Mike Santana vs. Steve Maclin match stopped during TNA Sacrifice

Steve Maclin appeared to be legitimately injured during the main event of TNA Sacrifice on Friday night.

Maclin was challenging Mike Santana for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Just a minute or two into the match, Maclin came off the ropes and Santana hit a superkick. Maclin went down stiffly and stayed down.

Santana attempted to pull Maclin up but was turned away by the referee. TNA President Carlos Silva and medical personnel spent several minutes tending to Maclin.

Eventually Eddie Edwards was sent out to brawl with Santana as Maclin was escorted from the ring. After a few minutes of action, Santana laid Edwards across a table on the floor, then put him through it with a splash off the top rope. Santana was then declared “the winner via no-contest,” and he celebrated in the ring as the show went off the air.

Maclin was wrestling for the world title just a few weeks after being fired in storyline, a result of picking the wrong briefcase in the Feast or Fired match. He kept appearing on the show, physically attacking not only Santana but also play-by-play man Tom Hannifan. As a result, TNA hired him back and gave him a World title match on their app special.

Edwards won a World title match in that same Feast or Fired match. Presumably, he will still get that match, and the results of tonight’s show won’t count.

Elsewhere on Sacrifce:

  • Leon Slater defeated Eric Young to retain the X Division Championship.
  • Frankie Kazarian & AJ Francis defeated Elijah and Home Town Man.
  • Tessa Blanchard won a three-way with Dani Luna and Lei Ying Lee to retain the Knockouts Championship.
  • Mustafa Ali & Tasha Steelz defeated Trey Miguel & Jada Stone.
  • Moose defeated Eddie Edwards by DQ after he was attacked by Order 4’s Special Agent Zero.
  • Brian Myers & Cedric Alexander defeated Jeff Hardy & Vincent after a video appeared on the screen showing Vincent’s tag team partner, Dutch, standing over a bloody Matt Hardy backstage.

BVV: Another dumb episode of TNA Impact

Another week, another round of brain cells sacrificed before the altar of terrible television.

The biggest story in TNA these days involves a guy who was fired and then kept committing assault being not only hired back, but also granted a championship match on the main event of a pay per view. It’s a storyline so stupid even the show’s own announcers can’t hide their disgust.

And while two dueling authority figures who hate each other somehow worked together to pull that off, two other authority figures apparently signed their soul over to a teleporting demon.

There was some good wrestling (Nic Nemeth vs. Leon Slater, a four-way tag match) and some bad wrestling (Elayna Black vs. Mara Sade) but that hardly seems to matter anymore.

We’ll suffer through it and then discuss the future of the Big Vinny V Show!

TNA announces re-signing of Steve Maclin

After a storyline where he was briefly “fired” from the promotion, TNA Wrestling has confirmed that Steve Maclin has re-signed with the company.

TNA posted an announcement on Monday saying Maclin has re-signed. No further information about the contract was provided, including whether it’s a long-term deal or not. It was first reported in January that Maclin had extended his contract with TNA.

A former TNA World Champion, Maclin is set to challenge Mike Santana for the title at Sacrifice on March 27. The build to the match included an angle where Maclin was fired from TNA after getting the “fired” briefcase in Feast or Fired. Maclin did not go quietly, though, returning to attack Santana and assault commentator Tom Hannifan. Santana then called for Maclin to be reinstated so he could get his hands on him.

Maclin, a veteran of the United States Marines, previously wrestled for WWE as Steve Cutler. He’s been with TNA since 2021.

Outside of the ring, Maclin co-hosts the podcast Boots to Boots with his wife Deonna Purrazzo. The TNA/AEW couple are putting together an indie event Battle for the Brave this June to benefit the non-profit organization Tunnel to Towers.

Sacrifice 2026 is being held at the Alario Center in Louisiana and will stream on TNA+.

World Championship match announced for TNA Sacrifice

The TNA World Championship match for Sacrifice has been announced.

Despite receiving a pink slip in the Feast or Fired match earlier this year, Steve Maclin will challenge for the promotion’s World Championship at the March 27 event in New Orleans.

On Thursday’s live episode of TNA Impact from Atlanta, The SUIT Daria Rae reinstated Maclin. TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella then came to the stage and made the title match for Sacrifice official.

Santana won the title on the promotion’s AMC debut show on January 15. He has defended it successfully once so far, against former champion Frankie Kazarian at Genesis.

Maclin was involved in a segment on last week’s show that saw him attack Tom Hannifan during an in-ring interview before Santana ran in to make the save. Hannifan said the company was “enabling” Maclin on commentary after he was reinstated.

TNA Sacrifice 2026 will take place at the Alario Center in Westwego, Louisiana. No other matches have been announced for the show thus far.

BVV: TNA Impact is stupid and dumb

Image: TNA Wrestling

The focus of TNA Impact this week was less on wrestling and more on angles and storylines, none of which made the slightest bit of sense.

On this week’s Big Vinny V Show, I go over it all in rich detail.

Why was Alisha Edwards ready to quit, only to suddenly change her mind so she could manage Moose, who is feuding with her husband?

Why is Santino still employed when all of his decisions turn into disasters? Why is Daria Rae, the heel, the one to point out his incompetence, and how is that supposed to make me dislike her?

And for the love of God, why is the show practically built around Steve Maclin, who was supposed to be fired weeks ago? The last question is most important because the live crowd turned on what was supposed to be a main event segment and turned it into a joke.

Along the way, there was some decent wrestling, but it hardly seems relevant. We’ll suffer through it on the Big Vinny V Show!

Former TNA World Champion reportedly signing contract extension

TNA Wrestling’s roster has undergone some changes as it heads into its AMC era that begins this Thursday, but a fixture in the promotion the last few years is reportedly sticking around.

According to a report by PWInsider on Tuesday, former TNA World and International Champion Steve Maclin has come to terms with TNA on a contract extension, but the length of the deal is still unknown.

Maclin last appeared in early-December on TNA, defeating reigning International Champion Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo by DQ.

Maclin debuted in TNA back in June 2021, starting out in the X-Division. He made his way into the World title picture in 2023, winning the vacant title at April 2023’s Rebellion, holding it for just two months before dropping it to Shelley.

He became the TNA International Champion, winning the vacant title at April 2025’s Unbreakable, losing it to Frankie Kazarian five months later. His second reign lasted two months, ending at last December’s Final Resolution.

As of this writing, the 38-year-old has not been added to this Saturday’s Genesis pay-per-view card. As noted on his X account, Maclin is currently taking indie bookings through April.

While TNA has re-upped deals with Cedric Alexander, Home Town Man and Maclin recently, The Rascalz have reportedly hit free agency while Jake Something signed a deal with AEW.

Steve Maclin reveals there were plans for CM Punk TNA feud

If things had gone differently, Steve Maclin could have worked a feud against CM Punk in TNA Wrestling.

Maclin spoke to the Pro Wrestling Illustrated podcast this month and revealed that, if Punk had decided to sign with TNA after being let go from AEW in 2023, there were plans for them to face each other. Scott D’Amore — who was in charge of TNA at the time — attempted to sign Punk after his AEW run but always knew that the prospect was unlikely. Punk returned to WWE instead, where he is the current World Heavyweight Champion.

“If you want some behind-the-scenes dirt that nobody knows about — CM Punk, before [he] almost possibly signed with TNA, was coming in and I was going to be his first challenger, which I found out right as Scott D’Amore was let go,” Maclin said. “We were having dinner one night and [D’Amore] let me know, ‘Yeah, Punk was going to almost sign there and then you were going to be his first challenger.’ I was like, ‘Sh*t!’ Would have been cool, man.”

Maclin noted that he saw Punk backstage at TNA shows in Chicago a few times around this period. Punk remembered Maclin from when he was a WWE extra.

“It was cool to just see him,” Maclin said. “And it was just like — it was fun. I’m like, ‘Oh, CM Punk, what’s up, man?’ He’s like, ‘Oh, what’s up Mr. Maclin?’ I was like, ‘Cool. Good to see you.’ Because he was really good to me when I was an extra at WWE. You always hear the horror stories as an extra, when you say hello to people, like, people shun you and stuff. But he was very respectful, and I never forgot that. That’s always something in wrestling that I never forget is the people that were nice to me on the way up.”

