The Club Venus team of Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa won the Goddess of Stardom Championships on today’s pay-per-view as well. They defeated Ami Sourei and Mirai to win the belts. Willow Nightingale advances in AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament

Willow Nightingale is the latest to advance in the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Saturday’s Collision saw Nightingale defeat Nyla Rose with a powerbomb to advance to the semifinals. After the match, The Outcasts (Toni Storm, Saraya, and Ruby Soho) came to the ring and circled around Nightingale. Skye Blue then hit the ring with a steel stair as the Outcasts backed off, with Storm exchanging words with Nightingale ahead of their AEW Women’s Championship match on Sunday’s Forbidden Door event.

Nightingale will next face the winner of a match between ROH Women’s Champion Athena and Billie Starkz that takes place on the Forbidden Door pre-show event on Sunday. The first to advance was Blue, who defeated Anna Jay AS on Rampage Friday night. She will face the winner of a Britt Baker/Soho match that is set for Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The men’s tournament will begin at Forbidden Door, with CM Punk facing NJPW’s Satoshi Kojima in an opening round match.

Ring of Honor TV live results: NJPW Strong Women’s title match

Thursday’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will feature an NJPW Strong Women’s title defense.

Willow Nightingale will defends against the returning Rachael Ellering, making her first ROH appearance since October 2016.

Griff Garrison takes on Lee Moriarty in his first match since last October due to an injury that required surgery.

Ahead of her opportunity at an AEW Women’s title shot on Friday, Mercedes Martinez will take on VertVixen.

In a Proving Ground match, ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Embassy (Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) face Marcus Kross, Eli Isom & Cheeseburger.

Two trios matches will be featured as Dark Order’s Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver face The WorkHorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry) and Shane Taylor while Darius Martin, Action Andretti & AR Fox battle Sonny Kiss, Jeeves Kay & Slim J.

The rest of the card features Rey Fenix, Matt Sydal, Kiera Hogan and more.

**********

Ian Riccaboni, Nigel McGinness and Caprice Coleman were on commentary from Orlando, Florida.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Christopher Daniels

Good back-and-forth action. Daniels took Fletcher down with a modified flat liner off the middle ropes and locked in a Koji Clutch, but Fletcher made it to the ropes to force a break. Daniels and Fletcher took turns dropping each other on their heads with suplexes. Fletcher countered an STO and went for a spinning piledriver, but Daniels countered with a cradle. Fletcher escaped an Angel’s Wings attempt and caught Daniels with a spinning tombstone to get the pinfall. Solid match. This is Fletcher’s 3rd win in a row, which is the old ROH days used to get you in the conversation for a title shot. The code of honor was adhered to after the match.

Matt Sydal defeated Zack Clayton (w/ Cole Karter) (3:04)

Karter distracted Sydal as he came off the top with a crossbody and Clayton caught him with a spinning powerslam for a near fall. Sydal countered a slam with a DDT and came off the top with a meteora to get the pinfall. After the match, Sydal called out ROH Television Champion Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe v. Matt Sydal for the TV title was made later in the show.

Dralistico (w/ Jose the Assistant) defeated Willie Mack (7:40)

Mack offered Dralistico a handshake to start, but Dralistico only offered one finger in response. Dralistico hit a tope con hilo out of the ring and a senton in the ring for a near fall. Mack came back with a running shining wizard and hit a tope con hilo on Dralistico and Jose on the floor. Jose grabbed Mack’s foot to keep him from getting back in the ring, and Dralistico tied up Mack in the ropes and came off the top with a kick for a near fall.

Mack and Dralistico exchanged strikes and kicks in the center of the ring, with Mack finally getting the edge with a spinning leg lariat. Mack caught Dralistico with a pop-up fall away slam, and Mack popped up with a standing moonsault for a near fall. Mack came off the top with a splash, but Dralistico got his knees up at the last minute. Mack caught Dralistico with a pop-up uppercut. Jose got on the apron to distract Mack and the referee, allowing Dralistico to hit a low blow and then the Incinerator Knee to get the pinfall. Good match but a bad finish.

Tony Khan has a huge announcement

Khan came out to announce Matt Sydal vs. Samoa Joe for the ROH Television Title. He then brought out the new ROH Board of Directions to help him do some of the backstage work in ROH: Stokely Hathaway (who looks like he’s doing a disingenuous babyface gimmick) and Jerry Lynn. Khan sure loves his announcements.

NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale defeated Rachel Ellering to retain (6:49)

Caprice Coleman sang his own made-up lyrics for Nightingale’s music, and I hope he’s paying Taz some residuals for stealing his gimmick. Nightingale got a fisherwoman’s suplex for a near fall. Ellering hit an STO and a spinning legdrop off the ropes for a near fall. Nightingale and Ellering exchanged chops in the corner. Nightingale came off the middle ropes with a dropkick to get a near fall. Ellering caught Nightingale with a black hole slam for a near fall. Nightingale came back with the pounce and a cannonball in the corner. Nightingale caught Ellering with a spinebuster, then locked in a Camel Clutch to force a tap out.

