, Rush hopped in the ring with a camera cable and started choking BEEF. Suddenly, the Workhorsemen arrived and chased off LFI, saving BEEF, who as we know is Anthony Henry’s second cousin. Or something.

-Backstage, Alex Windsor said that Sareee was great to tag with, but they have unfinished business. She challenged Sareee for the IWGP Women’s Championship and within seconds, Tony Khan made the match official for next week!.

AR Fox vs. Johnny TV (w/Mansoor, Mason Madden & Taya Valkyrie)

MxMxTV were still so mad about their loss earlier in the evening, that they could barely touch tips. They limped through their opening poses and then AR Fox came down to the ring. He did not pose or touch any tips.

TV sent Fox into the corner right away, but took too long posing and Fox turned the tables with a Facelock suplex. Fox hit a bunch of elbows in the corner, getting the crowd going. He went to make a move, but Mansoor and Madden pulled him off the ring apron.

TV took advantage with a double axe handle before sending Fox back into the ring. TV hit a shining wizard and a running moonsault, but it was only for a two count. TV moved into a modified Cobra Clutch, but Fox elbowed him in the gut.

TV Sent Fox out and distracted the Ref while Mansoor and Madden stomped Fox. Valkyrie then got in the ring to make out with TV a bit. TV obliged and then dove over her onto Fox on the floor. He tossed him back into the ring for a two count.

“Johnny TV just got paid to make out with his wife on TV.” – Caprice Coleman.

Back in the match, TV rammed his knees into the back of Fox. Fox hit a chinbreaker followed by a pendulum DDT to regain a bit of momentum. Fox turned up the sped and dodged a bunch of offence from TV before hitting a rolling cutter.

Fox dove through the ropes onto MxM and then did the same onto TV. He threw TV back in the ring and hit a big swan dive, but TV kicked out at two. Fox set TV up on the top turnbuckle, but Valkyrie caused a distraction, leaving Fox open for a crescent kick.

However, Fox turned that into a neckbreaker and a quick rollup to get the victory!

Japanese women’s standout makes ROH debut before AEW Dynamite

IWGP Women’s Champion Sareee made her Ring of Honor debut prior to Wednesday’s sixth anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite in Hollywood, Florida.

The 29-year-old teamed with Alex Windsor to take on Billie Starkz and Diamante in tag team action (results below). It was her first match in either ROH or AEW and just her second match in the United States this year.

It’s unknown if the match will air on this week’s ROH or for a future episode.

She has held the IWGP title for over 100 days after winning it at a June Stardom event. She is also the Sukeban World Champion and one half of the AAAW Tag Team Champions.

The former Sarray in WWE NXT, she had a brief run in developmental from early-2021 through March 2023 when her contract expired. She recently spoke about not enjoying the experience.

Meiko Satomura vs. Sareee announced for January

Meiko Satomura’s road to retirement will include a match against Sareee.

Sareee vs. Meiko Satomura has been announced for ISM Chapter Ⅵ on January 23, 2025.

This will be their fourth singles matches against one another, with Satomura leading the head-to-head series 2-1. The two also teamed with each other frequently in Satomura’s Sendai Girls promotion, and once on an episode of NXT UK in a win over Eliza Alexander and Xia Brookside.

The match will take place a little over three months before Satomura retires from in-ring competition. Sendai Girls has announced an event titled “Satomura The Final” for April 29, 2025, featuring her retirement match. Satomura’s opponent has yet to be named.

Satomura announced in June that she plans to retire in 2025. The following month, she appeared on three WWE house shows in Japan, ending the tour with a match against Bayley for the WWE Women’s title.

Sareee signs multi-year contract with Sukeban

Sareee (former WWE NXT wrestler Sarray) is now under contract with new Joshi promotion Sukeban.

Sukeban, which is based in the United States, launched in September with its inaugural show taking place in New York City. It was announced today that the promotion has signed Sareee to a multi-year contract. She’ll debut at Sukeban’s second event, which is being held in Miami this December.

Sareee will be part of the Cherry Bomb Girls faction in Sukeban.

In her Sukeban debut at the December show, Sareee will face Countess Saori, Atomic Banshee, and Babyface in a four-way match. The match features participants from all four of Sukeban’s stables (Cherry Bomb Girls, Dangerous Liaisons, Vandals, and Harajuku Stars).