Maclin is a former World Champion and International Champion for TNA.

TNA star Moose has also mentioned that there were plans for him and Punk to feud over the TNA World Championship if Punk ended up coming to TNA.

**********

Pre Show.

The Home Town Man v. Mance Warner (w/ Steph DeLander) v. Jake Something

The crowd is behind the Home Town Man. I’m going to call the Home Town Man “Homer” for short because I’m tired of typing three names for him and calling him “HTM” doesn’t feel right. There’s only one HTM, and that’s the Honky Tonk Man.

Anyway, Homer dominated both his opponents in the opening and got the crowd to cheer for him. Then Jake Something dropped both his opponents with a double clothesline, and got a near fall on Homer with a suplex. Something got dumped to the floor and then The Homer and Warner squared off. DeLander tripped up The Homer, and Warner got a near fall off a choke slam. Warner took down Something with a short bulldog for a near fall.

Warner set up Something for a superplex, so The Homer joined in and turned it into the powerbomb/superplex stacker spot. Homer went to the top, but Something cut him off. Something did a version of the Cactus Clothesline with Warner, and the The Homer came off the top rope with a crossbody to both guys, who were on the floor.

DeLander got into the Homer’s face, and Warner blindsided Homer with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Homer hit the Sliced Bread on Warner, and then Something came in and hit a Black Hole Slam on Homer to get the pinfall.

Match Result: Jake Something won via pinfall on The Home Town Man (7:29)

This was every triple threat match.

— Gia Miller interviewed the YouTube guy  BDE, who promised to make AJ Francis go viral.

The King’s Speech with the new TNA World Champion Frankie Kazarian

Kazarian gave the normal “I’ve worked hard and I deserved this” speech, then lambasted the folks who complained about TNA’s stupid booking on social media. The hatred fulls him. Well his gas tank must be overflowing, because everybody hated last night’s finish. Kazarian also denied having anything to do with the NXT wrestlers attacking Santana last night.

Lacking a guest, Kazarian called up TNA President Carlos Silva. Kazarian wanted to know where Silva was last night to present him with his TNA World Championship, since he usually does that whenever a title changes hands in TNA (or actually, whenever there’s a title match of consequence in TNA). Kazarian gave Carlos the belt and has him present it to him as the new TNA World Champion. Carlos Silva then took the mic, and told Kazarian that TNA will be launching a full investigation into the NXT wrestlers invading TNA last night, and Kazarian is part of that investigation.

The Nemeths came out, Nic Nemeth carrying the trophy. Was there one trophy or were there two? After some bickering and accusations between Nic and Kazarian, Nic lets Kazarian know that he will be calling his shot tonight.

Turning Point Main Show.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

M by Elegance (w/ The Concierge and Heather by Elegance) vs. Kelani Jordan for the TNA Knockouts World Title

M looks like a giant next to the other members of the Elegance Brand, but according to the Tail of the Tape she’s only 5’11”.

M jumped Jordan from behind to start. M cut off a charge from Jordan with a hip attack. Jordan came off the top with a moonsault onto the floor that didn’t look like it hit. They then showed a replay that made it clear Jordan’s moonsault didn’t hit.

Jordan got hung upside down in the ropes, and M slid in with a kick to Jordan’s face. Back in the ring, M buried her knee into Jordan’s midsection and hit a dropkick. Jordan fought back, but M cut her off with a forearm to the back. M delivered a great looking Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.

M tried to wear down Jordan with a surfboard, then took her down with a hair pull. Jordan went for a body scissors but M turned it into a wheelbarrow suplex. M went to a top for the moonsault, but Jordan rolled out of the way and M hit the mat hard.

In the back, the baby face Knockouts were watching the match while M and Jordan struggled to their feet. They exchanged forearms until M cut Jordan down with a pump kick. Jordan hit a superkick. Jordan got a  near fall off a roll up, then hit a cartwheel into a forearm (or maybe a backfist?).

M tried for a suplex, but Jordan escaped and hit an inverted Rocker-dropper type move for a near fall. The crowd must have thought it was a three count, because they voiced their displeasure with the referee. M caught Jordan with a pump kick in the corner, then hit a modified death valley driver for another near fall. The crowd also hated the ref for that near fall too, but a replay showed that wasn’t even close to a three.

Jordan hit a split-legged stunner for another near fall, then locked in a single-leg Boston Crab. If I can be serious for a moment, M escaped by rolling through and sending Jordan into the corner. M tried to follow her into the corner, but Jordan basically stomped her face in, then hit the split-legged moonsault for the pinfall.

Match Result: Jordan pinned M to retain the title (9:41).

After the match, Gia Miller interviewed the other TNA Knockouts about Kelani’s victory. Ryan Nemeth came along to explain to Miller that she was not covering the real news, which was that Ryan wasn’t teaming with his brother. Ryan called Miller “dumb” and wondered why Mara Sade’s hair always looks wet. “We have towels back here!” This might have been the most I’ve ever been entertained by Ryan Nemeth.

— Hannifan and Rehwoldt run down the card for tonight and mention no one has seen Mike Santana all day.

— In the back, Santino Marella demanded to know what NXT General Manager Ava knew about last night’s attack. Ava claimed ignorance. She told Marella to handle the TNA locker room, and she’d handled the NXT one.

The next match is brought to you by the letters A, B, D, E and J.

BDE v. AJ Francis

BDE hit a pair of topes while holding his phone because social media is ridiculous. He then put his phone down and nailed an over the top rope plancha. But back in the ring, Francis floored BDE with a clothesline. Francis tried for a choke slam, but BDE flipped out of it. Francis missed a boot (badly) and BDE went for a sleeper. Francis dropped back on top of BDE to escape that.

Francis whipped BDE into the turnbuckles and BDE went in too low and hit his head against the top turnbuckle. Francis charged into BDE with a running knee, flipped himself over the top rope and landed on his feet. Francis then stretched BDE using the ringpost as a fulcrum. BDE tried a comeback and then got powerbombed on the edge of the ring apron and I dont know how he survived that.

BDE barely avoided being counted out, and Francis stepped on him. BDE started to comeback and came out of the corner with a tornado DDT. BDE hit a springboard cutter, then came off the tope with a springboard dropkick for a near fall. Francis went for a choke slam, but BDE turned that into a Canadian Destroyer. BDE hit a busaiku knee for a near fall.

BDE went for a frog splash, but missed. Francis drove BDE down to the mat with a chokeslam. BDE asked for more, so Francis chokeslammed him again and got the pinfall.

Match Result: AJ Francis pinned BDE (8:36)

TNA Injury Report:

  • Mike Santana’s arm was injured by the NXT invaders last night, but TNA medical hasn’t looked at him because he hasn’t been around.
  • Elijah’s recovery was set back last night by an attack from Mustafa Ali and he is not cleared.
  • Nic Nemeth was also attacked last night, but he’s passed concussion protocol and his cleared for tonight.

— Gia Miller interviewed Steve Maclin, who also hasn’t seen Mike Santana. Santana is starting to come off as kind of a jerk here. Maclin said he would take on Kazarain and Nemeth two on one or ten on one, and then he’ll stack up NXT bodies, too. This was a pretty good promo from the guy who should maybe be the face of the company if Santana isn’t sticking around.

Dani Luna vs. Indi Hartwell in a No-Disqualification Match

Not even a minute into this one, Luna and Hartwell were hitting each other with chairs and kendo sticks while brawling around ringside. Luna rammed Hartwell into a table and stopped for a drink. Hartwell then grabbed the drink and spit it in Luna’s face.

Hartwell looked around underneath the ring and found a bunch of weapons: a stop sign, another kendo stick, chairs and a ladder. Luna used a baseball slide kick into the ladder to knock Hartwell down. Luna then found a ridiculously oversized screwdriver and used it to choke Hartwell.

Hartwell got some separation from Luna and set up a table on the floor. But Luna blinded Hartwell with a bag of powder, then German suplexed her back into the ring at an ugly angle. Luna beat down Hartwell with the stop sign. Luna sent Hartwell into a steel chair headfirst, then hit a sliding clothesline for a near fall.