ROH Six-Man Champions The Embassy (Brian Cage & The Gates of Agony) defeated Cheeseburger, Eli Isom & Marcus Cross in a Proving Ground match(4:57)

In a Proving Ground match, if the challengers get a time limit (10 minutes) draw or win the match, they will earn a title shot. Isom put up a fight for about a minute before Page caught him with a superkick. Isom came back with a jawbreaker on Loa and made the tag to Cheeseburger. Cheeseburger tried but the Gates of Agony ate him up and gave nothing. Khan missed a splash in the corner and Cheeseburger got the tag, but the match fell apart and the Embassy just destroyed all three of their opponents. Cage and Tanga Loa tossed Isom into a power bomb from Bishop Khan and got the pinfall. This was a glorified squash.

Mercedes Martinez defeated VertVixen (4:23)

VertVixen got a dropkick early, but Martinez kipped up and floored her with a clothesline.VertVixen had the offense for a while, but Martinez came in the corner with a charging forearm and hit an anarchist’s suplex for a near fall. Martinez hit VertVixen with a forearm to the back of the head, then locked in an inverted surfboard to get the submission.

Lee Moriarty defeated Griff Garrison

Garrison is back after an injury, trying his hand at singles. Moriarty dominated the match early by working over Garrison’s shoulder. Garrison came back and caught Moriarty with a spinning powerslam, then hit a twisting forearm for a near fall. Garrison tried to pick Moriarty up for an Angle Slam, but Moriarty raked Garrison’s eyes and rolled him up for a pinfall.

Kiera Hogan defeated Robyn Renegade (4:32)

Hogan hit a legdrop for two. Renegade worked over Hogan’s arm. Renegade locked in an overhead wristlock, but Hogan made the ropes to force the break. Hogan came back with a series of forearms and flying axehandles before stomping a mudhole into Renegade in the corner. Hogan followed up with a sliding dropkick and a running hip attack, and Robyn slid to the floor. Charlette Renegade (not her twin sister but very much a lookalike) ran in to help. Hogan dropped to the floor to take them both out, then brought one of the Renegades back in the ring and finished them off with a superkick to get the pinfall.

After the match, Athena ran in and attacked Hogan with a kendo stick. But that backfired, and Hogan got the kendo stick and beat Athea out of the ring. Hogan held up Athena’s ROH Women’s title to taunt Athena.

Dark Order (Evil Uno, Jon Silver & Alex Reynolds) defeated Shane Taylor and The WorkHorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)

A slugfest broke out during the handshake between both teams to start the match. Reynolds took a lot of punishment from Taylor and Drake in the corner. Drake hit a belly to belly suplex on Reynolds, and Shane Taylor followed up with a big splash for a near fall. Drake hit a cannonball in the corner, then Taylor and Drake did a tag team stunner for a near fall. Anthony Henry came off the top rope with a double stomp,

Reynolds got the tag to Uno. Uno sent Drake to the floor with a boot, then stomped away at Henry in the corner. Uno hit a suplex on Henry for a near fall. Taylor and Uno exchanged strikes in the middle of the ring a battle which Taylor easily won. But a miscommunication spot lead to Drake hitting his own partner Taylor with a boot. Uno hit Henry with a Sky High. The Dark Order gave Henry a triple team windmill slam. Reynolds and Silver hit their rapid-fire finisher on Drake to get the pinfall.

– After the match, the Righteous with new member Stu Grayson (formerly of the Dark Order) were interviewed by Dasha Fuentes. They were not impressed with the Dark Order. The Righteous will have a match next week.

AR Fox, Darius Martin & Action Andretti defeated The Trustbusters (Sonny Kiss, Slim J and Jeeves Kay) (6:00)

There sure are a lot of trios in ROH. Sonny Kiss press slammed Andretti out of the corner, then hit a standing moonsault for a near fall. Kiss split into a legdrop for a near fall. Slim J got the tag and ran right into a boot from Andretti. Darius Martin tagged in and hit Slim J with a forearm. Darius gave Slim J a pump handle into a facebuster for a near fall. Kiss hit a spinning kick on Martin, and after an assisted slice break, Daivari came off the top with a splash for two. AR Fox came in and hit a couple of cutters, then Martin and Andretti hit a double steam slam on Daivari to get the pinfall.

The Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) (w/ Maria Kanellas) defeated El Cobarde & El Dragon

Two minutes into the match, Bennett got busted open. Dragon took both guys to the floor with a hurricanrana. Cobarde and Dragon had their chances, but this was another glorified squash match in a series of them. Bennett and Taven won with the Proton Pack. After the match, Maria kissed her bloodied husband to celebrate the victory.

The ROH Board of Directors announcement

Hathaway suggested Action Andretti vs. the entire Embassy, but Jerry Lynn whispered his own suggestion to Tony Khan, making an ROH Six-Man title match with the Embassy against Andretti, AR Fox, and Darius Martin. Khan then brought ROH Tag Team Champion Rey Fenix out for the main event.