“Joining Sukeban’s roster marks the return to the United States for Sareee, a former WWE performer who is widely regarded as one of the most underutilized and talented pro-wrestlers in the world,” Sukeban wrote in a press release. “Sareee epitomizes the spirit of All Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling, serving as a link to the glory days of Joshi pro-wrestling.”

In 2020, Sareee signed a contract with WWE. But her arrival into the company was delayed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was with NXT from 2021 until departing WWE this March.

After her WWE departure, Sareee worked as a freelance wrestler in Japan.

Sarray issues statement on WWE departure

Sarray is thankful for the time she spent in WWE.

At a press conference on Monday, Sarray formally announced her departure from WWE. Tokyo Sports reported last week that Sarray would be leaving WWE when her contract expired. She’ll be resuming her career as a freelancer in Japan.

Sarray also posted a tweet on Monday thanking WWE. Sarray wrote that, no matter what people might say, she did her best and is so glad she got the chance to go to WWE.

“No matter what some people might say, I did my best. I am so glad that I had the chance to go to WWE,” Sarray wrote. “Thank you WWE. Thank you Sarray. Thank you WWE Universe.”

Again using “Sareee” as the spelling of her name, Sarray will return to the ring at a show in Tokyo on Tuesday, May 16. Sareee-Ism: Chapter One is the name of the event.

Sarray last wrestled when she lost to Mandy Rose on NXT last August.

Sarray made her NXT debut in April 2021. She was originally supposed to start with NXT in 2020, but her arrival was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sareee coming to WWE NXT, gets updated in-ring name

The NXT women’s division is getting a new addition.

During tonight’s episode of NXT, a video aired announcing that Sareee is coming to NXT. Her new in-ring name in WWE is Sarray and her nickname is “The Warrior of the Sun.”

The 24-year-old Sareee is from Tokyo, Japan. World Woman Pro Wrestling Diana, SEAdLINNNG, and Sendai Girls” Pro Wrestling are among the promotions she’s wrestled for.

Sareee announced in February 2020 that she had signed with WWE and would be moving to the United States, but that was delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This January, Sareee revealed that she would be having her final match in Japan before starting with WWE. She moved to the United States in February, but her signing wasn’t officially announced by WWE until now. Her name wasn’t listed among the recruits that reported to the WWE Performance Center in February.

That February class was touted as the largest-ever group of Performance Center recruits in history. WWE also stated that it had the most female recruits of any Performance Center class ever. The class included former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie, Booker T trainee and indie wrestler AQA, Lacey Ryan (now known as Zoey Stark in NXT), Priscilla Kelly (now known as Gigi Dolin in NXT), Elayna Black (now known as Cora Jade in NXT), and indie wrestlers Camron Branae, Avery Taylor, and Karissa Rivera.

Sareee moving to U.S. to start with WWE following final Japan match

Japanese women’s wrestler Sareee tweeted Sunday that she will wrestle her final match in Japan next week and will then move to the U.S. to begin full-time with WWE.

Her final match is set for Friday, January 22nd for SEAdLINNNG where she is one half of the Beyond the Sea Tag Team champions with Yoshiko.

After breaking into the business in the spring of 2011, the 24-year-old born Sari Fujimura signed with the company early last year and was set to do the move then, but the pandemic changed those plans. She later said WWE allowed her to continue to work in Japan until she was able to leave.

It’s unknown when she will start, but it’s assumed NXT and the Orlando, Florida, Performance Center will be her first stop.

After being off since late-February, Sareee has kept a regular schedule since September, working throughout Tokyo for SEAdLINNNG, World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana, Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, and others.

Sareee announces signing with WWE, moving to US in March

Japanese wrestling star Sareee confirmed today that she has signed with WWE.

She made the announcement at a World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana show earlier today. She said that she would be moving to the United States in March. WWE has yet to confirm the signing.

The news comes following a Tokyo Sports interview from Sareee in September where she expressed interest in signing with WWE. An interview with Triple H in July, also from Tokyo Sports, indicated that there was interest from WWE’s side as the two met in Tokyo during a WWE tour.

Sareee, 23, started wrestling in 2011 and was trained by Kyoko Inoue. She has wrestled extensively for Diana since her debut, where she has won their World championship twice and their Tag Team championship once. She had most recently lost the Diana World championship to Ayako Sato back on January 4.

She also had a brief run in Seadlinnng in 2017. However, she left the promotion after six months and rejoined Diana immediately after.