Luna set up a ladder in one corner and wedged a chair into two other  corners.  Hartwell mounted a brief comeback with a kendo stick. Luna sent Hartwell into a chair headfirst, then hit a slingshot blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Luna grabbed the kendo stick and wore Hartwell out with it, then used the kendo stick to choke Hartwell out. Hartwell eventually powered up and escaped the hold by backing Luna into the chair-covered ringpost. Hartwell then whipped Luna into the ladder.

Hartwell hit a spinebuster into the ladder for a near fall. These two are just killing each other with weapons but it didn’t feel like the crowd was reacting much. They fought over to the ropes, and Hartwell booted Luna onto the table. Hartwell then came off the top with an eblowdrop to put Luna through the table, and the crowd responded with a “TNA!” chant. Breaking a table always gets a reaction.

Hartwell pulled Luna back into the ring with a full nelson (to set up the Hurts Donut). Luna pulled Hartwell up into a fireman’s carry, but Hartwell reversed it into the Hurts Donut and Luna went facefirst into the edge of the back of a set up steel chair. Not the seat. The edge of the back. Maybe she got her hand up in time? Anyway Hartwell got the pinfall.

Match Result: Indi Hartwell pinned Dani Luna (14:04).

This was probably a bit too long, but I think Luna may have won for losing. She looked really good here.

— In the back, Ava told Santino that she’s got extra security for tonight (which the commentators have said earlier in the night were hired by Santino). Santino said he went to Costco and got a bunch of cameras that will send pictures to his phone via Bluetooth… that he hasn’t set up yet.

Mila Moore & Victoria Crawford vs. The Angle Warriors (Xia Brookside and Léi Yîng Lee) vs. The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) in a Triple Threat match for the TNA Knockouts Championship

The IInspiration were dressed like referees for some reason. Tessa Blanchard, who was originally scheduled for the match, came out in street clothes. She announced that  she has not been medically cleared tonight (probably should have mentioned that on the injury report), and introduced her replacement, “The Bombshell” Mila Moore.

After a schomzz to start, Lee suplexed Moore into the ring. Crawford and Moore worked over Lee in their corner, mostly by sending her head into the turnbuckles. Moore locked in a chinlock. Moore took Lee down with a hair pull, then stomped her.

Moore hit both the IInspiration in the corner with a weak-looking clothesline to send them both to the floor. Lee eventually got the tag to Brookside, who took down Moore with a tijeras. Brookside came off the top with a crossbody for a near fall. Moore hit a boot on Brookside for a near fall which literally everyone else broke up.

So the match broke down into a six way brawl. Brookside hit Crawford with a lung blower. Moore dropped Brookside, then Lee superkicked Moore. Moore and Lee fought on the apron, where Lee pulled Moore into the ringpost. Lee hit Crawford and Moore with a crossbody to take them out of the match. But, back in the ring, the IINspiration hit their finisher on Brookside and got the pinfall.

Match Result: The IInspiration retained the championships when Cassie Lee pinned Brookside (8:28)

After the match, TNA President Carlos Silva presented the champions with their belts, and they danced.

The Hardys (Matt & Jeff) & Cedric Alexander v. Mustafa Ali, Jason Hotch & John Skyler (w/ Agent Zero & Tasha Steelz)

One fan was so freaked out to meet Jeff Hardy she literally had to be restrained by security. This was easily the most up the crowd was so far.

Alexander and Hotch started out for their teams, picking up where they left off last night with Cedric getting a near fall after a PK kick. Matt came off the middle rope with an elbow, and then worked over Hotch’s arm. Hotch escaped with an elbow and got the tag to Skyler who walked into a hiptoss from Matt. Matt then deleted Skyler’s head into the turnbuckles.

Ali got the tag and Matt backdropped him to the floor. Matt dumped Skyler to the floor as well, and then the Hardys and Alexander tripled up on Hotch to powerbomb him over the top ropes onto his partners on the floor. The Order 4 huddled up with Steelz to regroup.

Ali and Alexander squared off in the ring. Alexander caught Ali with a pop-up sitout powerbomb for a near fall. Ali hit one of his partners with a kick, then caught a German suplex form Alexander. Ali raked Alexander’s eyes and dumped him to the floor, where Agent Zero hit him with a big boot.

The Hardys and Order 4 squared up on the floor, but eventually things cooled down and the match got back in the ring, with Ali taking over on Alexander. Skyler hit Alexander with a short-arm clothesline. Alexander dumped him to the mat with a Michinoku Driver. Alexander caught Hotch with an enziguri, but Ali pulled Matt down to the mat before Alexander could tag Matt in.

Hotch went for the rolling neckbreaker again, and this time he rolled his way into a death valley driver from Alexander. Matt Hardy got the tag and took Skyler down with a side effect. Matt went for the Twist of Fate, but Skyler countered. Hardy went for another side effect, but he either couldn’t get Skyler up, or Skyler sandbagged him and they both kind of awkwardly fell.

Ali hit Matt with a foreign object to gain a brief advantage for his team, but Matt dropped Ali with a DDT. Jeff Hardy got the tag and caught Hodge with a neckbreaker and a splash for a near fall. The Hardys hit Hotch with the Poetry in Motion. Jeff hit a Twist of Fate on Hotch into a Lumbar Check from Alexander for another near fall when Hotch’s teammates broke up the pin attempt.

Ali dumped Matt to the floor, and Alexander hit Hotch with a flatliner. Skyler sling-shotted himself through the ropes with a spear. Jeff went to set up a Swanton, but Steelz got in the ring to interfere. Matt intervened and took Steelz and Hotch out with a double Twist of Fate. Agent Zero then pulled the ref out of the ring.

With the ref out, Agent Zero got in the ring but the Hardys got chairs and sent him all the way to the back with chair shots. But this left Alexander alone with three opponents. Ali hit Alexander with a low blow, and then rolled him up in a small package to get the pinfall.

Match Result: Mustafa Ali’s Team wins when Ali pinned Alexander after the Hardys abandoned their partner (13:34)

The System (Moose, JDC, Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers) (w/ Alisha Edwards) vs. The Rascals (Trey Miguel, Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz, Dezmond Xavier)

Xavier made his return to the Rascalz (and TNA) tonight.

The story of this match was the power of the System against the speed of the Rascals. And it was crazy fun with a lot of unique double, triple, and quadruple teams.

JDC started out with Reed. He took down Reed with a head scissors while Hannifan rattled off a list of accomplishments which included “beating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania.” Edwards tossed Wentz over his head with a belly to belly throw. Xavier got the tag, as did Moose. Moose missed a charge on Xavier in the corner, and the the four Rascalz swarmed all over Moose with an offensive flurry. That got a near fall, and then one chop put Wentz down.

Myers got the tag and wore down Wentz with a chinlock. Wentz came back with a handspring into a knee to Myers’ chin. Edwards and Zavier got tags, and Xavier put Edwards down with a cutter. Xavier caught Myers with a dropkick, then took Edwards down with a spinning DDT.

Edwards got Xavier with an enziguri and pulled him out of the corner with a backpack stunner. Moose got the tag and hit Xavier with a dropkick to send him over the top. Moose slammed Reed down with an uranagi, then hit a senton. Moose made Xavier go to hell (hanging tree sitout powerbomb) for a near fall. JDC dove in with knee onto Xavier, who was powerslammed by Moose. The Rascalz triple-teamed Moose.

Xaiver went for a plancha to the floor on Moose, who caught him and powerbombed him on the apron (but well into the middle of the apron so he didn’t kill him… AJ Francis take notes). More dives from both teams followed, ending with Reed jumping over the top ropes and pulling Myers down with a cutter in a pile of all their opponents on the floor.

Back in the ring, The System all dropped big moves on Xaiver and went for a pin, but Migeul dove off the top with a meteora to break up the pin attempt. Miguel ran the ropes and ran right into a boot from Moose.Edwards hit Miguel with a spear. Two of the Rascalz help up JDC in a torture rack, and the other two dove off the top and double-stomped JDC.  Someone went for a cover on JDC, but Moose broke that up by powerbombing Miguel onto the pin attempt.

Reed went for a cutter, but Moose pulled Reed into a headbutt. Moose dove off the top but Reed caught him with a cutter anyway. And Wentz followed up with another cutter.  Xavier then finished of JDC with a twisting senton off the top (the Spiral Tap) for get the pinfall.