Rey Fenix (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Gravity (10:38)

Gravity is Bandido’s brother and making his ROH debut. Gravity dressed like an astronaut for his entrance but took the astronaut suit off for the match. Fenix locked up Gravity on the mat, and twice it looked like Gravity tapped out, but the ref never acknowledged it and the match continued. Gravity countered a suplex attempt with a small package, but Fenix escaped and floored Gravity with a superkick. Gravity hit a springboard crossbody over the ropes to the floor for a near fall.

Gravity hit Fenix with a powerslam and a standing moonsault for a near fall. Fenix hit a sit-out burning hammer for a near fall. Fenix tied Gravity up into a crucifix on his own back, then spun him around like an airplane spin for a near fall. Gravity and Fenix exchanged a series of cradles for near falls.

Gravity deadlifted Fenix into a power bomb off the mat for a near fall. Gravity missed a splash off the top, and Fenix ran the ropes to give Gravity a kick to the head for another near fall. Gravity hit a crucifix driver for another near fall. The crowd chanted “This is awesome!” for a match that actually deserved it tonight.

Fenix and Gravity exchanged chops in the center of the ring. Fenix hit the pop-up cutter, then finished off Gravity with the sit-out tombstone to get the pinfall. This was a great main event.

Final Thoughts:

This was my first Ring of Honor show. No show needs to be two hours of glorified squashes. It felt like I was watching AEW Dark from 2021, and that’s not a good thing. A 60-minute show would be a lot easier to digest.

Next week:

  • Samoa Joe defends the ROH TV title against Matt Sydal
  • The Embassy defends the ROH Six-Man titles against AR Fox, Action Andretti & Darius Martin

AEW Rampage live results: El Hijo del Vikingo, Zack Sabre Jr. title defenses

Tonight’s special “Championship Friday” edition of AEW Rampage will feature four title matches from three different promotions — none of which are AEW.

AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo will look to extend his 500+ day reign as titleholder as he defends against Komander and Dralistico in a three-way. This will be Vikingo’s fifth match in AEW.

Fresh off another title defense on ROH TV, inaugural NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. will defend his gold against Action Andretti. Sabre Jr. bested Rocky Romero Thursday as his recent run in ROH continues.

Inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale will have her first title defense as she takes on Emi Sakura. Nightingale won the title by defeating Mercedes Mone last month in a tournament.

After his successful defense against Alex Coughlin on Thursday, ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata will look to fend off the title challenge of Lee Moriarty and earn his third title defense.

**********

Taped in San Diego, California. Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur were on commentary for “Championship Friday!”

El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Komander defeated Dralistico (w/ Jose the Assistant) to retain the AAA Mega Championship (10:07).

Vikingo’s 500 days into his title reign, or halfway into a ridiculous celebration and his cousins turning on him. Dralistico got the first near fall of the match with a slingshot senton. The crowd was very into this match. Komander got hung up in the ropes, and Dralistico took him out with a double stomp. Vikingo then flew into the action with a moonsault to the floor, which popped the crowd. Vikingo hit an implosion hurricanrana, then followed up with a Phoenix Splash (started outside of the ring and facing the wrong way, no big deal). JR is so impressed with the action he will give the winner a barbeque sauce. He should throw in his seasoning, too. That stuff is great.

During the split-screen break, Jose helped Dralistico set up a table on the floor. Well, Jose is an assistant.

After the break, Dralistico and Komander worked in the ring while Vikingo hid on the floor, continuing the pattern of two guys working in the ring while the third hid. Komander tried a crazy springboard hurricanrana, but it didn’t really work. Dralistico took a bump to the floor anyway. Komander followed his opponents out ot the floor with a rope walk moonsault to the floor. Badk in the ring, Komander hit a rope walk 450 for a near fall. Vikingo took Komander down with an inverted hurricanrana, then put him through the table with a 630 springboard senton.

Back in the ring, Vikingo countered a powerbomb from Dralistico with a hurricanrana and a cradle and got the pinfall.

Spectacular insanity.

– Let’s go back to January when Aubrey Edwards made some fair calls that didn’t go Jeff Jarrett’s way. And then six months later, Karen Jarrett kept  Aubrey Edwards from doing the same thing at Double or Nothing by thwacking her with a guitar. Backstage, Mark Briscoe and Aubrey Edwards attacked Jarrett and his crew in the middle of an interview with Lexi Nair.

Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Action Andretti to retain the NJPW Television Championship (10:15)

Crowd was behind Sabre. Andretti tried to hang with Sabre, but he was very clearly out of his depth on the mat. Sabre got a wristlock on Andretti, who tried four different escapes before one finally worked. Andretti hit a springboard tornio for a near fall, then sent Sabre to the floor with a springboard hurricanrana. Sabre tied up Andretti in the ropes with an armbar, then sent Andretti down to the mat by yanking down on his arm. Sabre continued to work over Andretti’s arm and leveled him with forearms in the corner. Sabre locked in a hammerlock and a body scissors, but Andretti was able to power Sable over with a suplex.