Match Result: The Rascalz won when Dezmond Xavier pinned JDC (14:20)

Eric Young confronted Santino Marella and blamed Marella for all of TNA’s problems. So Marella booked last night’s finish? Marella pointed the finger at Young, so Young warned Marella that the Cleanse is Coming.

Rich Swann v. Leon Slater for the TNA X-Division Championship

Some great mat work from Slater to start. He worked Swann with a cravat. Swann caught Slater with a rana and a dropkick. Slater responded by dumping Swann to the floor with a big boot and following him out with a slingshot plancha.

Back in the ring, Slater backed Swann into the corner with a chop. Slater followed him in with a running boot. In another corner, Slater charged into him with a forearm. Slater tried another charge, but Swann caught him with a boot. Swann followed that up with a somersault into a clothesline.

Swann went for a rolling splash, but Slater got his knees up. Swann backdropped Slater over the top and Slater smacked his face against the floor or the ring steps and everyone freaked out. The ref held up Swann in the ring while the ringside doctor checked on Slater on the floor. The doctor looked at Slater’s eye, and held up two fingers, which Slater signaled back he could see. Swann dropped to the floor and charged at Slater, who caught him with a leg lariat. Slater struggled to go to the top rope and dove into a superkick from Swann.

The match continued the match while a replay showed that Slater did catch the ring steps with his face. Or maybe he managed to get his hand in the way?

Back in the ring, Slater hit Swann with a spinning tombstone. Slater was still favoring his eye. Swann went in with a punch to the eye. Slater hit Swann with a slingshot cutter for a near fall. Slater went for a Styles Clash, but Swann kicked Slater in the eye to break that up. Swann hit Slater with another kick, then came off the top with a splash for a near fall. Swann kept going after Slater’s eye so if it was a legit injury they did a great job of working it into the match.

Slater and Swann exchanged chops and Swann hit some rabbit punches. Slater caught Swann with utopia (helicopter slam). Slater went for the Swanton 450, but Swann moved out of the way. Slater tried for another slingshot cutter, and a series of reversals lead to a rana and near fall for Swann.  Swann came off the middle ropes with a 450 splash for a near fall.

Swann went to the top, but Slater caught up with him. Slater got up with Swann and him a stiff shot. Swann went back to the eye with a headbutt, but Slater popped up and pulled Swann down to the mat. Slater hit Swann with the Styles Clash for another near fall. Slater followed that up with the Swanton 450 and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Leon Slater retained via pinfall on Rich Swann (14:04)

This was very good but not on the level of Slater/Evans from Bound for Glory. Slater and Swann hugged after the match, with Swann showing Slater respect.

Slater was selling the eye after the match when Gia Miller interviewed him at ringside. Miller stopped to take a moment to honor Slater’s grandmother, who passed away this year. That was a nice moment and the crowd was very respectful. Slater also put over his NXT tag team title match on Tuesday against Dark State.

Mike Santana(maybe?) & Steve Maclin vs. Nic Nemeth & Frankie Kazarian (w/ Ryan Nemeth)

Maclin came to the ring alone, and while the crowd chanted for Santana, the show-long storyline of Santana not being there continued. When Kazarian entered, Rehwoldt went into another rant about people complaining about Kazarian winning the title, saying it was a long time in coming. It had a lot of “Stand Up for TNA/You’re Watching it Wrong” type energy.

So without Santana, Maclin said “screw it” and went on the attack, taking Nemeth and Kazarian down with back elbows. Back in the ring, Maclin hit Nic Nemeth with an Olympic Slam for a near fall. Maclin hung Nic up in the turnbuckle, sent Kazarian flying with a forearm, and then hit a spear in the corner on Nemeth for a near fall. Ryan Nemeth distracted Maclin, so Maclin chased him up the entrance, where Mara Sade (with dry hair) met Ryan with a superkick to take him out of the match.

Maclin went back to the ring, and Nic Nemeth caught him with a Famouser for a near fall. Kazarian took him down with a kind of a running leg sweep for a near fall. Kazarian choked Maclin against the ring ropes and drove a knee into his neck.

Kazarian hit a springboard legdrop for a near fall. Nic Nemeth hit a hangman’s neckbreaker and dropped a big elbow for a near fall. Maclin mounted a brief comeback, but Kazarian cut him off with a back elbow. Nemeth and Kazarian set up Maclin for a double-team superplex, but Maclin fought his way out of it. Maclin sent them both tumbling to the mat, then came off the top with a dropkick for both guys.

With everyone down, Mike Santana pulled up to the arena lot, blew past all that security Ava or Santino brought while taping up his arm, and entered the arena for the match. Seven minutes into it. Santana went after Nemeth and took him down with a death valley driver. He then dove over the ropes onto Kazarian with a somersault plancha, missing Kazarian (who sold it anyway) and selling his still-injured arm.

Back in the ring, Nemeth attacked Santana’s arm, snapping it against the ring ropes. Nemeth hit Santana with a superkick for two.

Maclin took out Nemeth, leaving Santana one-on-one with Kazarian. Santana avoided the Fade to Black and escaped a roll up, then hit the rolling clothesline on Kazarian and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Steve Maclin & Mike Santana defeated Nic Nemeth & Frankie Kazarian when Santana showed up late and pinned Kazarian with a clothesline (10:22)

Frankie Kazarian laid unconscious in the ring, and after hesitating for a bit, Nemeth grabbed the trophy to call his shot. But before the ref could ring the bell, the NXT guys attacked again and Brooks Jensen laid him out. The NXT guys went after Nemeth, Steve Maclin and Mike Santana. It looked like Kazarian would remain unscathed… until the NXT invaders jumped Kazarian too.

Santino Marella ran out to yell at the NXT invaders, and Brooks Jensen levels him with a forearm! After the NXT invaders laid out some security, the Hardys came in with steel chairs. And they got beaten down, too! And bringing the chairs was a real mistake, because the NXT invaders got them and used them on the Hardys and Maclin.

The thing is, the NXT lead by Lexis King isn’t the nWo, it isn’t the Nexus and it isn’t even Aces and Eights. It doesn’t look like the stars from NXT are coming for TNA. It looks like the midcards from NXT are beating up TNA’s main event guys, now for two shows in a row. And I’m not sure how Santana losing his world title in under a minute last night, then in storyline pouting all day before coming to work late after his partner spends half the match getting beat up by two guys, is making him a bigger babyface.

The System v. The Rascals and the Slater/Swann matches were both worth checking out. The rest, not so much.

Tag team match announced for TNA Turning Point

A tag team match with potential title implications has been booked for TNA Turning Point 2025.

It’s been announced that TNA World Champion Mike Santana will team up with International Champion Steve Maclin at Turning Point this Friday. They’re facing Nic Nemeth & Frankie Kazarian, who were the co-winners of the Call Your Shot gauntlet match at Bound for Glory. Both Nemeth and Kazarian are now owed title shots that they can cash in on any champion of their choosing at any point over the next year.

Santana defeated Trick Williams in the Bound for Glory main event to become the new TNA World Champion. Earlier on the pay-per-view, Maclin defeated Kazarian to win back the International title.

Kazarian was the winner of the 2024 Call Your Shot gauntlet as well but failed to win the TNA World Championship when he cashed in.

After a one-month hiatus following Bound for Glory, TNA is back with a live Impact episode this Thursday (November 13) and Turning Point on Friday (November 14). The shows are both being held in Orlando, Florida at Full Sail University.

Turning Point will air live for TNA+ subscribers. This is the first announced match.

TNA Turning Point 2025 —

  • Mike Santana & Steve Maclin vs. Nic Nemeth & Frankie Kazarian

Report: Update on Steve Maclin’s TNA contract status

An update on Steve Maclin’s contract status.

Fightful Select reported on Monday that Maclin’s contract is set to expire at the end of 2025. He re-signed with the company on a one-year deal when his contract came up last year.

Maclin has spent the last few months in the International title scene, a new championship established earlier this year when he defeated Eric Young and AJ Francis in a tournament final to become the first-ever champion. At Victory Road, Frankie Kazarian defeated Maclin to win the title. However, Kazarian’s run was short-lived as Maclin regained the title at Bound for Glory earlier this month.

Previously known as Steve Cutler, Maclin wrestled in NXT and WWE for years, teaming with Wesley Blake for most of his run. They briefly formed a stable with Baron Corbin on the main roster before being released in early 2021. Maclin joined TNA later that year as a singles wrestler, winning their World Championship in 2023. He would hold it for 54 days before losing to Alex Shelley.

Steve Maclin wins International title at TNA Bound for Glory

Steve Maclin is now a two-time TNA International Champion after regaining the title at Sunday’s TNA Bound for Glory.

Maclin defeated Frankie Kazarian in the pay-per-view opener, hitting the KIA after a shoulderblock in the corner for the pinfall. He and his mother celebrated afterward, both flipping off the camera.

Maclin is also a former TNA World Champion, having held the title for 54 days in 2023.

The 38-year-old Maclin was the inaugural champion, winning the title in April’s Unbreakable in a three-way. In his tenth defense of the gold at September’s Victory Road, Kazarian ended his run but never defended the title before Sunday.

Kazarian’s night was not done, however. He entered the Call Your Shot gauntlet match and was the co-winner along with Nic Nemeth after a double pin which the live crowd didn’t like.

TNA Bound for Glory ongoing results:

  • The IInspiration defeated The Elegance Brand to retain the Knockouts Tag Team titles
  • Kelani Jordan defeated Indi Hartwell to retain the TNA Knockouts title
  • Tessa Blanchard defeated Gia Miller
  • Nic Nemeth and Frankie Kazarian were co-winners of the Call Your Shot gauntlet

New match official for TNA Bound for Glory

A new match has been added to the lineup for TNA Bound for Glory.

Frankie Kazarian defending the TNA International Championship against the former champion Steve Maclin is now scheduled for the show. This comes after Kazarian defeated Maclin for the belt at Victory Road.

Maclin revealed on The Angle Podcast that he’s cashing in his rematch clause. He said:

“It hasn’t been announced, but I’ll announce it for you that that’s the match at Bound for Glory, between myself and Frankie Kazarian, the self-proclaimed King of TNA vs. ‘Bulletproof’ Steve Maclin for the TNA International Championship.”

He added that once he regains the title, he plans to go to AAA to get revenge on El Mesias, whose appearance at ringside at Victory Road led to Kazarian winning the championship.

TNA Bound for Glory, Sunday, October 12 —

  • TNA World Champion Trick Williams defends against Mike Santana
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy) defend against Team 3D (Bully Ray and Brother Devon) in a tables match
  • TNA Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan defends against Indi Hartwell
  • TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater defends against Je’Von Evans
  • TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian defends against Steve Maclin

TNA Victory Road live results: Three title matches

TNA Wrestling heads north of the border to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, for tonight’s Victory Road streaming special.

The show won’t feature either a TNA World or Knockouts title match as Trick Williams isn’t scheduled and Masha Slamovich was pulled to allegations of domestic abuse.

In one title match, X-Division Champion Leon Slater will defend against Myron Reed of The Rascalz while TNA International Champion Steve Maclin defends against Frankie Kazarian in a grudge match.

In a TNA vs. NXT bout, Mike Santana takes on Ridge Holland.

In the night’s third title bout, Knockouts Tag Team Champions Heather by Elegance and M by Elegance defend against The IInspiration’s Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay.

Knockouts Champion Ash by Elegance will be on the show for an announcement.

In a match to determine the order of entry advantage for Hardcore War at Bound for Glory, Moose takes on Mustafa Ali.

In a clash of former World Champions, Joe Hendry meets Eric Young while former TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth take on The Home Town Man & Matt Cardona.

The pre-show will feature Cedric Alexander vs. Trey Miguel vs. Zachary Wentz in a three-way while Matt Hardy talks to AJ Francis in an interview segment.

**********

Live! From Edmonton —deep breath— Alberta, Canada.

Pre-Show.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt are on commentary for the last live TNA+ special the road to Bound for Glory.

Zachary Wentz pinned Cedric Alexander in a Triple Threat match which included Trey Miguel (7:51)

Miguel knocked his partner out of the match immediately with a superkick, making the match one-on-one for a minute between Miguel and Alexander. Wentz paid him back by setting up a double-team with Miguel but turning it into a flipping DDT on Miguel instead. Everyone takes turns hitting running dives on the floor on each other, until Wentz cuts Miguel’s last dive off with a cutter. Alexander starts German suplexing fools like he’s Brock Lesnar without the sordid legal background. Alexander suplexed them both individually and then both at the same time. Miguel and Wentz each hit a slingblade on Alexander, then went to slingblade each other, knocking themselves out. Wentz hit a rolling cutter on Miguel and then used the momentum to hit Miguel with a knee for a near fall. Alexander dropped Wentz with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Miguel tied up Alexander’s legs, took out Wentz with a Lightning Spiral, and then rolled Alexander into a Muta Lock. Wentz broke that up with a swanton. Wentz hit a cutter on Alexander and got the pinfall.

— Gia Miller interviewed International Champion Steve Maclin, who will fight for all the Marines that have had to deal with the disrespect like Frankie Kazarian has given him.  When he was done, El Mesías of AAA came out of nowhere to stare the TNA International Champion down.

AJ Francis’ First Class Penthouse. Francis wore a Houston Texans jacket to try and rub it in to the Edmonton crowd because they don’t have any professional sports franchises. But let’s be honest, calling the Houston Texans a professional franchise is a stretch. Francis screamed a lot and said nothing while the crowd chanted obscenities. Francis took off his jersey to reveal a Florida Panthers t-shirt to rub in how Edmonton lost the Stanley Cup to them twice. Francis tried to have the production team play music from his new album (debuting on streaming platforms everywhere Tuesday), but Matt Hardy’s music played instead. Francis ran down Hardy because he believed that First Class belongs in the Tag Team Title match at Bound for Glory. Hardy responded with the list of all the things the Hardys and Dudleys have done to reinvent tag team wrestling. This lead to a brawl. Francis hit a boot and chokeslammed Hardy though a table in the ring. Hardy v. Francis might be added to the show.

The System. The System with the returning JDC came out. Eddie Edwards took the mic and issued a challenge to Order 4 for tonight. Santino Marella came out and made the Matt Hardy v. AJ Francis match (pending Hardy getting cleared by the medical professionals) as well as Order 4 v. The System, which will open the show!

Victory Road! The Main Show!

The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, JDC) defeated Order 4 (Jason Hotch, John Skyler, Agent Zero) (4:32)

This is Agent Zero’s in-ring debut. He wrestles in a suit pants and a dress shirt with the sleeves cut off. He still doesn’t look big enough for this role. He did have a sharp short-arm powerslam though. Order 4 worked over Edwards in their corner. JDC eventually go the tag and took it to both members of the Great Hands. JDC hit a falcon arrow on Hodge for a near fall. Zero tried to run in but got clotheslined to the floor. JDC hit a top rope legdrop on Skyler and got the pinfall. Short and inoffensive.

Ash by Elegance Vacates the TNA Knockouts Championship. Ash was announced as both a TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion and the TNA Knockouts World Champion. Marella and TNA president Carlos Silva. Ash announced that she is no longer able to compete and is giving up the TNA Knockouts Title. Ash thanked the crowd for their support and expressed confidence in the women in the Knockouts Locker Room to elevate the TNA Knockouts Title as she would have. Ash received a standing ovation from the crowd as she left the ring, and left the title in the ring. Marella then announced the TNA Knockouts Tag Title match will be moved to this Thursday to make room for a TNA Knockouts Battle Royal, where the last two women in the ring will fight it out for the TNA Knockouts Championship.

Lei Ying Lee and Kelani Jordan survived a Battle Royal to qualify for a match for the vacant TNA Knockouts Championship (4:45)

It’s battle royal rules, but the last two women remaining will fight it out in a singles match for the title later in the show. Indi Hartwell will be the guest referee for the title match as planned, so she is not in this match.