Andretti hit a springboard kick for a near fall. Sabre caught Andretti with a kick to the arm to regain the advantage. Andretti hit a jumping enziguri and an avalanche hurricanrana for a near fall. Andretti picked up Sabre in a torture rack, but Sabre countered by grabbing him in a choke. Andretti hit a superkick and a poisoned rana for a near fall. Andretti hit a shotgun dropkick and a spit-legged moonsault for a near fall. Andretti came off the ropes with a springboard, but Sabre yanked him out of the air with an armbar, then tied both of Andretti’s arms up with his legs and got the submission. Great match!

Willow Nightingale defeated Emi Sakura to retain the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship (8:00 aired)

JR wished Mercedes Mone a speedy recovery on commentary. Both women fought over a suplex on the ring apron, but Sakrua used an eye poke to get the advantage. She sent Nightingale to the floor with a crossbody, then threw her into the barricade as the show went to break.

After the break, Nightingale hit a shotgun dropkick off the middle rope for a near fall. Sakura hit a CrossRhodes variation for a near fall, then a twisting senton for a near fall. Nightingale hit a low crossbody for a near fall. Sakura tried for La Magistral’s cradle, but Nightingale powered out. Sakura hit a sitout Jay Driller, but Nightingale came back with a pounce and a cannonball. Nightingale finished off Sakura with a lariat and an awesome Doctor Bomb to get the pinfall. The crowd was very into this match as well.

– New for Dynamite Wednesday: MJF makes an appearance, and Jungle Boy & Hook take on Dralistico & Preston Vance in a Texas Tornado match.

– The next Ring of Honor pay-per-view, Death Before Dishonor, was announced for July 21st in Trenton, New Jersey.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Lee Moriarty to retain the ROH Pure Championship (9:09).

The pure rules: a 20-count outside the ring, each competitor gets 3 rope breaks, and no closed fist strikes.

Periodically a timer is shown on the screen. It’s barely a minute into the match before Moriarty had to use his first rope break. Moriarty caught Shibata with a dropkick to the knee. Moriarty worked over Shibata’s knee during the split screen break.

After the break, Shibata had Moriarty locked in a figure-four, and Moriarty had to use his second rope break. Shibata hit a diving dropkick in the corner on Moriarty, then suplexed him out of the corner for a near fall. Moriarty used his third rope break (I don’t think he meant to), but then locked in the Border City Stretch. Shibata countered with a cradle, then ran into a forearm. Shibata locked Moriarty in a sleeper. Moriarty faded, and Shibata finished him off with a PK kick for the pinfall.

After the match, Daniel Garcia came to the ring and stood face-to-face with Shibata, who held his Pure Championship belt up for the crowd.

Final Thoughts:

This show was excellent in the ring and the crowd was into every match.

Four title defenses set for ‘Championship Friday’ AEW Rampage

A “Championship Friday” edition of AEW Rampage will feature four title defenses — none of which will include actual AEW titles.

In the featured bout, AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo will put his title on the line against Dralistico and Komander in a three-way. Vikingo has held the gold for more than 540 days and this will be his fifth appearance on AEW TV.

NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. will make his AEW Rampage debut when he defends against Action Andretti. Sabre Jr. will defend his title Thursday against Rocky Romero as part of ROH TV on HonorClub.

Ring of Honor Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata will defend his title against Lee Moriarty. That is coming on the heels of a Shibata title defense against Alex Coughlin, also on ROH TV on HonorClub.

Inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale will have her first title defense as she takes on Emi Sakura.

Here’s the lineup being taped Wednesday in San Diego, California:

  • AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo defends against Dralistico and Komander in a three-way
  • ROH TV Champion Katsuyori Shibata defends against Lee Moriarty
  • NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale defends against Emi Sakura
  • NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. defends against Action Andretti

Willow Nightingale crowned first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion

Willow Nightingale is the first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.

Nightingale defeated Mercedes Mone in a tournament final in the main event of Sunday’s NJPW Resurgence pay-per-view to claim the title.

Nightingale scored the pinfall victory in the main event after an apparent leg injury to Mone seemed to cut the match short. Mone appeared to injure her right leg after jumping from the top rope to the floor while dropping Nightingale’s neck across the top rope, as Mone seemed unable to put any weight on her leg after the move.

Video of the apparent injury:

Mone climbed back into the ring and attempted to continue the match, but the match quickly came to an end shortly after. Nightingale hit one powerbomb to Mone, who did not kick out of a pinfall, but the referee held up his count.

Immediately following the first powerbomb and the stopped count, Nightingale connected with a second powerbomb, this time for the finish.

Mone was carried out of the ring after the match.

Both Nightingale and Mone competed earlier in the evening in the one-night tournament, with Mone defeating Stephanie Vaquer, and Nightingale defeating Momo Kohgo.

AEW Dark results: Matt Taven vs. Brian Pillman Jr.

This week’s four-match AEW Dark lineup was taped at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Matt Taven defeated Brian Pillman Jr.

Taven and Pillman started off by exchanging wristlocks. Pillman followed one up with a chop to Taven who responded with a dropkick.

After a back-and-forth running sequence, Pillman trapped Taven’s head in the corner and bounced it off the turnbuckle on a few separate occasions before attempting an unsuccessful pin.

Taven took control, trying to work down the shoulders of Pillman. The crowd willed Pillman back into the match, allowing him to take down Taven with a few running strikes and a Northern Lights suplex.

Pillman was seemingly on his way to winning the match, but Taven rolled out of the way of Pillman’s senton attempt from the top rope. Moments later, he drilled Pillman with his signature DDT to win the match.

Lee Johnson defeated Blake Li

Johnson started off in full control, nailing Li with a few different strikes before sending him crashing to the mat with a suplex. Moments later, Johnson hit Li with a fisherman’s neckbreaker to pick up the victory.

– Toni Storm cut a promo about the rampage she’s been on recently against the “homegrown” stars of AEW. Storm finished by saying that every girl in her way is going to get what is coming to them.

Josh Woods defeated Daisy K

Although Daisy K tried to show off his strength on a few different occasions, nearly all of them backfired. Woods eventually blasted him with a knee strike before hitting him with a move that Taz described as the West Palm Beach Oil Rigger, leading to the successful pinfall.

– Lance Archer cut a promo about wanting better opponents, citing that things are going too easy for him at the moment.

Willow Nightingale defeated Diamante

Diamante started out by applying an arm submission attempt on Nightingale who escaped with ease. Nightingale followed up the escape by planting Diamante with a variation of a side slam for a quick near fall.

Diamante gained the upper hand after blasting Nightingale off the apron with a dropkick to the back. Diamante followed up that by stretching Nightingale’s back across the ring post before rolling her back in the ring.

Diamante then positioned Nightingale on the top turnbuckle, allowing “The Babe With Power” to send her across the ring with a shotgun dropkick. Nightingale followed up with a standing spinebuster for another near fall.

Moments later, Nightingale finished off Diamante with a doctor bomb to score the win.

Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman are on the call as we open with our first of three title matches.

ROH World TV Title: Samoa Joe defeated Tony Deppen to retain

A fine opener. Deppen didn’t get much offense in, but he hung with Joe well enough.

Joe took control early on, peppering Deppen with heavy strikes that sent him to the mat. Deppen came back with chops of his own before getting flattened by a Joe back elbow for a nearfall. Joe clubbered on Deppen in the corner before Deppen fought his way out with more strikes. Joe sent Deppen into the corner and dropped him with a body block and enzuigiri.

Joe brought Deppen to the top rope, but Deppen fought him off and hit a missile dropkick. Deppen came over the ropes and hit a stunner for a nearfall. There was a mix-up in the corner that ended with a Deppen nearfall for two. Joe hit the uranage out of the corner, but Deppen reversed the rear naked choke with a roll-up for two. Joe sent Deppen into the corner and took him down with the Muscle Buster for the pin and the win.

– After the match, Samoa Joe took the mic and said no matter the era, he runs ROH. He made a challenge for anyone to step up and make a challenge for the TV Title. Mark Briscoe made his way to the stage. He said that the TV Title was his destiny and made the challenge, which Joe quickly accepted.

– Backstage, Dalton Castle lamented the loss of the ROH Six-Man Titles to The Embassy and “that pennyfart” Prince Nana. He says that after moving dense furniture all weekend, him and The Boys are ready to take the titles back.

Dalton Castle & The Boys defeated Marcus Kross, Cody Chhun, & Guillermo Rosas

The women in the crowd shrieked in excitement when Castle’s music hit. I can’t say I blame them. Castle told Kross to fire up before immediately catching him in position for the Bangarang, but Kross hooked the ropes and sent Castle to the floor. After getting the Boys to limber him up, Castle got back in the ring and took Kross down. After a tag to Rosas, The Boys got in and hit stereo offense for a nearfall as Castle worked the crowd into a fever pitch on the floor.

Rosas tagged out to Chhun, and they isolated Boy Brandon. After avoiding a double stomp from Kross, Boy Brandon tagged out to Castle, who flung all three of his opponents around with aplomb. After sending the Boys flying to the outside onto their opponents, Castle dropped Rosas with the Bangarang for the win.

– Maria Kanellis-Bennett introduced Mike Bennett and Matt Taven for a promo. The Kingdom talked themselves up as being champions wherever they’ve gone, with Bennett calling out Top Flight for ruining their ROH return.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush & Dralistico) defeated Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) (w/ Dr. Luther)

Angelico, Serpentico, Dralistico. This is gonna be a challenge. Rush and Angelico started off, with Rush hammering Angelico with a chop. Angelico tagged in Serpentico, who tried hitting Rush with chops before getting drilled by a chop of his own. Dralistico came in with a springboard crossbody and a flurry of kicks.

Rush tagged back in, with him and Dralistico sending both of their opponents to the floor with strike combinations. Dralistico hit a dive onto SAP, with Rush following up with a feigned dive before hitting his pose. Rush and Dralistico beat them down on the floor, with Rush hitting Angelico with his trademark cable. Back in the ring, Dralistico hit an assisted springboard legdrop for a nearfall. Serpentico tried firing up, but LFI had none of it and put the boots to him.