There were only 10 women in the battle royal. A The IInspiration and Heather & M got into it to start. The Conceigere guy jumped into the ring to try and help the Elegance Brand by throwing a woman that even the commentators couldn’t identify to the wolves. I believe it was Lili “La Pescadita” Ruiz. Anyway, the IInspiration tossed her to the floor. That was an ignonimous TNA debut. Jody Threat was clotheslined out of the match by Dani Luna. Luna also eliminated Xia Brookside. Everyone ganged up on Luna to eliminate her. The IInspriation and The Elegance Brand teased eliminating each other until Lei Yǐng Lee and Kelani Jordan dumped all four of them. This left Jordan and Lee as the two finalists for the title match later in the show.  This wasn’t much but I can’t blame TNA for their whole Knockouts title picture completely blowing up on them over the past 48 hours.

Matt Cardona & The Home Town Man (w/ Buzz, the Mascot of the Edmonton Stingers) defeated The Nemeth Brothers (6:27)

Ryan won (or lost, I don’t know) the paper-rock-scissors contest and had to start the match with Cardona. I wonder if that’s a work or a shoot. Cardona got a near fall on Ryan with a flapjack. The fans chanted “Chelsea’s Husband!” for Cardona. The crowd was also into the Home Town Man, which I guess makes sense since he’s from Edmonton. Although he’s also been from Phoenix. And Minnesota… is this a deal like Ted DiBiase’s seasonal residences?

Joe Hendry was shown backstage on the floor hurting, the victim of an apparent attack.

Nic Nemeth got a near fall on the Home Town Man after a big elbow drop. Cardona got the hot tag and hit a middle rope dropkick on Nic. Cardona hit the Unpretty-Her on Nic for a near fall. Nemeth countered Radio Silence and Ryan caught Cardona with a jumping DDT for a near fall. Home Town Man came in with a crossbody on both Nemeths for a near fall. Home Town Man tried to hit both Nemeths with a sliced bread, but they countered it and took the Man out with a Hart Attack. Ryan tried to tie up Home Town Man with a sharpshooter, but Home Town Man countered that with a small package and got the pinfall!

After the match, The Nemeths took out Cardona with a Danger Zone. The Nemeths stripped The Home Town Man of his mask, but Cardona covered his face up before we could learn his identity. This better lead to a Hair vs. Mask match at Bound for Glory.

Mike Santana defeated Ridge Holland (7:57)

Santana cut an impassioned promo before the match outside the arena surrounded by fans. If Holland took out Santana, Trick Williams promised him a title shot. So Santana came out swinging, dumped Holland to the floor and hit him with a tope con hilo on the floor. Holland sent Santana into the ring apron then got a near fall back in the ring off a suplex. Holland avoided an enziguri. Santana caught him with a crossbody, but Holland came back with a powerslam and kind of a Snowplow looking move for a near fall. Holland went for a implant DDT, but Santana blocked it and backdropped his way out of the move. Santana hit a pair of lariats, and flying lariat and then kipped up. Santana hit an enziguri in the corner. Holland blocked a rolling cutter but got dropped with a Death Valley Driver. Holland blocked the discus lariat, but walked into the rolling cutter. Santana hit the cannonball in the corner. Santana hit a top rope superplex. Santana then tried to transition into another suplex, but Holland countered with a vertical powerslam for a near fall. Santana avoided a clothesline from Holland and came back and hit the discus lariat to get the pinfall victory.

After the match, TNA World Champion Trick Williams ran in from behind and hit Santana with the championship belt. The crowd is behind Santana, but every time Williams appears he comes off as ten times the star, and the booking of Williams laying out Santana with a belt shot and then walking away didn’t really help Santana. This needed to be more like Santana succumbing to a bunch of NXT thugs lead by Williams, but still being defiant after taking a beating.

— Matt Hardy bullied the doctor into cleaning him for a match with AJ Francis later tonight.

Mustafa Ali defeated Moose to win the advantage for Hardcore War at Bound for Glory (12:18)

The members of Order 4 and the System each came out with their respective representavies in the match, then adjourned to the back. Except for the “escorts” of Ali, a trio of masked belly dancers.

Moose killed Ali with a boot to start the match. Moose brushed off a pair of chops by Ali and hit a pair of his own. Moose set Ali on the turnbuckles than dropkicked him to the floor. As impressive as Moose looks, Ali is doing a tremendous job bumping all over the place and selling like crazy. On the floor, Moose tried to powerbomb Ali, but Ali countered with a spinning DDT. Ali’s “escorts” watched from the entrance ramp.

Back in the ring, Ali hit a springboard moonsault, but Moose’s kickoff sent Ali out of the ring. Ali hit a rolling neckbreaker for a near fall. Ali tried to slow things down with a chinlock, but Moose easily powered out. Ali hit a jumping rana, then sent Moose into a ring barricade with a plancha. Moose avoided the 450, then dropped Ali with an uranagi and a senton. More chops were exchanged. Ali hit a super kicked, but Moose turned Ali inside out with a clothesline. Ali countered a powerbomb attempt with a code red for a near fall. Ali went to the top, but Moose cut him off with a chop. Moose tried for a superplex, but Ali blocked it. Ali tried a springboard, but Moose caught him and countered with the Go to Hell (a Sky High) for a near fall. Ali dodged a spear and went for a suplex, but Moose blocked it. Ali countered the counter and got the suplex and god, Ali is just magnitudes of order better than anyone else on this show so far.

Moose hit a spear out of nowhere and almost got a three, but Ali’s foot was on the rope and the ref stopped her count. The fans chanted “ref you suck!” But that was 100% the right call so that crowd owes her an apology. Both guys dropped to the floor. Moose charged at Ali, and Ali backdropped Moose right onto the steel stairs. Back in the ring, Ali hit the 450, but Moose SAT UP while holding Ali. Ali’s facials were great here. Ali went at Moose with rights, but Moose hulked up. Ali dove into a headbutt from Moose. Ali caught a charging Moose with a cradle for two. Ali went for a backslide, which Moose countered. Moose hit a huge powebomb for another near fall. Ali’s escorts surrounded the ring. They all got on the apron, and distracted the ref. One slid into the ring and gave Moose a low blow behind the ref’s back. Ali then hit the 450 and got the pinfall.

And of course after the match, the “dancer” who gave the low blow revealed herself to be Tasha Steelz. This was a great match.

Joe Hendry defeated Eric Young (11:16)

Young grabbed the mic to declare himself the winner by forfeit, but of course says the name of his opponent, and he appeared. There was a fan opposite the hard cam holding up a sign that said “The Cleanse is Coming.” Lots of brawling around the ring to start. Back in the ring, Young hit a DDT to take control. Young was on offense for a long time. Young used a lot of wear down holds, which gave time for the crowd to get behind Hendry but didn’t do much for me. Hendry fought out of the sleeper three times but then got caught right back in it again. Hendry ultimately  countered the sleeper by hitting Young with a suplex.

Hendry mounted the comeback with a step up rana and a fallaway slam. A fan dressed as Hendry stood next to the “Cleanse is Coming” sign guy, which I don’t think TNA intended to happen. Hendry with an Olympic Slam for a near fall. Hendry set up a superplex, but Young bit Hendry, pushed him to the mat and hit a flying elbow for near fall. Young mocked Hendry’s clap. Hendry escaped a death valley driver attempt, but Young hit a piledriver for a near fall. Young got into the face of the referee. Hendry came up behind Young and got hit with a lowbrow. Young went to the floor to bring in some steel chairs, but the former members of the Northern Army ran down to distract Young. Hendry then caught Young with the Standing Ovation on a steel chair and got the pinfall. Even though Hendry hit his finisher on a steel chair, Hannifan on commentary gave a convoluted explanation as to why that wasn’t a disqualification. This made no sense and it would have been better for him to just leave it alone. Match was fine and the crowd was way into it.

— The commentators talked up footage from NXT on Tuesday where the TNA roster “stood up” to the NXT roster. My angle sense in tingling.

Matt Hardy v. AJ Francis

Matt came out limping more than usual. Hardy then announced the match would be… a TABLES MATCH. Hardy promised to but Francis’ “big a$$” through a table.

Matt Hardy defeated  AJ Francis in a Tables Match (9:47)

Matt tried to pull a table from under the ring, but Francis put it back and the crowd booed. Francis really knows how to be a heel. Hardy charged at Francis and dove into his “Right Hand of God.” Back in the ring, Francis choked Hardy against the ropes. The crowd did not like AJ Francis. Francis flipped himself over the ropes while hitting Hardy with a knee, but missed a senton. Hardy went to the floor to grab a table. Hardy struggled to get the table in the ring. Francis cut him off with a boot. Francis propped a table up in the corner and went to charge at Hardy, but Hardy got out of the way. Francis charged a Hardy with a cannonball, but Hardy ducked and Francis put himself through the table. But, since Hardy didn’t put him through the table, the match continued.