Some wires got crossed up before Dralistico got on the apron and hooked Serpentico in the ropes. Serpentico ducked a Rush strike that hit Dralistico. Serpentico dived onto Dralistico on the floor before taking a headbutt from Rush. Angelico cut off the Bull’s Horns, but got taken down with a Meteora from Dralistico. Dralistico hit a destroyer on Serpentico for the win. After the match, they ripped Serpentico’s mask off his head and tore it in half.

Trish Adora defeated Billie Starkz

Adora worked on the arm of Starkz to start. Starkz sent Adora to the floor and tried a dive, but Adora caught her with a forearm in the ropes. Adora dropped Starkz with a bodyslam on the apron before getting a nearfall in the ring. Adora hit a very delayed German Suplex for another nearfall before locking on the Cattle Mutilation, sending Starkz to the ropes to break.

Starkz booted Adora in the corner, but Adora responded with a boot of her own for a nearfall. They traded forearms, with Starkz hitting a spin kick out of it. But Adora immediately followed with the Lariat Tubman for the win.

– Lexy Nair interviewed Christopher Daniels. Daniels talked up wanting the ROH World Tag Team Titles. He wanted to team with Frankie Kazarian again, but he honored his word as SCU lost the right to team up back in 2020. But he’s had several partners in his career, one of them being Matt Sydal. Sydal accepted the offer, and Daniels told the other teams in ROH to say their prayers.

Ari Daivari & Slim J (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) defeated Jake Crist & Jake Manning

I’m going to get very tired of hearing the Trustbusters music on this show.

Slim J gave Daivari a matching t-shirt as they made their way to the ring. We have a lot of bits going on, as Manscout Manning was reading a scout’s guide as the bell rang. Daivari threw the book away and got started with the match. Crist quickly tagged in and ran wild on Daivari before missing a crossbody. Manning tagged in, taking a lariat from Daivari after a knee to the back from Slim J. Slim J tagged in and dropped Manning with a springboard reverse DDT. Slim J locked on an STF on Manning and scored the win.

After the match, Daivari talked trash about Metalik, which brought the luchador out to the ring. The Trustbusters stomped on him before Blake Christian ran them off with a chair.

ROH Pure Championship: Wheeler Yuta defeated Timothy Thatcher to retain

While I’m not usually a fan of Thatcher’s work, this was a quality Pure Title match. The Blackpool Combat Club’s new heel-leaning tendencies were reflected here, with Yuta using an edge and cheating outright at the end of this match.

The judges for this match were BJ Whitmer, Colt Cabana, and Christopher Daniels.

Thatcher immediately locked on a Fujiwara armbar, sending Yuta to the ropes to use his first rope break. Thatcher controlled Yuta’s arms, denying Yuta’s attempts to escape. Thatcher jammed Yuta’s arm into the mat before hitting a body slam and an elbow drop for a one count. He did it again, but Yuta fought out of a third attempt and turned it into an Octopus Hold. Thatcher used his first rope break to get out of it.

Thatcher avoided a bicep stomp and took Yuta down with a single-leg, but Yuta went right back to the arm. Thatcher sat Yuta on the top rope, but Yuta brought Thatcher down by the shoulder. Thatcher started throwing European uppercuts to try and escape, but Yuta kept on the left arm. Thatcher fired up and hit a big belly-to-belly suplex but couldn’t follow up with a cover. Yuta stuffed a double underhook suplex attempt and used a hammerlock variant to force Thatcher to use his second armbar.

They traded uppercuts before Yuta sent Thatcher back to the mat with the same hammerlock variant. Thatcher fought back up and drove Yuta into the corner with uppercuts with the good arm. Yuta fought out of the corner with a closed fist, which earned a warning from the referee. Yuta hit the Right Angle Slam for a nearfall, which used Thatcher’s final rope break.

Thatcher sent Yuta into the ropes, but Yuta rebounded through the ropes and caught Thatcher with a German suplex. Thatcher kicked out and locked on an armbar to force Yuta’s second rope break. Thatcher strung offense together, scoring nearfalls with a back suplex and a butterfly suplex. Thatcher drove his knees into Yuta, who had to slide to the ropes and use his final rope break.

Thatcher dropped Yuta with another uppercut, sending Yuta to the floor. Thatcher shoved the referee out of the way, allowing Yuta to hit an illegal closed fist to Thatcher in the ropes. Yuta tied Thatcher in the ropes with a Cobra Twist to score the tap out.

– After the match, Yuta called out the tracksuit wearing LA Dojo boys for thinking that they’ve accomplished something. Clark Connors made his way to the ring to respond. He says that all three of Yuta’s BCC teammates wish that they trained under Katsuyori Shibata before making a challenge for the Pure Title next week. Yuta blew him off and left, but turned around on the ramp and told him that the match was on.

Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) defeated Rhett Titus & Tracy Williams

A great introduction for Aussie Open on ROH television. They showed off their impressive offense here and got a great response from the crowd by the end of the match.

After an opening exchange with all four men, Aussie Open took control with a flurry of offense on Titus. Fletcher started a delayed vertical suplex before tagging Davis in so he could take hold and complete it. Titus fought out of the corner and tagged in Williams, who ran wild on Fletcher with a high-angle suplex and a DDT off of the second rope for a nearfall.

Fletcher fought off a piledriver attempt, sending Williams to the apron. Williams sent Fletcher to the floor, but missed a running knee. Davis and Fletcher picked up Titus and Williams and ran them into each other. Back in the ring, Aussie Open hit the Dental Plan and the assisted cutter on Williams for a nearfall. Aussie Open hit dual forearms, but Williams fought off the Dental Plan and hit La Mistica on Davis before locking on an armbar. Titus caught Fletcher in a submission as well, but both men caught the ropes.

Titus and Williams ran wild on Fletcher, scoring a nearfall with a flurry of offense. They isolated Fletcher, hitting a diving knee and top rope splash back-to-back for a nearfall. Fletcher caught Williams with a spinning tombstone before Davis took out Titus with a pull-up piledriver. A pair of lariats set Aussie Open up to hit Coreolis for the win.

Eddie Kingston defeated Ben Dejo

Kingston hit the machine gun chops, a Saito suplex, and a backfist to win in under a minute. He made sure to adhere to the Code of Honor, shaking Dejo’s limp hand after the match.

– Kingston took the mic after the match and called out ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli. Kingston told Castagnoli to give him his shot, but Castagnoli said that a man without honor would never hold the ROH World Title and left. Kingston followed him to the back, but still got no answer.

– We got promos from champion and challenger for the ROH Women’s Title match main event.

ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena defeated Willow Nightingale to retain

A fantastic main event. Athena has earned a spot as one of the best women’s wrestlers in America today with the level of intensity and viciousness she brings to her big matches. Nightingale had this crowd behind her from the jump and hung with Athena every step of the way. This was the best match of ROH’s Honor Club run to date.

Nightingale scored the first pin attempt after a running crossbody, before following it up with suplexes for a nearfall. Nightingale hit a big chop to Athena in the corner, but Athena yanked Nightingale’s arm over the rope to take control. Athena clubbered on Nightingale in the corner before mockingly cheering herself on to boos. Nightingale kicked Athena’s knee out, but Athena kept control with a top wristlock.

Athena missed a senton, allowing Nightingale to attempt several flash pins. Nightingale went for an O’Connor Roll, but Athena ducked and sent Nightingale throat-first into the ropes. Athena sent Nightingale onto the apron, where she hit a big kick and a baseball slide to send Nightingale to the floor. Athena trapped Nightingale’s arm in the stairs, and after ramming her other shoulder into the post, Athena dropkicked the stairs into Nightingale’s trapped arm.

Athena baseball slid into Nightingale as she tried to get into the ring, but Nightingale caught her on a kick and powerbombed Athena into the apron. Nightingale followed with a Spicolli Driver on the floor that left both women laid out. Both women got back in the ring at the count of 19, where Nightingale ran wild with offense. Nightingale hit a main event spinebuster – in the actual main event – before attempting the Babe With The Powerbomb. But Nightingale’s arm couldn’t hold, allowing Athena to catch her in a crossface. Nightingale got to the ropes, but Athena followed with running knees into the corner.

Athena hit a big facebuster, but Nightingale kicked out, earning This Is Awesome chants from the crowd. Athena went to the top rope, but Nightingale caught her with a Pounce to score a nearfall. Athena went for a springboard, but Nightingale caught her in the gutwrench and hit the Babe With The Powerbomb for another nearfall. Athena took a powder, but Nightingale followed her onto the stage. Athena clawed at Nightingale’s eyes and dropped her on the ramp with a forward slam. After running Nightingale into the stairs, Athena rolled her into the ring and hit the O-Face for the win.

– After the match, Athena menaced the referee before hitting Nightingale with the title belt on the outside. Athena hit the running knees to Nightingale into the stairs to boos as the show faded out.

AEW Dark results: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Jack Cartwheel

AEW announced 12 matches earlier Tuesday for this week’s episode of Dark, but only aired seven for some reason. These were taped last weekend at the Cow Palace in Daly City, California.

Skye Blue defeated Mylo

Blue was going through the motions for a quick win when Mylo suddenly kicked her right off the apron. After delivering a blistering chop and a slingshot suplex, Mylo hooked the leg and got a nearfall.

Blue got back in the match by hitting Mylo with a neckbreaker which was quickly followed up by a knee strike. Seconds later, Blue finished off Mylo by hitting a superkick followed by her signature flatliner.

Blue will face Ruby Soho on Dynamite.

Brian Cage (w/ Prince Nana) defeated Bad Dude Tito

Cage and Tito exchanged holds during the early going, but the slow pace quickly picked up when Cage launched Tito over his head with a float-over German suplex. Tito responded with a sliding lariat, which fired up the crowd.