Hardy deleted Francis’ head into the turnbuckles, then hit a DDT out of the corner. Hardy was selling bad ribs and went to the floor to grab a chair. In an ill-advised spot, Hardy hung the chair around Francis’ head, but Francis pulled Hardy into the chair, catching Matt’s face on the legs of the chair. Francis threw the chair at Hardy’s face and choked him out with the chair. Francis went up for a moonsault, but taunted the crowd and Hardy recovered to hit him with the chair. Hardy drove Francis down to the mat with an avalanche side effect.

Hardy set up a table on the floor.  Back in the ring, Francis hit Hardy with a spear. Francis grabbed Matt’s TNA tag title belt. Francis tried to hit Matt with the title belt, but Matt ducked and dropped Francis with a Twist of Fate. On the floor, Hardy hit Francis in the face with the belt (which set him up on the table). Hardy came off the top rope with a legdrop to put Francis  through the table (on the floor!) and get the victory.

Kelani Jordan defeated Léi Yîng Lee for the vacant TNA Knockouts World Title with Indi Hartwell as Special Referee (15:14)

Hartwell patted down both competitors before calling for the bell, always a great spot for the special referee. She even checked Lee’s hair for weapons.

Lee caught Jordan with a shoulder block. Jordan caught Lee with a dropkick to send her to the floor. Lee caught Jordan with a knee and a dropkick for a near fall. Jordan dodged a charge from Lee and caught her with a splash for a near fall. Jordan countered a fireman’s carry with a sunset flip, which set off an exchange of cradles and near falls between the two.

After dueling chants from the crowd for TNA and NXT, Lee caught Jordan with strikes in the corner. Release Northern Lights suplex got Lee a near fall. Lee went for a spinning face buster, but Jordan escaped. Both women nearly collided with Hartwell at points. Jordan worked over Lee with a half-crab. We all know what agent in the back gave her that idea. Lee eventually kicked Jordan to the floor to escape.

Jordan climbed the ropes, but Lee caught her with more strikes. Lee jumped from the mat to the top rope and took Jordan down with a hurricanrana in a cool spot. Both women began exchanging strikes in the center of the ring, with Lee eventually firing up to take control. Lee hit a thurst kick, a rolling necksnap and a seated dropkick for a near fall. Lee went for a powerbomb, but Jordan rolled through and hit a superkick. Jordan charged, but Lee caught her with a Blue Thunder Bomb for another near fall.

Jordan dropped to the floor to take a breather. Lee followed and Jordan caught her with a kick. Jordan tried to go for a rana off the apron but messed up the move and wound up powerbombing herself. Lee sold the move anyway and Jordan popped up. Back in the ring, Jordan went for a kick, but Lee countered and locked Jordan in an STF. Jordan fought her way out and rolled up Lee for a near fall. Jordan planted Lee with a sitout implant DDT. Jordan hit a frog splash for another near fall.

Jordan went for a split legged legdrop off the top, but somehow hit Hardwell. Lee hit Thunderstruck, but Hartwell was out. Hartwell recovered but Lee only got a two count. Lee and Jordan exchanged small packages for two. Jordan hit Lee with a a stunner, then delivered a split legged moonsault and got the pinfall.

After the match, Carlo Silva presented the TNA Knockouts World title to Jordan. Jordan also held up Lee’s hand in a show of respect. Ash also came out to congratulate the new champion.

Frankie Kazarian defeated Steve Maclin for the TNA International Championship (15:35)

The “TNA Headlines” graphic before the match all but gave away the finish, especially after the commentators harped on how it’s been 3 years since Kazarian held a TNA title.

Maclin handled Kazarian well early on, out wrestling him from the onset. Kazarian tried to turn things into a brawl and that went even worse for him. Maclin mauled him with forearms to the back in the corner, then dropped Kazarian with a backbreaker for near fall. Kazarian missed a legdrop on the apron, but Maclin missed a big dive to the floor. Kazarian followed up with a lariat on the floor to take control.

Back in the ring, Kazarian hit a slingshot legdrop. Kazarian caught Maclin with a forearm to the throat. Maclin had a bloody lip. Kazarian whipped him hard into the corner. Kazarian dove at Maclin, who tried to drive him down with a uranagi. Kazarian came back with a clothesline. Kazarian worked over Maclin with a cravat.

Kazarian hit a neckbreaker for a near fall, then went back to the cravat. Maclin fought his way out of the cravat and went for an Olympic Slam. Kazarian escaped and someone forgot what they were supposed to do, leading to an awkward spot. Maclin caught Kazarian with a face buster and both men were down.

Kazarian charged into a clothesline from Maclin. Maclin caught him with a Thez Press. Maclin hit a forearm in the corner and a short clothesline. Maclin got the Olympic Slam for a near fall. Kazarian went for the chicken wing, but Maclin escaped and hit a charging knee. A headbutt got Maclin a near fall. Maclin clubbed Kazarian in the corner and hung him upside down. Maclin charged, but Kazarian countered with a cutter in an amazing spot for a near fall.

Kazarian went for the chicken wing again, but Maclin countered. Kazarian caught Maclin with an elbow and avoided a charge in the corner. Kazarian climbed the ropes, but Maclin caught him with a right and fought up there with Kazarian. Maclin clubbed Kazarain in the back some more, then superplexed him down. Maclin rolled though and into a death valley driver style neckbreaker. Kazarian rolled to the floor.

Kazarian caught Maclin with a slingshot DDT for a near fall. Kazarian set up Maclin on the ropes and set up the Flux Capacitor, but Maclin shoved Kazarian off. Maclin went for a top rope headbutt, but Kazarian got out of the way and tried to lock in a chicken wing. Maclin fought his way out and sent Kazarian to the floor. Maclin hit a dive to the floor on Kazarian.

Back in the ring, Maclin hung Kazarian upside down, but was distracted by El Mesías as he made his way to the ring. Maclin hit El Mesías with a dive. While the ref sent Mesías to the back, Kazarian low-blowed Maclin by kicking the middle rope as he stepped over it. Kazarian  then caught Maclin with a slingshot cutter to get the pinfall and the International Title. This was solid.

Leon Slater defeated Myron Reed to retain the TNA X-Division Championship (13:43)

Both guys were very quick in the opening. Reed caught Slater with a legdrop to the back of the head. Reed kept trying to intimidate Staler. When he finally had enough of that, Slater leveled Reed with a forearm. Reed caught Slater with a lung blower. He went for a springboard, but Slater cut him off with a dropkick to send him to the floor. Slater followed out with a springboard plancha.

Back in the ring, Slater slowed down the pace with a series of hard chops. Salter pummeled Reed in the corner with right hands. Slater hit a crossbody for one. Slater floored Reed with a superkick. Reed caught Slater with a rana into a cradle for a near fall, then turned Slater inside out with a superkick.

Reed caught Slater with an enziguri, then tossed him to the mat after bouncing him off the top rope. Reed tried to set up Slater in the ropes, but Slater escaped. Reed jumped to avoid a kick but Slater grabbed him out of the air and hit the Utopia helicopter slam for a near fall. Reed caught Slater with a kick, but then dove off the middle rope into a boot from Slater. Reed rolled to the floor, and Slater followed him out with a flip dive over the turnbuckle to the floor.

Back in the ring, Reed avoided a 450 but Slater caught him with a lariat. Reed countered a suplex from Slater by supplying him to the floor, but Slater held on and tried for the suplex on the floor, but Reed countered that with a Stundog Millionaire on the floor. Then on the other side of the ring, Reed caught Slater with his over the top rope running cutter to the floor. Reed hit Slater with the 450 in the ring, but Slater kicked out.

Reed hit some overhand rights on Slater. Slater fought back with a chop. Reed avoided a leg lariat and hit a cutter. Reed propped up Slater in the corner. Reed went for a superplex, but Slater countered with a twisting superplex of his own. Slater hit the swanton 450 and got the pinfall to retain the title. Great match.

After the match, TNA President Carlos Silva presented Slater with his championship belt, and both men shook hands after the match.

Santino Marella came out while Slater celebrated to put over Leon Slater. Marella has been negotiated with Ava from NXT for Leon Slater’s Bound for Glory opponent, who will be Je’Von Evans. Evans cut a pre-taped promo from the video wall to announce the match.

Final Thoughts:

With no Men’s World title, Knockouts World title, or World Tag Team title match advertised going into, this felt like it was going to be an underwhelming B-show. But the International and X-Division title matches way overdelivered and Mustafa Ali’s match was tremendous. And the hot crowd made for an overall fun show.

Bound for Glory (so far…)

  • Mike Santana (TNA) v. Trick Williams (NXT) for the TNA World Title (held by Williams).
  • The Hardys v. Team 3D for the TNA World Tag Team Titles

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

Trick Williams came out for a promo to put over “Trick-NA” and how he’s going to beat Moose in front of his mama at Emergence in Baltimore. Trick called Emergence a “PLE” and said Moose came from a family of bobble heads. Moose came out to respond by hitting Williams with the microphone. Trick got out of the ring before Moose could punish him any further.

– In the back, Gabby LaSpisa welcomed interviewer Gia Miller back to TNA Wrestling. Miller had been out of action since being attacked by Tessa Blanchard at Slammiversary. Miller threatened to kill Tessa Blanchard, then brought in Joe Hendry. Hendry will make Mustafa Ali believe in the main event.

– Mike Santana met with Sami Callahan backstage and agreed to a match at Emergence. Eric Young and The Northern Army interrupt and Young calls Santana a failure for losing at Slammiversary.

Steve Maclin and Jake Something  went to a double count out for the TNA International Title (3:44)

Frankie Kazarian joined the commentary team for this match. The commentators seemed more interested in arguing with each other than calling the match. Maclin got a near fall after an Angle Slam. Something blocked a back suplex, and a double clothesline put both men down. Maclin backdropped Something to the floor, then followed him out with a tope. On the floor, Something sent Maclin into the steel steps. So they brawled up to the apron and the ref was counting while they continued to punch each other on the apron, they fell down and the ref counted them out. That is the stupidest finish I’ve seen in a while. The security geeks came out to fail at separating them and they brawled to the back.

– Mance Warner and Steph De Lander went into Santino Marella’s empty office for… well, use your imagination.

– In the back, Cedric Alexander talked about the importance of winning the X-Division championship.

Xia Brookside & Léi Yǐng Lee defeated Heather and M by Elegance (w/ The Personal Concierge) (8:04 aired)

Lee dropped M with a vertical suplex for a near fall. But while M distracted the referee, Heather wrapped Lee’s arm around the ring post. The Elegance Brand worked over Lee’s injured arm. Heather stretched Lee with a surfboard. Heather punished Lee by snapping back on her arm. Heather locked Lee in a surfboard.

Lee escaped the surfboard and got floored with a clothesline for a near fall. Brookside inadvertently distracted the ref which gave the Elegance Brand the opportunity for an illegal double team. Lee finally got the hot tag to Brookside, who was a house of fire. They set up the spot where Brookside gave the one girl a neckbreaker which caused her to DDT her partner which is as contrived as it sounds. Lee and Brookside doubleteamed M with kicks. Heather ran in to break up a pin attempt. Lee hit M with a kick, then followed up with a spinning facebuster to get the pinfall.

The TNA Injury Report:

  • KC Navarro is out with a dislocated knee.
  • The Home Town Man has bruised ribs.
  • Joe Hendry and Mustafa Ali have been cleared for tonight’s main event.

– Santino Marella and Arianna Grace walked in on… whatever Mance Warner and Steph DeLander were doing.

– The First Class Penthouse with KC Navarro and AJ Francis. Navarro announced he had a torn ACL, would need surgery and be out for a while. Navarro is despondent, but Francis said “next man up” and brought the returning Rich Swann back to the First Class. Navarro reluctantly holds the mic for Swann’s promo. Francis let Navarro know his services will no longer be required, since he was just a “back up” who was filling in while Swann was hurt. Less than pleased with this development, Navarro rattled off all the times that he put AJ Francis ahead of himself. Francis saw it differently, that he has been carrying Navarro for the last nine months. Swann and Francis kicked the crutches out from Navarro and Franics said “I was happy when you got injured.” Francis sent Navarro packing.

Mara Sadè defeated Vicious Vicki (1:49)

Sadè won with her finisher, the “Finish Her” and double underhook into her knees, kind of like a reverse lung blower.

– On NXT Tuesday, Joe Hendry appeared in a refrigerator and got a match with Charlie Dempsey for next week, and Moose got in Trick Williams face over the TNA title before the Dark State appeared. This set up an 8-man tag for NXT where Williams and Moose have to be on the same team against the members of Dark State.

Ash by Elegance defeated Jacy Jayne by disqualification in a match for the TNA Knockouts World Champion (1:50)

Masha Slamovich ran in and attacked Ash for the disqualification. Jayne took her down with the boot, and the rest of Fatal Influence ran in. Brookside and Lee ran in and so did the IInspiration. The Knockout babyfaces dumped Fatal Influence and the Elegance Brand and stood tall in the ring. Jayne is still the Knockouts World Champion.

Director of Authority Santino Marella announced several matches for Emergence:

  • Steve Maclin v. Jake Something in a no count-out, no disqualification match for the International Title.
  • Mike Santana v. Sami Callahan
  • Fatal Influence v. Elegance Brand v. The IInspiration v. Brookside/Lee for the Knockouts Tag Team Title.

Marella then called out the Nemeths to tell them they were not getting their contractually obligated rematch for the TNA Tag Team Titles. Marella suspended Nick Nemeth for Emergence because of his actions last week (attacking the Home Town Man and injuring some security folks). Marella gave the tag team title match to The Rascals. Ryan Nemeth threatened to sue (which we all know he is wont to do), and Marella deemed him not as guilty, so Ryan will to face the Home Town Man at Emergence.

Next week on TNA Impact:

  • Frankie Kazarian interviews Jake Something and Steve Maclin
  • The Hardys & Leon Slater v. The Rascalz and Cedric Alexander
  • Matt Cardona v. John Skyler
  • Mike Santana v. Eric Young
  • The IInspiration v. Myla Grace and Harley Hudson

Mustafa Ali (w/ Order 4) defeated Joe Hendry (14:46 aired)

Hannifin ran down all the ways Hendry helped bring TNA to new heights by taking the TNA World title onto WWE shows and losing. Ali worked a headlock. Ali bridged out of a pin attempt and walked into a side headlock. Hendry caught Ali with a hip toss and a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Ali caught Hendry with a kick to escape a backdrop, but Hendry turned him inside out  with a clothesline.

Ali slowed things down by going to the floor. Hendry followed him out, chopped Ali against the ring barricade and rammed his head into the ring apron. Ali tried for a piledriver, but Hendry countered by backdropping Ali. The members of Order 4 distracted Hendry, allowing Ali to hit a dive and take control.

Back in the ring, Ali took control with a neck vice. Ali hit a hangman’s neckbreaker for a near fall.  In an impressive spot, Hendry blocked a tornado DDT out of the corner and powered Ali up into a suplex. Hendry dropped Ali with a fallaway slam and kipped up. Ali escaped a Standing Ovation attempt and dropped to the floor. When Hendry gave chase, Ali sacrificed members of Order 4 to escape.

Back in the ring, Ali caught Hendry with a cradle for two. Hendry hit Ali with an Olympic Slam. Ali’s Secret Service tried to run in, but Hendry dumped them. Hendry drove Ali down with a cutter. Hendry hit the Standing Ovation, but Tasha Steelz pulled the ref out of the ring to break up the cover, apparently killing him dead. John Skyler and Jason Hotch doubleteamed Hendry. Hendry dumped them again after Ali missed a 450 splash. A second ref came in and Hendry gave Ali an AA for another near fall.

Hendry went for another Standing Ovation, and Steelz interfered again, literally on top of the corpse of the first referee. Ali sent Hendry to the floor, and Ali’s Agent Zero hit him with a big boot. Zero tossed Hendry in the ring, and Ali hit the 450 splash to get the victory.

I believed in Joe Hendry. That he would lose.