Tito went to follow up, but Cage sent him out to the apron. Cage tried to hit Tito with his suplex from outside the ring back into the ring, but Tito turned it into a floating neckbreaker for a near fall. Tito then hit Cage with a spinning kick and a blue thunder bomb for another great near fall.

Cage finally straightened up and hit Tito with a spinning lariat, followed by a power bomb. Cage would go on to submit Tito with a cloverleaf variation.

Lance Archer defeated Cody Chhun & Guillermo Rosas in a handicap match

Rosas and Chhun tried to beat down Archer in the early stages, but the “Murderhawk Monster” simply dove on to them with a crossbody from the second rope. Seconds later, Archer tossed Chhun out of the ring and pinned Rosas after destroying him with a short arm lariat.

Konosuke Takeshita defeated Jack Cartwheel

Takeshita started off in control, but Cartwheel was able to, well, cartwheel his way out of trouble and hit a big dive on Takeshita on the outside. After rolling him back in the ring, Cartwheel sprung onto Takeshita for another cartwheel-based flip for a near fall.

Takeshita clocked Cartwheel with a forearm and then a lariat to bring his momentum to a halt. Seconds later, Takeshita nailed Cartwheel with a blue thunder bomb and a running knee strike to pick up his third straight victory.

Big Bill defeated Julius Coleman

After dominating him in the early stages, Bill threw Coleman over the top rope with ease and sent him crashing to the floor. The match was quickly finished after Bill pinned Coleman after a chokeslam.

Willow Nightingale defeated Zoe Dubois

Nightingale hit Dubois with a series of suplexes to start before nailing her with a spinebuster for a near fall. Nightingale finished off Dubois moments later after planting her with a Doctor Bomb.

After the match, Athena tried to attack Nightingale with the ROH Women’s title belt. Instead, Nightingale ducked out of the way and sent Athena running to the back. These two square off on Thursday’s ROH TV.

AR Fox defeated Ryan Nemeth

Within the opening stages, Fox was already doing crazy stuff as he vaulted off the ring post onto Nemeth for a fantastic moonsault. Nemeth regained control after pushing Fox to the floor on the outside of the ring. When they made it back in the ring, Nemeth stomped a mudhole in Fox in the corner.

Fox regained control with the help of the crowd, popping Nemeth with a strike while he was showboating on the second rope. After hitting Nemeth with a cutter, Fox came off the top rope with a 450 splash to pick up the victory to end this week’s show.

AEW, ROH wrestlers pulled from Beyond Wrestling event

Update —

After initially stating that Willow Nightingale would no longer be appearing, Beyond Wrestling has announced that Nightingale will still be in action at Perfection or Vanity.

**********

Due to an apparent conflict with ROH television tapings, three wrestlers have been pulled from an upcoming Beyond Wrestling event.

Beyond Wrestling announced today that Wheeler Yuta, Tracy Williams, and Trish Adora will no longer be appearing at their Perfection or Vanity show in Worcester, Massachusetts on Sunday, February 26. Voices of Wrestling and Fightful have reported that ROH is scheduled to hold TV tapings that weekend.

“Wheeler YUTA, Tracy Williams, and Trish Adora will no longer be appearing or competing at ‘Perfection Or Vanity’ on Sunday, 2/26 at White Eagle in Worcester,” Beyond Wrestling tweeted. “Email [email protected] if you’d like a refund.”

Yuta is signed to AEW and is part of the Blackpool Combat Club with Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and Claudio Castagnoli. Williams and Adora, who were both part of the ROH roster prior to the promotion being purchased by Tony Khan, have made appearances for AEW as well.

Adora was also in action at ROH Final Battle this past December, losing to Nightingale on the pre-show.

Yuta currently holds the ROH Pure Championship. He regained the title by defeating Daniel Garcia at Final Battle.

It was announced in December that a weekly ROH TV series would be coming to HonorClub, though no start date was given. These tapings at the end of February would be the first for the weekly series.

ROH’s next pay-per-view is Supercard of Honor 2023, which is taking place in Los Angeles on Friday, March 31.

Willow Nightingale officially signs with AEW

Willow Nightingale is All Elite.

After defeating Leila Grey on Friday’s Rampage, Tony Schiavone entered the ring and officially announced that Nightingale was All Elite, showing the graphic on screen. Nightingale hugged Tony Schiavone upon hearing the news, but was soon forced to exit the ring once Jade Cargill entered the ring.

Tony Khan soon after posted the graphic on social media.

“Congratulations @willowwrestles! Welcome to the team! Willow Nightingale is ALL ELITE!” Khan wrote.

Nightingale first started making AEW appearances back in April of 2021. Those appearances started to pick up the following year, participating in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament and wrestling Jade Cargill twice for the TBS Championship, most recently at Battle of the Belts IV on October 7.

Nightingale also competed at ROH Supercard of Honor back in April, the first show under the ownership of Tony Khan. On that show, she lost to Mercedes Martinez in a match that was for the interim ROH Women’s Championship.
